EmailThis morning on "Good Morning America," Diane Sawyer asked me what I thought were the turning points of the campaign. Here are mine: For John McCain, I think you have to go back to Sept. 15, just several weeks ago when McCain said this: "The fundamentals of our economy are strong." That was as the financial crisis was just starting to unfold, and it cascaded through the month of October. Look what happened to the polls. On the day that McCain said the fundamentals of the economy were strong, the polls were split 47-46 percent for Obama. Since that crisis, since the debates, the polls have opened up to a nine-point lead for Obama. It’s been that way for the last several weeks. For Barack Obama, you have to go much farther back. It’s a tale of three speeches. #1: The speech in Oct, 2002 when he was just a state senator but he came out again the Iraq war. That gave him the issue against Hillary Clinton and all the other major Democratic candidates in the primaries. #2: July 2004. John Kerry makes him the keynoter, makes him a national celebrity. #3: Finally in March of this year, when his campaign was in peril because of his ties to Rev. Jeremiah Wright. Obama made that remarkable speech in Philadelphia about race and his own journey, and his relationship with Wright. That held his campaign together. A very key moment. –George Stephanopoulos

It is ashame that people ignore the signs of who Obama is about. If someone was a member of the Latin Kings for 20 years, never killed anyone and was running for president said that “my accosiations mean nothing” would we still vote for them if they were running for president???? They it looks is if you have a slogan of CHANGE, people still would.

The key moment is when the media decided it would elect the next president.
Just in case there may be someone that wants to live in denial over that, read the article above. Only thing said about McCain is a negative. Obama has 3 positive and one way back in ’02. So Steponallofus is nothing other than a cheerleader with pom poms and a skirt.
Nothing was sweeter than the look on his face in ’04 when his polls were wrong and Bush won. Priceless!!! I will be watching his face when he realizes his polls are still wrong.

A typical mainstream media news report favoring Obama. One comment by McCain that hurt him badly in September and three comments by Obama, each of which were favorable for him. I was sorry to see it. I have thought so much of George Stephanopoulos.

Stephanopoulus just announced “defining moments” for McCain & Obama. THIS IS HOW BIASED THE LIBERAL MEDIA IS!!! HE SHOWS A VIDEO OF MCCAIN SAYING OUR ECONOMY IS STRONG, THEN WITHOUT ANY VIDEO OF OBAMA, mentions Rev. Wright. I can get that kind of bias at NBC & CNN! You can’t even trust the liberal media, if McCain was to be ahead, they would spin it. It’s a disgrace.

Stephanopouos is true fake and phoney from the Clinton admin. The turning point is/was the medias total,total non vetting of the street organizer. They should all be shut down. Watch out America you are about to enter Jimmy Carter part 2 and you can thank the sick, sick media for it.

How about when McCain chose Palin? Or Captain No-Pork voted for the bailout with “sweeteners”? Or when he didn’t present what he would do and spent too much time on Ayers and socialism? I think the biggest thing that McCain did was let Bush screw him 2 times…in SC in 2000 and over the last 8 years.

Wrong, but typically so. Here’s the thing. You always ignore the context and just count the ‘positives’ and ‘negatives’. But those depend on where we’re starting from, on what’s going on. If someone starts high and drops, their key moments will be when they dropped. If someone else starts low and rises, their key moments will be when they rose.
Context is important to understanding.

So George Stephanopoulos thinks McCain has had only “one” defining moment and it was negative. And Obama’s were positive except for one negative that he opted to not review for viewers. I see George has joined the rest of the journalists that are infatuated with Obama. They can’t report without bias. Not only is this country headed for socialism, our press is becoming of one mind also. There is a tiny number of journalists out there representing the views of conservatives. Believe it or not, we are out here too!

I think George Stephanopoulos’ comments reflect the national trend of the race. That is, McCain is likely to lose. That being the case, if McCain does lose, then the defining moment is when he started to trend downwards and never recovered. Had McCain managed to reverse the trend, the defining moment might well be when the reversal occurred. Conversely, for Obama, it is the one event(or two, or three, in this case) which help to elevate him above McCain and for which he has never looked back. I don’t see a conflict here. I think that Stephanopoulos has been very fair in his analyses despite being an alum of the Clinton White House. And don’t forget he recently just got back into their good graces after writing that (somewhat) damning book.

The turning point: Palin flubbing the Couric interview. The McCain campaign could not afford the perception that Palin wasn’t intellectually up to the task of being President. So they shielded her from the press for weeks, building up the anticipation. Then on the Gibson interview she really looked out of her element, putting extra pressure on the Couric interview. And after the Couric interview, the McCain campaign needed to find a way to counter the perception that Palin wasn’t up to the task, and they never got there.

Why is it that it was OK to suffer 8 years under George Bush, but now it’s not OK to elect a Democrat? Come on people. George Bush had every opportunity to go down in history as a great president. Doug…..I totally agree with you. Obama is a media made candidate. They have covered up and made light of any and all associations, experience, accomplishments, etc. If McCain had the same associations as Obama the media would have been all over it. If you Obama supporters think the USA is so bad and want socialism and the government making your every decision then why don’t you just move to one of the countries that already has that practice. If Obama should win it will be interesting to hear all of you crying about all the taxes and big government in your life as you have never known it. Our forefathers that founded this nation must be turning over in their graves.

A key moment in the McCain-Palin campaign had to do with ABC News and other key media organizations turning a blind eye to John McCain’s close associations with Gordon Liddy – a convicted Watergate felon and a vocal advocate of domestic terrorism and violence against the US government. One can’t help wonder how the McCain campaign managed to buy off or browbeat the media into silence over the McCain-Liddy association.

Trisha:It is not over yet. The one thing we all can agree on is that we all decided that the majority decides, that is why we vote. So let’s realize that whoever is elected, we will all be looking to that person for answers whether we like them or not..Stop crying you big babies. I completely agree with you. The only difference is this time there will be no super delegates.

I hear that Joe the plumber and his buddies are really disappointed that their idol Sarah Palin is not likely to make it into the whitehouse. No moose burgers at state dinners! That is too bad. But Joe the plumber can take solace in the rumor that Sarah Palin is going to start a new university – the Sarah Palin University – where male and female bimbos of the right wing born again persuation can go to get training on all aspects of politics.

FYI Joe the Plumber was pulled over last night for driving 50 in a 35mph zone 11/4/8….no citation for good ole Joe tho….police claim it will draw negative attention….Republicans have not and will not ever claim responsibility for their actions….sad….some will vote to continue this kind of government….shame shame….Obama/Bidem08
