Will McCain-Palin Be Keystoned?

The Morning Call/Muhlenberg College tracking poll of Pennsylvania voters has bad news for the GOP ticket.

Not only is Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., in the lead, but Sen. John McCain’s unfavorables (42%) are higher than his favorables (40%).

Same with Gov. Sarah Palin (43% unfavorable, 41% favorable).

For Obama (fave 50%, unfave 35%) and Sen. Joe Biden, D-Del., (fave 51%, unfave 28%) the news is a bit better.

The Obama campaign says they cannot envision a real path to the nomination for McCain without the Republican winning Pennsylvania.

But, as I said earlier today, three weeks is a lifetime in politics.

I believe the media says that three weeks is a lifetime in politics because they want us keep tuning in. They want a close race. They want drama.
I for one am tired of it.

Jake, why aren’t you reporting McCain’s meeting with criminal Follieri?
This is dirtier than acorn. He held his 70th birthday party on Follieri’s boat. What did you talk about, McCain?

McCain & Palin will most certainly lose in Pennsylvania, as they have nothing to offer anyone except threats, lies and innuendo.
They will also lose as they have crazy people on their side like:
In case you missed it over the weekend, a minister who gave the invocation at a McCain rally in Iowa couched his prayer in terms I’ve never heard before:
God’s own reputation is at stake in this election, he said, because so many Muslims, Hindus and Buddhists around the world are praying for an Obama victory that if Obama wins, they’ll think “their god is bigger” than the Christian god.

Rezko… no one cares.
Acorn… Nothing compared to Florida voter fraud in 2000.
Calling him a Muslim… no, that cost us 5% in the polls.
What else is there…?
I KNOW!
THE KENYA CAMPAIGN!!!
That will surely take American’s eyes off the issues!
President Barack Hussein Obama.
It’s going to be America again in America.

I like McCain, he is a good honorable man, and I wouldn’t mind voting for him if he didn’t have Palin on the ticket with him. I can’t stand her, she isn’t qualified and she uses her power for personal gains, it’s just shameful!

Jake neglects to mention that the ABC poll sampled a piddling 766 and that Reuters who sampled 1207 during the same period only shows a 4 percent difference. ABC is in the tank with Washington Post on this … how’s the Post doing on its circulation figures?

Posted by: beebop | October 13, 2008, 6:48 pm 6:48 pm

That’s embarrassing for McCain, a man who was tortured for our freedoms, and served the country with honor, but Palin on the other hand is unqualified and uses her power for personal gains, just shameful.

McCain will NOT WIN Pennsylvania. I repeat: McCain will not win Pennsylvania. Obama will win Pennsylvania by 20 points! Mark that down right now. Obama will rack up so many votes in Philly alone, the state will be a lock. he has the Clintons, Biden, Ed randel, and the mayor of Philly to GOTV. McCain should have left Pennsylvania months ago.

Clifton said: It’s going to be America again in America.
I don’t recall America ever, EVER being a socialist nation. I don’t ever recall being a part of redistribution of wealth? I don’t recall adults boo’ing a woman because they don’t agree with her ideologies, when her children are with her, to see, and hear all this. Especially the part of stoning Mrs. Palin. The people of Philadelphia should be so proud. I would think at some point, even if you don’t like someone, or don’t agree…for the sake of children, would carry ourselves in a more adult manner, and some decorum. I guess maturity, tact, and a class are things of yesteryear.
And I DO recall that socialism is something we have always fought against in this country. My great uncle, 2 uncles, father, father in law, 3 brothers, husband, and brother in law, 5 nephews, and 2 neices certainly joined the military for that purpose.
This won’t be the America as it once was, because socialism was never a part of America. This is a door that will be opened, and new things will come. I just hope you’re right, and they are new things you actually, truly want.
Remember…Chavez promised the same things to his people, with these kinds of promises, and poverty is worse than it was.

Reuters polls is BS. They have the Democratic sample in their polls only 1 point higher than the Republican sample. That’s insane. They also have Obama leading by 17 points amongst Independents and only leading by 4 points? That’s insane. If Obama wins independents by 17 points, he will win this eelction by 10 points minimum. There is at least a 6 point edge in Democratic affiliation. Reuters needs to adjust that idiot poll they have.

I do recall that the last 8 years is what ended up leaving us heading for socialism.
I do believe that America has for 8 years…not been the America that my ancestors fought for in every war including the revolution that this country has seen.
I do believe that America is better than the policies and right wing indignation and spin that we have been stuck in for the last 8 tragic years.
I do believe that most of America is waking up to the fact that the right wing hijacked this country and has almost destroyed it in 8 years.
so get off of it

the same tactics

Voters in PA sold their children’s future for a measly stimulous check and a bunch of empty promises. When the bush tax cuts expire perhaps they won’t think that is a tax increase. Stop talking nonsense. We are in debt now because Bush refused to let go of the tax cut during the war. First of all the tax cuts only benefits the rich, second of all he gives tax cuts to the middle class. The tax cuts were meant to be temporary and now someone has to pay the price. Maybe you should gamble with McCain and hope you don’t lose your job because he sucks at the economy.

A lot of our current problems can be traced back to Reagan. For one thing he was opposed to govt regulations. He gave speeches saying that govt needed to get out of the way of business, to let them do what they do so well. This hands off approach become the prevalent strategy of Republicans in their rhetoric and their actions. Can you even remember the last time the govt stopped a merger, or broke up a monopoly?
Reagan also laid the groundwork for all of the attacks on anything “liberal”. It’s gotten so bad that some on the right spew hatred as part of every issue. There are posts in this thread suggesting that Obama will redistribute all wealth, and that he’s holding meetings with criminals and campaigning in Kenya. THIS HAS GOT TO STOP! We face enough problems without fanning the flames of hate against our fellow Americans.

For a good chunk of the 20th century, the highest income bracket federal income tax exceeded 70% (1936-1980) with the top years during WW2 being 94%.
So before you go crying socialism because of a moderate tax hike on the ultra-rich, you may want to do some comparisons.

I don’t recall America ever, EVER being a socialist nation. I don’t ever recall being a part of redistribution of wealth?
————————–
Quite honestly, I think you must have missed the last eight years. There has been an incredible redistribution of wealth.
The middle class has almost diappeared. The wealthiest people have increased their holdings exponentially. The separation between the mega rich and everyone else is the greatest in American history, THAT’S a redistribution!
EVERY Democrat in the past 50 years has been called a “socialist”. It’s a fear tactic stemming from the cold war. John F Kennedy was called a “socialist”. Did the world stop spinning when he was elected? No.
Where in the Constitution, Bill of Rights, or Declaration of Independence where it says this nation must be a pure capitalist economy?
If you actually understand economics, you would see that the US never has had a pure market economy. There has ALWAYS been government intervention.
And if you examine the countries with the highest standards of living in the world, they ALL have some government intervention in their economies. ALL OF THEM. (The US is #12 using the matrix designed by the United Nations)
Making a system that is more equitable and fair for the majority of Americans is EXACTLY what America is about!
(Oh, McCain’s $300 BILLION in tax dollars so the government can own bad debt is PURE SOCIALISM) Why aren’t you afraid of that?

What I’m saying is…the mass redistribution won’t end at the rich. It will come from the middle class as well.
We dont’ have the resources the rich do, to get their money into other protections, such as foreign accounts, and other types of money market investments. They are hiding their wealth right now….so when that river runs dry, taxing the wealthy…the middle class is next. Despite the promise of not being taxed.

I have worked in 5 diferent polling firms and both parties as well as news orgnizations and non-profits do plenty of polling. Some show favoritism and some don’t but I would have to agree with you about a lot of fraud involved with polling fairly equal on bith sides. Then there are polls called “push polls” in which the make outrageous claims about one candidate. The worst “push polls” I have ever seen where done by the 2000 bush campaign during the primary against John McCain. And this year the same people that wrote those polls against McCain are working for McCain and pushing some very inflammatory statements about Obama. I’m sure there are similar polls being done by the Obama campaign but I haven’t personally seen them.

Jeanie, you make a viable point.
However, continuing to follow an economic policy that centers on the wealthiest Americans and corporations sharing their good fortune with the middle and lower class (which is basically the same thing now) has not worked. It’s a failed policy.
They will continue to illicit rules that send more money to those already wealthy.
Ronald Reagan RAISED taxes on corporations, he didn’t lower them. Isn’t he the quitessential republican?
And our nation is $10 TRILLION in the hole. All of us will be required to pay that debt. But I’m tired of paying more, as a percentage of income, that a multi-billion dollar corporation!
Right now, the average Fortune 500 company pays LESS than 18% in actual taxes.

Every managerial position that I have held required at least a B.A. (or B.S.), along with additional training in the area. I say this to say that, as a society, once we demanded excellence of anyone in a position of responsibility. Now, I find it interesting (and curious) that in this election, excellence is what most people seem to scorn. When did intelligence become a liability? When did ignorance become an asset? I find it unconscionable that we do not demand more from our journalists, our leaders and ourselves.

Will this be followed by a McCain-Palin pull-out? They need to focus on red states like NC and Indiana more than lost cause locales like Virginia and Penna.

The tax issue is a non issue so why worry about who will raise your taxes. If you don’t want to pay federal income taxes you don’t have to. I bet many of you didn’t know that. I challenge anyone to prove me wrong on this. Many people do pay a federal income tax either because of shear ignorance or out of a feeling of duty to their fellow Americans. I personally do pay income taxes even though I know I don’t have to I don’t make over $250,000 a year yet hopefully I can in the next few years. I make a very comfortable salary and could go out and buy a house without having to take out a loan just using some of my savings but I legalize that I have been able to increase my savings because I rent my home rather than owning. My heat is paid as well as water and garbage. If I bought a house I would pay as much or more for upkeep, utilities, and property taxes as I do for rent. I don’t care if my taxes are cut or increased because I believe that if I can help others I should. And that is what taxes do they help others who aren’t as well off as I am. I know most people wouldn’t do this but this is OUR country if one of us fails we all fail.

the problem is we have seen someone who we all came to believe to be a straight shooter (mccain) now give all of that up just to try to win an election.
it is to bad the people who have been handling the mccains, to have him go and find palin-(very unpatriotic)
and to stood to such lows of negative campaigning-especially after it happened to him
I thought the mccain were better than that-now, palin, that is another story, i can see her wallowing in mudslinging, and loving every minute of it.
she knew she was in over her head. she should have said thanks but no thanks.
but it just showes what ego will do for you. she and her husband seem to be nothing more that opportunist.
and the “they are just like me” life they would be bringing to the white house is a shame.
george bush with the support of mccain all the way has started the decline of the us around the world, if palin got into office-she would finish it.
no more super power status for the usa.
for mccain and co country first must mean
bring this country down first and then start on the rest of the world.

You didn’t show the folks the good parts…like Obama telling this guy that “the people below him needed a chance for success, too.” And guess who was going to foot the bill? ABC and the rest never tell the whole story about Obama, hence the poll numbers, which are probably scewed to favor Obama, too.

Looks like more trouble from Alaska is coming to haunt the McCain campaign. What a boneheaded mistake the Palin pick has been -
The Village Voice is reporting that Spenard, the contractor that built the Sports Complex in Wasilla, also built Sarah Palin’s house at the same time for free.
Sound familiar? Spenard is under investigation for doing the same thing for Sen. Ted Stevens, who is under a criminal investigation for it.
The Wall Street Journal has already a story up about the Palin-Stevens relationship today.
So, thanks to Palin, another blow to McCain is coming.

Posted by: megan | October 13, 2008, 8:58 pm 8:58 pm

Todd Palin told Fox News that he built the 3,450 square-foot, half million dollar home himself with the help of some “buddies.” Since Sarah Palin blocked an effort to require the filing of building permits as mayor of Wasilla, there is no record of who Todd’s “buddies” were.
Coincidentally, at the same time that Todd and his “buddies” were building the Palin house, the $12.5 million dollar Wasilla sports complex and hockey rink was under construction right down the road.
The architect who was awarded the $12.5 million sports complex, Blase Burkhart, is the son of Roy Burkhart, a Palin campaign contributor and the head of the local Republican party. Additionally, several of the subcontractors on the sports complex – including Spenard Builders Supply – were also contributors to Palin’s campaign.
In addition to contributing to Palin’s political campaign, Spenard Builders Supply happens to be the sponsor of Todd Palin’s snow-machine team. Atoine Bricks, a Spenard Builders Supply employee, stated that Spenard supplied the materials for the Palin house. If the Spenard name sounds familiar, that’s because they are one of the contractors that worked on Senator Ted Stevens house.
Alaskan Senator Ted Stevens was indicted recently, for accepting $250,000 worth of free renovations to his house from oil pipeline company VECO. Spenard Builders Supply is one of the contractors that worked on Stevens house.
Palin worked on Senator Ted Steven’s 527 group. Palin’s name is listed on 2003 incorporation papers of the “Ted Stevens Excellence in Public Service, Inc.,” a 527 group that could raise unlimited funds from corporate donors. The group was designed to serve as a political boot camp for Republican women in the state. She served as one of three directors until June 2005, when her name was replaced on state filings.

Is Sen. John McCain’s plan to help homeowners illegal? He wants the government to buy mortgages directly from banks at face value and then renegotiate their terms. Many economically savvy readers, as well as the Obama campaign, contend that the TARP explicitly prohibits the government from purchasing most mortgages at face value because to do so would violate the law’s taxpayer protection mechanisms.

GOP Prepares to BORROW AND SPEND :-)
The Republican National Committee, growing nervous over the prospect of Democrats’ winning a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate, is considering tapping into a $5 million line of credit this week to aid an increasing number of vulnerable incumbents, top Republicans say.
With party strategists fearing a bloodbath at the polls, GOP officials are shifting to triage mode, determining who can be saved and where to best spend their money.
And with the House and Senate Republican campaign committees being drastically outspent by their Democratic counterparts, and outside group such as Freedom’s Watch offering far less help than was once anticipated, Republicans are turning to the national party committee as a lender of last resort.

McCain: “Americans have got to understand that we are paying present-day retirees with the taxes paid by young workers in America today, and that’s a disgrace. It’s an absolute disgrace, and it’s got to be fixed.”
Senator, if that payment system is a disgrace, it has been one since Social Security was created during the Great Depression. For as long as the popular program has existed, today’s workers have paid the benefits of today’s retirees.

Obama’s plan is very simple. He is giving the large share of the tax burden people over 250,000 per year. Call it wealth distribution or whatever you want. The engine that drives this economy is the famlies and indivuals in the middle income class. If you give more money to them it pumps life into the ecomony. Bush and McCain are holding on to the failed trickle down theory that has never worked. If you were wealthy under their plan it was great. The rest of the country just got crumbs

McCain recycled a lot of some GOP convention speech lines today, in his “new” stump speech.
One of them: “We never hide from history. We make history.”
If Barack Obama would be elected President this year, Americans certainly will have made history. Even more, America would be the driving force of world history again.
It’s pretty impossible to convince anyone that the same would be true if McCain would become POTUS.

Posted by: trent | October 13, 2008, 9:46 pm 9:46 pm

Senator Obama has flunked both the tests on economic 101 and character. He says 95% of all Americans paying income taxes will get a tax cut, even when 40% of that 95% do not pay income taxes. That is FUZZY MATH and a big lie.
The Democrats were responsible for the subprime mortgage legislation signed by Clinton and the Republicans had to bail out our financial institution with taxpayer’s money.
Obama and his supporters are delusional about the economy. Obama speaks to the weak minded who wants a hand-out. Obama is a true SOCIALIST AND BAD FOR AMERICA.
Obama did support ACORN with a $800,000 contribution to try to defraud this election. How many more wrongs must Obama and his socialist followers do before voters wake up. Must be a million lies in his behalf and still growing. It is very scary for us who believe in our traditional values and the Constitution signed by our forefathers.

They all say the middle class will pay less in taxes under Obama’s plan. That is the real middle class not McCain’s middle class which is people that earn $5,000,000.00 or less. Based on my observations over 40 years of political campaigns:
Whenever a candidate or his campaign starts saying “The only poll that counts is the one on Election Day,” it means that candidate is losing big-time.
It’s the last refuge of the desperate.

The Obama campaign has been the diriest, most corrupt in the last 100 years but he is talking and winning over the weak minded–those who want something for nothing and the redistribution of wealth–take from those who worked hard and saved their money, creative wealth and new jobs and give to those who do little for themselves or society except create more children other people must support.
Ladies and gentlemen, we are looking at socialism square in the face and it is ugly.

I would have to add, however, that anyone who votes for Obama expecting him to carry out his myriad campaign promises…. has got rocks in his/her head!
And why are you all so afraid of Palin?
She came into this race with an 80 percent approval rating from her state.

So what if Obama new who Ayers was. They worked on a commitee together. Forty years have past. Move on. Obama was eight years old. He didn’t know Ayers at the time. This is so a non-issue. First the Who is Obama[?] didn’t work. And now we’re playing ring around the rosies with the Ayers thing again. They need to give it up. Most thinking people can see the smokescreen.

Posted by: hannah | October 14, 2008, 12:41 am 12:41 am

So I guess only really old people have experience. Sometimes it’s not about what a person has done, but the possibilities of what they can do. And just think, it’s not going to take him 40 years to accomplish something really big. And unlike Bush, I bet Obama reads the newspapers and internet as much as he writes.

Jake,
You are right, three weeks is a lifetime in politics. And when the good people of Pennsylvania get a closer look at Obama’s economic policy as outlined in today’s speech, I think they may well have second thoughts about supporting him. hopefully they will also get a chance to think about his energy policy (a democratic congress will reverse the offshore drilling policy yet again, reverting to no drilling; Obama is against nuclear energy and has made contradictory statements about clean coal that will doubtless morph back into ‘no no no’ once the election is over).

Yes, Bea. Indeed he is!
So why is he so scared of acknowledging the depth of his associations with these people…. even after the proof of the pudding (and of his past) is placed on a platter in front of his skinny face!
Whe that happens, what does Obama do?
Why he hits the denial button and tosses them al under the bus… like he did Jeremiah the second time around, and Rezko (who brought him B I G bucks), and his “typical white Grandmother”… the one who raised him, and, now Ayers.
Have any of you heard how Obama won his elections in Illinois?

I can’t excuse Obama for hanging around with Ayres after that. Ayres was standing on the Flag too. Must have given Obama cause for pause but it didn’t. After Rev. promises..One other question. And be honest. What did you really know about John McCain before he started his run? I knew he was a POW. And I remember watching him on TV when he was released. That was it. And how much do we really know about any person? It’s all political. There’s so much bad information floating around out there and even on the news. What ever happened to the news? And with the internet and blogs. Anybody could say anything about anybody and twist it around and make implications and the seeds of deceit are sown. And what do we know about Palin? I only know what I’ve seen in clips of her rallies. And even if they are taken out of context, it’s pretty hard to swallow.

I listened to Obama’s tax plan today and I don;t understand something. He said he is going to tax everybody that makes $250,000, that’s a lot of small busnesses, I have one. Anyway he followed that up with he was going to see the government would give businesses low interest loans so they could stay in business and grow and pay for expansion and in addition he was going to give a tax break for those businesses if they hired more people. So now I’m taxed but I can get a loan to pay expenses and if I hire more people I can’t afford I can get a tax break. I never heard anything like this in my life and I’ve been in business 16 years. Anybody got any ideas on what he’s talking about?

Posted by: Obama supporter | October 14, 2008, 1:12 am 1:12 am

Yes,Hannah, thinking people can see through the smokescreen. But you and I mean different things by that. To me, the smokescreen is Obama’s slippery response to people pointing out that so many of his associates are, to put it mildly, shady. Rezko, WRight, Ayers, Dorhn, Daley, etc. — one dubious associate would be something we could overlook, but there’s a pattern here. And part of the pattern is not only that Obama associates with these people when it is politically expedient but that he then distances himself when it is no longer helpful to his career to acknowledge the connections. His changing stories about Ayers (like earlier stories about Rezko and Wright)make my head spin, and hurt.

Posted by: CrystalD | October 14, 2008, 1:17 am 1:17 am

Oh really?
McCain “palls” around with a Watergate burglar, I believe. He has yet to renounce his associations with said burglar involved in the Watergate scandal. How about Sarah Palin giving a speech to the AIP ? Or her husband being a former member of said party? Or how about McCain’s questionable judgement, in extension, of picking someone who was associated in some way to the AIP?
And McCain was not “exonerated” or anything in the Keating 5. He just ESCAPED criminal charges, and was reprimanded very harshly by the US Senate Ethics Committee.
If McCain/Palin want to employ this guilt by association rubbish, we should hold them to the same standards. And in this case, they were FAR more involved with some far more shady people.

Obama supporter. I love America too. I love my life, even though survival has become an issue.I was a Hillary supporter and was really down on Obama and the way the primary turned out.I even toyed with the idea of not voting at all. So I’ve tried to make an informative decision based on issues. I watched his interviews and debates. People forget politics is a dirty business. Where a 5 o’clock shadow can lose you the election.Sometimes, politics aside, you have to use some instincts. I refuse to let other people’s fears persuade me one way or the other. I’m sure Obama new who Ayers was. But really what was he supposed to do? Get up and walk out on his job and quit? A job that had the potential to possibly do good for someone.Sometimes you have to work and associate with people you don’t agree with. And reverend Wright was hard for me to understand too. But I think there’s a fine line in guilt by association. Especially in a case like this. It’s not like you can control every person in your environment.

People go on about Ayers contributing $200 to Obama’s re-election to the Illinois Senate.
What about G. Gordon Liddy, convicted Watergate burglars pretty sizeable contributions- totalling $ 5000 to McCain’s campaign.
This is what McCain said to Liddy: “I’m proud of you, I’m proud of your family… It’s always a pleasure for me to come on your program, Gordon, and congratulations on your continued success and adherence to the principles and philosophies that keep our nation great.”
In comparison, McCain’s relationship with Liddy would also be pretty alarming, if they applied the same standards to themselves. So McCain, while I don’t automatically think you must be a criminal because you associate with a Watergate burglar, I don’t think you have any right to make a big fuss over Obama’s flimsy ties with Ayers when your own record is far from spotless.

promises..One other question.
Bea, what do we know about Obama, really. People keep asking questions about his grades in College, where he got the money to go, where is is thesis from Harvard and why isn’t there any articles written by him for the Law Review at Harvard. He was the first black president so he must have had something to say about it. And then there’s that elusive “vault” birth certificate that no one has seen. They aren’t satisfied with the Birth Registration because that’s done anytime after birth and means the birth wasn’t attended or at a hospital. I guess there could have been a mid-wife but it would say that. I wonder why he’s just not turning all this over. What does he have to hide? and what could it hurt. It would stop all the talk.

Bea:
The only thing I remember about McCain was that he was liked and respected by both sides of the Senate
Both Biden and Hillary had good things to say about him.
In fact, the only “Bad Stuff”…. came from the the Bushies….Republicans… the last time McCain ran for President.
McCain definitely does not have the glitz that Obama has, but , among others, he did write a bill around 2005 regarding the need for oversight in Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac which, had it passed, might have prevented the economic break down of the last couple of weeks.
Neither is my choice for the perfect President… (I felt Hillary should have won….) but I honestly feel that McCain will keep this country safer than Obama could…
Let’s face it; Even if we leave Iraq we’ll be fighting in Afghanistan …
and I thought it was awful that Obama encouraged Iraq to wait until after the elections before setting a date for a requested withdrawal!
That was the act of a egomaniac… not of a man running for President!
The ease with which Obama accepted the
comparision of McCain to George Wallace (do you remember who he was?) was totally unacceptable… as is his treatment of Cindy, and Sarah Palin’s family.
If McCain had had Axelrod has his campaign manager, he would be in Obama’s position…….
So I would suggest that anyone voting for Obama…write in “Axelrod”‘s name.
when you’ve closed that curtain.
Unless, of course, you’re voting for McCain!

moderate. We will agree to disagree. Have you ever met a perfect politician? One who is free of “associations”? I’ve never seen one. Imagine, a politician using people to further his career. Shocking. Unlike other politicians that use their daddy’s name or military service to further their career. I really don’t care about his associations. there is dirt everywhere. I really don’t understand what people think he would do if he became president. Round us up and shoot us? Is a difference in policy. And if the only way you can justify voting for McCain after the last 8 years is to falsify your fear, then have at it. Right now, I have to go to work, for the second time today.

Promises,
Ok I don’t know if everytime I ask this question of the people that make the claim that Obama somehow bad mouthed Cindy McCain and Sarah Palin if they think I’m being facetious about it or something. But you made this statement “totally unacceptable… as is his treatment of Cindy, and Sarah Palin’s family.” And I was wondering exactly what this unexeptable treatment you refer to is?
I am being serious because I have never heard or read a quote by Obama about Cindy McCain and the only thing I have evr heard of Obama saying about Sarah Palin’s family is that they are off limits. Please explain this to me as I would really like to know about this.

If Obama is so up in Pennsylvania, then why is he campaignly furiously and feverishly there?
Obama is spending a lot of time and money there.
Could it be that many Pennsylvania residents will not vote for Obama who call them ‘bitter’,'clinging to guns and religion’?
If Obama thinks himself as superior to Pennsylvanians, he cannot expect their votes.

Why would Americans worry about Obama’s association with Ayers? He was not involved in any questionable acts and he had nothing to do with the charges being dropped. Ayers was a mainstream guy when Obama met him. I am in my mid-forties and never heard of him until people tried to blame Obama for Ayers’ stupidity.
Excuse me for being obvious, but why is it so easy to ignore McCain’s associations? He not only associates with con artists and creeps, MCCAIN ASSOCIATES WITH AMERICAS WORST TRAITOR, GEORGE W. BUSH. Bush has committed HUNDREDS OF ACTS of TREASON against his own country! The repugs just ignore this fact. John McCain could find no lower life form to associate with than W(Warcrimes)Bush.

The only person that has “badmouthed Cindy McCain” is JOHN HIMSELF. Campaigning in the late nineties, he called his wife a “unt” with a “C” in front of four reporters. He was “tired”, poor thing! Guess he won’t ever be tired as president. That kind of slur is unforgivable. Obama wouldn’t say that to Michael in a million years. He’s a gentleman first and foremost. McCain was even called “McNasty” in high school and has said horrible things to his fellow Senators. I don’t want someone like this as my president!

People have to pick on Obama’s “associtions” because they can’t find any fault in his own action or reconrds…knowing someone, even closely–does not mean you hold the same prociples…For peets sake I am married to my husband and we disagree about everything in the political realm!!!
McCain (himself) was invloved in keating 5–Now, palin (herself) is accused of abusing power–BIG difference!

So much discussion is raging about “what’s the big deal about Obama’s association with a former terrorist” that I feel I need to find time to chime in. It is not the fact that Obama had an association in this decade with a man who committed such heinous crimes in the past that is troubling. Ayers should be persona non grata throughout the US, but he isn’t and that is what it is. What matters is that Ayers’ actions, both in the distant past and the recent past as well as in the present, reflect his world view. He is a radical leftist who wants to change the way America works– how we educate our children, how we dispense criminal justice, how we interact with the rest of the world. I do not agree with his views on these issues. I do not expect that Obama agrees with every detail of every view of every person he associates with. However, he wrote a blurb for a controversial book written by Ayers, so I assume he agrees with the views on the criminal justice system within that book. He served on a board giving out grants for education-related projects with Ayers, so I assume he agrees with Ayers in general terms on his educational philosophy. These are the facts related to his association with Ayers that trouble me. Ayers is an unrepentant terrorist and should be a social pariah but what matters in my judgment of the presidential candidates is that Ayers has a world view with which I am uncomfortable but with which Obama is quite comfortable. The same goes for Rev. Wright, btw. I do not share his vision of the world, either.
