McCain Camp and RNC Launch Robo-Call on Fidel Castro’s Praise of Obama
ABC News’ Tahman Bradley Reports: The McCain campaign and Republican National Committee are running a last minute robo-call tonight attacking Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., for receiving praise from Fidel Castro today in a Cuban newspaper. The call is being specifically targeted toward Hispanic voters in Florida, Republican sources tell ABC News. Listen to the audio HERE.
In a column published in the paper Granma, Castro described Obama as "no doubt more intelligent, educated and level-headed than his Republican rival," Arizona Sen. John McCain.
There’s of course a national security element to this last minute Republican move. Obama said during a CNN/YouTube Democratic primary debate last year that he would meet with Cuba’s leader and the leaders of Cuba, Iran, Syria, Venezuela, and North Korea without preconditions.
The announcer on the call says, "This just in! I’m calling on behalf of John McCain to tell you that at 1:28 PM today, the independent news agency Reuters reported that Cuban Dictator Fidel Castro, endorsed Democrat Barack Obama as QUOTE "more intelligent AND CULTURED" than John McCain, the same as Huge Chavez, Daniel Ortega and Eva Morales. The Castro brothers prefer Barack Obama."
The call continues, "Don’t give Castro what he wants. Get to the polls now to vote for John McCain and stop Cuban-like policies in America. There are still a few hours left to vote today for John McCain. This call was paid for by McCain-Palin 2008."
Script translated to English:

It is what it is, no matter if Fidel said he’s staying “neutral”, his statement was a tacit endorsement of Obama!!!!!!

The news media would be motivated to vote for Obama had they gotten a robo call saying Castro endorsed Obama.
McCain in the interview tonight says he was happy to have run. Clearly acknowledging the loss.
The big loser is the media. They have lost all credibility. I will never watch any of those channels again.

The republicans should have run Romney. He was the only republican with the organizational chops to put on a good contest. That would have been an interesting race.
The republicans allowed themselves to be hijacked by McCain and that (I am censoring my speech) Huckabee.
I have come to think that we need a third party in the US. The Brits with their parliamentary form of government make a lot of sense. That avoid the mess where pandering wins – like in Venezuela.

The reason so many republicon candidates are trying to distance themselves from McShame and downplay the significance of an Obama/Biden win is because they fully understand that this will be a complete repudiation of the conservative policies they offer. So much for “Country First”… they cause nothing but destruction. Just like their negative posts on this blog they have nothing of substance to offer going forward.

Take a good hard look back at McCain and Palin. Do you think that is AMERICAN? Here’s a little tidbit the right forgot to tell you :
The Facts: The photo of Obama allegedly not placing his hand on his heart during the Pledge of Allegiance was actually taken during the singing of the national anthem. Obama has no problem reciting the pledge with his hand over his heart, as can be seen in these videos of him leading the Senate and a town hall meeting in Ohio in reciting the pledge.
The Echo Chamber: chain emails, NBC
Origin & Evolution: An email that began circulating in October 2007 falsely claimed that Obama “REFUSED TO NOT ONLY PUT HIS HAND ON HIS HEART DURING THE PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE, BUT REFUSED TO SAY THE PLEDGE” and showed a photograph of Obama standing in front of an American flag with his hands clasped in front of him. Beside Obama are Hillary Clinton and Bill Richardson, with their hands on their hearts. Another email also began making the rounds claiming, “Barack Hussein Obama will NOT recite the Pledge of Allegiance nor will he show any reverence for our flag.”
“The picture of Obama standing in front of the flag was snapped during the singing of the national anthem, not the Pledge of Allegiance, during a steak fry for Iowa Sen. Tom Harkin on September 16, 2007.
————————————
The Facts: According to Bill Burton, an Obama spokesperson, Obama sometimes places his hand over his heart during the national anthem, and sometimes does not. Indeed, there are photographs of him with his hand over his heart during the national anthem. Even though the U.S. Code states that “all present except those in uniform should stand at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart,” experts on U.S. customs say that the rule is no longer strictly followed. Anne Garside, director of communication for the Maryland Historical Society, says that “there is no obligation to put your hand over your heart” during the singing of the national anthem and that “the bottom line is that you show respect with your demeanor.”
The Echo Chamber: chain emails, right-wing blogs, Fox News Channel, Associated Press, The Obama Nation by Jerome Corsi (p. 255)
Origin & Evolution: An email began circulating in October 2007 asking, “Does this man not cross his heart when the National Anthem is playing, or when the flag is raised or lowered?” The email usually came with a photograph of Obama standing in front of an American flag with his hands clasped in front of him. Beside Obama are Hillary Clinton and Bill Richardson, with their hands over their hearts and all with their backs to the flag on stage, presumably facing another flag or the singer of the anthem offstage. The right-wing blog NewsBusters, in an October 20, 2007, post, noted Obama’s posture and suggested that it was a political statement: “Does he perhaps believe that, like wearing the flag pin, the hand on the heart isn’t ‘true patriotism’?”

I think leaders like Fidel Castro, Chavez or even Bin Laden are using a “reverse psychology” to pander to their base. They stay in power in their countries because they can generate hatred for the United States and when we elect leaders like Bush who makes statementslike “axis of evil” or “their counrty supports terrorism”.
These leaders, in order to stay in power, tell teir people that the United States wants to invade them or go to war with them or any number of absurd accuations as scare tactics. Their base falls for it and their people keep leaders like Castro or Chavez in power or it enable Bin Laden to recruit.
I don’t think the Castro’s or Chavez’s or the world want to talk with us. They want our leaders to keep giving their people a reason to keep them in power.

you know, there are reasons why the leaders of these countries that are “vile” and “evil” don’t like us. Maybe if we weren’t run by the likes of republican bully’s who try and dictate the actions and manners of other countries, just because we are one of the largest countries in the world doesn’t give us the right to move in on other country’s ways of life. Think about it, how would WE act if China tried to tell us how to conduct ourselfs. I’m just sayin, maybe Fidel realizes now that there is a better chance of communicating with us again. After all, we did try to assassinate him. Like some of my hispanic friends say “don’t trust gringo” if you don’t know what that term means ask a person of hispanic origin (if u know one). point is Fidel realizes we won’t have a country run by a thick headed idiot who doesn’t know how to use peaceful talks and negotiations to get what they want instead of invasions and bombs. Go Obama.

besides him being black, people tend to forget this man is a harvard graduate and frankly I trust his intelligence more then that of mccain or palin’s.

VA, NC, FL doesn’t matter now!!!
OBAMA WON!!!

Obama had the Black Panthers being “security guards” outside the voting areas in Pennsylvania…no wonder he go that state.

Yup, that 1 guy that the cops took away was soooooo scary!!
And how did they find out? A white guy walked past them, entered the building, voted, came back out and called the cops.
Next, we will have riots in the old folks home, and kids on the street wearing plaid shirts with striped pants.. the horror!!!
The sky is falling, the sky is falling…

IF Obama wins, he better do the right thing and keep ALL of the promises that he made.

thanx for the video link I’m a black obama voter and there are idiots on both sides of the voting line and that was TOTALLY unacceptable. They should have removed them with EXCESSIVE force. I can’t tolerate bullying and the incitement of fear on any level.

Or what Carrie? You going to stomp your feet and run crying to your room calling for your mommy? Would you not hold McCain up to the same standards as well? Of course, mccains proposed spending plans were over twice those of Obamas and he had absolutely no plans to increase revenue (actually, he proposed to decrease revenue even more than currently) to pay for them, so he would of been in a much worse position. But I guess some tend to overlook those pesky little details.

You are a funny bb and your ignorance truly shows by you beautiful word selection.
I just hope that whoever gets elected improves this country.
I have lived overseas many years and have seen that America has a tendency to be a bit on the superficial side and needs work on the substance.

Well I dont expect Carrie to be the only repuke to spew voter fraud cr@p. But thats the way it is, a population has a given % of morons but of course the republicans have a much much higher % of morons, nincompoops and cretins than the rest of the civilized world.

As for you Concerned American… that is fantastic that you are concerned.
Of course if McCain wins he should keep all the promises that he has made.

I’m so relieved. I’ve been the center stone of my family for years. Well, I just got to tell my Grandson that he can forget me being able to help financially with his college. I’d really love to but hey Obama promised you a college education and the money I would have gladly given to family will go to someone Obama feels needs it more. And hey, my daugher and son-in-law are loosing their home. Call Obama, he said he would help. Can’t wait for the “Universal Health Care” that of course will never come. So it looks like race or gulibility trumped commen sense and we can all look to listening to more Rev. Wrights and our children to Billy Ayers. I now can’t retire because of the projected capital gains he wants. I wrote on another blog that I bet Castro was laughing at us and low and behold, his endorsement of Obama came in. No surprise. Good luck to all you liberals, you got what you asked for. No whinning.

ABC just gave Obama the presidency.. the fat lady has sung. It’s just a matter of a couple more minutes until the rest fall in line.
We have just witnessed history in the making. A story in time that we can pass on to our children and grandchildren. A moment all Americans should be proud of and reinforces the fact that we are the greatest country in the world. And if you happen to have been standing on the wrong side of at this moment.. you can always leave that part out of your story.

Its a landslide!!! God stared Palin & the republicans in the eye and vomited in their face.
Remember that Palin said “God will do the right thing on nov 4″.
Thank you God, and the americans who was not fooled by McCains/Palins Rove playbook campaign.
Lets welcome PRESIDENT Obama!

I don’t dislike senator mccain I think the pressure of the GOP party to win hindered his ability to run an effective race.

I just love it when slime-bag robo callers fail so miserably to turn voters against the candidates they are slandering. Get over it you anti-commie has beens. Obama is going to be president for the next 8 years, our relations with Cuba will be normalized, and there’s absolutely nothing you can do about it.

After 4 years of Obama the Republicans will wake up & get a real Republican. Good thing he was elected, Dumb voters need to be taught a lesson & do their research. They were taught that lesson with Jimmy Carter but have a sort memory. Brace yourself, think there is a mess? Republicans will really have their work cut out for them after the 4 years

Nothing better than a good old fashoined butt kickin. Glad to see my fellow Americans use their common sense and set asside there differences and do whats right for the FREAKIN WORLD!!!!!

It’s only been a day and I’m ready for CHANGE!
I wonder if Axelrod will work for the Repub candidate next time around…of course, due to inflation, his fee will be much higher, naturally.
BTW, I hate robo-calls, too.
But, I guess I’d prefer them to some stoned Communist college freshman knocking on my door.

McCain should appologize to the American public for the dirty campain he ran. It was sad!
Posted by: chuck | November 5, 2008, 8:41 pm 8:41 pm
I am a proud republican and McCain supporter. Only time will tell if Mr. Obama keeps his campaign promises. I pray that his policies will not lead America in the wrong direction. Many of his lemming followers have no clue as to his policies. They simply followed the crowd. It will not be long before this country will be completely disillusioned with him. I pray that no American lives will be lost when he is “tested,”as his own V.P., Biden has said will happen.

This is just ridiculous, but having lived in Miami for 14 years, this is just as common as the ‘ cuban coffee’ in the morning, this is all you hear here in Miami – Castro, Castro, Cuba.. and the worst part is that this kind of intimidation and fear tactics have worked in the past, but thankfully those old Cubans don’t vote, their kids do, and most of them voted Democrat! Sick and tired of the Cuban brainwashing! Basta Ya!!
