Will Phanatics Phorget Debate in Philly?
HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. — Those hard-to-reach voters in Eastern Pennsylvania (John McCain was in the wonderful town of Blue Bell, Pa., just Tuesday) may be even harder to reach tonight.
In an unfortunate bit of timing, Game Five of the National League Championship Series starts at 8:22 pm ET Wednesday. That’s about half an hour before Bob Schieffer tosses out the first pitch here at Hofstra University.
Up 3-1 against the Los Angeles Dodges, the Philadelphia Phillies have a chance to capture their first World Series berth in 15 years this evening.

Oh boy.
The Good Lord has decided this race.
If McCain can not reach the fanatics who will be watching the game, he might as well chicken out of the debate.
They will get the refined debate results from the pundits.
Since they don’t believe Fix News anymore, McSlimmy is toast.

Since we’re talking about sports – interesting isn’t it, that the self-proclaimed hockey mom – Palin, the mayor of Alaska, got booed at a recent Flyers game. I guess the “aw shucks I’m just like you Joe Sixpack” condescending approach is wearing thin. Or maybe people were booing about Todd Palin’s involvement in the Alaska Independence Party – a Secessionist organization. Maybe people were booing Palin’s troopergate scandal – the investigation of which concluded that she violated state ethics laws. Or maybe people were booing because they think Palin is so woefully unqualified to be 2nd in charge that it’s actually an insult to our great democracy.

Too bad for McCain. At least everyone tuned into his big acceptance speech at the Republican Convention… oh wait, that was opening night for the NFL season.

I care as much about the series as a lot of people seem to feel about the election. We all lose when sports takes center stage over the future of America.
