Showless Joe? McCain’s Everyman Plumber Misses Morning Event
ABC News’ Bret Hovell Reports: Maybe Joe the Plumber was out on a job. But he wasn’t out campaigning with Sen. John McCain Thursday morning.
Joe Wurzelbacher has been a regular part of McCain’s stump speech for the last several weeks, and so anticipation was high this morning in Defiance, Ohio, when McCain seemed set to finally meet his middle class foil.
But when McCain acknowledged him in front of the crowd, Joe was no where to be seen.
Speaking in the western Ohio town of Defiance, McCain was delivering the normal “Joe the Plumber” section of his stump speech, talking about how Joe was able to ask about a question of Sen. Barack Obama that no one had been able to ask.
Then, the moment of anticipation.
“Joe’s with us today. Joe, where are you? Where is Joe?” McCain asked, looking around the audience for Wurzelbacher.
“Is Joe with us today? Joe, I thought you were here today.”
McCain quickly figured a way to recover.
“Well, you’re all Joe the Plumbers!” McCain said, allowing the crowd to break the awkward silence. “So all of you stand up!”
McCain staffers called it a simple mix up, and said that Wurzelbacher will join the campaign at a Thursday evening event.

Joe was probably at the bank cashing those checks the GOP has been giving him to read the script they give him. Has anyone checked to see if his IRS debt has been “taken care of”? Some people will do or say anything in the name of the almighty dollar.

Next Wednesday morning, you will see TV footage from Obama’s coronation event in Chicago’s Grant Park showing hysterical, weeping, cavorting, fighting, swearing Obama minions who are angry and confused that The Marxist One and his merry band of America-haters, terrorists, racists and felons lost.
Beginning next week, when Americans talk about colossal failures they will mention the movies Ishtar and Heaven’s Gate — and they will mention Obama.
Obama is a bad, bad news for America

Thompson quote “He needed to make himself look totally white,” he said, adding Obama should have acknowledged that even though his skin is slightly darker, he’s still a regular human being.
“It’s going to come down to whether the average Joe or Jane accepts Barack Obama as an African American or a human being,” he said.

For those who think Joe (er, Sam) the Plumber is being unfairly attacked:
He represented himself on Facebook as Union Plumber – of course the local union is PO’d, any responsible union chief would have looked to see if Joe was union as soon as he was on TV to spread the news. Then when he turned out to not be union…
The Toledo Blade undoubtedly also would have wanted to do a local color story – in the process of pre-investigation they find out unsettling things. In the process of checking his credentials the Blade contacts the local authorities to see who Joe works for and they can’t find a license for Joe. The county auditor then finds he owes taxes – at that point full record searches are totally legit.
Don’t tell me you death penalty pushing neo-cons wouldn’t make a stink about a Democrat icon that owed taxes.
Don’t even think you wouldn’t.
Joe is going to get what he deserves and I damn well hope he does.

Apparently Joe hasn’t been promised a Cabinent Position yet, like Colin Powell was by Obama, so he still has his own life and problems.
Or maybe we should use another HIGH profile ex-retardican who has been promised a cabinent postion by Obama as an example. AFter all the Dummycrats just love to show off when they get one thing. And then of course there are the lies, and deceptions when other things are discovered that they don’t like.
How about the “TAPE” that the LA Times says they have, that conveinantly they won’t release? Or the “just the guy in the neighborhood” or the well “I taught at the same school as the guy”. It could easily be, “well I met him in the Mental Institution where he wrote his ideas down.” But people just don’t understand him!
I am tired of the whole thing, just shut up and go away. If you don’t have any real news stop trying to make some.

Plumbers decide whether or not to join the Plumbers Union. The union does not decide who is and isn’t a plumber, a bricklayer, a carpenter, an electrician, or anything else. Fewer and fewer craftsmen from all trades are joining unions these days because unions do nothing for their workers any more. By supporting Obama, the unions are supporting the unions and their graft, not their members.
The bad thing about Joe is that McCain’s campaign is going to use him and then toss him aside. His life is over as he knows it. Keep an eye on Joe after the election. See what happens to him. Obama and McCain will do he same to you if you give them the chance.

Concerned American,
One last thought before I sign off for the day.
Your admission that there is zero mentioning of nuclear energy in 0bama’s Democratic Party Platform is a truth-telling reality of this man. It tells us how deceptive 0bama really is.
He gives feeling-good speeches, only speeches, that he would consider nuclear energy but immediately pointing out its danger and waste scare. In reality, his Policy Platform shows that he has absolutely no intention, ZERO, NADA, to pursue the use of nuclear energy under his government.
This is a fatal flaw for the long-term security of the country. This is simply too short-sighted, as a result of a lack of understanding of the origin of War and War and War. It’s all for the oil, stupid.

to katz, desperation has truly set in, hasnt it? yes, lets remove all those “socialist” programs…hmmm, medicare, social security, medicaid. As for the “Maverick”, McCain hired the same gang that Bush used against him in 2000 and he’s getting just what he deserves.

McCain is a fascist, like Mussolinis Italy.
Fascism – political philosophy, movement, or regime (as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition.

I’m curious… this is a sincere question:
To the people on the (religious) Right who use “socialism” like it’s a four letter word – what’s so wrong with it?
I’m amazed at the negative attitude toward ANY concept that comes remotely close to “seeming” like “socialism” in that the U.S. is “suppose” to be a Christian nation. It doesn’t seem like “Christian” Republicans are very Christ-like at all…

A Word from Your Candidate of Hope
Friends,
I’m coming to you today to encourage you to vote for me in the coming election. I step up at this time of economic hardship brought on by the greedy powers that be to champion you, my hard working countrymen.
Money grubbing bankers have destroyed our economy and made it nearly impossible to even do business. I will change that. I will act to stop the greed of those who would oppress you, and spread their wealth into the hands of those who need it.
Around the world our nation is despised for the illegal war my predecessors perpetrated on a sovereign nation. I will change that. I will bring back respect to our great nation. I will make it strong again, and bring peace to this great land.
We are victims of a class war that the other side refuses to acknowledge. I will change that. I will break down their strongholds and bring fairness back into the public discussion.
Our youth is mired in a sea of hopelessness and despair. I will change that. I will provide programs that pay for their education, and allow them to take their rightful place in society.
My opponent represents the old guard, those same people who plunged us into two illegal wars of aggression. Yes, he is a decorated hero, and he has accomplished much in his time, but he is old. His time is past. It is now our time to step into the spotlight and show the world what new hope we can bring.
My opponents claim my supporters (you) have used underhanded tactics to swing this election. Do not believe this. They are afraid of the power you wield.
They claim it is frightening the way your express your support for me. They deride my “celebrity” and they mock you when you come and hear me speak. They mock your enthusiasm. They ridicule your hope. They are afraid of your passion. But I believe in you and you can believe in me.
My opponents claim I have no experience, that my only attraction is the way I speak, or the fervency of my followers. They say my only claim to fame is as an author of an autobiography, and that I have only promises in my hand. But I have led a great campaign to rise from obscurity to the chosen candidate of millions of my friends and neighbors. I do bring hope. I bring the hope of change. I will change this great nation. Just give me Germany for 10 years and see what I make of it!
Sincerely,
A. Hitler

To all you folks posting negative comments about McCain and Joe The Plumber.
Have fun. Enjoy it while it lasts before the election.
Vote for Obama – the biggest con man ever. Obama – The trogan horse for a George Soros administration.
Let’s all ignore Obama’s bad judgement having so many associations with racists, Marxists, bombers, and members of the PLO. No problem.
It is going to be a close election, so what are all you democrats going to do if you lose? I mean you guys spent a lot of money to buy the presidency. You have been working at getting the oval office for years – without success.
Do you really think enough of the American people are stupid enough to vote for Obama based on empty words of hope and change?
I think the polls are really missing the real numbers.
I think you might want to prepare for riots in the larger cities caused by all the people the democrats have promised this election to. They won’t understand that the democrats in the press and working the polls lied just to try to win the election.
They will feel cheated.
They will probably take their anger to the streets.
To all you democrats, thanks for screwing up the country just you did in the 60′s …

I love reading the republican predictions on how everything is going to go to hell if Obama wins.
Do you really think people believe you??? You were WRONG about bush. You predicted that this country would be respected around the world, you predicted that we would all be rich, you predicted that bush would be a great president. You were WRONG then, and you are WRONG now. And this is why no one is listening to you, and they are voting for OBAMA!
bush is the lowest rated president of all time! He is even making the other lowest rated president of time, republican president nixon look a little better.
You guys are always wrong. How pathetic can you be, you republicans.

Geez, perhaps the biggest reason for me NOT to support YOUR candidate is because you guys are REALLY mean people.
But then I saw that Obama has got a bit of a mean streak in him too that showed up during his debates with Hilary. I watched the Democratic debates because I wasn’t absolutely crazy about any of the Republicans. When I watched your messiah act snarky and make faces at Hilary; well, I had to hope Hilary got the Democratic nod. McCain is too far left for the Republicans and Obama is WAY too far left for middle America.

America has always has socialist policies sprinkled in with capitalism.
Anyone with a basic education in economics knows this is what is best for a nation to be healthy and wealthy.
The safest, healthiest, happiest nations in the world are free market economies with socialist programs.
If you don’t think so, go learn history and how it took socialist program to end child factory labor, or give women equal rights. Also, don’t forget Social Security.

I am more or less immune to the promises of either Presidential candiate, but once again this morning I listened to Senator McCain promise that he will bring the troops home with “Victory and Honor”. Disregarding the not-so-faint echo of Nixonian rhetoric which accompanied the drawn out end of Mr. McCain’s (and my) war, I have to say this:
Our troops come home with honor because they serve with honor, not because of any claim of “Victory” or acknowledgment of “Defeat”, whatever those terms might mean in this situation. The Senator confuses honor with glory, and glory is among the poorest reasons to put our sons and daughters in harm’s way. As someone who claims to serve the best interests of our military, the Senator should know better.

Racists are losing this contest for McCain. It’s not a part of the national campaign, but rather a part of local politics. His supporters are not talking about real issues, but worst yet are leaving the impression among those critical swing voters, that this contest is all about race. Truly sad for a candidate who has spent much of his career fighting for campaign finance reform among other moderate to central leaning concepts. When running for president, candidates typically lean towards their party’s base during the primaries and move to the center for the general election. McCain has taken the opposite approach, which leaves myself to wonder if this election process has been rigged from the beginning. Unfortunately, this process is going to end with further division, and greater partisanship.

I am John McCain, know locally as Mr. Magoo, I am a reverse socialist. I take from the poor and give to the rich. I believe in class warfare. I support the very rich, since I am a member of this class. My wife has never worked a day in her life, her father left her a beer brewing distributor. She redistribute beer. She is a redistributer of beer. Obama is a redistributer of taxpayer dollars from the rich to poor. More like a Robin Hood and Santa Claus. Robin Hood is a marxist, socialist, communist. He is not like McCain who is a fascist, nazist, Jim Crowist, KKK.

All the jokes about the IRS and frozen pipes aside, what is the deal with Joe the plumber? Joe would clearly be better off financially (at least tax wise) with Obama’s tax plan, so why does McCain keep bringing him up as an example?
Well here is my theory: Joe symbolizes the dream of one day being very rich. The dream goes like this; one day Joe is going to own a plumbing business that will make him very rich. When that day comes, Joe is not going to like the idea of having to pay any more taxes than he paid when he was working hard to become rich. Of course statistics show that Joe is overwhelmingly unlikely to every make enough money to be required to pay more taxes under Obama’s plan, but we don’t want statistics to get in the way of our dreams. McCain wants you to put aside reality and dream. He wants you to vote for him and his tax plan that favors his rich buddies, under the fantasy that one day you will be one of his rich buddies.
Bush used this same phycology with his plan to eliminate the “death tax” (inheritance taxes). Only a tiny portion of Americans have a large enough estate to owe any taxes when they die. I believe the exemption is about $2,000,000, meaning you would have to have an estate worth over $2,000,000 in order to have to pay any estate taxes. There are no taxes due at all for estates going to a spouse. So why did so many Americans want to see the estate tax eliminated altogether? Only 1 in perhaps 1000 Americans would have to pay inheritance tax anyway so why did we care? The answer is again, that we want to dream about being so rich that we will have to give 40% of our $100,000,000 estate to the government, and it seems so unfair.
Bottom line, Obama’s tax plan is much better for the overwhelming majority of Americans. In addition it has been shown over and over again that the idea of lowering taxes for the wealthy as a way of helping the economy and balancing the federal budget simply does not work.

He was confusingly vague as he stated that he did not know he would be used in the debate but that he did get a call from someone asking him to go out to see Obama…
Posted by: Marie | October 30, 2008, 1:03 pm 1:03 pm
It sure is very, very odd how the actual plumbers union is supporting Obama. No fake wannabe plumbers, just the real thing. Fake plumber Joe is one guy, who probably isn’t even registered, while the plumbers union has 400,000 members, most of which will vote for Obama. Why in the world idiots keep repeating the same old tired line about union corruption, when the real experts on corruption all work on Wall Street. Did you know that the fastest growing segment of unionized workers are actually not construction workers or factory workers, but office workers.
By the way, do you have any idea how long it takes or the money it takes to build nuclear power plants. Try on a minimum of $4 billion and at least 10 years. Sort of like drilling our way out, it would take about the same amount of time to get oil moving from new oil rigs in off the coast. Besides, it must not be that profitable. News came out this morning that at least 20 of the almost 100 offshore rigs being planned or already under construction have been canceled in the past month, with more to follow.
McCain followers may as well settle into their cribs and suck their thumbs because after the 4th they will be SOL. Palin can go back to Alaska and be indicted, then she will disappear.

Beginning next week, when Americans talk about colossal failures they will mention the movies Ishtar and Heaven’s Gate — and they will mention Obama.”

Has anyone bothered to ask Joe if he wanted to run the business as a sole proprietor, or whether his income of 270k was Net or Gross – because it seems likely that that income was GROSS and that mean that after dedicting his costs he probably made less that 250k and so would get a tax CUT. Otherwise – WHY would he be complaining? Maybe he just does not understand his own taxes…..

McCain is not prepared. He wasn’t prepared for this speech, he wasn’t prepared enough to know if Joe W. was present, and he’s not prepared to be our president. He does not have basic skills needed to determine right from wrong, good from bad, and safe from reckless. Be gone with him.

Obama is the Hugo Chavez of the United States and we will never accept him as our president. So let him win by taking the liberal northern states and the Left coast. Then Alaska and the South will be mobilized to secede and form our own nations.

Joe the plumber has to be the most depressing thing to happen in this campaign. It only illustrates how desperate and delusional the McCain Campaign is as well as the following who actually believes in this guy’s story. I thought for sure that after his story was debunked, showing that he didn’t have a plumbers license, made 40K and owed back taxes, that his presence would be obliterated. But sure enough – leave it to the McCain campaign to take this average Joe and raise him to the level of actually campaigning for the nomination of president. It clearly is a desperate attempt at drawing some kind of relationship between an old, rich, out of touch codger and the everyday man. This guy even agreed that a vote for Obama is a vote for the death sentence to Israel… What an idiot. If McCain is elected (not likely) it will be a sad, sad day in
America and will only legitimize the world view that the U.S. is a country populated by 51 % morons and Joe the Plumber will be our new poster boy.

Standing people up? Joe sounds selfish – just like all McCain supporters.
Obama pointed out that the Repub criticism of the Dems’ mantra of “Spread the Wealth” is like trying to call selfishness a virtue.
This is the bottom-line, and the argument Obama should have made months ago. This is what Joe doesn’t get while he’s trying to go from an unlicensed shmuck to owner of his own small business:
Socialists, Marxists and far left liberals are MORALLY SUPERIOR to the Repubs and anyone believing in capitalism. We Dems need to stop running from the socialist/Marxist label. There’s nothing wrong with it — it is a sign of how generous we are compared to Repubs who are selfish by definition.
Conservatives believe that selfishness is human nature, and that our Constitution and capitalist economic system “harnesses” people’s self-interest (that is, selfishness) and directs it to the public good. If a capitalist does well, all those he employs, buys from, gives charitiably to, etc. “do well.”
Of course, Conservatives believe that people can be self-less and compassionate — but that doing so is “a personal choice” and cannot be “dictated” by the state.
What malarkey! The state has to dictate morality, or else the Conservatives would treat unborn fetuses as if they were people and force women to not have a choice.
We are our brothers’ keepers. The state must FORCE people to not be selfish, and FORCE the morality of spreading the wealth.
Obama proves that he is a transformational force – and a morally superior one at that.

Joe was stuck at one of McCain’s seven homes fixing a leak. While working on McCain’s pipes, he realized if he used the RNC platform of scare tactics, he may be able to convince McCain his homes were in danger and get more money.
Joe doesn’t show to give credibility to his plan. He calls McCain and tells him “Mr McCain, your leak is a lot more serious than originally thought. I discovered WMD (waste, manure and deadly dust) and unless you allow me to get rid of the WMD, your leak could spread to all of your homes via human carrier”
McCain is scared and says to Joe. “Please rid of my home of WMD and do not worry about the cost — the tax payers will pay for it”
Years later McCain will discover that there was no WMD and curse himself for teaching Joe about Karl Rove/Bush scare tactics. Tactics that the RNC adapted as their platform.
Conquer and Divide McCain’s motto. Country First for the rich by promoting trickle down economics (social programs for the rich)that doesn’t trickle. McCain hires Joe to keep his economic plan clogged so it never trickles.

He may be flawed but he is real and B)that so many people have been so overtaken by Obama’s charisma, they fail to see that he has time and again proven poor judgement in his associations, fails to truly understadn the threats to America and that he lacks the necessary experience for the job. Come on people, he doesn’t have enough experience to run a fortune 500 company let alone the Unite States of America.

America is showing what they want. While McCain can’t fill a high school gymnasium with supporters, Obama is filling stadiums. This is a clear sign that America needs change, in a real and meaningful way. McCain has voted for the same things the President supported 90% of the time. This means he was part of the current problem. America sees this. A vote for McCain is to put a bullet in the head of America. The Bush Tax Cuts gave billionaires and huge corporations billions in tax cuts, while the middle class lost key deductions. The GOP is too wrapped up in the process of serving only the wealthy, that they forget that the people who are not wealthy make up 95% of America. The average American is tired of prices going up, wages going down, and products going up in price. We are hurting out here, and the vote is going to reflect that. For those of you people out there who don’t make more that 250,000 dollars a year, your taxes will go DOWN. That means there will be a Tax increase only for 5% of America. That 5% will now be paying a similar percentage of their income in taxes as the rest of us, which is only fair. The rich need to carry their share of the weight. There is a whole new political demographic out there right now. They are the Anti-Republicans. Those folks out there who simply hate the things that the last eight years of GOP rule have brought. So, the pendulum swings….

Something has happened in the last 8 years. Fear mongering right wing wingnuts have hijacked the Republican party. The party has imploded, being overrun by an angry illiterate racist lynch mob. Thanks to people like “Joe” the bogus plumber (he talks more like a closet Aryan nation extremist than a Republican), Sarah Palin the Alaskan secessionist, and John McCain the total sellout to special interests, the Republican party is a flaming wreck. What exactly do you think they’re doing when they repeatedly refer to “real America”? You don’t see them putting down *individuals* because the Obama campaign hasn’t had the gall to prop up and hide behind a partisan shill portrayed as a simple everyday man who just happens to spout divisive rhetoric and GOP buzzwords like “socialism”. Democrats will enjoy their second landslide win in 2 years next week not because they’ve done a good job, but because the GOP has failed so completely, thoroughly, and arrogantly. Good riddance.

You republican are to funny, you have Attacked and Attacked everyone that does not support McCain. Then you want to praise Joe the Plumber. Joe “The Plumber” Wurzelbacher. To many he seemed perfect– maybe a little too perfect for the role he was playing: Joe Six-Pack.
It turns out Mr. Wurzelbacher is not a licensed plumber. He’s not a licensed plumber, yet he is planning on starting his own plumbing business. Hmmmm. It also turns out that Mr. Wurzelbacher had a tax-lien placed against him because he owes $1,183 in back taxes.
It also looks as though Joe Wurzelbacher is related to Robert Wurzelbacher, the son-in-law of Charles Keating of Keating 5 fame. Readers will remember that John McCain was involved in the Keating 5 scandal. Both Charles Keating and Robert Wurzelbacher went to prison for corruption. Robert Wurzelbacher is now out of prison and a big donor for the Republican Party.
Of course it could all be a coincidence right? Well, here’s another funny coincidence: Joe the Plumber lived in Arizona from 1997-2000. He lived at 1960 W. Keating Ave in Mesa, Arizona. There’s that name again– KEATING. It turns out that Keating Ave is named after– you guessed it– CHARLES KEATING, who developed the real estate in the 1970s.

Hey republican losers (no really, after tuesday your party will have lost it all) McShame was on Larry King, and he said Obama wasn’t a socialist! Whose wrong, you or McShame? Here’s a website with McShame saying so: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/10/30/obama-not-a-socialist-mcc_n_139294.html
So how about it??? Which one is wrong, you, or McShame??? One of you are wrong, which one????
Now I know you will have all kinds of crap to say, but when you are done with that, it all comes down to which one of you are wrong, you, or McShame?
If McShame is wrong about Obama, then what else is he wrong about. If you are wrong about Obama, then why do you keep lying, and why should anyone listen to you??
So which one is WRONG? Republicans, Wrong again!
President Obama! Get used to it!

To True Blue American:
The “rich” pay the majority of the taxes and keep Americans working. You are a whiner and jealous of the successful. This is a free country. If you don’t like your situation, get a better job or more education. Don’t blame successful people for your problems. Those problems are yours. Crybabies!

From US News and World Report:
1) Hike Investment Taxes. Obama wants to raise capital gains taxes even though he has admitted that it might be bad for the economy and might actually decrease tax revenue to the government. For now, he’s talking about raising the highest cap gains rate by one third to 20 percent, though earlier in the campaign, he floated pushing it as high as 28 percent, a near doubling. (Recall that Democratic presidential contender John Edwards wanted to raise it as high as 40 percent, a move that was applauded by liberals who want investment income to be taxed as onerously as labor income.) With the next administration facing a trillion dollar budget deficit—maybe more—there will certainly be pressure to raise taxes to higher levels than now being suggested.
2) EELIMINATE 401(k)’s, IRAs, and other retirement plans. Democrats in the House are now talking openly about the longtime liberal DREAM of repealing the tax advantages of putting money into a 401(k) plan or other tax-advantaged retirement account. “The savings rate isn’t going up for the investment of $80 billion [in 401(k) tax breaks], we have to start to think about whether or not we want to continue to invest that $80 billion for a policy that’s not generating what we now say it should,” said Rep. Jim McDermott, a Democrat from Washington at a recent hearing, according to an industry trade paper.
Indeed, House Democrats recently invited Teresa Ghilarducci, a professor at the New School of Social Research, to testify before a subcommittee on her idea to eliminate the preferential tax treatment of the popular retirement plans. In place of 401(k) plans, she would have workers transfer their dough into government-created “guaranteed retirement accounts” with a 3 percent real return. Wow, three whole whopping percent, year in, year out.
Not only would removing the preferential tax treatment of these vehicles raise investment taxes by $100 billion a year and affect Americans making less than $100,000, it would surely prompt many Americans, already shell-shocked by the market’s recent losses, to flee stocks. All this ignores the fact that there are trillions of dollars in American retirement accounts, and abandoning the higher-returning stock market at a probable bottom is classic financial foolishness. If you believe long term in the American economy, then you have to believe in the stock market. If you don’t, then you have to admit the government won’t be able to afford its promises anyway.
3) Replace private capital with public capital. But wouldn’t a weak stock market hurt the economy by making it tougher to raise investment capital and lessen the return on risk? Surely, it would. But Obama is planning hundreds of billions of dollars of government “investment” in cutting-edge technology, particularly in the energy and healthcare sectors. One specific example: Obama wants to create something called a “Clean Technologies Venture Capital Fund” and invest $10 billion a year in emerging energy technologies. Now, the private VC industry is already pouring billions into alternative energy, but Obama thinks that’s not enough and wants Uncle Sam to get in on the action at taxpayer expense. Interestingly, a new study by the University of British Columbia looked at the performance of the Canadian government’s venture capital efforts. It found that government venture capital IS NOT as successful as private venture capital.

The whole point of this is that, asking a question of a Candidate, is not only a right, but a duty. Why is the candidate’s people publically attacking the person asking the question? Is every person that ask’s a question of any public official going to be attacked in public? It is about the candidate and not the person asking the question.
Heck, I am for Obama and it makes me puke that this is happening.

Nothing is going right for McCain. They speak of his leadership but he can’t even command a proper campaign… now even his key actors are going missing at key rallies! I can’t possibly imagine how he would run a responsibility that is GAZILLION times bigger than his campaign – the United States! He would go AWOL! Or “suspend his Presidency” when he runs into rough patches. Can’t figure anyone who’s still enamoured by this so-called leadership which he can’t even demonstrate in the biggest campaign of his life!

“Where’s the beef?” I’m waiting for McCain to send Cheney loose with his shotgun… “I’m Cheney the Gunner!”

For those concerned that McCain was somehow endorsing Obama when he said they had nothing to fear with Obama in the White House, wake up and stop spewing your foolish garbage. McCain knows that America is a strong country that can overcome any challenge; even an Obama presidency.
Your Obama is a great magician: Punish those providing jobs and healthcare in the name of fairness. Out of the other sleeve, he will conjure up jobs and provide healthcare. Amazing. I hope free massage Friday is next.
Has anyone looked in to the number of jobs imported in to the USA? Or do we all just look at jobs exported overseas? Many of the “foreign” products we use are made by American workers right here on American soil. For those pathetic souls that don’t understand economics, I’ll offer a tip: in order for capitalism to work for you, you have to get off your butt and do something. “The U.S. Constitution doesn’t guarantee happiness, only the pursuit of it. You have to catch up with it yourself.”-Ben Franklin
“When you see a rattlesnake poised to strike, you do not wait until he has struck before you crush him.”-President Franklin D. Roosevelt (Bush Doctrine?)

If I hear “why not try the smart one” one more time I think I’ll just scream! Why would you ever compare wits between a man that has been so sneaky in his climb up the ladder than the only people that had ever even heard of him were the people that support communism and radical ideologies? That spells out danger in my opinion – come guys – open up your eyes – do we REALLY want someone that has obviously been involved with and befriend people that HATE us? I got an email from a life-long friend of mine today – we always agree to disagree on many issues lol – This email stated that republicans are blowing the socialist issue out of proportion – I don’t get that at all honestly – I’m a democrat, always have been! I do however, have to side with the conservatives for this election – simply based on the FACTS that this man has been involved with far more dangerous people that John McCain and Sarah Palin combined – do I like either of them? Not particularly (can’t really think of many politicians that I cared much for though) – BUT I DO LOVE MY FREEDOMS – I have 4 daughters that will hopefully one day have their own children – I would love to preserve the freedoms that have been provided for us by thousands of people whom lost their lives for that very reason – right or wrong, we’re still all here and able to practice the religion we choose, speak the words we so desire and live the lives that almost ALL AMERICANS have the opportunity to do – People SHOULD NOT be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character – Why is it that most Americans are only seeing Obama for a “black” man? If you don’t want to judge someone by the color of their skin, then why are so many Americans only voting for him because he’s black and has wonderful speaking skills – The vast majority attorneys (Especially those that are as educatedsmart as Obama? possess that VERY same quality!
But since when do we trust attorneys? Come on people – do your homework – research Saul Alinsky’s book “Rules for Radicals” and you will see exactly where Obama’s strategy came from!!! It basically says to target the “middle class” and break them down to right where you want them, then speak of “change & hope” – with the ultimate goal of creating a “classless” society – don’t just take my word for it – PLEASE do your own research!
God Bless America and have MERCY on us ALL!

Barack Obama discovers a leak under his sink, so he calls Joe the Plumber to come
and fix it. Joe drives to Obama’s house, which is located in a very nice
neighborhood where it’s obvious that all the residents make well over $250,000 per
year. Joe arrives and takes his tools into the house. Joe is led to the room that
contains the leaky pipe under a sink.
Joe assesses the problem and tells Obama, who is standing near the door, that it’s
an easy repair that will take less than 10 minutes.
Obama asks Joe how much it will cost. Joe immediately says, “$9,500.”
“$9,500?” Obama asks, stunned. “But you said it’s an easy repair!”
“Yes, but what I do is charge a lot more to my clients who make more than
$250,000 per year so I can fix the plumbing of everybody who makes less than that
for free,” explains Joe. “It’s always been my philosophy. As a matter of fact, I
lobbied government to pass this philosophy as law, and it did pass earlier this
year, so now all plumbers have to do business this way. It’s known as ‘Joe’s Fair
Plumbing Act of 2008.’
Surprised you haven’t heard of it, senator.”
In spite of that, Obama tells Joe there’s no way he’s paying that much for a small
plumbing repair, so Joe leaves. Obama spends the next hour flipping through the
phone book looking for another plumber, but he finds that all other plumbing
businesses listed have gone out of business.
Not wanting to pay Joe’s price, Obama does nothing. The leak under Obama’s sink
goes without repair for the next several days. A week later the leak is so bad that
Obama has had to put a bucket under the sink. The bucket fills up quickly and has to
be emptied
every hour, and there’s a risk that the room will flood, so Obama calls Joe and
pleads with
him to return. Joe goes back to Obama’s house, looks at the leaky pipe, and says
“Let’s see – this will cost you about $21,000.”
“A few days ago you told me it would cost $9,500!” Obama quickly fires back.
Joe explains the reason for the dramatic increase. “Well, because of the Joe’s Fair
Plumbing Act,’ a lot of rich people are learning how to fix their own plumbing, so
there are
fewer of you paying for all the free plumbing I’m doing for the people who make less
than $250,000. As a result, the rate I have to charge my wealthy paying customers
rises every day. “Not only that, but for some reason the demand for plumbing work
from the group of people who get it for free has skyrocketed, and there’s a long
waiting list of those who need repairs. This has put a lot of my fellow plumbers out
of business, and they’re not being replaced – nobody is going into the plumbing
business because they know they
won’t make any money. I’m hurting now too – all thanks to greedy rich people like
you who won’t pay their fair share.”
Obama tries to straighten out the plumber: “Of course you’re hurting, Joe! Don’t
you get it? If all the rich people learn how to fix their own plumbing and you
refuse to charge the poorer people for your services, you’ll be broke, and then what
will you do?”
Joe immediately replies, “Run for president, I guess.”
Obama is the modern day Robinhood. Do you really believe that you can make the poor richer by making the rich poorer? Wake up America!

Just curious…when will people wise up that the current economic situation is NOT just a Republican thing. It’s an American thing. Both parties have contributed a massive amount to the crisis. Have you even heard of NAFTA? And the world economy…I guess the trouble in Japan, Europe and China are also due to the Republicans? If we could just quit with the catchy partisan pathetic slams (McSame/Nobama, etc.) and actually WORK TOGETHER, we would have a much better chance of finding solutions. Those who just blame it on Republicans have blinders disease.

McCain and many others have tried asking these questions. However Obama just answers everything as “you’re trying to get away from the issues that affect americans blah blah blah” or “continue the Bush policies of the last 8 years.”
Obama is like one of the toys where they have about 4 preprogrammed responses.

For all of you misrepresenting Obama as being a socialist I suggest you follow this link to the web site of the American Socialist Party (yes, there is such a thing). http://www.sp-usa.org/
There you can read what the philosophy of socialism really means. Anyone with any intellectual honesty will see that Obama is not promoting real socialism in any way.
BTW, if any of you want to vote for a real socialist then you can cast your ballot for the presidential candidate from the Socialist Party USA; a man named Brian Moore. Interestingly enough, in an interview with Stephen Colbert last night he said he’s never met Obama… :-)

To Shari:
McCains Track Record
Friends: Annenberg(friend of Ayers)Keating (convicted felon) Byrd (former senate colleague and KKK member.
Foreign Experience: Shot down over Viet Nam. Visited a whole lot of places once.
Senate Expereince: 30+years (one of the old cronnies)
Economic Message: Give more to the wealthy and the money will trickle down – HA.
Political Platform: Pick a person totally unqualified to be president as my running mate, and try the same platform as Bush.
Middle East: Haven’t heard anything from him about that.
Iraq: The surge worked, please forget all the other blunders we made that I voted for.
Acorn: Keep bringing it up and hope people believe me.
The difference between yes we can and yes we will – yes we can means we will all work together to make it better, yes we will means I will force you to except it.
McCain simply means more of the same. That hasn’t worked.

Chris in Texas,
You are a case study of the uninformed.
Obama: Yes he will “Punish those providing jobs and healthcare in the name of fairness.”
McCain’s plan more than compensates for any tax cost by providing a $2500/$5000 tax credit. Your current healthcare deduction averages under $2000/$3500. The average household will come out ahead $1500/year.
You need to look a bit farther than your cronies talking points and lies.
Posted by: frankilin | October 30, 2008, 2:02 pm 2:02 pm
Yeah people are right Obama isn’t really a socialist. He believes in keeping businesses private and just taking all their money. The following definition applies more to his “spread the wealth” mentality.
Communism -
A system of government in which the state plans and controls the economy and a single, often authoritarian party holds power, claiming to make progress toward a higher social order in which all goods are equally shared by the people.
The Marxist-Leninist version of Communist doctrine that advocates the overthrow of capitalism by the revolution of the proletariat.

I’m not here to state my political affiliations, but to those that thinks it’s obamas fault joe’s life is dug into:
It was McCain who made “joe the plumber” a permanent part of his speech. Obama talked to him one time. They both mentioned him in the debate the day after his Obama encounter but McCain made him a permanent fixture.
Of course the media will dig up dirt on him. That’s all they seem to do

All of you McCain/Palin supporters seem to have forgotten or dismissed the fact that McCain was “Paling” around with terrorist….. Come on now, lets be for real here. If your going to be honest you need to start with yourselves. McCain is 1000 years old and that means Palin will probably end up being the President. THINK ABOUT THAT….. Palin as PRESIDENT…. Sir John has made hash out of the “socialist” conspiracy he seems to see around every corner. Hey, John…what’s wrong with socialism, anyway??? America is in serious trouble. This man from Ohio asked Senator Obama a simple question, one which the Obama campaign has deflected throughout the campaign. The campaign turns its guns toward “Joe” and digs up “dirt,” ridicules him, etc (a classic tactic, straight from Saul Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals). Another Alinsky tactic is to play on the individuals’ desire to be victims. The problem with America is that Americans have become lazy, spoiled, self-absorbed victims. The Obama campaign has played upon this to perfection. It goes like this…You poor, downtrodden “middle class.” Those evil, rich elitists (not like Senator Obama, who obviously grew up in a log cabin and “understands” you) have continued to take what is really yours. It’s not through hard work and education that they got that way. It’s because they were born with a silver spoon in their mouths. And all the things they have are your birthrights. So your Saviour, Senator Obama, will take yours back from them and give it to you. Then you can stay at home, not work at all, and have all that you want. Have any of Obama’s supporters looked into his voting record, or lack thereof? (That was a rhetorical question. It’s obvious that you are hypnotized by his infomercials and empty promises).

Sorry dude. Sure, I come out about equal. But McCain’s does nothing to help people who do not get health care through their employers. A $5000 credit doesnt help a person who doesn’t pay $5000 in income tax does it? Since I’m an independent voter I tend to look beyond “talking points” – republican and democrat. McCain’s health plan is nothing more than a gift to health insurance companies.

“A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury.”
We need to be having bipartisan discussions about this topic, especially with the ideas floating around these days.

Please, can someone just tell me what ‘Joe the Plumber’ is supposed to represent? Seriously!? He lied about wanting to buy his plumbing business, he lied about how much money his business would make. He spouted a racial comment regarding Obama (that he danced better than Sammy Davis Jr.) that is dismissed as ‘regular folk’ talk. He actually discussed Israeli policy with some equally inane person in a crowd. So what does ‘Joe the Plumber’ represent for the McCain campaign? And why do regular Americans think this guy is one of them? He’s one of them if you’re behind on your taxes, I guess. He’s a joke, yet McCain and his followers are besotted by this questionable character. It defies logic.

Most of these blogs seem to be from KIDS.Joe the Plumber, believe it or not, it very representative of the middle class American. Tired of the old dems in office and want to see change. Not Obama change-Mr. Marxist. I agree, next Wednesday when his supporters awaken, they will be sadly and angrily upset. All the money in the world won’t be able to put Obama in the White House.
Some of you need to grow up with your comments. Maybe Daddy & Mommy should stop paying your bills an you will truly understand what terrible shape the economy is in. Not what you learn in your liberal arts college.

McCain/Palin keep talking about Obama will raise your tax. True if you are the top 5% Americans with higher incomes. And McCain/Palin’s talking points only focus on the top 5% of Americans who will be paying higer taxes. For the rest of 95%, it is not affected. I am puzzling why McCain backers can’t figure it out? Unless you are going to be the top 5% anytime soon, I don’t see anything you should be worried about the tax code under Obama’s policy.

Top Ten McCain Campaign’s Excuses for Joe’s AWOL
10. Joe’s “gone rogue”.
9. Joe is a “diva”.
8. Joe’s a “whack job”.
7. Media biases caused Joe to disappear.
6. Joe’s on a $150,000 shopping spree.
5. Joe’s huddling with his advisers on 2012 run for the President.
4. Joe doesn’t always agree with McCain on when to show up, but that makes it “a lot of fun”.
3. Joe is holding his own town-hall event.
2. Joe is Defiant, but just not in Defiant, Ohio.

The International Republican Institute, an organization McCain has chaired since 1993, provided funds to the Center for Palestine Research and Studies, an organziation co-founded by Khalidi, during the 1990s — including $448,873 in 1998 for the organization to conduct surveys of the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
Yet again on the campaign trail we have had McCain and Palin pointing a finger at Obama for a purported relationship with Khalidi when in fact it is McCain who has financially supported Khalidi. FINANCIAL SUPPORT FROM MCCAIN FOR KHALIDI. McCain and Palin are both liars. Our country deserves better.

This “Joe” is a real threat to everything civil. He comes across as an unassuming everyday guy, but he must realize somewhere that he is being used to further the McCain campaign’s divisive agenda. “Joe” was not attacked at all for his views. He approached Obama and lied about his credentials and was vetted by McCain, who used him during the 3rd debate. The media found out about this guy as a result of his encounter with Obama being referred to many times by McCain during the debate. Let’s be honest here, “Joe” is a dishonest person being used by a dishonest candidate in a dishonorable and despicable way.

Some people aren’t first time voters or simply naive. They put more weight to a politician’s voting record than their campaign slogans as to what they will actually do. Obama’s voting record shows that tax increases are not limited to people over $250K even though it sounds nice. A couple other contributing factors.
1. Obama has already admitted with the financial problems he “won’t be able to everything he planned.” He won’t state what that means.
2. Obama has also “changed his mind” aka broken his word on several things in this campaign.
3. Clinton campaigned on cutting taxes on the middle class. However once in office he raises the rate on everyone making over $20K a year.
I guess I must be right wing for simply not “believing.”

I don’t know how many people understand the concept of the marginal tax rate. It only applies to whatever one makes above a certain tax bracket. It would not apply to one’s entire taxable income. For instance, using the current tax rates as an example:
Your income up to $8,025 is taxed at 10%.
From $8,026 to $32,550 it is taxed at 15%.
From $32,551 up to $78,850, it’s taxed at 25%.
From $78,851 to $164,550, the rate is 28%.
From $164,551 to 357,700, it’s taxed at 33%.
From $357,701 above, it’s taxed at 35%.
For someone whose taxable income is 175,00, for example, the AVERAGE TAX RATE is only 21.8%, which is much lower than this person’s tax bracket of 33%.
Obama is only going to raise the Marginal Tax Rate for taxable income over $250,000, while letting the tax be either unchanged or significantly decreased for income lower than this. What this means is that the tax increase for those making over 250K is only 39.6% times whatever difference is btween 250K and the next lower tax bracket.
http://www.smartmoney.com/personal-finance/taxes/whats-your-average-tax-rate-9548/
So from this example the Marginal Tax Rate for someone making 164,550 is 33%.

Most of them, and most CEO’s, favor Obama. See the news.
Posted by: Numbers | October 30, 2008, 2:59 pm 2:59 pm
Chris in Texas:
I’ve heard this argument before. It’s not true.
Heard of tax refunds? Families that pay income taxes and pay more than $5000 in healthcare insurance, but have deductions down to zero, would get a refund of their paid income taxes. Families that pay for healthcare but do not pay income taxes would get an offset up to the $5000. The McCain plan also allows the excess to be used in a health savings account.
Under Obama (the current system), these individuals would apparently get no tax savings using your math. No taxes equals no refund. To be truthful, the current plan favors corporate tax payers over individuals. The main reason for McCain’s health insurance credit is to level the playing field in a way that allows the individual the same tax benefit as the corporation.
The government cannot sustain public health care in the US. Take a moment and multiply 300 million by 6 thousand for a scary annual expense. About triple the US annual military budget. That would be the minimum cost of public healthcare insurance and it would still entail co-pays and out of pocket expenses.
As for the 12% of uninsured in the US, many may buy coverage with the incentive of $5000 tax credit. Others will have the option of State funded care. The State fund would be partially funded by the Fed.
The part of Obamas health plan that is scary is that companies will have the option of paying a fine over paying for healthcare. How many times have big companies opted to pay the fine over fixing a problem?

Franklin – I agree that the govenment cannot sustain healhcare for everyone in the US. By no means do I support socialized healthcare. What bothers me about McCains plan is that he’s going to open health care to “competition” in the open market. By letting everyone “shop” for healthcare anywhere in the US he will allow insurance companies so set up shop in those states with the least regulation. In my opinion, that will reduce the quality of healhcare available to consumers under the guise of “choice”. I would like to see the government provide for those that cannot provide for themselves, however. As a society we are measured by how we treat our least fortunate citizens.

It’s going downhill. “Catching a break?” Sorry Davie. ALL Americans (and many others throughout the world) will eventually lose if Senator Obama is elected. I do not use the word socialism lightly. Senator Obama’s stated philosophies, associations, and VOTING RECORD are very clearly socialist (check out the Socialist Party’s website). However, in this election, those topics are off limits. You all are more concerned about whether Joe is “really” a plumber. I understand how easy it is to be hypnotized. It’s not your fault. The campaign has effectively used very powerful tactics. Of course your frustrated, and rather than looking objectively at the situation we face as a nation, Senator Obama has convinced you that your problems resulted from “the failed policies of George W. Bush,” and that he will be the Saviour who delivers you from this. The snarky Obama campaign will have you believe that when McCain says he doesn’t know something, he’s “senile.” (Maybe it’s because the problems are very complex.) When I first heard Obama speak, my first concern was that he wanted us to believe that he has THE solution to all of our problems. It became more apparent that he does in fact believe this. That is the historical elitism of socialism. And he has played you and millions of others like a fiddle. I can spot his hypnotized automatons from a mile away–”McCain is senile, blah, blah, blah, Palin is stupid, blah, blah, blah, Joe the Plumber doesn’t have a license, blah, blah, blah, rich people this, blah, blah, blah, Obama is not Socialist, blah, blah, blah, failed policies of George W. Locking people up without trial; taking away the rights of individuals in the name of national security; State control of private businesses like banks; Spying upon their own citizens in the name of national security; Denying the right to Habeus Corpus; Military tribunals; Creating a sense of fear by appealing to threats against national security; Creating a judicial system that favors the prosecution and instilling a sense of being unpatriotic for criticising the policies of the state…
All this and more we could expect under a socialist state.

Franklin,
McCain wants to eliminate the tax break for employer-provided insurance, while Obama wants to give a tax break to employers who provide insurance. Under McCain, without the tax break, many employers would have no monetary incentive to continue to provide health insurance. Nonpartisan studies have found that this would result in about 20 million Americans losing their health insurance supplied by their employer.
McCain says he would give every family a $5K tax credit, but their health insurance cost would actually be about $12,000. Many families would be unable to afford the $7K difference per year.
Obama would give tax incentives for employers to provide healthy insurance. Those that don’t, according to his website, would contribute a portion of payroll tax to offset this.
He would also regulate insurers, whereas McCain has talked about DEregulation of health insurers. We saw what deregulation did to Wall Street. Imagine what will happen when health insurance companies are deregulated, and, more over, allowed to cast a net nationwide for people shopping for lower premiums at the cost of little coverage or unfair exclusion criteria for coverage.
The majority of well respected economists, including this year’s Nobel laureate in economics Paul Krugman, favor Obama’s health plan. The American medical Association favors Obama and Biden’s plan.

You have got to be some smart aleck young Republican with delusions of having an education politcal science education. Am I Right?
Democrats are NOT socialists.
Democrats are NOT Marxist.
Democrats are NOT anti-capitalism.
Democrats are NOT claiming superiority.
Statements like yours, while you are perfectly entitled to hold them personally, are false and have a detrimental effect, in my opinion, and you disgrace the Democratic party by attempting to affiliate yourself with same.
I do not speak with any authority for either party, but I speak with common sense.
If you are in fact sincere, forgive me for being blunt. You do understand, don’t you, that your statement will be taken up as “proof” by the very persons you claim to be against.
I repeat, in my opinion you are a fake, planting material useful against the Democrats. If I am wrong, then you are a well meaning but politically innocent type of person, so forgive me, but take to heart my advice.

McCain has voted party line 88% of so of the time; Obama 97% of the time. McCains voting record and bill sponsorships indicate he is willing to go against his party to do what he believes. Obama’s voting record shows he is party line and refuses to risk political capital among his peers. It is logical people from the same party will vote similarly but McCain has significant bills he voted differently; Obama does not.
Let me guess “democrats are right more often that is why Obama votes party line” will be the next justification in the discussion. FYI everyone thinks their party/candidate is right more often.
Oh and do you care to discuss my other points. You tried flipping the debate to McCain since my points are valid; typical Obama defense.
1. Clinton campaigned on middle class tax cuts and raised them at $20K
2.Obama has changed his mind on several significant issues making his voting record even more important.
3. Obama’s voting record indicates higher taxes for middle class
4. Obama admits he “can’t do everything he would like” with the economic situation and does not elaborate.
This post was regarding Obama not McCain or Bush.

Thanks common sense. “Agent of change” and “Bush and his failing policies” are typical, empty, Obama talkpoints. Change is inevitable. As a fiscally conservative voter, I think President Bush has done an abhorrent job. But to blame the current state of affairs solely on him is naive. The policies of President Clinton played a huge role in the initiation of our current economic woes. Feel good tag lines, like “every American has the right to own a home” sound great and get people voted. But do we really have the “right” to own a home, if we can’t afford it? That also played a huge role in our current economic state of affairs. Having worked for the government, I am less and less inclined to believe that “it” can responsibly and effectively solve problems. It’s like the quote from Al’s earlier post. Americans are frustrated, and it’s like they smell blood…they have discovered [or at least have been led to believe] they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury.”

Maybe Joe watched Obama’s political infomercial and realized he’s been supporting the wrong guy all along. Why anyone in Joe’s economic position would vote for McCain and his Wall Street fat cat cronies is beyond me. I guess there are a lot of masochists in America.

“But to blame the current state of affairs solely on him is naive.”
I agree with you on this. The current situation in our country is a bi-partisan disaster. I guess the problem is that Bush was so arrogant about it – “I’m right and if you’re not with me then you’re with the terrorists”.
No matter who wins next week we, as a country, have a HUGE hole to dig out of. Our problems won’t be solved in months or maybe even years. If we are to have any hope of pulling it out of the fire we need to get behind WHOEVER wins and work for the good of the country. The future of our children depends on it. Are we mature enough to put aside the partisan BS that the mainstream parties and various media outlets dish out? I’m not sure.

Sounds like McCain was rehearsing his lines for election day as he stands outside of his local polling place…<>
“________ is with us today. ________, where are you? Where is ________?”
McCain asked, looking around the audience for ________.
“Is ________ with us today? ________, I thought you were here today.”

you can say whatever you like about McCain but I will never vote for a socialist as long as I live in USA. Why should the government have the right to determine what to do with a person’s wealth? Wasn’t that a fundamental question when this country was formed? Where am I, China? I don’t want someone elses earnings – do you? Get off your lazy but and make something of yourself instead of waiting for a handout.

Joe, you can gloat if Obama wins. You can also gloat if the sun rises tomorrow, or if an apple falls from a tree. If by chance, Senator Obama is elected President, and if by chance he does a good job, I will not be ashamed of my vote. I will come back on this site to allow you to gloat. This is not about me, or about infomercials, or about snarky little one-liners putting people down. In exercising my rights and responsibilities as a U.S. citizen, I have researched this election rather extensively (not just via infomercials and computer postings). As a result of my research, I have come to believe that of the two major candidates, Senator McCain is better prepared to serve the role–more experienced, more thoughtful, more humble, more wise, more rational, more patriotic, more respectable, more willing to “reach across party lines” to do what is right, and more fiscally conservative (though certainly not more “cool,” or hip, or smooth, or inspiring, or verbose.

Steve sez: “I don’t want someone elses earnings – do you?”
I assume that you will decline to claim your mortgage income tax deduction this year then? After all, that’s taking money from people like me to make home ownership more affordable for you. If that isn’t a socialist policy I don’t know what is…..

Chris in Texas,
I also agree that government providing ONLY for those “without” would be ideal. Of course, I would place some type of proof on the application for benefits though. Those that can afford coverage should pay for it.
If anyone cares what my ideal plan is, it is as follows: I would require mandatory health insurance for all citizens over 18/21 (just like auto insurance). It would be illegal to not have coverage. If you were caught without insurance, you would pay fair premiums to your state for basic coverage. State government would provide welfare type coverage for the poor.
As for tax credits over a tax cuts, I don’t mind propping up an individual over a corporation. I believe that more and more corporations will either drop or reduce coverage over time. Regardless of McCain or Obama. We need a system that keeps government from messing it up down the road, which means private.
The next fix is stopping government over spending. All these programs are going to be the US downfall. 120 billion/yr in Iraq is a drop in the bucket compared to the cost of all these special programs.

Dave – good for you dude. You did your research, decided which candidate you feel best represents you, and will vote accordingly. That’s what this country is all about.
While we may disagree on who to vote for I will never criticize someone for making a reasoned choice that differs from mine.

Questions:
When have McCain ever lead anything?
What are McCain’s McCain accomplishments?
McCain is an empty suit. He is a has been.
His last heroic act was back when he was a POW.
It has been all downhill from there.
So McCain supporters stop trying to pump this guy up as some patriot. He is not. He is a low road rogue that is trying to steal an elections on baseless tired old lies.
Honestly. Do you think he will get anything done as POTUS with a heavily democratic house and senate after he has ran a rogue campaign. He would be a lame duck on day one.

Cryos – You metioned about Obama’s voting records, so it’s valid to address McCain’s voting records as well; it’s not called flipping. McCain’s voting records including years of deregulation for greeds and frauds like Keating Five (wasn’t he one of the gang?) and admitted his “poor judgement” for involvements. And after he got away from the spotlight, he continue the trend of degreluation for greeds and eventually we have this credit mess from years of Republican succesfulness.
You want me to vote for the succesful Republican achivments? I have a bridge to nowhere to sell you in Alaska.

Great post Chris–Thanks! We obviously differ with respect to our vote, but I respect you and agree with you. The word “conservative” is thrown about a lot and for many has come to be synonymous with the fundamental Christian movement. I consider myself fiscally conservative, probably more liberatarian. I believe that the Federal Government should have a limited role in the lives of American citizens, certainly not meddling in social affairs (i.e., which religion, sexual preference, etc. is “right”). However, I do appreciate the necessary role of government. As for President Bush, I agree; he has the highest non-defense spending budget in history–certainly not fiscally conservative. But I do not believe that extremely liberal fiscal policies (and again I will use the word Socialists in Sen. Obama’s case) are ultimately destructive. By catering to the “I want it now” mentality, they often rob people of the dignity of learning from the consequences (usually painful) of their mistakes.

Has anyone checked the Watergate? That’s where they found the last bunch of Republican plumbers, remember?
Reading these posts explains a lot about how we got into the current mess. How sad that our fate is largely determined by people who can neither spell nor construct a grammatically correct sentence. It’s hard to give credence to illiterate, unintelligible rants, but it’s even harder to find lucid arguments based upon fact and reason. No wonder campaigns are ‘dumbed down’ to moronic rhetoric; real issues are obviously beyond many of the above posters’ comprehension.
The ‘Bridge to Nowhere’ is an apt symbol for the inept and corrupt policies of both parties, and we’ve pretty well proved that a ‘common President for the common man’ is a terrible method of government. Imagine what a difference we could make if at least one candidate were worthy of office.
A closing prayer:
Please, God, save just a few of our squandered tax dollars for education. The threat of ignorance far outweighs the threat of terrorism and, as you can see, we’re in dire straits.

Numbers,
Math eludes you despite your name.
An individual in the 18% tax bracket gets a tax break of $2160 on a $12000 family policy. The $7000 difference is moot. They have to cover nearly $10000 under the current system. If they have a company plan in a 35% tax bracket, they would save $4200. Still under the $5000.
Due to the current graduated tax, the current system actually rewards higher tax brackets and higher priced policies.
Deregulation was not the problem. We needed balanced common sense regulation. Not the free for all, everyone needs a house, regulation created in the late 90s. It was this silly no accountability lending practice that pumped up home values and gave loans to individuals/companies that failed to meet their obligations.
So far, the only individual that discussed this and tried to stop it, was Sen. McCain. During hearings this week, all economic advisors conceded that Fanny Mae and Freddie Mac were the primary causes. This crisis has been brewing for 40 years.

Why should the government have the right to determine what to do with a person’s wealth?
========================================
It’s called shared responsibility. Part of the cost for living in a country that provided you the opportunity to make as much money as you like. Those who have more should be expected to contribute more. Simple fairness. The sad thing is that too many people who neither have the ambition or drive to even make a $50,000 let alone $250,000 demagogue on this issue. The other demagogues are on the same level as the greedy bastards who got us into this mess to begin with.

The McCain shift towards attacking his opponent has avelanched into his supporters attacking whoever they suppose is also their opponent … and with blatant racism to boot. I think you guys posting this foul racist garbage might want to consider whether Mr. McCain would be proud of you, his friends, for uttering such despicable filth. About 30 minutes ago there was an actual debate going on that even included an element of respect for other people – that appears to have dissappeared to the extent that anyone who has entered comments here is now tarnished with these ignorant, hate-filled entries. In an interview with Larry King that aired last night, John McCain admitted that he doesn’t think Barack Obama is a socialist, which runs counter to most of his campaign rhetoric for the past week
Transcript, via CNN:
KING: You don’t believe Barack Obama is a socialist, do you?
MCCAIN: No. But, I do believe — I do believe that he’s been in the far left of American politics. He has stated time after time that he believes in “spreading the wealth around.” He’s talked about courts that would redistribute the wealth.
He has a record of voting against tax cuts and for tax increases. And I don’t think there’s any doubt that he would increase spending and he would, sooner or later, we would be increasing taxes. There is no doubt in my mind that that’s what his record — 94 times he voted to cut taxes — against tax cuts and for tax increases. He voted for — and that’s what matters. Not rhetoric. To raise taxes on individuals making $42,000 a year.
KING: Concerning spreading the wealth, isn’t the graduated income tax spreading the wealth? If you and I paid more so that Jimmy can get some for him, or pay for a welfare recipient, that’s spreading the wealth.
MCCAIN: Well, that’s spreading the wealth in the respect that we do have a graduated income tax. That’s a far cry from taking from one group of Americans and giving to another. I mean, that’s dramatically different.
Sen. Obama clearly has talked about for years, redistributive policies. And that’s not the way we create wealth in America. That’s not the way we grow our economy. That’s not the way we create jobs.

Dave, America needs more than your limited vision for how government and economics can work.
Vote for McCain if you can’t understand, but get out of the road if you can’t lend a hand. This time around the times they ARE changing.
Changing, because the last eight years have opened the eyes of more Americans than have ever been this politically activated before, if for no other reason than the enormity of present population.
Change because these activated patriotic people have chosen Barack Obama, who is an intelligent and exciting leader who understands the power of American progress.
Change, because the current economic crisis confirms the awareness that oil, the foundation of western civilization for the last century, is finite. Shuffling around mortgages and IOU’s is important now, but in the long run trivial. At some level, everyone understands that both the world financial system and the technologies of our homes, towns and cities, will have to adapt if peace, liberty and democracy are to prevail.
Change, because the era from Richard Nixon thru G.W. Bush — potentially continued with John McCain — presents no solution but to extend our nation in a kind of dull witted fog that blames poor people for poverty, blames people for lack of education yet encourages and profits from their ignorance.
McCain cannot lead America in dealing with the problems (and opportunities) ahead. His personality and behavior have already alienated most of what the knuckle-heads refer to as the “elite”. You know, the kind of silly folk who once wrote the U.S. Constitution or who explore the material and physical realities of the universe so industry could put that computer in front of you.
McCain thinks that he thinks like a fighter, I would say brawler. He is useless to the tasks at hand and challenges ahead. Solutions ahead have to do with physics and chemistry, not pre-emptive piracy and political bullsheet.
America needs more scientists and engineers (Halliburton notwithstanding) and McCain can only stir up Joe the Plumber aka Joe the Cannon Fodder. America need more modern industry, and John McCain lacks real interest in that (his sport is politics, nothing more).
Consider the many ages of human struggle and thought embodied in the Constitution of the United States. Consider the centuries of rational thinking and progress embodied in the science that results in, for example, the atomic bomb. These things I will vote to entrust to Barack Obama, not John McCain. They are of a different mind. Obama has the better mind for America now.
McCain has proven to be a poor student in school, proven to be an unfortunate and enduring but otherwise undistinguished Naval pilot with no signs of thinking at the admiral or general grade, proven to be a man best honored for his long established ability to extract himself from dilemas of his own making (marriage problems, poor judgment in association with James Keating, erratic political behavior and choices).
I sound too strident, probably verbose, so I conclude:
The campaign is not over. My hand is out to anyone, all my fellow Americans. I am proud of all who behave well in this difficult political time, and I understand the human weakness of those who don’t (leave the gutter, brothers).
Whoever wins, our duty will be to give him our help, if not our hearts, even our strongest criticism whenever that is deserved.

I am going to re-post this so Obama supporters voting for the first time can see how people with logical brains judge politicians in regards to taxation.

Barack “the socialist” Obama’s personal friends and circle of influence:
Frank Marshall Davis: Member and outspoken supporter of the American COMMUNIST Party. He is a Communist and lived in Hawaii until his death in 1987. Barack “the socialist” Obama writes about him in his book as “Frank the poet” that had a lot of influence on his early ideals.
William Ayers: Founder of the Weather Underground a FAR LEFT extremest terrorist organization. Here is a quote from Billy-boy Ayers from 1995- “I am a radical, Leftist, small ‘c’ communist … [Laughs] Maybe I’m the last communist who is willing to admit it. [Laughs] We have always been small ‘c’ communists…” WOW…! Barack “the socialist” Obama served on a board with Ayers, had his very FIRST campaign party fund raiser in Ayers home. Worked with Ayers at the U of Chicago and wrote positive reviews of Ayers marxist derived education system… Ayers had always lamented that in order to help the marxist communist agenda take off they have to “get to the children…” an idea that Obama supports by the positive “blurb” Obama wrote about Ayers book in the newspaper! So, that is why we see so many of these socialist college students fawning over and blogging on here about Barack “the socialist” Obama!
Rashid Khalidi:
From WorldNetDaily- The board of a nonprofit organization on which Sen. Barack Obama served as a paid director alongside a confessed domestic terrorist granted funding to a controversial Arab group that mourns the establishment of Israel as a “catastrophe” and supports intense immigration reform, including providing drivers licenses and education to illegal aliens.
The co-founder of the Arab group in question, Columbia University professor Rashid Khalidi, also has held a fundraiser for Obama. Khalidi is a harsh critic of Israel, has made statements supportive of Palestinian terror and reportedly has worked on behalf of the Palestine Liberation Organization while it was involved in anti-Western terrorism and was labeled by the State Department as a terror group.
In 2001, the Woods Fund, a Chicago-based nonprofit that describes itself as a group helping the disadvantaged, provided a $40,000 grant to the Arab American Action Network, or AAAN, for which Khalidi’s wife, Mona, serves as president. The Fund provided a second grant to the AAAN for $35,000 in 2002.
Obama was a director of the Woods Fund board from 1999 to Dec. 11, 2002, according to the Fund’s website. According to tax filings, Obama received compensation of $6,000 per year for his service in 1999 and 2001.
Obama served on the Wood’s Fund board alongside William C. Ayers, a member of the Weathermen terrorist group which sought to overthrow of the U.S. government and took responsibility for bombing the U.S. Capitol in 1971.
Ayers, who still serves on the Woods Fund board, contributed $200 to Obama’s senatorial campaign fund and has served on panels with Obama at numerous public speaking engagements. Ayers admitted to involvement in the bombings of U.S. governmental buildings in the 1970s. He is a professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
The $40,000 grant from Obama’s Woods Fund to the AAAN constituted about a fifth of the Arab group’s reported grants for 2001, according to tax filings obtained by WND. The $35,000 Woods Fund grant in 2002 also constituted about one-fifth of AAAN’s reported grants for that year.
THESE ARE JUST A FEW OF THE FACTS SURROUNDING THIS MAN THEY CALL “the one”
Again, these are undisputable FACTS! Do your own research if you do not believe me but this all comes from verified sources!
Barack “the socialist” is the MOST dangerous character we’ve seen come onto the political landscape in our Nation’s history!
Educate yourselves! Barack is a socialist and worse!

What’s more embarrassing than this?
The fact that the McCain campaign bused in 4,000 school kids to the rally……for a crowd total of 6,000!
Here we are, five days from the election in a battleground state, and McCain has to bus in thousands of kids just so we don’t hear the crickets chirping at his rally.
In a word: pathetic.

“Life, Liberty, and the Persuit of Happiness!
Those are the ONLY guarntees of the United States Constitution you bottom feeding socialists!”

You see, Bid Daddy, this is why education is so important before you presume to lead. The phrase you attempt to use is from the Declaration of Independence, not the Constitution. Also, the phrase is clearly written that “AMONG THESE RIGHTS are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” It’s a terrific document and you should read it.
The U.S. Constitution, on the other hand, sets out its purpose in the words, “We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”
Read that with respect, because many of us and our families have defend it with our lives. Quit calling people you don’t know “bottom feeding socialists” Do something useful, study. Or else get on a bus and go help John McCain fill his pathetic empty seats.

LOLOL!! “Socialist”…LMAO! Is that the talking point to run with for the next couple of days?? Oh…OK!! LOL! I guess the black radical nationalist memo didn’t stick, and that whole fake birth certificate thing didn’t work out, so its on to the last ditch effort of crying “socialist!”….oh, sheer comedy!
OBAMA-BIDEN BABY!

In Alaska all residents receive a cut of the windfall profits that big oil companies make. The residents don’t have to do anything except live in Alaska to recieve a share of the oil companies profits. Sarah herself has referred to this as “spreading the wealth”, so does that make her and the whole state of Alaska socialists?

Citizen of Chicago:
You are right… in all my frustration I quoted the WRONG document… I knew that, and having defended this nation… that is a life long commitment! So, I apologize to the masses for mis-quoting our great Decleration & Constitution! Having said that, if you socialists (because that is what you are if you support Obama) FACT! If you socialists think you will procure this GREAT Nation via a velvet revolution… you have got anothing thing coming! The American people see through this charleton of Barack the socialist…! He will be defeated and soon after that happens… there will be a major house cleaning of these quazi-communists! The USA has fought wars against this disgusting ideal of communism…and will continue to do so in the future I quite certain!
So, if you don’t like being refered to as a socialist… then STOP supporting one! Barack has a more left wing voting record then the ONLY admitted socialist in the Senate! Did you know that? I bet you did not…! Look it up son!

To all you left wing freaks out there… remember the tears of shock you had when Tipper and her girlfriend Al were defeated in the final run up to the White House… well, expect to relive that moment! Barack, the socialist, will be defeated in the same fashion that Al “I invented the internet” Gore was!

Famuan: Look up Socialist… then look up Obama’s economic, social, and fundamental plans for “if” he becomes POTUS… His hyper progressive tax plan is enough to consider him a socialist! That is the “nice” word for communist kid!
Then, look up his “neighbors” like Bill Ayers, an admitted “small c communist…” Whatever the hell that is!? And Frank Marshall, whom Obama looked up to and took guidence from as a youth! He was a mamber of the American Communist Party!
It must hurt you liberals when your brain bounces around and hits the sides like that…!

Joe was looking for another JOB!!!!!
Posted by: sisterdearest09 | October 30, 2008, 8:09 pm 8:09 pm
LEAVE JOE ALONE!!!
I love him.
He might not have a license now, but he will.
He’s was going to own his own business some day.
PLEASE. LEAVE HIM ALONE.
Obama approached him. Joe just asked a dumb question. We all make mistakes. He had to endorse somebody to get his back taxes paid and have money to really get a license.
LEAVE HIM ALONE

Joe didn’t pay his taxes and didn’t show up for a campaign rally???
That’s it…I’m voting for Obama.
Obama/Biden/ACORN ’08!
“Vote early, Vote often.”

Your title is misleading. It was a simple mistake, yet your title reveals your slant. When McCain wins on Tuesday you will find that many of your viewers and listeners only will trust FOX. You guys have been pathetic.
DO YOU FEEL IT SLIPPING AWAY?
OF COURSE YOU DO.
How sad to exclusively back the wrong horse.
