‘The Sarah Palin Show’

This debate, of course, is Sarah Palin vs. Joe Biden — but does anyone really care about the latter half of that equation?

This is Palin’s night, for better or worse. Biden’s charge is, essentially, not to make news: If he is the headline tomorrow, it’s almost certainly because he said something ridiculous/condescending/very wrong.

My colleague from ABC News Radio, Aaron Katersky, is spending the debate with a focus group of voters in Akron, Ohio. A few comments from voters there tell the story:

Said one: “It’s the only thing I want to see in this debate. It’s the Sarah Palin show. Joe Biden can say whatever he wants — it doesn’t matter.”

Said another: “There’s absolutely zero interest on my part to sit there and listen to the issues and their answers to the issues. I don’t care. I’m going to crack a beer and I’m going to sit and wait for her to mess up.”

I don’t think I will be able to watch the whole debate. Palin speaking reminds of scratching a blackboard with nails. It is not her midwestern accent, it is all of the stupid things that come out of her mouth. She is corrupt and lies out of both sides of her mouth.
Even if she present herself in a better matter tonight, she is what she is.

Sarah will wipe the floor with Bye Bye Biden!

Funny that ABC already has people lined up to talk trash about Palin before the debate even starts. One does not care what Biden says, one wants to drink beer and hope and pray she makes a mistake. What a joke! It does not matter if Palin kicks Bidens butt tonight, ABC/MSNBC/CBS and the rest will make it look as if she lost! Have you guys from the liberal media realized that FOX NEWS had 13 of 15 top news shows? Why, because they are fair and balanced and the american people realize that! I hope Biden slips up so bad tonight I want to see the liberal media try and cover for him! It si becoming a joke watching their coverage of this election!

I’m glad Gwen Ifill is the moderator. This will work in Palin’s favor. America knows that Ifill in in the tank for the idiot Obama, and it will be Ifill, who has to watch what she says and does. Anything close to showing favoritism to the idiot Obama, will be good for the GOP. And, watching Ifill in the past, its hard for her to conceal what she really feels. Palin will destroy Biden the Liar and McCain will be the next President of the United States. Obama Bin Lyin is done for!
McCain/Palin 08!
“COUNTRY FIRST!”

thanks to the sarah haters, you have lowered the bar so low for sarah that all she has to do it not trip on her way up the stage to win. thank you fools.

Posted by: colorado | October 2, 2008, 4:44 pm 4:44 pm

Palin will easily win the debate.
She is the master of fluff. She will ramble and talk about Americans.
In interviews, she has to answer specific questions. When she starts rambling about other details, the interviewer has asked for specifics. That won’t happen in the debate.
She called an expert in oil, but doesn’t what percentage of America’s oil is provided by Alaska.
Again, she will dodge details tonight. When in doubt, she will continue the Bush policy of attacking.
Americans have fallen for this over and over again. (Only 2 Democratic presidents in the last 40 years).
Palin has been taught by the best smoke blowers ever. Nothing will change and Palin will easily win this debate.

I don’t want “Joe Six-Pack” to be our next President. Do you?

Posted by: bonnie | October 2, 2008, 4:46 pm 4:46 pm

The bar is set as low as it can go for Palin. She basically has to show up, spew a couple pre-rehersed sarcastic remarks, and it’s a “good night”.
No one is listening for issues. They’re just watching to see if she can keep from screwing up.
Actually, if she doesn’t knock the podium over, it’ll be a “good night” for Palin. The lemmings who believe she is in some way ready to lead will be cheering. It’s a shame the standards are so low now.
Never-the-less, we know the truth already.
PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA
Get used to it!

Not so fast Danny boy.. According to your liberal media friends the past two weeks Palin is a piece of crap! Now the night of the debate they are trying to say she is going to do well? Already trying to cover for Biden before the debate even starts? No one of the liberal media has brought the attention to Mr. Bidens mistakes over the past few weeks TV in 1929? God if Palin would have said that it would have been front page news in the NY Times, and Keith Olberman or better yet Doberman would have devoted his whole show to it! Give me a break!

Posted by: chuck | October 2, 2008, 4:50 pm 4:50 pm

I liked Hillary. But there would be no Palin if Hillary was chosen. She was picked because Hillary wasn’t.
Even Karl Rove said Palin wasn’t picked based on credentials or experience.
No matter what the Pubs want to believe, Plain will end up being the Dems MVP before it’s all over. She will drag down the ticket.
Americans will look at the elder McCain and then look at Palin. Sixty percent of Americans don’t think Palin is qualified for the job. That, and her extreme right wing view of the world, should be enough.

Posted by: No Six Pack VP! | October 2, 2008, 4:53 pm 4:53 pm

Palin is the best thing that has happened to Democratics – anytime she opens her mouth she will show what she is – which is nothing. I am wondering will the debate really last for 90 minutes? I mean we already know what Sarah knows … which is nothing

Posted by: Proud American | October 2, 2008, 4:53 pm 4:53 pm

Well, what kind of focus group is that? ‘Crack open a beer … and wait for her to mess up’?!? Where’s it being held? Moe’s Tavern?

Posted by: mary | October 2, 2008, 4:54 pm 4:54 pm

Wow…..Palin must be a Superwoman..A child that needs her constantly, a grandbaby, a son in the military, plus 2 others…Gov. of Alaska and a wife..when will she find time to go to the bathroom much less run a country..The United States of America needs a leader not Suzy Homemaker…

share your concern with the media who has conducted a witch hunt against sarah and focused on issues like endless rumors regarding her baby instead of focusing the interview questions on issues that are of concern.
joe is a draft dodger he knows how to dodge the issues that matter as well.

How sad to see the state of this country – people waiting for someone to mess up. Well, that’s the way Obama’s campaign has gone, and it’s the future of our country if he wins this election, folks.
So much for “land of the free and home of the brave.” Maybe we should get ready for it to be changed to, “Think and say like I say you should or you’re a racist or an idiot (or both).”

The Pubs have so much confidence in Plain they requested the debate be shortened (note: they requested this after the Couric interview)
Guess they could only fill her head with so many one-liners and generalities.

Hey Great Logic, suggest you read the post I said Liberal Media.. Why dont you watch Fox News you might be surprised there is more going on in this world! Maybe that is why Fox has 13 of the top 15 news shows!

Posted by: chuck | October 2, 2008, 5:02 pm 5:02 pm

Lakisha regarding your ‘mom responsibility statement’ regarding sarah. i don’t remember joe biden being asked the same questions when he left his young son’s bedside immediately after the death of their mother and siblings to go off and pursue his career. oh but that only applies to a woman right? unlike joe sarah has a loving supportive spouse, older siblings, and a HUGE loving extended family.

Posted by: colorado | October 2, 2008, 5:03 pm 5:03 pm

It really doesn’t matter anymore. She is to far gone. Any educated person knows that all she has been doing is cramming on certain issues. After the debate is over do you really think she is going to remember anything? I highly doubt it. It’s like college (or in her case colleges) all over again. I hope she stays…Saturday Night Live is funny again.

————————-
The only “media” that covered that rumor was the national enquirer. Is that what you call the “liberal” media????
No one cares about her disfunctional family. We care that she thinks that Vice President of the United States is an internship, a learn-as-you-go position. She feels she is qualified for the job when she is obviously not.
Face it, the BS shoveled out at the GOP convention was a fabrication. She READ one sarcastic speech. That’s it.
That’s not to say she can’t one day be prepared to take the national stage, but McCain and company used her for political reasons. She was not chosen based on her ability and she is not ready to lead.
I’d personally never vote for her because of her radical right wing views.

Posted by: But she's just so "likeable" | October 2, 2008, 5:12 pm 5:12 pm

Chuck, I do watch FOX for a laugh.
They’re certainly not “biased” right? Hannity, Colmes, Rove, the talking head GOP cheerleaders…nah not them. They’re so un-biased. They even have to tell you that every hour so you know. Hahahaha.
Get a life man. If you think every other media source in America is biased other than FOX (which has ALWAYS been right wing media)then go back to FOX and hear what you want to hear.
Biden has given 100′s of talks and interviews. He’s been around for a couple decades. So when he makes a gaffe, it’s not a big deal. We know HIS qualifications.
Palin has only spoken without a script twice! (Hannity was more like an infomercial than an interview) She’s only been known to anyone for a few WEEKS. So what she says is more notable.
I could go on, but it doesn’t matter. Some people will see what they want to see regardless of the truth. You’re the same folks who supported Bush – twice.

Posted by: Great Logic | October 2, 2008, 5:23 pm 5:23 pm

Biden is screwed. He won’t be able to twitch without someone from somewhere screaming in outrage for some perceived slight. Pull out her chair? He’s patronizing. Don’t pull out a chair? He’s a pig. A smile will be twisted by someone into a snear. A blank face will be considered aloof. I’m tellin ya – it’s getting crazy. Palin will be very pretty and most likely snotty (which some will think is fiesty).

Meet the Press Interview:
TIM RUSSERT: The fact is you are different than George Bush.
SEN. McCAIN: No. No. The fact is that I have agreed with President Bush far more than I have disagreed. And on the transcendent issues, the most important issues of our day, I’ve been totally in agreement and support of President Bush.

They let the ugly angry Michelle out today in MI…..trying to drum up voter registration. They must not be keeping her under wraps anymore. I really want to see her get uglier and angrier by NOT getting near the WH. Then she can go around and say “see, I told you I had no reason to be proud of my country and that this is a mean place”.
HILLARY ROCKED, PALIN ROCKS…..and I’m not waiting another 24 years to see a woman move ahead in our backwards country. All around the world, there are women in top positions, Presidents, Prime ministers, etc…..and I would have voted McCain anyway….it’s just nicer to have Palin on the ticket. Hillary and Bill will vote for them in the privacy of the booth too.

Colorado, I think Sarah Palin is shockingly unqualified to be vice-president — but I agree wholeheartedly with your post in response to Lakisha.
Gov. Palin’s domestic affairs are none of our business. You are sadly correct in saying that no one ever asks how a male candidate will handle his job and his family obligations. The only question should be: Can this person do the job?
However, it is ironic that Republicans and social conservatives express outrage whenever someone raises family issues in regard to Gov. Palin. Many of them raised those issues during confirmation hearings for two of President Clinton’s attorney general nominees, Zoe Baird and Kimba Wood.
It’s wrong now, and it was just as wrong then.

I guess we see where Palin stands.

Hate to tell you, but the “genius” to which you refer is George Bush -REPUBLICAN.
The “genius” to which you refer are the proponents of deregulation – people like JOHN McCAIN. Who has been a deregulation champion for 26 years!

Posted by: bobbysingleton | October 2, 2008, 6:51 pm 6:51 pm

I think we all know why the McCain camp insisted that the responses from the candidates be limited to no more than 90 seconds each and that there can be no communication back and forth between the 2 candidates.
It is hard to understand why anybody would think it would be a good thing to have these two sissies in the white house.
