The Eyes Have It
The Virginia Republican Party — chaired by the same man who recently said of Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., and Osama bin Laden, "Both have friends that bombed the Pentagon. That is scary" – has sent out a mailer that seems to take that comparison a step further.
"In today’s dangerous world, appeasement is not a foreign policy," says the front of the mailer.
Inside: pictures of Iran’s Mahmoud Ahmadinijad, North Korea’s Kim Jong-Il, Russia’s Vladimir Putin, and Venezuela’s Hugo Chavez, with the text: "America must face the threat of terror head-on."
On the back of the envelope is a close-up of someone’s eyes and the caption: "America must look evil in the eye and never flinch."
At first blush, the eyes might look to you like Obama’s. But as the liberal website BradBlog points out, the person’s skin has been darkened. The eyes are actually Osama bin Laden’s.
Check it out for yourself HERE.

It’s typical Republican fear-mongering.
If we don’t throw these bums out now, then America is hopeless.

Republicans are the bottom scum of the Earth. Not all off course. There’s plenty of good ones. But the modern day Republican party is no different than the KKK (well, actually, one difference, they don’t wear white sheets).

What do you mean ‘what do I think of this’? I think only what you tell me to think. If you think this is normal or okay or ‘just politics’ or ‘both sides are doing it’ or ‘I work for ABC and they told me to hype everything I write’ then I’m with you 100%.
There is no journalism anymore, so why pretend? Just tell us what we’re supposed to think, and if we have enough time to listen to you we’ll adopt your point of view. No sense wasting precious brain power, right?

And your point is???? You mistook someone else’s eye’s for Obama’s and believe the word of a Liberal blogger about darkened skin? This is journalism Jake?

I would not have considered the eyes to be Obama because the width of the face is too wide and the bridge of the nose is not high enough. The eyes themselves may also be set a little closer.
It’s a cheap, sleazy bit of work, regardless because some will assume otherwise.

In the name of decency, what is happening in America?
this is scary stuff, no two ways about it.
i don’t believe john mccain would stand for this kind of, support? is this support of mccain?
i will just have to adopt the attitude, of-and even though, the issues of race are not the main issues that we need to deal with in picking our president.
i will not fool myself into thinking
electing a black man in america president would be easy.
the kooks have been just under the surface all along. I am just sorry now, all of this unpatriotic activity will be associated with john mccain, who has suffered for this country. and i don’t believe he suffered what he did, to have these people think they could take over.
god-fearing people get out and vote, if you have voted already, as i have, go to the poll anyway, and be a watcher for any unsavory things.
i ask all of my white brothers and sisters one you vote in your neighborhoods, go to a black neighborhood and vol. to help be a watchers there, carry video camera, and talk to the people, especially the elderly, (this goes for elderly black and white) and ask if you can video their answer, ask them if they had problems pushing buttons, or pulling levers, or if they voted for one candidate and the opponents name popped, or lit up.
this IS the most important election of our present time. friends we do not want to be recorded on the wrong side of history on this one.
vote, help someone vote, carry people to the polls, if you have never talked to your neighbors before, let this be the first time you talk to them and ask them if they need help to the polls,
vote, vote, vote.
100+ in missouri at obama rally, the good people of american are crying out for right to be done.
the world is watching and holding its breath hoping we get it right.
lets get it right this time.

Why is anyone surprised? McCain and the Republicans have made it quite clear that they will do anything to win.
Trash their opponent and I’m not talking about criticism. If they want to criticize Obama’s stands on the issues, fine. If they want to criticize his associations, fine. But when they refer to him as palling around with terrorists, or paste his picture on a food stamp surrounded by watermelon, fried chicken and ribs, that is over the top. And what about McCain’s presidential transition leader who was a lobbyinst for Saddam Hussein? Both sides have exaggerated the other’s positions and perhaps that goes with the territory but the McCain campaign seems to be sinking more and more into the slime

The McCain camp is so far out of touch with what is going on around them that they have forgotten what era we are now in,they are completely I mean totally nutty They are the leftovers from a time when they could say ignorant things and get away with it do evil things and get away with it but those times have long passed their is few people that don’t want to hear or look at their messages of hate they are really showing how pejudiced some of them really are. These are mean spirited people and to think that some are public servants that we pay taxes to support their hatred. The robocalls are pretty stupid and cowardly.

take heart patriots:
I did in this little story
I am african american, i was in a barnes and noble bookstore recently, sitting there minding my own business,
a warren buffett looking white man was sitting just across the way from me.
he was reading the newspaper.
he fussed at something he was reading and then took his paper down and looked at me and said “i don’t know why they think they can get aways with this”
i just smiled. and he started the conversation. he asked me do you invest in the market, or any thing like that?
i said yes, he said well get ready to put money in concrete, etc.
i said why? he said because obama is going to win in a landslide, I perked up then, because, i was a hillary supporter, a hillary supporter still, and voted for obama. and i said ah, i think it is to soon, i would be afraid to say that. he said the news media people have to keep ratings up, so they
keep people like you and me coming back for more, by making it seem to be close.
he said i have been an investor all my life, that is how i make my living now, during his working life he was a pilot for an airline. but now retired and investor. he said concrete, concrete, concrete, obama in a landslide, we will start to rebuild the countries infrastructure.
the movers and shakers in washington, have already be settled on the idea that obama will be the next president.
the media know it to, but they have to keep this dog and pony show up for me and you.
americans please do not be discouraged by this kind of mess, yes it is scary, but take heart.

All of these items should be receiving more mainstream media coverage.
As McCain was laughing it up, paying Obama compliments at the Alfred E Smith dinner event, his campaign was busy “robo-calling” voters in swing-states, and mailing out racist propaganda material.
Posted by: WATCH US EXPLODE | October 18, 2008, 1:58 pm 1:58 pm
Corporate “leftists” including Bill Ayers — Obama’s mentor — brought down the egalitarian social movement of the 1960s, and replaced it with a slew of “non-profit” corporations.
As soon as Bush was installed in office, the 9-11 events — which could hardly have been pulled off without corporate involvement INSIDE the US — shut down all pretense of individual freedom in the US.
Osama bin Laden, for all his corporate power, has fought for his people against the USSR, then against the US. There’s a lot more reason to respect bin Laden than to trust Obama — who’s never fought for ANYthing but to advance himself to the White House.

What do I think of this. I think that these foolish Republicans have forever soiled the Republican brand. Lincoln is probably rolling over in his grave. This isn’t conservatism. This is hate and fear mongering being used for political advantage.
I can’t believe this is 2008? I really can’t. Look at the challenges that we face–this will do nothing but divide us further. You know, I have refrained from attributing to the candidates everything that their supporters and party members have said or done, but the same man that made the Bin Laden-Obama link, is making a joint appearance with John McCain.
Even Harold Ford called out McCain for campaigning for his Republican opponent while he still had the “Call me” ads up.
So what do I think. I think that if this is what the Republican party has to offer, they could NEVER represent me.

Look, the talking points and tactics come from McCain’s campaign and approved by McCain.
What a pity! It is so sad to see McCain, once an honorable man, succumbed to his desire to be President and sold his soul in doing whatever it takes to win including the very things he once loathed. He has lost his way and credibility.
He picked Palin, an unqualified candidate, to appease the Republican base as his running mate. He hired the Bush operatives to run his campaign and employed the same dirty tactics that were used against him in 2000. He is 2 faced in this campaign – a charming one in the public and a dark and dirty one in private. He says one thing in public like running a positive campaign, Barack Obama is a decent man, etc. and does the opposite using Robo calls and negative character attacks that are filled with lies and half truth. Now with this dangerous extreme mailing from his party.
Where is McCain’s honor? What kind of a man he has become?
Just watch, his next tactic will focus on voter suppression in the swing states. McCain may think he can return to his decent self in the future. The sad reality is once anyone goes over to the dark side, it is almost impossible to rid the control of the evil power except through divine intervention.
For those who want to vote for McCain, you may want to pray for his repentance and salvation before it is too late and prepare to accept defeat on Nov. 4…

It is one thing to be negative, but I think this borders on slanderous. This is the one thing McCain said he would never do and now he has gone back on his word. Is he that desperate to get to the WH? I would say so. His running mate is no better. She seems to enjoy inciting the near riots which remind me of the days (I’ve seen on TV) when a certain race of people were told to sit in the back of the bus. We do not need people like this in the WH. The more this cr** comes out, the more I am beginning to believe they are racist!! And, no, I am not black.

I have friends and relatives who are republican. Some of them are so disgusted by these republican tactics they are seeing that they will be staying home Nov. 4.
This is demagoguery run wild. Scare tactics, xenophobia, and slanderous insinuations.
Hey Republicans in Virginia – did you notice in the last debate when Obama was asked if Palin is qualified to be VP all he did was COMPLIMENT her? No attacks, no nastiness. He said she is talented and has excited the Republican base. When McCain was asked a the same question about Biden – his friend – he gave him some praise, then went on to say that he had been wrong repeatedly on foreign policy decisions.
Incidentally, Jake Tapper, I’m still waiting for the posting on here about Palin’s ties to the Alaska Independence Party, or her lying response to the Troopergate investigation results…

it was so strong, and so many people were silenced, until now thats to bush with 90% of support from mccain, we have not killed more people than were killed on 9/111, and we still don’t have bin laden. John mccain said he knows how to get bin laden, well why didn’t he tell bush-no he wants to get into office and get more of our young men and women killed to try and prove he can get bin laden. i say no. this time around, if john mccain knows how to get osama, after the elections, president obama can commission mccain to go to the mountains and bring him out himself. no more american killed for the reps and their ideas of ruling the world, with an iron fist.

Every time I think the Republican Party can’t sink any lower, it does.
I am a former Republican turned independent. Attacks like this one and the robocalls are why I left the GOP. It truly has become the party of hate, fear, and stupidity.
The GOP has given up any pretense of making reasoned arguments in favor of conservative principles. I feel sick when I contemplate what it has become.
It has become the party of government intrusion, erosion of civil liberties, and big spending. It preys on the racism and xenophobia of the uneducated. It has made an idol of anti-intellectualism. It has embraced the authoritarian religious right. It has turned narrow ideas of patriotism into a secular religion and accuses anyone who disagrees with heresy.
This election is an opportunity for Democrats, independents, and Republicans who want their party back to stop this madness. You don’t have to love Obama, but for the sake of our nation, vote against what the GOP has become.

No, what’s scary is that someone who is supposed to be intelligent, can’t tell the differenc between a “friend” and someone you work with. They actually think that the majority of people are going to fall for their scare tactics again. Quite frankly, I find it more comforting that Obama is able to work with people no matter what their past, present or religious beliefs. Isn’t that what a president is supposed to do? Separate his own beliefs from those that he’s required to work with and for.And still maintain a respectable leadership while working with govenments who are potentially hostile. There’s a big difference between working with a washed up terrorist and a country that harbors terrorists. Shouldn’t that be the question. Who is more qualified? Watching the republican circus, no wonder the world has rallied around Obama. He’s the only hope we have of saving face.

I have a very serious question for the McCain supporters. It’s clearly a distinct possibility that Obama is going to win the election and come January he’s going to be YOUR PRESIDENT. How are you going to handle that after some of the personal and mean spirited attacks on him as un-American, or anti-American or terrorist or whatever. You may well have this man as your president and you might want to think about dealing with that, you will support your president won’t you? That is, after all, the patriotic thing to do. So be careful what words you say, you may be eating them soon.
