USA Today/Gallup Poll: Debate Boosted Obama, Not McCain
USAToday’s ‘On Politics‘ Blog reports: Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama convinced many more viewers to think more favorably of him during Tuesday night’s presidential debate than did his Republican opponent, John McCain, a new USA Today/Gallup Poll signals.
While 53% of the 735 people surveyed said their opinions of Obama had not changed, 34% said they thought more favorably of him and 12% viewed him less favorably. All 735 said they had watched the debate.
The reactions to McCain were almost mirror opposites: 54% said their opinions about him had not changed, 33% felt less favorable and 12% felt more favorable.
The poll also shows that among those surveyed, 56% thought Obama did the "better job" at the debate, to 23% who said that about McCain. Fifteen percent said the candidates’ performances were "equal."
The national telephone survey was done last night (Oct. 8). Gallup says the margin of error is +/- 4 percentage points.

Unfortunately McCain and Palin are at a hateful extreme.
Most Americans are rational, kind and, quite frankly, positive people.
McCain and Pain are very dark.

I always liked John McCain until he endorsed George Bush in 2004. He didn’t have to endorse, but he wanted to appease the extreme right of his party. I think his campaign has reflected those same personal compromises and makes McCain seem less like a maverick and more like a politician. I think people see that in his debate performances as well.

But I have found over the last 60 years that those racists are generally ones without much education, most with below average IQ’s and in general just plain losers. My Friends,
With every passing day, I find myself falling deeper into the political abyss of being insignificant.
During the first debate, I was so intimidated by “That One” that I couldn’t look into his eyes.
Although I released my trained parrot with redundant talking points, I attacked him good, which brought smiles to the most uneducated of Americans. I couldn’t wait for the second debate.
During the second debate, I tried to crack a few “senior” jokes that didn’t connect and after talking all malarky days previous, I just couldn’t say any of that to “That One’s” face.
My friends, with every passing day, I’m falling deeper and deeper into a hole that I personally dug myself, and “That One” has opened up a can of Chicago Whoop A** on me that I will never forget.
Got Any Buttermilk? This is going to be a landslide.

Zogby is the worst poller out there.. he had Obama up double digits in the California primary when it was actually the opposite. He had Kerry up past the margin of error going into Election Day 2004..
Basically… whatever figure Zogby gives you.. is completely wrong. So when he says Obama and McCain are neck and neck, it actually confirms 95% of the other polls that have Obama well out in front.

I’m an Obama supporter, but I would have to admit that I previously respected and admired McCain for his individualism and integrity. It seems like it’s all gone out the window with his choice of Palin. And, his campaign is being run very, very poorly. They have not served him well at all. The quality of his economic advisor team frankly stinks. Gramm, Fiorina, and company don’t seem to have a clue and have promulgated ideas that are frankly ridiculous, given the present circumstances. There’s no comparison between them and Volker, Summers, Buffett, etc. That’s the difference.

No they’re not.
If you’re talking nationally, only a couple are, and most show a slight Obama lead outside the margin of error.
If you’re talking state by state, the only states polling consistently within the margin of error are Ohio, North Carolina, Missouri and Florida. Well, and maybe Virginia, too, though I’ve seen a couple showing an Obama lead just outside the margin there.
Colorado and Nevada had been consistently within the margin of error, but Obama seems to have pulled just above it lately.
Indiana might be falling into the margin of error.
But you’re point that it only counts on election day is a good one.

They’re like a hooked fish flopping in mid air trying to keep what little air they have left to stay alive.
The world is in a crisis and currently, McCain is showing America just how he reacts during this crisis. He resorting to old tricks and calling Americans prisoners and offers no real solutions. Thus, HE AND PALIN are showing us a lack of ethics and no leadership. Just lip service on how Americans are first!

The only way McCain/Palin has any chance of winning is that voters will suffer from having their votes stolen, not counted, or declared not qualified to vote. Since African-Americans were given the right to vote, there has been a movement to discount their vote and it has spilled over to other groups as well. I don’t think this will happen again. The Democrats has done their homework and will block any attempts for this type of behavior. I do believe Obama will win big. People who say they will vote for McCain is saying it with clinched teeth. McCain/Palin is not a favorable choice for the Republicans. There will be people that will tell their friends that they will never vote for Obama because he’s black. But once they’re in the voting booth, they will pull the lever for Obama. It’s the opposite of the “Bradley Effect”.
Posted by: LF | October 9, 2008, 1:43 pm 1:43 pm
Polls don’t take into account that people have a split mind when judging someone like Obama. Although most people who watch him will agree he is more “presidential” than McCain, their judgment on election day is dominated by emotions, not reason. The most powerful emotion here results from the idea that a black man will be their boss and a black family will represent their country.
The Stanford-Yahoo study shows that Obama has at least a 6% handicap for being black. This means his standing in the polls must then by at least 6% above McCain’s just for Obama to break even. This startling fact, which is based on the only scientific analysis of the Bradley effect, is ignored by polls and those who analyze them.
Unless things change dramatically in Obama’s favor to give him the buffer he needs – very unlikely at this state – McCain is headed for victory.
Posted by: Domingo Tavella | October 9, 2008, 1:45 pm 1:45 pm
During the beginning of the debate, I noticed that McCain was breathing heavily into the microphone, he sounded winded. It seemed like he was both exhausted from pacing a few steps and nervous, even with all his experience, nervous since he was expected to have to put on the performance of his lifetime to change the tides. I think it really showed his age and questionable health. And this is an extremely important point considering that his VP pick is so unqualified to be president. McCain’s age and health should be more of a concern, this debate proved that point.
Needless to say, Obama was far more impressive than McCain, again. Its kind of hard to consider a ‘top of the class Ivy League Law School graduate’ a fair match for a ‘bottom of the class Military Academy graduate’ in terms of a debate. Obama came off as just plain smarter and more capable. Its no wonder McCain’s chances are slipping away.

Americans don’t want answers, direction, or leadership, they want smears and accusations. That will win the election. Keep it up!
Survey showed last week Obama ran 36% negative ads, McCain 100% !!!!
Certainly Americans want a grumpy old man and a sarcastic parrot running our country right?

Obama still up by 11% in the latest Gallup. Another new Virgina poll has Obama up by 8%. Here is the most striking poll result from Virgina…Sarah Palin now has a negative 9 favorability rating..and even more striking in a new Florida poll of folks over 60 years old…they now favor Obama by 49% to 42%. Altough there is still time for dirty politics from the McCain camp he will have to start focusing his resources just to stay even in the Red states…He is campaigning in PA where he is down by 12% on average, more than Michigan…he will have to throw in the towel for PA once Palin gets booed tonight at the Flyers game.

Repugs are counting on the racist element in us to ignore the polls.
I agree it is there but predominantly among old geezers.
The younger voters who are not considered in these polls will provide s counter balance to the racist old geezer effect.
Angry Old McNasty is toast.

In the presidential campaign, Senator Obama’s support pre-Wall Street collapse was more than 45% and afterwards, 51% (and growing). No matter what, Obama has huge support from highly diverse population segments around the country regardless of income, ethnic background, education, sex, religion, political persuasion. This is not so of the more homogenous McCain.
The big growth has come from electoral college votes, pre-Wallstreet collapse from 220 (blue in the bucket) to 264+(blue in the bucket). Number of battleground states have increased and most of these are “red” states. 270 votes are needed to win the presidency. Senator Obama right now has the easy potential to bring in >380 electoral votes which would be a landslide VICTORY and over 200 votes above McCain. And yes, Senator Obama can say the word “victory”.

Look at all the idiotic comments from the rural redneck republicans. How classic. ‘the Obama’s should go back to Africa’? Seriously? I think it’s funny how ignorant and uneducated all the backwoods republicans are. You guys have some great schools in your state. Look at all the genius’s in Mississippi, Alabama, Alaska, Texas etc..hahahahahahaha. A bunch of brainwashed, prejudice backwoods hicks that barely made it through their locak heehaw town’s high school. Too funny. The fact is that us white educated citizens from liberal areas, which have the best schools and smartest people, like NY, CA, Washington St. and New England, are heavily for Obama. You redneck hicks are for whatever your pastor beat into your little brains when you were a kid. Go watch some Jeff Foxworthy, and enjoy making your $8 an hour for the rest of your lives you stupid, manipulated hicks.

The poise and calm of Obama outshined the eratic demeanor of McCain.
Face it. McCain is a grumpy old man with a bad temper. Not good qualities for a President.
And caribou barbie has only shown she can read sarcastic insults. That’s all she’s done.

President George Walker Bush & Associates must be held to answer in formal proceedings in 2009. This is not an option. The decline of our country will continue if this current Administration is not held accountable for it’s actions. Obama must lead the way by appointing a Commission to investigate this cancer on the American Soul within the first year of His Presidency. The horror of Iraq was not an accident.

If you want to mention Gore and Kerry’s leads one month before Nov. 4 to reason why John McCain can still win, did Bush start withdrawing his campaign from battle-ground states like Michigan? And falter 4 points behind the democrat in a ‘red’ state like Virginia? Gore and Kerry were stiffs. Obama’s the real deal. Get used to it, he’s going to be around for 8 years.

I am voting for Senators Obama and Biden, the democratic ticket.
I am a 52yr old working mother who owns her own small business. I come from a multi-generation family of farmers who were part of the western pioneer movement. We are a family of strong women and I’m the first to go to college.
Contrary to silly posts here, I am an American (my family has been here and fought in every war and voted from Republican to Democrat. We voted for Lincoln and FDR). We are Americans who believe in the constitution and its promise. My family and I aren’t socialists (people who post here don’t use this antiquated term correctly). My family and I have a variety of educational levels, religious beliefs, and income levels all over the map. I have people in my history who were bigots and KKK members and people who protested both the Vietnam and Iraq wars. We are a mixed bunch and now I have three generations who are voting for Senators Obama and Biden. We are voting for them because they have a better plan, better policies and better and wiser people around them. They are a mixture of democratic idealism and pragmatism (just like us!). We are voting for them because they are wiser with better character and with the skills to lead, unite, and inspire our nation and the world. We love this country and its dream, but the last 8 yrs have trampled that for all but the few. We vote for these two with affirmation. It is a vote in reality for ourselves as well as our bigger family.

I am an independent voter and before this economic fall out, I was leaning towards Mr. McCain but after watching the two debates and watching how McCain camp desperately is trying to close the gap by bringing up unimportant issues. Obama was eight years old when Ayers did all those things. And please talk about the Economy not something that happened 40 yrs ago. If it was that important how come neither McCain or Palin brought this issue up in their debates. AND WHY NOT BRING THIS ISSUE UP DURING THE DEBATES? IF THEY HAD THE CONFIDENCE THAT THIS ISSUE MATTERS?? BETWEEN 60-70 MILLION PEOPLE WATCHED EACH DEBATE. DON’T THEY WANT MORE PEOPLE TO KNOW ABOUT THE ISSUE? Mr. McCain has lost his credibility in my opinion and also this Election. PLEASE FOCUS ON THE ECONOMY BECAUSE THATS WHAT MATTERS NOT WHAT BILL AYERS DID 40 YRS AGO.

McCain’s only strategy now is “Vote for us – we’re mean and desperate and completely out of ideas.” Palin is a gimmick. The latest mortgage bailout notion is a gimmick. Well, we are sick of presidents who have tricks up their sleeves but no exit strategy for messes they create. I’m only sorry that Obama is going to inherit the poison fruits of Bush’s failed regime.

Yep, the Republican “base” is truly a collective group of stupid, rural, old people with little education. McCain and the majority of the actual GOP poltical base sits back and laughs that all they have to do is keep your rednecks in line with a few issues to stoke your bible thumping mindset– abortion, gay rights, stem cell, be afraid of the black guy etc..diverting your attention from the fact that you are being used and raped financially. This is why you’re a bunch of poor, rural white trash morons. The GOP needs you people to remain ignorant and uneducated. You people are our version of the people living on the outskirts of North Korea, who have been brainwashed and led to believe that they are flourishing, and that Kim Jong Il cares about their interests.

Here here, KP, you are absolutely right! Not one question during during the last debate was about past associations – Obama’s or McCain’s either one. I can hardly sleep at night for worrying about my 65-year old dad’s fast-vanishing retirement savings, and how I’m going to pay my own bills. In harping on Ayers and Obama’s middle name, McCain’s “Straight Talk Express” has taken an Exit Ramp to Nowhere.

I am a fourth generation (moderate) Republican who is now officially registered as an Independent voter in Arizona. I used to be a big fan of John McCain, and have voted for him to represent my state as senator in every election. I have heard him speak in person, and I was especially impressed by his courageous description of religious right extremists (who scare the he## out of me) as “agents of intolerance”. I was incensed at the sleazy hatchet job done on him by Bush/Rove during the 2000 presidential primaries.
Now, I can no longer vote for John McCain. I believe he has learned the wrong lesson from the 2000 election, and has made a Faustian pact with the devil to get elected. He lost me way before the selection of Sarah Palin, by cozying up to the religious right exptremists.

That map is projected. No one can predict who will win what state. The news media had Obama winning in NH, NV, OH and PA. He lost in all four states. And more people are beginning to know who the real Obama is. It appears the McCain ad on Obama’s ties to Ayers is working. In Waukesha, WI they were calling Obama a traitor and a terrorist. I’m glad you mentioned the stock market.
I think we all know what keeps the market going… Stock purchases. Most of these purchases come from the rich, we all love to hate and large multi billion dollar corporations.
What do you think will happen when Obama is elected and he charges doubles the capital gains tax on the above mentioned?
The market is going to TANK. They’re going to sell off before they get hit with it.
And if you haven’t put 2 and 2 together… what do you think will happen to your 401Ks and other retirement plans that depend on the market, that depend on the rich and large corporations..

Blame the banks and mortgage lenders who lent money to young people and did not do a credit check on them, did not check their job or income and did’t care as long as they lent them the money to buy the condo or house. And the buyer’s are also at fault for buying property with no money down or 5% down. That’s why there are so many foreclosures. They can’t make the payments.

Senator Barack Obama in Kenya > Obama and Odinga: The True Story
Posted by africanpress on August 10, 2008
The mainstream media has justified ignoring this story based on a “conspiracy theory” chain email (politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/465) making the rounds from some African missionaries. Politifact.com examined the email—which claims Obama gave $1MM to Odinga’s campaign—and declared it “a pants on fire”.
However, the underlying (more important issues) are verifiably true. In August and September 2006, Senator Barack Obama traveled to South Africa, Chad, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Chad and Kenya as a congressional delegation of one (Codel Obama) (“Codel Obama” The Hill 9/7/2006) While in Kenya, Obama consistently appeared at the side of fellow Luo Raila Odinga (“your agent for change’), who was running for President. (“Senator Rebukes Kenya’s Corruption” Chicago Sun Times 8/29/2006) Because of his African heritage, Obama was treated as a virtual “Head of State” in Kenya While campaigning with Odinga, Obama was openly critical of governmental corruption under President Mibaki –usually a fair, if undiplomatic, criticism from an objective observer.
However, Kibaki’s government has been better than most—and Odinga has his own corruption issues.(
“Loud and Populist, But No Political Outsider” The Guardian 12/29/2007)
Obama’s partisan support for Odinga was considered so transparent, that the Kenyan Government spokesman, Alfred Matua, complained of political posturing to aid Odinga’s election chances: “It is very clear that the senator has been used as a puppet to perpetuate opposition politics,”(“Walking The World Stage” Newsweek 9/11/06) And, “…we earlier thought he was mature in his assessment of Kenyan and African politics,” Mutua told AFP.”We forgive him because it is his first time in the Senate and he is yet to mature into understanding issues of foreign policy,” he said.”(“Obama’s Kenya Honeymoon Ends Abruptly After Graft Rebuke” 8/29/06) Subsequently, Ambassador Ogingo Ogego made a public complaint to the US.(“Kenyan Envoy Kicks Off Diplomatic Row” My Africa 9/27/2006)
Raila Odinga subsequently lost the controversial (probably rigged) presidential election. In what appeared to many—including Human Rights Watch– as a coordinated strategy from the top, (“Violence We Fled was Planned, Say Kenyan Refugees” Reuters 1/26/2008 and “Kenya: Violence Planned Before Poll, Says Report” The Nation 3/18/2008) his Luo supporters (a core of whom call themselves The Taliban”(“Ethnic Gangs Rile Kenyan Slums” Newsweek 1/10/08)) engaged in what US Envoy Jendayi Frazer called “clear ethnic cleansing” (“US Envoy Calls Violence in Kenya ‘Ethnic Cleansing’” USA Today 1/30/2008) of the Kikuyu opposition.
Posted by: Truth! | October 9, 2008, 4:49 pm 4:49 pm
Odinga’s supporters went on a rampage—burning Kikuyu homes and businesses, (“Ethnic Cleansing in Luoland” The Economist 2/7/2008) raping Kikuyu women, and murdering everyoOne in their path—including at least 50 Christian Kikuyu woman & children who had sought refuge in a church. They burned them alive. (“Mob Burns Kenyans Seeking Refuge In Church” CNN 1/10/2008)
“We have evidence that ODM [Odinga’s party] politicians and local leaders actively fomented some post-election violence,” Georgette Gagnon, acting Africa director for the New York based Human Rights Watch (HRW), said on Thursday.” (Violence We Fled was Planned, Say Kenyan Refugees” Ibid)
So: who is Raila Odinga that Senator Obama would expend his political capital and risk the goodwill of half the population of Kenya?
Their relationship is unclear. The BBC initially reported that Obama and Odinga were first cousins.(“Odinga Says Obama is His Cousin” 1/8/2008) The Obama campaign has since denied a familial relationship. Raila Odinga’s father Oginga Odinga was leader of the “Kenya People’s Union” and perceived as a “committed socialist” (“Oginga Odinga: Kenya’s Most Persecuted Politician” Kenya: Key Issues 8/21.2002). Odinga Sr. was also the political ally of fellow Luo; Barack Obama Sr.(The Risks of Knowledge (Ohio University Press, 2004) p. 182)
What we do know about Odinga is not good. A former Minister of Energy, Odinga is reported to have been set up in the oil business by the al Bakri Group and Muammar Quaddafi (“How Rich is Raila-The ODM Kenya Presidential Aspirant?” African Press 4/26/2007) Abdel Qader Bakri (or- Abdulkader al Bakri) was listed on the infamous “Golden Chain”–an internal Al-Queda list of wealthy Saudi financial sponsors seized by Bosnian police in a Islamic “charity” raid in 2001. (“Terrorist Financing Staff Monograph 9/11 Commission and “The Golden Chain”) According to his website, Odinga was educated in Communist East Germany, (Herder Institute, Leipzig & Otto von Guericke Tech. Institute, Magdeburg) (http://www.raila07.com) Odinga’s eldest son is named “Fidel” (http://www.raila07.com)
Perhaps most troubling is Odinga’s links to Islamic extremists in Kenya. According to Voice of America and the Evangelical Alliance of Kenya, on 8/29/07, Odinga signed a secret agreement (exposed 11/27) with Sheikh Abdullah Abdi of the National Muslim
Leaders Forum (NAMLEF) in which he agreed to institute Islamic law in exchange for Abdi’s support (eakenya.org)–thereby potentially disenfranchising and curtailing the liberties of millions of Christian Kenyan women. Further, he promised that Muslims suspected of terrorism would be safe from extradition—thereby establishing a ‘safe haven’ for terrorists in Kenya.
After the public outcry, Odinga denied signing a secret agreement. Angry at Odinga’s apparent repudiation, a member of NAMLEF subsequently released the agreement to the press. Odinga then claimed the document was a forgery, but acknowledged a secret agreement had been signed in exchange for Muslim support. Finally, under constant pressure, Odinga released what he claimed was the actual document (“Real” MOU) a considerably watered down version of the original; but still anathema to many Christian groups. “In response to the revelations, The Evangelical Alliance of Kenya released a statement in which church leaders said Raila, in both MOUs, ‘comes across as a presumptive Muslim president bent on forcing Islamic law, religion and culture down the throats of the Kenyan people in total disregard of the Constitutionally guaranteed rights of freedom of worship and equal protection of the law’” (“Concerns Raised Over Alleged Vow To Enforce Islamic Law in Kenya” Christian Post 12/18/2007) To many westerners, the idea of imposing Sharia in a predominantly Christian country may have seemed fanciful. However, Kenya has had Sharia courts for family law (not criminal law)—called Khadi courts—since 1963.

For the US and “the war on terror”—the most worrisome section—contained in both agreements– concerns extradition (or renditions) of suspected terrorists to the US and
elsewhere. The Kibaki government had been a leading supporter of the US’s efforts to dismantle Al-Queda cells in Kenya (National Commission of Terrorist Attacks on the United States- 9/11 Report) and elsewhere. Raila Odinga made opposition to the government’s crackdown of suspected Al Queda supporters a cornerstone of his campaign “In Kimanthi’s view, ‘only some of the leaders’…were Al Queda sympathizers. The renditions- along with frequent police sweeps on the Swahili coast-had become an emotional issue in the presidential race. Islamic outrage had placed the incumbent, Kibaki, on the defensive and provided Raila Odinga with a tool to rally the support of Kenya’s Muslims.” (“The African Front” New York Times Magazine 12/23/2007) And, “Our government will not be held at ransom to extradite Muslims to foreign lands”, Odinga told supporters in the coastal city of Mombassa. ‘This government is behaving as if it is still a colony.’” (“Outcome of Kenyan Election Could Impact Anti-Terror Cooperation” CNSNews.com 10/17/2007)
So, how much of a national security concern is this? Well, actually: huge “…proximity to the volatile states…including Somalia and Sudan have made Kenya especially vulnerable, in the views of counterterrorism experts, to the call for jihad. Since the early 1990s, the mosques of Mombasa and other towns have resonated with militant Islamic rhetoric. Radical imams have preached violence against Westerners, attacked the Kenyan government as the lackey of the United States and Israel and called for the implementation of Shariah. Members of the Qaeda cells that blew up the U.S. embassies in Nairobi and Dar es Salaam, Tanzania…were recruited in mosques near the Indian Ocean beaches [in Kenya]“ (“The African Front” , ibid)

Replying to Mariann Pepitone, who said “The only one that made a pact with the devil is Obama and he went to the devil’s church for 20 years.” Perhaps you mistakenly believe that his membership in a church by itself means he agrees with everything the Rev. Wright says. That is not true.
I happen to have grown up in the United Church of Christ, the same church that Obama attended with Rev. Jeremiah Wright as pastor. The UCC champions religious freedom and, above all, TOLERANCE. Growing up, my minister (a wonderful public speaker) felt his primary responsibility was to make us think for ourselves. If our interpretations of the scripture in one of his sermons was different than his, that was fine as long as we had made a serious effort to think it through. The cardinal sin was not thinking, because then our beliefs would never be strong, personal beliefs. In an effort to teach us tolerance, our youth group attended Jewish seder services and Eastern Orthodox masses, and we held retreats with Roman Catholic youth groups. We learned to respect the views of others, while strengthening our own beliefs.
From what I have read, I have no doubt that Rev. Wright was an inspirational speaker that made Obama think about things, and he was attracted to this challenge. I don’t for a minute think Obama agreed with everything Rev. Wright said. That is my tradition, too, and I have often challenged and debated a UCC minister on his beliefs/opinions.
This is anathema to many on the extreme religious right. Theirs is the only “correct” way to interpret the Bible. Our founding fathers, as religious as they truly were, recognized the danger in this, which is why they tried to establish a separation between church and state. God help us if the religious right extremists ever succeed in dismantling this important tradition.

This racism much end. Palin is a racist. McCain is a racist. Wake up America! Our jobs, our pensions, and our social security are all on the line. McCain could care less. His wife is worth $100 million and he can’t remember how many homes he owns. Let’s put an end to this greed. We can’t afford to pay for a continuation of the Bush administration. God bless the USA and god bless our troops. Let’s bring them home now. They are and have always been heroes. We don’t need McCain to “bring them back as heroes.” He is completely out of touch with the USA.

Am I the only one that remembers that America was founded on one belief (freedom). We have fought so many wars and so many Americans have died for freedom, and yet you democrats are all voting for a man that wants to control our lives. He wants to regulate the stock market, he wants to control insurance, and fine us if don’t do it his way, he believes he knows more about the military than our generals that have been in the field there whole lives. You know that kind of belief shore does remind me of something “hum” I wonder what that could be, oh wait I remember its Communism.

Curiously, it has been the Kenyan press (almost alone) who have realized the potential implications: “… this is what may be the most memorable effect of the ODM’s [Odinga’s party] post-election campaign for State House. The longer their protests last, and the less disciplined they are – or the more atrocities like Eldoret [church massacre] are conducted in the party’s name- the more likely Kenya is to be stuck on the front pages of the world’s media and the more embarrassment it will bring to the Senator.” (“The Kiss of Death, How Kenya Could Spoil It For Obama” KenyaImagine 1/13/2008

Clearly, Obama campaigned for someone who is corrupt, ruthless and has financial ties to terrorists. More importantly, Obama campaigned for a candidate who had the stated objective of dismantling US & Kenyan government efforts to root out Al Queda and other terrorist organizations. Organizations that had already caused the deaths of hundreds of Americans and Africans in embassy bombings. Senator Obama’s actions—intentional or not—were in direct conflict with the efforts and interests of US national security. I think this raises serious questions about the judgment, maturity and readiness of Senator Obama.

I purchased stock in United Air Lines at a low price and then later they went bankrupt.I didn’t buy any more stock after that and that was several years ago. So the people that invest thousands of dollars in the market is at the loss if the stock market crashes. Its better to buy into bonds than stock.

Obama has lied about his “coming out party” at the home of William Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn in 1995. Obama has said that Alice Palmer arranged the fundraiser and the venue, but Griffin spoke to two people who attended the event, who claim Obama lied. Palmer had nothing to do with that event outside of being invited to it. Obama and Ayers planned the event themselves.
Obama has lied repeatedly about his relationship with the unrepentant domestic terrorist. He spent years working for Ayers, promoting Ayers’ causes. Even CNN won’t buy the Obama line any longer.

USA Today/Gallup Poll: Debate Boosted Obama, Not McCain
The increasing lead for Obama is in fact good news for McCain, it will make it lot less painful for him when he looses this November. Unlike AlGore, he does not to spend the next couple of years analyzing what went wrong. McCain has not completely disclosed his medical records, Yes, he is clearly unstable and erratic, I think in fact McCain should vote for Obama cos he would be better covered with Obama’s health care plan. The guy is full of lies and deception, yes, so much for dignity, honor and bringing country first. I cant understand when people say McCain is unpredictable though, the man seems to be clearly predictable, yes, mostly wrong (unfortunately).
Common Jhonny, take the defeat with honor and dignity, not with lies and deception, yes, we know you can do it !!

Paling will have another child while Todd will cheat on her with Cindy McCain, they’re switch partners – but all is forgiven when they forgive each other while the country burns in hell and taking down the rest of the world with it. Can’t wait!!!
Posted by: Ray | October 9, 2008, 7:59 pm 7:59 pm
If you watch the debate, you got an Idea of both candidates. McCain is a traditional old guy that believes in the class system. He feels based on his political, economic, and social standing he is the only choice. He’s done his time and sucked up properly with Bush over these past eight years. He and his wife are doing very well and associate with all the “right” people. So it’s only logical they be the next King and Queen of America.
It was apparent in the last debate how little McCain respects what Obama has achieved in such a short period of time. He views Obama as this uppity second class citizen trying to take his seat on the presentational bus. McCain feels Obama should be bowing down to his wife and him. Anything less from Obama means he’s being disrespectful to the upper class. Pointing to Obama and calling him “That one” proved this point to America. In McCain’s eyes people like Obama do not deserve the respect to be called out by name or title by him. But these same people must call him out by name and title, or they are label disrespectful. Again, this is the old world and military protocol thinking. A General can belittle the rank, but the rank can not belittle the General.
McCain’s thinking will set this country back further. He will continue with policies that fortify and enrich the upper class and weaken the middle/lower class. He offers up this so called tax break to the lower class (saying we should raise the dependant child rate from $3.500 to $7,000), basically to keep America barefoot and pregnant. Do we really want to promote America to get knocked up to reduce our taxation? This must be music to the Pro-lifer’s ears. Don’t get that abortion; you’ll loose that annual $7,000 deduction!
On Obama, I think what we learned here is he doesn’t have all the answers. He will surround himself with people that will jointly figure it out. I think he understands what non-business and the poor American is feeling right now. I think he also gets that 95 percent of us will never be on the other side of that scale. We will never be a country where everyone is a millionaire. The backbone of this country is the working class. So, if you look at it from a fair share citizen perspective, why not ask the folks making a little more to pay a little more in taxes. For example a family of 4 with an income of $250,000 can afford to pay $75,000 in taxes, and still have $43,750 for each household member. Whereas, a family of 4 with an income of $90,000 pays $13,500 in taxes, and has only 19,125 for each household member. While one can say this boarder on socialism, we should also consider the fact the family that earns $250,000 can afford to obtain a mortgage for a two to three million dollar home and deduct all the mortgage interest, whereas the $90,000 can not realized this same deduction. The rich have also been given loop-holes to sock away more for their retirement. The families living on $90,000 can’t sock it away because they need it to get by. This is what Obama gets, that McCain seems to ignore.
Obama gets that we’re not on track and “we all” as a country need to set higher standards and goals to get us back on track. Like, setting the goal “In tens years fully eliminate our dependency on foreign oil or better yet fossil fuel altogether”. Whereas, McCain sez, drill, baby, drill without setting any milestones of change. Obama, gets that we’re playing with our future generation’s environment and will need to be mindful of this verse continue our wasteful ways.
I found myself listening to Obama talk. Obama made me feel as if I really do play a role in our country’s future. For the past eight years we’ve been doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Obama is telling us “we” need to change how we go about fixing our problems or we’re going to end up staying where we are today. I get that. McCain is telling us, his mere existence (with Palin) in Washington will be catalyst to promote the change? McCain is saying the government’s the only problem. I agree with Obama, we “all” contributed to our current state. We have failed to realize how important each and every one of us is in getting our country moving forward again.
All in all, I thought which of two I would find myself tuning in for “State of the Union” and other as needed “call to action” talks to America. Thinking back, I listened intently to Reagan and Clinton’s “State of Unions”. I dreaded the Bush’s… both of them, father and son. I’m not connecting with McCain, but I am with Obama. In listening to McCain, I don’t feel that I’m his type of American citizen. I’m not “his friend”. I don’t feel I’m wanted in his version of America. With Obama, I sense that I am thread in the fabric of America.
Growing up left handed, I had a grade school teacher that would strike my left hand with a ruler when I tried to write with it. One day, I came home from school and my mother saw a bruise on my left hand and she asked me what happened. I cried, and told her that I was writing with the hand of the devil and Mrs. Xxxx, is only trying to help me stop. My mother did not say much, except that there is nothing wrong with my being left handed. The next day my mother marched into school with me and told Mrs. Xxxx never strike my left hand again. She explained her position on this subject. While listening to her talk with my teacher, I learned then and there that there was nothing wrong or sinful about being left handed. I learned that sometimes those you look up (like Mrs. Xxxx) don’t always get it right.
When I listen to McCain and Palin, I am reminded of my grade school teacher, someone who is superior to others and has the right to direct the weaker on how to act and feel. When I listen to Obama I am reminded of my parent, someone that encourages us to be better, supports being different, and to gets past conflict though talk over violence.
I hope Obama wins so he can continue to inspire us as individuals and as a country.

I’m 52–we’ve been at war for over 40 years of those 52. That’s an embarrassing record when put in perspective. Oh sure we beat-up everybody on the block, and countries feared us. We’ve taken what we need when we needed it. Now it looks like we’ve undone ourselves and we have no one to blame but ourselves. The world should take note, we are more dangerous now, in our current state, in pain and bleeding from self inflicted wounds. I can’t trust Senator McCain to keep us from writing the final chapter of existence. We need someone who will not have his finger on the button. We need some one who will have his finger on the pulse of world instead. Sorry John, I had to say it.

You know unfortunately we lose perspective of the issues and it all becomes this back and forth rhetoric. And both sides are guilty of it. The left and right in media are guilty of it, and we are guilty of it. We play to the negativity. I want to hear the issues, not name calling and speculation. What are the candidates going to do for me? I’ve heard what I need to hear, but winning votes by smear is shameless and classless. Let’s get back to fixing our country and getting back on track.

Hey obama+biden=losers -
Where’s your trailer parked? I bet you’re in Alabama, ain’t you sweetheart? Tell you what, why don’t you let the big thinking to the smart people and you can go grab yourself a pabst, kick back and dream of that fatty you’ll be rolling as soon as your momma brings in the harvest. If all you have is baseless redneck rhetoric – maybe your voting rights should be revoked. You just ain’t smart enough.
Guess you never got over big sis marrying “that dark guy” you all are so suspicious of.
You are right about one thing – this is a joke. You disgusting, uneducated, myopic (look that one up) redneck, ever loving greaseball – are the punchline.

Rightly or wrongly Republicans are associated with wealth snd business in the eyes of the American people and this will never be more evident than after we get the results of the congressional and presidential races.
Why couldn’t John Mc Cain have selected someone better qualified than Sarah Palin as Veep candidate? If they are elected and McCain goes his natural way as might be expected for his age and medical history I think we could lose this country.
At a time of major crisis what are we hearing? Lies, fabrications, exagerrations and inuendos about relatively trivial things.

Basically,i am Indian and i have nothing to gain from the US election’08. yet,i am keenly observing the American election campaigns through the internet.
First of all, I would like to say that American president is not a dictator whose plans would be blindly be endorsed. There is a congress and a senate and a congress which will have to give its vote on each presidential action. Moreover, there are so many learned and responsible people in the US system who won’t let US go down. All the president needs to do is to give the right “signals”. The debates are just a humbug.A popular president cheers up his people, gives confidence to the economy. You will be able to feel the goodwill all around. The reverse is true if you have an unpopular president. The present mess is a direct result of Mr. bush’s unpopularity.Americans!!you have two choices, choose the one who can instill the good will, the rest will take care of itself. If you make a wrong choice, It will be end of the so called AMERICAN CENTURY.good luck

Obama is a deceptive liar. LETS HEAR ABOUT WHAT IS GOING ON WITH ACORN, ABC..
HOW ABOUT IT??
Question that I would like to be answered. ABC – Political Radar: Please tell us why are you not reporting on the ACORN voter fraud issue that is popping up all over this country?? And the fact that Obama is front and center? I find it interesting that you are ignoring this. You are working for the American people. Do your job for god’s sake.
At least some of the media tells it like it is…I found this article…
For starters, Obama paid ACORN, which has endorsed him for president, $800,000 to register new voters, payments his campaign failed to accurately report. (They were disguised in his FEC disclosure as payments to a front group called Citizen Services Inc. for “advance work.”)
What’s more, Obama worked as executive director of ACORN’s voter-registration arm, Project Vote, in 1992.

After days I finally get it. Sarah Palin stated the other day that in the Vice Presidential debate Obama seemed less “candid” than usual. This confused me as well as a lot of other people. so far, noone has seemed to figuire out exactly what she meant by that statement. After all, anyone that watched the debate could plainly see that if anything Obama was slightly more “candid” than usual. WHile watching CNN news this morning, I think I finaly see what she was implying. The Mccain campaign”s strategy has been to paint Obama as a foreigner, an outsider that doesnt represent the American people and to re-enforce this with the underlying theme : “WHo is the real Barak Obama?”
There must have been a meeting in the Mccain campaign where someone said: “We need to make people think he has something to hide, after all, “Who is the REAL Barack Obama?” So this bimbo Palin runs with it, and the first thing she blurts out of her mouth to a reporter is… ” He (Obama)seemed a lot less candid than usual which I was kinda surprised”. ( suggesting that Barack was talking as if he was hiding something rather than actual talking like he always does).Palin is someone who thinks and reacts on the level of a 5th grader. It reminds me the kid that plays hide and seek and tells you that he wont hide under the sink beforehand.
What the hell was Mccain thinking?. This woman has neither the depth of knowledge nor the level of understanding to step in as president.

Tony Rezko pimped out Barack Obama to impress Nadhmi Auchi, a bad operator who found the political culture in Chicago and Illinois amenable to his kind of investment acumen. The only problem was that Rezko’s deal was in trouble, and Rezko himself was caught up in, among other scandals, a minority-contracting scam with the Dalely administration. At the same time, Rezko was wheeling and dealing with the Blagojevich administration and everyone in the political universe knew he was under federal investigation for it but Obama asked for his help buying a $1.6 million mansion and appeared at a couple of events to help Rezko impress Auchi and others.
Now Obama’s memory is faulty because there’s that pesky question of judgement, as well as the stain on his meticulously burnished image as a beacon of hope and reform because his relationship with both Rezko and the Machine and politics-as-usual is deeper than he’s ever cared to admit. Have I missed anything? Does that make sense now? Do you get the feeling there’s still more to the

The poll numbers will be higher for Obama as the pollsters haven’t included the cell phone effect which trumps the “Bradley effect” fellers. Gosh Dang it!

We’ve seen the destructive power of words. Remember when right-wing elements of the Grand Old Party stoked anti-government paranoia with talk of black helicopters enforcing Washington regulations? The party’s blind-eye assent to this ended on April 19, 1995, when Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols blew up Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City, killing 168 people and injuring more than 800 others. According to a New York Times article that year: “Three specific events confirmed Mr. McVeigh’s view of a runaway government out to take his guns: the Ruby Ridge raid (Aug. 22, 1992); Waco (April 19, 1993), and the passage of the Brady Bill in November 1993, mandating a five-day waiting period for the purchase of guns.”
Now, I’m not saying that it’s wrong to ask questions about Obama’s relationship, such as it was, with Bill Ayers. Or with Tony Rezko or with Rev. Jeremiah Wright. Just as it wouldn’t be inappropriate to raise questions about McCain’s association with G. Gordon Liddy, the convicted Watergate burglar whose colorful history includes telling listeners to his radio show in 1994 to shoot federal agents in the head. When McCain went on Liddy’s radio show in November 2007, he told Liddy, “I’m proud of you, I’m proud of your family… It’s always a pleasure for me to come on your program, Gordon, and congratulations on your continued success and adherence to the principles and philosophies that keep our nation great.”
The candidates’ associations with these people, and their responses to questions about them, give you a view into their judgment. But at a time of great economic uncertainty — so uncertain that the smartest people in the world are scratching their heads about what to do — whipping up anger rather than reaching for solutions is not what’s needed.
In his column today, my colleague Charles Krauthammer writes that Obama’s character “remains highly suspect.” And he ends by saying, “There is a difference between temperament and character.” This past week, by ginning up an anger and resentment on the campaign trail that should leave all with a cold chill running through their bodies, McCain has shown neither presidential temperament nor character.
The New York Daily News reported this week that a “top McCain strategist” said, “It’s a dangerous road, but we have no choice. If we keep talking about the economic crisis, we’re going to lose.”
If they keep doing what they’re doing, they’ll deserve to lose.

Let’s hope that this year’s election will be an honest one. We do not want to endure another Florida scandal in any state this election year.

the “that one” comment was more scary than insulting.
I think McCain is going down fast mentally, and
just could not remember Obama’s name. It really
scares me that McCain is so close the the White
House, and so far gone mentally.

if anyone belives in polls, they live in Fantasy World (735 does not mean anything when there are millions of us!!) if anyone believe either candidate will make a different in our life they need to come back down to earth. They still have to go through The House, The Senate and The Congrees! So think about the people that you are putting in your state, think about the people you want to represent you!!

Barack Obama won all the debates. Mccain looks agitated and ready for a straight jacket. His disdain for Obama is evident. When this is over…the GOP will throw Sarah Palin under the bus like they did Katherine Harris.
I would like to sit down and actually talk with one of those 20% that still think Bush is doing a great job. That should be really enlightening. The Republicans had total control for 6 years and the juice to fix anything and everything. Sadly, they screwed the pooch big time and now they will pay for it. Personally, I think some people forgot why they weren’t in power for such a long time…they remember now.

Jo,
Your posting on Oct 9th re: Obama and Michelle should go back to Africa. Let me guess you are part of the KKK and paranoid of gays but not guns. Can’t wait for Obama to become President so you can be living proof that a non-white person can indeed run this country the way it should be.
Wishing you much peace, love and happiness

I’m a little frightened by all of the anger on this board. I would like to believe that voters carefully consider the issues and vote based on who they believe to be the best leader. Instead, there are juvenile name-calls and ridiculous insults. I’m disappointed in my fellow citizens.
Seriously, what is the point of calling someone “Repug” or “DemWit,” like a first-grader calling someone a “stupid-head?” Does it explain any better why one or the other would make better choices and pass better laws?
I hope you calm down and think carefully before you vote on Election Day.
God Bless America.
Ginger
PS: It seems a little odd that you all know each other’s previous posts, so you must be on here a lot. Do you really think you’re going to convince each other? Why continue to try? And if you have all this time on your hands, why not come up with a few good paragraphs that accurately explain what you believe, so you wouldn’t have to rely on insults and tripe?
