Will Obama Make Cabinet Announcements Before Thanksgiving?
As we reported earlier this week, PEBO (President-elect Barack Obama) could make Cabinet appointments — including, possibly, a Secretary of State Hillary Clinton — before Thanksgiving.
The Obama Transition Team had wanted to announce its national security team and economic chieftains before any other Cabinet picks came out, but welcome to Washington, PEBO, leaks happen.
And in the past few days we’ve learned that likely top Cabinet officials include Tom Daschle at HHS (as first reported by Roll Call), Eric Holder as attorney general (Newsweek), and Janet Napolitano as the likely next secretary of the Department of Homeland Security (CNN). ABC News was the first to report that Rep. Rahm Emanuel, D-Ill., was offered the White House chief of staff job.
With all these other appointments/likely appointments coming out and the market continuing to tank, there is pressure on PEBO to make some economic announcements, and soon. For that reason, I would be surprised if the tryptophan-induced nap hits you next Thursday night without your having an idea of whom the next Treasury secretary will be.
This would mean the second earliest ever Cabinet announcement in modern times. Then-President-elect George H.W. Bush announced his pal Jimmy Baker would be secretary of state on Nov. 9, 1988. All other presidents in the modern era waited until December to make their first picks known.

Sen. DeMint: GOP Race Could Go Until Convention
Obama Avoids Questions on Contraception Rule
Why it matters even at all?
Our Greatest Leader has gained, so far, zero, Zero, nada, confidence on Wall Street. If his goal was to equalize the wealth of the country, he has done a good job since his election, tanking the stock market by 30%, making the 95% Middle Class – according to his classification – and 5% rich 30% more equalized.
We need Hillary. Pleeeeeease, Hillary, please. Take the SOS job. It’s economic SOS time. Take the job, stabilize the confidence on the new administration.
Only you, Hillary, can do it. You have shown your experience and judgment more than a year ago, to correctly diagnosed the problem of the economy and proposed the correct solution for it. It is only this boneheaded phony ridiculed your proposal that led to the economic depression.

ha ha ha, fat cat. The election’s over. To the extent that one of Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama must be dubbed bonehead, the people have spoken. PRESIDENT-ELECT BARACK OBAMA!!!

Perhaps you can afford to give him a break since you have Zero interest in the economy and Zero values in the stock market.
For God sake, he has tanked the market by 30% since he was elected! You think the Wall Street was so excited, so confident in our Greatest Leader’s ability to steer us out of the depression such that they sold all their belongings in the stock market.

Fat cat, so Sen. Clinton correctly diagnosed the economic problem and proposed the correct solution for it! Yet you want her to accept the position of Secretary of State. Interesting!

James Danley,
Confidence, confidence, It’s Confidence, Stupid!
0bama has a character of 0 – Zero.
HRC will ensure our Greatest Leader not making too many boneheaded mistakes that he constantly admits, even she is in the State Department.
She knows and can and will engage world leaders to steer the global economy out of the depression, which is good for you at home.

I was wondering whom Pres 0bama will name as his Secretary for the Department of Urban Homeland (DUH), the new department that Pres 0bama’s transition team announced a few days ago.
Any insider information yet, Jake?

Posted by: DKNY | Nov 20, 2008 11:09:21 AM
Technically speaking, Mr. Obama is the “President-designate”. He becomes the President-elect on December 15 when the members of the Electoral College cast their votes. He officially is the President when he takes the oath of office on January 20, 2009.
However, we can do away with all this pretense, if so desired, and start calling him “Messiah” right now. That each citizen will have to decide for themselves (or at least until it becomes a law.)

You bitter folks are HILARIOUS.
Note to beebop: OBAMA HAS NOT EVEN BEEN SWORN IN. HE HAS UNTIL TO JAN 20 BEFORE HE MAKES ONE “NATION RUNNING” DECISION. HE JUST BECAME THE PRES ELECT TWO WEEKS AGO.
Let Obama raise his right hand before you begin to regurgitate the right wingnut talking points.
Thanks

Must be pretty hard for Obama-this being his first steady job.
I bet he longs for the day when he could just vote “present”.

if the country goes into a prolonged depression it will be a good thing as it will finally get rid of american arrogance and hubris and people will understand what it means to be on an equal footing…….

Bush has run this country into the ground
- national debt DOUBLED
- more enemies
- less allies
- less respected
- GOP party is OUT OF TOUCH as demonstrated in Obama’s landslide victory and senate teetering on becoming filibuster proof for the dems and the landslide of new dem us reps.
- foreign dignitaries will not even shake Bush’s hand
and NOW…… all of a sudden…. at this moment….. the right wing is SCARED, CONCERNED, AND FEARFUL of and OBAMA Presidency.
If you weren’t scared of the present Administration and now you are….
My question is where have you been the past 8 years. On MARS or JUPITER?????

How hard can this be for The One that can lower the rising oceans, save the planet, fix the economy and find jobs for everyone, restore world peace?
For those that believe Obama is their savior nothing is too difficult.
I’ll continue to put my faith in the real Messiah.

Well when you pray to the real messiah, ask him to give you a true heart and a brain that registers common sense. Ask him to free you of all the bitterness and perssimism you have inside.
I too am a Christian. I worhip God …. I don’t vote for a savior… I vote for a president, someone who I think can best lead this country.
I DONT THINK OBAMA IS A MESSIAH… NEITHER DO ANYONE ELSE.
STOP MOCKING HIM WITH THAT CRAP. PLEASE
If you thought that McCain and PALIN could have run this country better … you need more pray than I thought.
keep praying.

Fat cat, as Secretary of State, Sen. Clinton might have valuable input–in private. But out in the public she would only be the “mouthpiece” of the President. Criticizing the President publicly would send mixed signals to the world’s leaders. So the appointment of Sen. Clinton to the office of Secretary of State would effectively muzzle her. Like I said, “Interesting!”

too bad the right wing nut jobs here weren’t as worried when Bush & the crime family and the Repugs were destroying and bankrupting America over the last 8 years…
but hey, complain about Obama before he’s in office…… typical republicans….. big mouths, small brains.

re: “How hard can this be for The One that can lower the rising oceans, save the planet, fix the economy and find jobs for everyone, restore world peace?”
well, lets see, since your implying that all that damage has been done by Bush…
it took Bush & the Republicans 8 years to accomplish what you said, (I’ll give him a very minor pass and break on Global Warming, it’s not all his fault)…… let’s see where we are after 8 years of Obama and the Dems…

Just saw a poll that says that 65% of Americans have a negative view of the Republican Party.
Why don’t you right wingers move beyond the satisfactions offered by meaningless snarkfests and start working to make your party relevant to people other than the Know Nothings?

if Napolitano’s years of experience neglecting to secure the Mexico-AZ border are any indication, then she’s on track to do a horrendous job securing the whole country
