Obama: McCain “Earned” Cheney’s Praise Today, Was “Washington’s Biggest Cheerleader for Going to War in Iraq”

PUEBLO, COLO — "Earlier today Dick Cheney came out of undisclosed location and he hit the campaign trail and he said that he is and I quote, ‘delighted to support John McCain,’" Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., said just now in this Democratic-leaning part of a Republican-leaning state.

"So I would like to congratulate Sen. McCain on this endorsement," Obama continued. "Because he really earned it. That endorsement didn’t come easy – Sen. McCain had to vote with George bush 90 percent of the time and agree with Dick Cheney to get it. McCain had to serve as Washington’s biggest cheerleader for going to war in Iraq. And supports economic policies that are no different from the last eight years.  So Sen. McCain worked hard to get Dick Cheney’s support."

Continued the lanky Illinoisan. "Now here is my question to you Colorado: do you think Dick Cheney is delighted to support John McCain because he thinks John McCain is going to bring change to Washington?  Do you think Dick Cheney and John McCain have been talking about how to really shake things up?  Get rid of the lobbyists and put Halliburton on the sidelines and put an end to the old boys network in Washington?"

The crowd of 16,500 yelled: "No!"

"Come on!" Obama said. "Colorado, we know better.  After all it was just a few days ago that Sen. McCain said that he and President Bush share a common philosophy. And we know when it comes to foreign policy John McCain and Dick Cheney share a common philosophy also…So George Bush may be in an undisclosed location now, but Dick Cheney is out on there on the campaign trail."

In response, McCain campaign spox Tucker Bounds issued a statement saying, "Barack Obama and Dick Cheney aren’t just cousins, they’ve shared support for the Bush energy policy and the out-of-control spending that John McCain has fought to oppose."

Yes, you read that right, the McCain campaign is arguing that Obama is more Cheney-riffic!

Jake, why can’t we use Cheney’s first name in this blog, while you can?

Jake, wanna have some hilarious 6 minutes?
Do listen to that incredible phone call about a fake Sarkozy and the real Palin.
It’s… all kinds of things, but also scarier than Halloween if we consider that this woman REALLY is a VP candidate in our country.
Ben Smith at Politico has audio links.

jake,
I just heard obama speak, and it was brilliant and so true.
actually i think the last person mccain wanted an endorsement from is cheney or bush.
probally the only reason bush and cheney
want mccain as president, is they do not want new eyes in the white house to see the mess they have left. mccain will help cover it up.

I used to support Sen. Obama, but Sen. McCain earned VP Cheney’s endorsement today because he displayed superior judgement when in 2003 he lonelily and solitarily called for a surge in combat troops in Iraq when the rest of the nation thought Sec. Rumsfeld was doing a great job. Sen. Obama is spinning: had Sen. McCain had his way, we would have won Iraq on the cheap by 2005. Had Sen. Obama had his way, we would have lost Iraq after deposing Saddam Hussein. Had Sen. Obama had his way, Cousin Hussein would still be in Iraq. Had his VP Candidate Sen. Biden had his way, Saddam Hussein would still be in Kuwait. I don’t want a President that lies to me, and the idea that Sen. McCain cheerled the Bush administration is a lie.

McCain said negotiating with Bush and Cheney was like negotiating with Bonny and Clyde.
Obama said he didn’t know how he would have voted for the war.
Obama in 2004 said it would be a mistake to ever withdraw troops.
McCain read Cheney the riot act about his insane torture position.
McCain demanded the white house stop sending Cheney over to the senate for torture negotiations.
McCain stood up the Cheney on torture.
McCain didn’t reschedule Cheney’s speech at the RNC.
McCain and Cheney can’t stand eachother.

McCain is the only candidate to ever stand up to Cheney in this race.
McCain went to Cheney’s office and told him out insane his torture position was.
McCain told Cheney to stop being the negotiator on it dealing with the senate.
McCain demanded Cheney be replaced as the white house rep and he was.
McCain and Cheney can’t stand eachother.
McCain also can’t stand Cheney’s cheif of staff Addington.
Obama is too dense to understand that Cheney and McCain can’t stand eachother.
Cheney didn’t even speak at the RNC.
Obama has a far left record and he has no experience so he makes wild false claim associations when Cheney and McCain can’t stand eachother.
McCain voted against keeping our troops in Lebanon.
McCain can’t stand five defernment cheney.
Obama and Cheney both never served.

This race is over. Poor Alaska will not be rid of Sarah Palin.
In today’s Washington Post-ABC News daily tracking poll, Obama holds a 53 to 44 percent lead over McCain, unchanged from yesterday, and little in the survey suggests that trimming the margin would be an easy feat.
For the first time, the slice of likely voters who report they will “definitely” vote for Obama has (by just a hair) now reached 50 percent, a milestone which George W. Bush never reached in Post-ABC tracking polls in 2004 or 2000, and the number of movable voters – those who said they could change their minds or who remain undecided – has slimmed to 7 percent.

Mike, NC:
One problem with your math, you’re about three (3) days off regarding who’ll have to pay additional taxes, Obama started off at $300,000+ per family two weeks ago, reduced that number to $250,000, reduced the cut off point once again to $200,000, then Biden, three days ago, reduced that number to $150,000, and, yesterday afternoon, campaign spokesperson Gov. Bill Richardson, NM, reduced it once again to $120,000. Just wait until the “Messiah” (per Louis Farrakhan) is elected, the number will be reduced again and again, guaranteed. But, it will be too late to do anything about it.

To David,
in the spirit of Daylight Savings, here is my answer to you:
The B-C energy bill (Energy Act of 2005), has its good parts and its bad parts. The good being its incentives for consumers to lead energy efficient lives (home constructions), incentives for the alternative fuel industry (hybrid car production and use) etc… The bad being its massive giveaways to oil, nuclear industries. An affirmative vote ensured that the good came into being. Unfortunately the bad came with it. It is a compromise that is needed if congress is not to be in a deadlock forever, accomplishing nothing.
However, it’s more important to look at the candidates current positions to get the true pictures. John McCain talks more about drilling and nuclear power. In that case, why was he against that energy act? It certainly favored Nuclear and Oil industries which he is promising to embrace. Obama talks about alternative fuels, which were a big part of that bill, he does not promise to make Nuclear and Oil a cornerstone of his energy policies as McCain does (which, I repeat, is a a direct contrast to his position of rejecting those aspects of that 2005 Energy Act)

To David again,
Its very easy to confuse prime minister with president (and vice versa) especially if you are living in a country that is under a different government system than yours. I would have had NO problem had Gov Palin been misled by a reference to “president Harper”. Unfortunately, she saw nothing wrong with an entirely different name being referred to as ‘prime minister of Canada’.
You have got to admit, as a citizen of this country who hopefully believes the country deserves competency in its leaders, that she does not sound like she has ANY idea what the name of the president of Canada might be. Please, answer me honestly, does that not worry you? I am ignorant in a lot of things but I do expect leaders to have solid knowledge in some areas and that firmly includes knowing who the leader of a neighboring country is… especially one who had been in the news widely due to recent re-election.
I give Sen. McCain full credit for standing up to the vice-president on the torture issue. One only wishes he had upheld his moral ground till the end and under whatever circumstances, election or no election.

Americans are so stupid and drunk to follow this wasteful (time and money) election. In the end none of these two guys is any good for the country. One is a so-called war hero in fact was just a bomber who dropped bombs from 30,000 feet onto Vietnamese and Laotian people. Of course those were not American lives he took and what was so big deal. Same thing with the Arab today…what is a big deal to bomb those people. Another is a guy who claimed to be a peace maker, to stop making war and yet flip flopping his way through presidential election to get any vote he can. Is he really for peace or really just for that title? I am certain that he will not hesitate to bomb those Arab for Israeli entertainment much like his opponent. American election is much like a sport game where every spectator has right to cheer for their own team but not like sport in the end you still bickering afterward. A trillion dollars spent to get one of these guys to lead your country? I hope next week you all get the one that is truly worth that kind of money. From the last eight year the one that they had was not even worth a dime. Good luck America, you need it.

They tend not to care about anything except getting Obama elected. I am laughing at this woman who said she put more faith in Obama for the economy, yet she could not say why. When asked if she knew of his record as a state or US senator she could not answer. Then the commentator quoted Karl Marx and told the woman it was Obama who said it and the woman nodded and said yes that sounds like Obama. It was hilarious!!!!

If you have no problem with protecting billionaire’s wealth that imposes a million, then you’re simply a fool. Middle class families will see their taxes cut – and no family making less than $250,000 will see their taxes increase. The typical middle class family will receive well over $1,000 in tax relief under the Obama plan, and will pay tax rates that are 20% lower than they faced under President Reagan. According to the Tax Policy Center, the Obama plan provides three times as much tax relief for middle class families as the McCain plan.

Posted by: Mike NC | November 1, 2008, 7:53 pm 7:53 pm

Families making more than $250,000 will pay either the same or lower tax rates than they paid in the 1990s. Obama will ask the wealthiest 2% of families to give back a portion of the tax cuts they have received over the past eight years to ensure we are restoring fairness and returning to fiscal responsibility. But no family will pay higher tax rates than they would have paid in the 1990s. In fact, dividend rates would be 39 percent lower than what President Bush proposed in his 2001 tax cut.

There is always a chance for change. Change

Posted by: Itolduouso | November 1, 2008, 7:54 pm 7:54 pm

Obama’s plan will cut taxes overall, reducing revenues to below the levels that prevailed under Ronald Reagan (less than 18.2 percent of GDP). The Obama tax plan is a net tax cut – his tax relief for middle class families is larger than the revenue raised by his tax changes for families over $250,000. Coupled with his commitment to cut unnecessary spending, Obama will pay for this tax relief while bringing down the budget deficit.

Hey pefros, anything is better than communism. I hear a lot that Obama is a socialist. Wrong. Obama represents communist/Marxist ideology, just like Ayers. If any one denies the right to wealth, and promotes it’s distribution, that’s is Marxism. I just heard this man say – “we will have to cut down, we will have to sacrifice so future generations can benefit. THIS IS 100% COMMUNISM!!! Read Marx, Engels, Lenin and Stalin

Posted by: Itolduouso | November 1, 2008, 8:09 pm 8:09 pm

So now the almighty Barack Obama has decided that if I want to hang on to my hard-earned money rather than hand even more of it over to the federal government, I am selfish. Let me explain why I think it would be better for me to hang onto that money than to hand it over for him to redistribute as he sees fit.
Don’t get me wrong—I do not mind paying my fair share of taxes. Last year, all told, I paid close to $100,000 in taxes. And I did so gladly, without trying to hide any income or take advantage of any loopholes. But what Obama is proposing is not just asking me to pay my fair share. He wants to raise my income taxes and to eliminate the ceiling on other taxes. And Democrats are now also planning to wreck my retirement fund by eliminating the tax savings.
So what do I do with all that money I currently get to keep? Well, I think my spouse and I are good stewards of what we have earned. We give well over 10% of our income to charity. We give money to our local soup kitchen, the local humane society, Empty Stocking Fund, Girl Scouts, our church, the Heifer Project, the Red Cross, Salvation Army, and more. (In addition, we do volunteer work and last year donated over 60 toys to the Toys for Tots drive and hundreds of pounds of food and supplies to a local animal shelter.) So I honestly do not see us as selfish.
What else do we selfishly do with our money? Well, we added an employee to our small business and hoped to add two more next year. That employee is on track to make over $60,000 plus benefits this year, far more than he earned on his previous job. If Obama raises our taxes and lowers our income (because, believe me, his economic policies will prevent our economy from recovering from the current recession and that will mean less income for our company), we will not be able to hire those additional workers. Once we hire someone, we are committed to providing generously for that employee with pay and benefits—rather than take the chance that we could not keep them long-term, we would not hire them. So I honestly do not see us as selfish.
Oh, and we selfishly spend our money on American goods and services. I bought a GM vehicle a few years ago and planned to replace it next year. If more of my money goes to taxes, I will have to cut corners elsewhere, so the car, still serviceable and paid for, will just have last a while longer before I can replace it. That’s a sale the American car industry will lose. I also spend money hiring American workers to mow my lawn, wash my car, groom my dog, etc. If I have less to spend because it’s gone to taxes, I will have to cut back on these services, which I can do myself. I spend money at local restaurants when we eat out regularly and tip generously (at least 20%). I am a marvelous cook, however, and if Obama is using my money elsewhere, I will have to cut back on dining out.
My spouse and I do not live an extravagant lifestyle. We have a modest home, two vehicles, a child in college (the other one, in grad school, pays his own way). We do, however, spend our money wisely. We circulate money in our community and we contribute to the success of countless other small businesses. We also share generously with worthy causes. So I’m sorry, Sen. Obama, but I honestly do not see us as selfish. And you will not gain my vote by claiming we are.

Itolduso,
Bush won only because the republican party exploited technology using foreign labor on H1Bs to displace American doctors, tech workers, finance workers, customer service workers, etc. Only an unskilled tech worker, malpracticing doctor, or greedy Wall Street floor worker thinks otherwise.
That is why U.S. tech workers have been punished and replaced by cheap foreign labor. That is why Citigroup’s India-born leader is pissed that Wells Fargo bidded for a U.S. bank at a good and reasonable offer that could be profitable for account holdres AND shareholders instead of accepting the corporate welfare plan Citi thought they could exploit. That is why your healthcare costs 10x more than it did when Americans practiced medicine.
Employing the rogue results in greed and citizen pawns.
Also of note, Oprah is witness to placing her vote for Obama and having the tech box created by China and programmed with Cheney’s rules ending up voting for McCain. Gig is up. You’re exposed. Acorn is good and that’s why your ilk attacks them.
Buy China and India and buy technology-controlled everything else including elections. Unprovable accidents and conspiratorial coincidences *are the republican way.
Meanwhile, in the words of Bush and Microsoft, there’s no talent in the U.S. so we need more foreign educated fake document generating tech workers that work for half of U.S. pay. Tech workers, auto workers, teachers, doctors and such just don’t need to buy homes, right?
Dried up work force. Dried up home buyer market! Duh!!!
Bankrupt citizens that need healthcare after sponsoring H1Bs to provide healthcare services then get greedy.
When will we learn that regulation helps to prohibit uncontrolled greed?

Buffet wants to *ensure the wealth, *spread the wealth (or whatever the poor people supporting welfare for the rich choose to call it), and make a better market for his products.
Buffet’s business cannot be sustained in this free market if there are no Americans to market to. He recognized that middle class Americans need income to make purchases.

MCCAIN
0% on home sales up to $500,000 per home (couples). McCain does not propose any change in existing home sales income tax.
OBAMA
28% on profit from ALL home sales. (How does this affect you? If you sell your home and make a profit, you will pay 28% of your gain on taxes. If you are heading toward retirement and would like to down-size your home or move into a retirement community, 28% of the money you make from your home will go to taxes. This proposal will adversely affect the elderly who are counting on the income from their homes as part of their retirement income.)
DIVIDEND TAX
MCCAIN
15% (no change)
OBAMA 39.6% – (How will this affect you? If you have any money invested in stock market, IRA, mutual funds, college funds, life insurance, retirement accounts, or anything that pays or reinvests dividends, you will now be paying nearly 40% of the money earned on taxes if Obama becomes president. The experts predict that ‘Higher tax rates on dividends and capital gains would crash the stock market, yet do absolutely nothing to cut the deficit.’)
INCOME TAX
MCCAIN
(no changes)
Single making 30K – tax $4,500
Single making 50K – tax $12,500
Single making 75K – tax $18,750
Married making 60K- tax $9,000
Married making 75K – tax $18,750
Married making 125K – tax $31,250
OBAMA (reversion to pre-Bush tax cuts)
Single making 30K – tax $8,400
Single making 50K – tax $14,000
Single making 75K – tax $23,250
Married making 60K – tax $16,800
Married making 75K – tax $21,000
Married making 125K – tax $38,750
Under Obama, your taxes could almost double!
INHERITANCE TAX
MCCAIN
- 0% (No change, Bush repealed this tax)
OBAMA
Restore the inheritance tax
Many families have lost businesses, farms, ranches, and homes that have been in their families for generations because they could not afford the inheritance tax. Those willing their assets to loved ones will only lose them to these taxes.
NEW TAXES PROPOSED BY OBAMA
New government taxes proposed on homes that are more than 2400 square feet. New gasoline taxes (as if gas weren’t high enough already) New taxes on natural resources consumption (heating gas, water, electricity) New taxes on retirement accounts, and last but not least….New taxes to pay for socialized medicine so we can receive the same level of medical care as other third-world countries!!!
Sounds great, doesn’t it

I love the numbers. I suggest that some of you may study them a little before you cast your vote.

Posted by: Itolduouso | November 1, 2008, 9:21 pm 9:21 pm

I don’t know what McCain had to promise Cheney for the endorsement. Maybe he agreed to reconsider his views on torture.

Posted by: hamishdad | November 1, 2008, 9:22 pm 9:22 pm

Mike NC, I suggest you do your own research. You see, that’s what I do for a living and I can say that I don’t give a damn who wins, because it will no affect me a bit, but I care for people like you and don’t want to see them get screwed. That’s all

Posted by: Itolduouso | November 1, 2008, 9:24 pm 9:24 pm

Come on Tucker, we now you’re baet, but that’s the best you can do? Trying to tie Obama to Cheney? Are they trying for the worst campaign in American history sympathy vote?

Posted by: Mara | November 1, 2008, 9:24 pm 9:24 pm

And for the record Mara, I have no reason to lie. I am not a lawyer like Obama or Biden. I just like politics and numbers:)
…and I hate to see people getting screwed by politicians on both sides of the wagon.

“Overall, the Tax Policy Center said people with very high incomes would benefit the most under McCain’s proposal, while low- and middle-income taxpayers would see larger tax breaks under Obama’s plan and wealthy taxpayers would see their taxes increase.”

Itolduso: This baloney has also been refuted by:
Snopes
Politifact “A chain e-mail claims that Sen. Barack Obama intends to raise pretty much all your taxes, while Sen. John McCain will leave them alone. The problem is that most of the e-mail’s detailed assertions are false.”
Reality Tax
“No, of course Senator Obama isn’t propsing a tax on water, but that’s among the fantastic smears being emailed around lately in what appears now to be a desperate attempt to mislead middle America. Are we really that gullible? Do people sit around the cooler at work kicking this one around?”
But thanks so much for alerting everyne to this completely false information – I see that it’s making a few rounds – and I also notice that almost notice that almost anyone is paying attention.
Any other completely false chain emails you’d like to share?

These numbers do not lie. Bush tax cuts are about to expire and Obama will not extend them. The taxes are going up

Numbers don’t lie itolduouso . . . but from what I just read, you do . . .

Obama bought the election for 650M. As I said b-4, both candidates suck, but Obama’s ideology is communist. Take from the rich and give it to the poor? Great idea but it will never work. The rich will take more jobs oversees and thats all. Soviet Union tried it and it failed too

sorry itolduouso you’ve just totally proved yourself and your information untrustworthy . ..

And besides, it wasn’t Bush alone who screwed up the economy. The democrats did.
Barney Frank did not want to regulate the market. Bush did. Too late, but he did in 2005 or so. Come on, Congress approval rating is @ 9%. Pelosi, Reid, Frank isn’t this enough? gotta go now. has been a pleasure:)

Everything in Itolduso’s ost concerning taxes has been refuted. It is false. It has been refuted by Fackcheck, Snopes Politifact, Reality check and others. Some reviews have simply said that all of the information was completely false. Others went further – and thought that it was deliberate. I have no opinion on that. However, these claims are false:
Obama will not double your income tax
(bracket by bracket – it’s all crap).
He will not tax you if your home is over 2400 sq. ft.
Obama will not increase inheritance tax
He will not put a 28% tax on the sale of your home
Obama will not tax your IRA or 529.
Obama will not tax our WATER.
All of this came from a chain email that was sent to hundreds of thousands of people last summer, and has been refuted by virtually every independent review in the country. It contained no links to the Obama tax plan and no references. It was simply made up. Apparently, somebody thought it was a good time to try it again.

They just cannot help it, can they? They try to be away, absent and still once in a while a pimple appears on McCain’s face and he has the scars to prove it!!!

Posted by: Nicole | November 1, 2008, 10:20 pm 10:20 pm

I’m sorry, Itolduso, but you really have absolutely no credibility. That “tax the water” bit was just a little over the top. But I’d love to see a reference for your information.
Now that we know that your very long post about taxes was all bunk you’re switching to the Joe McCarthy gameplan?
I just don’t buy it that Warren Buffett, who is a bigtime, very successful capitalist, would strongly endorse a Marxist. Just wouldn’t happen. Nothing in Obama’s plan iss remotely Marxist. His plan is all about trying to start new American businesses.
The only candidate whose record comes anywhere near Marxism is Sarah Palin’s. In Alaska, they consider their resources to be “the people’s.” They tax oil, and then spread the money around. Every Alaskan received a big bonus check each year from the government. And the best part? They don’t even have to work for it.
“we’re set up, unlike other states in the union, where it’s collectively Alaskans own the resources. So we share in the wealth when the development of these resources occurs.” Sarah Palin 2008
Sarah has been running around the country calling Obama a communist – while running a little socialist state in Alaska. Do I think Sarah Palin is a Marxist? No. I don’t think she has the slightest idea what is means – or she wouldn’t have brought it up = with Alaska’s policies out for anyone to see. John McCain has also said that when you reach a certain level, there’s nothing wrong with giving a little more. Is he a Marxist? No, of course he’s not. And he has said clearly that he does not believe Obama is, either. But is doesn’t stop him from using it to try to scare people into voting for him.

Cheney knows exactly what he is doing.
It’s payback time for McCain! He will lose for sure.

Posted by: RubyRed Republican | November 1, 2008, 10:38 pm 10:38 pm

Cheney is Evil…
He knows exactly what he is doing. Guess it was time for him to get even with McCain….
He has lost the election

Posted by: RubyRed Republican | November 1, 2008, 10:46 pm 10:46 pm

McCain receiving Cheney’s endorsement,
is like getting the kiss of death from Michael Corleone.
Serves McCain right though.
He was a big part of the mess that has sent this country spiraling to an economic quagmire.
Now McCain will have us believe that he can play Johnny action hero and save us from financial doom.
Who the hell is he trying to kid.

Posted by: alex rivers | November 1, 2008, 11:01 pm 11:01 pm

It is a measure of Cheney’s delusional thinking that he believes his endorsement will help McCain. Johnny must be furious. Now, if we could just get Dubya to endorse McCain, the damage would be complete.

You read from time to time that there are murderers who know they won’t live much longer and are tired of their life so they wish to commit suicide, yet they could prefer to kill as many people as possible to bring them along. Examples of such victims are the innocent children, women and old people in Iraq & Afghanistan.

Presidential math?
The 100% republican president:
George W Bush
The 90%:
George W Boooh!
……………….
Similarity?
Bush avoided face-to-face combat in Vietnam, and McCain in Korea (pilot)?
McCain is shown crying (?) when he was allowed to send message to her back home.
What if.. he overalled cried a lot in the Korean prison camp? Hero? What if someone in the prison camp constantly reminded him what a greatly successful father he had, and how very disappointed the father would be if he went home early? Hero anyway?
Would it be possible to imagine that the kid ‘W’ was the terrible disappointment/failure to his father, constantly reminded of it?
And McCain was perhaps also very invisible to his father? Does such emotional scars cause such sensitivity that their stress management skills are impaired?
That instead of looking at stressful situations logically, they both PANIC into wars?

woman citizen
I am always stunned by folks like you who refuse to acknowledge that the Iraq war was a war of choice by Republicans and Conservatives. They lied, pure and simple.
You do realize and understand that, right?
It was packaged and sold by Bush, Cheney et. al. There was never a threat to America, and Bush & Cheney knew that. Your ‘after market’ spin about who wants to do what,.. now,.. to try and make the best out of a strategic blunder is clueless as well as meaningless, as is your assumption that 55,000 troops will die.
re: “Did you hear that they “…
who is the ‘they’ you refer to?

To All:
Please stop and think as proud and responsible Americans, don’t play into the media and the politicians’ lack of professional ethics and integrity. If riots erupt it will be their fault.
If our democracy, rights and freedoms are taken away, it will be our fault only because we wanted change. Please pray for our nation, we are so vulnerable right now that only a tragedy may unite us. The world is watching and laughing at us.

And Obama earned Colin Powell’s endorsement — yeah, the same Colin Powell who had the bad judgement to try to convince the UN that Iraq had weapeons of mass destruction. Maybe Colin’s bad judgement includes his endorsement of Obama.

Cheney who ?

Posted by: justme | November 2, 2008, 10:24 am 10:24 am

Well that clears up any doubt that McCain’s policies would be a continuation of Bush & Cheney’s. And we can readily see what those policies have done to our economy and our standing in the world.

Posted by: Lydia | November 2, 2008, 10:36 am 10:36 am

McCain may have “stood up to Cheney” about torture, but he changed his tune right after he won the nomination. He is now OK with it, and that is one of the main reasons I could never vote for him. Besides the inane things Palin says and does, McCain does nothing but rant and rave about Obama. When I see a Republican stump speech, 80% of it is about Obama. Seems they’d rather talk about him than their plans, or are there any? He shouts so much that he gets confused, as when he told folks in Western PA that he agreed with the assessment that they were rednecks. He said it twice before he corrected himself. That isn’t leadership, that’s emotion. We need calm and reasoned, not jumpy and impulsive.
