Rove Calls it for Obama: 338-200 Electoral Blowout
Karl "Permanent Republican Majority" Rove is wrong quite often — remember "the math" in 2006? — so Obama supporters should take his final map with that in mind.
That said, it seems not insignificant that Rove writes: "The final Rove & Co. electoral map of the 2008 election cycle points to a 338-200 Barack Obama electoral vote victory over John McCain tomorrow, the largest electoral margin since 1996."

All voters who believe that Obama/Biden can restore our economy and execute his plans for energy independence, education, winning the war on terror, healthcare reform and work toward a balanced federal budget, must exercise their right to vote. Do not believe Karl Rove’s spin on this election. The only thing that counts is your individual vote. Obama/Biden 2008!

And it is this kind of institutional shenanigans that calls for change! I copy one Georgia voter’s report:
““What angers and annoys me is that I voted today in the reddest county (Gwinnett) of a red state (Georgia). At my polling place there were 13 voting machines. THIRTEEN! I was there with 15 others at 5am. It took me 15 minutes to vote once the polls opened. No more than 500 yards away from our precinct was ANOTHER POLLING LOCATION. Reduce…
I do not know how many machines they had, but let’s just assume there were 10, to make 23 machines within 500 yards. A friend voted in Fulton County (downtown Atlanta which is very blue). He said there were FIVE machines at his polling location and it took him 2.5 hours to vote even though he was in line at 6:30. Certainly, the population density of these two locations does not warrant an EIGHTEEN MACHINE DIFFERENCE!!! If anything, being an urban county, Fulton has more voters to service. Anecdotes like this make me question the legitimacy of our democracy and the fairness of our voting process. According to realclearpolitics, Georgia is now in play. We should all hope that voters in all Georgia counties are able to cast their ballots, though this evidence certain implies that doing so will be much less cumbersome for those who live in the RIGHT (pun intended) place.”

Schumer on the Fairness Doctrine: Just think of it as regulating pornography
He’s making a general point about government’s responsibility to oversee the public airwaves. If you’re willing to concede that they have the power and duty to keep one type of material off the air in the interest of the common good, then at least theoretically you’re willing to extend that principle to other types — like, say, political speech, to ensure “balance.”
At least he’s only talking only about the public airwaves, not cable or the Internet. I think.

Let’s not forget that Rove’s policies (along with Cheney’s) and influence on the Bush administration is what got us into this mess in the first place. You can better believe he hopes Obama/Biden win – he hopes they’ll win and get bogged down in trying to fix things so he can say “If a Republican had been elected, things would have gotten fixed.” This guy is a snake-in-the-grass, and should not be given another thought. Yes, everyone get out and Vote. I voted this morning at 7:10 a.m. for Obama/Biden. What a thrill, and I’ve been voting since 1968. Not a long line, but I would have waited regardless. It’s too important not to. I hope everyone gets to vote and there are no “problems” with shortage of ballots, voting machines or other issues. Why can’t we get these problems resolved? This is 2008! There shouldn’t be such discrepancies from state to state, and sometimes even from town to town. Just ridiculous.

Toledo Police brace for possible civil unrest
TOLEDO, OHIO — Toledo police are gearing up for possible “Civil unrest” during and after tomorrow’s elections.
In an internal memo obtained exclusively by NBC 24 News, officers are ordered to “Have their riot equipment with them Tuesday and Wednesday”. Police chief Mike Navarre confirms, officers will have gear similar to the equipment they used during the 2005 race riots. “They have been asked to have their helmets and their gas masks available tomorrow and Wednesday.”, Navarre says, “That’s the equipment they would not normally carry with them on a normal day”.
Navarre also says, officers will not be stationed at individual polling stations. But the memo says otherwise. It reads, “On Tuesday, units shall be directed to patrol the polling locations”.

The media does not speak PUMA. Have you ever heard or seen it used in the media? They know there are some unhappy Hillary supporters out there, but the just assume that almost all of them will come around. The PUMA coalition is an underground movement based on the web. I have lost count of how many websites are devoted to the PUMA phenomenon, but it is way over 100. Like Br’er Rabbit, they are lying low and are about to claw up Obama for what he did to Hillary. Of course, it helps that there is a female on the Republican ticket which gives these folks one more reason to forget about party unity even if they do not agree with her positions.

In the midst of the polling statistics and electoral projections, Sarah is steadfast in her zeal. On a CNN spiel from Wasilla, she remarked that she had faith she would win and begin the transition tomorrow. Begin the transition tomorrow in lieu of an unprecedented blowout of a voting turnout which promises to be confusing? Anyway, as far as I know, Cheney is still around somewhere. Isn’t she a tad overeager?

I wonder what Republican candidate Rove has a tacit agreement to manage in 2012. Don’t be so foolish as to believe Rove doesn’t have a dog in the 2008 election. He does, but it is not John McCain.
I take whatever prognosticators say with a grain of salt. Too much conflict of interest and self-interest. Rove is no differnt.
But I’ll give Rove this much, he is taking a roll of the dice here. Should McCain win, Rove can kiss his reputation as an astute political observer good-bye. God, I hope so.

“Now if we can keep Acorn from sabotaging the votes” “ACORN 338″ “Democrats have Acorn”
Acorn can’t sabotage the vote. They don’t count it. They just register voters. And here’s the thing you seem to all be unaware of: First-time registrants are required to prove their ID.
So if Acorn registers Mickey Mouse, he’s not going to vote unless Mickey Mouse actually turns up with his ID.
Bottom line: Acorn can’t sabotage the vote.

People have been using ficticious names to register since the beginning of our country; however, you must show some form of proof (driver’s license, etc.) in order to actually vote. ACORN’s voter registration problems don’t matter to a hill of beans when it comes to voting. Any high school student who has taken a Civics class could tell you the difference. If you want to look at voter fraud, you need to look at the allocation of voting machines and ballots. THat is where the real fraud is and I’ll bet you most of it is in Red States.

Chavez offers talks with “black man” in W.House
CARACAS, Nov 2 (Reuters) – Anti-U.S. Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez predicted on Sunday the “black man” will win the U.S. presidential race and offered to hold talks with him to improve ties between the superpower and one its biggest oil suppliers.
Barack Obama, the Democratic nominee who would be the first black U.S. president if he wins Tuesday’s election, said this year he would be open to dialogue with leaders like Chavez — a remark that was seized on by Republicans as naive.
McCain, who trails Obama in polls, has labeled Chavez a dictator.
Chavez, a socialist who has mocked President George W. Bush and calls ex-Cuban leader Fidel Castro his mentor, has said there is an inevitable clash between U.S. and Venezuelan interests, although he has at times offered to ease bilateral tensions.

Regarding the Fairness Doctrine: The Fairness Doctrine is not about stopping anyones free speech its about stopping the powerful propaganist like Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh from them spewing there propaganda through out America. There listeners and easily manipulated kind of like a cult for a church. Sean Hannity who will speak about an issue for hours, days, weeks, months, years going on, and on, and on above an issue and eventually its listeners start to believe it.Rush Limbaugh is the ultimate propogandist because he literally thinks his opinon is an actual fact. Listen to his show and focus on what little true facts he talks about. The fairness doctrine would eliminate there cult followers and would have someone there to stop the propaganda. This would help everyone to here both sides of all issues. It isn’t elimanting free speech it actually encourages true dialogue for individual issues.

I have just come from voting for OBAMA.
I a former Republican can hardly wait until I hear CHANGE will come. As I have been informed by the REPUBLICAN’S like Sarah Palin and John MCCain if I don’t vote for them I will not be a TRUE AMERICAN. As they have tried to put us in catagories like PRO-ANTI-MORE American Etc. THERE ARE NO GROUPS, NO BLACK, WHITE, HISPANIC, MEXICAN Etc. I am an AMERICAN PERIOD…. WE ALL LOVE OUR COUNTRY
I was asked last night if I had heard that OBAMA’S grandmother had died, before I could even say anything the woman states “well since the old bag died I guess OBAMA will get more sympothy votes” someone else stated DAM the ##### kicked the bucket finally. I looked at these people and stated that I felt sorry for Mr. Obama as I too was raised by my grandparents because my parents were killed in an accident. I couldn’t imagine the pain he was in as he was so close to his grandmother. One of the woman turned to me with disqust and stated” OH! You are one of those” and walked off. I with open mouth stood there and just couldn’t believe that in 2008 this is what we have come down to. NOW, I know that not all view this same opinion but really…?
This is were our country is now is that we can’t even state condolences to someone we might not agree on. This is sad. I a 55 year old female who was thunderstruck. She this woman who was close to my own age (not a teenager or young adult) didn’t even think twice about what she had just stated. She didn’t care. AS with this group my vote is my opinion but I can see this country needs CHANGE more than EVRE.
Now I can’t blame this all on the Republicans but I will blame them in part with there so called speeches and divisional tactics. You Sarah Palin were the worst. I hope you understand this and will explain to your children one day how you could have taken a high road however decided to sink with your opionions.
As Barack Obama stated on WED. Night this country needs to come together not divide and with him in office I can see this happening.

Let’s get the facts straight. A lot of Latin American countries have socialist policies. It is because of the disproportion of wealth in Latin American countries. Brazil for instance had to institute a extreme squatting law to help give property (wealth) to natives. Chavez is just an extreme example. 8 years of Republican power in the White House was enough!
Even the kind people of the United States got tired of that incompetent nonsense.
The electorate is about to rightfully boot the Republicans out!
No need for Republicans to blame it on the media, or the martians or whoever else you cook up . . . blame it on the leaders you picked (Bush and Cheney) and the results of their 8 years in power.
And blame it on McCain’s display of grossly poor judgement in selecting Palin as VP.
And blame it on McCain looking unsteady and out of balance in his debate performances.
Democratic landslide win!
Posted by: pefros | November 4, 2008, 1:12 pm 1:12 pm
It is in Karl Rove’s self interest for John McCain to lose, so him joining the media drumbeat that Obama will win is not a real shocker.
If McCain lose tomorrow Rove will be back in the business of managing a political campaign, that being for a 2012 Republican hopeful. If, on the other hand, McCain wins then he will have to resign himself to running his mostly irrelevant political consulting firm forever.
Posted by: topo2005 | November 4, 2008, 1:12 pm 1:12 pm
Why Obama will lose today
The mainstream media did everything they could to knock off Hillary Clinton in the primary season and John McCain in the during the general election campaign to help elect Barack Obama the 44th president. Fortunately, their attempt to persuade the American people that the inexperienced and untested junior senator from Illinois is qualified to be president has backfired.
While the media try to weave a story of a unified Democratic Party and a Republican Party in turmoil, the facts point to a different outcome.
This is no small problem. Since Obama has not united the Democratic Party the way Sarah Palin helped McCain unite the Republican Party, the 44th president of the United States will be John S. McCain.

PUMA at The Door
» by Bill Dupray
Literally.
Yesterday afternoon, a woman canvassing the neighborhood (Northern Virginia), stopped by to ask if I would be supporting John McCain. I pointed to the sign in the front yard and gave her my crawl over broken glass answer. I asked her if she had seen the last Mason-Dixon poll giving Obama only a 3 point lead within the margin of error, with a pile of independents. She said she had not. I told her I thought McCain would win the state and the election and thanked her for helping the with the GOTV.
She said, “Actually, I have never done this before, and, to be honest, I was a Hillary supporter. But Jeremiah Wright really scared me, and I decided that I had to help John McCain win this election.”
Isn’t it funny how the PUMAs are everywhere, even at my house, and yet the media has never seen one?…

I am tired of hearing you attack everyone from Palin, McCain, Bush, Rove to any Republican in America. You talk about a united America, but you try to win elections and run the country in a dictatorship by your hate mongering of all conservatives. You started it all with all the racist, red neck talk you mention then complain that Republicans are stating the truth about Obama the socialist/fascist dictator to be. You wonder why this country is going down the tubes when it is the idiots like Obama you elected that ruined Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to begin this economic crisis just so Obama and you Democratic cheat haters can win an election and get a stranglehold on the government. Well, you won and the Depression will begin on Jan. 20, 2009. Way to go. You know how to turn the most free nation in the world into a dictatorship. You will see within 6 months a Depression deeper than you can imagine with tax everyone to the hilt Obama and increase spending ten fold. This will create jobs, yeah. Good luck in this new united country of yours because it is exactly what Obama and the liberals are tying to create, a one party dictatorship. Remember, though unless you do away with parties all together the Republicans will be back in 2012.
Maybe this is why Hillary and Bill decided to campaign more solidly for Obama. They too realize that Obama will create a dysfunctional country and maybe Hillary will be able to defeat Obama in his reelection campaign in 2012 and get the Democratic nomination for Hillary. Yeah, they were smart for backing Obama after they began to back McCain with their comments right after Hillary lost. They woke up and saw she will beat Obama in 2012. See, they know what their doing after all. See you Democrats in 2012.

Pathetic.
On the other hand, we had 8 years of ‘incidents’ on which to judge Bush, Cheney and the Republicans.
Landslide Democratic win! The electorate is about to rightfully boot the Republicans out of office!

Milwaukee- I am from Georgia and believe me there are no problems, not sure where you got your information from but Georgia has been early voting since September 22nd, lines are less than 2 hours today and if anyone in Fulton Co. (Atlanta) thought there were shortages the NAACP would have already filed lawsuits. Georgia has a 30% black population with most in the metro Atlanta area. I find it very strange any precinct in metro Atlanta would only have 5 voting machines.

PITTSBURGH — A John McCain campaign volunteer will enter a probation program for first-time offenders for falsely reporting that a Barack Obama supporter robbed her and then assaulted her and scratched a “B” on her cheek when he saw her McCain bumper sticker.
Ashley Todd, 20, of College Station, Texas, was to be released from the Allegheny County Jail on Thursday after appearing before a city judge and waiving her right to a preliminary hearing on a misdemeanor charge of making a false police report.
Todd has been jailed since Friday, when police say she acknowledged making up the story about the assault and robbery near an automated teller machine two nights earlier. While jailed, Todd underwent a court-ordered psychiatric examination and was deemed to be competent to stand trial, but in need of further counseling.

“…we’re gonna need you to use your influence, your influence within the community, to stand with him. Because it’s not gonna be apparent initially, it’s not gonna be apparent that we’re right.” – Senator Joseph Biden, October 19, 2008
“We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we’ve set. We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded.” – Senator Barack Obama July 2, 2008
“Some bloggers are speculating that Obama’s unpopular move might be to reinstate the draft. Remember he already tipped his hand and called for the creation of a citizen’s army. That was promptly expunged from recorded versions of his speech.” – Clinton Democrats for McCain/Palin (a website)
Something tells me that come tomorrow Karl Rove will want his way-off prediction expunged from the record. Fortunately for us it will be there on the internet for all to see for the rest of recorded time.
Sorry, Karl.

Well, I will just say Obama has done a masterful job of simplifying his message such that the causes of all of our problems have been successfully tied to republicans, whether deserved or not (see tax cuts/economic crisis). McCain did not help by having a poorly run campaign. I also would have rather seen him pick Thompson/Huckabee/Giuliani/Romney over Palin, although I think she has been attacked unfairly to some degree.
I do predict that Obama will win handily at this stage. However, I still encourage other McCain supporters to vote, as strange things happen in elections.
I sincerely hope that the United States is prosperous, (relatively) safe, and a greater advocate for liberty and freedom than any other nation in the world, no matter which party retains power at the federal level.
I will support Obama as our president, as opposed to those who rejected Bush as president because of their ideological disagreements with him.
Part of me is very excited to have someone with such an American story in the White House. In addition, there is no doubt that he is an intelligent, reasonable, pleasant person, with a great deal of charisma (although I tend to be skeptical of leaders who have too much charm). I only hope that Obama does not move us as far left as it seems he will.
I hope that, should he win today, Obama keeps in mind that he represents all of us, including weird mixed-voters like me, not just his die-hard donors and supporters.
I want to express thanks to Mr. Tapper for having such an entertaining and relatively balanced blog, as well. It is a good forum, despite the heated nature of some of the conflicts in the posts from time to time.

“”‘BLACK PANTHERS’ BLOCK ACCESS TO VOTING STATION…”
Wow. Some of you must live in really mean neighborhoods. Here’s what is going on in North Alabama:
People started lining up at 5:30 AM. When I got to the polls at 7:20, the lines were long and the cars were parked a mile away. We walked, we talked, we had a good time. In the lines, me and the two black women behind me joked about anyone hesitating inside the polling office (a church) should be immediately taken outside because after two years and a billion dollars, any one who still can’t decide is not smart enough to vote.
We voted and headed out to Starbucks, Chick-fil-a, Krispy Kreme and Ben and Jerry’s to get our freebies. Now it’s back to work and life goes on better than before.
It’s a bit of a party down here because everyone is glad it is over and glad to have the right to have our say.
America is Fabulous. Freedom to vote, freedom to be together, and free munchies. It doesn’t get better than this.
So put down the bitter butter. You have your moment in the booth and then you have the rest of the day to enjoy it.

Maybe. I didn’t support him.
I voted for him anyway. I am a Democrat.
I don’t like many of his positions, I think his campaign was one of the most mean spirited I’ve ever seen, and some of his supporters are really ready for Thorazine, but all of that aside, he’s our candidate and he will have to step up to the plate now. It is time for a change.
We’re a nation of adventurers and gamblers so we roll the dice with Obama and if it comes up snake eyes, we’ll try again in four years with Hillary. If we can take eight years of Bush, we can take anything.
May having be as good as wanting.

VIRGINIA: Dozens of polling places are experiencing varying degrees of machine malfunctions. Some polling places are either completely closed or have been closed for hours. Thousands of voters may have been turned away illegally by polling workers. Voters have illegally been issued with provisional ballets where machines have been broken.
Students at Virginia Tech, previously the victims of misinformation, have seen their polling place suddenly and unexpectedly moved six miles to a location with little parking.
PENNSYLVANIA: Voting machine malfunctions are widespread and at least a dozen locations, mainly focused on Pittsburgh and Philadelphia. Election Protection has received reports of campaign materials being illegally distributed at polling locations in Pittsburgh. Voters across the state are reporting that they never received their absentee ballots, which is creating additional chaos at the polls.

(AP) Four employees hired by a temporary staffing agency to encourage absentee voting for Republican presidential candidate John McCain say they were instructed to tell people they were GOP volunteers.
Kevin Kennedy, director of the state’s Government Accountability Board, said he received complaints that the workers were told to mislead voters into believing they were volunteers. The complaints have been forwarded to local district attorneys, he said, but it’s unclear whether the alleged deception would be a crime.
The employees told The Associated Press on Monday they were hired by Allstaff Labor Group to go door to door in the Milwaukee suburbs locating McCain supporters and distributing absentee ballot request forms. Allstaff recruited them under a contract with a consulting firm hired by the Republican Party of Wisconsin to run its absentee ballot program.
The workers claim they were told to say they were GOP volunteers even though they were getting paid $10 an hour. They were required to sign agreements stating they would not publicly discuss their work but said they decided to speak out because they were angry they had not been paid for the last few days.

Paul Krugman gets it right.
Instead, the Republican rump, the party that’s left after the election, will be the party that attends Sarah Palin’s rallies, where crowds chant “Vote McCain, not Hussein!” It will be the party of Saxby Chambliss, the senator from Georgia, who, observing large-scale early voting by African-Americans, warns his supporters that “the other folks are voting.” It will be the party that harbors menacing fantasies about Barack Obama’s Marxist — or was that Islamic? — roots.
Why will the G.O.P. become more, not less, extreme? For one thing, projections suggest that this election will drive many of the remaining Republican moderates out of Congress, while leaving the hard right in place.
………….
But the G.O.P.’s long transformation into the party of the unreasonable right, a haven for racists and reactionaries, seems likely to accelerate as a result of the impending defeat.
This will pose a dilemma for moderate conservatives. Many of them spent the Bush years in denial, closing their eyes to the administration’s dishonesty and contempt for the rule of law. Some of them have tried to maintain that denial through this year’s election season, even as the McCain-Palin campaign’s tactics have grown ever uglier. But one of these days they’re going to have to realize that the G.O.P. has become the party of intolerance.
He’s got it perfect. If Obama wins today, the Republican party with the help of FOX and talk radio will be the party of Screaming Zombies that will make the Clinton years look like a walk in the beach.

“But the G.O.P.’s long transformation into …. will pose a dilemma for moderate conservatives.”
You are wrong. The last hurrah of the ultra-right conservatives was 2004. McCain is a centrist by comparison and he did the country a favor by introducing us to Governor Sarah Palin.
The Democrats hammered Hillary Clinton into the ground. It was mean spirited and even if Obama wins, it was a move destined to pay back bad juju three times over to the DNC because it has broken the back of the core supporters. Even if the Dems sweep, they are living on borrowed time.
Sarah Palin is one of the good things to happen in this campaign. She represents the shift of American feminism, a cause often typified by extremism, toward the center.
I am a Democrat and I think Palin will be a positive force. You can disagree with her positions, but the demonization of Palin will only weaken our position in the future. It is time to step back from the campaign adrenaline and take an honest sober look at Palin because this is someone who will be a contender for years to come.
And it’s a good thing. We’re going to need her.

Would that be the same Sarah Palin who gleefully laughed out loud when a Canadian comedian posing as Nicolas Sarkozy said, “I just love killing those animals. Mm, mm, take away life, that is so fun.”
The one that couldn’t name a newspaper or magazine she read?
Sara Palin the energy expert who said, “Oil of coal, of course, is a fungible commodity and they don’t flag, ya know, the molecules where, where it’s going to, where it’s not, but and in the, in the sense of the Congress today they know our very, very hungry domestic markets that need that oil first. So I believe that what Congress is going to do also is not to allow the export bans to such a degree that it’s Americans who get stuck holding the bag without the energy source that is produced here, pumped here; it’s gotta flow into our domestic markets first.”

Watch. It is as natural as a stream blocked at one tributary finding another. Let me tell you something. I listened to the “sound bytes” the MSM played 24/7 non-stop for 2+ months and during the first few days, I decided that I needed to understand who was this angry man ranting at his congregants. So rather than just accept the MSM’s BS and opinions, I researched, found the link to his church and then listened to all his available sermons in their entirety. This preacher, Rev. Wright has been so unfairly MALIGNED by so many people who have only listened to the ‘sound bytes’ rather than even trying to understand the gist of his sermons. Furthermore, Rev Wright served our country as a Marine and was highly decorated as a result of his bravery and service. Not only that, he has served his community on a ‘daily basis’ in every capacity his ‘entire’ adult life. Have you done anything close to that for your country and your community?
Furthermore, I saw him on NPR with Bill Moyers and found that he has a superior intellect, he is witty and he is quite charming. [I have a feeling that one of the primary reasons Obama enjoyed his company so much was because they both have such 'superior intellects' and could mentally spar with one another and throw around ideas - not as many speculate to teach Obama to be a radical!] I hate hearing anyone malign Rev Wright because he has done so much to help others and this is not what he deserves in return. He is so brilliant and has an extremely generous heart. Can you match any of those qualities?

Yep. Obama will win in a landslide. That’s why I am staying home, no need to vote.

I find it extremely disheartening that the press is even allowed to project, predict… anything before ALL voting polls are closed. The press helps to corrupt the entire system. It is rare to actually get the facts and only the facts on any story. Why is it that we the people are treated as though we are idiots. How can you project something when you only have 2% of the information? This process is to important to us as a “Democratic Society” to allow such distortion. There were some comments made just a short while ago about Ohio and the fact that the Obama camp still had people knocking on doors today. The indication being that the sheer saturation of people helped him to win that state. First of all, all votes are not talleyed, second someone knocking on my door is not going to make me vote for you. To make that reference insults the people.

Fungible Molecule,
“Sara Palin the energy expert who said, “Oil of coal, of course, is a fungible commodity and they don’t flag, ya know, the molecules where, where it’s going to, where it’s not, but and in the, in the sense of the Congress today they know our very, very hungry domestic markets that need that oil first. So I believe that what Congress is going to do also is not to allow the export bans to such a degree that it’s Americans who get stuck holding the bag without the energy source that is produced here, pumped here; it’s gotta flow into our domestic markets first.”
I wonder if we (Obama supporters) can get *that on a tee-shirt!
I love it. Thank you. Thank you, indeed.
