Joe the Plumber Questions Obama’s Loyalty to the U.S.
"McCain has fought and bled for our country, loves our country," said Joe Wurzelbacher, aka "Joe the Plumber," who has campaigned throughout Ohio with and on behalf of Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz. "There’s too many questions with Barack Obama and his loyalty to our country. And I question that greatly."
Fox News’ Neil Cavuto tried to clarify: "You’re not doubting that he’s a good American. Or you are?"
"His ideology is completely different from what democracy stands for," said Wurzelbacher.
Does Sen. McCain approve of this? I have asked and will get back to you.

I used to support Sen. Obama, but the mainstream media is just out to get this guy! They crop and edit, splice and combine a lifetime of videotape so they can get 30 seconds to make him look like he’s attacking someone else’s patriotism. What about the other part of the story, ABC News. The Obama machine went into overdrive digging into this man’s tax history, welfare history, and child-support history (he’s a single parent), and when they found out he was clean, they attacked him for not being a real plumber because 1) he doesn’t have an Ohio plumbing license and 2) Sen. Obama and Sen. Biden stands on that stump, attacking Joe the Plumber’s patriotism, cynically and mockingly rhetorically asking, giggling and shaking their heads that would make Comedy Central proud, “What kind of plumber makes $250,000 a year?” so, mainstream media, why do you hide embarassing material on the Obama campaign, such as Sen. Obama praising Palestinian terrorist Rashid Khalidi and cynically telling coal companies, “you can build them, but it will bankrupt you,” yet manufacturer controversial stories about the McCain campaign, such as the “Palin is stoking hate” story where someone allegedly said “kill him,” which the Secret Service, after intense investigation, found those allegations to be fabricated.

Why is Joe the Plumber still being representative of Americans? He has a background of domestic abuse problems along with tax evasion and no actual plumbing license. Fortunately, he’s not a typical kind of American guy, but a common kind of sleaze.

I think what Joe was trying to say — keeping in mind that he is not a professional wordsmith like our esteemed Jake the Journalist — is that the people of the United States, throughout its history, have never embraced a socialist ideology. The closest we came to that was in the late forties and early fifties when some war weary folks became enamored with the socialist propaganda coming from the Eastern Block countries, most notably the USSR. But even in spite of the heavy handedness of Joe McCarthy and J. Edgar Hoover, only a very small minority of people in this country sought solace in socialism. That, in a nutshell, is what Joe was saying in his own way.

Disagree, MM. I’ve seen too much evidence that the O-man thinks like a socialist and I believe that he will act on his inclination. What I wish most fervently is that he was allowed to develop for six or twelve years in the Senate. Then we would have a more complete picture of the man. As things stand today, there is too much at stake to take a chance based only on soaring rhetoric. But each to his or her own.

Wow, Tapper. “Does Senator McCain approve of this?” That’s all you have to say? Just a day ago, you found another way to bring up campaign finance with the Obama/Auntie story–now, here we have yet another campaign “surrogate” questioning Obama’s patriotism, including McCain himself, and all you can do is check with him about it?
Why not go into your usual diatribe about how this is wrong, and has no place in political campaigns. Why not critique McCain for breaking his campaign pledge of having integrity and sticking to the issues. Why not point out, that McCain is hiding behind Joe the Plumber to say what he likes without getting in trouble for it–just the other day, Joe was agreeing with a voter that if Obama were elected, it would be the death of Israel.
Oh, your not going to do any of that? Color me surprised, yet I am sure that if this story was at all connected to campaign finance, or one of Biden’s “gaffes” you would have plenty to say.

I dont know who Joe The Plumber really is, but I know who Andy Griffith is! Its hard to find a more revered and loved American than Andy Griffith. When I think of a true American I think of him. Andy Griffith stands for truth and wisdom, and has been considered a faithful veteran, and someone who would never support communism. Andy grew up when the world was under attack by nationalism, and then he was a part of our national fight against communism. Often during his show, The Andy Griffith Show he would teach us lessons on right and wrong, and what the true American way is. His son in the show, famed director Ron Howard is also considered an American icon, and someone you can trust to do the right thng for America. Ron and Andy have put their support behind Barack Obama for President, because they believe he represents the BEST for America. They would NEVER support someone who didnt love this country as much as they do, nor would they support someone who was a threat to us all. Lets all be like Andy Griffith and vote for Barack Obama! Lets make America the America that Andy Griffith believes in! Obama/Biden, as American as apple pie!

Yes, Mr. Tapper, please do ask McCain if he agrees with the questioning of Obama’s loyalty that’s going on here. Frankly, I find it offense and it reeks of a desperate campaign.
If Joe the Plumber, McCain and Palin keep up this questioning of Obama’s loyalty to America, it will ensure Obama’s election as President. People are sick and tired of these snide remarks about Obama’s patriotism. If Obama didn’t love his country, he wouldn’t be serving it…he’d be a high paid lawyer raking in the big bucks. Looks like McCain doesn’t think he can win on the issues so he’ll try to pull it out by throwing personal insults at Obama and Joe the Plumber is more than happy to oblige.
Joe the Plumber told Bill O’Reilly the other day that he didn’t like being in the spotlight. Oh really? I think Joe absolutely loves it and his getting a Nashville publicist to further his career (no, not his career as a plumber) is very telling.
All this starts making people wonder if Joe’s new career path isn’t some kind of quid pro quo for his Obama bashing.

That would explain his sudden appearance in Obama’s local rally, and why he is now speaking out for McCain. Has Wurzelbacher served time in the military? We might want to check out Samuel J Wurzelbacher much closer to determine who planted him in that Ohio crowd, and where he is really from. Smells like a moose to me. Palin or McCain?

Let Joe be Joe, people! I, for one, would have missed him dearly had he disappeared soon after his appearance. Joe, keep talking buddy. Don’t stop until all the polls close and I promise to buy your first record. As the saying goes, you can look through an open mouth and see an empty head.
jcarob,
easy now. That’s one big nutshell you got there. But I believe Joey has a TN based spox person (or something like that) and is not in need of your services.
However, though, the real issue is John McCain’s demonstrated tendency to not only lurch around (as the Dems would say) but also latch on to any nutty-minded idea (in this case the parade of JTP. Suspending campaign and choosing Sarah Palin in the past) without much consideration to consequences. Does that now worry people even in the least? Have we not been taught that we are responsible for our actions. Consequences, people, consequences.
So, Lisa, when Sen McCain heralded JTP not just as “some kind of a hero” but his actual hero (he said “my hero”), he should have been considering the consequences of putting so much credence to a man he hardly knows. It really makes me wonder about how thoughts are processed in the Sen John McCain mind.
And, Jcarob, Obama’s “soaring rhetoric” puts me to sleep. It’s his policies that I am a fan of.

And the loose cannons only continue to get looser. While I am loath to pass judgement, the most telling thing about a man is the company he keeps. While Obama may have known Jeremiah Wright and had a passing acquaintance with Bill Ayers, McCain has consistently trumpeted the ill-informed, reckless, hyperbolic, ignorant, vitriolic, and asinine rhetoric of people like “Joe”, Sarah Palin, and Sean Hannity. A campaign built on distortion and run as dishonorably as the Republicans have run theirs will neither achieve nor deserve the office they seek.

McSame is proud of people who refuse to pay their taxes, they deserve jail time because it is illegal to cheat on the US taxe rules. McSame is calling himself a patriot because he was stupide enough to be one of the firts casualties in early hours of the Vietnam war and he is trying to superexploit that mistake by bringing this Joe the plumber who has to answer to the US legal systems. Not this time, US needs a president with high IQ not a president with a very low IQ like McSame.

Joe symbolizes the electorate that has the irrational fear of diversity or someone that is different. They seek their paranoid conspiracy theories to justify their irrational claims and seek to spread that fear so they don’t feel alone…. I feel sorry for you.

Yeah, Marxism and socialism are different for America and not what this country was founded on. There is nothing wrong with diversity, I do however, take exception to policies and positions that will harm this country.
The fear that has spread across America at the thought of Obama being president comes from Obama himself. Everyday, there is a new unsavory character that is connected to Obama.
Past judgement is a reflection of future judgement.

Are Samuel the Celebrity’s unpaid taxes state or federal?
If federal, that means he didn’t pay his share to support the military, which receives a considerable part of the taxpayer’s dollar.
And in my book, that would make Samuel the Celebrity, not Obama, the disloyal one.

I hope that the Democrats win a huge majority in government. That’s the only way that all of the damage that Bush and his ilk can be undone. The gop has no clue how much of the Constitution the Bush team has trampled on in the last eight years. We will get the hell out of Iraq. If it had been a just war we would have WON years ago. We all have that authority in the US. It is one of those simple freedoms – freedom of speech. Joe the plumber has it and uses it when he sees things he does not agree with.

Two examples of Socialism that Obama plans to do:
“Spread the Wealth” came out of Obama mouth and is Marxist in nature. Basically, earn over $250,000 with your blood, sweat and tears, only to have to give away so Obama can give it to someone else who doesn’t have the ambition or drive that you do. It is not the American way. It goes against everything that immigrants come to this country for. (like Tito the builder)
Fairness Doctrine will be enacted which basically silences the voice of dissent (In essence, the voices of Rush, Hannity, Beck, etc.. will all be silenced) You may like that, however, that is socialist in nature and is against the 2nd amendment. Countries like Cuba, North Korea and Iran do not allow anyone in the media to speak out against them, this would be dangerous to America and goes against our constitutional rights.

OBAMA and his family as are loyal to the great USA as Bin-Laden was on 9/11/01. His wife isn’t proud of our country, his priest hates white America, his aunt came in here illegally and is MOOCHING off of MY HARD EARNED TAX DOLLARS! As an American and taxpayer, I am outraged that Obama can stand a chance at being our commander in chief. How can someone whose own wife admits she isn’t proud of her country be allowed to take charge of us? How can a man whose spiritual leader would like to see white America fall be allowed to rule?
Obama is only running for President in order to boost himself. He really does not care about the fate of America. Or maybe it’s not that he doesn’t care, it’s just that he doesn’t know how to help fix the problems. Obama has no real plans of his own. Everything is borrowed or shall I say, STOLEN from others. Heck, he even says McCain’s plans are better than his.
And what about his VP? Could he have picked a bigger idiot? It seems like every time Biden opens his mouth, he says something stupid. People, is this REALLY someone you want as a VP or possibly PRESIDENT? Biden and Michelle Obama are probably the dumbest members of Barry’s campaign. Every time they open their mouths, they say something idiotic. The only smart thing Biden ever said was that Obama isn’t qualified to be President. Mr. Biden, I would like to extend an personal invitation for you to come campaign for McCain! We’d love to have Joe the Plumber and Joe the Idiot on our team.
If Biden left, it would open up a spot for Jake to get a gig in Obama’s administration. Good thing there are vacancies in the janitorial department. That is your ultimate goal, right Jakie? You can’t REALLY be this blind and naive, right? Don’t worry though Jake, your secret is safe with me. I won’t tell anyone, especailly anyone on the Internet!

How can raising taxes on the wealthy to the same rate they were under Clinton be socialism? It just doesn’t make sense.
Joe the plumber doesn’t make sense to me. And using him as an example of the average working person is just silly. The average working person is not concerned with taxes going up slightly on those who are wealthy. They are concerned with paying their bill and keeping their job and house.

A person can still be “loyal” to the United States while wanting to change it to the USSA. Socialists don’t necessarily want to destroy America; many of them honestly believe THIS time it will work, even though it has failed in every country which has tried it.
It’s America’s turn to try. My wife and I are in our 70′s and thought we’d be dead before the inevitable happens. We’ve always known this would eventually be a Socialist country; we just thought it would take a little longer.
But here we go, and it’ll be quite a ride! Like a roller-coaster with no uphill sections. Whoopee!

It’s a done deal, and has been for weeks or months. And the funny part is that Obama’s crew did not NEED to “fix” the election in several states. He could have won honestly, just by a slightly smaller margin.

An example of Obama using the Fairness Doctrine already is the interview with WFTV’s Barbara West, they didn;t like her questions so Obama banned the TV station from future access and interviews.

Still no proof. Another accusation. Prove the accusations first before moving on to more. I still don’t see the Fairness doctrine in Obamas plans. Obama believes in capitalism just like everyone else and capitalism is built on the middle class and it fails when he don’t have one. But I guess ECON 101 escapes you at the moment. That is why Obama and Reagen happen to agree on tax policy.

The best thing about the “change” which is now upon us is that it makes dying MUCH more attractive for us dinosaurs.
Those old-timers who say “I feel sorry for the children” should stop worrying. The kids have been taught for years that capitalism is evil and socialism is good.
The younger generations never knew the freedoms we enjoyed when we were their age, so they won’t “miss” those times, when there were half as many people in this overpopulated mess.
To younger citizens, government control from womb to tomb is perfectly normal and natural.

Teaching socialism is not necessarily unAmerican. Most leftists actually BELIEVE it will work and make things somehow, magically better.
I don’t think socialists want to destroy America. Most socialists are sincere, and I cannot call them unpatriotic.
I just don’t happen to agree with them; that doesn’t make them bad people.

It cost money to take the plumber’s test, and more money to keep up license. Since Joe The Not Plumber hasn’t paid his back taxes, he is barred from taking any tests until he pays his back taxes, Ohio state law.

I have never met a liberal that believe that. The majority don’t want a socialist system because it deprives us of our freedom. But I guess you’ve never met many liberals. Stereotypes are something aren’t they.

Yes, MM… I suppose you think I’m a “woodchuck”. I see you’re reverting to insults, but I’ll respond anyway. I only went to college for one year (flunked two out of 5 subjects), and my IQ was measured twice: 130 (average, not genius).
Of course, my grandfather and father both made their living in politics and both won the Pulitzer prize, but then I cannot be expected to have absorbed any political knowledge just because I grew up immersed in it.
As a former manager and roadie for rock bands and a DJ for 20-some years, I never met any liberals, according to you. NOW who is making the stupid statement?! Jeez!

Gosh, Joe, don’t delude yourself. You haven’t a clue what socialism and Marxism really means, don’t go tossing them around like you did in a previous interview to fear-monger and act like you do.
What has Obama done, Joe? Fighting for your country is indeed an honourable way to serve your country, but it’s not the only way, and it’s just wrong to say that someone who did not serve in the army is somehow, less patriotic. Obama has supported the GI Billthat gives funding to troops that come home for their studies. McCain opposed it.
Please stop making a fool of yourself, you will look silly on November 5th.

Murdoch, I understand what you’re saying. What you described are symptoms of McCain’s misguided, disorganized campaign.
As for being a Republican… I WAS. In fact, as an active member of our state Republican Party, I was being groomed to become a state legislator a few years ago. That was until the party chairman found out I am an atheist. I was told in no uncertain terms that the party would NOT support me if I ran for office.
Of course, I quit the GOP, state and National. It has become the National Theocratic Party.
But I’m still not a Socialist, and never will be.

Grey Matter, why are those who support socialistic philosophy so reluctant to use the word? Are they ashamed of it?
Socialism is a legitimate form of government, and is nothing new. I personally don’t believe it will help our country, but I also know it’s here.
Maybe this time, we CAN get it right, even though other countries have had little long-term success with it.
When I say Obama is a Socialist, it is not an insult, it’s a description. Why make it a “bad word”?

When Joe the Plumber pays his taxes he will have earn the right to talk about loyalty to the U.S.
Posted by: Cyndi | November 2, 2008, 9:43 pm 9:43 pm
Rhys,
I’m not saying it’s a bad word, but I guess it’s because the way many people who are screaming socialist tend to view the word, I’ve gotten used to that. They’re all thinking Socialism = Socialist country = Soviet Union = Communism and all that kind of stuff (Joe the Plumber thinks that way too).
But even then, Obama has some more left-leaning policies, but I don’t think that makes him a socialist. Socialism would call for nationalization of practically everything. I mean, in my opinion, tax credits are hardly “spreading the wealth” (our whole tax system is actually basically a socialistic-principled one), the upper-income still keep their houses, the rest of their money. Left-leaning, yes, but not exactly socialist.
I don’t know, actually even the ticket from the right has been leaning left. McCain suggested the government should bail out bad mortgages. Palin took the oil money and gave it to her citizens.
To me, I’m not worried that Obama obviously has liberal policies- he seems to have concrete ideas and will be able to carry them out competently. I think McCain has been pretty erratic, and I do not think he has the right judgement, and Sarah Palin is woefully inadequate to be the Vice-President, or God forbid, the President.

Wrong again. Obama has been the most look at candidate this entire election. He has received more smears and attacks then any other candidate. Time and time again Obama has proved himself to the country. No one is in the position to question his loyalty to the country, not even John McCain. It is un-American to do such a thing.
Posted by: MM | November 2, 2008, 9:47 pm 9:47 pm
McCain has been a socialist since birth. His dad was military, McCain was military turned Senator for over 26 years. McCain has been on the government payroll all his life, which is paid by taxpayers. Communist Rupublican Right Guard regime as McCain is supports distribution of wealth to the rich and rich corporations, and next would be to Communist members, and those who aren’t in the party must give all their income and possessions to the Communist Party. Palin only knows government payroll also since she has been PTA President, Mayor, Governor and wants to be VP of government, which is socialistic, since taxpayers pay the bills and expenses of the United States of America government. Know your facts on socialism, and McCain.Palin’s Communist Republican Right Guard regime. Rovian world domination of skinheads card carrying Communist Republicans.

Do you know what “Democracy” means? Demos- Greek for people. Rule by the people. Elected officials. Freedom of speech. Equal rights. The whole nice bunch. A system of GOVERNANCE.
Do you know what “Socialism” means? It’s more of an economic philosophy, not a system of governance. It’s antithesis would be capitalism.

Why is ABC passing on these ignorant comments from an individual who lies about his credentials (i.e., no plumbing license), his patriotism (owes back taxes), and even his name. Has Joe-the-Not-A-Real-Plumber served in the US military? Has he served his community or country in any way? I haven’t heard that he has. So maybe Joe-the-I-Want-to-be-a-celebrity needs to keep his uneducated opinions to himself. No one with more than 1 neuron sparking really cares what this guy thinks.

So Karma, you think Homeland Security would allow terrorists in our government? You are so ill informed. McCain, Obama, and Biden already have clearance to be in U.S. Senate. It’s not against the Constitution to have a difference of opinions. In fact, that is why the Founding Fathers made such a complexed tier of goverment: Executive, Legislature, Judicial. Then, they made the votes to pass to be a majority, or to override a veto a marjority.
Did you finish high school, or take any history or government classes? Maybe you should take a refresher course since 9.11 changed the course of background and criminal checks on government employees.
Homeland Security is the police of clearance, and they have done their checks and rechecks, guaranteed. In fact, Watergate had so much to do with our current background and criminal checks. Cheney and Rove were in the Nixon administration during the Watergate investigations. I need not to say more.
McCain visits communist Vietnam. Need I say more.

So Grey Matter:
You think taking from a social program Medicare and Social Security to give $5000 insurance credit isn’t socialism? Medicare and social security are socialism programs that McCain is now receiving. So, rob Peter to pay Paul is the way you solve 2 wrongs to make a right? McCain is proposing to cut Medicare and Social security (both socialism), and create a social program (insurance credit socialism), and create a deficit for seniors. These are our parents and grandparents, possibly even you who are receiving these social programs. When they have cuts, who pays for their bills? You and I do or will, and all with a $5000.00 credit.
My current health care premiums are over $6000.00 annually. My family deductions are $7500.00 and my out of pocket is $4000.00, totalling $17,500.00 annually. I’m still $12,500 short with McCain, and I have to add my parents and grandparents to pay their remaining balances that were cut from their Medicare and Social Security benefits. Where’s the logic in that when you are taking from one social program and creating another one with the same socialistic funds. That is kiting, which Phil Gramm should know about. It’s creating money from other sources to creat pyramids of not real and not backed funds. It’s still the same money from social programs. It’s illegal.

The Wurzelplumber is related to Robert Wurzelbacher. Robert is the son-in-law of Charles Keating, of the Keating Five Scandal. Robert did 40 months for his part in that S&L failure. McCain was one of the five senators accused of corruption in that scandal.
Some say Samuel Joseph is the son of Robert, but I have not confirmed that.
There are now quite a few Wurzelbachers, mostly still in the same area of Ohio where the family originally settled around 1900. I believe they are all related, because I found no others living here at that time.
This guy is so obviously a plant that he should sprout leaves.
There seems to be a Wurzelbacher living in Alaska, and Joe could have visited him.
If they want to be crooked, they could at least try to be smart about it. Only a really arrogant dummy would have tried this.

Democrats claim to love free speech but the responses on this page surely point out the biggest problem with the left; if someone disagrees with you mock, insult, and degrade them until everyone who doesn’t agree with you is afraid to speak their minds. Posted by: Gig51 | November 2, 2008, 10:34 pm 10:34 pm
Oh really, we aren’t a capitalist country. Our trade with England was lumber, whiskey, and slaves. That’s how we made money. Then we started growing cotton and tobacco, and had indentured slaves in the north. Then we homestead on ranches and farmland in the 1800s, and started the industrial age in the late 1800s, and had Communism in the early 1900s which led up to empty paper McCarthy, and post WWI, we started capitalism in the late 1970s, to bring about deregulation in corporations, telecommunications, banking, financials, energies, and now we are back to sociocapitalism, where two systems work better than just one. Government will alway be socialistic, and capitalism is funded by employees who work for government, corporations, and individuals. No government is 100% free of socialism, never, not going to happen ever.

Wow. This is the “Hope is Change” message? Not one person on this blog has called this hateful comment exactly what it is: crap. Regardless of the answers to these questions, they dno’t change the initial comments, or Obama’s response about spreading the wealth.
What I worry about with an Obama presidency is not the man Obama himself so much (although his leanings are definitely heavily socialist, if you read – well, anything he’s written or said his entire life dating back to his early Chicago days). No, what I worry about is that the hateful people here will be the people in charge. Mind police whose first thought is to attack anybody who dares to question the power structure. Fairness Doctrine, Open Voting for Unions – you name it, the writing is on the wall for a real trashing of the liberties of individuals.
Another fine comment: “Why is Joe the Plumber still being representative of Americans? He has a background of domestic abuse problems along with tax evasion and no actual plumbing license. Fortunately, he’s not a typical kind of American guy, but a common kind of sleaze.” Kat
Tax evasion? No, it’s a lien from not paying taxes, not tax evasion. If you actually owned a business, you’d understand the difference. There isn’t a single document anywhere espousing that Joe had any sort of domestic violence problems.
And of course, more importantly: even if any of Kat’s hateful diatribe were true, it wouldn’t matter. The question is valid, and frankly if a felon on death row or Sister Theresa herself asked the question, it wouldn’t be any more or less appropriate.
Yes I worry; is Obama going to take more money from those who work and pay taxes and give it to those who do not? This is the essence of redistribution, and if he gains office, you’ll see that $250,000 “floor” drop right out from under your feet – some news reports are already saying the number is dropping to $120,000 and will drop further.
http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/10/31/low-richardson-pegs-middle-class-making/
But even more, I worry about the people who populate the Internet blogs – the hateful fascists in Liberal clothing, demanding that in order to have libety we must all think as they do, speak as they do, act as they do, and never, never, never question. These are the people happy to have voted in the Obama/Pelosi/Reid troika. In a sick spin on Voltaire, these folks will not only disagree with your opinion but will fight to the death your attempt to have one.
I get the surreal image of a gigantic Barack Obama swaying in front of giant Roman columns festooned with “Hope is Change” banners, and a tiny, shrunken Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid scurrying behind democratic blue drapes, as the giant Obama thunders “PAY NO ATTENTION TO THE SOCIALISTS BEHIND THE CURTAIN!”

I was struggling to find the right words to describe what bothers me to no end – a total inability of everybody to make the liberals stop talking over everybody and using the method of intimidation to win. What a poor quality of character. Sadly, birds of a feather flock together, or also the fish stinks from the head.

Janice said:
In your search of hate mongers, see McCain/Palin.
Why, Janice? How have they hated? By questioning the associations of a man who would be president of the United States? My God, woman, we should ALL be questioning this man’s motives – and those of Biden, McCain and Palin! Please, feel free to complain about Palin’s connection to AIP, but at the same time, explain to me why you want to elect a man with ties to Ayers, Wright, Flegler and Khalidi. You see, I don’t mind the truth. I don’t consider vetting the candidates to be hateful.
No, the only hate is the vitriol spewed against a man who asked a simple question, and got attacked by the vicious thugs that make up the “Hope is Change” mob – including their MSM lapdogs. The point that is missed by the fascist-left is that you should not have to fear the Inquisition if you just ask a question of your elected officials (or those who would be elected). It’s amazing how much we know of Joe the Plumber, and yet that same massive machine never told us about Obama’s aunt living in the country illegally. Now THERE’S some heavy vetting.
And by the way, please don’t trot out the tired rhetoric about the “Kill Him” shouts – that has been debunked by a secret service agent who was there.

How about the fact that two Kentucky students are being threatened with expulsion and criminal charges for hanging Obama in effigy, but that a Californian who hung Palin in effigy was simply passed off as a “Halloween prank”? To me, it’s the bias, the hateful, cruel bias that you and your cohorts show on a day-in and day-out basis.
In the long run, though, I’m not too worried. You may have purchased a couple of years of power, but my guess is that as soon as the emperor is shown to be as naked as the hatred of his followers, the normal, good-natured, God-fearing, neighbor-helping, family-loving middle class of America will come to its senses and the Grand Liberal Experiment will end – first with a complete recapture of Congress and then an easy ouster of a single-term lame-duck president.

Unloyal:
The right wing of the Republican camp thinks can demonize Democrats and liberals as unloyal, communists, socialists, terrorists, racist, white haters, america haters, family haters, media darlings, immigrant facilitators, etc.
It’s what’s been done to Senator Obama – half the time by the McCain/Palin team, the other half by their right wing ‘supporters’.
It’s such a transparent and pathetic strategy, and it is the worst of American politics.
How sad.

“Joe the Programmer. Those are facts (tax evasion, domestic abuse, unlicensed) about Joe the Plumber, someone you apparently hold in high esteem. A statement of facts is not a diatribe.
Posted by: kat | Nov 3, 2008 12:18:26 AM”
See, here is the fascist-liberal attack-dog mentality in full bloom. Distortion combined with a general lack of knowledge.
“Tax Evasion” is defined as attempting to avoid paying taxes by illegal means. While Joe may be behind on his taxes, like tens of thousands of Americans (we all know someone with money problems), he has never been accused of illegally attempting to evade taxes. Please point to a fact – any fact – backing up this fallacy. Until you do I’ll call this Lie Number One.
Moving on… domestic abuse. Where did you get that one? Because part of his divorce decree asked for funds for women’s shelters? That happens to be standard in many counties. No criminal complaint of domestic violence has ever been filed against Joe the Plumber. We’ll call this Lie Number Two.
On to the only piece of truth in your entire post. Joe is unlicensed. OMG! He doesn’t have a license! Do you happen to recall where exactly he said he DID have a license? Let’s call this Misdirection Number One.
So, two outright lies and one misdirection – this is the Fascist-Liberal technique that truly frightens me. It’s bad enough that the Democratic nominee has trouble with being honest and open, starting with matching funds at the beginning of the election and leading up to the fact that his aunt is in the country illegally. Or that we know almost nothing about his real politics until some poor shmuck happens to ask him a question that his handlers weren’t prepared for.
No, the thing that Americans should be afraid of is that if the munt’s and kat’s and janice’s of the world ever do get power, we won’t be allowed to ask questions. Instead, it will be attack, attack, attack, misdirect, lie, cover up.
Wake up Vonnegut, the firemen are coming!

“and yet that same massive machine never told us about Obama’s aunt living in the country illegally”
Typical right-wing red herring. You jokers have nothing left, so you have to pull BS like this out of your keysters as a last ditch effort to woo a few voters. Unfortunately for your kind, this was all they could come up with, and it didn’t do SQUAT. Furthermore, do you even bother to read full articles? All the information about this thus far has been unclear; her status is unknown. And what in HELL does this have to do with the issue of him running our country? Get over it already.
“How about the fact that two Kentucky students are being threatened with expulsion and criminal charges for hanging Obama in effigy, but that a Californian who hung Palin in effigy was simply passed off as a “Halloween prank”? To me, it’s the bias, the hateful, cruel bias that you and your cohorts show on a day-in and day-out basis.”

“There’s not a single document espousing that Joe had any sort of domestic abuse problems…”
But yes, Joe there is. Joe the Plumber was accused of domestic violence by divorce papers filed in 1997. Anyway, part of the court costs included in the divorce for Joe were charges from the Battered Women’s Shelter.
Try some civility,Joe, when you disagree, rather than accusing others of diatribes and lying. Your’e reflecting quite well the divisiveness of the McCain campaign.

“The Ohio plumber, whose real name is Samuel Wurzelbacher, agreed with a McCain supporter who asked him if he believed ‘a vote for Obama is a vote for the death of Israel’.”
This fellow Joe believes ‘a vote for Obama is a vote for the death of Israel’.

Joey said: “DT You love Joe the liar , I hate people like you that act as if all he did was ask a question.”
You don’t get it, do ya, Joey? If you put down your hate goggles for a minute you might understand what I’m saying.
The fact is that it doesn’t matter who Joe the Plumber is – he could be as wonderful as Oprah or as evil as Hannibal Lecter. He has a right to ask a question without fear of people trying to rip his life apart. Now, by “stomping” for McCain, he does put himself in the public eye and so his background is fair game. But – and this is the part you Joe haters are all missing – no matter what Joe’s personal background, it still doesn’t change the most important point: Obama’s answer.
The spread the wealth concept is clear and simple and you either agree or disagree, and you either vote for it or against it. That’s the American way.
But dragging someone through the muck just because they dared to ask a question, that’s as anti-American as it gets. And your seething hatred is what scares me even more than a President who is farther left the FDR – and that scares me a lot!

“There’s not a single document espousing that Joe had any sort of domestic abuse problems…”
Kat said: “But yes, Joe there is. Joe the Plumber was accused of domestic violence by divorce papers filed in 1997.”
No Kat, he was not. There was no implication of abuse in that divorce decree of any kind. Please identify the exact line in the document that charges Joe with abuse. Until then, you are simply passing on lies.
“Anyway, part of the court costs included in the divorce for Joe were charges from the Battered Women’s Shelter.”
Again, not true. The court papers in question simply show 3% of the court costs being applied to the county battered women’s shelter, a common practice in many divorce courts. Here’s the total breakdown:
COST APPLIED TO : CLRS (10000140) 3.00
COST APPLIED TO : LEGAL NEWS (10000130) 10.00
COST APPLIED TO : SHELTER (10000260) 32.00
COST APPLIED TO : COURT COSTS (10000100) 30.00
COST APPLIED TO : BATTERED WOMEN (3%) – COUNTY (10000230) 10.00
COST APPLIED TO : COMPUTERIZATION (10000250) 10.00
COST APPLIED TO : SPECIAL INVESTIGATION (10000190) 50.00
COST APPLIED TO : MICROFILM (10000210)
This is just where the filing fees go, not some sort of criminal action. My God, you people are unbelievable. This is the future of America…
Kat said: “Try some civility,Joe, when you disagree, rather than accusing others of diatribes and lying. Your’e reflecting quite well the divisiveness of the McCain campaign.”
Once again, the liberal-fascist monologue: if I dare to question you, if I point out the lies in your statements, I am divisive. Gotta call bullscat on that, Kat. Your story is completely false, and I’ve proven my side of the argument. If you continue, you’re lying, and now it’s not just out of lack of knowledge – which makes it even worse.

this could be a little watergate in the making.
i would not put anything devious past the bush adm.
nor would i put anything put anything past the mccain campaign-he wants to win so bad.
mccain wants to win by hook or crook.
just so he wins.

Oh, say it ain’t so Joe? You aint loyal to America or Ohio or Toledo? Oh, no!!!
No Ohio Plumbing license? That’s not loyalty to Ohio that we can believe in!
Your boss is also unlicensed? That’s not loyalty to Ohio that we can believe in!!
Delinquent in your property taxes? That’s not loyalty to Ohio that we can believe in!!!
Joe, your lifestyle of FREEDOM in America depends on meeting your RESPONSIBILITY as an American, as an Ohioan, to follow the laws, to pay your taxes, and to register and license your business according to the laws.
To shirk your responsibilities puts additional burdens on all other Americans and Ohioans – limiting THEIR freedom – and puts other businesses that follow the law at a disadvantage.
To shirk your responsibility and disobey the law is ANARCHY. So, Joe it seems like you are an ANARCHIST!!!!

Thanks, goto.
If Obama wins, I’ll pray that he does a good job. He seems a nice enough guy, and he has some ideas – I don’t agree with them, but if he wins the election he gets a chance to try some of them out.
But I am scared – oh, so very scared – that this will somehow legitimize the nastiness we’ve seen from the Obama fanatics. Not that we don’t have our own – Hannity shouts folks down, and El Rushbo is as loopy on some of his digs as the most vapid far leftie. But those are the radio airheads, paid to be shocking, and that’s to be expected.
It’s the rank and file, such as the folks who post here, who frighten me. When their hatred is punctured, there is nothing left.
This is what scares me the most: having the helm of America being manned by people without moral compass.

Last time (hopefully) that I make this point: what Joe does or does not do doesn’t matter – the question he asked and more importantly the nominee’s response are what matters.
Attempting to discredit a question by discrediting the questioner is as old a politicking trick as there is, and it stinks as bad now as it always has. It’s just been legitimized in this campaign, and specifically by the liberal-left and the MSM.

Fox New will continue to give Joe, not really a plumber a platform, because Murdoch is obsessed with Obama. At first he was intrigued by him, but now he wants to destroy him. Fox News/Murdoch has reported as fact the rantings of Andy Martin, a known “whackjob” as “fair & balanced reporting”. He even let Hannity do an hour long smear fest using Martin as a source. Obama has lived with these vile lies began by Martin in 2004 on the internet. The NY Times outed the guy as certifiable, anti-semitic and a serial bringer of lawsuits, who is now banned from that activity.
I wish Jake you and ABC would do an investgative piece on this. If Peter were still around or Ted at ABC I think they would have stood up and exposed these retched lies.
Jake you have traveled with Obama. Tell me do you think he is a Secret Islamo Facsist Terrorist, who wants to destroy our way of life? Jake why not take a stand against the lies.
Also please remind the McCain campaign that when Sam the skinhead is out there he is acting as a surrogate for them.
An the ask them what they think about the Sammy Davis Jr remark.

“Good Americans” pay their taxes, Mr. Wurzelbacher! Looks like YOU are in no good position to question the patriotism of others. Especially since you don’t present any evidence of Obama’s alleged lack of loyalty at all.

This fellow Joe the Plumber believes ‘a vote for Obama is a vote for the death of Israel’.
Does McCain want to allow this kind of nonsense fear mongering to be promoted? Did he not know any better?
Why did McCain invite this man to join his campaign and give him a national stage?

Joe the Plumber looks to be Ohio’s skinhead version of Joey Buttefuoco. All that is missing is the teenage girlfriend.
McCain’s decision to elevate this guy to a status where he now has a public platform yet again reflects on McCain’s poor judgment. If McCain were elected, his administration would be utter chaos.
McCain’s role in life is to be a gadfly, which McCain calls a “Maverick”. Gadflies try to influence the system from criticism from the outside. However, I cannot think of any that have had the ability to actually run anything successfully.

Obama is the type of person who very easily could run for a position with extreme Terrorists of other countries.
Just look at his past and his church to see what he is capable of doing.
Yes his patriotism is in doubt and he would be a traitor if pushed to it.

Let’s see. Last week, Joe agreed that Obama’s election would mean “death to Israel.” This week, Joe’s questioning Obama’s loyalty to America.
Joe (not a plumber, anti-social security, never in a position to buy a business, tax scufflaw) is certainly enjoying his fifteen minutes of fame.
Joe has hired an agent, is looking for a book contract, is interested in running for Congress, and wants to join a country music band.
I don’t think Joe’s income is ever going to reach the point where Obama’s “going to take his money away.”

I do truly get a kick out of this. “Gadfly”, “skinhead”, “scufflaw”. The skinhead remark is particularly telling of the poster – not a whole lot of tolerance there. Or maybe “not a plumber” as if that matters. Attacks against Joe, and every one misses the point – it’s not who said it, it’s what he said.
I think what I fear the most is not the hatred exhibited here, but the complete lack of any sort of coherent reasoning – it’s just hate, hate, hate. And unreasoned hatred is the underlying basis of all fundamentalism.
The Liberal party espouses inclusion and tolerance, and yet acts in complete xenophobia and hatred. I’m considering changing my name and my IP address to make sure the thought police don’t come after me next…

Who the hell cares what this idiot says? Oh, that’s right, he is McCain/Palin’s hero. This has gotten to be just ridiculous. John McCain should spend the next 4 years trying to regain whatever dignity he has lost during this campaign. It is sad to see this once proud man, literally grovelling for votes. He pick Joe from under the bus, and Palin from under the bus. You just wait, after the election, they will both throw him under the bus — anything to enhance their careers. What a sad, sad commentary for this once admired man.

Joe the Plumber is connected to McCain’s past. I do not think he was a “random” choice.
Joe’s brother is the son- in- law to Charles Keating.
Yes, that Keating the scandal that McCain was involved in. The biggest banking and loan scandal till now.
And speaking as a liberal and reading several of your comments, I’m struck by how things get twisted around.
I’m not demanding that you take anybodies lifestyle, religion or view.
WHat I would like is the freedom to be who I am.
Republicans, for all their insistence that they do not want government control sure are passing a lot of laws governing how people should act and what they can and cannot do.

Joe the Plumber, an individual with a very questionable background, has been elevated to a prominence he clearly doesn’t deserve. It angers me as an American that some in the media are elevating him to this status of an all american guy kind of spokesman, which fortunately, he clearly isn’t. The McCain campaign’s media debacle with Joe also embarrasses me as an American. Contrary to the more recently inspired xenophobia, we do have an international reputation to repair.

You … just … don’t … get it. I don’t care that he’s in the public eye, nor should you. You should be focusing on the *issue* – the Obama redistribution of wealth plan – and not on the person who happened to bring it up.
Again, even if Joe were a convicted murderer, it wouldn’t make his question any less valid, Obama’s answer any less frightening, or your attakcs any less hateful.
“Us saying Joe does not pay his taxes is not hate. But I guess you people can do anything and it is ok .”

You said he was guilty of domestic abuse. When I proved that wrong, did I hear an apology or retraction? No… just more hate.
While Obama may indeed want to unite the country, it’s pretty clear that those who follow him live on hate, and that’s what scares me.
And by the way, Joey, I don’t care if you personally didn’t say those things… they were said on this blog and not challenged by any of you, which makes you all complicit.

“There’s too many questions with Barack Obama and his loyalty to our country. And I question that greatly.”
There are a great many questions on Sen. Obama’s views on democracy and capitalism, but Democrats have put looking at their political beliefs off-limits because of how vulnerable they’ve been for so many years if viewed as “liberal.” While Fox, Rush and the conservative base get discussed, mocked and characterized as radical, the liberal base has for the most part been off-limits and off the radar. Hollywood is probably the only part of it that’s open to scrutiny because it’s so visible.
And Americans need to remind themselves what Marxism, communism and socialism are. They represent the loss of our freedoms, to the point of living under a one-party dictatorship. That we live in a country that protects us from the government shouldn’t be underappreciated. Communist North Korea is one of the worst dictatorships in the world. Recently I read an account of a North Korean woman, Soon Ok Lee, who was unjustly imprisoned. She had a good government job, but was arrested for not getting an official the clothing material he wanted, something that wasn’t uncommon. She never saw her husband again or even learned what happened to him. She was tortured for a long time before she finally confessed. In prison, atrocities were the norm. There were prisoners executed by having the thousands of other prisoners all walk over them. Others were executed just for sport. People were tortured just for laughing, or not being able to memorize Kim Il-Sung’s speech. This woman shared an infirmary cell with a former school principal who’d had red-hot stones placed on her legs to see if she really couldn’t feel anything. Her wounds weren’t treated and maggots got in them. The principal died; she’d been imprisoned for expressing concern for her students’ education. A mother found out her son had also been imprisoned when all the prisoners were called outside for an execution and she saw it was her own son who was to be shot. Prisoners worked as slave labor on little sleep and food and under brutal conditions. They could be brutally punished just for making even the smallest mistake. And when punished, they were made to say they’d betrayed the great care of Kim Il-Sung for them. This former prisoner also tells of a little North Korean girl whose uncle visited from American; she was taught to say to him: “My father is Kim Il-Sung, and my mother is the government.” There are not many of these accounts from former North Korean prisoners, but another one I’ve heard of, the Aquariums of Pyongyang, also tells of similar atrocities. The author was put in a prison camp with his family as a boy and tells of events such as at the “school” the imprisoned children attended, where nothing was taught, a teacher threw a child who spoke out of turn in a septic tank, which killed him.
Al Gore once made an interesting remark on his service in Vietnam, where he was a military journalist during the war: “I didn’t change my conclusions about the war being a terrible mistake, but it struck me that opponents to the war, including myself, really did not take into account the fact that there were an awful lot of South Vietnamese who desperately wanted to hang on to what they called freedom. Coming face to face with those sentiments expressed by people who did the laundry and ran the restaurants and worked in the fields was something I was naively unprepared for,” (“More Al Gore on Homeland Security,” Issues 2000).
What sort of freedom do the people of Vietnam have today under communism? Some have been put in prison for years just for things like speaking out against the government on the Internet or practicing their faith. Last month, the government cracked down on Catholic protesters (“Vietnam: End Crackdown on Catholics,” Human Rights Watch). When the Chinese set up a “protest zone” during the Olympics, it was empty. That’s what communism brings.

A series of articles from 2003, called “Crisis in the Koreas” (MSNBC) describes human rights abuses in North Korea and interviews both North Koreans I spoke of earlier.

ABC must want Obama to win, or else they wouldn’t be focusing on this intellectually challenged citizen.

Joe the plumber is a bigot and a racist – just like the VP-wannabe that he appears to have a crush on. Add to the mix the likes of Gordon Liddy – who, having hosted fundraisers in his home for John McCain – who, despite his public advocacy of violence against the US government – is someone that McCain shares a warped worldview. What you get is a dangerous possibility of right wing born again whackos subverting the US constitution and democracy and turning the US into a theocracy that dances to the tunes of crazies like Pat Robertson.
