Phils fan Biden rallies City of Brotherly Love
ABC News’ Matthew Jaffe reports: Last Wednesday night, the Philadelphia Phillies, the losingest franchise in all of sports, surpassing 10,000 losses last season, ended 28 years without a title by winning only the second World Series championship in team history.
On Election Eve, just blocks away from the Phils’ Citizens Bank Park, Sen. Joe Biden, D-Del., held his last rally before voters hit the polls Tuesday, joining his wife Jill, an avid Phils’ fan, and the team’s captain, shortstop Jimmy Rollins, in urging supporters in this battleground Keystone State to help Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., win the White House.
"Philadelphia, wassup?" said the man known as J-Roll.
“Tomorrow’s a great day, an opportunity to make history again,” said Rollins, who helped the Fightin’ Phils end the City of Brotherly Love’s 25-year title drought, the longest of any American city with four professional sports teams. “We took the curse off by winning a championship. Now it’s time to take the curse off America! It’s time to make a change and we can do that – go out there and vote Obama!"
Moments later, Jill Biden took the stage, sporting a red Phils’ warm-up jacket and waving a white Phils’ towel before a raucous crowd of 2150 in Marconi Plaza as Rollins presented the senator with a Phillies home jersey with “Biden 08” on the back.
“One of the best nights of this campaign was watching the Phillies win the series,” said Jill Biden, who attended the clinching Game 5 victory. “But with your help we can win another big victory tomorrow night! We can make Barack Obama and Joe Biden president and vice-president of the United States!”
"Woohoo," she said as she introduced her husband, a Phils fan himself.
“This woman bleeds red,” noted Sen. Biden.
“I feel good tonight because, you know, you know, things end well when you’ve got Jimmy Rollins leading off the batting order here tonight, I tell you what,” said the Democratic vice-presidential nominee.
“You know, if Barack Obama’s the Jimmy Rollins of the ticket, I feel like Jamie Moyer,” Biden said, referencing the Phils’ 45-year old pitcher.
“You know, you know, the reliever,” he told the crowd, even though Moyer is a starting pitcher.
“A little bit older, a little bit older, you know what I mean?” said the 65-year old Delaware lawmaker. “You know, but we make a hell of a team, I tell you.”
“This election is not about Barack, it’s not about me, it’s not about Sarah Palin or John McCain,” Biden said of the Democratic ticket’s Republican rivals. “It’s about you and now it’s up to you. It’s up to you to take back this country. It’s in your hands! In less than 24 hours, we’ll know who the next leader of the free world is. And ladies and gentlemen, I know, America knows that Pennsylvania’s going to decide the next president of the United States of America. And be Barack Obama! Barack Obama!”

George Wallace of the American Independent Party in 1968, won 13.5 per cent of the popular vote and 46 electoral college votes.
Just history that could help defeat Obama.

GOP Election Board members have been tossed out of polling stations in more than half a dozen polling stations in Philadelphia because of their party status.
A liberal judge previously ruled that court-appointed poll watchers could be NOT removed from their boards by an on-site election judge, but that is exactly what is happening.
It is the duty of election board workers to monitor and guard the integrity of the voting process.
Denying access to the minority (in this case Republican) poll watchers and inspectors is a violation of Pennsylvania state law. Those who violate the law can be punished with a misdemeanor and subjected to a fine of $1,000 and sent to prison between one month and two years.
Those on site as describing it as “pandemonium” and there may be video coming of the chaos.

Some of the precincts where Republicans have been removed are: the 44th Ward, 12th and 13th divisions; 6th Ward, 12th division; 32nd Ward, Division 28.
“Election board officials guard the legitimacy of the election process and the idea that Republicans are being intimidated and banned for partisan purposes does not allow for an honest and open election process,” said McCain-Palin spokesman Ben Porritt in a statement to Townhall.
The City of Brotherly Love was roiled in controversy during the 2004 election because of rigged voting machines that showed nearly 2,000 votes for Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry BEFORE the polls had opened. A man also used a gun to intimidate poll workers at Ward 30, division 11 in 2004.

I just voted. My polling place volunteers were working the crowds well, but the school can’t handle the parking, and shopping areas were rumored to be towing. I parked on a sidestreet several blocks away from the school.

“At least six Republican election board workers in Philadelphia were told to leave their polling precincts because they did not belong to the party in the majority and had not received a court order to work on election day, Philadelphia County Board of Elections Supervisor Bill Rubin confirmed.
Rubin said the Election Board requires a court order issued by the Commonwealth Court in Philadelphia for those workers who are not elected to the post.
“The same thing happens in every election,” Rubin added. “These are mostly minority areas that are heavily Democratic and there isn’t a lot of Republican representation.”
Gee…it sounds more like the GOP was breaking the rules rather than being treated unfairly.
Just like always…Republicans cry and whine when they don’t get everything their way…especially when getting what they want means following rules.

Black Panthers holding night sticks are blocking access by white people to polling places in Philly.
This is what the Cult Leader meant when he commanded his legions to go forth:
“I want you to argue with them and get in their face.”
Is this the Change you signed up for?

George Wallace was a racist thug. He didn’t deserve the votes he got. Stop crying about Philly. The Repubs did WAY worse in FL in 2000. I know people who were there! 1,000s of votes denied by Republicans for ‘unsure status’ when the Gore hole was punched on three of four sides… Bummer for you- The US will once again be a country the world respects! Enough of endless war and unilateralism. -> My friends, your time is over! — Take the nice old gentleman and his tittering counterpart and go home! Yes We Can!
