Richardson: Bill Clinton ‘Wants to Keep a Grudge’

ABC News’ Teddy Davis and Hope Ditto report:  New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson told National Public Radio Thursday that he has not patched things up with Bill Clinton since going against his wife and endorsing Barack Obama for president.

"Have I heard from President Clinton? No. It could be a pretty much, a permanent fissure," Richardson told NPR’s "Morning Edition." "But that’s politics, that’s OK. I did what I thought was best for the country. I’m still very fond of the Clintons. I’ve reconciled with her, but with him, he wants to keep a grudge, that’s fine with me. I move on. I’m governor of New Mexico. I’m happy where I am.”

Richardson, who made an unsuccessful run for the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination, served in the Clinton administration as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations and later as Secretary of Energy.

Despite his long association with the Clintons, he endorsed Obama on March 21, 2008.  Audio from Richardson’s interview is available at: www.NPR.org

Had he, God of Nothingness, supported HRC’s proposal of targeted economic rescue aimed at the banking and mortgage sectors 12 months ago, had he, Zerobameus, rather than give cash to individuals, which did nothing to the down slide of the economy, and this Phony still uses to buy your votes promising to give you another $1000 if you vote for him, perhaps your retirement accounts would have been 50% better than what you have today.
Do you still support this deceptionist who does nothing, done nothing, and will do nothing, except empty promises that he will change overnight, including taking your constitulational rights of individual privacy? If you do, good luck.
You are all had.

Governor looks like a thug, talks like a thug and is now supporting another thug and liar. Bill Clinton deserved respect, not the race baiting of the Obama campaign. The way, Obama treated Hillary is beyond reason. Obama is running the diriest campaign ever. He will do anything to win including support for ACORN for voter defraud.

You young Obama supporters have no idea what ‘politics as usual’ is.
Richardson turning on President Clinton and coming out for Obama when there really was no point anymore was to score political points for HIMSELF . It didnt help Obama at all as it was long past the time any latino states were voting.
Politics as usual by Richardson. New politics would have been Richardson standing on the sidelines just like Joe Biden did and behold the winner no matter whom it was.

Now we finally have a crystal clear explanation of Bill Clinton’s half-hearted endorsement of Barack Obama and his public love affair with John McCain.
I am glad Bill Richardson put country ahead of personal friendship and loyalty.

Posted by: chris | October 9, 2008, 2:38 pm 2:38 pm

As a native New Mexican and a democrat who voted for Bill Richardson, I have some idea of his self- concerned ways. He is looking for a job in the next administration and would have endorsed Hillary had he felt that she would have been the democratic nominee. His concern is about himself only. Bill Richardson does not have decency to talk about about the importance of Bill Clinton in propelling him to the national spotlight. He would be nowhere without Bill Clinton.

Posted by: Ruth Reidy | October 9, 2008, 2:42 pm 2:42 pm

Its odd and very sad to hear that , it seems Bill clinton have a very thin skin which is surprising in the world of politics.
he should have said iam a big boy it didn’t happen for my wife, but i will go gang buster for the other family member and make sure he is elected its in the best interest for all of us. . after all they are all Democrats.
Hillary has gone out there and done great and is putting the message out ,Who knows! Barack can nominate her to be the NEXT Madame Justice.
Until such time i would like to see her get harry reid position.
Bill richardson has done well by Barack and and will get a nice cushy gig in his admin if he so desire.

Just because Bill Richardson supported for the person whom he thought would best serve the Country as President, does not mean he is a “traitor”. You Repugs just don’t get it. You get in lock step with your party and that’s the final choice. No disagreement, just follow the lemmings to their destruction, just like you have done with McCain/Palin. At least Democrats make choices based on their conscience and not “loyalty”.

Posted by: geecee | October 9, 2008, 2:44 pm 2:44 pm

Misleading headline, and quote. I heard Richardson on NPR this morning, and the “grudge” part wasn’t a statement, it was a QUESTION. it should have been written out as either:
“I’ve reconciled with her, but with him,[if] he wants to keep a grudge, that’s fine with me. I move on.”
or
“I’ve reconciled with her, but with him, he wants to keep a grudge? that’s fine with me. I move on.”
Please do your homework, maybe listen to the person you’re quoting, before attempting to “report” something.

Obama Calls McCain Mortgage Plan ‘Risky’. Obama said the “surge” would not work! Obama doesn’t want anything to help America…don’t bring the troops to come home before he is elected…Obama is FIRST, not America. Vote Obama, crash America.

Governor Richardson must miss the national lime light, because he keeps talking about President Clinton every chance he gets. I gave money to Bill Richardson’s campaign when he was running for president. However, after he dropped off, and waited so very, very long to endorse, I knew that he was a “vendido” and would endorse Senator Obama but only for his own self-interest. As a blogger said before, after his term as governor is over, he can forget politics. Governor Richardson is unreliable and untrustworthy. You don’t bite the hand that fed you.

momof4boys: Maybe you better get the message that we don’t want a president that had ties to a terrorist that killed people in this country after his bombing. Think about it. And got away with. I am glad its all out in the open for people that are true Americans of this country get to know the real Obama has has been hidden too long. It may have been a long time ago but its not too lake to bring it. Voters should know who their voting for unless their anti-american like Obama was and Ayers is.

Mercedes: You are so right. Richardson thought he would get a job in Obama’s administration if elected. Well, he got fooled. Ayers is replacing him. Obama said he knew nothing about Ayers when he met him in l995. Don’t take bets on it. Obama was a racist, anti-american at that time. And that’s another reason he joined a racist church. Michele belongd to a racist organization before she met Obama. He doesn’t deserve to be the president of this country.

You know that riot threat was used even when BO was running against Hillary. Sounds to me as if the BO camp is worried.
I noticed also that Zogby has said to ignore the current polls claiming BO will win by a landslide.
I believe that the McCain/Palin ticket will win — because I don’t think BO & cronies can continue to suppress the facts.

sam: Yes, they are all democrat dogs along with Nancy Pelosi, Dean and Reid. But I hope they lick their wounds after the election because it is going to very close. I watched the rally with McCain and Palin today and they drew the crowds. McCain got several standing ovations. People don’t want to hear the truth especially blacks. After Obama is half black and they would vote for him even if he was a criminal.

Just the fact that Richardson is going public with this kind of info shows he is not really a friend of Bill Clinton’s. A true friend in politics does not go on a national media outlet to complain about the other’s refusal to kiss and make up.

I really don’t care for either presidential candidate. While admire Senator McCaine very much, he is inarticulate and does not have the ability to speak as well as Senator Obama. You have to actively listen to him to understand his points of view. However, I trust him, he has experience and knowledge and I think he understands what we need at this point and time. Senator Obama is a wonderful orator and he speaks extremely well. I actively listen to what he says, however, he speaks in generalities, as of yet, and I have been listening and watching him for months on end, he still has not discussed issues in detail regarding what he would do specifically regarding the economy and other important issues. Lets see, he will not raise taxes, on the contrary, he will reduce taxes for the middle class. I would like to know where he will be getting all this money from for education, repair to our ifrastructure, medical insurance for everyone, the peace corp, etc,. Sounds like pie in the sky and a chicken in every pot to me. God help us all. I have been a voting democrat all of my life. With great reluctance, I will vote for McCaine.

I just listened to Fox saying Obama has a rally in Cincinnati. Obama stated to the audience for the people that had foreclosures there would be a buy-back. McCain has already said that in his debate therefore Obama has been copying the words of McCain. Obama never warned two years ago that this would happen. McCain was the only one. That was proven by records. Obama has been lying to the public since the beginning of his campaign and the majority of this generation has been believing his lies. I think its glad that his past has come to the light. Its shows that he has close ties to radicals and terrorist. No wonder Hamas likes him and the rest of the terrorists. Voters better wake up to the fact that this man would be a danger to America if elected.

Buzz in the corridors of federal courts in Chicago — RICO investigation of ACORN and BHO campaign:
http://www.hillaryclintonforum.net/discussion/showthread.php?t=34745
We were told that ACORN was investigated in Illinois years ago, and it was a Fitzgerald case then. This means ACORN’s activities today, involving a conspiracy to commit multi-state voter fraud on SoetorObama’s behalf, are an extension of that previous ACORN case.
Our source in federal courts said, “Any crime that involves more than two people and is carried out across state lines qualifies as a corrupt organization. The fact that those “Goodwill” donations were made in Texas and received at Obama headquarters in Chicago or Washington means it qualifies for RICO.”
The “Goodwill donations” referred to above are the $228 million in undocumented, unverified campaign contributions the SoetorObama camp has received — which the McCain campaigned filed a complaint to the FEC on this past Monday.
We’ve also heard that the Clinton campaign filed complaints to the FBI and other federal agencies over SoetorObama’s fraud in the Iowa, Texas and other caucuses: voter intimidation, registration fraud, and other illegal activities.
The last thing we were told tonight in regards to all of this was that “the meme here is a tying together of all these various threads. That’s what you will see in the last weeks of the campaign: all things being tied together”.
If everything rumored here is true, it looks like David Axelrod, Howard Dean, Donna Brazile, SoetorObama himself, and possibly even Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid were all involved, together, in massive RICO violations, and thus federal fraud, if the DNC and party leadership knew what the SoetorObama campaign and ACORN were up to and allowed it to proceed. Knowledge of federal crimes being committed makes all parties accessories to those crimes — and part of the conspiracy to defraud the public.

I having been watching Fox News for several hours today and the news media that was at the McCain/Palin campaign in Waukesha, WI said to Fox that people were mad at Obama calling his a traitor, terrorist and what about Acorn. It is one heck of a mess and Obama and Ayers were involved in Acorn together. They interviewed voters on Fox and they stated some of them registered 6 times or more with Acorn. Its going to be bad on November 4th. They need to close all the Acorn offices altogether. BE SURE TO WATCH THE NEWS TONIGHT. IT WILL BE ON ALL NETWORKS.

The more Bill opens his mouth, the lower he sinks. That’s why it is great that he is keeping quiet. Perhaps he should go support Palin – they really need it badly now. As for Bill’s legacy?? In the toilet now and if he speaks out louder, it would be flushed into the sewer. Poor Hillary – her future in national politics ruined for she would NEVER be able to get the total support of half of the democrats. Religion is for the weak minded – under Zerobameus, God of Nothingness, you will have a new meaning of nothingness.
Nothingness sold you as something.
Ask your political Jesus, why he pushes to buy your votes to give you cash called stimulus that did nothing to the downfall of economy.
Ask him why he failed and misjudged the policy that HRC supported to make targeted rescue on banking and mortgage lending financial sectors, rather than giving out individual $500 checks?
If he had the correct judgment, and work for a day on his day job in the Senate to help pass that idea into law, the stock market, i.e., your retirement funds, might have been 50% higher than today’s below 9000 level.
Do you really think his new promise of paying you $1000 bucks if you vote for him will bring back your 50%-less retirement accounts?

From the Black Conservative Republican Caucus:
Barack Obama speaks of economic justic. “Economic justice” simply means punishing the successful and resdistributing their wealth by government fiat. It’s a euphemism for socialism.
In his latest memoir he shares that he’d like to “recast” the welfare net that FDR and LJB cast, while rolling back what he derisively calls the “winner-take-all” market economy that Ronald Reagan reignited (with record gains in living standards for all).
As a Nairobi bureaucrat, Barack Hussein Obama Sr., a Harvard-educated economist, grew to challenge the ruling pro-Western government for not being socialist enough. In an eight-page scholarly paper published in 1965, he argued for eliminating private farming and nationalizing businesses “owned by Asians and Europeans.”
His ideas for communist-style expropriation didn’t stop there. He also proposed massive taxes on the rich to “redistribute our economic gains to the benefit of all.”
“Theoretically, there is nothing that can stop the government from taxing 100% of income so long as the people get benefits from the government commensurate with their income which is taxed,” Obama Sr. wrote.
“I do not see why the government cannot tax those who have more and syphon some of these revenues into savings which can be utilized in investment for future development.”
Throughout his career, Barack Obama has worked closely with a network of stone-cold socialists and full-blown communists striving for “economic justice.”
Yet a recent AP poll found that only 6% of Americans would describe Obama as “liberal,” let alone socialist.
Public opinion polls usually reflect media opinion, and the media by and large have portrayed Obama as a moderate “outsider” (the No. 1 term survey respondents associate him with) who will bring a “breath of fresh air” to Washington.
The few who have drilled down on his radical roots have tended to downplay or pooh-pooh them. Even skeptics have failed to connect the dots for fear of being called the dreaded “r” word.
But too much is at stake in this election to continue mincing words.
Both a historic banking crisis and 1970s-style stagflation loom over the economy.
Democrats, who already control Congress, now threaten to filibuster-proof the Senate in what could be a watershed election for them — at both ends of Pennsylvania Avenue.
A perfect storm of statism is forming, and our economic freedoms are at serious risk.
Those who care less about looking politically correct than preserving the free-market individualism that’s made this country great have to start calling things by their proper name to avert long-term disaster.

Everyone underestimates a woman’s violence and rage.
Bernadine Dorhn was far more violent; she was more of a leader; and she was and is way smarter than Bill Ayers.
Bernadine Dorhn physically placed the bomb in the US Capitol. Bernadine Dorhn sang a SONG about how she paralyzed a man for life after a bombing.

You people just don’t get it. Politics is politics and people expect to be attacked and they expect battle, but when you get a empty suit, polititician who is wet behind the ear come out and call Bill and Hillary Clinton Racist for political gain and use race bating to win the nomination, that is not political strategy that is down right dirty and nasty. Everyone knows that those two have spent their entire life fighting for minorities, their record is there and it is proven. Not only that say what you will about Bill Clinton’s Presidency I bet you each and everyone of you would rather be enjoying those times today than what we are getting now. Obama clearly disrespected Bill and his Presidency when he tried to say that Reagan was the greatest president in recent years, that is a slap in the face and it was disrespectful coming from a so called Democrat. Bill has every right to be angry, he did not go after his politics, he went after their souls and you will never understand that, especially the young people that have not a clue what’s going on, and then you have someone that has been close to you, that knows your heart and they go and side with that person, for nothing other than political gain. I would never ever have anything else to do with them. Richardson is talking tough now because Obama looks like he may pull it out, but he better watch it because there are still weeks left in this campaign and if you look at both McCain and Palin’s history as underdogs they always manage to come out on top. I won’t even call him a traitor. I just would not call him a friend or acquaintance. Period

Bill Clinton owes him nothing. Loyalty used to mean something. I guess Richardson doesn’t know the meaning of the word.

I never like Bill Richardson anyway, the Clintons don’t need him. did you know Bill Richardson is the son of illegal immigrants??? He was an “anchor baby” his parents crossed the border to have him and went back to mexico so they could cross legally. I don’t even consider him a citizen!!!

QUOTE:
Hello everyone,
I just wanted to pass along that Senator Obama came to Bagram, Afghanistan for about an hour on his visit to “The War Zone”.
He got off the plane and got into a bullet proof vehicle, got to the area to meet with the Major General (2 Star) who is the commander here at Bagram.
As the Soldiers were lined up to shake his hand, he blew them off and didn’t say a word as he went into the conference room to meet the General. After he finished, the vehicle took him to the Clamshell (pretty much a big top tent that military personnel can play basketball in or work out in with weights) so he could take his publicity pictures playing basketball. There he again shunned the opportunity to talk to Soldiers to thank them for their service.
So really he was just here to make a showing for the American’s back home that he is their candidate for President. I think that if you are going to make an effort to come all the way over here you would thank those that are providing the freedom that they are providing for you.
I swear we got more thanks from the NBA Basketball Players or the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders than from one of the Senators, who wants to be the President of the United States. I just don’t understand how anyone would want him to be our Commander-and-Chief. It was almost that he was scared to be around those that provide the freedom for him and our great country. What an ass.
Not one of the soldiers here is voting for him, and we don’t think anyone in their right mind would. We wouldn’t even vote for him as dog catcher if that was an elected official.
If this is blunt and to the point I am sorry but I wanted you to know what kind of person the presidential candidate really is. What you see in the news is all fake.

Obama could care less about our men and women in uniform. He is an “arrogant elitist” who loves cameras and oportun photo-shots with people that “matter” in his campaign. He is narcissist – who only cares about himself (his ego).
Or, he thinks that we forgot how he did not bother to visit our wounded soldiers in Germany during his infamous trip to Berlin…He was more interested in photo shots with the European socialist crowds at the Brandenburg
Gate (what an “a-s”!)
I get a sense of creepiness every time I listen to That One’s “pretty speeches”, especially when he has the audacity to speak about our men and womwen in uniform! He should first wash his mouth before he utters a word about our troops!
Shame on you Barack Hussein Obama.

Will one of you Clinton Lovers please explain to me what makes Bill Richardson a traitor? Because he once worked for Bill Clinton, he’s required to blindly endorse Bill Clinton’s wife for president for no reason other than she’s married to someone he used to work for? You people are truly beyond reason, so I won’t even try having rational debate with you. It’s impossible.

Glad Bill Richardson likes being Governor. I expect that will be his last hurrah. Bill thought by selling out his friends and the people who basically made him he could get to be Obama’s VP. Well Bill your gamble didn’t work. Obama or Clinton supporter everyone can relate to what you are. Each of us in our lives has been betrayed by someone we trusted. The lesson learned Bill is that when you screw people to get ahead sometimes in the end it’s you that gets screwed!

Anyone who uses the word ‘traitor’ on this issue is crazy. Bill Richardson had to make a choice between Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. We all had to make that choice. He decided Obama would be the better president. More than half of those who voted in the Democratic primaries and caucuses came to the same conclusion. We all had a right and responsibility to make that judgement. Don’t call someone a traitor because their choice was different from yours.

If That One is elected as our President, there would be NO DOW to worry ourselves about. Barack Hussein Obama is a MARXIST who will bring “Real Change” in our country…he will abolish the DOW – the rich will give their money up to feed Obama’s “middle class”. Now that is “real change” – the “miracle” we have all been awaiting for from “Messiah Obama”.
Wake Up America! Say NO to MARXISM!

I’m with Bill — Richardson. The proof that power corrupts is that Bill Clinton thought all these people would be beholden to him for the “favors” he doled out. Bill Richardson was chosen by Clinton for posts, he fulfilled them admirably and that was his “payback.” To suggest that he has to tow the line not for Bill Clinton but for his wife as well is just how corruption works.

For you Republicans that keep bringing up Ayers :
What McCain didn’t mention is that he has his own Bill Ayers—in the form of G. Gordon Liddy. Now a conservative radio talk show host, Liddy spent more than four years in prison for his role in the 1972 Watergate burglary. That was just one element of what Liddy did, and proposed to do, in a secret White House effort to subvert the Constitution. Far from repudiating him, McCain has embraced him.
How close are McCain and Liddy? At least as close as Obama and Ayers appear to be. In 1998, Liddy’s home was the site of a McCain fundraiser. Over the years, he has made at least four contributions totaling $5,000 to the senator’s campaigns—including $1,000 this year.
Last November, McCain went on his radio show. Liddy greeted him as “an old friend,” and McCain sounded like one. “I’m proud of you, I’m proud of your family,” he gushed. “It’s always a pleasure for me to come on your program, Gordon, and congratulations on your continued success and adherence to the principles and philosophies that keep our nation great.”

So far the only ones I’ve seen on news today that registered multiple times to vote, are black. Coincidence? One girl, Latisha, in Ohio, said that there are 15 ACORN people in the stree to every person? She was “forced” to register over and over.
Axlerod needs to shoot off a memo to ACORN, as they can lose this if the voter fraud is traced to Obama campaign.
Why is it only African Americans I see registering multiple times? This ACORN group needs to go away, or they will lose it for their “chosen one”.
This black guy in WI had the cashews to stand up at the rally today, and ask McCain to hit Obama hard on Ayers, Wright, all his anti associations THAT THIS BLACK GUY WANTS McCAIN TO HIT HARD ON.
I know the economy is what BO campaign wants front and center, as if he’s the money man (don’t get that), but we are down to the final 3 weeks and relationships not worthy of a President WILL BE EXAMINED.

Natasha are you that stupid? I got this from HillPac in my email today:(there was a video attached)
“Hillary sure has been busy lately! After a weekend campaigning in California and Texas, Hillary went to New York to speak at the eighth annual Eleanor Roosevelt Legacy Committee luncheon. Speaking to a packed room, Hillary called this a turning point election – and reminded us what it might feel like November 5th if we fall short.
Hillary reminded everyone what is at stake in this election, especially for women, and how important it is we do everything we can to elect Barack Obama and Joe Biden this fall. ”
Doesn’t seem to me that they are backing McCain. I was an avid Hillary supporter and I am smart enough to see that McCain and Fluffy aren’t good for this country. Therefore, I will vote Obama.

I have not seen either Bill or Hillary killing themselves for Obama since March ’08! And, good for them!!!
The Clintons owe absolutely NOTHING to Obama! He made his own bed and he will have to sleep in it!

She has been pretty busy and Bill has been doing his part. You are bitter wench who needs to really look at what you are voting for.
There are a handful of you that say you supported Hillary that will vote for McCain. If you ever really did care what she stands for and has fought for, there is no way you could ever vote McCain.
Grow up and get some big girl panties and quit thinking that you will teach the Democrats a lesson by voting for the McCain.

Obama’s Class War “So Wrong for America”
Lynn Forester de Rothschild, appearing on Campbell Brown’s “Election Center” on CNN, offered one of the most trenchant arguments against Barack Obama’s presidential campaign I’ve heard in months.
Forester de Rothschild grew up in middle class New Jersey, and she says the class war Barack Obama would declare is “so wrong for America,” via Newsbusters:
Here’s the introduction from her Wall Street Journal essay:
If Barack Obama loses the presidential election, it may well be the result of a public perception that he is detached and elitist — a politician whose expressions of empathy for hard-working Americans stem more from abstract solidarity than a real connection to the lives of millions of citizens.
Suggestions that Sen. Obama has failed to relate to working- and middle-class voters in swing states have dogged his campaign for months. His choice of Sen. Joseph Biden as his running mate only marginally corrects the problem.
While Obama supporters attempt to dismiss the charges about their candidate’s perceived hauteur, they confuse privilege and elitism. Elitism is a state of mind, a view of the world that cannot be measured simply by one’s net worth, position or number of houses.

Let’s All Watch One More Time as CNN’s Campbell Brown Gets Put in Her Place
Quote:
“Because it’s Friday we should take a breather and enjoy watching CNN blowhard Campell Brown get put in her place.
Scenario: Brown, fanatical water carrier for Barack Obama, can’t come to grips with the fact that former Hillary Clinton fundraiser Lynn Forester de Rothschild now supports John McCain.
Brown gets mean, defensive, and perhaps a bit angry before calling Rothschild a bitter elitist. Rothschild was fine up to that point and then makes Brown eat her lunch.
Added bonus, Rothschild explains to the world why a Hillary Clinton supporter should want to support John McCain. Groovy.”
Partial transcript:
BROWN: All right. Lynn, let me ask you finally. I mean, I understand you’re still a Democrat. You’re not going to leave the party.
DE ROTHSCHILD: Right.
BROWN: To some people invariably, it’s going to sound like you’re bitter. Hillary Clinton didn’t get the nomination, this is your way of getting even.
DE ROTHSCHILD: You know what, Campbell? Barack Obama went and he called the people who have guns and cling to their religion bitter. The people out, you know, who are the rednecks or whoever are bitter. If bitter is the easiest way for you to rationalize that I truly with all my heart believe that John McCain will be a great president, then call me bitter. But it doesn’t really advance the dialogue, Campbell, sorry.
BROWN: All right.

marianne-
If you are intelligent enough to go to Harvard then you should expect to be hired by the best. In this case it’s the American people. Obama is not president, but times sure look like they could move toward 1929..though I doubt it.
Colin Powell is a great man…he is Humble…but the election is between Barack Obama and John Mccain. This country allows you to vote for the candidate you choose…it does not want you to vote against anyone.
It’s amazing what excuses people use because they are too afraid to say what they really feel. Why don’t tell us the real reason you don’t want to vote for OBAMA…you can say it…we know..

Richardson is an opportunist and is only serving to further his position with Obama. Bill Clinton has gained the respect of Republicans as they finally realize that unlike other Democrats he really did work for what was best in this country, his personal failings pale in comparison to the mismanagement of Washington under Pelosi and Reid and the prospect of a veto proof Congress under the direction of Obama is chilling. Bill has one hell of an ego, however he has definitely earned it. He has skills that Obama and McCain could only dream of posessing.

Ted Kennedy is the champion of the middle class in those same areas. There is no one in the last 100 years with theexception of FDR who championed the middle class.
Now unless you are a complete moron. You

‘Bitter’ Campbell Brown Brought to Heel by Lynn Forester de Rothschild
By P.J. Gladnick (Bio | Archive)
September 19, 2008
It was a beautiful sight to behold. The obviously pro-Obama Campbell Brown snarling throughout an interview at the heels of former Hillary Clinton fundraiser and now McCain supporter, Lynn Forester de Rothschild, for “daring” to switch sides. After several minutes of accusing de Rothschild of everything from being an elitist to acting as a traitor to the Democrats, Campbell Brown set herself up for the grand slam dunk by Ms Rothschild using the very words of the Lightworker to turn the tables on the CNN interviewer. First we see in the transcript how Campbell Brown begins with an elitism charge against de Rothschild (emphasis mine):
CAMPBELL BROWN: Now to the political story that everybody has been buzzing about today, the prominent Hillary Clinton fundraiser and big- time Democrat who came out for John McCain. And it’s not just that she is switching sides, it’s what she says about Barack Obama. She calls him elitist. That word a bit surprising for someone who is married to a billionaire. So let’s ask her about it.
Joining me live now, Lady Lynn Forester de Rothschild. Lady de Rothschild, is it OK if I call you Lynn?
LYNN FORESTER DE ROTHSCHILD: Please call me Lynn, Campbell.
BROWN: I absolutely will. So, you have to understand how ridiculous this seems to a lot of people. You’re a Rothschild. You’re married to a billionaire. You were a millionaire before you married him.
You’re a jetsetter. You live between New York and London. And yet, you’re calling Barack Obama an elitist. Are you not a member of the elite?
DE ROTHSCHILD: Let me tell you what informs my support of John McCain. I grew up in a middle class town in New Jersey. My father worked two jobs to put four children through college, law school, and medical school. We were taught that we were blessed by God to live in the greatest country in the world. And if we worked hard we could have anything.
And the truth is, I have it. I don’t have to be doing what I’m doing supporting John McCain, but I am doing it because I really believe it’s John McCain and Sarah Palin who will keep this country the way that I was taught this country.
BROWN: OK. But the point –
DE ROTHSCHILD: They are the great Americans.
BROWN: But I think –
DE ROTHSCHILD: So, please, you know, the class war that Barack Obama would like to declare in this country to divide people is so wrong.
BROWN: OK, we’ll stop there.
DE ROTHSCHILD: I have basic –
BROWN: Just stop there for a second. Let me ask you a question because you didn’t answer my question. I assume, I guess that you came up through a middle class background. But I was accurate in describing your lifestyle, is it not?
(CROSSTALK)
DE ROTHSCHILD: Let me — right, you did. You described my lifestyle.
BROWN: OK. But let me ask you specifically to tell me, then, what has Barack Obama said that has caused you to come to this conclusion that he is so elitist and out of touch?
DE ROTHSCHILD: OK. I wrote this piece in the “Wall Street Journal” last week if you want to look at it. What I said is that the Democratic Party has a very bad history with the likes of Adlai Stevenson and people who think they are grander than the rest of us.
Barack Obama –
BROWN: So what makes you think — what’s he said that makes you think this guy thinks he’s grander than the rest of us? Specifically, be specific.
DE ROTHSCHILD: You know what? OK, a lot of it is you know it when you see it. This is a person who went to Berlin to speak to 200,000 people. This is a person who made speeches about how he is the one that the world has been waiting for. He came into this campaign talking about audacity. Where I come from, audacity is not a good thing. It’s modesty and simplicity and being in politics to help people…
BROWN: OK.
DE ROTHSCHILD: … not to advance yourself.
BROWN: But — but –
DE ROTHSCHILD: That’s why I admire John McCain. What I said in my piece –
Then Campbell Brown suggests that de Rothschild is somehow a traitor to the liberal cause:
BROWN: But let me ask you — let me ask you about the issues here, because if you look at the major issues in this election, the war in Iraq and the economy, what everybody in all the polls says are the most important issues in this race. Hillary Clinton, the candidate you supported and you worked hard for, she could not be any more different than John McCain on these issues, but her positions are nearly identical to Barack Obama.
So it sounds like the issues aren’t important to you, aren’t what you’re voting for. You’re voting on personality, right?
DE ROTHSCHILD: Campbell, no, you are so wrong. First of all, Hillary Clinton is not in this race. So let’s talk about John McCain and Barack Obama. No one –
BROWN: But the whole point of you being here, Lynn, let’s be honest, is that you were one of Hillary Clinton’s biggest supporters and biggest fundraisers so you making a switch is what’s making news. Anybody else making a switch wouldn’t make news. So I’m trying to get at what it is about Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama who are identical in all of these –
(CROSSTALK)
Source:
http://newsbusters.org/blogs/p-j-gladnick/2008/09/19/bitter-campbell-brown-brought-heel-lynn-forester-de-rothschild
ROTHSCHILD: OK, let me tell you — let me tell you why I am a Democrat. I am a Democrat because I believed — I believed in the Democratic Party’s sense of fairness, sense of fair rules, and most of all, that they would be there to protect the middle class, the family I came from, the town I came from, the people I care about, the people who make America great. I believe in this — OK.
And now, ladies and gentleman, we come to the moment you’ve been waiting for…the grand slam dunking of Campbell Brown. First Campbell inadvertently sets herself up by calling de Rothschild “bitter”:
BROWN: All right. Lynn, let me ask you finally. I mean, I understand you’re still a Democrat. You’re not going to leave the party.
DE ROTHSCHILD: Right.
BROWN: To some people invariably, it’s going to sound like you’re bitter. Hillary Clinton didn’t get the nomination, this is your way of getting even.
And now the slam dunk:
DE ROTHSCHILD: You know what, Campbell? Barack Obama went and he called the people who have guns and cling to their religion bitter. The people out, you know, who are the rednecks or whoever are bitter. If bitter is the easiest way for you to rationalize that I truly with all my heart believe that John McCain will be a great president, then call me bitter. But it doesn’t really advance the dialogue, Campbell, sorry.
Ouch! And now Campbell Brown limps away into the distance:
BROWN: All right.
Well, thank you for being here, Lynn Forester de Rothschild. Appreciate your time tonight.
To truly savor the slam dunk moment, you really need to see the video of this encounter. It was reminiscent of a wayward dog being brought to heel by Barbara Woodhouse.

Jesus, I wouldn’t speak to that TOAD Richardson either, after his offensive smear against Hillary Clinton in his speeches to Hispanics! Bill Richardson is a Judas, and he’s going to rue the day he threw in his fat ass with Obama. Toady Richardson will end up under the bus, or exposed as the sexual harrasser he is one of these days. Pathetic, Bill.

Human beings are human beings. They have the right to endorse who they want and if that hurts a friend, that friend has a right to be hurt.
But in defense of the Clintons- no matter what ever happens between them and a former employee or friend- no matter what that friend says about them in public- you will notice that they never hit back in public. They never criticize that person in public ever.
If Bill RIchardson had any class, he would stop answering nosy questions about his relationship with the Clintons, since it is really no one’s business.

Posted by: Stephanie | October 9, 2008, 9:14 pm 9:14 pm

A patriot is a person who puts the well-being of his country ahead of personal considerations. Richardson considered the consequences and opted to endorse Obama. In my opinion, he put his career on the line. He endorsed what he believed to be the best for the United States rather than endorsing his friends of twenty years. Mr. Clinton had a problem with that. So did his wife. Carville said he was Judas. That’s gotta be tough for a Catholic to hear. I think it was an act of consummate courage. Hillary could have eked it out. But Richardson stood by his principles. Bill has no principles.

Richardson obviously was never The Clinton’s friend but just merely a opportunist. He is truly a disgusting backstabber and i understand why Bill won’t talk to him again.. But don’t worry Richardson: what goes around comes around!

It’s a good thng Bill Richardson doesn’t have the freedom to make up his own mind, huh ?
Good thing that Bill Clinton appointed him to a post, not Hillary, Huh ?
I didn’t know that you shouldn’t be able to endorse who you feel would do the best job, huh ?
Good thing that YOU PEOPLE get to decide everything for everybody, huh ?

Bill Richardson has never done anything- that didn’t benifit bill richardson. Get a life at least a political life-he was for hillary when it looked like she was running away with it-and switched horses at the finish line-thinking he could garner the VP spot by claiming he could bring in the latino vote-he can’t-and Hillary didn’t need him because she HAD the latino vote. BR is strulling in a latino state to put Obama over the top-richardson isn’t popular in his own state and may not be reelected-he is corrupt and self serving as are alot of other politicians-And for those obama supporters who are SO STUPID to keep dishing this trash about the clintons-you don,t get it-I have been working my butt off to get other Hillary supporters to support obama-honey you ain’t gonna win without them-so let me put it bluntly-shut the “F” up until this election is over-I am working too hard to let you numbskulls blow this

When Gov Richardson kept the nation in “suspense” while deciding which candidate was better for HIM, for his career and political future, he unfortunately enforced the latino stereotype of “oportunismo” . It has been argued that he had a “democratic right” to endorse Sen. Obama; however, his individual freedom to choose or his personal agenda within the party is not the real issue/problem, but rather his lack of loyalty to his constituency. In pursuing his political interests he acted against those of the Hispanic/ latino community that he -as one of their political leaders- should have always represented. The diverse Hispanic/latino community and its vote was united behind the candidacy of Sen. Clinton who represented their concrete interests and had knowledge of their needs, problems and socio-economic aspects of their countries of origin. Gov Richardson’s credibility is damaged. The “Richardson factor” and his endorsement might have helped only him and not Sen Obama who still needs to explain how he will pay for all his “change” promises and to get the key vote of the important Hispanic/ latino minority group in November…

The problem with what Richardson did was that he told Bill Clinton repeatedly that he would either stay neutral or endorse Hillary. He lied to Bill’s face at the same time that he called Obama and told him that he would endorse him after he came back from vacation. Bill C. tried to reach him while he was vacationing and Richardson never returned his call. Right before his endorsement was made public he called Hillary, he didn’t have the nerve to call Bill C.
Richardson IS a traitor. A man’s word is his bond and he broke his promise. THAT’S why Carville called him a Judas.
After what he did he’s surprised that Clinton won’t talk to him? Please…….

From above:
“In case you moron were still a piece of stone in the 1990s, for your education, the Clinton Administration brought about an unprecedented period of peace and prosperity in the history of this country.”
Exactly how did Clinton bring that about?
Apparently the world’s best kept secret.
I’m sure the Republicans would like the magic economic potion that Merlin Clinton apparently came up with.
Give me a break. He was just at the right place at the right time.
As for peace, I guess the first WTC bombing, Somalia and Bosnia were just drunken parties that got out of hand.

The Clintons are the traitors. they have sabotaged the Democratic party.
I return all Democratic requests for money until they kick out the Clintons.
The Clintons only support themselves. They are as bad as the republicans.
May they all end up n hell

JUDAS! And quit fanning the flames talking about Bill Clinton. I wish he or James Carville had slapped the sh** out of you, Richardson! Worthless!!!
NEVER cross our Clintons. We never forget.

Richardson is a stupid, ignoramus who most of us would never have heard of if not for the Clintons. He couldn’t even carry his own state. He’s pathetic. Obama has built a machine that has replaced the old Democratic party and be afraid, very afraid…

Posted by: JKIR | October 10, 2008, 10:27 am 10:27 am

Bill Richardson does not have to talk about these personal matters. This doesn’t show much political or personal wisdom. Sounds like he was not up front with his long time friend Bill Clinton. Why would Clinton want to be personal friends with someone who was not honest and forthright with him? We have only ever heard Richardson’s side of this.

Why is judas still rambling about bill clinton. Get over it judas, he’s over you. Follow your own advice and move on. Loser.

How sad that the only way Bill Richardson can get press is by talking about Bill Clinton.
As he demonstrated in the debates, Richardson is a nut case who had no business running for President – that is why he never got more than a single digit percentage of votes in any primary.

Bill Richardson proved he is his own man and made the right endorsement for the right candidate based on great political instincts.
As for former President Bill Clinton, he is a smart and articulate man but suffers from poor judgement from time to time in his relationships with people.
Before Bill Clinton becomes judgmental of others, perhaps he should remember how he let the his country, his party, and his family down with the Lewinsky affair.
Emotionally smart leaders know how to forgive, forget and move on. We owe Bill Richardson a debt of graditude for his contributions in bring Americans home from out of harms way.

don’t know what’s more scary, the cover up by the MSM for Obama, or his brainwashed Nazi Youth supporters like Bethb, who typically respond to any questioning of their Messiah with an angry barrage of hate filled insults.
Guess what Obots, your candidate was never vetted at all and has run the most corrupt campaign in history.
Better get used to people like Natasha, and millions of others who will only make sure to find out about Obama especially if he does steal the Presidency.
get used to it. He will never escape the upcoming scrutiny.

Bill Clinton is a very bad example for Americans and the rest of the world. Bill Richardson is a much better man than Bill Clinton. Governor–you don’t need Bill Clinton. He needs you, for you have more integrity than he does.

Collin Powell acted on whatever information the CIA was giving him and GW! And our CIA relied heavily on informatiom gathered by the German Intelligence Agency.
I have great respect for this charismatic and honorable, and above all “humble” man (unlike arrogant Obama)
I wish Collin Powell was running for President.

VOIGHT: My concerns for America
Obama sowing socialist seeds in young people
“We, as parents, are well aware of the importance of our teachers who teach and program our children. We also know how important it is for our children to play with good-thinking children growing up.
Sen. Barack Obama has grown up with the teaching of very angry, militant white and black people: the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Louis Farrakhan, William Ayers and Rev. Michael Pfleger. We cannot say we are not affected by teachers who are militant and angry. We know too well that we become like them, and Mr. Obama will run this country in their mindset.
The Democratic Party, in its quest for power, has managed a propaganda campaign with subliminal messages, creating a God-like figure in a man who falls short in every way. It seems to me that if Mr. Obama wins the presidential election, then Messrs. Farrakhan, Wright, Ayers and Pfleger will gain power for their need to demoralize this country and help create a socialist America.
The Democrats have targeted young people, knowing how easy it is to bring forth whatever is needed to program their minds. I know this process well. I was caught up in the hysteria during the Vietnam era, which was brought about through Marxist propaganda underlying the so-called peace movement. The radicals of that era were successful in giving the communists power to bring forth the killing fields and slaughter 2.5 million people in Cambodia and South Vietnam. Did they stop the war, or did they bring the war to those innocent people? In the end, they turned their backs on all the horror and suffering they helped create and walked away.
Those same leaders who were in the streets in the ’60s are very powerful today in their work to bring down the Iraq war and to attack our president, and they have found their way into our schools. William Ayers is a good example of that.
Thank God, today, we have a strong generation of young soldiers who know exactly who they are and what they must do to protect our freedom and our democracy. And we have the leadership of Gen. David Petraeus, who has brought hope and stability to Iraq and prevented the terrorists from establishing a base in that country. Our soldiers are lifting us to an example of patriotism at a time when we’ve almost forgotten who we are and what is at stake.
If Mr. Obama had his way, he would have pulled our troops from Iraq years ago and initiated an unprecedented bloodbath, turning over that country to the barbarianism of our enemies. With what he has openly stated about his plans for our military, and his lack of understanding about the true nature of our enemies, there’s not a cell in my body that can accept the idea that Mr. Obama can keep us safe from the terrorists around the world, and from Iran, which is making great strides toward getting the atomic bomb. And while a misleading portrait of Mr. Obama is being perpetrated by a media controlled by the Democrats, the Obama camp has sent out people to attack the greatness of Sen. John McCain, whose suffering and courage in a Hanoi prison camp is an American legend.
Gen. Wesley Clark, who himself has shame upon him, having been relieved of his command, has done their bidding and become a lying fool in his need to demean a fellow soldier and a true hero.
This is a perilous time, and more than ever, the world needs a united and strong America. If, God forbid, we live to see Mr. Obama president, we will live through a socialist era that America has not seen before, and our country will be weakened in every way.”
