40 years of trickle down economics
compared to the earluy years where our focus was on the middle class being the engine that built this country into the beacon of strength that it was.

Ummm lets see, I don’t even have to watch to know who the media picked.

Well let’s see…..Obama could not even make a housing project in little ol Chicago work….how on earth can he make the entire US economy work?
Better yet, over $1,000 a month comes out of my pay check for taxes alone–I work with charitable organizations by donating my time and money……Obama/Biden, I think I am pretty patriotic and do not need my taxes increased so you two can go on a $1 Trillion Dollar spending spree.
As well, if we really want to help the aconomy—Get rid of Pelosi, Dodd, Reid and Franks sorry butts……I could care less if you replace them with a Democrat, Republican or Independent…..Those four stooges are the downfall of Congress not to mention the Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac fiasco.
One would only need to look at whom gained the most money from those two housing giants and then that fact that Franks’ lover worked for them while he was head of the committee??? Really…..sound a little fishy because it sure does stink to most of America!!!!

“In San Antonio on Tuesday, Obama said that Clinton’s foreclosure freeze was potentially “disastrous,” rewarding “people who made this problem worse” by benefiting banks that profit from high mortgage rates.
Obama’s plan is sometihng he said was “DISASTOROUS” when Hillary first proposed it.
Obama -Erratic, liar, flip-flopper Dangerously uninformed.

BTW…..I am not sure if you have listend to Steve Forbes take on whose Economic Policy is right for America—But what he said is that Obama’s would in fact hurt the middle class and “might” be a temporary fix to our economy while McCain’s would not hurt the middle class and would be a LONG TERM fix for the economy!

geevil
your whole statement can be applied more easily to mccain LOL
if anyones been dangerously erratic its been mccain, i mean thank god this guy wasnt president right now… or lol who knwos where we would be…
i mean when your first decision as president elect is to pick the second most qualified person in the US to step in at a moments notice and assume the role of the presidency is to pick someone like sarah palin
i mean….
thats like handing iran all the nuclear parts and a blue print and letting them assemble it…

Obama would love for the middle class to foolishly drain $10,000 out of 401ks. Not only would it be taxed, but it would probably bump most of us into the Alternative Minimum Tax bracket.
Obama wants to “spread the wealth”. Of course it isn’t really wealth -it is our meager retirement fund and Obama doesn’t want to spread it. he wants to give it to his lazy ACORNS.

CAPITAL GAINS TAX
MCCAIN – 15% (no change)
OBAMA – 28%
How does this affect you? If you sell your home and make a profit, you will pay 28% of your gain on taxes. If you are heading toward retirement and would like to down-size your home or move into a retirement community, 28% of the money you make from your home will go to taxes. This proposal will adversely affect the elderly who are counting on the income from their homes as part of their retirement income.
DIVIDEND TAX
MCCAIN 15% (no change)
OBAMA 39.6%
How will this affect you? If you have any money invested in stock market, IRA, mutual funds, college funds, life insurance, retirement accounts, or anything that pays or reinvests dividends, you will now be paying nearly 40% of the money earned on taxes if Obama becomes president. The experts predict that “Higher tax rates on dividends and capital gains would crash the stock market yet do absolutely nothing to cut the deficit.”

jackie: “No one is reporting on the level of intimidation being experienced by common folks, like me.”
Unfortunately, due to the McCain campaign’s documented policy of lying – obviously, blatantly, repeatedly, and on video – we don’t believe you. Sorry. But Republicans have cried Wolf! so times when there isn’t even a chipmunk out there on issues ranging from wasting our best and brightest in Iraq for no reason to easily-disproved claims that Obama went to a madrassa, that people now ask for proof. It’s called learning from experience. Republican’s have lost any benefit of the doubt.

Is John McCain still wondering around the stage like he’s lost?
“McCain campaign says John McCain will announce new economic proposals.”
“McCain campaign says there is no truth they are going to announce new economic proposals”
“McCain campaign says ‘here are new economic proposals.”
MEANWHILE, STEADY AS A ROCK Barack Obama gave a major speech Monday where he proposed additional incentives for businesses that create new jobs in the United States.
******************************
Was John McCain thinking about the nation’s welfare when he selected Sarah ‘Putins head in Alaskian airspace’ Palin to be one instant from being President of the Unite States?
John McCain. Just because he has dropped the ball a dozen times does not mean that he is experienced. It means he is incompetent!

Ex Democrat: ” If you sell your home and make a profit, you will pay 28% of your gain on taxes. ”
Are you deliberately lying or mindlessly parroting a lie? The first $500k (married, $250k single) of profit on sale of a home is tax free.
Either way, you prove my point of why all Republican statements are assumed to be lies until proven true by prudent voters. IRS Publication 523 proves you are a liar – why should we trust anything else you have to say?

NOW he decides to focus on the economy, the middle class, seniors etc.! Oh, I guess the poll numbers dictated that he had to actually campaign on an issue instead of hate. He has never discussed the middle class in his stump speeches or in the debates – now, this weekend, in the 11th hour, the middle class is important. Obama and Biden have been campaigning on this for months and Obama for nearly 2 YEARS. Not two days like McCain! This is disingenulous. Obama’s plan, once portion of it, focuses on keeping families in their homes – making sure families are not booted out on the streets. His plan is comprehensive for the middle class offering numerous areas that will help the working poor and the middle class. Obama has been talking about helping the middle class in numerous speeches for months and also in all the debates. Obama hasn’t just jumped in at the last minute to care about the middle class – McCain has.

At the 11th hour; the campaign of smears now cares about the working poor and the middle class; McCain is disingenuous.

From yesterday’s Wall Street Journal, Obama’s 95% Illusion. It is a must read. Here’s an excerpt:
“Here’s the political catch. All but the clean car credit would be “refundable,” which is Washington-speak for the fact that you can receive these checks even if you have no income-tax liability. In other words, they are an income transfer — a federal check — from taxpayers to nontaxpayers. Once upon a time we called this “welfare,” or in George McGovern’s 1972 campaign a “Demogrant.” Mr. Obama’s genius is to call it a tax cut.
The Tax Foundation (non-partisan, non-profit organization) estimates that under the Obama plan 63 million Americans, or 44% of all tax filers, would have no income tax liability and most of those would get a check from the IRS each year. The Heritage Foundation’s Center for Data Analysis estimates that by 2011, under the Obama plan, an additional 10 million filers would pay zero taxes while cashing checks from the IRS.”
Obama’s “tax cuts” will amount to nothing more than 60 million people paying no taxes and at least half of those people RECEIVING A CHECK FROM THE IRS. There’s only one word for this – socialism.

This country is really going down hill fast. It seems that the media is so preoccupied with getting Obama elected that they are willing to conceal the truth. Acorn is stealing the election for Obama. Ayer’s was involved with him and in all likelihood still is. This was an unrepentant terrorist. Rev Wright is an Anti-American these are people associated with. If Obama gets elected with control of a democratic congress we are going to be repentant. This country will fall in total control of the liberal left. No checks and balances. In my opinion many in the media should be arrested for treason to this country. The Obama campaign is crying racism, this is the way they avoid the truth. This is the same thing they did to Hillary, cry racism when someone spoke the truth and they had no answer. When is AMERICA going to wake up? When is the media going to report the truth? Obama is a fraud!!!.

** No Woody we’d rather have the stock market crash and have social security a part of that like McCain suggested. Or maybe we can deregulate everything and every person fend for themselves. We should vote McCain and keep the same crappy tax code we’ve had! Or maybe we can go start another holy war with no weapons of mass destruction! Yeah and then we can take back the woman’s choice to privacy and for that matter the right to vote. Who cares what happened to equal pay for equal work, we’re American conservatives and if things don’t go our way, then its just Un American! If people don’t believe in us then they are bad people! We want more George Bush and his policies..
*see how the above statements sound extremely stupid? see why Obama is leading in polls? see why the President has such a low approval rating? see why people are happy Obama is running? See why people don’t like McCain

Woody: That Wall Street Journal hit piece has already been torn apart. It uses Cliton’esque phrasing to very carefully misrepresent Obama’s tax plan – ignoring important qualifiers like “working families.” Also, in a quite blatant attempt to mislead (there is no way the WSJ is ignorant of this), his plan includes PAYROLL TAXES too. Every single working family wage earner pays payroll tax. Notice how careful the WSJ is to always say “income tax,” counting on the partisan readers to be too blindly devoted to wonder why that careful parsing is so necessary…

Right. Because nothing has changed since Feb 21st, and what Republicans want more than anything is a leader who goes with his gut and stays the course, even if conditions change.

Posted by: jhw539 | October 14, 2008, 10:49 am 10:49 am

I’m a Democrat for McCain, but I believe that Obama will win this election. Pelosi & Reid expect a Democratic “super-majority” in Congress. It won’t help them get through the left’s socialist agenda. Too many moderate Democrats, especially in the south, will vote with Republicans against the Democratic super-majority. I find it interesting that Democrats running here in Missouri, like Steve Stengel, are emphasizing their CONSERVATIVE views in their ads. Stengel sent a flyer in the mail. The top of it said, “Conservative Democrat.” He then went on to distance himself from the Pelosi crowd. Even Jay Nixon, attorney general and Democratic candidate for governor, has jumped off the Obama bandwagon. Early in his campaign he started the “McCain=Bush” mantra, but very quickly dropped it. His own polling showed that attacking McCain was hurting him, even with Democrats. Looking at his campaign ads now, you’d think he had never heard of Barack Obama or the left wing of the Democratic Party. My cousins in Arkansas and Tennessee tell me Democratic politicians there are also distancing themselves from the Obama campaign, and the Pelosi/Reid wing of the party. One candidate went out of his way to tell people he’d never met Barack Obama, and does not share his views!!! I find that just amazing. I’ve never seen an election where members of a winning party try to distance themselves from the top of their ticket. We are in for a very interesting four years with an Obama/Pelosi/Reid presidency. Sit back and relax, folks. We’re in for a bumpy 4-year ride with the first, and undoubtedly last, Socialist president of the United States!

They have. And it’s not very worrying to rational people not in thrall to the Republican Right’s cult of fear. Everyone has heard about Ayers – it was hammered home during the primaries and was even a question in a prime-time debate. You are complaining because, after a rational consideration of the issue, most people don’t agree with you.
Get your argument straight: It’s not that the media hasn’t reported it, it’s that most people have all the facts and see you as a extremist.

If you mean McCain’s proposals are good, you will need to be more specific. While Obama has had a consistent proposal (and detailed white papers on his website) for most of the race, McCain has thrown out many, often conflicting, soundbites. I haven’t see a detailed and consistent economic proposal from McCain yet (other than hiding his main economic adviser Mr. “whiners…mental recession” Gramm).

Before he was making up controversies in a desperate attempt to smear his way into the Whitehouse, McCain was attending and supporting ACORN events (as the recently released pictures from 2006 prove). As I have mentioned before, Republicans have been proven liars so many times and so irrefutably in this election that no one is really willing to believe your rantings anymore, particularly when there are recent pictures of McCain sitting contentedly at an ACORN event…

**Thank you jhw. People act like they can’t research the issues. Obama layed out a plan months ago thats why he’s winning the polls. People who are smart enough to know TV won’t give you all the information know where Obama stands with policies which he spends the majority of his time talking about instead of McCain who would rather attack characters (something he lacks). He should stop listening to the Bush campaign leaders and talk to us in very specific sentences what he plans to do in office. Not generalizations, PLANS! Actual plans that people can understand what in the world he’s talking about. Unfortunately, I’m not sure even McCain knows or he has a bad case of amnesia!

No, not REGISTRATIONS, but VOTES?
So far there’s only been accusations. That’s it. But, assuming some hourly workers somewhere made mistakes or made a joke out of registrations, HOW will VOTER fraud occur????????
Look at reality instead of meaningless innuendo intentionally put out there to justify VOTER SUPPRESSION:
1) Newly registered voters MUST show an ID to vote. No ID, no vote.
2) ALL registrations are submitted to the states respective voting boards, BEFORE they are certified.
3) ACORN is REQUIRED to submit ALL registrations even if they know they are incorrect or fraudulent.
4) Of the people ACORN registered, 40% were REPUBLICAN.
5) John McCain previously supported ACORN and worked with them.
There are checks in place to prevent voter fraud. Anyone with ant snese knows this.
Voter suppression is MUCH more likely and has been used in the two previous elections. So quit playing with your nuts, and come back to reality.

Carrie – I’m from Missouri, too, (St. Louis), and I don’t believe you’re right about Obama winning. I just don’t believe the polls. At any rate, you are right on about Steve Stengel and other Dems. We got his flyer at our house, and the first thing we noticed was the words “Conservative Democrat.” And I do remember Jay Nixon using that old McCain is Bush III nonsense, and then he suddenly dropped that line. At least I haven’t heard him use it in any of his ads or his speeches. Nixon knows how basically conservative Missourians are. Democrats in red states will never support the socialist agenda of Pelosi and Reid. Especially the House members because they are re-elected every couple of years. They’ll vote AGAINST their own party because they want to get re-elected in their conservative districts, like Mehlville, where Steve Stengel is running.

Odd that McCain/Parrot are touting Ronald Reagan as the quintessential Republican
Reagan RAISED corporate taxes while in office, he did not lower them.
That’s EXACTLY what Obama has been saying!
And McCain’s $300 Billion ADDITIONAL tax dollars to buy out banks with bad mortgage debt is 100% SOCIALIST policy.

Bush speaks almost every day about the economy for 3 weeks, the result is the market goes down.
Yesterday, Obama unveils his economic plan to help the middle class, the market skyrockets.
Today, McCain unveils his economic plan for Wall Street, the result ????
After watching McCain stumble through most of his prepared speeches, I’m guessing the market will drop today.

John McCain – guilty of Violation of Ethics

OK, define “working families” for me, as if it matters.
“Also, in a quite blatant attempt to mislead (there is no way the WSJ is ignorant of this), his plan includes PAYROLL TAXES too. Every single working family wage earner pays payroll tax.”
So what? Everyone pays payroll taxes and never sees them again. We file our INCOME TAXES every year, not PAYROLL TAXES! The IRS is concerned about INCOME TAXES!!! You’re reinforcing the point the article makes! Obama claims “tax breaks” for 95% of Americans when it’s not true at all! It’s called a redistribution of wealth. Obama is deciding who should hand over their hard-earned income to whom. BTW, this is the Tax Foundation’s analysis, not some right wing think tank.

If he associated with unrepentant terrorists and started his presidential campaign in a terrorist’s living room? If he would not give Americans the details of his college life, transcripts, health records, and birth certificate? If his wife spouted off how she was just now proud of her country? If he gave $800k or more to ACORN to get out the voter fraud for the repubs? If he flipped on every issue since the primary? If he planned to raise taxes and begin socialism and disguised it as “fairness for the middle class?” If he had truth squads arresting people against him and had his supporters spewing sexist slurs every day? You get my point. I bring this up to the bots and ask them what if McCain had done all this? They have nothing to say except “McCain is more of the same” and the line of this election…”you’re a racist.” The bots are useless morons who would follow any cult that gave them free reign with the media and local authorities to run around in mayhem terrorizing people, trashing cars, and getting in people’s faces.

There is now evidence of VOTER FRAUD in the ACORN case.
New article out today says that one of the people registered by ACORN in Ohio, whose registration turned out to be fraudulent, showed up for early voting, and proceeded to cast his ballot, which was later cancelled.
He was also subpoenaed to testify at the hearings in Ohio yesterday and never appeared.
This guy was caught, but you can only wonder how many won’t be.

How can his registration be fraudulent ?
If he registered and its in his name how can it be fraudulent ?
“He was also subpoenaed to testify at the hearings in Ohio yesterday and never appeared.”
Why would he be subpoenaed to testify ?
If your “story” was true he wouldnt testify because he would be facing charges for comiting voter fraud!

No one doubts that fake names havent been registered!
Its illegal for acorn to destroy registration forms even if they think or know they are fake Acorn puts them in a stack flag as suspect!
Its not voter fraud its registation fraud… Given that ACORN flags them as suspect the fake ones should be denied by officals!

A review of Obama’s voting record in Illinois and in the U.S. Senate – where he is identified as the most liberal Senator – is evidence of his continuing support of the socialist goals he trained his ACORN followers to pursue.
The “change” he so desperately seeks is to change America from a nation that thrives on capitalism, free-markets, private property, and individual freedom, to a socialist nation in which government sets wages, provides housing, manages markets, and dictates to every individual what may, and may not, be done.

This year is not the first time ACORN has been caught red-handed with fraud
and voter registering. The Democrats knew this yet support this type of action and group. Each known duplicate should be considered a crime. Heads should roll. It discourages honest people from voting knowing the system is corrupt. Thousands of forms and not enough time or personnel to determine the legal voters.

End Result: High prices for product, this increases the taxes we pay on those products and less jobs–Yes, that us real smart!

It’s sooooo sad to see so many blue collar workers supporting Mcain. I say IF McCain wins, it will be interesting to see these same workers scrambling for jobs like roaches once the lights are turned on.

Not John McCain. Who in the heck has capital gains? Is he kidding? In NORMAL times, more than 75% of this applies only to millionaires. What happened to Main Street McPalin? Also, I just don’t see how encouranging more withdrawl from the market is going to get us out of this mess. It’s going to do the opposite. McCain’s plan is for the rich. And it’s not even good for the rich – if they happen to need any help involving medical research – McCain is calling for an overall freeze. That means breast cancer research, prostate cancer research, MS research, Alzheimer’s research … and aren’t we already behind the Chinese, the Japanese, the Taiwanese India and SINGAPORE on research? Anybody happen to look at his list of economists? Phil Gramm and his wife don’t inspire confidence. Neither does somebody from a Junior College in Orange County. I started to match names against donations to McCain – there were an awful lot of correlations. Sorry, but I’m sticking to Paul Volcker and Warren Buffett.

Unpolitically correct – Why don’t you just keep the same moniker? It’s so much easier. I’m not sure where you’re from and I’m sure it’s a nice place, but we don’t keep our birth certificates in vaults here. We don’t have reliqueries like they do in the Vatican vaults (although Gd knows what the with hunter Palins have) and generally vaults are where we put the ashes of our deceased. We usually keep our birth certificates in our desks, or sometimes at the bank.
This also has absolutely nothing to do with John McCain’s 30th economic plan in 30 days. Who is coming up with these? Meghan?
