No-Drama Obama Seeks to Lower Expectations

In his news conference today, President-elect Obama was much like candidate Obama: cautious, restrained… no drama, no mistakes …demonstrating the same even temperament that carried him through the campaign. But he also seemed a little tired.  A long campaign has clearly taken its toll. And it sure seemed to me that what he’s been hearing behind closed doors for the last couple of days is weighing on him as well.  The only ad-lib in his opening statement was a reminder that ending this recession and escaping this financial crisis is going to be a bear of a job: "this is not going to be quick, this is not going to be easy to dig ourselves out of this hole." –George Stephanopoulos

He needs some much needed rest 2 years is along time to Campaign, I thought he did great at his First Press conference as President Elect

Obama was great today. Pitch perfect. I’d forgotten what it was like to have a President that inspired confidence.
He’ll be a great President.

Not tired, more like overwhelmed.
He is getting the on the job training required and I think he is realizing that maybe he bit off more than he could chew.
But he shouldn’t worry. Chris Mathews said he will do everything he can to make this president a success. Must give him a warm fuzzy feeling to know that the media is licking your ****.

Dd anyone ask him these questions or he just got all the soft question they way he used to during his campaign:
1- Will he release all his college, medical records now?
2- Does he knows that an Iranain-American student has been arrested in Iran and he what his plans are to get an American citizen out of Iran?
3- What are your thoughts on the press “doing everything I can to make this presidency a success”?
4- Mr. Obama, WHAT DO YOUR REAY MEAN BY SAYING “WE MAY NOT THERE IN A YEAR BUT WE WILL:…WHERE IS “there”?
5- Mr. Obama, do you believe in individual liberty or common good?
6- Will he give credit to Bush for bringing succes in Iraq so it would be easy for him to withdraw?

I don’t think insulting Nancy Reagan is considered classy or very President like. He will need to be much more careful in what he says. Aren’t families off limits?

Really a great presence Obama has as he begins to unravel all of the promises he made to the citizens of the USA. Anyone with much less formal education than Obama has known the economy has been in the bucket for some time. Lets just not blame the economy for the big plans(that were great for votes) as the reason we will not shake the earth and part the seas during his first term. Lets wish him luck on a difficult venture but not make excuses.

I want to remind all of the OBAMA bashers that he hasn’t officialy took office yet but has already done more than our PRESIDENT BUSH has done. Ask your self this WERE IS MR. BUSH….. AWOL as usual.
President Elect OBAMA stated the truth it will take a while to get out of an 8 year hole that Mr. Bush has layed out for us. Mr. Obama looks more presidential with every passing day.

Why are we there in the first place spending 10B a month and losing lives…WHAT HAVE WE WON???

No mistakes? – that Nancy Reagan joke was tacky! Barack already has Joe B rubbing off on him.
Mutt – self deprecating yes. But opens up all sort of questions on race. Well at least Berlusconi should sigh relief.
Hypoallergenic dogs – sounds a bit “elite” again but maybe that’s just me.
Now, George you’re telling us scary things go on behind WH closed doors. OOH big deal. As if he shouldn’t be up to speed from 300 foreign policy advisors with all sorts of clearances and he’s already a US Senator for goodness sake on the Foreign Affairs committee which he never much took interest in.

Family members are off limits as he has told us.

Buyer’s Remorse can it. You were never president so you don’t know of any such rules. You’re just pulling crap out of your @$$.
And if any of you neo-cons cared so much about abortion you would try to block it first at the state level. The president isn’t going to legislate, he’s going to go with the will of the people like all of those amendments passed on Tuesday. So stop trying to pass the blame on someone who hasn’t even taken office yet. Especially, when he doesn’t yet have the power to do anything substantial just yet.

I didn’t vote for him, but I read the transcript of his first message as the Elect. Honestly…in written format it’s an impressive speech, in my opinion. He brought up some of the issues I currently worry about. I’ll be the first to admit, I believe in time he could be a better President than some of us currently give him credit for…and I’m thankful he’s not overly gloating like some of his supporters, otherwise he’d carry an air of overconfidence. Unlike those Bush-attackers, I’ll back Obama as our leader…even if he screws it up. None of us are going to be completely comfortable 100% of the time, anyways…so why focus on expecting one man to work up a 4-year miracle… If he truly does what he says, perhaps he’ll add some cushion for our economic downfall, into a much needed rebound. Again though, he’s only one guy…and this is a global matter. It’s going to take a miracle, but the source won’t be from a solitary President.

Phil, were you ever ciritical of all the “Kerry” stickers 4 years after the last election and the endless “he’s not my preident” comments? I suspect not. Fact is the Repubs and Bush himself have shown the utmost respect for our new President. Boards liek this are hardly good indicators. I know GW and his staff will not be the ones to tear out phone jack adn graffitti desks like Clinton’s staffers did, or writing discharges for countless felns hours before leaving office. Talk abou thateful and disrespectful. Just look at the Hollywood elite and how they’ve treated tehir president over the last 8 years.
No, we conservatives don’t do that and we don’t riot or protest like that, even yearsa later after the fact!
I suggest you look your team in the mirror.

To all of Obama’s nay-sayers: The people have spoken. I’m sorry your guy lost, but all of the complaining in the world is not going to change it.
The Republican party is in complete disarray because their ideas are the ideas of the past, and things are changing in the 21st century.
So, to all the whiners, I suggest you either shut up and start trying to help get us out of this mess, or watch as your way of thinking goes extinct and history passes you by…

And doesn’t anyone know the meaning of the word “mutt”? -Mixed breed. It would be offensive to those elite people who only want “pure” breed. However, it’s not offensive to those of us who own mutts and find them every bit as lovable as any other dog can be.
Just to throw that thought out there.

Gosh almighty,
All you naysayers and negative energy people, give the guy a chance. I don’t know what version of reality you all are living in, but I’m guessing by the fact that he was elected, most people think he certainly can’t do any worse than the last 8 years. So fricking give it up already.
We will have a new president come Jan 20, 2009 and regardless of who you think should have won they’re going to need our support. So why don’t we try sending some positive energy his way because if he succeeds that means we succeed.
I have never liked the Republican presidents, but I have dealt with it, just like everbody else in this country who didn’t like them either. SO again, get over youself. It’s not just about you. You may have job. The economy may not be affecting you. If so, then I’m happy for you. But for those of us who have issues or are concerned about others, please consider hoping that he succeds fo us.

Ruby,
I moved to the United States to escape European socialism. Unlike the many ignorants who voted for Hussein, I recognize the socialist rhetoric when I hear it better than those who never heared about it. I know how it has ravaged Western Europe. Just look at the number of Europeans who fight hard to come to the US vs the number of Americans who want to live in any EU country or Canada. The flux to the US is currently higher both in relative and absolute terms.
You are saying that the US is going to become socialist so I better go back to where I came from. Unlike you, I know the crap I left behind and I will fight hard to expose Hussein and the radical left. America is the last bastion of freedom that remains on Earth. I was lucky I had a place to escape to. I am not going to give it up without fighting. The Midterm elections of 2010 are around the corner and we will fight back to return the government to the people.
My pledge to loathe Hussein is protected by the first amendment of the US constitution. One of the hallmarks of socialism is its tendency to supress dissent.

Tom Ridge, a Republican who campaigned for McCain and was once on the short-list as a VP candidate, was on Larry King Live this evening. Ridge gushed over Obama’s Press Conference. Darn! Hell frooze over today and pigs flew by my window.
Lindsey Graham, Republican Senator, spoke out in support of President-elect Obama (man that sounds good)today. These men have a great deal more intelligence then the neo-con bloggers on this site and a great deal more insight into the issues this country faces. THEY know it will take bi-partisan cooperation to turn our country around and are holding out their hands in help.
All tne neo-cons do on this site is push McCain’s and Palin’s attack philosophy. If you want to see the economic conditions in this country improve, if you want to see our troops come home, if you want to see our relationships with foreign powers improve, then put you hands out, too, help instead of sticking your foot up you back end. Offer positive solutions and support, offer to get involved like many liberals did in this election – phone banking, cnavessing, manning offices. What did you neocons do in support of YOUR candidate? If you did nothing to help but can only complain, go to some freeper site and vent there.

Any body but me notice that Predident Elect Obama spoke of his Tax Plan in the past tense?
DO YOU INTEND TO SEEK AN INCOME TAX INCREASE FOR UPPER-INCOME AMERICANS IN 2009?
My tax plan represented a net tax cut. It provided for substantial middle class tax cuts, 95 percent of working Americans would receive them. It also provided for cuts in capital gains for small business, additional tax credits, all of it is designed for job growth. My priority is going to be how do we grow the economy, how do we create more jobs. I think that the plan that we’ve put forward is the right one, but obviously over the next several weeks and months we’re gong to be continuing to take a look at the data and see what’s taking place in the economy as a whole. But understand the goal of my plan is to provide tax relief to families that are struggling but also to boost the capacity of the economy to grow from the bottom up. All right. Thank you very much you guys.”

Obama is clueless and has no plan. He was late to his own conference and then he spent his time talking about Nancy Reagan’s Seance and a puppy………..Hey, Newsflash Obama, how about instead getting an economy plan that doesn’t include raising taxes, and increasing govenment spending to payback Obama’s dirty allies….

I warned our fellow democrats that voted for him this mess is now his problem. Yet still he doesnt even understand that the president can’t keep throwing money at problem. His priorities are now screwed because of soaring rhetoric he should been realisitc when trying to sell this economic mess we are in.
He should focus in on two major things
Education
Healthcare
These are real problems that both sides can agree on if overreaches on the economy and it keeps tanking like it is, question who is going to work the jobs of the future, the high school dropout, the just laid off with no work experience outside the job they have been at for 10,15,20 years. His goal should be primary and secondary education these young minds should be able to hold us over til the older population can relearn what they have lost working at the one or two jobs they have always had and re-educate older workers on a mass scale to catch up to the changing job industry where a education in now a must or your butt will be out work and bitchin and complaining how the new economy doesnt work for you. Education should be priority number one or you will high school dropouts fighting for the same jobs as people who are now being laid off and there arent many jobs that will be out there for them. No more excuses its time govt address the real underlying problem before its to late.

I did a post on here months ago about TN politic now the damn GOP controls our state 50-49 the first time since reconstruction that was 140 years ago, they control the state senate 19-14, and now our great Gov. Bredesen has to deal with these fools for two years until he is term limited. We have elected Obama president the GOP has to sit back and do nothing now because everything happens is on the democrats watch, the GOP will take the gov. mansion in 2010 thanks to national democrats not setting foot in our state only for the debate in Nashville, with 700 million dollar campaign some table scraps would have been nice for us TN democrats now we are on our own,
Conservacrats will have to break with our party and fight our own fights thanks for the 50 state plan, Gov Dean.

Wow, usually they wait until they are actually in office before they start backtracking on every promise they made. He’s already doing it. And that remark about Nancy Reagan was uncalled for. He shouldn’t have said it even if it were true. He apparently was never taught to have respect for his elders.

Posted by: Melanie | November 8, 2008, 4:43 am 4:43 am

Melanie: President Elect Obama doesn’t take office until late Jan. President Bush is still in office until then. On this news site, another article informs that the ‘Big’ 3 motor corporations are likely to go bust before Christmas if we don’t give them a $75billion bail out. The economy is still tanking. I guess I’ll put your concerns about Obama backtracking on his promises on hold. He isn’t in office yet. Stop lying back like a cat waiting for its saucer of cream to be hand delivered to it and wake up to the real issues facing the country. You may not want to support the current President or the incoming President. In all honesty, the failing state of the economy is going to force your hand. We don’t have the luxury to do character assassination on the President Elect. He got the vote – and we have work to do.

I have a plan to save the USA auto industry. How about we dont import any cars or trucks from any foreign countries for like the next 5 or 10 years? This way the only new cars made in the USA will be GM or Chrysler made in the USA etc. These cars would need to be ‘green’ cars or ‘hybrid’ cars. If this happened many people who work for foreign car companies may lose their jobs but the benefit would be gas would cost even less, foreign countries would stop getting as much money, your used car would be worth more (especially if its japanese or german). Also I think we should look into the rail system and build huge monorails that would replace the highways and take people into the cities. For instance build monorails that go from NJ into NYC etc. This way we all can just ride the train rather than drive to work. The cities are swallowing up the rural areas and towns anyway. All the work in in the cities now. Anyway its just an idea. The plan would be to reduce imports in general, make more product in the USA, buy and use our own products, creating jobs etc. Also I would stop sending jobs overseas or hires people here on work visas and heavily tax any company that has a base of operations in India or China etc. The bleeding off of American citizens job needs to stop. I think soon we need to start unions of just US citizens like a national I.T. workers union etc (think about it they would be as powerful as say the air traffic controllers). You would have to be a US citizen 18 or older to be in the union and prove legal citizenship etc. Arent you tired of working for agencies as a contractor? Have no health or dental benefits while agencies make money off your back? I am.

George, maybe you can convince Obama to bring all of the troops home from Iraq and Afghanistan in 16 months from Jan.20 like he promised. And if he needs more money to start a new middle class he can bring the troops home from Korea, Japan, Germany, Turkey and those bases scattered all around the world. Then he could reduce by 75% the amount of foreign aid we provide the UN and those other 200 countries that delight in bashing the US. That will not pay for all of his programs but it should reduce how much the tax payer has to pay by 20%. Watch out inflation, I know you are out there.

JUST NOTICED THAT HE SPEAKS OF HIS TAX PLAN IN THE PAST TENSE.
DO YOU INTEND TO SEEK AN INCOME TAX INCREASE FOR UPPER-INCOME AMERICANS IN 2009?
My tax plan represented (represents) a net tax cut. It provided (provides) for substantial middle class tax cuts, 95 percent of working Americans would (will) receive them. It also provided (provides) for cuts in capital gains for small business, additional tax credits, all of it is designed for job growth. All right. Thank you very much you guys.” Sounds like he’s backing off to me. We’ll see. He cut off any more questions at this point.

First of all, why is it that some of you automatically assume the people that didn’t vote for Obama actually did vote for Bush? I can’t speak for everyone, but I can certainly say I didn’t vote for either, ever. Oh well.
Obama’s comments about Nancy R. were disrespectful and inappropriate and I don’t believe his supposedly apology phone call was sincere. If he had any sort of class at all, he would have put an action behind his gesture, kind of like sending flowers. I’m also quite certain, the apology wasn’t his idea in the first place.
He’s already backpeddling on his promises, no suprise there at all, and it certainly didn’t take long. The guy’s not even in office yet and the bad news is spewing.
The dog thing is taking priority over the letter from Iran.
Buyer beware!
By the way George S. you can stop with your butt kissing, it’s rather sickening. No matter how much of it you continue to do, Obama is NOT going to select you for one of the cabinet or cushy jobs. Give it up.

George you can ease up on the propaganda campaign buddy, the election is over. “cautious, restrained… no drama, no mistakes …”
He said umm or ahh every two words. This guy isn’t inspiring much hope in the stock market either, worst decline in US history following an election.
Spare me the “but the economic numbers that came out were bad” too because we’ve been getting bad economic numbers for months now and these numbers on jobs and consumer spending are not unexpected. A big part of the stock market is psychology and confidence and so far, at least where the betting community is concerned, this guy is not inspiring any.
Are you still going to raise taxes on the highest income earners? “Uhhh I’m going to ahhh cut ahhh taxes for ummm 95% of ahhh working families.” The cute little campaign talking points mean nothing now.
He looked scared, like he just saw a ghost or something. Gird your loins!

I knew it was just a matter of time before Obama admitted that he could not do everything he said. Some of the U.S.’s top economists looked at Obama’s tax and social plans and likened it to parting the Red Sea. Now that Obama’s elected, he knows he has to lower his expectations. I just didn’t realize he would do it so soon. During the campaign Obama outlined everything that he wanted to do for the economy and national security, then during his Acceptance speech he said everything that needed to be done was going to be hard and he wouldn’t get a lot of things done and he “needed our help”.
Obama reminds me of the story “The Emperor’s new clothes”.
Because he looks and sounds like the ideal liberal candidate, his “tailors” seem ready to clothe him in magisterial robes and trappings of a real leader, one who can somehow magically create “change” out of nothing but wishes and dreams and sweet speech. There was a dream-like quality to his whole campaign, one that promised a new Camelot, a new JFK era of hope and vigor and youthful energy.
The only thing people seem to forget because JFK died so young and therefore was martyered was that if he had lived he would have gone down as one of the worst presidents in history.

As stated before, Obama will break all promises and blame the Bush administration for doing so. Obama knew during his campaign that what he promised was impossible but you fell for it anyway. He is still on the stump until January and then the poop will hit the fan. So don’t praise him like he is some God because he can hold a press conference.

Now that the election is over why don’t we put the financial blame where it belongs and that is on corporate America. If you noticed at the Olympics what the American dollar can accomplish. I wonder how much money China has put into their military? Thousands of American companies moved overseas because of cheaper wages and their own greed. If they would come home and put the American people back to work, just think how much money would be pumped into our own economy.

What the remaining Bush fans do not realize is that we had no business going to Iraq. Sending 23,000 more troops and paying off militats to lower the violence does not absolve him of his blunder. Remember- the main reason Bush was re-elected in 2004 was so that he can clean up the mess he created.

Germany 1930s: interesting that you should refer to president elect Obama as Hussein—you know Hussein was King of Jordan and a friend of the USA—I am not aware of a large number of Europeans and Canadians trying to immigrate to the USA—sounds like an excuse to be negative—your correct, the 1st Ammendment does protect your freedom of speech, but also keep in mind that Barrack Hussein Obama was elected by the people—this still is a “government of the people, by the people, and for the people.”

Posted by: George | November 8, 2008, 1:22 pm 1:22 pm

republican-Paulie: someone already spoke on this, but I’m going go ahead—people who say no to importing—buy American—forget that a lot of “foreign” products are made in America. When you say “only new cars made in the USA will be Chrysler and GM” (you left out Ford) you forget that Toyota, Honda, VW, etc. have plants in the USA. Parts for these “foreign” products are made here in the USA and parts the American brands are made overseas.

Bess Cannon: why are you talking about “bi-racial”? Toward the end of the 19th century in order to distinguish white from colored for purposes of keeping the two separate, negro (colored) was defined as anyone with an ancestry that included a person of African descent. “Jelly Roll” Morton was Creole (which is French, Spanish, African). He spent the better part of his life trying to prove that he should not be classified as “colored”. Creole were highly respected members of society. By being classified as colored they were “demoted” from that position because the attitude of whites was that coloreds were inferior. Jelly Roll was not happy about that.
My point is that Barrack Hussein Obama, president-elect of the USA, is indeed African-American.

If you have $1,000,000.00 and pay taxes in the amount of 60% how much do you have left to live on? $400,000.00 does not look to me like poverty.
If you have $50,000.00 and pay taxes in the amount of 20% how much do you have left to live on? $40,000.00 does not look to me like being rich.
Everyone who works has withholding and everyone who works pays into Social Security and Medicare. It may be that a persons income may be low enough that they get back what was withheld, but they do not get any back from what is paid into Social Security or Medicare.

I know three small business owners – they have all told me that when Obama raises their taxes they will 1) raise their prices thus causing inflation, and 2) lay off employees, thus causing unemployment. And the best part – the first employees to get laid off will be those who voted for Obama. As Biden said in the debate, “it’s only fair” – employees who put a small business owner in that position will have to pay the price – I love it!

The harping by the right wing on Obama has taken about the expected period of time, immediately after his election. A few of those making comments here are spewing the same hate, fear and disinformation we heard throughout the election. The American people have spoken, rejected hate and understand the truth. Respect for our democracy demands respect for the decision of the people.

Part of living in this country is the FREEDOM to disagree with the elected officials and the FREEDOM to state that disagreement publicly. The liberals sure did enough disrespecting of the decision of the people for the last 8 years.

I think he will make a good if not great president. But he will have problems at most all of his proposals, because of his race.
I hope it will not happen, but I am from the south and I know what they say about blacks and especially those who have beaten a white man.
It is not confined to the south either. When I left the south, I came to a town in the north that did not have one black person and would not let a black person live in the town period.
I think Obama can make many things happen if he picks the right mix of department heads that know what they are doing instead of some political hack we have seen the last eight years. They that tried to their jobs were pushed aside and were not listened to, including Colin Powell, Shinseki, and the first EPA head, and she finally resigned.
Those like Browmie and Rumsfeld, Wolfwitz and other war mongers were treated like kings because they were nothing more than yes men/
If Obama surrounds himself with yes men, he will fail and the democrats will not win another presidency in more than a quarter century if then.

Republicans need to remember that the majority vote always counts. The majority of Americans are thankfully tired of the divisions caused by years of disinfranchment from the wealthy white minority that run this country along with President Bush. President-elect Obama has brought this country together and has reached across the oceans and touched the lives of people in other countries. The reason the Republicans didn’t win this election is because of their hate and division they preach. You must be a certain religion, race, and have a high socioeconomic status to be in their little elite club.
I am a CNA and work in a VA hospital. I have seen first hand the affects of war on our soilders and it’s not pretty. It breaks my heart to see young men and women physically and mentally broken because of war. I am so thankful and honored to be able to serve these brave soilders and to give back a little of what they have given us. Yes, I want this war ended responsibly, we need our troops taken well cared of and brought home. If they are going to risk their lives, they should be doing it for America’s safety and security, not rebuilding a country that we had no right to impose our democracy on. President Obama has given people hope, liberated Americans, inspired people around the world, brought unity and with the help of the citizens of America we together will heal the damage that was created by the Bush administration. I have seen too many Americans struggling to make ends meet, including myself. President-elect Obama is exactly what this country needs. The negative comments on this board need to rethink their positions. This country isn’t going to fail, it will once again have a strong infrastructure. Barrack is against abortion and hopes to drastically cut back on the amount that is performed in this country. He respects the rights of women and is opting for solutions that meet the needs of the unborn baby as well as the mother and her family. When people listen to Barrack with a closed mind they fail to hear his true message. No, he doesn’t care more about selecting a puppy than an unborn baby. He is a father who loves his children very much and is keeping a promise to them as any good father would. vI stand 100% behind our new President and am so looking forward to the day when he takes office.

Posted by: xrepublican | November 9, 2008, 9:24 am 9:24 am

xrepublican – How can you say that Obama brought this country together when nearly 50% of the people voted against him? As for hope, he has destroyed my hope. I do NOT want us to become a socialist mediocrity like Europe. I want to be able to take care of my OWN family & not have the government think they know better what I need than I do. Obama talks about learning self-reliance as a kid, but he doesn’t want the American people being self-reliant. He wants us all to be dependent on the government for everything. I will cry the day he takes office, not for joy, but out of grief… for the loss of America as it was meant to be.

Being the President of the United States is the toughest and most stressful job on earth. No president can get all promises accomplished. Too many things going on at the same time. His heart is in the right place and to me that’s a start. I couldn’t and wouldn’t do his job, it’s hard. It’s going to take time the first two years is the toughest and then it becomes easier. Just think when you all first start a job-and think what his job is all about.

George. Have you wondered what many average citizens who happen to be african-american, living in Chicago, expect from President elect Obama. Will he tap those qualified african american who have been kept outside the loop to be in his administration? Or will he do as so many before him in his position just have a token african american here and there. I notice his economy team is made up more one sided. I can suggest two right off the top of my head that would fit his team. Former Rep. Ford, Congressman Jessie Jackson Jr. Many here in Chicago, his home town expect him to bring in many more then qualified african americans as a part of his cabinet. He can use what Mayor Harold Washington, first black mayor of this city, did when he took office.

Being the President of the United States is the toughest and most stressful job on earth. No president can get all promises accomplished. Too many things going on at the same time. His heart is in the right place and to me that’s a start. I couldn’t and wouldn’t do his job, it’s hard. Maybe the Bush administration was hiding a lot of stuff from the American people and he got wind of it that things are much much worse. ellsebell930,
You and those with your view points are thankfully the minority!!! Not all, but too many Republicans have become, closed minded, very negitive, hateful and bigoted. I saw that early on in the campaign and decided then I was voting democrat. Republicans remind me of play ground bullies and heaven forbid any one have an opposing opinion. I also learned a long time ago that to try to reason with a Republican such as yourself is a total waste of time. My family comes from a long line of Republicans that date back to Lincoln. One of my great grandfathers or great uncles helped Lincoln write one of his speeches. I have NEVER seen the Republican party behave as they are now. During PRESIDENT-ELECT Obama’s speach I saw black, brown, white, yellow, young, old, rich, and poor ALL coming together. Sorry you couldn’t partake in that wonderful life changing event–your loss not mine. I am done joining these types of conversations. I am on the side of JUSTICE FOR ALL, EQUALITY FOR ALL, ONE NATION UNDER GOD FOR ALL and for me and many others like me this is what Barrack represents. It is not our job to judge others, that is Jesus’ job. That’s what’s wrong with too many people, they LOVE to judge others–I guess they think they are perfect and have NEVER made a mistake. God Bless America and all of our elected officials, both Republican and Democrat and all those in the middle and outside of this discription. We need all persepctives and all people to make a difference. May God grant me the ability and wisdom to aide my country my fellow citizens and it’s leaders in helping all people, after all that is what Jesus would want, isn’t it? Until I see the Republican party return to the way it use to be, kind and not judgemental, and inclusive for all, I will continue to vote Democrat or Independent.

one last thing, God always has a plan and every thing happens for a reason and that includes Barrack being elected as President of America. I support God, trust in his judgements and may “God’s will be done on EARTH as it is in Heaven. Forgive us our depbts, just as we forgive the debts of others.” God had his reasons for Bush and McCain and Palin, only God knows what they are and were. We all have our path to walk, lets make that path easier for all of us. We can’t expect every one to agree on every thing–so simply respect the opinions and choices of others and leave the rest to God and his son Jesus!

xrepublican – I don’t want to hear all of you who fell for his rhetoric whining because you’ve lost all of your freedom to choose your own path. I will continue to fight against socialism – because it is the just and right thing to do.

Oh – and when the choices of others directly impact my life – and this choice does- then I will NOT keep quiet about it.

What about the rights of Native Americans in this country? I recently went to a Native American Rights Fund (NARF)meeting. Please tell me why there are 15 legal cases pending against the government in the state of Alaska. They are as follows:
.Chistochina Tribe-Subsistence
.Curing V. Alaksa ICWA
.Kaltage Tribe-ICWA
.Katie John v. Norton-Subsistence
.English Only Initiative
.Global Warming Project
.Native Villages of Eyak, Tatitlek, Chenega, Nanwalek, and Port Graham-Subsistence & Aboriginal Title
.Gwich’in Steering Committee-Environmental/Subsistence
.Native Village of Kiana-Education
.Native Village of Nulato-Education and ICWA
.Ninilchick Tribe-Subsistence
.Native Village of Tuluksak-Trust Lands
.Native Village of Venetie-Subsistance
.Tlingit and Haida Indian Tribes Tribal Trust Funds
.Voting Rights Act Suit
These are a lot of issues. The Native people of Alaska have more law suites against the government than any other state. Why has the government of Alaska been so cruel against these people and why haven’t they fixed these problems?
Xrepublican is right, as long as Republicans spreed the hate, people will turn their backs on what they have to say.

Only Democrats define Republicans disagreeing with them as “hate”. You can disagree without hating. But for some reason Democrats don’t know the difference. We still don’t know the whole truth about Obama, as every time a Republican questioned something they were branded a “hater”.

You Democrats are so ignorant about your own intolerance that it’s pathetic. You like to spout grand rhetoric about freedom of choice and speech but in the end you are all emperors’ without clothes. Look closely in the mirror and see your own hypocrisy reflected back at you.

If Sara Palin and the Alaskan government can’t even provide Native Americans civil rights, how can we expect her to uphold them for the rest of the nation? It’s sad that no one cares what has and is happening to Native people. People only care about themselves and what they feel impacts them. The fact that there are 15 law suits pending against the government says a lot about Sara Palin and the Alaskan government. Justice for all.

I can’t get past the “mutt” comment. I have two bi-racial children and I am very offended by that comment. I believe the apology should go out to the largest race of people that is STILL unclassified. What happened to the white half of Osama, I mean Obama?

There is one gigantic issue he will have to deal with in getting things done in the senate–the ages of these old guys!
Currently 1 Senator is in his 90s, 5 are in their 80s, 20 are in their 70s, 37 are in their 60s, 29 are in their 50s, 8 are in their 40s, and 0 are in their 30s. (Wikopedia)
They don’t move fast, they don’t think fast, and they will never be able to keep up with obama. Only 8 out of the 100 is even close to his age!

That’s what we want to hear from the “change” candidate.. Lower Expectations. In other words, what he’s saying is “I promised a lot of stuff I knew I was never, ever going to be able to do”
