The fact that McCain has become EVEN MORE of a right wing tool has cost him the election.
Had he stayed in the middle and piucked a qualified running mate, he was the one Republican that could have beat Obama.
But now? Just look at the electoral map. It’s not “if” Obama will win, it’s only by how much?

Cheney and Rumsfeld started the war in Iraq. Bush has been a puppet for Cheney.
And McCain supported their policies all the way.
Even the 10% that he didn’t vote with Bush, McCain has now changed his mind and fallen right back into line like a good little Republican.
Sorry Maverick, you had a chance a blew it when you put your party’s right wing fringe before the nation.

I know why Democrats and Independents see it that way, but why do you?
Maybe you’re not as ready as you think.

Paul New man that would only leave 1 mil, so I’m sure you exaggerate. You all like to complain about how the country is doing so bad, when GWB took office the DOW was around 3300, today somewhere around 9000, true it dropped, but 6000 is still pretty good. If you want to look at job lose, go back another president, you know the one who signed NAFTA. (I like Clinton, but that was one HUGE mistake). You may want to complain that it is sooooooo bad, but it isn’t that bad!

Dear Jake,
I hope you had a chance to rest.
after the plane landing from 18c to the baby names, i was beginning to worry,
NOW
I am so glad cheney endorsed mccain,
i was wondering where the rnc bigwigs were.
Listen, with the support of john mccain 90 percent of the time the bush/cheney
adm. have
destroyed our standing in the world
destroyed our economy
divided this country.
well on their way to destroying our military.
destroyed a country that did not attack us.
gotten more of our people killed than were killed on 9/11
lied to us.
sat back on their hands and watched with
the rest of us as one of our major cities drowned.
and has congradulated and rewarded more incompetent people for jobs not done, than we can count.
bush and cheney with the support of john mccain-have caused more harm to this country than bin laden did-sadly and savagely bin laden killed over 3k of our people.
bush and cheney with the support of john mccain have just about destroyed us all.
bush and cheney with the support of john mccain have brought this great and might country to its knees
they should be brought up on some type of charges but
all the majority of this country wants is to see the back sides of bush/cheney/condie and the whole lot of them.
we just want them to go.
so with all of this, why would we want to say “Hello,President Mccdain someone who still hasone his handsthe sweat from the palmsof their hands from shaking hands and grinning with them in the white house for the next four years.
John mccain will have to answer for
bush/cheney.
john mccain will not win the election.
the republicans need to go away and
find their soul again. because
bush/cheney have bankrupted the republican party
the only way the george bush will get a lot of american to visit his library
is for him to build to look like an outhouse in the middle of a desolate field.
because that is about what he has done to this country.
we need someone who will at least try to unite this country.
that would not be mccain/palin-they have brought out of people things, it thought civilized people would be ashamed to say.
all john mccain wants to do is win, and he does not care how much he divides the country to do it.
I don’t care what anyone says, it cannot not be disputed
the only people who are talking about uniting this country again are
obama/biden.

Oops right you are! Look I don’t consider GWB a great president, in fact I voted for Kerry last time around. I think he is probably a descent human being and would probably be a great neighbor, just not a great president. He is taking a lot of blame for things he didn’t do. Were the Clinton years good, sure, but they also created the bubble that has recently burst. You can blame GWB if you want, because that is what politics is all about, but it isn’t true. As for John McCain you all can call him McSame, but politics aside we all know it isn’t true.

i agree 100 percent. bush has not been a great president, but the left just blame EVERYTHING on him. which, like you said, is to be expected. it IS politics. but if you do research with an open mind, a non partisan mind, you will find alot of the attacks made from the left against bush and the republicans to just be flat out false. now, again, im not saying that he has done everything right, and there needs to be some changes mde, but voting just for “change” without consideration on what that means, or could mean, is just flat out irresponsible. barack obama just simply does not have the experience to back up his words and promises. its like going all in with a pair of deuces. tell me im wrong people?

HH: “Cheney made no endorsements, only stated he is voting with his party”
Oh yes. He just said “I’m voting with my party.” Just like this:
Cheney: “I believe the right leader for this moment in history is Senator John McCain. John is a man who understands the danger facing America. He’s a man who has looked into the face of evil and not flinched. He’s a man who’s comfortable with responsibility and has been since he joined the armed forces at the age of 17. He’s earned our support and confidence, and the time is now to make him commander-in-chief. I’m delighted to support John McCain and I’m pleased that he’s chosen a running mate with executive talent, toughness and common sense, our next vice president in Sarah Palin.”
Huh. That’s not just stating he’s voting with his party. Odd that. You’d almost think HH was seeking to downplay what Cheney said for some reason. Can’t think why.

no more drastic, than the day when bush walked into the oval office more were working, had homes, and living ok.
to the day when bush walks out of the oval office, and many are now barely hold on to what they have.
if bush had any competency himself, or had surrounded himself with competent
people maybe, he would have tried to figure out a way to keep the economy going.
rather than all hands and eyes off.

“im not even going to get into the “why do you blame bush for EVERYTHING” speech. i just want to ask: why do YOU think barack obama can solve these issues?”
Hey certainly can’t solve the problems by himself. Bill Clinton didn’t make the deficit go away by himself either.
I just believe the GOP have forfeited their right to another 4 to 8 years. They wrecked a perfectly good economy by giving huge tax breaks at the same time they fought two wars – one of which at least was totally futile.
Someone, sometime, has to have the courage to tell the American people there is no free lunch.
Obama is the candidate this time around who has at least tried to imply that somebody has to pay taxes to finance the government – even if it’s only those making over $250k per year.
McCain wants to “win” in Iraq. We didn’t win in Vietnam and we won’t win in Iraq. It was a huge, costly mistake and we have to find a graceful way out.
McCain doesn’t indicate that he’s looking for that.

good recovery, ill give you that. heres the thing. war sucks. also its inevitable. whether you agree with it or not, we are always going to have leaders and governments on earth that require the use of force. its human nature. in case you havent noticed, we are doing a good job in iraq. ALOT of improvement is being made, maybe not enough for some americans, but its not an easy task. its not something you can accomplish overnight, especially when there were alot of mistakes made and it takes time to catch up. contrary to what you and many other on the left say, there is a way to win this war. your definition may be different than mine, but i would say getting power to the iraqi government and getting out, is a win. whether we should have gone in there in the first place is a whole different subject. we NEED TO LEAVE IRAQ A STABLE, SELF GOVERNING COUNTRY. anything less(like obama wants to do) would be a disatorous MORAL FAILURE. spin it any way you want, thats the truth. we have to finish what we started, whether it was right or wrong in the first place. and by the way, the last time i checked, joining the military in this country is STILL VOLUNTARY. and god bless those who decide to do this.

Look at Clinton, he was horrible, we had enough of his lies, his women, his policies, Al Gore wouldn’t even let him campaign with him. It was so bad that even I voted for W the first time around. Tim,
I agree with many parts of your post. Victory is a matter of defining the terms.
I would venture to say, though, that McCain would also consider that the resulting governement in Iraq must be friendly to the USA and would not, for example, become a springboard for Iran propaganda and support of enemies of Israel.
How are we going to guarantee that?
I prefer what was Bush I’s and Clinton’s approach to the US Military post cold war.
That approach was NOT to invade and occupy offending countries but to develop rapid response units which could quickly accomplish tasks and get out with a minimum cost and loss of lives.
The first Gulf war was a good example, as was Bosnia. Somalia wasn’t…

Tim,
“ts funny you say that “someone has to tell the american people there is no such thing as free lunch” regarding barack obama… ”
Once again, I agree partly with what you say.
However, the difference with the pre-crash Obama was that he was proposing to take the money saved by getting out of Iraq and investing it in things like education, alternative energy and health care.
Sure, he certainly wouldn’t have been able to pay for all that. Now, after the financial market imploded, nobody will be able to balance the budget for years to come.
I would just prefer to have someone in there who’s number one priority is NOT trying to WIN in Iraq.

tim,
the last i heard from many of the people we have to listen to as the experts-our military is just about, strapped. and i assure you, mccain way of getting his victory, from what he is saying, will sooner bring the idea to an all vol. mil. to a halt.
we will have no other choice.
and by the way, i sit in the middle.
i think the rep. brand is so tarnished, if by some miracle mccain did win, noone believes his victory in iraq will not mean more dead.
I don’t think anyone thinks (world leaders, allies) think diplomacy would be one of mccain’ strong points.
so in that respect, we can expect more of the same. if not worse.
and since you are so for mccain and think his way is the way for this country to go. before the draft goes into effect, god bless you and the many of you who will vol. to help mccain achieve his victory.
I just think obama will at least try to do what he has said all through out his campaign, unite this country, and try to repair our standing in the world, which is important to me. and i don’t hear mccain saying anything like that.
what i hear from mccain, is divide us more.
our country needs to rise again.
mccain will not do that. he has not even suggested that.

As if presiding over 8 years which included ignoring warnings about Osama bin Laden which led to 9/11, starting a war for no reason (and still not capturing bin Laden), a huge deficit, a tanking economy, etc., etc., Bush is now attempting to finish the fabulous job he has been doing as a “steward of the environment” by deregulating/rolling back every environmental protection he can get his hands on before he leaves office in order to benefit his big corporation BFFs. Heads up, polar bears.
8 YEARS OF THIS CRAP IS ENOUGH. YOU GUYS HAVE HAD YOUR CHANCE, THIS COUNTRY CAN’T TAKE ANYMORE OF YOUR “STEWARDSHIP” — OUR TURN NOW.

Tim,
I don’t think we should “just pull out” and I don’t believe for a minute that Obama would do that either.
Pressure has to be put on the Iraqi government to take over military responsibilities and involve all parties in the political process.
A timetable has to be setup for handing over the responsibilities to Iraq, including providing defense and basic services to their people.
Actually, the Iraqi government has requested the US to establish a timetable. The Bush government has resisted this and McCain chastised Obama as being naïve and unpatriotic for suggesting this.
McCain wants to win, win, win this war.

i apologize. usually people just get a question like that, and leave.. lol im a slow typer as well. well, you still didnt really answer my question!!! first off, im not “pro mccain”. it truly is a lesser of two evils for me. and its not just mccain or obama. i just believe that the democratic party is slowly being taken over by extremists. obama, pelosi, reid, frank, dodd, etc., etc. this is the reality. 9 percent approval rating in congress?? seriously?! the democrats have not come up with ONE solid idea in congress in two years. now again, im not saying the republicans did a great job either. im an independant. i dont support one party or the other. but the democrats just have alot worse ideas in general, on every topic, in my opinion. but i have to ask my original question again: why do youthink obama is the guy to turn this around?! all you said is “I just think obama will at least try to do what he has said all through out his campaign, unite this country, and try to repair our standing in the world, which is important to me”. you have to have reasons other than that. i realize you probably lean to the left, which is ok, but what makes you believe him?
Posted by: tim | November 2, 2008, 10:17 am 10:17 am
paul new man…
ok, i see your point. and i want to get out of there as quickly as possible too. and by pulling out ASAP, i dont mean obama will pull out all the troops at once, but he is going to do what he wants, as quickly as his advisors tell him to do it. that means, worrying more about getting out than the effect of doing so. i just dont agree with the timetable thing either, but force does have to be on the iraqi government, definately.
Posted by: tim | November 2, 2008, 10:21 am 10:21 am
tim,
i support obama, because he is the opposit of bush/cheney.
since mccain said he agreed with bush ninety percent of the time.
and mccain has not told me exactly how he would put policies into place or govern different from bush, i will assume he still supports what bush has done. and i don’t want. that.
obama has talked about ways to help the middle class-which is the real driving wheel of this country. we the middle class people of this country are the engine that run this country.
plus dare i say, the history making aspect of this election.
bush is a republican.
mccain is a republican
i think the world sees the wrong that has happened to this country, as the republicans fault.
I truly believe we would have been electing a democrat for president anyway this time around.
for it to be obama-really does sent a good and positive message to the rest of the world, that inspite of what has happened over the last eight years.
bush and his republican are NOT represenative of what the american people want.
the world will see us as at least trying to get back on the right track.
for all of the people who are against obama, and as you keep saying ‘on the left” obama will have to gov. from the center. and he is a smart guy, and i do think he has a nature of wanting to be fair. (unlike what i think of bush/cheney and mccain with their my way or the highway kind of attitude)
if obama means to do half of what he has campaigned on, our country will get back up on it’s feet again. and our allies will see us as serious players again.
and i hope you are fairminded enough, to admit, the tone of obama/biden rallys are of a lot nicer tone than the mccain/palin rallies.
I have been ashamed to watch some of the mccain/palin rallys. I have always seen cindy mccain as a refined woman,
and what has been happening at their rallys-i would like to believe the circle of people they run in, and the mccain are above what we see and hear at their rallys. but the more we go on.
the more i chalk it up to mccain will endure even debasing himself and his family to win.
Iwill still hold on to my belief that the Mccain’ are upstanding people of refinement, but they just want to win.
and that will bring a lot of people down.
I sometimes imagine mccain at night when the light are out saying to his wife. “I hate we have had to do some of the things we have had to be a part of doing, but we need to win.”
as i have said
I want to believe the mccain’ are better
and above what they have had to do to try and win.

“I need you to go out and talk to your friends and talk to your neighbors. I want you to talk to them whether they are independent or whether they are Republican. I want you to argue with them and get in their face,” he said.
“And if they tell you that, ‘Well, we’re not sure where he stands on guns.’ I want you to say, ‘He believes in the Second Amendment.’ If they tell you, ‘Well, he’s going to raise your taxes,’ you say, ‘No, he’s not, he’s going lower them.’ You are my ambassadors. Right, “O” said that. How many acolytes haven taken him up on that is hard to say. Perhaps I am being pollyana-ish, but I think it is a very small, but vocal minority. i hope so anyway.
I am still stunned that a man who is a media creation (and it continues with being on the cover of the current GQ magazine) and has the most leftist voting record in the Senate (which he served in for less than a half year before starting his run for president) may be ruling this country in a few months. Meanwhile a man like John McCain (check out his amazing bio folks) would lose to him. I wouldn’t believe it if it were a book or movie, but here it may come to be.
But this thing isn’t over yet, so lets not get ahead of ourselves. Any web seach on President Dewey would tell you that.

Funny how the GOP’ers take everything out of context to suit their own purpose.
McCain is using the exact same Karl Rove smear and fear tactics Bush and Cheney did.
We all hoped there would be a difference but there is none. McCain is in the gutter with the same Bush/Cheney advisers and strategists.
Bush/Cheney’s sleazy tactics = McCain’s sleazy tactics.
This is not change. This is more of the same slimy politics.
The electorate will rightfully boot the Republicans out of the White House.
No more sleazy politics. Boot the Republicans out of the White House!
If you have to take a test to get a driver’s license, don’t you think you would have to take a test to show you have some basic knowledge of what you are voting for?
Who is your Congressman / Congresswoman?
Who are the Presidential Candiates running mates?
Who are your US Senators?
4 our of 10 Register voters can’t answer the above questions.
Some even thought Sarah Palin was Obama’s running mate.
Ignorant masses believe propaganda….

I think he is probably a descent human being and would probably be a great neighbor, just not a great president. He is taking a lot of blame for things he didn’t do. Were the Clinton years good, sure, but they also created the bubble that has recently burst. You can blame GWB if you want, because that is what politics is all about, but it isn’t true. i agree 100 percent. bush has not been a great president, but the left just blame EVERYTHING on him. which, like you said, is to be expected. it IS politics. but if you do research with an open mind, a non partisan mind, you will find alot of the attacks made from the left against bush and the republicans to just be flat out false. now, again, im not saying that he has done everything right, and there needs to be some changes mde, but voting just for “change” without consideration on what that means, or could mean, is just flat out irresponsible. barack obama just simply does not have the experience to back up his words and promises. its like going all in with a pair of deuces. tell me im wrong people?

Can’t think why.

no more drastic, than the day when bush walked into the oval office more were working, had homes, and living ok.
to the day when bush walks out of the oval office, and many are now barely hold on to what they have.
if bush had any competency himself, or had surrounded himself with competent

i say that because i believe john mccain wants VICTORY IN IRAQ as he continues to say, and i say for all of the people who are cheering at that at his rallys, and on this blog commenting support for him. should put their comments where their hearts are, and get to doing what john mccain wants.
when he is not running obama down that is him number one mantra
victory in iraq. now I don’t know what victory in iraq looks like, or how mccain plans to get it, or when we will know we have it. but i do know, john mccains victory in iraq will mean more precious lives lost.

Tim,
“im not even going to get into the “why do you blame bush for EVERYTHING” speech. i just want to ask: why do YOU think barack obama can solve these issues?”

Why is it in the last days of presidency they are the WORST president to ever hold the office. Look at Clinton, he was horrible, we had enough of his lies, his women, his policies, Al Gore wouldn’t even let him campaign with him. It was so bad that even I voted for W the first time around. Now here we are one president later and Clinton is the best thing since sliced bread and W is horrible. It’s a cycle. Tell me again in a year how wonderful the next president is…remember your words here and now and compare them in a year.

tim,
unlike paul new man
i am going to make the face of blame george bush.
he wanted to be the leader of this country, and proceeded to lead us into a ditch, and now he and his crew want to tell us to ride the straight talk express. with a man that even bush tried to distroy.
it is all a game to them.
and to the young voter who said
obama is a serial lie-and would be the worst president in us history.
we are now still living with the worst president ever. george bush.
the underlying current, that keeps all of us on tenderhooks right now, is that george bush might do something else before jan 20th.

its funny you say that “someone has to tell the american people there is no such thing as free lunch” regarding barack obama… lol this guy has free lunch written all over him, are you kidding me???!!! it would be different if your going to tax more and spend less, but thats not the case. its pointless. he is just going to distribute it differently, he will definately not do anything for our debt. neither will mccain. i know all of you obama supporters are ecstatic nowadays, but believe me, neither of these guys are implying they will lead us to a more fiscally conservative government. not even close.

Tim,
I agree with many parts of your post.
Somalia wasn’t…

ok, let me try this again… lol you can sit and play the blame game all you want, it makes no difference. i asked WHY DO YOU THINK BARACK OBAMA WILL TURN ALL OF OUR PROBLEMS AROUND? its a pretty simple question, if your going to reply with another “bush is to blame” reply, dont bother. im curious to find out why obama supporters believe he is the guy for the job….

Tim,
“ts funny you say that “someone has to tell the american people there is no such thing as free lunch” regarding barack obama… ”
I would just prefer to have someone in there who’s number one priority is NOT trying to WIN in Iraq.

i see what you’re saying, but you think we should just pull out of there ASAP???!!! i realize alot of people think we are wasting alot of money in iraq, money that we could be using here at home, but just pulling out would be more irresponsible than going in there in the first place. see what i mean? every decision has consequences. obama and all those on the left can talk all day about it being the wrong thing to invade in the first place, but you have to realize its going to do just as much harm to the innocent lives if we just pull out. we can learn to cut spending in MANY other areas than just the war. im not saying we should be there forever either, but you think the worl hates us now for going into iraq, just wait till your canidate just starts pulling troops out because he didnt think it was a good idea in the first place.

tim,
the last i heard from many of the people we have to listen to as the experts-our military is just about, strapped. and i assure you, mccain way of getting his victory, from what he is saying, will sooner bring the idea to an all vol. mil. to a halt.
we will have no other choice.
and by the way, i sit in the middle.
i think the rep. brand is so tarnished, if by some miracle mccain did win, noone believes his victory in iraq will not mean more dead.

The entire quote:
