Happy Birthday, Mr. Vice President-elect
In Chicago today, at Obama Transition HQ, President-elect Obama surprised the Vice President-elect, who will turn 66 tomorrow.
After their weekly lunch, Mr. Obama presented Mr. Biden cupcakes, Obama aides say. Here is a picture from the Obama Transition Team: Obama lit the candles on the 12 cupcakes and brought them over to Biden.
"You’re 12 years old!" Obama joked, referring to the dozen cupcakes.
"Maybe in dog years!" Biden laughed.
Mr. Obama led the staff in singing him "Happy Birthday," and then gifted his loquacious running mate with a Chicago White Sox Hat, a Chicago Bears Hat and a bucket of Garrett’s popcorn as gifts.

Did not our Greatest Leader say he was a Cubs fan?
What do you call that?

Maybe, Pres. 0bama was trying to distance himself from his VP. He is Cub fan, and VP is White Sox fan.
Posted by: Joe_Conn | November 19, 2008, 4:20 pm 4:20 pm
NO…he never said he was a Cubs fan. He’s from Hyde Park (i.e. – The South Side of Chicago). So by sheer location, he is by default a Sox fan. And he regularly wears a White Sox hat
No self respecting Cubs fan would dare wear the colors of the enemy.

Finally we have a president who is down to earth, intelligent and cool.

You call that a fat cat …

Blogger,
Ooooops. fat cat became too lazy lately – why it’s fat.

Obama has **always** been White Sox fan ….. and in Chicago you have to be one or the other, never ‘like them both’ (which is possible in New York).
Happy Birthday to (my prediction) the best Vice President this nation has ever had! (And yes, there have been some good ones, but Biden is a much more unique and special person that CW suggests. Glad Obama could see that.)

Smarmy remarks to insue I am sure. PE Obama is a nice guy and I think we can use a nice guy in charge for a while. And VPE Biden is a nice guy also, and I think he ENJOYS this sort of thing, so they are a fine match.

Chicago fans are dillusional if you really think you can like the Yankees. and the Mets. Thats sacreligious. Chicago isn’t half as fierce as New York!

It is a Chicago BEARS hat. The football team, not the baseball team…
Posted by: Kody | November 19, 2008, 6:03 pm 6:03 pm
Love the humble simplicity of it all–cupcakes, sports hats. Sweet. Thumbs-up @ Bonnie and Elizabeth. Biden IS special, with much knowledge, a sharp and analytical mind, and like Obama, the kind of life experience that sets your values straight. They are going to be one awesome team. Happy Birthday (tomorrow), Mr. Veep-Elect, go Joe!

He’s got it backwards. In dog years, you’re older than you actually are. I.e. 5 years human equals 25 dog years.
NOT READY TO LEAD!!!!
Posted by: PoopsMagee | November 19, 2008, 6:04 pm 6:04 pm
Huh? Biden said it not Obama. Even still it was a suggestion, not implying it was true. Plus, it is a 7 year ratio of dog/human age.
PoopsMagee NOT READY TO POST! :-P

When did Biden say that Obama will be tested? Did the No. 2 Al Qaidae just send something?
Are we prepared?

I’d like to see some changeS?
Where are they? I want them NOW?
Is it still change or it’s over now?
Posted by: Jen | November 19, 2008, 6:09 pm 6:09 pm
There is still hope for them both to become a Yankee fan. And yeah, they are both smart. A change after these 8 years

We want some change. Hope for change.
All we get is Clinton make over!

“We want some change. Hope for change.
All we get is Clinton make over!”
So right wingers realizing their reputation is mud will now pretend to be dissatisfied Obama supporters in order to hurl their invective.
Much as they pretended to be Hillary supporters or Democrats during the election.
For a bunch of tough talkers, you guys sure are cowardly.

I don’t know what half you posters are talking about.
For the record – Obama is a Sox (White, not Red)fan. He is NOT a Cubs fan. Repeat..Obama is a Sox Fan. In Chicago we call the White Sox “the SOX”.
Posted by: Christinex | November 19, 2008, 6:15 pm 6:15 pm
baseball’s great because you can hate a person based on the hat they wear, but still be able to have a drink with them.

“Did not our Greatest Leader say he was a Cubs fan?
What do you call that?”
That? I call “that” a sad lie by a right winger.
Obama is a White Sox fan and Chicago is along the lines of New York with a severe distaste for sports bigamy.

Some of you really need to get a life!!! All the man did was wish his Vice President a Happy Birthday with a couple of cheap gifts and the claws come out! Dang, get over it already!!!
Posted by: Dee | November 19, 2008, 6:17 pm 6:17 pm
Jen your snooty remarks are getting old we won you lost get over it. The republicans have put this country in the hole and it will take more than 4 years to get us out of it. The Obama/Biden team will try there best to get us out of it. Did you know that Bush spent over 42 million dollars on his Inauguration Ball unbelievable now if that isn’t waste I don’t know what is. When Obama made his exception speech he cancelled the fire works they were planning now that is a man that understands what the American people are going thru.
Posted by: EJ | November 19, 2008, 6:18 pm 6:18 pm
Is Bush gone yet? I can’t wait to roll up my sleeves and do something positive for this country. But, hope that’s it for the Clinton folks coming on board. Time for Change. Want to see Hagel, Richard Clarke in the mix. But, what do I know. Happy B-day B.

Obama NEVER said he was a Cubs fan – EVER. You people are delusional if you think otherwise.
Hey Joe – Happy Birthday; and I’m sure you loved that Garrett’s popcorn – the BEST there is!!

I;m glad they seem to get along.
On another note I keep hearing about Garrett’s Popcorn, anyone ever try it?

Isn’t this delightful? Obama didn’t tell his secretary to send a gift, he lit the candles and led everyone in song. This is a real person, people! We are SO lucky!

Remember what Obama said. Power corrupts but a good person can use that power while he is being corrupted by it.
The Clinton people he is choosing are the near NeoCons in the way they do their jobs. These guys can hit the ground running and get things done for Obama quickly. They have to get control of the trash Bush is leaving behind.
Bush is trying to put the Givernment so deep in debt and tie it up with grabage thay it can not function. With RNC loyalist deep in programs they will create havoc every chance they get.

Change is not always the people you surround yourself with. Change is the leader and what policies he impose. Just because he is using some Clintonians, does not mean business as usual. Give the man a break. The man has not even been inaugurated and people are complaining about changes he is suppose to make. Can he get his foot in office before all the yacking and complaining. Obama himself said before you see any changes it may take at least a term and there will be false starts. Can the man at least start. Let him get his foot in the door. Good grief people! I mean you can’t win for losing. People are never satisfied. My father always said never try to please people just please God because people are finicky. One moment they are for you and if you do something they don’t like, they are against you.

Happy Birthday Mr. Vice President Elect Joe Biden. We are so very grateful that you were chosen! We wish you many wonderful, healthy years to come.
As one person wrote, how nice President Elect Obama took care of the cupcakes himself and didn’t have a secretary do it. We pray for you both and your families that all will be safe.

Afther the birthday cake and singing, did they then rejoice together for having disabled the accountability mechanism when collecting campaign contributions via credit cards, and therefore having rasied millions of additional dollars without having to account for their source? Imagine a mainstream media who would actually report on this!
