Valerie Jarrett Named White House Sr. Advisor
ABC News’ Sunlen Miller Reports: President-elect Barack Obama has named Valerie Jarrett Senior Advisor and Assistant to the President for Intergovernmental Relations and Public Liaison, according to an Obama advisor.
One of Obama’s closest confidantes, Jarrett has been friends with Obama and his wife, Michelle, since the President-elect decided to run for the Senate. Dubbed often as "the other half of Obama’s brain," Jarrett was chairman and chief executive of real-estate firm Habitat Co. She also worked for Harold Washington, Chicago’s first black mayor, and served as an advisor to Obama during his run for the White House.

Hum. If she is “the other half of Obama’s brain” and his I.Q. is 124 (according to reports), does that make each of theirs 62? Just kidding! Well, interesting to see that my I.Q. is 11 points higher than his. That seals it: I am going to run for prez. in 2012. (No, I don’t have any experience to lead either, but what the heck?)

Lisa, what “reports” are you talking about? If you’re talking about those silly IQ test ads on the side of your web page, then I have a REAL hard time believing your IQ is 135 …

Toya,
“By the way Lisa not every thing you read on the side on the internet web page is true….”
That would also include Obama NOT having a relationship with “questionable left wing communists”
and not raising taxes
and not making plans to relieve tax payers of 75% of their pensions (pension tax isn’t coming)
If you believe the above isn’t true then your IQ is < than that of a jelly bean

This is the woman who said President-Elect Obeyme would be ready to “take power” and “rule” January 20th. Funny how this isn’t mentioned by this blog. I guess she is ready to advise Obeyme on how to “rule” us. Perhaps with an iron fist?

All an IQ is, is the mental age divided by the mean score for the average person of your age. So let’s say the average person scores 50 on an IQ test, and you scored a 60, well 60 divided by 50 is 120. So even those online IQ tests are somewhat accurate, because they are just comparing you to your peers. Also, statistically, the Standard deviation is 15, which means an IQ of 24 is 1.6 sd’s from the mean, which means that on a normal curve (which is what IQs are based off of), Obama has a statistically higher IQ than 94.5% of the population.
That’s how he got into harvard, a 126 is very high, the average is set at 100.

still so many bitter people here after the election, I see, who are ready to believe the worst about someone simply because they disagree with him and can’t be bothered with the facts, so they make stuff up or read other folks who make stuff up.

The small minds usually back the small-minded candidates, and if you think in this 250+ old democracy anyone can rule with an “iron fist” you should have been aborted (and that is coming from a pro-life independent).

An “IQ” (which is not really used in modern intelligence testing) of 124 equates to approximately 2 standard deviation above the average…meaning that a person who does score a 124 on an intelligence test is more intelligent than about 93% of the population. That’s not too shabby…and, I would estimate, based on having given many of these tests, that Obama has a far higher IQ than that.

I am laughing hysterically over claims that anyone knows what Barack Obama’s I.Q. is. Let’s see, on the Internet, touted by sites trying to convince people to have their I.Q.s tested (results to be provided after payment is made), I’ve seen figures of 142, 136, and 125.
Anyone who falls for this garbage probably has an I.Q. hovering at barely average or below.

I wouldn’t brag about her associations in Chicago….. So she worked for Mayor Harold Robinson…. who was sentenced to forty days in Cook County Jail, and paid $1,000 fine, and three years probation for failing to pay Federal taxes for four year……. what did she know about this….?? and I’m sure a lot of stuff can be dug up about the realestate company “The Habitat Company”

My IQ has been measured many times at 132. My circle of friends are all in the same range, none of us made it to Harvard Law School. All of us are tree hugging democrats.
I think that President Obama is more intellegent that most… but I don’t understand if he is so smart why he would want to be President.

just did some quick research on Valerie Jarrett and she is best known for her role as advisor to BO. So how does that make her qualified to be in such a position? What her experience, positions on the constitution, economics, IA, etc…? Can you say same old, same old?

I did not know “Valerie Jarrett was born in 1956 in Shiraz, Iran, about 570 miles south of Tehran.” Did anybody know? Is she a Christian or Muslim?

she might be a closet republican
Posted by: mr sleepy | November 14, 2008, 10:46 pm 10:46 pm
Ed,
She is African-American and I doubt very seriously if she is Musllim. Jarrett was born in Shiraz, Iran, where her father, Dr. James Bowman, ran a hospital for children as part of a program that sent American doctors and agricultural experts to developing countries to help jump-start their health and farming efforts. At age 5, the family moved to London for one year, then returned to Chicago in 1963. Her father, who is of African American descent, is a pathologist and geneticist. He is currently Professor Emeritus in Pathology and Medicine, University of Chicago. Her great-grandfather was the first African-American to graduate from M.I.T., her grandfather was Robert Taylor the first black man to head the Chicago Housing Authority, and her father, Dr. James Bowman, was the first black resident at St. Luke’s Hospital. Though Ms. Jarrett has never worked in Washington, her great-uncle is Democratic powerbroker Vernon Jordan. Her mother, Barbara T. Bowman, is an African-American early childhood education expert and co-founder of the Erikson Institute for child development. She graduated from Northfield Mount Hermon, a New England boarding school, in 1974. She also received a B.A. in Psychology from Stanford University in 1978, and a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from the University of Michigan Law School in 1981.

Ed, Jarret is NOT IRANIAN. She is an African-American citizen who happened to be born in another country. She is a US citizen, due to the fact that she was born of two U.S. citizens who are African-American. It’s no different if she were born in Germany as the daughter of someone serving in the military over there during WW II. Would you consider that child a German or a Nazi?
Posted by: Me | November 14, 2008, 10:58 pm 10:58 pm
Ed says “Valerie Jarrett was chosen as Iranian of day”. So what? Did you read the posts at the link that you provided? They are trying to figure out what she is, just like you are. Iranians, like many white Americans cannot recognize many African Americans when they see them because of preconceived notions of what Blacks should look like. She is an African-American woman, educated in a New England boarding school. I would say that given her family pedigree and education, you need not worry that she is a Muslim seeking to destroy this country.

Another good pick. Jarrett is an intelligent, loyal friend who will continue to advise Obama as she has for years.

Someone spoke with stars in her/his eyes, “(Jarrett’s) her family pedigree and education” that she couldn’t be a terrorist.
And Lydia claimed that Jarrett is a loyal friend who will advise Obama for years.
People, we don’t need an American Royalty here. I elected a president, not a royalty. A friend loyal to that elect, does not need to be flaunted as pedigree, either.
I will watch their performance and give my fair judgement. Any talk trying to obfuscate the views of the intlligent public is futile, and a waste of time, least appreciated. Hope Obama and Jarrett undersand, and stop “ruling” us. Thanks.

Sixty-two seems about right for Jarrett’s I.Q. Apparently she has had difficulty in understanding how American government works. On “Meet the Press” she announced that Obama would be ready to “rule” from day one. I didn’t realize that our government could be classified as a monarch, “ruled” by a King Obama. I thought Obama would “lead” or “govern,” but maybe those words aren’t in her I.Q. challenged vocabulary. If she is “half of his brain” I really worry about the other half.

President Elect Obama’s IQ is 166-171.
Posted by: Sarah | November 15, 2008, 8:53 am 8:53 am
Obama graduated form Harvard Law School Magna Cum Laude
The former Guidance Counselor of Obama’s private Hawaiian school has supplied The Washington Post with a certified copy of
Obama’s Stanford-Banai IQ Certification, one of which was taken in 1966 when he was a kindergardener in Hawaii before moving to Indonesia, and one which was taken as entrance protocol as a freshman in his private (extremely exclusive) Honolulu private highschool.
His IQ was clocked at 172 and 166 respectively (IQ’s normally have a fluctuation of 6 or 7 points from test to test so that discrepency is normal).
That puts Obama in the certifiable clinical genius category.
Obama’s campaign is apparently NOT HAPPY about The Washington Post preparing to disclose this, because they fear it adds to his reputation as not an “everyman” and being too “elitist”.

Pres Elect O has such an incredible group to pick from for his admin. How truly refreshing. I was tired of stupid and have been for 8 long years. I can’t believe the reign of stupidity has ended. So happy the voting majority wasn’t fooled (again) by grampa and the hillbilly which would have lead to more years of embarrassment world wide. The US has been a joke to world leaders all this time. Seeing the leaders from other countries, it’s obvious Bush makes their skin crawl.

In the debates, Hillary Clinton didn’t even know who was the President of the Russia. She talked about landing in combat zones in Bosnia and working on the Northern Ireland peace accords, all lies. She is seen internationally as a fraud, and as a back woods lawyer who does deals, takes bribes and lies. They know her from the countless sleaze deals that came out of the Clinton white house. She would be an insult to the US as secretary of state.
The Secretary of State should be someone of impeccable integrity and decency. Someone who could command respect for their knowledge of geo politics and international relationships. Above all else, a person who is held in high esteem for their wise council and worldly wisdom. Bill Richardson and Valerie Jarrett qualify on merit.
The United States is trying to recover from the debacle of having the imbecile George Bush as head of state, a person who is universally despised around the world as an ogre. Now we are getting the Queen of Sleaze as secretary of state. Certainly Obama can do better.
I voted for change. If Hillary Clinton is secretary of state, I will vote for change again. Maybe McCain wasn’t so bad after all.

what’s with the i.q. test fetish? it doesn’t mean anything. i mean if your i.q. is 40 points higher than everybody else then why are you on here bragging about it? and why make fun of Obama’s i.q.?—he is president-elect and graduated top of his class from Harvard.

Dorothy660, you made a bad choice for your presidential vote and we will all have to suffer from it for 4 years. BO is not young, if 40% of population is younger than him. And he is not the youngest president ever elected either. Is he gifted? So were thousands of other Harvard graduates, but they were not elected presidents. He is blessed with votes from the fools like you. But we have to suffer from the votes you cast! Hope you can sleep at night. Someone of your intelligence and blind beliefs should not have voted. Period.

If you are one of those how do you sleep at night knowing that your vote is responsible for thousands of needless deaths on our side as well as the other. Your hands are bloody. So.. for those who voted for Obama there is a sense of hope mainly due the poor results of an admin you voted for, twice. Give Dorothy and Obama a break and don’t sound off with foolish stats like the 40% comment.

Jarrett is not an Iranian-American even though she was born in Iran. If she was an Iranian-American, she would be in very good company with other prominent members of the American society:
Through surveys of Fortune 500 companies and other major corporations, the researchers identified more than 50 Iranian-Americans in senior leadership positions at companies with more than $200 million in asset value, including General Electric, AT&T, IBM, Verizon, Intel, Cisco, Motorola, Oracle, Nortel Networks, Lucent Technologies, and eBay. Fortune magazine ranks Pierre Omidyar, founder and chairman of the board of eBay, the wildly popular online auction company, as the second richest American entrepreneur under age 40.
Iranian-Americans are also prominent in academia. According to a preliminary list compiled by ISG, there are more than 500 Iranian-American professors teaching and doing research at top-ranked U.S. universities, including MIT, Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Carnegie Mellon, the University of California system (Berkeley, UCLA, etc.), Stanford, the University of Southern California, Georgia Tech, University of Wisconsin, University of Michigan, University of Illinois, University of Maryland, California Institute of Technology, Boston University, George Washington University, and hundreds of other universities and colleges throughout the United States.
