Obama Supporters Swarm White House
ABC News Jon Garcia reports: Hundreds of cheering, screaming students from George Washington University in Washington DC streamed into the streets and down Pennsylvania Ave to chant and gloat out in front of the White House.
The students, who’d gathered the University’s Marvin Center to watch election returns, said they decided to take their celebration to the White House after the networks called the race for Sen. Barack Obama at 11pm.
Though they were loud, its hard to know if the current President, who was busy calling both President-elect Barack Obama and Sen. John McCain, could hear them.
But they chanted nonetheless — "Yes We Can!" and "Yes We Did!" The US Secret Service moved to threat level yellow because of the size of the crowd gathered outside the White House.
Despite the heightened threat level, agents along the fence line were overheard saying they weren’t worried. "C’mon, these guys are peaceful and celebrating," one agent said. Some students yelled "Goodbye!" toward the North Portico of the residence.
But many started to filter away around midnight right before Obama took the stage in Chicago. Because after all, the only thing they wanted to do more than jeer at President Bush was to hear President-Elect Obama’s acceptance speech.

Hussein’s supporters swarm the whitey house because they think there is free burgers and chitlinks on the front lawn.
The only thing that was proven tonite is that the ghetto in the USA is now so big that it can elect a president. The ghettolardasses with their stupid food-stamp raised criminals-to-be multi-children litter. The useless freeloader out-of-jail on probation in-hiding babydaddy that can’t do anything but recycle aluminum cans for a living. So used to the ghetto life that expects the government support forever. You all think that Hussein will give away lots of money for burgers and chitlinks. I wouldn’t be surprised if Hussein celebrated victory sacrificing a goat with his Kenya corn feeders and muslim insurgent friends on the front lawn of the white house. Hey, why stop there, install some spinner rims on the presidential limo. Piss_on the koran.

I would think that the political thought and speech found in posts on a news website such as abcnews.com would hold a higher level of intelligence and respect than what I’m seeing here. President George Bush is still President George Bush. President-Elect Barack Obama is President-Elect and will be our next President. Senator John McCain is still a Senator from Arizona. There wives are both beautiful, intelligent women and deserve more respect (especially because they are both mothers of wonderful children) than what is being left on this website tonight. It is this kind of party-toting rhetoric that has put America in the horrible place that it is in today. Our founding fathers and the people that elected them had more respect for themselves, their political opponents, even their enemies than you have demonstrated tonight. Tonight, President Bush told President-Elect Obama that he would help make the transition of power a smooth transition. President-Elect Obama said that he would still be my president, even though I didn’t vote for him today. I hope that they both keep those promises. I hope that the leaders who we have elected today (and those whose seats were not challenged today) will heighten the political respect and debate in our country. I hope they can lead us to see that the kind of garbage that is being posted here runs exactly against the fabric of what America used to be and should be today. I pray that America has not seen its best day. I pray that that day is in front of us all.

Obama’s ascent to President Elect is eerily similar to that of a guy named Adolf who became Chancellor in Germany 75 years ago. An economy in trouble, empty promises of “hope and change,” and a class of scapegoats to attack (it was the “International Bankers” back then, and “Rich White People” a la Jeremiah Wright today). Even at the end of the war, a majority of Germans still regarded him as warm, kind and fatherly. The crowds of adoring, cheering fans who filled stadiums in Berlin are not unlike those in America today. And like Obama, Adolf was a socialist who promised food for the people and a break from the past. I don’t blame Obama, of course; he and his close associates are very clever, well-funded people who study history and know how to get what they want. I blame the voters who blindly elected him because either they fell for the promise of “hope and change” without actually examining the contents of the package, or were so driven with hatred for GW Bush that they insisted on electing anyone from the opposing party regardless of who he was. The other voters who make their money off taxpayer programs (like ACORN that receives govt grants to commit voter fraud) are the most insidious bunch, and they will elect whoever they believe will fund them for their activism. Prepare for four years of taxpayer funded community activism, inordinate growth in the influence of people like Al Sharpton, uncontrolled immigration from the Middle East and Africa, and the dominance of Islam in American politics. The Weimar Republic was a functional republican democracy; so was the United States, once. The People have lost their virtue and we are going the way of Rome.

Rick (Posted by: Rick | Nov 5, 2008 10:19:15 AM) asserts that all those who voted for Obama are “guaranteed NON RACISTS.” By his argument, if you are a Jew-hating member of HAMAS or Hizbollah, and you voted for Obama, you are a NON RACIST. Since the members of those organizations consider the Jews to be subhuman, by their argument (and by extension, Rick’s), it therefore isn’t racism to support the genocide of the Jews. Rick then asks where we stand, insinuating that anyone who didn’t vote for Obama is necessarily a racist. Well, Rick obviously stands with HAMAS or Hizbollah. He probably sports a nifty Kafiyeh around his neck, too. And I certainly don’t stand with Rick, or any of his anti-Semitic friends.

The majority of the posts on both sides in this thread explain:
a. Why the founding fathers were opposed to direct, unqualified democracy. The collective IQ of most of the posters on BOTH SIDES appears to be about 75.
b. Why the Obamunists are going to be really disappointed in 9-12 months. Even if he is the screaming Marxist that his history suggests, and most of his supporters appear to want, the “system” is simply not going to respond to most of what he wants to do. Do you really think this election was won with whining? How short-sighted of you.
The point is, and it’s a valid one if you can be honest with yourself, that when democrats have spoken out against the failed policies of Bush, republicans cried foul calling us un-American because we didn’t support our commander. Now that the shoe is on the other foot, all this Obama-bashing is just further evidence of a deep-rooted hypocricy that says that only the republican way is the American way.

I don’t like Obama, did not vote for him and honestly do not trust him. However he is the next president and as such will get the support that I can and will give to him. He will get the respect that is due him for the office he holds. And I would like to be proven that I am wrong in not trusting him. I wish him all the success in turning this country around if that can be done. We will see.

sorry to point out that if anyone ran a business like the GOP ran this campaign they’d be fired. the media only controls the people if we let them…people were fine with the media when monica was doing her 15 minutes with clinton..Now its goes the other way and its all the media..the media did not make palin look like the rhodes scholar she is she was very helpful on her own…..the 150k for clothes,..seems almost like someone on the right did McCain in……she was the gift that kept on giving for Obama. Sort of like Guiliani…no need to attack them..let them speak and they do it to themselves. Alaskas First Dude…she really said that…if i was media I would want her as the VP..at least there would be SNL and something cool on the news everynight. I assume by media you also include talk radio which is owned by the right…I tolerate it..no big deal….if the media controlled this election we are giving them way to much credit….lots of people looking for people to blame today..maybe mccain just got beat…heck he lost Indiana..need I say more..

“There is a lot of people not making over $250,000 that a ton of people to give a tax break to, i just don’t know where all that money is going to come from.”
As of 2001, the top 1% of US households owned 33.4% of private wealth. Allowing tax breaks to expire for the top two income brackets produces more that enough revenue to relieve some of the tax burden on the bottom 80% of the ladder (who own only 16% of the wealth).

Ooh, two concerneds on here…last post was not mine.
Carrie,
I don’t happen to agree, not even a little bit, that McCain is more bi-partisan. However, it’s moot at this point, as >50% of my fellow American’s agreed, and shut him out.
I’m not interested in a quote by Bush. I’m talking about the Joe Republican who told me, when I didn’t like the way Bush was running things, that I was un-American.
As far as the person with the most money always winning an election, you are incorrect. Read your history.

Can someone please tell me who is the future of the GOP…just give me a name and please please say palin and the first dude. Rudy..hes even better..this guy has more skeletons than a bone yard and since he did it all in NY we’ll call it PRICELESS…..this is so cool!!!!!

Concerned,
You have to admit that it is fun to smack talk once in a while…. : )
It was not a quote by Bush that was attached..just read it. You don’t have to agree, it is interesting.
Here is an answer to the financial effect of the election:
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1108/15283_Page2.html
A quote from the interesting article that you might read.
“The Republican Party’s long-time lead in the campaign finance game has been erased in this election due to the Democrats’ control of the congressional agenda and their side’s more skillful use of online fundraising,” said the center’s director, Sheila Krumholz.
I am an very open minded person with opinions like everyone else. The ideal party that I would support would be Common Sense with all the issues…unfortunately there is no such party…
Chris,
You are right about the terrible GOP campaign…and Palin was a mistake…
The media that had a lot of control was T.V., the internet, magazines, radio…
it was unbelievable…Even a kid’s website was slanted.
Anyways, I have to go do the laundry. This darn computer is hard to leave with all the entertainment on it…
Congratulations Obama, please do as you promised and make America a great country for it’s citizens.

Have a good night sleep Obama….wait to you have to write your first letter to a family that lost there son in Afghanistan. You said they were coming home….YOU LIED
Posted by: David Freitas | November 5, 2008, 3:44 pm 3:44 pm
I am trying to be be positive about the elections, then I remember all the lies.
An interesting opinion from these blogs was this…
“Obama’s ascent to President Elect is eerily similar to that of a guy named Adolf who became Chancellor in Germany 75 years ago. The People have lost their virtue and we are going the way of Rome.”

Swarm…hmmm.

I did not support Obama for many reasons, not so much for higher taxes, but more so because I believe he lied time and time again about his radical and racist associations. That being said, he won and is now my President. I wish him well and will support him because he is our President and I love America.
However, President Obama still has to prove to me and many of his non-supporters that he will serve all of the people, not just certain groups and is trustworthy enough to deserve to be an American President.
I believe all Americans should support whoever is President regardless whether they like them or not. President Bush made some serious mistakes and took some terrible advice from his administration. Hopefully, we will learn from those mistakes and put our country back on track. Whether you like President Bush or not he deserves a thanks from the American people for keeping our homeland safe ever since that horrific day on 9/11. He deserves that much.
God Bless America.
Talk to you again in four years. It’s been entertaining blogging with all of you.

There are no facts to substantiate that. Just charges. He helped all of Vietnam by leading the effort to normalize relations. Now, back to the subject, Barack. His brother could use a new shack. The Myths:
bullet Not all US POWs were released by their captors at the end of the Vietnam War.
bullet The U.S. government knew that all POWs were not released.
bullet U.S. POWs remain in captivity today.
bullet There is a conspiracy within the U. S. government to hide the continued imprisonment of Americans and, whenever the truth emerges, it is debunked.
bullet The U.S. government is doing nothing to account for or recover missing men.
The Facts:
bullet All U.S. POWs captured during the Vietnam War were released, either at Operation Homecoming (spring, 1973) or earlier.
bullet The only men captured and not released are 113 who died in captivity; their identities and the circumstances of their deaths are known; some of their remains have been recovered/returned..
bullet No U. S. prisoners of war have been abandoned by the U. S. government.
bullet No U.S POWs remained in captivity after the conclusion of Operation Homecoming.
bullet There is no conspiracy within the U. S. government to conceal the abandonment of prisoners of war (who were not abandoned in the first place).
bullet No U.S. POWs from Indochina were taken to the Soviet Union, China, or any other third country.
bullet The U.S. government has been — since well before the end of the Vietnam War — exerting all possible efforts to recover or account for missing men. That effort continues today and is unprecedented in the history of warfare.
Those who promote these false claims have produced a vast array of half-truth, untruth, hearsay, unsubstantiated claims, personal attacks, and mythology. The accumulated effect of years of nonsense has been exactly what one would expect:
The big lie has been accepted as truth in some quarters.
So, what do I know about it?
My Credentials

If it didn’t happen the teo terms of the Bush’s administration I’d think it won’t happen! The middle class are the ones who pick up the tab anyhow! The rich don’t pay taxes they have loopholes!
Greg….By the way (conservative Fat Cats)don’t fork out a dime for anyone unless it would be another tax write-off
they shouldn’t pay taxes according to Bush/McCain, so they can keep getting bigger and provide all those big jobs for all the slaves who make them rich!
Thats why there are so many new banks going up they have run out of room to store their money!
By the way I thought Obama was supposed to give tax breaks to those earning $250,000… now its down to $120,000!
OOPS! We are in trouble already and he’s not even sworn in!!!
I wonder how many other things he will back out of!
I voted early and think I have made a big mistake already, especially after hearing he will be doing away with Coal mining! Why did these things come out after I already made the mistake of voting for him!

I think we need to be hoping that the lower classes of ALL races now have the opportunity to pull themselves up and rebuild their communities. Welfare and poverty is just as tragic in the Black community as it is in Latino communities, and poor White communities (ever heard of Appalachia?). President-Elect Obama is a president for AMERICA as a whole, not for one race. I was in front of the White House on election night and can tell you that 90% of those people celebrating and showing their excitement about the new chapter in our nation’s history that is about to be written were not Black. The crowd was White, Black, old, young, tall, short, Jewish, Christian, Muslim – you name it. Open your mind, join the 21st century and stop all this socialist talk. You just make yourself sound stupid trying to stir up fear about things are just not true. We see how well that worked for the McCain campaign. President-Elect Obama is going to make this country better for all of us, so be grateful.

Just so you know, there were at least as many Georgetown students as George Washington students…

Also, there were plenty of non-students out there…parents, kids, even people over 30!

Having been at the White House on Tuesday, I have to say this article got it wrong. It definitely wasn’t just GW students out in front of the White House, and it *deeeefinitely* didn’t disperse at midnight.
It started out as GW students.. then everyone in the DC area saw on the news that there was a gathering in front of the White House, and ran over there post-haste.

I guess I am considered an “old guy”- although I certainly don’t feel like it. This election got me off the computer and out in the streets to work the election and help show that “Yes We Can!”. The last time I felt this hopeful about the USA was when I worked to support JFK! There will always be nay-sayers and small-minded people in any situation, but the election map says it all – we are not red states and blue states but the United States! I feel nothing but pride and gratitude over this election. It will take years to undo the damage Bush & Company have done to this nation and to the world, but I really believe that, given time, luck, and the continued support of the people, Barach Obama can lead us into better days.

Anyone who says that those students swarming the White House don’t know anything about politics and will someday regret electing Obama doesn’t know anything about GWU. They have been ranked among the most politically active schools in the country for many years, and most students there are VERY well aware of what is going on… don’t write them off just because they are young. Who would want to go to school near the White House except for a bunch of poli sci nerds?
