Stephanopoulos: McCain’s Seven Must-Win Battleground States

ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos reports: Republican presidential candidate John McCain had his best debate against Democrat Barack Obama last night, but it wasn’t enough to change the trajectory of the race.

Even though McCain followed the advice of those who were saying ‘take the gloves off’ he really didn’t land a knockout blow on Obama. And Obama appeared very calm throughout all the attacks and was able to explain his positions throughout the debate.

McCain’s big problem now is that there are only 19 days left in the 2008 presidential campaign and he doesn’t have any more huge events where he can capture the attention of the nation like you do in a debate.

But there are two things to watch in the final days of the campaign: money and the electoral map.

Money: Obama has a huge fundraising advantage going into the final two-and-a-half weeks. He is out spending McCain on television advertising 2 to 1, and sometimes 3 to 1 or 4 to 1 in some of the key battleground states.

Battleground States: Looking at the electoral landscape, there are seven must win states for McCain, including Ohio, Florida, Missouri, Colorado, Nevada, Virginia, and North Carolina.

Given the way the electoral map is right now, McCain has to win every single one of those states to eek out a narrow electoral college victory, unless there’s a massive shift in the race.

Right now Obama is ahead or at the least tied in every single one of McCain’s seven must-win states. If the election were held today, Obama would win 300 electoral votes — a presidential candidate needs to win 270 to take the White House.

Dear Chris,
I would like to enhance the emphasis on economic aspects of electronic commerce.
As such I would like to encourage an annual special issue of the ECR Journal devoted to the economic aspects of electronic commerce.
Will you agree to handle such a special issue, or if you can’t do it, identify someone who can do a good job at it, is able to attract 8-10 good papers, has a good judgment as to what good research is, is responsible.
He will have to handle the special issue on his own adhering to the high standards of the Journal.
I will appreciate your help in the above matter.
With best regards,
Bezalel

Gov. Sarah Palin met with a group of Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton’s former supporters Tuesday evening at a special fund-raising reception organized for them on behalf of the Republican ticket.
The reception, which organizers said brought in more than $500,000, was part of an extended evening of fund-raising for Ms. Palin and Senator John McCain’s presidential campaign at the Grand Hyatt in New York that officials estimated raised more than $8 million.
Ms. Palin, along with her husband, Todd, mingled and posed for pictures with the group of about 20, before appearing at the larger finance event, which McCain campaign officials said was the last time Mr. McCain would personally appear at a fund-raiser before the election. It was also the first time the pair had appeared together for donors.
More than 1,000 people paid $1,000 each for tickets to the main fund-raiser. Nearly 250 people who contributed $25,000 got dinner beforehand with Mr. McCain.
The reception for former Clinton supporters, which also was attended by Rick Davis, the McCain campaign manager, was spearheaded by Lady Lynn Forester de Rothschild, a former telecommunications entrepreneur and “Hillraiser” who brought in more than $100,000 for Mrs. Clinton’s campaign; Calvin Fayard, also a former Hillraiser and longtime Democratic donor from Louisiana, and Miguel Lausell, a former senior political adviser to the Clinton campaign from Puerto Rico.
Other prominent former Clinton supporters in attendance included John Coale, a former Hillraiser, Washington lawyer and husband of Fox News television host Greta Van Susteren.
Everyone at the reception contributed $28,500 to McCain-Palin Victory 2008, a joint fund-raising committee for the Republican National Committee and several state Republican parties.

Oboma toasted McLame at the debate. McLame looked desperate and silly. Rolling his eyes like some grade school boy and sniping Obama over Ayers hasnt worked for him so far, I dont know why he thought it would in the debate. His heavy sighs were maybe an indication of his failing health, scary stuff considering Caribou Barbie is his backup. Obama looked presidential and McLame looked old, worn out, and mean. A mean old man.

I was shocked that McCain didn’t defend his running mate more when given the opportunity.
PLus I notice one BIG gaff by McCain. He continually referred to Palins knowledge of Autism. Her new son is Down Syndrome not Autistic, two totally different dieases. I thought he would catch himself but he didn’t. I think that showed lack of focus on what he was really saying.

McCain will allow servicemen/women to go right into the field of education after their military service? Is this for real? No certification? What? Is he nuts? We have enough problems with less than stellar teachers who HAVE certification. Maybe McCain thinks THAT’s the problem – too many educated teachers. I’m beginning to think he really IS too old. Or else, he’s just plain stupid.

Without some truly dramatic game changer, McCain simply cannot win all seven battleground states. Colorado and Virginia are pretty clearly going for Obama. There’s not much that McCain or Palin themselves can do at this point to reverse the trending toward Obama. They would need help from outside, such as a startling uptick in the economy (pretty nigh impossible) or a terrorist attack that would stampede frightened voters in their direction.
Stick in a fork, he’s done.

Obama is like the people’s champ aka the people’s President. He represents so much of America that some people can’t stand it. The bombing of Obama’s character which most Americans think is pretty good, is only bombing one person’s campaign= John McCains. He’s losing bad and he can’t seem to find a way to fix it. Maybe he should stop attacking the man’s character and start telling us how he’s really the people’s President, which he isn’t. The way McCain avoids questions about his plans for the future lets us know he’s not country first, he’s ME FIRST!

Posted by: VA is blue | October 16, 2008, 8:53 am 8:53 am

But honestly the best and most truthful thing that I’ve heard about this election is this
“John McCain looks as if he’s about to drop dead any day. Do we really want watching Russia from Alaska {a island in the state she governs and she’s never been there}, abuse of power to fire whomever her husband is mad at, irresponsibility as a parent by not teaching her daughter to use birth control, making the little boy skip school only to work in an oil field, on and on and on. Who needs this dyfunction in Washington and what does it really say about John McCain & his lack of judgment. The only people who like Sarah Palin is the conservatives (and not even all of them like her) who are blind to the fact she knows nothing. Simply she knows nothing. Alaska actually should feel ashamed letting a woman like this run their state. Glad we have Tim Kaine working for VA!!

Wake up and smell the defeat! It is OVER for your candidate. People don’t want to hear anymore hate mongering and negative attacks. They are too worried about how to put food on the table, put gas in their cars and keep a roof over their heads. So come out of the fog and face reality with grace and humility instead of bitterness…Obama is WINNING…most Americans, at least those looking out for their own best interest, want change which means anything other than a condescending, disrespectful, erratic and angry man.

As a independent I chose the person that best shares my ideas. I have been on the fence leaning towards both canidates at certain times. Last nights debate really helped me come closer to making a decision. The Joe the plumber story really hit hime for me. I consider my family buisness to be small.
So when senator Obama sad he would not
raise income tax on anybody making less
then 250K a year I thought great thats
not me. Wrong!! Our small famly buisness is heating & air. We employee
anywhere from 9-18 employees. We have a net income of over 250k per year. Thats
not to say I see that much on my W-2. I
see less than 100k. I am supporting a family of 5. My in laws who co-own this buisness see less than 150K. Are we really considered the top 5%? I don’t think so! I do not get regular vacations or huge bonuses! I consider my buisness to be a small mom and pop buiness. If Obama is elected and our taxes go up how will I be able survive. WWhy should I have to spread the wealth. How dare Obama consider my buisness large! I do not make the millions like large corps. such as the ones we recently bailed out. Small buisnesses are the backbone of our country. I agree the past 8 years are not what I would have liked either. But twe must look at this tax plan and relize it effects more than just the rich.

Grettings fellow Virginian!
Tell me that Obama wasn’t dying when he was asked about the credibility of Pubs’ VP choice.
You could actually see him thinking, “You’ve got to be kidding right?”
I was disappointed he didn’t lay it out there. But then again, he probably did the smart thing. Polls now show over 60% of Americans feel she is unqualified. So why bait the issue?
That’s why Obama is going to be President. Brilliant man with a brilliant campaign!
Come on now, you can say it:
PRESIDENT BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA!
Might as well get used to it.

McCain reached out to a fast-growing contituency. More and more children are being diagnosed with autism. That Sarah Palin has a child with Downs Syndrome speaks to all parents of special needs children. Also, the McCain’s adopted a daughter who had a physical handicap and spents tens of thousands of dollars to correct her disability shows that they have real compassion. Contrast this with Obama who referred to special-needs children as a “burden” in a speech pushing for more abortion.

I think Sen. McCain scored some legitimate hits. Even I was interested in how Sen. Obama responded to some of them and I know both of these campaigns’ talking points and policy positions inside and out. But whatever McCain gained by being constantly on the offensive was offset not only by Obama’s competent and Presidential responses, but even more so by his consistent and unpaletable disdain for his opponent and his condescension toward Americans in my opinion.
He basically invited us to go live in Canada or the UK if we disagree with him on healthcare. Thanks for the banishment there, John.
He said he was “proud of” Gov. Palin as if he were a Dad patting her on the head for gettin an “A”. Whatever I achieve in this world, my Dad doesn’t take me seriously and never will because he is an old-school man who considers women’s achievements “charming anomalies”. I have never been convinced of the sincerity of McCain’s respect for Palin. He and his campaign insulate her, are condescending to her, and then trot her out to perform like a side show attraction. I don’t think she’s VP material (much less presidential) but she deserves better than she gets from her own running mate and his campaign. She clearly doesn’t need him defending her honor like he tends to do. She’s a grown up for heaven’s sake, and a professional politician who chose to put herself in this position and has shown she is capable of taking hits and swinging back. If he wanted to show his support for Gov. Palin, about six less agitated and desperate sounding “I’m proud of her” comments would have helped his case.
I’m going to go ahead and give McCain the benefit of the doubt on the autism/down syndrome confusion. Autism is indeed a growing problem and should be a priority, but I assume he was stating that as a mother of a “special needs” child, Palin has a natural empathy for parents of other special needs children whatever their needs may be. He didn’t state it very well, though. I would also venture to say that having an infant with Down Syndrome certainly has palin thinking about the future of her child and may give her empathy, but she really has very little idea what she is in for (both joyful and painful) just yet. I wish her and her family well.
Distilling a man with legitimate concerns about his financial future, his business, and how the economic policies of the next President will effect his life as a whole down to “Joe the Plumber” is disrespectful. It wasn’t cute to call him “Joe the Plumber” any more than it would be cute to call so called “average” Americans “Joe Sixpack”. Joe is a plumber and he may even like beer, but he is a complex individual who is not defined by his career or his hypothetical beverage of choice. It would be the same as calling “Barack the Black Guy” or “McCain the Old Guy” as if that is all there is. Joe is, naturally, a McCain supporter or McCain wouldn’t have brought him up again and again. I’ll be interested to hear from Joe in four years, whatever the election brings.
And finally, if you are going to claim that an official agrees with your voucher plan, you might want to verify that in advance. Chancellor Michelle Rhee at one point expressed a preference for John McCain as a candidate and may still, but she has not yet taken any public stance at all on vouchers (though she is a supporter of Charter schools as Obama indicated). We’ll see if she backs McCain up on that voucher thing.

I LOVE the conservative attacks on the polls.
I have yet to see anyone claiming the polls are “paid for” by Obama provide any evidence to support this conclusion. To the contrary, I refer you to both Zogby and Fox/Rasmussen. Both are weighted to the right, based on the greater likelihood of republicans actually voting, and both show an Obama lead. Arguing about “paid for” polls is silly.
If McCain is going to win, then STOP arguing with the polls and get out and get HIS supporters out-just like Obama is doing.

The only thing I learned from last night’s debate is that I went into the wrong line of work. If plumbers net more than $250k a year, I want to be one. I’m a CPA and Obama’s tax plan will mean a tax cut for me.

Posted by: JustJanet | October 16, 2008, 10:33 am 10:33 am

AC How in the hell can you run a business that nets over $250,000 if you can’t understand some simple basics about the tax law. Of course, it depends on the form of the ownership of the business, each of the ‘owners’ would be taxed on what they take out. Even if you are a corporation, your salary would be tax deductible to the corporation.
Get a grip AC — Vote for McCain and watch your ‘taxes’ soar with more “Borrow and Spend” polices favored by McCain. How much ‘tax’ have you paid in the form of increased gasoline taxes as a result of the Iraq war? How much ‘tax’ are you going to pay as a result of lax regulation. No matter what McCain says, he is free market and very limited regulation. Do you need more than the last week or two to see where that takes you.
I hope for your sake McCain doesn’t win — be careful what you wish for.

I actually disagree with Stephanopoulis who I like to agree with. I don’t think McCain had any zingers. The Bush comparison is too married to dispute. I thought Mr. McCain was actually difficult to watch but that may be a more male/female perspective in general. The news investigators should check into the legitimacy of the voting machine computer programming. The Bradley Effect articles … are they setting the public up for skewed votes by the machines flopping the results. I only say this because of courtroom testimony by a computer programmer from the last election asked to rig the programs and conceal the evidence. Apparently it’s npt surprisingly easy to do. How is this monitored?

Mr. McCains health plan should have a soap opera tiltle; For the Young and Healthy. It promotes more medical institutions bilking the insurance companies while insurance companies milk the public of their earnings, savings and retirement. Promotes and tempts more corruption and chrony-ism.

Posted by: janefreedom | October 16, 2008, 11:07 am 11:07 am

I admired McCain when he said “all the line of McCains have served this country during war and peace”. He deserves the oval office than Obama, whose father didn’t even serve this country and didn’t even pay tax for this country. Instead took all the best of this coutry (education at University of Hawaii and Harvard and two white American women). He dumped them like trash without child support, that’s why Obama’s mother had to depend of food stamps. I personally like Obama, who is smrat, polish and Harvard graduate. But those facts won’t make a good president (eg. Bush went to Harvard as well). Obama is more show off person than real person. Do we really know him well?
I don’t know why African-American are so crazy about him. Obama’s father was Kenya African, who didn’t suffer the same the segregation and discrimination that we, African American in the US had suffered. His father wasn’t even in the civil rights movements. Most African -American like myself belive that he came this high because he had a White mother. He’s in love with him so much, that was why he wrote two books in his first term senate. What are his experince? He spent most of his time writing his books, book signing tours and campaign. He wants to be popular and gets attention, but I don’t think he’s qualified to be the President. I know his best intention for this country but I doubt he loves this country as much as McCain does.
I’m sure 98% of blacks will vote for Obama and can that be called racist? If Whites are voting for McCain, they’ll be called racists. I’m a black man but I will vote for McCain for I believe he’s real person.

George needs to learn to count. The states he lists were all won by Bush in 2004. But without Iowa, New Mexico and Colorado (which Bush also won) the electoral college for Obama will mirror that of George Bush’s win. So add those to the must win category because McCain isn’t seriously competing in any of the states Kerry won to make up for those. P.S. Obama is solid in Iowa and New Mexico according to http://www.realclearpolitics.com and leading in Colorado. The cliff for McCain is very steep.

Let’s not repeat the lessons of the 1990′s, when Dole and his Republican colleagues did everything they could to obstruct Clinton’s presidency, and then ran on a pledge to “stop the gridlock in Congress” You know, the gridlock that they worked full-time to achieve.

Tell me, they both are going to lower the cost of medical care for you and me? Who then is going to pay for it? Will Abbot Lab’s and Baxter start distributing there products for free? I think not. There are no free rides….SOMEONE has to pay and it wont be the rich. Fact is there are not enough people making over $250k a year to pay for trillions of new spending. They only way this works as if they increase the tax on the middle tax. Oh and by the way….if you tax big business as they both suggest they either pass that expense on to us or lay off more people to maintain there PBIT! Either why we pay. So understand all of there promises should be viewed as WE PAY!

Joe IS NOT REGISTERED TO VOTE:
Here’s the REAL Joe:
Joe the Plumber:
Turns out that Joe Wurzelbacher from the Toledo event is a close relative of Robert Wurzelbacher of Milford, Ohio. Who’s Robert Wurzelbacher? Only Charles Keating”s son-in-law and the former senior vice president of American Continental, the parent company of the infamous Lincoln Savings and Loan. The now retired elder Wurzelbacher is also a major contributor to Republican causes giving well over $10,000 in the last few years.
What a “coincidence”!
http://www.eisenstadtgroup.com/2008/10/15/joe-the-plumber-wurzelbacher-related-to-charles-keating-oop
And then there is this….Moreover, for someone worried about his taxes, Wurzelbacher doesn’t — it appears – always pay them. A filing with the Lucas County Court of Common Pleas shows that he has had state tax liens filed against him, meaning he was either delinquent or didn’t fully cover taxes that he owed.
A representative at the court explained that Wurzelbacher had not paid $1,182.98 of personal income tax. The state filed a lien on January 26, 2007, and the payment remains outstanding.

Maybe its time for alot of new faces in government. Who cares if they are democrat or republican as long as they work for the people. Is there anyone else besides me that is sick and tired of the division? the scandels? the BAIL OUTS? the promises that are never kept. We all seem to vote for the person who’s telling us the lies we like! When does the governement get held responsible? My checkbook only has so many dollars in to yet the governement’s doesnt! When do we start living within our means? …or is it just what is Macain/Obama gonna give me? I truely beleive that not matter which one wins we are screwed!

American Vet as one of the ladies who waited, prayed and did what ever we could to support our men that is what I did. Kept the family at home and prayed for the return of those who were not home safe with us. Does that make my decision to vote for someone you seem not to approve of any less important? My question was about the contributions to Obama that were made at the big dinner in Hollywood a few weeks ago since everyone was ragging on McCain for the dinner given for him. By the way vet I have been around since WWII.

Change….theres a great concept…they both preach change but give very little insight into the change they will make. We all assume change for the better…but will it be! Being the son of Bob I have learned that ifis sounds too good and costs too little its probabaly a Lie. Can anyone name a governement program that actually fixed something? Welfare, medicare, no child left behind, social security….with the exception of the Military all of these governement programs are a disaster….now we are going to add health care to the list? Didnt Canada, Findland, Demark…most of europe try this….and failed? What makes us think that we can do it better than them…given our track record?

Lee,
That is just it. The only thing you did was waited, prayed and did what ever you could to SUPPORT our men and (women). You did not face the dirt, heat, bullets, blood and guts that are part of war. You have no idea about the suffering of our wounded American Troops. You have no idea about the pain service men and women go through in war and you can not say I have an idea because you have not and never will serve you country on the battlefield.
YES, it does make your decision to vote for someone I seem not to approve of less important? But, I fought for your right to vote for whomever you wish…I just hoped you would be as diligent with that right as I was in preserving your right to vote.

Does it bother any of the Obama supporters how every time he is associated with a person of questionable nature, Obama immediately downplays the relationship and then we find out later that there is more to it than he first admitted? Does it bother any of you how much he has changed his views in such a short time? Does it bother any of you that he didn’t want MI and FL to count when it could have affected his nomination, but now he wants them to count? Does it bother any of you that he was in favor of campaign public finance until he realized he was going to raise and spend more money than any other candidate ever? Does it bother any of you that he referred to women he didn’t know as “sweetie”? Does it bother any of you that he says one thing to one group of people and says something to another group? Does it bother any of you that he is always talking about how bad America is, and then in the same conversation says we’re all great? I just don’t get the blind faith.

All,
I was born in a Cuba, Unless you lived under a Socialist state, you’ll never understand how good we have it in the USA.. Let’s have faith in our great country. Things will get better. We can not afford to go backwards. We must have less taxes and more money in our pockets in order to spend. Spending will stimulate the economy.

“Joe the plumber: here you have one guy hoping to get rich vs. thousands struggling to put food on the table. How many of those thousands would Joe employ?”
The question to ask is how much money the government will hand out to support those that don’t have jobs by a large number of ‘Joe the Plumbers” out there. Which do you beleive is more efficient – money going directly to a worker or money going through the government and then through many distribution programs? The former.
It should be very apparent that the Obama plan will lower taxes on those that have jobs, but has a better chance to stagnate the economy, slow the recovery and increase unemployment.
There are a lot of things I dislike about the Rebublican ticket, but if your hotbutton is the economy, not sure how you can support rasising taxes on the folks that employee the people and those that funnel money back into the ecnonomy.

Lee,
You just don’t get it!! There is different between hearing bullets fly by your head than being a cheerleader on the sidelines with pom poms.
Please don’t feel sorry to inform me of other people service. I am proud other people love this country enough to give up their lives.
I am 4th generation military, I have four veteran siblings, and my wife is a veteran Marine, I have numerous cousins, nephews, friends and a daughter on active duty serving around the world today.
Please don’t attempt to change the focus. That is why the USA is in this economic crisis. If you wanted an answer to the Obama’s Dinner question then why add all the negative stuff about military service? You want “someone in office who fought and was willing to give his life for this country; Obama feeling entitled (How do you know that?); as far as I can see this country has done a heck of a lot more for him and his wife.”
It is obvious that the amount for the dinner was not important to you. Based on your own words, your purpose was to express negative comments about Senator Obama cloaked in patriotism.
Know when to cut your losses.

If you think you will make me apologize for my opinion of Obama forget it. He is a poor choice and I would never vote for him. It’s so nice to see all of the McShame/Bush lovers squeal and cry. They all know that they have lost the hearts and minds of the American people, and now they can only resort to name calling. They make things up, they continue their fear mongering, but it isn’t working. The American people are not buying it anymore.
The fading fast republicans have even brought back “tax and spend liberal” and “Big government” lines, but we aren’t buying it. Unfortunately for the repubs, we have been able to witness first hand what they will do, and it isn’t good.

At this point McCain’s only campaign strategy is linking Ayers to Obama. Is he serious? Its as if he has totally given up convincing the American people that he has any idea or plan for this country. It is so sad and dissapointing.

Posted by: Independent realist | October 16, 2008, 6:14 pm 6:14 pm

All hat, and no cowboy!

Posted by: Independent realist | October 16, 2008, 6:17 pm 6:17 pm

Supporters of McCain always say that Obama is a socialist. We are ALL SOCIALIST now thanks to the $700 Rescue Plan (Wall Street Bailout). Socialism involves a shared risk. Even though very few people were sharing in the rewards of giving risky loans at high interest rates, we all share the risk of propping up the economy. John McCain squandered a lot of time focusing on topics that Americans do not care about: Celebrity Obama; Shifty Obama; Ayers Obama; Acorn Obama; Lipstick Obama; Unexperienced Obama. Now, he wants a start over, do over in this election…he calls it coming back from the “political dead”. I call it “oops I did it again!!” How many of us get to start over and get to do things over? If Obama is so inexperienced, then why has he managed to stay on message and keep his campaign running like a fine tuned machine, even with all the negativity the McCain camp and the Republicans have thrown at him? ;-)

It was kind of strange, dintcha think, that John McCain came to the defense of his supporters last night after Barack Obama pointed out that people at McCain/Palin rallies were shouting out “terrorist” and “kill him!” in reference to Obama.
Now an Al Jazeera camera crew caught the honest sentiments of McCain/Palin supporters at an Ohio rally:
“I’m afraid if he wins, the blacks will take over. He’s not a Christian! This is a Christian nation! What is our country gonna end up like?”
Sounds like the fundamental belief of the Republicans on this blog. At least these people admitted they were racist and did not try to hide the fact behind rhetoric.

Ohio is already lost thanks to Jennifer Brunner – the Ohio version of Florida’s Katherine Harris. ACORN has caused massive fraud and people are letting them get away with it. The people in this country have become complacent- giving up hope and letting their rights be trampled upon. The Democrats have caused most of this financial nightmare but Obama has turned it around to his advantage -as usual- Teflon Barry – complete with Web-based phony birth certificate and Pro-Palestinian plans to dminish support for Israel- the list is endless. McCain needs to get tough and tell the American public that he will go after and prosecute those responsible for this mess- the Democrats certainly wont do anything to people like Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, Fannie and Freddie !!!! Many people are mesmerized by Obama but that will wear off quick enough when he shows his real colors and intentions as he enters the White House. Then it will be too late for all of us including the media who will eventually turn on him after having this grand love affair with him for 18 months now !!!

Posted by: jimbo | October 17, 2008, 8:37 am 8:37 am

Saying that McCain and Obama are the same is like saying night and day are the same. If Obama had been in the same situation as McCain when he was a POW, he would have sold himself out quicker than a Fannie Mae bailout. Obama would have turned on his country so quick his head would have been spinning. Obama is just another in the long line of members of the leftist illuminati.

Concerned American: Am I correct in stating that Barbara Streisand had a fundraiser for Obama in California and the plate was $28,500 and Oprah had one too. The rich making Obama richer. That’s why he gave $880,000 to Acorn where he was on the board with bomber Ayers that he claimed he didn’t know that well. Give me a break. Why do you think Joe the plumber told the news media he didn’t like Obama’s associates or spreading the wealth around. He praised McCain as a true American hero. I can imagine who he is voting for and he will be on Huckabee’s show. This could be a good shot for the McCain campaign if Joe explains Obama’s money making policies.

Wow, we really have some hateful people out there. Facts–Obama is a head in the polls. Could this change? Very unlikely. McCain is an old angry man and Palin is a hateful cold cold woman. Her child has down syndrome and that is all– otherwise it would have been played up in the press. Both campaigns have run some negative ads but McCains ads have by far been more negative. Palin is pushing hate. A lot of republicans here in Texas are saying “Even if Obama gets in office– someone is going to shoot him” They even agree that Palin is pushing for someone to kill him. Then they laugh. Wow, when did politics get this far?

Why I am voting Democrat!
I’m voting Democrat because I believe the government will do a better job of spending MY MONEY than I would. I think when you spread the wealth around it is good for everybody! It’s Patriotic!
I’m voting Democrat because I believe that business should not be allowed to make profits for themselves. All profits are evil and should be confiscated for Government Redistribution.
I’m voting Democrat because I believe that MORE Government regulations and higher taxes on Business will stop Business from exporting their jobs to Countries with LESS Government regulations and lower taxes.
I’m voting Democrat because I believe terrorists should be allowed to have trials in American courts. And be able to subpoena top secret documents, soldiers, government officials, etc. to cross examine for their defense. They should have ACLU lawyers who can help intimidate Americans who serve on the juries!
I’m voting Democrat because I believe in a FREE government health care system. I believe doctors, nurses, hospitals, drug companies, etc. will gladly donate their time, products, services, facilities, etc. for FREE and that will be a better system.
I’m voting Democrat because I believe in and support trial lawyers, frivolous lawsuits and outrageous jury verdicts.
I’m voting Democrat because I believe 9/11 was an inside job to con the American people to go to war for oil.
I’m voting Democrat because I believe social security is solvent and that there is a social security lock box and I don’t believe social security is a Ponzi scheme.
I’m voting Democrat because I believe Gay Marriage should be the law of the land and will probably produce better children.
I’m voting Democrat because I believe English should not be the official language of the United States. I don’t mind pushing one for English when I use the phone.
I’m voting Democrat because I believe partial birth abortion is okay but water boarding a terrorist is disgusting.
I’m voting Democrat because I believe having a domestic terrorist like Bill Ayers as a close friend is a good thing. It allows for great relations with foreign terrorists.
I’m voting Democrat because I believe MOST AMERICANS are bitter and cling to their guns and religion. Let’s rid our country of guns and religion!
I’m voting Democrat because I believe illegal aliens deserve all the rights of ordinary Americans plus some additional rights Americans do not have.
I’m voting Democrat because I believe groups like ACORN who register felons, drug addicts, wino’s, homeless drifters, illegal aliens, dead people, children, fictional Disney characters, etc. makes my vote count more.
I’m voting Democrat because I believe celebrating the winter solstice shows compassion for the small minority of people that do not celebrate Christmas.
I’m voting Democrat because I believe hard core criminal murders and rapists deserve life and that the innocent unborn deserve death. It’s a choice I can live with.
I’m voting Democrat because I believe Bush caused Hurricane Katrina and he blew-up the levies in the ninth ward of New Orleans.
I’m voting Democrat because I believe our soldiers are AIR RAIDING villages and killing innocent people.
I’m voting Democrat because I believe sex in the Oval Office with an intern is a private matter and that everybody lies under oath about sex.
I’m votin Demokrat becuse I wus edumkated at a publick sckrool.
I’m voting Democrat because I believe that any one who is not partaking in one of the many wonderful government programs obviously has too much money and should pay higher taxes.
I’m voting Democrat because when we pull out of Iraq the terrorists will be happy and now think of us as good people.
I’m voting Democrat because freedom of speech is fine as long as it does not offend people. Can’t we all just get along?
I’m voting Democrat because I believe oil companies’ profits are wrong. I believe higher taxes on oil companies will produce lower prices at the pump.
I’m voting Democrat because I believe we need to rid ourselves of dependency on foreign oil, BUT I AM AGAINST offshore drilling for oil and natural gas, drilling in Anwar, building nuclear power plants and clean coal technology.
And finally, I’m voting Democrat because I believe Reverend Wright when he said “GODDAMN AMERICA” and “OUR CHICKENS ARE COMING HOME TO ROOST”. Hey let’s make a comfortable nest for those chickens!
Why are you voting Democrat?

Every time a veteran says something along the lines of “Be thankful I gave you the right to protest”, they seem to forget to practice what they preach. Every veteran should be grateful not only to other veterans who fought before them, but to doctors, firefighters, police officers, teachers, mothers, and every other member of society that contributed toward their ability to stay alive, become educated, train to do what they felt was their calling, and speak their mind. Veterans do not have a monopoly on the rights of Americans, and they are not the only ones who have gone so far as to die (or be killed) for those rights. We all depend on each other, let’s not make it a competition or “bragging rights”.

Why should the hard workers of this country have to share their income with those who do not want to work hard. If there is a will, there is a way. Many of these so-called “middle class” folks just want a hand-out. I, for one, do not want to hand over anything. Large families need the money to survive in this already overtaxed nation. Maybe Obama and the Dems should spread the wealth of their campaign contributions. Where did all that money come from?
