Perhaps if McCain and the Republican Party had taken things seriously, they would not be in the mess they are in.
Instead of policies they came up with smears, Anti-American, Fear, negativity, and loss of hope.
I am surprised that they have anyone voting for them at all.

Obama had 60% negative ads thru the campaign to McCain’s 71…
The backflip most Obama supporters are using to continue to believe in his “positive” campaign is that he had to be negative in response to negativity…
Ask Clinton if Obama was negative. I am just sick of hearing about how his message is so hopeful, and then have him turn around and tell lies about his opponent. The 100 years in Iraq over and over again, disproved even by factcheck, etc., springs to mind.
If you think McCain has lied too, well, two wrongs don’t make a right, right?
I agree that Obama has run the slicker campaign, of course it’s easy to do so when you are outspending your opponent four to one.
So whatever.

SUPERIOR GROUND GAME with massive amounts of help from the leftwing media, including ABC. This election will finally put an end to the pretense of media claims of disinterested reporting. This is not what the Founding Fathers had in mind with the 1st Amendment protection of the press. Our country is being changed, and not for the better !

Where are the newspaper stories about this bizarre woman in PA that faked an attack on herself and blamed it on a black Obama supporter? This is vile, disgusting race baiting and unbelievably dirty politics. NO, of course I don’t think John McCain put her up to it, but let’s not miss the fact that the communications director of McCain’s PA campaign pushed the story HARD to reporters, when it was thought to be true. In fact, he peddled a more outrageous version of the story, having the assailant actually say, “You’re gonna be for Barack.”
WHERE ARE THE NEWSPAPER REPORTS ON THIS? WHERE IS THE OUTRAGE?
For that matter, I’m still waiting for the newspaper stories and outrage on Palin’s cavalier dismissal of the Troopergate probe. Her saying “I’m happy to have been cleared of all legal and ethical wrongdoing” is an astonishing bit of doublethink. George Orwell himself would be amazed.

ok, i’ll actually answer the question: here in colorado we have caucuses instead of primaries. i went to the local caucus at the nearby high school, expecting to find it fairly small and intimate, with precinct neighbors discussing the candidates. wrong. it was huge, with so many people from so many precincts that they had to break off into gymnasiums, auditoriums, large hallways and other common areas. i had expected to find a balance of voters looking at all the major candidates. again wrong. there were legions of obama supporters there, thanks to the very well organized ground team he has in place here. the vote, when it came time for it, wasn’t even close. obama took the evening, with clinton an extremely poor second, and the other candidates, who were still considered somewhat viable at that point, getting nothing but dregs. i have no doubt whatsoever, that had hillary not conceded the caucus states to obama early on, she would be the nominee today. should mccain be afraid of this organized political machine? you betcha!

HEY JON: We don’t mind the reporting on “Troopergate” as long as it’s accurate. In the meantime, do you suppose that we could get an interview with Bill Ayers ? Can we see Obama’s medical records or his doctoral dissertation ? How come he’s not sending some money to his brother in Kenya who lives on $1 a month ? Thought B.O. wanted to “spread the wealth around”. Is Michelle proud of her country yet ? Loads of good stories out there don’t you think ??

At the debate, Obama was right that McCain’s ads had been almost 100% negative THAT WEEK. However, the week of September 17, Obama was more negative…and in general, both campaigns have had an equal tone…see below.
Here are the real facts about Obama’s pure and unblemished positivity…
Prof. Ken Goldstein, director of the Wisconsin Advertising Project, issued the following statement:
Looking at the tone of all of McCain’s advertising from June 4 to October 4, we found that 47 percent of the McCain spots were negative (completely focused on Obama), 26 percent were positive (completely focusing on his own personal story or on his issues or proposals) and 27 percent were contrast ads (a mix of positive and negative messages).
But what about Obama? Our analysis reveals that 39 percent of all general election Obama ads have been positive (solely about his record, positions or personal story), 35 percent have been negative (solely focused on McCain) and 25 percent have been contrast ads – mixing a bit of both. So, on a proportional basis, the McCain campaign is and has been more negative than Obama.
But, Obama has aired over 50,000 more ads than McCain. So, hasn’t he simply aired more of everything – including negative ads – than McCain has this year, or than anyone in history, as McCain may have alleged?
If one just looks at pure airings of negative ads, McCain has aired more than Obama. If one allocates contrast ads as half positive and half negative or considers contrast ads as negative – as the Advertising Project does – the tone of the McCain and Obama campaigns has been absolutely identical.

Hey fellow McCain supporters there is one bright spot if BO manages to win.
Biden will be a constant embarrassment as VP. We can look forward to many gaffes.
Obama will quickly break his promises and the backlash will be huge.
With BO, Pelosi, Reid, Dodd, and Barney in control even the media will turn on that unpopular bunch of crooks.
Obama can only blame Bush and racism for his mistakes only for a short time before people turn on him.
If we can survive what Obama does to America at least watching the Democrats squirm will be fun.

It is true – in Florida, I get calls from Obama. A friend has gotten 7 calls already – they are asking for our votes. Only have gotten 1 seedy flyer from the RNC attacking Obama, and it scared my 10 year old so I threw it away. Republicans forgot that you have to give people a reason to vote FOR you and not just AGAINST someone else. It’s very bizarre and off-putting all the negative smears, lies, hate speech and the overall campaign of fear.
It’s not a positive optimistic message that is forward-looking about our future. People will typicaly vote their hopes, not their fears. How can my party have forgotten something so basic?
It is sad to see a once great man so diminished in a matter of mere months. Even if he wins, John McCain’s reputation and honor have been incredibly damaged, irretrievably so in my opinion. He would go into the white house carrying the baggage of the most divisive campaign in recent presidential history that has sought to divide the country he seeks to lead into pro-America vs anti-America, real Virginia vs fake Virginia, capitalist vs socialist, christian vs muslim, black vs white, upper class vs midde class, working class against everyone, pro-life vs pro-choice.
If elected, his first speech would have to contain an apology for his campaign (of course, it would somehow blame Obama for not having town hall meetings), and that is not the first thing a new president should have to do. He really should be ashamed, and it is sad that he isn’t.

Then may-be we who live in BLUE LIBERAL DEMOCRATIC Massachsuetts can catch a break from being one of the most liberal states in the country and taking on so much of the burden of providing for the less fortunate. I am all for Social Propgrams for the less fortunate, but I am not for other states sending people to our state to provide for their own citizens. It is a known fact Florida and New York have signs up at their bus stations telling people to move to Mass. for publec housing and benefits. Jake, you want to do some real reporting? Go back and look at the 2002, 2004 and 2006 races. Look for references to the ‘vaunted’ GOP ground game, particularly in reports written by then-WP writer Jim VandeHei.
You’ll find that VandeHei in particular constantly referenced the superiority of the GOP ground game, which suggests a fair question? Where did it go? If it really existed — if they had this amazing ability to turn out votes, what happened to it?
