Turnout
We’re already getting calls and emails from people all across the country saying there are lines everywhere. We are going to break voter turnout records this year, huge records. More than 130 million people are likely to vote this year. That is a huge record. Beyond that though, ever since 18-year-olds got the vote back in 1971, the percentage of eligible voters has never really topped by any significant margin 60 percent. This time around it could hit 62, 63, or 64 percent of eligible voters. That is huge. If it hits 65 percent, it would be stunning. You have to go back to 1908 to find numbers like that, before women or 18-year-olds got the vote, when it was just adult men controlling the electorate. If we top that number today, it would be absolutely amazing. –George Stephanopoulos

Not really, this would be the expected result after 8 years of a government the rest of the world sees as a joke.
Still, just 65% of the eligible population voting reflects on how unseriously Americans take the fate of their country.

Go get them Barack and show them what a dirty champaign will do for them >>>>>I hope you wipe them clean,I voted republican most of the time but right now I want NOTHING to do with the Republican party.I hope it takes years to get back what these two have taken away from them…

Don’t take my word not to vote for Obama, take someone elses.

It is ashame that people ignore the signs of who Obama is about. If someone was a member of the Latin Kings for 20 years, never killed anyone and was running for president said that “my associations mean nothing”, would we still vote for them if they were running for president???? It looks as if you have a slogan of CHANGE, people still would.

The last place I’ll look to follow the election results is ABC and George Stephanopoulos. This little worm has tarnished journalism forever. He has been blatantly biased throughout the campaigns.
Filth follows filth so it was an easy choice for ABC to follow Obama.
MCCAIN – THE REAL MAN FOR 08

I voted at 7:10 this morning in a small town in Pennsylvania. I was the 11th to do so and there was a line forming behind me. I have never been so excited to vote (I am 31). Obama 08!

Don’t stop working on making this a landslide.
EVERY vote is necessary for Obama to get the mandate he will need to move forward and make important decisions to make this country great again.
VOTE & get calling to make others vote!

I will vote for Obama.
I volunteered for his campaign but not in the standard way:
His people articulated his vision of community participation in the modern technology age.
I was able to make phone calls while watching my kids plays soccer and practice football. I used a cell phone and an internet connection to download/upload a phone list and results.
If he can bring just this level of smarts to making government better he will rank with the best of the 20th Century (Last century but Bush doesn’t count in this one.).

My wife had to vote absentee yesterday in Louisville, Ky. The County Clerk’s office was well organized and she was in and out in six minuets. Her brother used the absentee ballot in Cincinnati and his wait was 4 hours. They have some sort of punch system so the dangling chads are probably still with us in Ohio. They were driving to Davenport, Iowa to pick up a 32 ton crane. My wife was just talking to me and said the local news stations were porting long line. Looks as if this will have a record number of people voting–and a good thing too!
History in the making makes for record turnouts. Who ever wins will need the support of all the citizens to weather this financial debacle. So maybe it is time to ease up on all the barbed comments from supporters of both candidates.

I am so proud of the campaign that Barack Obama has run. Positive, decisive and honest. The Repubs however ran the usual dirty, low-life campaign…but guess what? It won’t work this time! McCain/Palin are morally and ethically bankrupt! So long Sarah. Go hunt some moose!

Seems we currently have a Christian White House…look where that took us.
Keep religion out of politics.

CHAD votes the “Christian” ticket: ”
Win or lose, at least I know I voted for an honest man with no vermin in his closets. MCCAIN for a Christian White House.”
Like Bush was a Christian, too, and see where that got us. And nothing in McCain’s closet? I guess you follow a different brand of Christianity than I’m familiar with. Why’d he go to the Bahamas with Keating? To be a missionary? How come he palled around with Gordon Liddy, that upstanding felon? And where’d he get that cute young wife with the millions, ya think? Met her at a church social, I’ll bet.

Our town hall in central Wisconsin had a long line waiting prior to 7 am. Very inspirational to see such a high turnout all over the country. No matter what your politics, just remember: One citizen, one vote. There seems to be an energy and excitement in the air today, which is GREAT. God Bless America!

Michael writes: “My wife had to vote absentee yesterday in Louisville, Ky. The County Clerk’s office was well organized and she was in and out in six minuets. Her brother used the absentee ballot in Cincinnati and his wait was 4 hours.”
After this, the US has *got* to implement some form of Federally subsidized uniform system of voting that allows all voters to get in quickly without having to wait for hours–effectively the equivalent of a modern poll tax. This just can’t go on this way.

I live in central Illinois and this is the first time I have had to wait in line.
McCain/Palin

I voted in a NYC suburb in NJ at 6:15 this morning. I waited for MAYBE 2 minutes. Very efficient set-up and they noted that in the last presidential election they had a 75% turnout in the city. If they expect even higher numbers this year, I have faith all voters will be able to vote without much of a problem. No matter who you vote for, just get out and vote!

I think that it’s a shame that living in the 21st century people are still racist and will not vote for Obama because of the color of his skin, but will feel comfortable with McCain in office and GOD forbid that if anything was to happen to him have Palin running the White House. Come on people get serious!!!
Posted by: Sistah Girl | November 4, 2008, 9:29 am 9:29 am
I love how people are always so quick to blame anybody who isn’t voting for Obama as basing the decision on race.. but will never mention that fact that without the most blatantly racist voting bloc in 100 years Obama doesn’t make it out of the Democrat primaries.
Regardless, I’d like to thank Obama for motivating millions of Americans to get out and vote… against him.

it’s refreshing to watch the right squirm. deep down, they know they brought this on themselves. gloating non-stop for 8 years with those obnoxious W stickers. hey conservatives, why so sad? don’t worry, you can still petition for anti-gay ballot initiatives, that’ll keep you going for a couple of years.

How can a christian country afford a MUSLIM PRESIDENT. Question is not white or black. Why we want a Hussien as our president ?
Experienced Mccain is the best candidate!! Palin is very smart Lady.
But the Angry Left Ultra Liberal lady treated her very badly. Why in the world, America wants to go back to Socialism. This Socialism failed in all communist countries.
God Bless America. We hope and pray
McCain will win

Ahhh, isn’t it great to be ignorant? I can’t believe there are idiots out there that thinks Obama is a Muslim and that Palin is smart. Makes me laugh! I am confident my 16yr old daughter knows more about the world then Palin does. Palin is out of her depth, knows nothing about the world. Wanna see the real Palin? Go watch the interview with Katie Couric. Even Bush has more between the ears then Palin.
Posted by: Cheryl | November 4, 2008, 4:36 pm 4:36 pm
Why don’t people see that it is not a race thing or a religion thing. This presidental election is about what you believe in. Personally I don’t want a muslim president or a first lady who has never been proud of the country she lives in.

I’m am old military brat living in south Texas and I can not beleive the racism that exists today here. In the public elementary school where my wife teaches, they held a mock election and announced the winner this morning. The vast majority of the kids cheered when McCains name was announced. One second grader even told my wife “Obama will take your home and you’ll lose your job.”
Racism begets racism. It’s a hard chain to break. Thank God ignorance, intolerance, and bigotry is a learned, and not an inherted trait, at least we know there’s a chance to overcome it.

There are machines malfunctioning, paper ballots, not enough pens, and whatever else can be concocted, in the minority neighborhoods to keep us from voting. It’s too soon to tell who will come out on top. I see another Florida fiasco. There are numerous reports of voting sites with suspect malfunctions. I bet there are no malfunctions happening in affluent neighborhoods.STAY IN LINE, DON’T BE TURNED AWAY!! BE PATIENT AND VOTE!! VOTE!! FOR OBAMA!!!

My white Grandmother who will be 92 years old next month and has voted in every election voted for Obama today. After living through the civil rights movement and the womens movement she said she was very proud to vote for him. If you would have asked her years ago if she thought she would have voted for a black man for president she said no, because she never thought she would have the opportunity. God bless America.
