Thanksgiving 2008

I’m sitting here in Kansas City with my wife, baby, and in-laws.

Alice, 15 months, is eating toast, sitting on my lap.

Grandpa just asked Grandma what the name of the green muppet in the trash can is. (Oscar.)

We’re all feeling very grateful. What are you thankful for this year? Happy Thanksgiving.

My family is very grateful.
It looks like after the past 8 years where we felt our country was being destroyed, we are going to have an administration who believes that their responsibilities lie with the public interest.
I think this era will be recorded in history as a time where the people woke up and insisted that the Government start working for them. Fortunately it coincides with a time when a leader emerged that also believed it is up to the people. It appears that Barack Obama has all intent to work to keep us informed and engaged.
Very thankful, indeed.

I am thankful that we have Thanksgiving, because it forces us all to stop for a moment and re-center ourselves. One whole day where perhaps at least for just a second, we contemplate what we’re thankful for, and not just how bad the economy is, etc.

I am thankful that I have a lord and savior Jesus…. I am thankful for my husband and children and that we are able to live inspite of the financial hardship.

I am so very thankful for my wonderful husband and daughter, and my four grandchildren. We have been so blessed for having them in our lives.
But I am so thankful that finally, after 8 years of putting up with the worst POTUS in American history, he will be leaving office NEVER to return again or at least to have no impact on our lives. I am so thankful that my husband and I were never fooled by W and that we did not vote for him in either 2000 or 2004. Wn cried when we found out he was elected; what a shame for our country.
But we did vote for Obama and are so overjoyed that he will be in charge in less than two months. With Obama being the person who directly impacts our lives, he will become the one we are most thankful for at this time of year.

We are thankful for Hillary to take her country first and the position of the SoS.
She will ensure no major boneheaded mistakes to occur under our Greatest Dearest Smartest clueless Leader.

I’m thankful that as a country, we’ll be going forward for a change. We should also be thankful for being able to bask in a normalcy over the holidays. But most of all in the immediate sense, I am thankful for a bottle of Tylenol for a fever, and conversely, for my health which is ordinarily good.

I am thankful that I am learning each day what not to write if you want to get a post by the Obamarators.
…Oh, and also for family, health, being in the best country ever (bar none!)and for Jake being just a “sipper” (and not a “chugger”, like are the rest of the Obama kool aid drinking media).

I am grateful for your great works done in following the President-elect. And, I am the most grateful that you yourself can rest off from the busy transition period that Obama is entering. I wish that you may one day be allowed to stand behind the President Elect podium explaining what occurred plus informing us that you are not the President Elect.
I want to thank you for all your quick and good works.

I’m thankful for being an American; for my family and friends; for the right to worship as I wish; read what I want to; say what I want to; vote for those who govern; for those who volunteer to serve, whether it be in the military, fire/rescue, police, and to help the hungry and the poor, and for my two cats, Corey and Jasper, whose antics amuse me, purrs soothe me and love is unconditional.

I am thankful that Jake is enjoying his family time and building memories with his adorable daughter. I am grateful that I had a wonderful Thanksgiving with my own family, with only one major absence. I am grateful for cellphones that allowed the absent son to call and share some time that day.
I am thankful that Rick Astley made the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade the most hilarious one ever. I am thankful that the Lions did not lose even worse than they did.
I am thankful that only a couple of the posters here insisted on fussing about “the last 8 years” and how grateful they were that Obama is on the way to replace the evil-incarnate-in-their eyes Bush. Me, I’m grateful to Bush for all he has done to serve and protect our nation through an incredibly difficult period. And I am grateful for peaceful transitions and regular elections.

I am thankful for surviving perhaps the worst year of my life, that my family has stuck by my side and that I finally know that things will get better.

I am thankful that my husband has a job, that we still have on the table, that we are still able to give. I am thankful that my son came last week with the baby (she’s a beauty). I am thankful that yesterday was a beautiful day here in KC and we even filled the bird and squirrel feeders (they enjoyed Thanksgiving too). I am especially thankful that today I didn’t have to do any shopping at NFM, they looked like thousands of tiny ants running into the store…

I thankful for my family. Although I lost my father this year, I am thankful that I still have my mother and my siblings. I am thankful for my job, my education and my peace. And I hope I won’t annoy some of you with this, but I am thankful that Obama won. I would have felt very sad if he didn’t. And, of course, I am thankful for the occasional laugh on Jake’s blog (lol pefros). Although I do not celebrate the thanksgiving holiday, I still like the opportunity it gives people to contemplate the things they are thankful for.
Happy thanksgiving to you all and an especially Happy Thanksgiving to Alice and all the children out there. I hope they all get to have a bright future.

First and foremost, I’m grateful for my family.
Having just trolled AP reports, I’m grateful that I don’t shop at Wal-Mart.

Thankful for my wife.

Grateful that I wasn’t at the New York Walmart that didn’t have security measures in place to prevent the stampeding poor people shopping for bargains with a ‘me first’ attitude from trampling the minimum wage Walmart worker to death today! Guess Walmart saved money by allowing media to hype their stampedes instead of buying real advertising. Walmart could have bought security force services that provide real safety/security analysis and loss prevention planning, but it was cheaper to hire someone for minimum wage and tell them to get medicaid for health coverage.
First rate country to third world culture looking out for big business/the Waltons bottom line. What a shame. What a shame!

Thankful the neither me nor my family work at Walmart and that we are all in good health w/o medicaid.

I’m thankful for my family- my parents, brother, sister-in-law and nephews- one of whom is going to be a teacher in a year or so and the other of whom is going to work with animals- what great choices! I am thankful that I am employed, that I am healthy enough and that I have friends. I am thankful that I am free to practice my religion. I am thankful for the hope being instilled by the President Elect and for the smoothness of the transition.

I am thankful to have the peace in my life to finally pause and ask about “Oscar”. (He seem a bit of a despot, but for the sake of peace I will not guess his party preference) The Granddaughter has an opportunity to grow to her maximum with the influence of wonderful loving parents and caring family. For this I am very thankful.

I’m thankful for you, Jake, just about the only member of the media who came through this election cycle with his integrity intact.

Jake – Did you notice the price of gas in Kansas City? $1.43 by where I live on the Missouri side of Kansas City. One thing to be thankful for during the financial crisis.

we are thankful for YOUR hard work and unlike other journalists who have falling in Obama’s hypnosis, you seem to be your own man.
We are thankful for that!

I am thankful I do NOT eat animals or turkeys. Animals feel pain, want to live, just like you and me. I prefer to watch the wild turkeys in the forest near me. Free and beautiful.

I’m happy that America has seemed to survive the 8 most nightmarish years in its history. I’m hoping that the next 4 years will be an improvement that will last. I’m glad to be born American and I want to always be happy about that.
