Obama Presser on Wed? Not So Fast
Obama spokeswoman Linda Douglass now says that Sen. Barack Obama’s pledge this morning that he will hold a press conference on Wednesday is not necessarily going to happen.
"Likely not," she says. "It was just a placeholder."
Obama earlier today told ABC News he would have a press conference on Wednesday.

Santorum: Money Will Not Defeat Obama, Ideas Will
Rick Santorum's Full Speech at CPAC 2012
Oh please, Jake. He was basically telling you, in shorthand, “after the election.”
My guess is he’s going to be sleeping in on Wednesday. Lord knows that’s what I’d be doing after 2 years on the road.

I guess you just can’t take him at his word.

That’s the last straw! I am not going to vote for him! Oh I forgot early voting.

Vote for McCain and get more Americans killed in political wars started by Republicans….
Vote for McCain and his Republican buddies and
destroy the American economy even more than Bush has.
Vote for McCain and continue the shredding of the constitution that Bush & Cheney started.
Vote for McCain so Palin can become President

Obama/Biden

Is this when he will actually come out and tell the American People the Truth??
All we have heard so far are lies and flip flops.

Exactly, OxyCon, I hope that we don’t have to get used to this. Doesn’t look to good, but I know where my vote is going.

Get used to it. I did not vote for Obama because I thought he would deliver. I voted for Obama as an in your face vote against racism rearing its ugly head one final time in our politics. In fact I think Obama will deliver very little, and we can judge him by the content of his character and not by the color of his skin. It is Martin Luther King’s dream we are realizing. Unfortunately, the promised land will be politics as usual.

Just what the heck is a “placeholder”?
In this context it seems to be just a little prevarication thrown out to appease the folks until the truth must be told.
I wonder how many “placeholders” people have voted for unknowingly.

Can we ask him about his comment that he would bankrupt the coal industry.
That would be good for PA and West VA.

I’ll miss all the steam and false rumors on here after Tuesday.
Basically, Obama is wisely not counting his chickens before they’ve hatched. That the media thinks it is their job to try and trip up politicians is sad. Better would be to give insight rather than reporting. But that’s called journalism, which seems to be a dying art…

What has happened to the Democratic party of press freedom and open government? Kicking the three newspapers who endorsed McCain off the Obama plane was just the beginning of it revealing that was ancient history.
I’d say Obama is being Nixonian in his attitude toward the press (which is weird since they fawn over him) but even the late President wouldn’t take things that far.

what exactly is obama speaking about when he refers to his idea to form a CIVILIAN NATIONAL SECURITY FORCE. i have been trying to locate the transcript of the speech and it has been scrubbed from obamas website. i would like to know?

As an independent, I just know that I did much better under the economic policies of Bill Clinton. Although I was disgusted with his social policies and his behavior, I cannot afford 8 more years of Bush-like policies. Maybe if I made $250,000 or more a year, I would vote for McCain. However, I am voting for surplus and my wallet. Period.

maryD:
Do you honestly interpret this comment, in regards to a carbon cap and trade policy (that McCain also supports):
“So if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can; it’s just that it will bankrupt them because they’re going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that’s being emitted…if technology allows us to use coal in a clean way, we should pursue it.”
As being the same as saying: “he would bankrupt the coal industry.”
Really? You see those two are the exact same thing? I have been trying hard to believe Republican voters were simply not informed, but it is getting difficult to not start to believe they honestly lack the ability to analyze data and think for themselves. McCain agrees with Obama that carbon dioxide emissions must be controlled, but I guess Obama is condemned because he is speaking about the specific realities and policy implications of what that means.
McCain, as is his tendency this election, simply refuses to give any sort of policy details – certainly not to the depths of the hundreds of pages of white papers on Obama’s site. And the Republican base thinks Obama is an “empty suit”?

April: “However, I am voting for surplus and my wallet. ”
It should be noted that Obama’s personal life is far more appealing than Clinton’s (no bimbo eruptions and, despite some efforts, absolutely no morality mud to be thrown at him). I would much rather my daughter intern for Obama than Clinton.

If Hussein Obama gets elected, the first thing he should do is to enforce the laws of this country by putting his half aunt on the plane to Kenya, and also pay for all the welfare checks she received (i.e. the taxpayers’ money), because it was Hussein Obama that had arranged for her visit to the USA in the first place, and the affidavit of support he signed then guarantees to
restitute the USA for all such welfare payments. Furthermore, if he can not have the information about the illegal stay of his own aunt, how are we going to be assured that he will secure us from all terrorists?

response to westcoastmessenger. as a hispanic i get what you mean and i understand why you voted for obama however…
i disagree that it is mlk’s dream that an obama win will demonstrate. obama is not representative of the african american experience of slavery, nor did her grow up in an african american family/neighborhood/home. he did however embrace THAT PART of his culture at a later stage in his life.
it saddened me that throughout obamas campaign he has focused on the race issue in america as a black and white issue exclusively-while leaving out the rest of that constitute america’s many cultures.
furthermore repeated polls have shown that racism is not playing a role in this election?

Hey Concerned,
Yes, with two mediocre candidates, neither able to stand on a record that shows they will be able to effectively deliver, all things being equal, lets lay to rest the color debate, shut up those that want to use racial diviseness as a weapon, and move forward with a new playing ground which will measure people based on results. Bush did not get the results, the Republican party failed to get results, the Congress failed to get results, I’m for replacing all of them with a fresh face. If we’re able to lay racial diviseness to rest at the same time, then at least we are guaranteed one small forward advance.

Nevada 2,
I agree that race has not played a role in the final run, it did play a very minor role in the primary, when Obama had incendiary people like Jeremiah Wright on his campaign and Obama successfully turned that factor around against Hillary Clinton. That being said, I still agree it is not a notable factor in this contest, the people I’m aiming for are that fringe wingnuts that throw up race at every corner. You see them in this blog, about 1 out of every 20 people, that wears race on their sleeves. If it its only 5 per cent of our populace that’s still an obnoxious 5 per cent and they need to be further disempowered to the greatest extent possible. Rush Limbaugh is right in the middle of the mix.

MIguy,
Obama started counting his chickens back when he stold unearned Michigan votes from Hillary through the rules and bylaws committee settlement before the convention. I’ve heard all his supporters mouthing off for months now about having it in the bag. Let’s see if he delivers. Frankly, I have little confidence in the guy, although I voted for him. When he lied about public financing at that moment I knew that he will not walk the talk.

westcoast…you are so spot on. it is the supporters that worry me as well. mccain risked support from within his own party and alienated the extreme right wing with his humane immigration policy. they hate him over that issue alone.
however i have been equally disparaged by obama supporters over my support for hillary, and later for mccain.
so again i do consider the ‘supporters’ into the equation when supporting a candidate.
i vote on tuesday.
i am so tired of voting for the lesser of two evils.

all you Republican ‘geniuses’ are gonna be crying Tuesday night…… all your good at is lame rumors..
Obama & Dems win…………. only a few days to go… keep up the same losing strategy..

Back in the real world, Sarah Palin was on Fox News this morning. She thinks we are at war with IRAN. She also thinks we are winning. She knows that in 100 days, after a McCain victory, it will all be revealed.
Who is measuring the drapes?

Obama and Biden are in a constant battle to keep their arrogance under control.
If they get elected it will come unleashed. But arrogance will bring them down like it did Bush.
I figure an approval rating like Pelosi, Reid, Barney will burst BO’s bubble.

Um, except for the fact that Dr. King was a Republican.
You cast your vote for the party who brought you Jim Crow laws and the party who founded the KKK.
Maybe you should have voted for the party of Lincoln and MLK if you wanted to be behind the party who wants to lift African Americans out of oppression rather than to keep them there so they have a firm voter base.

topo2005 -
You either don’t realize or ignore the fact that McCain kicked the New York Times and Time Magazine off his press plane. He literally left Maureen Dowd stranded at the Pittsburgh airport. It’s easy to imagine him doing that cackling thing as his plane took off.
By the way, the Washington Times said that it did not regard the plane bumping as any sort of retaliation for its editorial point of view.

I trust John Mccain to make the right decisions for our country. He will fight for what is right and work for change were we need change.
I believe he is a man of his word.
He has dedicated his life to his country. I believe he will be a good leader.

Jake, Here’s a question for him: How soon are you going to remove Patrick Fitzgerald as the federal prosecutor in Chicago….will it be soon enough to keep your fanny out of jail?
Fitzgerald is doing great (albeit at a snail’s pace) work exposing corruption in Illinois politics, a la Blago, Rezko, Levin, Vrdolyak, etc. I have been hoping that BHO would be tied in as well, but the clock is ticking on fitzgerald if Obama wins. I would like to know what he has in mind.
Of course, I have hundreds of questions for BHO. But he doesn’t answer them, does he? He will be breathtakingly arrogant if POTUS, brushing off the questions of legitimate journalists like so much dandruff.

Barack Hussein Obama has “a righteous wind on his back.” His name means “Blessed Good Looking Visionary (Obama means truth and righteousness).” Don’t forget the God-fearing legacy of the famous King Hussein, the father of the modern country of Jordan. (Do some research on the Internet!) Hussein is a popular name in the East. So what up haters? Barack will be the best President we ever had! May God bless and keep him and his family safe and have mercy on the world.
