The Republican National Committee has taken out a $5 million line of credit to shore up vulnerable Senate Republicans and to keep Senate Democrats from winning a filibuster-proof 60 seat majority, a RNC official tells ABC News’ Teddy Davis. Of the $5 million, $2 million has gone to the National Republican Senatorial Committee and $3 million is going to "coordinated expenditures." With Barack Obama leading John McCain in the latest polls, and Democrats poised to pad their majority in the House where a simple majority is enough to control the agenda, the Senate is viewed by Republican strategists as perhaps the last best chance for the GOP to hold some measure of power. –George Stephanopoulos
