The First You-Tubed Weekly Presidential Address

I’m glad Obama’s got his priorities straight. The work will be hard, but yes we can!
Alternative energy. Alternative energy. Alternative energy. Can’t say it enough.
Creates jobs — jobs at home!

President Obama is as uninspired as President Bush.

Funny….I see ABC already calls their Messiah “President” rather than President “Elect”…I can’t wait for the shot of him healing the blind, calming the storm and walking on water. I guess the Parable about the 3 talents will be translated as 3 people who will pay more taxes, get less for their money and their government

Yes We can
Change we can believe in
Change we needed
Well, the only change I see so far is election. All the Clinton’s staff are back at Obama’s house.
What change may I ask? Should vote for Hillary and NO change is needed

This is real convenience for Obama since he has the teleprompters right in front of him.
Hillary does not need teleprompters.
She can speak DIRECTLY to American people.

Jen,
So? Can you perhaps point out something more trivial??
“A teacher reads out of a textbook instead of talking DIRECTLY to his people” Oh noes, he must be talking nonsense

Posted by: Question | November 16, 2008, 1:40 pm 1:40 pm

Skip,
how so? it says ‘presidential address’, which it is. Its an existing tradition that used to happen on the radio, now it also happens on yt (Jake, why can’t we write the whole word there?). As for the person delivering it, i believe he is referred to as the ‘president elect’ under the video.
What would you like it to be renamed? “presidential-elect address”?

Posted by: Question | November 16, 2008, 1:41 pm 1:41 pm

Hey Skip, You obviously make a quarter million dollars or you wouldn’t be worried about taxes under Obama. Messiah, hardly how about someone who actually has a vision rather than an excuse to clean up Daddy’s Iraqi mess.
With that said when do you start to pull together with the rest of us for change. If you liked the economy for the past eight years why don’t you continue to live in it. While big corporations were setting up shop overseas the rest of us pea on workers did not even get a cost of living increase. But I forgot you make over a quarter million and would like more of the same. People wonder why Americans can’t afford to pay their house payments. Your job went overseas the pay the people over there less to make the product and we the American people bend over and pay out the gazoo for a product they now make huge profits off of. These corporations want to now screw you on your pension. We have to pay so much for there pension so were going under. Every corporation will now screw the American workforce despite the fact they were making profits just bad business decision. We the rest of the people want real change. First of all
spending 10 billion in Iraq is not change it is more of the same. Thats 10 more billion we could feed our own people with. You want to continue on the War Mongers path suit up and go over seas and fight for Iraqi freedom.
I am choosing to support the president and his policy’s including taxing the rich scum who have actually stolen our retirement. The money didn’t just disappear who has it and why aren’t we going after them to pay it forward?

I like you common sense just wish the rest of the country had you.

I hope he will continue to do this, even when the going gets tough.

Posted by: W | November 16, 2008, 2:06 pm 2:06 pm

this will be good for our country.
the only time any of you detractors need to worry, and his supporters to.
is when his messages start being played over loud speakers in the streets.
and we are given headphones to listen to his messages in our sleep.

Posted by: W | November 16, 2008, 2:09 pm 2:09 pm

oh yes, and we are told to call him,
chairman or commrade, or superbrother.

Obama unplugged (ie. without teleprompters) will be short and very infrequent occurrences. The tightly scripted $700 million dollar movie that took place over the last so many months was just a prequel to more of the same.

I hope Obama continues to give these addresses to keep us informed and to cheer us up a bit. The idea of citizens being active and informed in a democracy sounds right.
For those who are complaining about Obama using a teleprompter, you just sound silly. Everyone uses them, whether they are politicians or newscasters for the simple reason the speaker doesn’t want to leave out details, wants a short message and doesn’t have the time to memorize a speech.

****************************************
Hmm….. Let’s start with Bush out of Office, then lets say that a Republican is not in office, then let’s say that the Republicnas have lost more seats in congress and senate, then lat’s say that policies are changing.
Yes it is change. I have no idea what your idea of change is.
If anyone thought that all of Washington would be thrown out, and a bunch of new folks would just walk in and start the business of forming a government, you are sadly mistaken.
I voted for change, not chaos

Would someone remind President-Elect
Obama that his presidency begins on
January 20th, 2009.

Posted by: CHS235 | November 16, 2008, 4:27 pm 4:27 pm

Wasn’t Obama the one who said there can only be ONE President at a time? Or is he changing his mind about that too?

Posted by: ellsbells930 | November 16, 2008, 5:29 pm 5:29 pm

To repeat, the change I voted for when I wholeheartedly supported Barack Obama was the end to a fake war, weasel-words on torture, renditions to black hole prisons, warrantless wiretaps, and incompetent departments like FEMA, that still has not completed its job in the gulf states. We need people in the new administration who know what the heck they are doing and are not afraid to say so to the the President-elect’s face, be they Dem, Independent or GOP. Let’s get this mess taken care of.

Obama leading America into the 21st Century!!!
Oh by the way, there was a surpulus (+) in the Clinton Administration which mean “RALLY UP THE OLD GANG”!!!
THEY KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING!!!

I hope this regular communication continues. We are all in this together and need to be supportive and work together. Let’s stop being so petty and come together as a community. Let’s be the United States at its best. WE CAN DO THIS!

This man will not be my president. Not ever. I will not give in I will not “work together” – I respect the office of President but I will not support this socialist. Not ever. Not ever – get it?

This is the guy with the fake Presidential seal, who had Greek columns (like found on the White House) for his convention acceptance
speech, and who had a setting resembling the Oval Office for his campaign infomercial.
He has been playing Commander in Chief in his own 700 million dollar movie for the past several months. This movie had such an astronomical budget because he CHANGED HIS MIND about accepting federal financing campaign limits. So why should we be suprised if he changes his mind about there being one President at a time.
But the bigger question is this: Is there any substance to the leading man when the cameras aren’t rolling? You Tube videos won’t tell us that. That we will learn after he becomes the President… for real.

Tess then why don’t you just move.

Posted by: oo | November 16, 2008, 10:35 pm 10:35 pm

Dear Tess
I see where President Obama is not YOUR president. What a small person you are and to announce it in writing really does show how small you are.
For 8 years I hated everyday of President Bush’s presidency but I supported him because he was MY president.
I hate the war Bush lied to us about, I hated last April when I saw my nephew off to his 8th deployment to Afghanistan and I hated it when taps was played at his military funeral when he was killed in action in May. I still hate it so much that I cry every day for my nephew. I miss him and his loss is a hole in my heart that will never go away.
My suggestion for you is very simple. You need to get a one-way airline ticket to a democratic country of your choice where you hopefully will find a president to support.
We don’t need or want you here. We have a huge job ahead of us to repair the damage YOUR president and YOUR party did to OUR country and the damage YOUR president and YOUR party did to ALL the American’s like me who LOVE this country with all our hearts.
Goodbye and good riddance.

Tess
I am sorry but Obama is not a socialist. If raising the taxes by 3% on top of income made over 250,000 dollar is socialist then I guess you failed history. Socialist is when the government owns everything and I don’t see that passing congress at all money off their banks I don’t think Obama is a socialist.

There sure is alot of hate in the world. Hmm wonder where one should begin to change things?

Posted by: Hearts | November 16, 2008, 10:46 pm 10:46 pm

Every week?
Crikey, between youtubing and his workouts is he actually going to DO anything?
And am I the only one who finds a bit big brotherish?

Posted by: Mark | November 17, 2008, 4:49 am 4:49 am

NAdine & Charles Elswick – You hope the communication continues? Obviously you didn’t know that Presidents have given WEEKLY radio addressess for DECADES. Obama isn’t doing anything new, except expanding the format.

Posted by: ellsbells930 | November 17, 2008, 6:39 am 6:39 am

Seriously, his presentation needs some livening up, especially when you think of the typical fare on You Tube. Obama is reading platitudes straight off the teleprompter. If he continues this presentation, Aunt Bea’s 65th birthday in Des Moines will be receiving more hits than his addresses.
