Kissinger Backs Clinton at State

At the World Economic Forum’s 24th India Economic Summit in New Delhi, India, former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger said of reports that President-elect Obama is considering Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-NY, as Secretary of State, "I believe it would be an outstanding appointment. If it is true, it shows a number of things, including great courage on the part of the President-Elect. To appoint a very strong personality into a prominent cabinet position requires a great deal of courage."

Kissinger said that "Obama was my second choice in the election. But at the same time, I want to stress that this is the moment for non-partisanship in America. There are a number of challenges that must be dealt with…I believe that the United States faces a moment of enormous complexity, but also a moment of extraordinary opportunity."

Recommendation from a de facto (not de jure, alas) war criminal? To me it sounds like a kiss of death !

All these articles and speculations and opinions are going to make it hard for Obama to pick anyone else besides Hillary.

We can live without the endorsement of the neocons’ principal spokesperson to tell us that nothing has changed.
We will get the same old, same old.

Do it Obama do it, you know you want to whether its to keep your eye on her or because you really want her as SOS you know you want her for that cabinet position.

Though more heads are better than one, I do not think Obama needs an endorsement/recommendation from anyone in order to make his pick.
Every individual used his/her own
head to pick the President they want, with varities of reasons, this should also be left for Obama to make his own decision.

Insiders are reporting the job is Hillarys if she wants it. I hope she turns it down so she can run again in 2012 for President.

“All these articles and speculations and opinions are going to make it hard for Obama to pick anyone else besides Hillary.”
This is one time I don’t mind the potential of media influence to affect political decision making. Can’t say I care for the alternative, Bill Richardson. He’s a nice guy, but wasn’t too articulate during the debates and interviews. He also strikes me as being on the dispassionate side, like Kerry. Internationally, speculation and I might add, hope, runs in Hillary’s favor.

I concur. Hillary would be an outstanding Sec. of State and a perfect fit for that post. It would utilize all her greatest strengths in service of the country. Clinton’s worldwide contacts, decades of experience and goodwill, and policy knowledge would be employed in the diplomatic world with the inspiration and guidance of Obama’s message and focus. A perfect combo.

Hillary is a power in the Senate to run the Country her way. She is in a good position to move into the oval office in 4 years.
She is in a vulnerable position in the Obama administration.
Bill Richardson (New Mexico) is a great man for International service.

How funny that some on the left attack Henry Kissinger for *supporting* Obama’s pick for SOS. Would you be happier if Kissinger criticized the choice?
Just a reminder, Kissinger was the last “successful” SOS. What he says does hold weight with many people. Study and learn from American political history.

Ah, Kissinger. Repeating your speech from the June 6th Chantilly Bilderberg conference? The one Obama ditched his press entourage for (locking them in a plane about to take off) so he could attend with you and SOS-elect Hillary?

Don’t do it, Barack! Hillary is smart, qualified, connected, and there would be some political advantages to naming her. But all of that is outweighed by the distractions and setbacks that would result by having Bill in the background. His financial dealings are bad enough, but who wants to amplify his every word and action and have those be entangled with the Obama administration? Unfortunately, it appears the die is cast now that this has been floated.

All the pundits, are speculating, that President,elect-Barack Obama, has offered Sen.Clinton,SoS position.Nothing is further from the truth, this matter did came about in their meeting, among other things.Obama,is one of the best tactician I have seen in politics. Thus, don’t believe everything you read.Remember, when McCain, asked Obama,to define tactic and strategy,Obama, retort,”John,I know the difference”.Yes,Obama, strategy won the presidency. The ball is now in Sen.Clinton,court.The world await her answer,so too,Obama.

Kissinger is a criminal and a blot on American history and American foreign policy – the intellectual author of the Pinochet coup, the bombing of Cambodia that led to the rise of Pol Pot, the prolongation of the Vietnam war for six years for crass political reasons… if Hilary does not disavow this endorsement, she is disqualified for that reason alone. Barack cannot run his own foreign policy with Hilary and her crowd at State.

Bill Clinton:
Why won’t you list the contributors to your presidential library? What are you trying to hide? Of course such undeclared information would have no bearing on your “wife’s” behavior as Secretary of State, right? How stupid and forgetful do you think the American people really are? Divorce the bum, then apply for the job, Hillary!

“Kissinger is a criminal and a blot on American history and American foreign policy – the intellectual author of the Pinochet coup . . .”
I know. It’s like getting an unsolicited endorsement from Bush or Cheney. Some compliments are best ignored.

Chances are it’ll be Hillary at State. But I think Richard Holbrooke is just as likely a candidate. He backed HRC for prez and holds key positions with the CFR, Trilateral Commission and Bilderberg Group. An investment banker by trade, he’s also been on the boards of AIG and Lehman Bros (hint, hint). And he’s been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize 7 times, to boot. He’s never held the top position at State, but he’s gotten close and has served as Ambassador to the UN. As the preeminent NWO, Establishment candidate, I’m giving Holbrooke a slight edge over HRC.

I don’t think Hillary should be named the sos. It would be like asking Bill. Too much of all in the family!!!!

Outstanding? how about horrifying but why not appoint MRS Clinton to another position where she can show she is no Bill Clinton. He, for all of his immaturity, is a gifted politician: she is his wife.

It does not surprise me that Kinsinger praises Hillary. All Republicans support her and with good reason. Hillary is a Republican. She is a real hawk. What surprises me is that Obama is chosing her as Secretary of State. Well I suppose he did not mean it when he promised to bring CHANGE into Washington. Most of his cabinet posts are given to right wing of Democrats or Republicans. Enjoy it…
