Super-Zionist Peretz Defends Khalidi

McCain is using the same sleazy Rove tactics George W. Bush used. He is the same as Bush – under the influence of the slimy right wing of his party. No change there. No change at all.

Jake, just reveal youself and tell us who you have endorsed, and who you will vote for on Tuesday. Tell us any biases you have. I have a bias. My social security number was used by an illegal, and that got stuck on my credit report. That is my bias, against illegal immigrants, such as Obama’s aunt, who is receiving subsidized housing instead of a US citizen.
I also have a bias against an individual who has dedicated a book to Yassar Arafat, and has spoken, explaining the PLOs actions to others, while, when not convenient, saying he was never a spokesman to the PLO. Sounds similar to the behavior of Obama, who claims Khalidi was a ‘neighbor.’ If we were in Mr. Rogers neighborhood, that would be OK. We are not.

Obama was close friends with Ayers and Khalidi, no doubt about that. Ayers dedicated a previous book to Sirhan Sirhan, who assassinated RFK, who had been dedicated to Israel. Why would anyone dedicate a book to an assasin? And why would anyone befriend a terroist who would do that?
Meanwhile, Fox news tried to question Khalidi, who would hang up on them when they called. So they confronted him , and Khalidi goes runnign away like a criminal. Now, isn’t that strange? If you were asked to comment on Obama, would you go running away like a criminal?

Why any American patriot, especially American Jews, would vote for this Obama, a man with a secretive and sinister past, is beyond me. What can you possibly be thinking? Obama, because of his associations, would not even pass a security clearance if he was applying for a job with the CIA or FBI. Yet, we want to give him the highest secuirty clearance in the land as President? How did we come to be so foolish?

Khalidi did not go running away “like a criminal.” He has firmly stated that he will not offer comments of any kind on any of this. It is amazing what kind of negative spin some will put on people’s actions, based on their own preconceived ideas. These nasty comments are shocking.

Where’s the video? to paraphrase Walter Mondale. As someone below has observed, this is just more misdirection…changing the subject. Who cares what this wonk or that wonk thinks? Certainly the Obama campaign, the media, the economy and who knows what else.
The question is really did republicans have anything to offer in a time where the outgoing republican administration is viewed with such disgust both here and around the world, and during a financial crisis in the U.S.?

Does it matter to anyone else that some of the statements that Khalidi has made are made by not only American Zionists, but Israelis themselves? Israelis want a country that stands up to its promise – and its founding – and the Likud party and its agenda do not represent that promise. Does it matter to anybody that Khalidi did work for the PLO durng PEACE TALKS? Do any of you even know what the man has said? There is not question that both McCain and Obama had associations with Khalidi – not to mention the faculty at the University of Chicago and Columbia. You are completely correct that Israeli voters have favored McCain. I can’t wait to see the numbers from New York, which I believe has the highest Jewish population in the world, outside of Israel?. It didn’t look too good for McCain this morning up on the upper West Side.

You know who hasn’t come out in support of Khalidi? Barack Obama. Khalidi was just a fellow professor and a guy whose kids went to the same school.

How did Obama interact? How did he respond?

If Khalidi is the reprehensible character that “Huey Long in Drag” has made him out to be, why did McCain, as Chairman of the IRI, give the guy close to $500,000?
Martin Peretz, editor of the New Republic, is an outspoken advocate for Israeli. Maybe he’s as fed up with the Republican character assassination and “guilt by association” game as the rest of us are.

What is happening here is typical of the past few months of the election. The buzz is completely about Obama’s association with Rashid Khalidi at some obscure event in the distant past.
The pundits stress the association, but not the position Khalidi holds at Columbia, not the prestige of the Univerisity, not that Khalidi is a respected scholar, and of course not a serious discussion of any statements and positions and Rashid Khalidi may have made about the situation in Israel/Palestine.
In fact this is how the game is played.
Very similar to the media madness surrounding William Ayers. Forty years after those events the discussion is not only out of context, the context is not even mentioned – out of consideration for former prisoner of war John McCain?
By the way, Gentleman, history may judge the Reagan Revolution, Contract with America, and the Second Coming of a Bush as a group when discussing this period of American history. It might not be as pretty site in hindsight as you would like.

Obama supporters, say what you want. He ran a dirty campaign against Hillary Clinton when he was supposed to be about change. Because of intimidation, information about him has been buried. He squashes those that disagree. Actually I shouldn’t say he does, he has it done. This is how he operates. He promises everything. I’m waiting to see how long it takes before the excuses start when he can’t keep his promises.

Honestly, does anybody really know the people they interact with? For all I know my neighbor who I have good relations with could be a terrorist. The fact that I have a conversation with him and invite him over for dinner every now and then doesn’t make me a terrorist or sympathetic to terrorism does it?

I have to say I’m incredibly disgusted with so-called Americans who have information at their finger tips, yet still feel it’s okay to besmirch a man like Rashid Khalidi. A man who was born and raised in this country and is also CHRISTIAN (not that it should matter, but since we now live in a nation where people subscribe to the KKK way of thinking, someone who is Muslim is automatically guilty).
This is a man who has worked hard and has both been educated and taught, at some of the most prestigious universities in the world. Instead, you hold up a tax-evading, unlicensed plumber who’s now trying to break into country music, as some folk American hero when all he is is the classic media ##### and phony.
You could only hope to have your children taught by Prof. Khalidi and to aspire to be a rational, non-violent human being. It is not a crime to be a Palestinian or of Palestinian descent, but when the media feeds into the image with its one-sided coverage and waits until the “Super Zionist” gives his *stamp of approval* not to smear this man, then that right there is why the US will never be taken seriously in the rest of the world. What a disgrace.
