Biden Greets Virginia Voters on Election Day
EmailABC News’ Matthew Jaffe Reports: On Election Day, Sen. Joe Biden, D-Del., this morning greeted voters at a Richmond polling station in the critical battleground state of Virginia.
"Feeling good. Always feel good at the end of the race, but it ain’t over til it’s over, so we’re waiting til the polls close, right guys?" said the Democratic vice-presidential nominee.
"Absolutely," one voter responded.
"You gonna deliver Virginia for us?" Biden then asked the crowd of about 50 people at Montrose Elementary School.
Chants of "Yes we can!" rang out as Biden, joined by his wife Jill and Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine, made the unannounced visit, shaking hands, signing autographs, and posing for pictures behind the ropeline.
"Did you all vote?" Biden asked one supporter.
"Yes, sir!" came the man’s reply.
"Take a picture, make me famous," Biden told another supporter, who was having a hard time snapping a photo of the Delaware lawmaker.
"This is not hard, take your time," he said.
"Nervous – we’re doing history here," the woman told him.
Moments later, Biden removed his Secret Service flag pin from his lapel to place it on a 6-year old boy.
"That’s a secret service flag," he pointed out.
"Thanks for voting," Biden later joked to two young boys no older than 12.
Another supporter asked the senator to cross the ropeline, but Biden, who voted this morning in Wilmington, said he could not do so.
"Apparently they told me not to do that because I’d be tempted to vote again, you know what I mean?" he responded.
Before leaving, Biden stopped in the parking lot to visit with first-time voter Wayne Phillips of Richmond, who suffers from sickle cell anemia. Philips, 19, was too ill to make it into the polling station, so election officials brought the voting machine out to the parking lot so he could cast his ballot.
After about 20 minutes outside the school, Biden boarded his motorcade to return to the Richmond airport and fly to Chicago, where he will spend the afternoon doing satellite interviews from the Hyatt Hotel before heading to Grant Park late tonight for his rally with the man at the top of the ticket, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill..

I am so happy this is over. No matter who wins I only hope that we can finally move beyond these moronic culture wars that feature nothing but idiotic posturing. If the new administration and congress wants to really make history, actually get some real work done. Be done with the stupid photo-ops and obstructive stupidity of the last 18 years and just do some work.

Just an observation, beyond all the mud slinging:
1. Joe Biden sent his son to Iraq and suffered the loss of his mother-in-law during this campaign.
2. Sarah Palin sent her son to Iraq and cared for her newborn son with Down Syndrome during this campaign.
3. John McCain sent his son to Iraq, and Cindy McCain lost her step-sister during this campaign.
4. Barack Obama had one known and very real assisination attempt on his life revealed, and has lost his grandmother only hours before she could witness the outcome of this election.
And through all this, each of them “kept on keepin’ on”. No matter what happens, we have four very brave and resiliant individuals to be proud of, on either side of the isle.

Watch out for Repub-lie-can vote suppression. Several dirty tricks out there: flyers saying due to heavy turnout, the election will be over the course of 2 days, Republicans today, Democrats tomorrow; robocalls suggesting that if you have outstanding parking tickets you will be arrested at the polls; flyers in Spanish suggesting that if you vote, your relatives will be deported. Real nice, typical Repub-lie-can smear tactics.

Listening to the BBC here, and they are interviewing people outside of the polls in various places. One woman just said she voted for McCain because she just heard that Obama was going to start up something akin to the Gestapo.

If he does turn out to be a lemon (which I doubt). We will do just as you have been doing for the last 8 years. We will sweetened it and make great lemonade out of it but we won’t LIE and sell it as orange juice. No, I will not be a willing critic of his failed policies. I’m not going to set us up for failure. I will support him just as you have supported your failures in the past and as you continue to do so. However, what I will not do is stand by and wait for failure and as far as voting him out in 2012 I will cross that bridge if and when I get there. SUCCESS – How sweet it is. YES WE DID!!!!!!!!!!
My question to you is as he continues to prove his qualification and success will you sweeten your lemons or continue to be sour.
