The Next Vice President Takes in a Game

Both Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and her rival, Sen. Joe Biden, D-Del., took in some games Saturday night.

Palin’s trip was more fraught with risk, as she braved the home of the Philadelphia Flyers to throw down a puck, in a town where sports fans are notorious for even having booed Santa Claus.

On the jumbotron a warning message flashed, admonishing: "Flyers fans, show Philadelphia’s class and welcome America’s #1 hockey mom, Sarah Palin."

Boos and loud chants against Palin were drowned out by some healthy applause and deafening PA music.

Palin was savvy enough to also bring her daughters Willow and Piper, who sported a Flyers jersey,  with her on the ice.

Biden , meanwhile, better hope he has better luck than his favorite college football team, the University of Delaware Fightin’ Blue Hens.

The senator showed some alumni team spirit and attended Saturday’s Blue Hen gridiron duel with the University of Maine Black Bears, only to see his alma mater crash to a 27-10 home defeat.

Accompanied by his wife Jill and school president Patrick Harker and his spouse Emily, Biden took in the action from a box at the 50-yard line at Tubby Raymond field, flashing thumbs up to players, leaning over the box’s protective bar, and standing up for big plays along with the 26,000-strong crowd.

At one point, Biden rose to his feet along when Maine intercepted a Delaware pass, displaying his Blue Hen bravado for the second time this season.

On Sept. 19, upon departing Wilmington for Washington, D.C., the Delaware lawmaker met with the Blue Hen squad at the airport, boasting that he had just been in Ohio where he told voters that the Delaware team would "kick Ohio State’s ass."

"I was out in Ohio," Biden said, holding a football as he addressed the team. "I told folks in Ohio that we’d kick Ohio State’s ass."

Just days before, Biden had concluded a two-day Buckeye State bus tour.

Of course, the Blue Hens promptly lost their game against Furman the next day, 23-21, to fall to 1-2 on the year.

And it didn’t get any better for them on Saturday, as Biden’s boys crashed to their second consecutive defeat following last week’s 17-7 setback at Massachusetts.

Not only might Saturday’s loss sting because the school’s favorite senator was in attendance, but even more so because Delaware succumbed to the Black Bears, who had yet to record a Colonial conference win before tonight.

Now that Maine is off the schnide, Delaware remains one of the league’s only winless teams. Biden will hope he fares better than his alma mater on Election Day in just over three weeks.

I’ve seen the video several times now.
The boos seem quite thunderous.
The polite applause started when she was leaving the ice.

Yeah, right Jake – she got soundly RAZZED the whole time, and they had to crank the PA up. Wasn’t much applause – my friend who was there said that the PA had canned applause recorded along with the music!
Some great photos of the crowd behind her holding up OBAMA signs, too. Let’s face it, sports and politics don’t mix.

I saw a footage of Palin booed. Funny. The music was loud but you could still hear the boos in the very beginning.

I love Joe Biden.
Like Bill Clinton said:
“I love Joe Biden and America will too.”
Unfortunately both McCain and Palin are very weak leaders.

I will happily be casting my vote for Obama/Biden.
I think they are just the team we need.
Palin/McCain would lead us into the dark ages.
And, she was/is clearly an amateur.

Why was bringing two of her daughters to this event a “savvy” thing for Mrs. Palin to do? Did she think it would somehow endear her to the Phillie fans? Guess what, Sarah, it didn’t work.
She is always saying she doesn’t want her children to be part of this campaign, yet she persists in constantly bringing them to her campaign events. Doesn’t make any sense.

I don’t think bringing her kids with her was a good idea. She is using them for props. Fox news even reported that she did this. If she can not be a good mother by keeping them out of the spotlight, how can she be a good VP?

The first mistake was to assume Philadelphia has class. Noone wants to live there much less visit. Come to a Blues game. St. Louis fans have knowledge AND self respect.

I just got back from that game and the booing was not drowned out by cheers. There was a lot of boos. It was kind of sad because of her daughters; Willow looked really uncomfortable.

Barak/Biden will win Nov.4 Election. All National poll saying 52% to 41% .Differece of 11 points ,just 3 weeks before Election day and in all Battleground Sen.Barak/Biden are leading Mccain/Palin. I don’t understand how Maccain can turn it upside down ?? Nothing is Done until everything is Final in Nov.4

I think it is disgusting that she tried to shield herself from boos by using her young child. This from a woman who claims she doesn’t want her children to be a part of the campaign. And I have a question: WHEN do her children ever attend school? What is up with that? They appear to be traveling with her constantly. She and the First Dude are lousy parents.

Jake… can you please do a story on Palin and her ties with the AIP..
Most other papers are writing up stories on it… can you please do a column?
I think its important to let people know who Palin really is, since she and McCain are asking who Obama is..
Plus check out Salon.com, they have a good article about her and the AIP.
MSNBC also has a good story on her abusing more taxpayers money to go to church functions… seems she has billed the taxpayers over 13k for her and her family to attend church functions… its a good read into what type of governor she really is.
Sarah Palin is not fit to be a governor let alone VP… the more we know about her the worse it gets… problem is trying to get the major media to run stories..

If only Biden could get ACORN to count the score and cheat for the Blue Devils and have the “mainstream media” ref their games. Then the Blue Devils would be undefeated and the Blue Devils opponents would be shamed into apologizing for trying too hard to win.
And of course, if the Blue Devils opponent had a white kid tackle one of their players, the mainstream media refs can call a personal foul for racism.

“The camera closes in on Sarah Palin speaking to young missionaries, vowing from the pulpit to do her part to implement God’s will from the governor’s office.
What she didn’t tell worshippers gathered at the Wasilla Assembly of God church in her hometown was that her appearance that day came courtesy of Alaskan taxpayers, who picked up the $639.50 tab for her airplane tickets and per diem fees.
An Associated Press review of the Republican vice presidential candidate’s record as Wasilla mayor and Alaska governor reveals her use of elected office to promote religious causes, sometimes at taxpayer expense and in ways that blur the line between church and state. The U.S. Constitution provides for the separation of church and state.
Since she took state office in late 2006, the governor and her family have spent more than $13,000 in taxpayer funds to attend at least 10 religious events and meetings with Christian pastors, including Franklin Graham, the son of evangelical preacher Billy Graham, records show.”

Yes, she told a questioner that she had been cleared and that she hadn’t done anything unethical and she hadn’t broken any law and told the questioner to read the report and see for yourself.
Even though the report said,
Sarah Palin unlawfully abused her power as governor. The politically charged inquiry imperiled her reputation as a reformer on John McCain’s Republican ticket.
Investigator Stephen Branchflower, in a report to a bipartisan panel that looked into the matter, found Palin in violation of a state ethics law that prohibits public officials from using their office for personal gain.

NOW THAT IS HATE, it makes what MCCain / Palin said, pale. The biosed media never shows that. The 3 mil or more Obama is spending on 30 min. of TV time, while saying he cares for the middle class, he NEVER says anything about the poor, hungry and children.
He is self centered throw every thing but the kitchen sink, even if against the law, just to win, then see how our country falls. Then no one will be laughing but Obama. You middle class and poor think he cares about you if he is elected, he, Fairicon, Ayers, Palosi, Barney Frank, Dodd will just look at you and laugh and still not take any of this mess we are in. IT IS NOT ALL BUSH, DEMOCRATS have a majority in Washington and they did everything they could to ruin President George Bush. Has anyone ever seen Obama bee so dis-respectful to the President.

I have “checked out” as it relates to trusting our government. I am disapointed that the citizens of America have accepted the two party system, therefore being “allowed” to choose from a pool of only two candidates, which by the way are being “presented to us” by big business which is in part run by lobbyists, politicians, organized crime and the media.
Out of 300 million + people, we have two parties/ two choices. What is wrong with this picture?
Yes there are other candidates, other parties, but you do not hear about them anywhere. Who is deciding whether or not they should be herad from or whether or not we can hear from them? Ever wonder that?

I am sooo tired of the biased coverage of Sarah Palin. She can’t win no matter what she does. She brought her kids with her, probably so they could have some much needed family time and she is criticized. I bet Obama’s kids miss him. She is an intelligent woman who was a mayor and IS a Governor who had an almost unheard of approval rating of 80% before the unfounded attacks by the liberal media to try and discredit her. She is at least as qualified as Obama, if not more.

in a way, i don’t blame palin, i blame mccains handlers,
she is now taking all the heat for the way they have incited the mobs that have been showing up at her rally’
but i see it as she was just saying what she was told to say.
she has only been at it for five weeks,
and she was good at it.
but like anyone who is give such an opportunity as she had been given (or i guess, so she thought) she wanted to do a good job of it.
i wonder how mccain feels now because the town hall setting was suppose to be his best forum. and now it has gone down the drain. after the lady calling obama an arab. i don’t think mccain can trust giving the mike to any others in the audience.
i wonder how mccain feels about this.
tonight i saw a bumper sticker on a car that read like this
mccain-in very small letters (hardly read it)
PALIN-in VERY LARGE LETTERS

davis,
i thought the very same thing about the children.
why can’t she get a babysitter sometime?
you do not see any of the others with their children on the stage all the time.
and i am so afrain that little girl is going to drop that baby one day right on stage in front of the cameras.
it was nice to see the family, and i get the point. but to continue to do it, takes the specialness they were trying to convey right out of it.
and teenagers don’t like that kind of stuff, they know what is going on, and can see right through it, it really is a turn off. i asked my teenagers and some of her friends.
her teenagers don’t look happy to be up there-
sarah, let the kids stay with grandma and grandpa sometimes.

Sara Palin is an appalling mother. First she goes back to work 3 days after giving birth to her 5th child who has Down’s syndrome. What kind of a mother does that. Should she not have spent at least a few weeks with the neborn like all normal mothers do. Secondly, it is the way she brings the baby for pjoto-ops like at teh Republican convention and the debate. No sane person brings a baby to such events so late in the evening. Today, she knew she was going to be booed and brings her kids out to tone down the level of booing. She is one selfish kerk of a mother.

In an odd way, I feel sorry for Governor Palin. She is obviously in way over her head and doing the best she can to hold up her part of the bargin. It is obvious that she is in no way ready to play in this league. To her credit, she is being obedient and doing exactly what they tell her to do. The sad part is she is doing exactly what they are telling her to do.

I can not count the number of times the Obama’s have dragged their kids around to political functions, TV interviews and other places for the photo ops. Guess there is a double standard here with the Palins. The MSM has certainly lost its credibility during this election season.

The report said that she was guilty of abuse of power which IS an ethics violation! The bald face lying that is occurring at lightening speed in the McCain/Palin camp is making me dizzy and sick to my stomach!
By the way, I know someone who was at the hockey game and according to them, saying there was “healthy applause” for Palin is a stretch. The booing was vigorous and the applause very thin to non existent. (look at the tape and count how many people have their arms folded compared to those clapping.) But given that this is coming from Jake Tapper naturally it’s spun around the other way.

Meaning all the info you get is from snip-its and only one or two views.
I have been watching this campaign for almost 2 years…I read 20-30 newspapers online and in person, I do major research on all 4 candidates and have the time to watch all major networks and C-Span.
Everything that McCain/Palin are bringing up now were brought up by Hillary during the primaries and all were discounted and proved false.
I think those of you who are falling into the cracks of the uniformed, should go back and do proper research, be more informed before you vote.
I will not tell you one is better then the other, but I already know who isn’t and at least when I vote I will be more informed then some I see posting.

What kind of mom puts her kids in a situation where they are very likely to be booed by thousands of people? It might have been a politically astute decision, but it was definitely a poor parenting decision. Another Palin fail, in my opinion.

The reason some of the top federal prosecutors were removed from the job, according to the Justice Department report, is either the U.S. attorneys had the audacity to prosecute Republicans or because they failed to aggressively prosecute Democrats.
These are the crew that are supposed to enforce voting rights.
Scary.

rodney,
The “old woman” is a McCain volunteer. She didn’t get her talking points from any McCain literature, it was from a flyer (probably from a wingnut on some blog) and she has been redistributing it to other people AS A MCCAIN VOLUNTEER!
Either he has no control over his campaign, having ceded it to the nutcases, or he is willingly letting them distribute this hate.

Once Obama said of his deal with Rezko
“It was a Bone-Head move”.
The enabling MSM and ABC were just like……..”Oh OK”!
When is someone going to ask Obama……”Why would Rezko himself make such a “Bone-Headed move”???
There was / is no obvious gain for him in this deal. Plus they NEVER report that not only did the sale happen on the same day; but the sale HAD TO HAPPEN THAT WAY!!!
It was a PRE-CONDITION SET BY THE SELLER!!!!!!!!!!!!
I know it sounds “simplistic”; but except for some tree lined closure the “2″ properties looked the same.
“If” there’s an access from Obama’s to Rezko’s & if Obama’s kids & their friends ever use it to “run-around-n-play” then that to me is grounds for saying there is STILL an on-going relationship between Rezko and Obama. Why woudl you want your kids tolive next door to a criminal?

Hey, PALIN WAS BOOED FOR OVER A FULL MINUTE at that Phillies game. There was maybe a split-second of shock that management has let her in the arena in the first place, followed by loud and long chants against Palin’s appearance, her daughters’ presence notwithstanding.
Philadelphia _did_ show it’s class, by identifying the public menace Palin has become to the country. Thank you, again, Philadelphia, from your friends here in Baltimore!

It appears that the McCain camp is pushing hate lit out, but with plausible deniability built in. I wonder how many of the flyers they are sending out are printed by the McCain campaign, and how much is printed by someone in the background.

Hey, MSM! Wake Up! Obama’s a Socialist!
U.S. Senate Democratic candidate for Illinois, Barack Obama, and former Democratic presidential candidate, Howard Dean, were anticipated to appear at a Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) health care rally to be held in Chicago’s Lincoln Park.
Three NP-members won Democratic primaries last Spring and face off against Republican opponents on election day: Danny Davis (U.S. House), Barack Obama (State Senate) and Patricia Martin (Cook County Judiciary).

Second on the list, though her name is misspelled, is Leonore Annenberg, currently the president and chairman of the Annenberg Foundation and widow of ambassador and philanthropist Walter Annenberg. Ms. Annenberg was herself the “chief of protocol” at the State Department under President Reagan.
If the last name sounds familiar, it’s because it also graces the name of the Chicago education board where Barack Obama and William Ayers sat in the room.
An Annenberg official called the Huffington Post back on Wednesday afternoon. “You wanted to speak to Ms. Annenberg? She’s very elderly; she doesn’t do press interviews.”

Annenberg Challenge,
Maybe the reason the MSM has not picked up Reczko, Ayres, etc..is because there is nothing there to see. Maybe not in your eyes but you seem to be a bit biased.
By the same token, the MSM has not revisted in-depth McCain’s Keating 5 connection, his wife’s drug habit and investigation McCain helped go away, his propensity to use derogatory terms (against his wife even) when angered, his fondness for gambling, or his adultery with current wife Cindy.
Point is…There are serious issues that are affecting this country and you want to go down a rat hole which no new evidence simply to knock a candidate off his pedestal. It is not about truth with you guys….it is about winning.

* Missouri – Officials now have to sift through hundreds of bogus applications submitted last August.
* Connecticut – A criminal investigation has been opened into ACORN fraud.
* Wisconsin – Registering convicted felons.
* Ohio – ACORN tells Cuyahoga County’s election board that they can’t stop themselves from committing fraud.
* Indiana – Over a thousand new applications from ACORN appear to investigators to be fraudulent, and that should be no surprise, since Indianapolis now has 105% of its population registered to vote.
In Nevada, officials seemed surprised by the news that the Dallas Cowboys had moved en masse to the Silver State. The entire starting lineup registered to vote in Nevada, including Tony Romo, their quarterback. However, Secretary of State Ross Miller assured Nevadans that anyone posing as Terrell “TO” Owens would get a big NO if they tried to cast a vote.
Barack Obama helped run an ACORN unit, represented them as an attorney, and is now a client of ACORN. He needs to answer for their fraudulent tactics. His money helped fuel the organization, after all, and there is little doubt that they are working on his behalf. Their fraud intends to get him elected President. Will he denounce it, and demand prosecution? Or will he keep pretending that he doesn’t know them?

OCTOBER 10 2008
CHICAGO:Hillary supporters, upset about Chicago fraud politics invading their party are breaking ranks and working with republicans to provide evidence for RICO (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act) cases being filed against ACORN and Obama campaign in Chicago and across the country. Interestingly enough in the same article, Clinton supporters divulge that McCain is leading in their internal polling of battleground states, contrary to the cooked polls advertised by national polling outfits.
Republicans and centrist Democrats are joined together on this effort to get the truth out about Obama before the November election. We firmly believe in McCain’s victory and do not believe it hinges on any developments with RICO. The polls, in our opinon, are wrong, and the internal numbers we see coming out of NC, VA, PA, OH, IN and FL show McCain wins in all of those states (there is no mathematical possibility for Obama to win without taking PA, OH, or FL). We believe after McCain’s win there will be a continued prosecution of Obama and members of the Democratic party for voter fraud under RICO statutes in the months and years ahead.

The issue of voter fraud is only brought up when a candidate or his/her supporters do not want to admit defeat. Even though allegations are being brought up against both parties, it is impossible for the issue to affect the presidential race’s outcome unless the election came down to a few thousand votes, which is highly unlikely. Experts agree that voter fraud, at worst case scenario, could only amount to 1/10 of 1% of the vote in any state. It is a total non-issue, brought up as a smoke screen to draw attention to what should be the most important part of the elction: ISSUES! Leave the politics out of the election and focus on what the American people really want to hear. May the best man win… honestly!

This must be the “code zone”, because again the “Teflon King’s” spinners are trying to force guilt on the masses for actions done in an era of sin. Let’s slam Sarah Palin for being a “Hockey Mom” because that’s the sport of White Suppressive America.
Palin should have called herself a “Soccer Mom”, she could have identified herself with the world, that would have given her foreign policy experience. Instead, Obama’s camp called her “fluff”. Guess what, 50% of America is fluff and women are still in bondage.
Let’s fault her for her use of folk speech, because its not the words you hear on Rap.
Blacks are not the only ones who were persecuted in this country, forget native Americans, people of various ethnic and religious backgrounds, oh and the institutionalized Mentally Ill . Let’s forget about the Witch burnings.
It’s pathetic when Obama’s spin masters sink so low, blame Americans for what they have been doing themselves. Yes, you may get guilt votes for Obama, by deceptive techniques; bash the elderly, bash women, bash the disabled, send mailers showing McCain scarred, looking grotesque and remind us scared, scarred, disabled, sick, and weak of spirit, that you have a right to be angry. But you reared that ugly head of race and hatred with your stupid anger and viper retorts. And you may leave behind a highly qualified African-American candidate that could uplift this country in the spirit of Martin Luther King. Blacks don’t get into office just depending on the Black Vote.
Yeah, you might get Obama elected with your acid viper retorts and claim the high ground. Hide Obama’s connection with Ayers and other radicals that were anti-war activists whose policy sowed seeds hate and of a country divided making it more difficult to negotiate the end of the Vietnam war. And all the while American POW’s languished in Hanoi Hiltons. We left alright, left our Vietnamese friends to the mercy of butchers and the killing of innocent civilians, with years in between of hatred and scorn and our tail in defeat, letting our allies know, we could not be counted on when it COUNTS. Let’s forget about the innocents lost in wars after all they’re just collateral damage in the whole sceme.
I don’t agree with war, and I don’t blow up buildings. As a non-partisan, I feel like collateral damage in this tug of war of blame and politics.
Why the Annenburg Challenge, it reveals Failed education policies, Anti-Union activity; Bill Ayers, a Communist with a small “c”. Maybe there’s an ACORN there, not falling too far from the your tree. It’s like a pac man that keeps eating, costing us, the tax payers, on both sides of the fence, funding them and paying on the other end of it for the investigations and prosecutions.
Let’s keep hiding Obama’s associates.
Let’s blame Bush, when the Nation elected him. If you didn’t vote for him, look to your neighbor because somebody did.
Let’s blame all Republicans for Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and the bailout, let’s blame ourselves, our own greed because its so easy not to accept responsibility. It’s so much easier to have someone else lead us like a Pied Piper.
This country is hemorrhaging, we have politicians are jumping in and out of their shorts, and we spent so much money educating these proverbial Brain Trusts.
Let’s spend more money on education so the Educated Brain Trusts can tell us how bad we are, how teachers are underfunded, and children can not read or write. Maybe we can use some ACORN money and common sense in that direction.
Let the media Brain Trusts claim victory for making a King because they are still seething over Dan Rather. When the “Truth Squads” coming knocking on your door, maybe then you’ll understand the first Amendment and how you abandoned it on your path to revenge.
Let’s waive a white flag of defeat so that our enemies will know how weak, divided and pathetic we are so we can prolong our wars.
Let’s forget our brothers and sisters in freedom and ideals who languishing in jail in China because they spoke up while we continue to feed the Chinese economy and laud the spectacular visual effects of the Olympics, the media painted so well.
And last but not least, thanks to the Veterans who gave me this right, thanks to the teachers that taught me to read and write in small town America, in classes with over forty students and double sessions. And lastly, thank you Rev Wright, you taught me just what “God “D” America” means. One Voice, One Vote

People keep claiming sexism but never offer any proof that the Obam’s campaign is being sexist. Is it secist to ask a woman the same question you would ask a man in the same situation? I personally don’t think so I think it would be sexist not to ask her these questions. In fact I would agree that the media has been sexist in their questioning of Gov. Palin for the exact opposite reason that you are probably saying they are sexist (but then I don’t know that because you don’t give any reason for your accusations of sexism in the media) because all the media has done so far is ask her easy soft-ball question like what newspapers she reads which she couldn’t answer for three days. I for one am afraid of the idea that she could possibly become our president if anything were to happen to McCain because if it takes three days to respond to an easy question like that how long would it take her to respond to a national emergency? It took her just as long to respond to what she reads as it took Bush to respond to Katrina.
So what is your reasoning for crying sexism? I’m sure a lot of people would like to know.

Sarah Palin as Governor of Alaska found guilty Friday in legislative investigation for abuse of power to try to get her former bother inlaw fired. Used her easy access to his supervisors, government heads, employee records, her staff, etc to pursue her personal vendetta against Trooper Wooten. This is illegal!!! Worst against Palin still to come!! Lawsuits highly likely!! Attorneys all over country likely to jump on this high profile investigation. Top litigation attorneys were sure fired up over results of investigation yesterday. Note and they knew lots more information with held by Palin existed. With small amount of information legilature got Palin still found guilty. Palin-McCain lost in court 100%. Judge ordered Friday all email public and private must be preserved and saved.
Palin is dishonest and evil. Sorry, but am really mad and shocked at her behavior. She is guilty of Abuse of Power as Governor. She is guilty of enticing crowd rage. Then smiles as crowd yells “kill him”, “off with his head”, “terrorist”, “treason”. These are dangerous actions!! Appears she is suggestively encouraging possible assassination of a Presidential Candidate – Barak Obama!! This Ayers terrorist association needs to stop. This was 40+ years ago when Obama small child. Ayers never convicted at trial. He has worked quite hard to live law abiding and productive life trying to help society and make up for his actions. Ayers is now respectd Professor at University of Illinois, well known & respected expert on educational reform, wrote multiple books, served/s on many Chicago community groups/associations that help people, bestowed by university with Distinguished Professor Award, bestowed Citizen of Year Award Chicago for his volunteer work for educational reform, speaks at universities across the country, etc. Democrats and Republicans supporting and defending Ayers in Chicago. Obama served on Boar with Ayers. He is not a close personal friend of Ayers.

Senator Obama and the abuse of power
Funneling tax payer money to the corrupt ACORN group that is trying to change the election outcome by fraud.
Funneling money to his wife’s employer so she she received a super pay raise.
Funneling money to his Trinity Church that teaches racism and hate mongering.
Governor Palin wsas trying to get an abusive drunk, angry man from a job where he could harm others. She was doing the right thing. An investigative reporter stated he had a list of bad behavior/abuses as long as your arm as reported by a state investigation. Just tazering an 11 year old for fun should be a criminal act.
Those looking at this rationaling know this was political stunt. The trooper should be fired and the commissioner was not acting in the best interest of the state. If you want to know what kind of guy this trooper was, just ask one of his four ex-wives. He is and was scum.

Extremists Mark Chryson and Steve Stoll helped launch Palin’s political career in Alaska, and in return had influence over policy. “Her door was open,” says Chryson — and still is.

When Palin won the election, the men who had once shouted anti-government slogans outside City Hall now had a foothold inside the mayor’s office. Palin attempted to pay back her newfound pals during her first City Council meeting as mayor. In that meeting, on Oct. 14, 1996, she appointed Stoll to one of the City Council’s two newly vacant seats. But Palin was blocked by the single vote of then-Councilman Nick Carney, who had endured countless rancorous confrontations with Stoll and considered him a “violent” influence on local politics. Though Palin considered consulting attorneys about finding another means of placing Stoll on the council, she was ultimately forced to back down and accept a compromise candidate.

Posted by: karen | October 12, 2008, 5:42 pm 5:42 pm

By Chryson’s account, he and Palin also worked hand-in-glove to slash property taxes and block a state proposal that would have taken money for public programs from the Permanent Fund Dividend, or the oil and gas fund that doles out annual payments to citizens of Alaska. Palin endorsed Chryson’s unsuccessful initiative to move the state Legislature from Juneau to Wasilla. She also lent her support to Chryson’s crusade to alter the Alaska Constitution’s language on gun rights so cities and counties could not impose their own restrictions. “It took over 10 years to get that language written in,” Chryson said. “But Sarah [Palin] was there supporting it.”
“With Sarah as a mayor,” said Chryson, “there were a number of times when I just showed up at City Hall and said, ‘Hey, Sarah, we need help.’ I think there was only one time when I wasn’t able to talk to her and that was because she was in a meeting.”
Chryson says the door remains open now that Palin is governor. (Palin’s office did not respond to Salon’s request for an interview.

The AIP was born of the vision of “Old Joe” Vogler, a hard-bitten former gold miner who hated the government of the United States almost as much as he hated wolves and environmentalists. His resentment peaked during the early 1970s when the federal government began installing Alaska’s oil and gas pipeline. Fueled by raw rage — “The United States has made a colony of Alaska,” he told author John McPhee in 1977 — Vogler declared a maverick candidacy for the governorship in 1982. Though he lost, Old Joe became a force to be reckoned with, as well as a constant source of amusement for Alaska’s political class. During a gubernatorial debate in 1982, Vogler proposed using nuclear weapons to obliterate the glaciers blocking roadways to Juneau. “There’s gold under there!” he exclaimed.

McCain is a man who has made sacrafice for a country he loves; while Obama has been pals with domestic terrorists. End of story. Where’s the birth certificate??
Show it or shut up.

‘John McCain opened the Pandora’s Box of hate and bigotry, of disenfranchisement and scapegoating, and there’s no way for him to reel it in. Nor do I suspect that he truly realizes the power of it either.’

Hillary Clinton gave a strong endorsement to Barack Obama by celebrating the end of the Bush administration, shouting:
“Make no mistake about it. We’ve done it before and we will do it again. America will once again rise from the ashes of the Bushe

McCain and Palin see that their being defeated by a very intelligent, strong black man. And now they’re resorting to LIES. The hate and prejudice of this country is being seen and felt by so many whites, and ignorant blacks. Palin is a back woods, red neck, uneducated white woman, who’s only purpose in this election was to get Hilary female supporters. Are women so blind that they would want someone like Palin to represent them? She needs to be home taking care of her 5 kids, especially the baby who really needs the love and attention from his mother. But what do you expect from a mother who’s water broke and she flew 8 hrs. She doesn’t care about her own family other than her attempt at showing them off, do you really think she cares about any of us? She’s uneducated not only by college standards but more importantly the knowledge of what’s going on in the world. She was happy with having her husband and herself bullying the citizens of Alaska. She needs to be in prison for what she’s done. Its called terrorism. She terrorized that man (and others will surface soon), because he didn’t want her sister. If the sister left him there would be no need for revenge. For a person to go after someone’s lively hood because of a personal vendetta is terrible. How many people will she go after if she were VP? Wake up people, this woman is BAD news. This is the most interesting President election I’ve ever seen. LIES, LIES,AND MORE LIES will be heard in the next couple of weeks. I want a president who will help me pay to send my children to college, someone who will put a end to people’s social security going to people who never worked, a day in their life but can receive SS because they chose to drink, do drugs, etc. A president who wants equallity for ALL PEOPLE regardless of race, economic status, etc. A president who will bring the troops home and let these foreign coountries fight there own battles. Why are we still there? There are so many issues that if we continue to be so prejudice we all will suffer. Minorities are not the only ones who have to pay high gas prices, high heating bills, rent, mortgage, taxes etc. What happens to one group happens to us all. Do you really think that a man who married for money himself, knows what its like to go without? Or maybe he did and that’s why he married her. Every where you go you see ads about education (no child left behind, sylvan learning centers, etc) look at the Repub. educational background. That’s the one issue they haven’t talk about, higher learning. You know why, because they don’t have it. They talk about the healthcare issue because McCains healthcare is all taken care of due to his veteran status. He wants the American people to purchase their own insurance. What that spells out is people will be uninsured, causing hospitals, private offices and walk in centers to be stuck with million of dollars worth of unpaid bills. There goes our SS, 401k’s being tapped by the gov. to pay the bills. Employers need to provide health care since they already get tax breaks.

GOOD GOD!
Don’t you people realize you’re being “played” by both parties and candidates? They’re opposite sides of the same coin!
One seeks to rule by force the other by consent! One plainly let’s it be known that he takes corporate money, etc. the other hides it with CEOs and other top members donating (check out “obama’s money cartel”).
PLEASE WAKE UP!
