McCain Campaign Manager Davis Predicts Victory
Rick Davis, Sen. John McCain’s campaign manager, predicted this morning that Americans will see "a victory by John McCain" on Tuesday. "Not the first comeback, but the last for this election cycle," he explained in a "This Week" interview.
But Davis declined to share his thoughts on how many electoral votes McCain will ultimately win, saying "anything over 270 will be fine with me."
He also responded to Obama’s lead in national polling. "A lot of polls, right now, they’re weighted down against the Republican Party," Davis said. ABC News’ latest tracking polls show Obama with a steady nine-point lead over McCain.
"For these polls to have less than, or more than a 5-point or a 3-point margin between the Democratic, Republican Party, you know, I just think it skews the results of these polls," he said.
Obama’s chief strategist David Axelrod fired back in a separate interview this morning. "I think that [Davis] needs to [spin] some sort of interpretation to keep his troops up. And I understand that. That’s — you know, when you’re at the end of the campaign and things are tilting against you, that’s what you do. I don’t think any objective look at the polls would suggest that."
Davis also responded to a new Obama campaign ad out this morning highlighting Vice President Dick Cheney’s recent endorsement of McCain. Davis said that McCain’s relationship with the Bush administration is "certainly the contrast that Barack Obama has been trying to punch through in this election," but that "the closing argument, the stale, old politics of the past that Barack Obama has…he has really undermined his credibility as the agent of change."
"The idea that somehow that that is a great way to end your campaign, Barack Obama, is almost an insult to the American voter," he concluded.
Davis also defended the McCain campaign strategy when asked if they should have defined a clean break with President Bush earlier in the general election. I don’t think it’s a matter of, you know, when any of these things happen…really most of the selection is encapsulated in the last month."

unbelievable… their run of mccain’s campaign has been insulting to the american people for MONTHS. lies in ads, attacking while claiming to be a victim, and choosing palin are just a small number of insults to the american people.
mccain should fire every single one of them if he ever wants his integrity back.

– He actually thinks McCain is going to win? –
What he says and what he thinks are most likely polar opposites. He is after all the campaign manager.. he can’t exactly come out and say that they have such a small chance of winning that it’s not really going on with things.. which would be the truth, but wouldn’t be taken to kindly by McCain or the rest of the campaign members.
Nothing to see here people.. move along.

If the ground work has been effective here, I can’t imagine what it is like in other states where the ground work is strong-I think we will all be suprised! Investment in ground work brings amazing outcomes.
I went into a a Conoco Shop Mart yesterday and had my Obama sticker on-I had 4 people just voluntarily tell me I voted for Obama. I didn’t ask them who they voted for. enthusiasm is incredible in this state.

Rich Davis is in denial.
He is afraid that if he speaks the truth he knows, Republicans will not bother to go and vote and that could give the Dems 60 seats in the Senate.
It is difficult for him to say this, but I will say it for him.

Get your retirement money back from the Republicans! CNN, NY Times and USA Today published the facts about market performance. During the periods we had Democratic presidents, the stock market performed far better. CNN analysed the data from 1927 – 1999 and USA Today’s data was from 1901 to 2004. The NY Times data was examined from 1929 – 2001.
CNN
—
2% gain = Republicans
11% gain = Democrats
USA Today
———
6.9% gain = Republicans
13.3% gain = Democrats
NY Times

0.4% gain = Republicans
8.9% gain = Democrats

This makes me wonder what the Republicans have up their sleeves. I don’t doubt that there is some way they could engineer a McCain victory. Afterall look at 2000 and 2004. They always get people to vote against their own econnmic self interest with things like gay marriage, Obama’a aunt, swiftboat attacks, I could go on but the list is long and disgusting.
As for Rick Davis, wasn’t he George Bush’s campaing manager in 2000 when the stories were spreading that McCain may be “mentally unstable” due to his confinement in the POW camp. I find it not only appaulling that Rick Davis was instrumental in spreading that idea to voters, but that McCain would even condsider this man for his campaign staff. I guess McCain figures if Davis could turn the tide against him in 2000 that he surely will be able to spread enough lies and inuendos about Obama to turn the tide against him. It shows McCain will do anything to win. And McCain said it himself in his book that he isn’t seeking the presidency for any higher reason (like helping our counrty and her people, but rather his only goal is that he wants to be president. Makes the slogan “Counrty First” sound hollow. It should actually be “McCain First – Because I want it”.
Democrats need to be very careful as anything can happen when the sleaze machine gets in motion.

Hey Rick Davis, I’ll tell you what’s an insult to the American voter: SARAH PALIN.
1) Palin abused her power as a governor. That is a fact.
2) Palin supported the “bridge to nowhere.” She didn’t kill the project, as she lyingly claimed. That is also a fact.
3) Palin’s husband was a member, for nearly a decade, of the Alaska Independence Party – a SECESSIONIST organization. So much for “country first.”
4) As mayor of Wasilla, Palin left the town of 6000 $20 million dollars in debt. Nice fiscal conservatism.
5) She also, as mayor, hired a lobbyist to get earmarks for Wasilla – to the tune of 27 million. So much for being a reformer.
6) McCain says he’ll enact a spending freeze. Meanwhile Palin gives a speech on special needs children, promising more funding. Who’s lying? Both – in more McCain/Palin pandering for votes.
7) Earlier this year Palin said she didn’t know what the vice president does. Then, about a week ago, she told a children’s class that the VP is in charge of the senate. This woman is uninformed, unintelligent, and very confused.
8) Palin supports abstinence only sex education. Enough said.
9) Palin does not believe global warming is man-made. But she does want polar bears taken off the endangered species list.
10) Palin, as mayor, had women pay for their own rape examination kits. Some feminist, that Palin.
11) As mayor Palin inquired about banning books from the town library. This week she complained that criticism from the media was endangering her right to free speech. The woman’s combination of arrogance and ignorance is appalling.
McCain picked Palin as his runningmate in a cynical pandering maneuver. He thought he could shore up the Republican base, and appeal to the so-called “disaffected Hillary supporters.” Thinking Americans see his choice for what it was, and is. An irresponsible, pandering, insult to the whole nation. Where’s the honor, John?

I have not decided as to whether or not I am going to vote for Obama.
Method to my madness….
In these final days, we are getting to also know whether or not the democrats will have a super-majority in congress.
As nice as that may sound to “democrats”, that is never good for the country.
One has to remember why we have a two party system and the branches of government.
So, be it as it may, it looks like the democrats are going for that filabuster proof majority in congress. I don’t think I can just hand over that kind of power. Because I as a citizen with enough years of obversation and the history of this country can understand that both parties are corupt. No party should ever have total control over government.
This is the reason I vote to control the damage done by a single party controlling government.

Its hard to find a more revered and loved American than Andy Griffith. When I think of a true American I think of him. Andy Griffith stands for truth and wisdom, and has been considered a faithful veteran, and someone who would never support communism. Andy grew up when the world was under attack by nationalism, and then he was a part of our national fight against communism. Often during his show, The Andy Griffith Show he would teach us lessons on right and wrong, and what the true American way is. His son in the show, famed director Ron Howard is also considered an American icon, and someone you can trust to do the right thing for America. Ron and Andy have put their support behind Barack Obama for President, because they believe he represents the BEST for America. They would NEVER support someone who didnt love this country as much as they do, nor would they support someone who was a threat to us all. Lets all be like Andy Griffith and vote for Barack Obama! Lets make America the America that Andy Griffith believes in! Obama/Biden, as American as apple pie!

Palin will not release her records because she will not make it into office. She knows that, McCain knows that.
Nevertheless, she must have something to hide or why be so secretive?
Maybe it has something to do with keeping her pregnancy a secret until just a week before the birth of Trig … Maybe that is because she is not the mother of Trig after all. … Daughter busier than we have all been lead to believe … ?
Hmm have to wonder … Yet another cover-up?

As Republicans we had a chance to fundamentally alter the political landscape in 1996. However, no strong candidate emerged to lead the party as the Presidential nominee and to assume the Conservative mantle. Instead, we nominated Bob Dole. (McCain’s resemblance to Dole is eerie.) Since that time we can only wonder what might have been. Bill Clinton was beatable and the Congress was actually conservative. But, alas, we haven’t had a clear conservative leader in the party since Reagan left the White House. Newt Gingrich is as close as we’ve gotten and he hasn’t been in power since the ’90s. If this election goes the way it looks like it will go, we will be back to 1976. Perhaps Republicans will wake up and run as conservatives – and then even more miraculously, if given the chance, govern that way. But, who will carry the mantle? There has to be a genuine conservative governor out there somewhere. It won’t be anyone from inside the beltway. We’ll see.

We Republicans are at a crossroads folks. This is the final push.
While the majority of the United States filled with hope over the idea of getting out from under the oppressive disaster of the last 8 years, eager to change the politics of Washington so they better serve every citizen, and praying that they can rebuild the economy from the bottom up so everyone benefits, we as Republicans must stop them.
To date, those positive and hopeful people have somehow risen above our efforts to bring doubt, hate, divisiveness, and lies into political discourse this election. DO NOT GIVE UP. We can still SCREW everyone yet.
We need to do what we as Republicans do best.
1. Where others are speaking facts and truths, we must bombard everyone with with fear and lies (it is what we are best at).
2. If someone is positive and happy, we remind them how awful things are.
3. When we see positive change, we destroy it.
4. If someone presents hard facts, we ignore the truth and protect ourselves with our internal mental barrier that tells us FACTS LIE.
5. If we are wealthy, we serve ourselves.
6. If we are middle-class and poor, we serve the wealthy.
Let’s not let the hopeful and motivated Obama supporters change what we have all worked so hard to create over the last 8 years.
We cannot let their infectious messages of unity and progress for all reverse the financial ruin, war, and general despair we have built up over the last 8 years!
We must continue to draw on our inner hate and ugliness to crush those who wish for a better life for their families, and especially for their children.
Together, we can be a force of nastiness to be reckoned with. No one is better at under-handed, disgusting tactics than we, the Republican Party. Most people think we are low life disgusting people now… just wait until they see how much worse we can get! We are TOXIC!
For the next 24 hours, we will lie more, yell in people’s faces louder, scare old people and small children, spread false rumors about anyone who seems positive in any way about anything, tout our successes during the Bush years, oppress the weak, and most of all, hate everyone who is decent and kind.
McCain / Palin 2008
Together, we can divide the country and bring despair to everyone. Go GOP!

And John McCain will be welcomed as a liberator from the terrorist loving communist dictatorship of baby killing, sex educating, homosexual agenda, rich people hating, Nancy Pelosi boys. Get ready for the heads to roll on Mt. Rushmore, my friends, we’re going to fight, fight, fight, fight, fight, and fight some more for the next four, Praise the Lord. Boola Boola.

People who voted for McCain don’t admit this to the Obama rabble for fear of violent reprisal from the element within the Democratic Party that is prone to rioting. I think this affects your polls. It certainly affects who I speak to regarding this election.

I will not be surprised when it comes out after the election that a LOT of Obama’s money came from terrorist affiliated groups – his strongest supporters. Watch – I am sure someone will very carefully investigate this and come up with something of the sort.

Ms. Rotten – Democrats are the most self serving. Americans give more in charity to others than any other nation in the entire world. Such charitable giving comes in large part from Republicans who work for their money, not from Democrats who are trying to get something for nothing from the government.

To iv’e had it:
To quote you,
1) Palin abused her power as a governor. That is a fact.
The fact is: An investigator said that, but today the official ruling on this issue is that Sarah Palin DID NOT abuse her power as Governor.
Get the facts before you run your mouth!

Agnes, I agree with you on the issue of where Obama’s contributions are coming from. That is why they have it set up that you can contribute with one credit card but use any name you want to several times and it accepts the donation. McCain and others don’t do business that way. For Hamas to openly support Obama speaks volumes for the kind of people he is willing to “deal” with. Hamas is supported by the terrorist country of Iran. Personally I don’t want someone in office leading this country that has that kind of support backing him.
By the way, where is Obama’s birth certificate. Someone on here demanded to see Sarah Palin’s medical records because they don’t believe that she gave birth to Trig? Come on!
Why aren’t you demanding to see proof that Obama was born in this country and not Kenya as his own grandmother states.
It is his grandmother in Kenya who said that she was at the hospital in Kenya for his birth and that the reason he was born there is becuase his mother was so far along in her pregnancy that the airlines would not allow her to fly back to Hawaii. I guess it takes all types of cheaters to make the world go round but the kind of cheater and liar Obama is, hmmm I don’t want his kind running this country.

I just do not trust Obama at all. I believed he is linked with the terrorist in the middle east. A man that doesn’t even acknowledge the American flag for the Pledge of Alligence is no person I want to be the American president.

The only way McCain can win is if his right wing subverters of the constitution and the electoral process go to work for him and commit large-scale electoral fraud – something that cannot be ruled out in light of McCain’s close associations with Gordon Liddy of Watergate notoriety.
