The Note: Plumber Can’t Unclog Race for McCain
ABC News’ Rick Klein reports in Thursday’s Note:
As the great battle of Joe the Overexposed Plumber vs. Barack the Overspending Campaigner rages on (with Sarah the Overdressed Hockey Mom as sideshow), there’s another game playing out, just over their heads.
Sen. Barack Obama is now in the enviable position of seeking to become president by looking presidential.
Sen. John McCain, meanwhile, knows that he can only become president by making his rival look un-presidential. (Two Joes — the Plumber and the Senator — are being enlisted to help.)
It may be a subtle distinction, but it matters for the home stretch. McCain is throwing it all at him now — taxes and spending and flip-flops and plumbers and terrorism (and terrorists).
A closing argument (at last) comes together: McCain is portraying Obama as too risky to be president.

“He’ll say anything to get elected,” McCain said of Obama Wednesday night, per ABC’s Bret Hovell.
A line that says just as much about where Obama stands: “I feel like we got a righteous wind at our backs here,” Obama said Wednesday in Leesburg, Va., ABC’s Jake Tapper and Sunlen Miller report.
Regardless of the source of that breeze, Obama is in a stage of his campaign where he can ease perceptions of risk just by showing up. (Or not showing up: He’s set to drop off the electoral map for 48 hours, to visit his grandmother in Hawaii after a Thursday morning campaign event in Indianapolis.)
It’s 54-43 in the latest ABC News/Washington Post tracking poll — and the portrait of a president begins to emerge.
“Barack Obama has shored up his experience rating to the point where it now surpasses George W. Bush’s in 2000 and matches Bill Clinton’s in 1992, addressing what has been Obama’s greatest vulnerability in the presidential election,” ABC Polling Director Gary Langer writes. “Fifty-six percent of likely voters now say Obama has the experience it takes to serve effectively as president, up from 48 percent after the Republican convention. That’s now better than George W. Bush’s rating just in advance of the 2000 election.”
“Former secretary of state Colin Powell’s endorsement provides a new boost for Obama, who has made significant progress with voters as a leader in international affairs,” per The Washington Post’s Jon Cohen. “But Obama also continues to be lifted by more fundamental advantages, including a 2 to 1 advantage on ‘helping the middle-class.’ ”

McCain is such a whiner. His economic adviser was spot on except he should have said the GOP has become a party of whiners.
I was at the rally when he said that. There was a slight breeze at our backs. He meant it literally folks.
It was a beautiful afternoon. Everyone was PUMPED.

in myn opinion, the media will try to get its earliest guage on who the winner will be on nov. 4. thus it will hurt voting in the west and possibly dishearten would be voters out there. I dont think any results should be given until all the polls are closed. I dont blame the media for trying to “break the news”, but it has become a spectacle and not journalism.

My husband (an anal retentive nerd and I say that lovingly!) actually printed out MCCain and Obama’s plans from their web sites. Being a parttime H and R block employee, he worked Joe’s 250.00 business (which of course we all now was a lie)as if it were a tax return. I told you the man is an anal retentive ner Guess what Ole Joe comes outahead by something like 1500.00 under Obama’s plan. He comes out about 500.00 ahead under McCain’s. It is not a scientific survey but when he did our taxes the same way we came out about 1000.00 ahead under Obama and about 400.00 ahead under McCain. SOLD!Obama/Biden 08

Right on RedDog. So everyone get out and vote. I don’t care who your candidate is or what your position is. Be an American and show that you appreciate the sacrifice that so many have made to give you the right to vote. On November 5th, no matter who you and I voted for we all elected the guy who is President, and he is our President whether we like it or not.

How do you define this 700 billion dollar bailout?
How do explain that McCain was against the Bush tax cuts calling them irresponsible?
How do explain some family losing their home and someone who is a multi-millionaire buying up those homes for less than half the price?
How do you explain the greed and corruption in corprations and the ultra-rich and also asking us to trust that they will treat their workers fairly (HASNT HAPPENED YET)
How do you explain AIG taking elaborate boondoggles after being infused with your tax dollars and you have the nerve to start bellyaching about pieces of pie.

I wonder if the red states are just playing Obama. That is, are they fudging the polls in order to make him spend money in their states? With the economy as it is, I wouldn’t be surprised. Why not let him “spread his fundraising wealth around?” And then, on election day, remain red. It will be interesting to see if this is the case.

how is it that all of our politicians make a ceratin figure and when they get out of office that they have accumulated wealth 100 times over??? its kind of funny how money isnt tangeable to either side. its just a number and dont have a clue on what the value of a single doolar is. look at how much is wasted by ALL of them. They are all corrupt. thats the bottom line. soo, everyone go ahead and claim your guy is the only choice and keep beating your heads into the wall, because nothing will change and we will always blame the other side for our troubles.

The Tax System – Explained With Beer
Suppose that every day, ten men go out for beer and the bill for all ten comes to $100. If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something like this:
The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing.
The fifth would pay $1.
The sixth would pay $3.
The seventh would pay $7.
The eighth would pay $12.
The ninth would pay $18.
The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59.
So, that’s what they decided to do.
The ten men drank in the bar every day and seemed quite happy with the arrangement, until one day, the owner threw them a curve. “Since you are all such good customers,” he said, “I’m going to reduce the cost of your daily beer by $20.”Drinks for the ten now cost just $80.
The group still wanted to pay their bill the way we pay our taxes so the first four men were unaffected. They would still drink for free. But what about the other six men – the paying customers? How could they divide the $20 windfall so that everyone would get his ‘fair share?’
They realized that $20 divided by six is $3.33. But if they subtracted that from everybody’s share, then the fifth man and the sixth man would each end up being paid to drink his beer. So, the bar owner suggested that it would be fair to reduce each man’s bill by roughly the same amount, and he proceeded to work out the amounts each should pay.
And so:
The fifth man, like the first four, now paid nothing (100% savings).
The sixth now paid $2 instead of $3 (33%savings).
The seventh now pay $5 instead of $7 (28%savings).
The eighth now paid $9 instead of $12 ( 25% savings).
The ninth now paid $14 instead of $18 ( 22% savings).
The tenth now paid $49 instead of $59 (16% savings).
Each of the six was better off than before. And the first four continued to drink for free. But once outside the restaurant, the men began to compare their savings.
“I only got a dollar out of the $20,”declared the sixth man. He pointed to the tenth man,” but he got $10!”
“Yeah, that’s right,” exclaimed the fifth man. “I only saved a dollar, too. It’s unfair that he got ten times more than I!”
“That’s true!!” shouted the seventh man. “Why should he get $10 back when I got only two? The wealthy get all the breaks!”
“Wait a minute,” yelled the first four men in unison. “We didn’t get anything at all.
The system exploits the poor!”
The nine men surrounded the tenth and beat him up.
The next night the tenth man didn’t show up for drinks, so the nine sat down and had beers without him. But when it came time to pay the bill, they discovered something important. They didn’t have enough money between all of them for even half of the bill!
And that, boys and girls, journalists, lawyers and college professors, is how our tax system works. The people who pay the highest taxes get the most benefit from a tax reduction. Tax them too much, attack them for being wealthy, and they just may not show up anymore. In fact, they might start drinking overseas where the atmosphere is somewhat friendlier.

When is McCain going to come clean regarding his close relationship with unrepentant, convicted felon G. Gordon Liddy? Liddy received a 20 year sentence for several felonies committed during the Watergate scandal. Liddy conducted a fund-raiser in his home for McCain. Liddy gave several large contributions to McCain. Liddy has hosted McCain on his radio show. As a convicted felon, Liddy is forbidden to own firearms. Yet he boasts of his many guns. Why is it that McCain consorts with this “enemy of democracy” as a Chicago Tribune opinion piece characterized him?

Powerful House Democrats are eyeing proposals to overhaul the nation’s $3 trillion 401(k) system, including the ELIMINATION of most of the $80 billion in annual tax breaks that 401(k) investors receive.
House Education and Labor Committee Chairman George Miller, D-California, and Rep. Jim McDermott, D-Washington, chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee’s Subcommittee on Income Security and Family Support, are looking at redirecting those tax breaks to a new system of guaranteed retirement accounts to which all workers would be obliged to contribute.
Hmm …. “a system of guaranteed retirement accounts to which all workers would be obliged to contribute.” That sounds very, very familiar, doesn’t it? Don’t we already do this with Social Security?
That means your employer can no longer write off their contributions to your 401(k), and your capital gains would be TAXABLE year-on-year. In other words, it becomes just another investment or savings account, with no tax benefit at all, and no employer contribution. Instead, Uncle Sam would give you your “matching” funds — up to a whopping $600 per year! Whoopee!
Maybe you’ll be lucky, and they’ll have Franklin Raines running the agency issuing those bonds.
The Democrats want to end the private retirement system that has allowed Americans to become a vast investor class and put them back in thrall of the federal government. This is nothing more than a second welfare system that would sit on top of the crumbling Social Security entitlement. It would leave the American working and middle classes with no retirement option other than a government handout.
If the Democrats control both Congress and the White House, kiss your 401(k)s goodbye.

“FDR got on televison after the 1929″ (FDR wasn’t president and there was no TV in 1929)
In the VP debate, Biden said he goes to Katy’s Diner to find out what “real American’s feel” (Katy’s closed in the late 80′s)
While in Canton Ohio he said as a child I dreamed of growing up and being in the Football hall of fame. (No Football hall of fame when he was a child – it didnt’ open until Joe was in his early 20′s)
He said he graduated at the top of his class in law school. 76th out of 85 isn’t at the top.
It goes on and on…Joe is pathological liar and the liberal press lets him get away with it.
I am clinging to my guns because all hell is going to break loose with Obama, Pelosi, Reid and Joe the Moran in charge.

Once again, for the umpteenth time, I listened to the replay of Obama talking with “Joe The Plumber” and heard every word Obama said to him. He spoke with the guy for about 5 minutes, explaining in great detail, what his tax plan was and how it would benefit Joe whether he owned the business or not. And only if Joe’s net revenue reached over $280,000 would Joe pay higher taxes. It all made perfect sense. Why McCain’s people think they can use this to hurt Obama is amazing. If it did anything, it helped Obama since he was so clear and thoughtful in his response to Joe’s questions. Joe seemed to understand it, but then, again Joe was for McCain from the beginning, so even if he understood it, it wouldn’t change his mind.

In 1973 the Illinois Supreme Court refused to grant him a license to practice law in the state. It cited several instances of troubling conduct on Martin’s part.
He has also been described by state psychiatrists as having a “moderately severe character defect manifested by well-documented ideation with a paranoid flavor and a grandiose character.”
Known for his Anti-Semitic remarks
Campaigned to exterminate the Jew Power in America
Labeled a vextaious litigant
Was found to be the primary source of false rumors of Obama.
The GOP wants to be as far from him as possible.

my point is that they are all to blame. all we are doing is electing more of the same. both candidates are the same. same policies just woded differently

McCain votes more the most socialist bill in American history, and then John McCain 9and the uneducarted lemming here) turn around and call Obama a socialist.
Based on what policy proposal?
I dare you to say taking away rich tax breaks is socialism, because I will provide a quote from McCain saying it is a great thing to do
Posted by: GOP is DOA | October 23, 2008, 10:03 am 10:03 am
I never said they were not all to blame. I said that John McCain is a liar for calling Barack Obama a socialist since he voted for the same bill.
Hypocrisy by definition.

Michelle’s wardrobe and complete makeover so she can look like an “Angel” on the View show!
_______________________________________________
You must be referring to Michelle’s $148.00 dress bought off the rack at White House/Black Market, a very popular clothing store chain. Following her appearance on the VIEW, the store could not keep the dress in stock.

MORE GOVERNMENT SPENDING!!!!!!!!Thats exactly what we need. all the politicians do is increase the size of government. both parties suck, and so do their candidates. neither has a plan to cut spending.

Joe The Talking Parrot, DEFINES the word “IDIOT”. He has made more gaffes in the last 6 weeks (since he was nominated) than Palin has made in her entire career. Of, course the left-wing-liberal media clowns report Biden’s gaffes only as a footnote to their “24-hour-news-for-dummies” broadcasts.
Lots of fun with Joey’s gaffes here:

QUOTES VOTERS SHOULD KNOW:
BIDEN: QUOTE: “Obama is not ready to be Presdident”.
HILLARY CLINTON: QUOTE: “Obama lacks all the skills needed for the most demanding job on earth and is woefully lacking in experience.”
JESSE JACKSON: QUOTE: “I would like to cut Obamas nuts off.”
You got to love Jesse for he can say it all in just a few words and eloquently too.

Lets explain the tax system and relationships of production with this analogy.
One hundred men go to drink beers.
At the door of the tavern only one man the richest is allowed in. The other 99 are told they must find the water, grow the barley, turn it into malt, do the mashing, lautering, boiling, hopping, hop separation, cooling, fermentation, storing, packaging, shipping and serving.
The rich man gets to drink 99 of the 100 beers. The 99 workers gets to share one beer. The rich man has to give 36% of one his 99 beers as a tax. The workers have to each give about 30% of their one 99th of one beer as a tax to the bar. The workers complain and the bar owner says, okay the rich guy has to give 39% of one beer instead of 36%. The rich guy says, why should I have to give any more than the other 99 guys? I want a flat tax. I want to give just 30% of 1/99th of one beer like everybody else.
In a proposed happy ending to this story,
The workers say, “Go to hell,” to the rich man. The rich man leaves the bar and for the first time the 99 workers get to drink 100 beers and enjoy the fruits of their labor.
The rich man quickly dies of thirst.

We’re not taking anything for granted. Lots of voters are concerned about the election getting stolen from Obama. All we can do is just get out the vote by overwhelming numbers.
Vote Obama for a future for our children. Time to invest in their future because big corporations certainly won’t.

Joe The Talking Parrot, DEFINES the word “IDIOT”.
————————-
Not quite, THIS defines the word “idiot”:
“But ultimately, what the bailout does is help those who are concerned about the health care reform that is needed to help shore up the economy– Helping the — Oh, it’s got to be about job creation too. Shoring up our economy and putting it back on the right track. So health care reform and reducing taxes and reining in spending has got to accompany tax reductions and tax relief for Americas.
And trade we’ve got to see trade as opportunity, not as a competitive scary thing. But 1 in 5 jobs being created in the trade sector today. We’ve got to look at that as more opportunity. All those things under the umbrella of job creation.
This bailout is a part of that.”
GUESS WHICH QUOTE WILL BE THE MOST MEMORABLE AFTER THE ELECTION?
GUESS WHICH ONE WILL STILL BE GETTING AIR TIME IN EVERY FUTURE ELECTION CYCLE AS AN EXAMPLE OF A DUFAS VP CANDIDATE?
DAN QUAIL SAYS, “THANKS GOV PALIN”.

Sen. Barack is TOO RISKY to be Prez!!!
1) He sat in a church where his spiritual advisor said GOD DAMN AMERICA! Obama quickly broke off that association when Hillary exposed him.
2) Ayers chose Obama to be the guy to distibute $50 million to reform education in Chicago (reform = distributing money to radical groups, including ACORN, that preach rebelling against their authority among youths). He launched his political campaign in Ayers home. Obama dismisses Ayers as a guy that “lived in his neighborhood”. Please! Who is Obama even addressing with that whopping excuse? Mr. Rogers??
3) Obama gave $800,000 to ACORN, a group committing VOTER FRAUD, violating the sacred rights of all other Americans.
4) He bought his home at a 50% off sale conducted by Tony Rezko
5) Obama has a COCAINE history. That’s not the type of judgement Americans want in the White House!
6) Why do you think Fannie kept buying all of these mortgages which they knew were bad? Because CORRUPT POLITICIANS were making money off of them. Obama was the number 2 recipient of money made from Fannie Mae. I would call a guy RISKY when he puts his own interests before the people he’s supposed to be serving. In doing so he promoted inflated housing values, destruction of people’s credit ratings making them not able to get a mortgage and fulfill the American dream in the future.
7) His running mate, JOE BIDEN, even agrees that Obama is TOO RISKY and will be TESTED by other world leaders. No thanks, I don’t want to vote for someone who’s going to INVITE AN ATTACK on this country!!!
Obama is certainly TOO RISKY to be PREZ. Obama wouldn’t even get a job at your local police departments folks!
Obama WOULDN’T PASS SECURITY CLEARANCE if he was applying for a job with the US intelligence agencies!!!
He breaks off RADICAL ASSOCIATIONS whenever it is POLITICALLY EXPEDIENT!!!

politics as usual by both sides. neither has a real solution to any of our problems. they will throw tons more money at problems in hopes that that will fix the problem. the old addage says that you can lead a horse to water, but you cant make him take a drink. we already have an abundance of spending which, if it really went to what it was supposed to be used for and actually implimented, could make a positive difference. Both of these guys will not hold any fatcat accountable for abusing the money they were given to solve the problem. We as citizens of this great land need to demand that our government is held accountable for every penny that is spent! congress has zero accountabilty for all of its spending. Audit congress and make sure that they use OUR money the way it was intended and not use OUR money as a cash cow

McCain will win for the simple fact that he appeals to the latent racism and bigoted views of a sizeable number of ignorant americans.
These people who do not have any idea of the world outside of america and their own blinkered view of the world.
Face it folks, obama is too ahead of his time and too many people cannot see past the fact that he had black blood in him.
America has lost a great chance to regain its standing as a force for good in the world. One can only wonder what could have been when you are faced by 4 more years of the same failed economic policies and arrogant and racist foreign policies which have lit a blaze of hatred for america around the world while you all comfort yourselves with the same old “we are right, and everybody envies us” blinkered thinking.

You must be smoking something funny if you think that we believe that Obama is paying for his and Michelle’s designer wardrobe, while campaining.
Mickey Mouse- would you like a job in my company? I pay better than Obama pays his Dumb-O-Bots! You better get a real job fast because I WILL NOT be paying for your – you know what – to sit at home, doing nothing! Katie, I suggest you get a grip on yourself. Obama is a decent and good choice to be president and probably will be be elected in 2 weeks. What are you going to do? Spend the next 4 years screaming and posting garbage in all caps.
Get over it, take a deep breath and take your meds.
Between the debates and the economic crisis, Obama got the chance to prove he is commander in chief material.
The one thing that kept him from opening up an lead and kept voters skeptical was never his race, as the pundits wanted it to be, but, that fact that he was a young and fairly new figure on the scene.
With everything going on, voters were not sure he had what it took.
The debates gave the voters a chance to see Obama go toe to toe with McCain and the economy gave him a chance to show how he governed or handled a crisis.
In voters minds, he passed the test well.

Americans Need to Open their minds back up, And Actually See what is happening.
Obama Has told you over and over He is going to Change your Government.
Ayers, Wright, Soros, DNC/Chicago Machine Want our Government changed they all hate it.
What do you think he will change it to?
Socialist, Communist, Marxist?
Obama Spread the wealth, He is taking from the wealthy giving to the poor, trying to change the class system. He will raise the poor and low income up to middle class, and they will not have to work to attain it, or pay taxes to get it. The middle Class may get some tax credits, but you will still go to work everyday and pay taxes.
Sounds like Rev Wrights redistribution of wealth.
He will control you health care, When it is controled by the government, you lose. You are not getting something for nothing, Tax payers will pay. for all those who do not work, all those illegal immingrants, You the tax payer will pay for theirs also.
He wants to start a new Civil National Military Unit. His own Army. Paid for by the government. We have the National Guard, why not improve them and expand them. What will he use them for Martial Law? Does he plan a war on America soil or to take over the Government and Control America? Either way, America does not need either.
He wants to throw money into his own Army, and cut Defense, when in the world around us. China, Russia, Korea, Iran are all building up, and going to have the cutting edge over US.
Mr Obama is a very secretive person. His past is like a empty slate. He only tells us what he wants to know. The Only reason we know about Rezko, Wright or Ayers is because it leaked out, other wise he was not going to Tell America.
What else is there we do not know? What else is he harboring in secrects? What else has he lied to Americans about?
Obama a man who came from No where fast.
With a lousy Congressional Record.
Who has ran on a speech and marketing and Advertising.
His speeches were charamatic and moving and mind conditioning.
He told Americans, What they thought, What they needed, What they wanted and how to feel. He told you Who to blame for your problems, He told you He would Change the Government.
He Broke you down, and then built your hopes and Dreams up by Telling you it is what you wanted and needed, Told you over and over in repititious speeches.
Mr Obama has proven, he can lie, that he loves to spend money on himself, Loves to be Center Stage, Wants to Win at all cost, Wants and Promised to change your Government, Wants to make History, wants to spread the wealth around. He Wants you to be Loyal Followers. He loves the Power.
Remember The people in Chicago & Illinois are still waiting on the promises he promised them, he got what he wanted but Failed them miserably.
Mr Obama does not say he wants to Serve his Country or the People. He does not say He will Defend and Protect the Constitution, the Country or The people.
His Actions, words and Deeds show he wants to Rule the Country, and you.
So Think Long and hard before voting. Be positive What you are voting for.

Joel: Are you like the professor’s that voted against this country for their actions against Ayer’s. Are you telling me that you agree to Obama’s friendship with a terrorist that bombed this country. A radical of the 60′s along with Bernadine? That leads me to believe that you and thousands of American’s are also anti-american for voting for a candidate who doesn’t care who his associates are and what they did. Obama was not 8 years old when he welcomed Ayer’s donations to his campaign knowing all along the was the bomber. What is in the white people’s minds to vote for a candidate like Obama who wouldn’t know what to do if there was another attack in this country. Powell jumped unto Obama’s bangwagon because he knows Obama is dumb. And it is a race problem with Powell. Both are half white, half black (Jamacian)but retain the black side.

Natasha, there is a report out today saying that both McCains and Obamas pay for their own clothes.
Actually, the obama’s wear their own off the rack clothes.
Remember the dress that Michelle wore on the View. That was not a designer dress. it was off the rack from a chain woman’s clothing store and they found the dress on backorder for months after that.
You see, not everyone needs high end designer clothes like Caribou Barbie and her family feel they do.
and unless you are rolling in money, it will McCain who raises your taxes to pay for the tax cuts he would give to corporations and his wealthy buddies.
You see, the republicans are the borrow and spend party.

Obama’s a smooth talker and mccain isnt. they have basically the same “plan for america” and that is what scares me. they both have bigger government in mind. when are americans going to wake up and realize that the only time politicians “care” is when they need our vote. after nov. 4 neither will give a damn about anyone but the lobbyists and who will line their pocket. neither are leaders. hence why they are legislators. the U.S. is in trouble and has been leaning towards a more “progressive” ideal. “She’ll get there” as in NO FFS OF COURSE SHE’S NOT READY, ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME?
I think Big Arnie is torn, of course he supports McCain… but at the same time he knows McCain screwed up bigtime picking Palin the fatal cancer.

seah: You are so right about Obama. Obama was never a community organizer like the media is stating. He was organizing himself to get known because he was planning a run for the senate not to help the people on the southside of Chicago. Obama is for himself and what people can do for him. Powell seen the Bradley Effect taking place and that’s why he jumped on Obama’s bandwagon. And that is a race issue. And Biden’s words of wisdom is true. Obama could not run this country without the help of Biden and Powell because he lacks any kind of experience in politics and foreign policy. This country will be in the biggest mess it ever was if he is elected and maybe God will let that happen to America to wake the people up. The majority of the people voting for Obama need a good jolt. And the people that critize Palin for the RNC buying those expensive clothes should be more interested in Obama giving Acorn $880,000 of his campaign money plus $90 million to another person from his campaign money. That is a lot more than $150,000. Obama should spend some money on Michele to get a complete new wardrobe and a makover on her face and hair. No first lady ever looked like her.

For those who think republicans are so wonderful From Andrew Sullivan quoting an article by Radley Balko:
The Republican Party has exiled its Goldwater-Reagan wing and given up all pretense of any allegiance to limited government. In the last eight years, the GOP has given us a monstrous new federal bureaucracy in the Department of Homeland Security. In the prescription drug benefit, it’s given us the largest new federal entitlement since the Johnson administration. Federal spending—even on items not related to war or national security—has soared. And we now get to watch as the party that’s supposed to be “free market” nationalizes huge chunks of the economy’s financial sector…
They’ve failed in staying true to their principles of limited government and free markets. They’ve failed in preventing elected leaders of their party from becoming corrupted by the trappings of power, and they’ve failed to hold those leaders accountable after the fact. Congressional Republicans failed to rein in the Bush administration’s naked bid to vastly expand the power of the presidency (a failure they’re going to come to regret should Obama take office in January). They failed to apply due scrutiny and skepticism to the administration’s claims before undertaking Congress’ most solemn task—sending the nation to war. I could go on.
As for the Bush administration, the only consistent principle we’ve seen from the White House over the last eight years is that of elevating the American president (and, I guess, the vice president) to that of an elected dictator.

Susie and the comments of:
))
David R. Kamerschen, Ph.D.
Professor of Economics

))
Regarding the analogy of taxes and beer.
How about this scenario::
Joe is an average person who scrapes by on his grades but gets into a really good job because mommy and daddy have money and he goes to the right schools. Because of his connections he rises to the top of the pile and is in charge of a large corporation or bank. He’s not the smartest but he is well connected.
Fred works at the local car company, he earns decent money can buy a car a house and together with him and his wife working can support his mortgage some beer and 2 kids.
joe decides its cheaper to make items abroad so he shuts down the car plant and outsources because to him its just a way to make more money. He plays the futures market in oil and together with some friends drive the cost of a gallon of gas from $1.80 to $4.00
Fred is laid off his good paying job is gone, although his wife works he is having trouble finding another job and he really cant afford his wifes gasoline bill , food , and a mortgage. He defaults on his mortgage.
Joe is starting to have problems his bank made a lot o money loaning out on the assumption house prices would always rise and they could foreclose and re sell at a profit. Whats more no one is buying his imported cars and the crude oil futures is loosing him money . After fudging the books and doing creative accounting he decides he will have to declare the company bankrupt. Luckily he is well connected and after some pressure from friends is likely to receive a tax payer bail out. After all he has become accustomed to earning $250 million a year but that appears to be in jeopardy too.
Fred is out of work still. His wife and family are living with mom and dad and for the first time in his life he will vote democrat.

ABC should not be eliminating comments made about Obama and Joe if they are fact based. When I said that Obama mad a mistake picking Joe Biden I am correct. McCain made a good choice in Palin who is the Governor of Alaska. Obama and Joe never ran anything in their lifetime. Obama’s run for the senate the first time was a loss to Bobby Rush leader of the Black Panther’s. How people can vote for radical’s to be in politics is amazing. That’s like voting Ayer’s to become Mayor of Chicago.

JoeShmoe, I can tell she is a racist. It bleeds through her postings where it screams she is an old washed up racist and fears that white power is no longer the rule of the land.
But, she will have to deal with the fact that our next first lady will be a beautiful and warm lady who’s skin is darker then hers.
And a brilliant and thoughtful and gifted president who’s skin is darker then hers.

JoeShmoe: And you will shoot yourself if McCain wins the election because you won’t be able to stand for a white man becoming president again. Get use to it. Its going to happen. For your information dumbhead who don’t know how to read, Obama’s father was part Kenyan and Arab. Obama was taking lessons as a Muslim before his mother took him back to Hawaii where he wasn’t born. You lack the education to understand politics like Obama. You and him should both start school over.

“…I only got a dollar out of the $20,”declared the sixth man. He pointed to the tenth man,” but he got $10!…”
The problem with this example is that it assumes that everyone but the rich guy suddenly forgets that they’re paying in accordance with progressive taxes. In real life if the 6th guy complained he saved a dollar, the 7th guy would remind him that he didn’t pay that much in the first place and that he received twice the percentage of discount that the rich guy did. Not to mention that the guys who didn’t pay anything would know to keep their mouths shut.
If this were a true example, the rich guy would complain that everyone should pay the same amount, no matter how little they have, and the story would end with him drinking by himself.

Exactly. Some 146 kids were killed in street violence in Chicago in one year… I have close friends in Chicago who are painting the “real” picture of what Obama, Ayers & Co. have accomplished with their… “community organizing” efforts (their “radical” education efforts to be exact).
Obama has blindfolded many American people and the sheep are following him like the herds of sheep that followed Carl Marx, Lenin, Stalin, and all other “Saviors of the Poor” before That One.
Well, this country will NOT allow Obama to destroy it with his new edition of the Communist Manifesto. Oh! I know…he calls it “Change We Need”.

Not to ObamaOsamaHussein’s voter’s like Oprah, Pelosi and Reid because they have big plans for Obama in the white house. And guess who is coming to dinner. Farrakhan, Wright, Ayers, Father P and the buddy he abandoned Rezko. Rezko paid part of Obama’s house then Obama abandoned him because he went to jail. The three men who wanted to shoot Obama were put up to it maybe by friends of Rezko.

MCcain is Obama and Obama is McCain. they are interchangeable parts. if obama was republican and McCain a dem each side would have the same talking points about the other, just in reverse. Put theur party affiliations aside and look at the issues. They are the sam. duh. Its all about bigger government. look at each of their plans and try to find where either will do anything but that.

I listened to one of the FBI men who stated they turned in all the paperwork on Ayers. He should have spent life in prison along with his radical wife Bernadine. Its a shame that either party will allow such tactics this late in the process. Obama should be held accountable for supplying these records. that said since when are politicians honest with its people??? how about never. Its only a matter of time before they become corrupted. The difference, a very well run campaign by Obama supported by capable advisers and staff vs. a poorly run campaign without focus. McCain depth is to portray the sound bites of the previous day and simply, in the Republican Karl Rove fashion, twist the facts, use negativity wanting to tear down the opponent and supported by a very weak group of advisers and spokespersons who relay on hostile talking points. The VP choices, Obama with Biden looked ahead to govern, McCain with Palin sought to get elected. The polls reveal what the voter’s desire.

Oh no! Not so fast my dear… I can always jumb ship and move the business to Eastern Europe. Our country is setting some beautiful military bases over there…Europe is turning to CAPITALISM (the Consrvative Right os on the rise – France, Germany, the Baltics, etc) as fast as America will be turning to SOCIALISM if Obama is elected.
So-
What will Obama gain if many companies choose to go to Europe or Asia? I will try to stick it our as much as I can but because I feel for my employees and their families. But I will refuse to turn into a non profit organization supporting Marxist Obama’s “distribution of wealth”. I am a generous person and certainly I contribute my fair share to those in need. But I refuse accept Obama telling free people how much money they shoud or they should not have. I will not support Obama’s “spending spree” using my hard earned money. Obama did not help me establish my business – I will be darn if I have him get one more tax dollar – especially because of the way he is going about it – the arrogant closet Marxist!
The Europeans are already laughing at the idea that at a time that they are moving to the Conservative right – CAPITALISM – after decades of failed Socialism and Communism – WE AMERICANS are about to enbrace Obama’s American Experiment on SOCIALISM/COMMUNISM.
It is truly sad to watch this unfolding… perhaps the biggest mistake in our country’s history…one that can destroy America … or result in the Chinese “bying our America”
I truly doubt if 90% of the country even understands global geopolitical issues enough to understans on hiw vulnerable our country will be under a President that everyday exhibits his Radical/Socialist/Communist political ideology.
Sorry Obama – you can put lipstick on the pig (your tax/economic plan) but it is what its is:

I can’t wait for this to end soo badly for the American people. we deserve this. when has life been fair for any of us. Life is harsh, period. when they both talk about making things easier for the struggling, they enable the lazy to expoit the system. the rich are no exception. it is true that the middle class is the back bone of this country. However the rich are the only ones that can run for political office. when push comes to shove, which of us is willing to give up what they earn? we are all selfish in that aspect. McCain or Obama is not the answer. both want to acheive the same thing. Sad. its pethetic to beleie that your life will be better of with either.

Omentum….I do hope your state turns blue and as liberal as my state of Mass. Let me tell you what you will have to look forward to…Lets see Free health, dental and eyecare through Mass. hHalth. Very easy to con and lie even if you are working. Very easy to collect Welfare even illegals ,if you are collecting for children. No residency proof needed you can move right into Mass. and immediately start collecting. Even California has a law you have to prove residency for a year to qualify. Total apathy of State Welfare they don’t care anymore they just let everything ride plus they believe these people have more rights than you.If you are amother collecting welfare you don’t even have to tell if anyone(boyfriend) is living with you. Thats an invasion of privacy. Yet I have to fill out census report and list family memebrs. Signs put up in Florida and New York bus stops telling people to move to Mass. for the housing. I’m running down to my bus stop and putting up signs that Virginia has turned blue and directing them to your state. My only consolation in an Obama Presidency is he wants to spread the wealth around and with this I am assuming the whole country will have to start sharing the responsibility of taking care of the less fortunate. This will be wonderful for Massachusett, other states will have to quit sending everyone here to live and will have to start caring because you’ll all be liberal blue states……..And I am sure will want to take care of your own. Actually as I explain this to you I’m beginning to think Obama just may be what Massachusetts needs. But there still is that issue of National Security. And I am not sure I want a “tested” Obama.

We all know that Obama wasn’t a community organizer for the people on the southside of Chicago and he was never a Law Professor as stated. Your problem is you don’t want to hear the truth about Obama you would rather people build him up to be a good citizen. Not so. He was never a true American from a younger age. Whatever happened with that investigation for paying her husband with PAC money???!!!
Oh! I see…the media dropped Pelosi’s $99,000 for her husband and they are digging into the $150,000 that Sarah spent for her campaign associated personal expenses! Hmmm, has anybody told us whre Nancy Pelosi gets her haircuts and how much they cost? It would be nice to know! More than likely, she charged it as a “campaign expense”! (after all she was…campaining for “God’s Gift to America – her Barack Obama!)

Marianne,
You’re done, bye bye, no more.
Sour grapes lady. sour grapes. You have nothing, it’s all gone. No one believes you, no one will miss you, and you will not be found on Nov. 5th.
America can only get better, the republicans have ran this ship so far a ground, that anything will be an improvement.

McBush: Yes, your are so right, Obama is a Negro but not fully. He really is a Mulatto but of course the blacks are insulted by that name. Obama wants to be all black so bad he can taste it. Now he is going to see his typical white grandmother who he threw under the bus last year. And for your information his grandmother was mad at his mother for marrying a black man. However, after she died his grandmother raised him and put him thru Harvard college. He never really worked in his life for what he has because Rezko paid for part of his house and the rest of the money he probably got from Ayers.

Independent Realist. Tell me about it when we go into a deep depression or we have another attack by Al Qaeda with Obama running out of the white house hiding in the bushes somewhere leaving Biden and Powell to get blown up. You need an education on politics. Look back in history and read about past presiden’t. Obama is no Bill Clinton and he should try to walk in his own shoes instead of the shoes of MLK. And he trys to sound like MLK when he is on the platform. The difference is MLK was intelligent.

And don’t tell me he didn’t know better than that. Obama disliked his own mother’s race as a young boy. Why do you think he joined that church to begin with and even had his daughter’s baptized there. Michelle belonged to a racist organization before she married Obama and is just starting to like America now? Who’s kidding who.

Darling, you are missing the big picture – that is the Europe of ysterday, which is fast dissapaearing! Yes, Socialist Europe as you know it is turning CAPITALST – and CONSERVATIVE RIGHT faster than you can blink…Read my comment again. See how at least 3 of our major European allies (France, Germany, Italy) all 3 have brought to power the most right wing conservatives since practically WWII!
Look at the Baltics…Do they appear to you to be turning Socialists?!
The Baltics like to call themselves “Tha United States of Baltics”… they love CAPITALISM and with America’s presence/military support in the Balcans/Baltics, I doubt that things will look more “American style Capitalism” there than in our own country!
I ravel to Europe often enough to know how the “socioeconomic” environment is…Trust me, business are making money over there also – and the EU umbrella – their economic development packages (especially to Eastern Europe) are presenting great opportunity once the global markets calm down.
Mind you, that many American companies, conractors, etc. have already set up shop there, especially in the Balkans – they are the most lucrative market in Europe right now. Of course, that is because they are free of the freaking Communists and are marxhing fast toward CAPITALISM! We are the ones that are about to move backwards (SOCIALISM) and our friends and allies in Europe are simply “stunned”!

I have been a voting Republican since 1971. This time last year, I was supporting John McCain. What I have witnessed in the interim not only changed my mind, the thought that this guy might actually become our Commander-in-Chief literally scares me. His simple minded rhetoric on Iraq (“the key to our victory in the Middle East”), and this recent glib commentary reminding us that he was sitting in his jet fighter in 1962, ready to bomb Cuba, continues to reinforce my belief that he lacks the very qualities we need most in a CIC, patience, prudence, and the ability to think through complex risk scenarios before committing this nation to a military solution.
Equally disturbing is his seeming obliviousness to the fact that we’re already on a collision course with Russia over our expressed intention to install defensive missile batteries in Poland. While McCain was, once again, posturing as the seasoned and battle tested leader (although there is no actual substance to that claim), Senator Obama already convened a summit of his entire team of national security advisers (two days ago) for the express purpose of preparing for the multiple real-world threats he will face if he is elected. It’s yet another example of a pattern he’s demonstrated consistently throughout this campaign: a guy who anticipates problems and therefore always seems prepared when they crop up suddenly.
In contrast, McCain has repeatedly demonstrated his tendency to shoot from the hip, even on a matter as important as selecting his running mate. We already know how Colin Powell feels on the issue of McCain’s temperament, and I’d bet my right arm that General Petraeus feels the same way, although he’s in no position to say so.
At least George W. Bush knew his own limits in his role as Commander in Chief. McCain seems desperate to prove to all of us that he has none. While he ridicules Joe Biden’s remarks about a potential test of the next President, the fact is, we already face a critical policy decision which might actually lead to a confrontation with Russia over our commitments to Poland. If it came to that, John McCain is the last guy I want to see with his finger on the nuclear button.

Yeah, nice try by the Chicago Tribune!
Check this out – also published in the Chicago Tribune…they are getting blasted right and left – left and right…this is just one example.
Problems with endorsing Obama
October 21, 2008
My, my. In their dumbfounding endorsement of Barack Obama, it seems to me that members of the Tribune’s editorial board must not have first read some pages in their own paper. Obama’s negatives have been cited ad nauseam, so I won’t repeat all of them. But there are some downsides in his candidacy that were not addressed in the unpersuasive endorsement statement, and they are a big deal to me. They include:
• The senator is a radical socialist with stated preferences for the Marxist notion of redistributing the wealth. Does the editorial board want the U.S. to morph into the socialist model of a dying Europe? Does it want our culture destroyed?
• With the likely veto-proof Democrat majority in Congress, a President Obama will have the opportunity to name justices to the U.S. Supreme Court. Is it the desire of the editorial board to have a leftist majority on that bench to creatively rewrite the Constitution and restructure society without regard to what citizens may think?
• Much closer to home, the editorial board has observed the wonderful things that happen in Illinois when one party controls Chicago, Cook County and the state. Does the editorial board want the entire nation governed as miserably as is Illinois with Democrats controlling the White House, Congress and the judiciary?
I don’t advocate any of these destructive directions for our country.

Socialism is the cause of tens of millions of innocent deaths and misery beyond compare in the last 100 years.
Only a clueless moron believes socialism to have any redeeming feature. And usually that clueless moron thinks he is educated. Socialism only works on paper, in the real world it kills and enslaves people every time it is tried.

Palin spent more on clothing in the past two months than Joe the Plumber will make in three years. Hypocrisy (or the state of being a hypocrite) is the act of preaching a certain belief, religion or way of life, but not, in fact, holding these same virtues oneself. Published: Sunday, October 19, 2008 3:00 AM CDT
“A spectre is haunting Europe — the spectre of Communism.”
With those words, Karl Marx launched a revolution with “The Communist Manifesto.” Interestingly, the opening of his essay, cowritten with Friedrich Engels, begins with the assertion that the European powers are using the “branding reproach of Communism” to label their opponents. Marx then says, “It is high time the communists should openly, in the face of the whole world, publish their views, their aims, their tendencies, and meet this nursery tale of the spectre of Communism with a Manifesto of the party itself.”
If Marx were alive today and living in San Francisco, perhaps he would have instead written this: “A spectre is haunting Democratic politics — the spectre of socialism.” Certainly, the “branding reproach of socialism” is now publicly acknowledged to have been used against the Democratic Party, and against its standard bearer, Barack Obama. It is high time for Obama and his allies to publicly assert their political and economic philosophy. If it is socialism, say so. If it is not, please explain why.
This, of course, is made immediately relevant by Obama’s famous comment to Joe the Plumber that, “I think when you spread the wealth around, it’s good for everybody.” In particular he was talking about his tax plan, which is a plan for redistribution of wealth from top to bottom.
This is a matter of fact. When Obama tells you that his tax plan will benefit 95 percent of taxpayers, he is misstating the truth. The fact is that 30 to 40 percent of Americans, the poorest among us, already don’t pay any taxes. But what Obama’s plan will do is allow them to sign up for a variety of tax credits, so the government will send them a check for a couple thousand dollars or more every year. Where does the money come from to make those payments? From Americans who do pay taxes. It literally is redistribution of wealth. Instead of using taxes to pay for the necessities of infrastructure and defense that they were intended for, the government as envisioned by Obama will be “spreading the wealth around.”
The question is whether Americans care. And if they don’t, why not?
Ask yourself, why did we spend 50 years after World War II fighting a Cold War to eliminate communism if we actually believe in it? Is this nation actually prepared to admit we were wrong, and Karl Marx was right? Marx’s credo, “From each according to his ability; to each according to his need,” has a nice ring. It can easily be seen as an institutionalized form of Christian charity — providing for the less able, or the less advantaged. But look at the results of communism and socialism in Europe, and you will quickly conclude that any philosophical niceties are vastly outweighed by the political realities.
When you look at Marx’s list of goals for communism in chapter two of “The Communist Manifesto” (www.marxists.org/archive/marx/works/1848/communist-manifesto/ch02.htm), you can see that socialism has already made great advances in the United States. But in particular pay attention to No. 2 — “A heavy progressive or graduated income tax.”
In this regard, Obama has outdone Marx himself. A progressive tax just puts a greater share of the burden on the rich. We already have long since had such a tax. But now Obama wants to find a way to hand out money to the poor. Is it any wonder that he is ahead in the polls?
As Ben Franklin reputedly said, “When the people find they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic.”

The history of socialism:
Mao Tse Tung = 72 million murdered
Stalin = 40 million murdered
Pol Pot = 3 million murdered
North Korea = 1 million murdered
etc, etc
And the worlds first socialist was also the worlds first terrorist = Robespierre
Robespierre killed thousands of his fellow countrymen in the name of the people, socialism and every other ‘ism’ he could think of. This educated elite “egghead” justified his terror with the same style and flourish you do ‘LiberT’.
It is so compforting to know that history truly does repeat itself when left to ‘eggheads’ such as yourself.
I expect you’ll be the head of the first ‘reeducation’ camps.

Yous guys reciting the tired mantra that the only poll that counts is the one on Nov. 4th overlook the facts (as usual): voting has already started in many states and Obama leads there as well. Time for McClown to move to Del Boca Vista and Caribou Barbie to go back to shopping in the Wasila Walmart.

Helpful Hint to Natasha: The longer the posting, the less you have to say and the fewer people to read it.

I just heard great news! The democrats are going to make the republican party illegal. They are also going to start rounding up the republican leaders and put them on trial for anti-american activities.
Get real republicans. it’s over, and there is nothing you can say or do to change the direction the country is going in. America is not afraid anymore! Fear mongering does not work anymore! We are voting for Obama, and he ill repair the damage that the republicans have caused!
President Obama! Get used to it!

Joe the Plumber is going to finally pay his tax lien off from 2007-(he seems to be a deadbeat)- He is going to auction Sara Palin’s clothes on E-Bay and pay off those taxes!! With the rest he will buy a real business not one in his head and he won’t have to work for McCain anymore. Palin says she likes the idea but McCain does not. Joe was a ‘Plant” and McCain wants to get his money’s worth.

I heard Joe the plumber is going to get a license and pay his lien and no longer be a deadbeat-he is going to auction off Palins’s clothes ($150000.00 worth) and sell them on Ebay and make lots of money. After his taxes are paid he will buy a real business(not just the one in his head)- Palin thinks it’s great, but McCain does not. He knows Joe(Samuel) is a “plant” aand McCain wants his money’s worth.

Poor McSame. All those lies he keep (you know like the demokrats will increase yor axes;as if repeating it over and over makesit true).Since all the jello he trow is not sticking to the wall. Perhaps he should try calling Obama a secret Jew. I heard it worked in a campaign in Germany in 1935 and recently in Poland. The repubs can dig up a photo of him in a yarmulke and point out how similar “Barack” is to “Ehud Barak”.
