Blagojevich is Obama’s Best Character Witness

The Obama team seems more annoyed than anxious about this investigation.

They are dumbfounded by how brazen and delusional Gov. Blagojevich appears on these tapes, talking about running for president in 2016 at the same time trying to sell a Senate seat.

But the Obama team aren’t worried that anything will come up here that will put the president-elect in a bad light. And the irony here, of course, is that Blagojevich is Obama’s best character witness.

The Illinois governor is just so angry on all of these tapes about the fact that he’s not going to get anything from the Obama team, even resorting to calling him a "mother******" and saying of the president-elect"F*** him."

Obama’s former chief strategist and incoming senior White House adviser David Axelrod put out a statement yesterday saying he misspoke during a Fox News interview where he had said that Obama spoke to Blagojevich about his senate seat.

That Obama did not speak to Blagojevich directly is backed up by my sources inside the Obama transition.

However Obama’s move from "we" to "I" in his press conference denying he had any conversations with Blagojevich is telling.

That’s because he can’t be sure that no one connected to him in any way spoke with Blagojevich or his emissaries. The reason they can’t talk about it publicly right now, they say, is because this is an ongoing criminal investigation.

They also want to make sure they have their stories straight before they come out and say anything more.

The one thing they will say unequivocally is that President-elect Obama did not speak to Blagojevich directly.

And that clearly, Blagojevich did not get anything from the Obama team as he was trying to bait the hook.

Boy, the butt kissers are out in force trying to defend Obama preemptively. LOL. Fact is, none of these blood sucking politicians deserve our support, or defense. If you really think Obama came out of the same politically corrupt city as these other criminals and is lily white, I’ve got a bridge to sell you.

Blago clearly was rebuffed by the Obama people, but the questions about contact remain. Were they really unaware of what Blago was trying to do with the Senate seat? Did they report him or try to protect a fellow Dem?

“the slimy governor calling Obama every word in the book because he couldn’t get him to play dirty”

LOL….well, it has been pretty much common knowledge that “Blago” was under investigation for a while now.
So not surprising Obama & his team were limiting contact with him!

Ahhh, I didn’t even know Blagojevich. I think he was friends with Jeremiah Wright, whom I never listened to in Church during the 20 years I attended. I think he lives next door to Mr. Ayers, but since I don’t really know him, I’m not sure. Michelle who?

Well, well, well, the scandals are starting already before the Messiah is in office! I have no doubt over the next four years he will get caught. Pity they did not tape the conversations between Blog and him.

I feel sorry for Mr. Obama. He has to be a good man. I don’t know another man who would go through this to become president of a country that have so many ungrateful people and take on a debt of this country. Mr. McCain backed out as you can see. Picking Mrs. Palin for a running mate, please. This is a very intelligent man and who as he is and everyone else say, including me, is a brave decorated veteran. I take my hat off to Mr. Obama and wish him God’s Speed and all the prayer of my friend and family and I think, hope and pray of the nation.

Like, Mr Chicago, Obama did not know this guy was a crook when he endorsed him for Gov?? This episode will be covered up by the media just as everything else about Obama was–now that he has thrown the Gov under the bus with all the others–Wright, Ayers, his Grandma, Rezko, and who knows how many others. What has America done? And poor old Stevens from Alaska gets fried for a few bucks worth of work on his house!! Amazing country we live in.

You libs remember him, he “helped” Obama buy a house that Obama could not afford, remember “it was a bonehead mistake”. Rezeko is also tied in with the Govenor and his wife. Rezeko is talking to the feds and this is just the tip of the iceburg. More to come.

Let’s see if ABC News has the guts to truly cover this story. Obama may have his hands clean on the Senate seat deal but I’m sure his hands are dirty dirty dirty from all his years in Chicago. Isn’t this what doubters were warning us about all along? That we don’t really know Obama or his background. And now he’s our President and there’s no taking that back. Hey, don’t blame me…I wrote in Hillary.

Georgie Porgie back at it again! Enough with the propaganda, just give us the facts you weasel.
I hope BO is telling the truth because the last thing this country needs right now is a Presidential scandal and cover up attempt but the facts to not look good. It’s BO’s senate seat. Blogojevich is documented as a BO ally and vice versa. Axelrod flip flops on the nature of the relationship.
At minimum BO and his cohorts knew what Blogojevich was up to and didn’t blow the whistle and at maximum they got involved the pay to play scandal. Either way not good.
Even a mainstream media that’s 100% in the tank (as evidenced by George’s attempted whitewash here) this may be too big for BO not to come out stinking.
Another poster mentioned “and most likely the Obama team being the one that blew the whistle.” If this is true, this is the only way BO gets out unscathed. Can you please post a link to your source for this because I’ve seen nothing to suggest this.

I believe he sees this as doing business as usual. All politicians give and take right? This was just on a broader scale. I think all politicians are guilty if this conduct to some degree.

This is just another bad seed that is being removed from the government, who just happens to be Democrat. It is funny how the Republicans are so quick to want to throw stones when a Democrat gets in trouble but want everyone to be hush-hush when their pedophile fellow Republican candidates get put under fire.
I am pretty sure there is plenty of selling seats and a whole lot of other things (like America) under the Republicans for the last 8 years but none of them wants to question the crooked Republican (Cheney, Rove, Bush, Rumsfield, and so on).
It’s just another ploy on the Repukes side to try and distract or a dying attempt to over throw Obama because he is black! Truth hurts don’t republicans cry babies. If Obama was white they would have accepted and moved on but they don’t like someone smarter than them, especially a minority.

If Oprah had not backed Barack Obama Hillary Clinton would have been the Dem candidate. Oprah should be aware of the power she has and she should not use it to further her personal feelings. I believe Hillary was not backed by the Kennedy family because she would not be their puppet. Hillary, rightfully, should have been the Dem. candidate, that is, if the game had been played fairly; but the word fair and politics do not mix.

Good job in going into spin overdrive on this story.

Now to what I have to say, we are still blaming each other (republicans and democrats). We want the truth and we need the truth. Will we get it from the media? Who knows, they go for whatever get rating. So do we believe the “secret people” who taped Blago? Well we are in a war because of the “secret people”. We as proud American have to get to the truth ourselves. Dig deep enough and you will find heat and it is getting hot in this story or truth or whatever it is.

Well said Billy Bob
I bet Rezko has more dirt on BO then Rev Wright, Ayers, Khalidi combined… Once they start dangling shorter sentences in front of Rezko, we just might come to find out a little more about this “boneheaded” mistake BO made, that the media is so desperately trying to throw under the rug. BO has come from the most politically corrupt city in America, where those around him keep falling from grace, and yet his lemming followers are still praising him louder than ever.
I bet we could discover michelle was paying someone to get BO elected to the senate and the media would still argue that barry had no idea. they are bound and determined to keep him protected at all cost.

Posted by: liberalsaresocialists | December 10, 2008, 9:21 am 9:21 am

Bill I agree with you. I truly believe Obama ran an honest campaign with a team that seems to be respected by everyone. I do think he was under pressure by some old heads in the party but I believe he cordially acknowledge them but never had any intentions to follow their leads, like they may have thought he would. He has shown that by the selection of his cabinet members. You here the leftist are already crying they were duped.
If he stay and track and continue to stay out of the cespool of scandal on both sides Rep/Dem, he will be one of the first presidents to really make a change. There are too many that want to see him fall but I think there more that are going support him when he makes decisions because there are some in our government who are not tainted just tied hands because they never had someone in above them that thinks like them, only the what’s-in-it-for-me politicians.
I say let’s give Obama the chance to get started because so far he seems to be getting full ahead running jump start so far and it is looking good.

This incident has caused the extreme rightest to become babbling idiots! I have just walked into my office and was attacked by one of my people who was nearly having a coronary in his zeal to “bring me up to speed!”
Once I calmed him down, I began speaking very rationally with him. Once again, as I have asked those of this message board, I asked him to please provide his proof and sources so that we might discuss the issue intelligently.
What resulted were the following (since he had not a leg to stand on); “Oh c’mon! You know he had to know something!” “The “liberal media” never will investigate,” and so on. Then! He digressed to the Bill Ayers and Rev Wright safety net. I just asked him to explain to me the Ayers connection and why this causes angst. Also, has he heard the entire Rev Wright sermon. As always, I request sources and proof. We all know the answer–there were none. I suppose this is why I am the boss and he is not.
Listen, personally I think its fair that Mr. Obama is questioned regarding his relatioship with the Governor. You have to investigate if there were any impropriety (keep in mind the Governor has been under investigation for months.) With that understood, I am confident that, like the other incidents, there will be nothing there. I look forward to welcoming Mr. Barack Hussein Obama as the 44th President of the United States of America on January 20th!
Alright, extreme rightest people…
NEXT!

Two scenarios. Obama is a rogue – Obama is a great. If Obama is bad and is like all these other IL rogues, then he is not smart enough to protect his fellow rogues. But we saw that he is smart enough to run a campaign and defeat Clinton dynasty and GOP. So we are left with the other choice that he is great. He is cleaning the system. He is pulling the weeds out.

Its sad how many republicans and conservatives are jumping to conclusions without all the facts. Using guilty by associations is lame – no matter who, what and where. Wait until all the facts are out before making assumptions about guilt. What we do know, is that Blagojevich tried to cut a deal with someone on the Obama team and was rebuffed. Period.
So far the blackmailing of the Illinois Senate seat has been handled correctly and turned over to the proper authorities (FBI) to monitor and criminal engagement.
Again, Its sad how many on this blog are inspired by their imagination about the story then grounded by the facts and integrity of the unfolding circumstances.

Posted by: dave | December 10, 2008, 9:32 am 9:32 am

OK, Lumberman_63 Why does it have to be that Blag did something for Obama that he is mad at him? Have you ever thought that maybe he thought because Obama had party affiliation that he would play the “good ol’ boy” game and do what he says? I mean come on. You Obama detractors have been trying so hard to discredit this man and have come up with zero!
Even though it is hard for the Obama haters to believe but sometime you do have a good one in the haystack of bad. So far from what I am seeing from Obama is that he is not catering to either Democrats, Republicans, Liberals or Conservatives. He seems focused on trying to cater to who he should be catering to and that is the American people. Feels funny don’t it, scary for you that have never felt it. That is why you are fighting him so hard because you are use to the abuse of politics. Give Obama a chance and in 4 years if he screws up, you know what yo can do.

I don’t agree with the policies Obama ran on. I could not care less what color his skin is. No more than I care what color “Blago” is. ‘Blago’ is the now the new poster boy for the stereotypical corrupt & arrogant politician.
Only a complete fool would think that Obama could rise through the “Chicago Machine” and not have done his time “greasing the gears” as it were. The only thing that is certain , for right now, is that he was much more careful & discrete since there are no tapes or other evidence at this time of any improprieties.
I agree with your fellow liberals in that I HOPE he IS clean. The country does not need to have him entering office with scandals tied to his feet on day 1.

Why did he expect something from Mr. Obama? Listen to the arrogance in his voice and in his statement. If I hear one more person compare barry O to Lincoln I’m going to go crazy..
Did Lincoln attend a white-supremist, radical for his time, church? Did he sit for 20 years in the pews and do nothing as he heard lie after lie coming from the pastor/founder?
Did any of Lincoln’s real-estate ventures involve federal investigations?
Did ANY of the people that had a political coming out party for Lincoln ever do any attacks against America?
Did Lincoln live next door to anyone who ever attacked America?
Did Mrs.Lincoln ever say she had never been proud of her country?
I also doubt that Lincoln would not contested wearing/participating in patriotic demonstrations (flag pin and pledge of allegiance).
The only 2 things Abraham Lincoln and BO have in common is that they were both born in the United States… no wait… that might not be true

Posted by: BOisafraud | December 10, 2008, 9:48 am 9:48 am

I harbor no illusions that President-Elect Obama and Gov. Blagojevich had some interactions–its pretty difficult not to when you’re both elected officials for the same state. But that’s our (the voters)fault. We put corrupt politicians in along with good ones. Inevitably, they’re going to have to work together at some point just like we all at some time have to work with incompetent or corrupt coworkers. Based on Blagojevich’s own words, Obama didn’t play along with his pay-to-play operation re: the vacant Senate seat. That’s good enough for me.

Posted by: myopine | December 10, 2008, 9:57 am 9:57 am

Did anyone at his coming out party and lived next door to him attack America?
Yes, it was called the Civil War. Your neighbor, best friend, or brother attacked America. “A house divide against itself cannot stand”:
Did Mrs Lincoln ever say she had never been proud or her country? I would be willing to take that bet. If she was she would have convinced her husband to go along with slavery. Don’t you think?????????????
I think if did a little you might find a few other things they had in common. Oh by the was Hawaii not a state when Mr. Obama born????????

Posted by: MsCred | December 10, 2008, 10:05 am 10:05 am

Ms Cred
Lincoln was the one who spoke out against the evils of slavery and began the republican party to end slavery. The democratic party was founded to ensure the survival of slavery…. check your history books.
My point was that Lincoln was a radical for his time in his thinking and spoke out against his colleagues who he thought were acting unjustly.
On the other hand, barry just sat there for 20 listening to a hateful man incite rage in impressionable youths and was also in bed with crooked politicians.
Either barry is dumb and did not know that these people were corrupt, or he was corrupt also. When speaking of one’s ability to lead the free world, it really does not matter which is true.

Posted by: BOisafraud | December 10, 2008, 10:11 am 10:11 am

Of course, I’m sure Blago felt out someone in the Obama camp to find out who Obama might like to see in the new Senate seat. And Blago I’m sure asked what he might expect in return. From Blago’s own wiretaps we know he wasn’t going to get anything but gratitude. It speaks very well of Obama that he p’ed off Blago by not playing his disgusting, corrupt old-school “what’s in it for me” game. Old-School political corruption like this is on the decline, but this is rightly the era of zero tolerance.

Posted by: hopesprings52 | December 10, 2008, 10:15 am 10:15 am

You now see why it’s so hard to get more honest, intelligent, and patriotic Americans to run for elected office. They know that they’ll have to work alongside crooks like this Dem. Governor and the jailed Rep. Governor before him, no matter how much it turns their stomach. They’ll also have to bear the stigma of guilt by association heaped on them by the public, extremists and average Joes alike. And have resolve within themselves the bitter reality that few will ever believe they served out of a deep abiding love of country.
The partisans on both sides are quick to jump on these events to point their crooked figures at the other side. You people aren’t interested in electing honest people. You just want to make sure the crook in power is the one you elected! If you want to create the kind of politics that you only pay to lip service in convention speeches, you need to put truth, verifiable facts, and being presumed innocent until proven otherwise, before your primal need to attack “the other side”.
There should be vigorous debate, on the issues, but with an eye towards making this country even greater than it is. How about putting the “civil” back into civilian again? Maybe that’s why more of us are independents now – real ones, not phony Joe-the-plumber types. We can judge people on merit, ideas, and conduct. We’ve matured enough to know that no one is perfect, but we’re not foolish enough to equate partisan attacks with truth. I remember reading something, umm, “…indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all.” Know it?
If you want your kids to have a country that serves them and one they can proudly serve, stop injecting venomous partisanship and self-defeating scorched-earth tactics into every issue in sight! If you can’t do that for your kids, then make sure you bad-mouth the virtue out of them and teach them every dirty trick in the book, so that they can grow up to be the kind of politician you can be proud of – the one wearing your logo.

BOisafraud, although what you post “may” have some credence (regarding Lincoln/Republicans), please keep in mind that people, and entities evolve. We all hope for the better but that is not always necessarily true. In my opinion, this is true of the Republian party. The party is not based upon its founding principles. My opinion…
You post;” On the other hand, barry just sat there for 20 listening to a hateful man incite rage in impressionable youths and was also in bed with crooked politicians.”
You know this with 100% factual evidence, “how?” Please cite your sources and supporting evidence in making such a condemning statement. In doing this we can all discuss this matter intelligently. It is possible, although highly doubtful, that your argument may move some who are opposed to agree with you.
If you are unable to do this, please refrain from spewing your unsupported, baseless rhetoric. On behalf of us all, if not all, many, I thank you very much.

Paul_Revere, (CLAP) (CLAP) (STANDING OVATION) Bravo! BRAVO! High Five!!! Two SNAPS & A BAG OF CHIPS (or whatever the kids say) WELL DONE!!!!! MOST ELOQUENT!!!!!
Most WORTHY of re-posting!!!!

Oh puhleeze, Obama’s the only Chicago politician who hasn’t dipped his hands into the corruption?
Yeah, right.
Time will tell if a politician who was blessed by Mayor Daley and Gov. Bloggie has clean hands. I wouldn’t bet on it.
Illinois has been governed by corrupt politicians for several years. Ex-Gov. George Ryan is serving a stint in the fed pen due to his activities while governor. Chicago politicians have been recognized to be a corrupt bunch almost since just after the city was formed, but I never thought the public would want a Chicago politician in the white house.
People are so easily fooled by a smooth talker… it’s really sad.

Posted by: Sweet Home Chicago | December 10, 2008, 10:43 am 10:43 am

This is what I hear coming from the right wingers about this story: How dare the media make nothing out of something when it is so obvious that because Obama comes from Illinois he must be involved with this governor just by mere geographical coincidence. Surely Obama must be guilty even if the evidence does not support it. That’s it…guilt by geography! That proves it all.

Posted by: two-cats | December 10, 2008, 10:52 am 10:52 am

Absolutely amazed that ANYONE with common sense would be surprised about this “buffoon”, who happens to be a governor, is corrupt. And to an extent, so is EVERY politician, including the newly elected president. Why would anyone be surprised? As for Obama and Chicago Politics (I’m originally from Evanston, IL and Cook County-Daley country), it’s always been “quid pro quo” (as is ALL POLITICS), so what’s the fuss about? Is everyone delusional to think politics and integrity have anything in common? “Whew!” Get a grip! Politics and Filth, what’s the difference?

Posted by: Change Is Coming | December 10, 2008, 10:53 am 10:53 am

Sweet Home Chicago, tell me what “smooth talking” politician you’re talking about? I get a kick out of all those “smooth talking” preachers or “reverends” who tell people what they want to hear and then FLEECE every penny in their pockets and THEN those same people are “surprised” when a “scandal” involving their beloved “reverend” is revealed. There is absolutely no difference between the two. Politicians love the “muck and mire” and telling people what they want to hear so, like these “reverends, they can fill their pockets with all the “loot” the “dupes” who believed and trusted in(both of)them willingly and freely give. McCain is NO DIFFERENT from OBAMA, politicians are corrupt, the whole lot of them!!!

Posted by: Change Is Coming | December 10, 2008, 11:01 am 11:01 am

Does anyone remember the Daley Machine – Chicago/Illinois Politics is as corrupt as any place in the US. The more fingers you have pointing at the Gov. one will always be pointing at you. Yes he should be removed and all these other politians…from where ever should really watch who they burn in the media.

Great post, May I add, “Just someone in my neighborhood” –Anyone else getting tired of hearing Obama say, “I haven’t talked to [suddenly controversial person] in a long, long time”?1. Your aunt’s been in the country illegally for four years. “Oh, I wouldn’t know; I haven’t talked to her in four years.”2. Bill Ayers said he still doesn’t regret setting bombs. “Oh, I barely knew him. I haven’t seen him in years.”3. ACORN is being investigated in ten different states for voter registration fraud. “Oh, I represented them in a case years ago; I’ve had no contact with ACORN since then.”4. The governor of your own state, Rod Blagojevch, tried to sell your senate seat. “Oh, I don’t know… I’ve had no discussions with him about it.” But your top spokesperson said three weeks ago that you did. “Oh, well, he spoke inartfully.”Puh-LEEZE. Now, I don’t really Obama knew anything about selling his senate seat. It’s the continued lying about his past and recent
contacts that is fast wearing thin. I did not vote for Obama — the first time in my life I didn’t vote for the Democrat for president. When friends asked why, I would tell them, “I have nothing against Obama himself. But, standing next to him, in every direction you look, there’s some sleazebag. “This latest revelation reinforces my reasoning”. Posted by:superbu1

Your posting is similar to me stating that “I hope you get hit by a car” as you are crossing the street. I implore you, so that we all may share and possibly help you, what is it that Mr. Obama has done (and in particularly) to you which generates so much hatred and wishful hoping for misfortune?

I often point out to conspiracy buffs that no secret is safe if even one other person knows it. So how can a conspiracy theory be true when dozens or hundreds of people would have had to participate in it?
The egg is on my face, today. Why did it take the feds to bring this guy down? Did NO ONE in the Illinois state government know this was going on?
For openers, each and every one of these shady transactions involved several people. Is this outrage news to Lisa Madigan (Illinois Attorney General)?
I suppose we should all be grateful that we have a federal government to police the state governments. But who’s policing the feds?
How deep does this rabbit hole go? And perhaps the $64 trillion dollar question is, “Is Blagojevich being ejected from that hole because he allowed its existence to become public knowledge?”

David Axlerod made those comments – about Obama speaking to the Governor – on Nov. 23. Nobody bothered to clear up the “mis statement” until Dec. 9 – the day the news broke that the governor was trying to sell the senate seat. Doesn’t the timing seem a bit convenient? It is a bit puzzling that they didn’t correct Axlerod’s misstatement a bit sooner – perhaps a day or two, or even a week after he made those comments.

Sad, but true, no one has any idea what he had to go through to get where he is. Yes that is the truest statement. His father was from Africa. To say a background investigation is the understatement of this millennium. We as the public may not know, but I would be will to bet the deficit that our faithful leader got us into, that the government knows. And if it was the slightest hint of impropriety we would know about it. If we did not then we have to go back to the FBI again. How would they not know and if they did not know until now that a man running for president of the USA is corrupt. We found out about Ayers and Mr. Obama was a child. If we go back that far, what, is a few months. So why now??????????????????????????

Not creepy at all. As attributed to the bible; “The tongue is mightier than the sword.” With that stated, I realize the damaging effects the written word can have–especially those posted on the internet without the qualifier Of “LOL.”
It is just plain WRONG for your side to consistantly post innuendo, and half-truths based upon no factual evidence whatsoever. It is an absolute disservice to the American people who care for this country. For me, I am doing my civic duty! So, to take 5 or 10 minutes from my work to “right an absolute wrong” is very little to give of myself. Thankfully, (because of the freedoms and opportunities of this country), I can amply afford to do so.

Well, one thing Obama has to learn from this: He has to cut all ties to Chicago politics. And, I mean forever. That has to be the most corrupt state ever. After his presidency is over, if I were him, I wouldn’t even return there. He had to deal with that cesspool to get to where he is, but now the price is too great to have any alliances there at all. He must disassociate himself with any and all alliances, acquaintenances, and so-called friends in the Chicago area. Otherwise, the Washington establishment and media will tear him apart.

No one is interested in your adulation for Hussein…..enough already. Remember the Gennifer Flowers and Paula accusations about your other hero? They all proved to be true, didn’t they? Hussein is in deep trouble IF the media will do their job on just this one story (unlike the many stories that were swept under the rug during the election). Hussein is the mastermind behind Chicago corruption. He gave millions of $$ in pork barrel funds to the hospital where Michelle worked and miraculously her salary increases 300% the next month. Go figure! I can’t wait for Hussein to be impeached. Maybe it will come before he is even sworn in!! Won’t that be karma at its best.

Laura Brown — Cut all ties to Chicago politics? Obama thrived in that corrupt atmosphere and used it to his advantage. His ability to work that system literally got him where he is today. I know we like to believe that Obama is somehow different from the rest, but the fact is, he’s one of a number of crafty Chicago politicians. And he’s not about to cut all ties – he owes some of his former Chicago peers big time, and if the governor’s taped conversations are any indication – they’re not about to let him forget it.

BOisafraud–
“Lincoln was the one who spoke out against the evils of slavery and began the republican party to end slavery. The democratic party was founded to ensure the survival of slavery…. check your history books.”
Why don’t you check YOUR facts. Where do you get them…Wikipedia?
Go to the GOP website…the party was founded in 1854 “by a group of abolitionist Free Soilers, Democrats, and Whigs. They decided to call themselves Republicans—because they professed to be political descendants of Thomas Jefferson’s Democratic Republican party” Lincoln was not one of the founders, he was the first Republican president.
Now go to the Democrat website to find: “Thomas Jefferson founded the Democratic Party in 1792 as a congressional caucus to fight for the Bill of Rights and against the elitist Federalist Party” so next time CHECK YOUR HISTORY BOOKS! Nothing worse than someone arguing about correct facts while using false statements to “prove” his point.
Obama is the president-elect…get over it. We are sick of hearing your trash talk.

Gov. and Pres. elects relationship. Any informed citizen of this country should demand no less about ANY elected official whether they be Dem or Repub, black, white or purple. The people we entrust to handle our country and our sovereignty are held to a lower standard then our fast food restaurants who cook our burgers. Honor and truth DO mean something to the average citizen even if it’s not in vogue these days (I site GWB as an example of an irrate electorate). Speaking of vitriolic comments… frankly you should be pleased that people want to get involved in our great process of debate. Whether you agree or disagree with the political flavor of the day, rude and nasty retort does not make for constructive exchange of ideas from BOTH sides of the political spectrum. I may not find a particular statement to be true to my core ideals but am glad that the person is making the effort to debate. What would have happened if the Dec. of Indep., articles of our constitution had been blindly drafted without the checks of debate. Is there anyone out there who isn’t a total partisan “wonk” and can take debate non-partisanly?

CLW, I have never said that I am correct in this matter. In fact, I have said that I think it is very fair to question the relationship between President-Elect Obama and Governor (however you say and spell his name)–(Please refer to my posting of about 9:05 when attacked by one my employee. It might be later–I think I was running late today.)
MY ISSUE with many of the extremist (right & left), are the absolute pronouncements made with no facts whatsoever. How, at this juncture do we know this is an, “I told you so moment,” regarding Mr. Obama’s candidacy? What evidence has been presented thus far to support the following posted statement:
“The evidence does not support it YET. Wait and see, before he’s out of office your hero will be shown to, at the very least, have wiggled his fingers somewhat in Chicago crud. He got to where he’s at by snuggling up with the Chicago politicians.”
That comes off a bit “mean spirited” to me. Also, the one I can’t stand: Supporters of the President-Elect are drinking Kool-Aid… Ughhh!!! Nestle should sue!!!!
In any event, are you aware of any evidence out there which will support the above proclamation? Also, evidence which supports the other stuff out there? For example; that he is not a citizen? The Bill Ayers collusion? on and on… I mean, it is possible and I may have missed it. That’s why I ask for these posters to submit sources and supporting evidence of which we all can view and interpret.
This, stuff has been asked and answered, asked and answered, again and again in complete satisfaction.
Except, this issue with Governor whateverhisnameis. So, until we have more facts, the fair thing to do is just sit back and wait.

Kat C,
You, like most liberals, are totally uninformed about history. Democrats did not get on the whole “equality” thing until the 60′s, when they realized entitements get votes. Ever since then, the whole liberal free-love, let your pants hang down, wel-fare mentallity has been like a curse on the black community. That is why Martin Luther King was a republican!
Blacks “are inferior to the whites in the endowments of both of body and mind.”
–Thomas Jefferson, 1787
Co-founder of the Democratic Party (along with Andrew Jackson)
President, 1801-09
“I hold that the present state of civilization, where two races of different origin, and distinguished by color, and other physical differences, as well as intellectual, are brought together, the relation now existing in the slaveholding states between the two, is, instead of an evil, a good–a positive good.”
–Sen. John C. Calhoun (D., S.C.), 1837
Vice President, 1825-32
His statue stands in the U.S. Capitol.
If blacks were given the right to vote, that would “place every splay-footed, bandy-shanked, hump-backed, thick-lipped, flat-nosed, woolly-headed, ebon-colored Negro in the country upon an equality with the poor white man.”
–Rep. Andrew Johnson, (D., Tenn.), 1844
President, 1865-69
“Resolved, That the Democratic Party will resist all attempts at renewing, in Congress or out of it, the agitation of the slavery question, under whatever shape or color the attempt may be made.”
–Platform of the Democratic Party, 1852
Blacks are “a subordinate and inferior class of beings who had been subjugated by the dominant race.”
–Chief Justice Roger Taney, Dred Scott v. Sandford, 1856
Appointed Attorney General by Andrew Jackson in 1831
Appointed Secretary of the Treasury by Andrew Jackson in 1833
Appointed to the Supreme Court by Andrew Jackson in 1836
“Resolved, That claiming fellowship with, and desiring the co-operation of all who regard the preservation of the Union under the Constitution as the paramount issue–and repudiating all sectional parties and platforms concerning domestic slavery, which seek to embroil the States and incite to treason and armed resistance to law in the Territories; and whose avowed purposes, if consummated, must end in civil war and disunion, the American Democracy recognize and adopt the principles contained in the organic laws establishing the Territories of Kansas and Nebraska as embodying the only sound and safe solution of the ‘slavery question’ upon which the great national idea of the people of this whole country can repose in its determined conservatism of the Union–NON-INTERFERENCE BY CONGRESS WITH SLAVERY IN STATE AND TERRITORY, OR IN THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA” (emphasis in original).
–Platform of the Democratic Party, 1856
“I hold that a Negro is not and never ought to be a citizen of the United States. I hold that this government was made on the white basis; made by the white men, for the benefit of white men and their posterity forever, and should be administered by white men and none others.”
–Sen. Stephen A. Douglas (D., Ill.), 1858
Presidential nominee of the Democratic Party, 1860
“Resolved, That the enactments of the State Legislatures to defeat the faithful execution of the Fugitive Slave Law, are hostile in character, subversive of the Constitution, and revolutionary in their effect.”
–Platform of the Democratic Party, 1860
“The Almighty has fixed the distinction of the races; the Almighty has made the black man inferior, and, sir, by no legislation, by no military power, can you wipe out this distinction.”
–Rep. Fernando Wood (D., N.Y.), 1865
Mayor of New York City, 1855-58, 1860-62
“My fellow citizens, I have said that the contest before us was one for the restoration of our government; it is also one for the restoration of our race. It is to prevent the people of our race from being exiled from their homes–exiled from the government which they formed and created for themselves and for their children, and to prevent them from being driven out of the country or trodden under foot by an inferior and barbarous race.”
–Francis P. Blair Jr., accepting the Democratic nomination for Vice President, 1868
Democratic Senator from Missouri, 1869-72
His statue stands in the U.S. Capitol.
“Instead of restoring the Union, it [the Republican Party] has, so far as in its power, dissolved it, and subjected ten states, in time of profound peace, to military despotism and Negro supremacy.”
–Platform of the Democratic Party, 1868
“While the tendency of the white race is upward, the tendency of the colored race is downward.”
–Sen. Thomas Hendricks (D., Ind.), 1869
Democratic nominee for Vice President, 1876
Vice President, 1885
“We, the delegates of the Democratic party of the United States . . . demand such modification of the treaty with the Chinese Empire, or such legislation within constitutional limitations, as shall prevent further importation or immigration of the Mongolian race.”
–Platform of the Democratic Party, 1876
“No more Chinese immigration, except for travel, education, and foreign commerce, and that even carefully guarded.”
–Platform of the Democratic Party, 1880
“American civilization demands that against the immigration or importation of Mongolians to these shores our gates be closed.”
–Platform of the Democratic Party, 1884
“We favor the continuance and strict enforcement of the Chinese exclusion law, and its application to the same classes of all Asiatic races.”
–Platform of the Democratic Party, 1900
“The repeal of the fifteenth amendment, one of the greatest blunders and therefore one of the greatest crimes in political history, is a consummation to be devoutly wished for.”
–Rep. John Sharpe Williams (D., Miss.), 1903
House Minority Leader, 1903-08
“Republicanism means Negro equality, while the Democratic Party means that the white man is supreme. That is why we Southerners are all Democrats.”
–Sen. Ben Tillman (D., S.C.), 1906
Chairman, Committee on Naval Affairs, 1913-19
“We are opposed to the admission of Asiatic immigrants who can not be amalgamated with our population, or whose presence among us would raise a race issue and involve us in diplomatic controversies with Oriental powers.”
–Platform of the Democratic Party, 1908
“I am opposed to the practice of having colored policemen in the District [of Columbia]. It is a source of danger by constantly engendering racial friction, and is offensive to thousands of Southern white people who make their homes here.”
–Sen. Hoke Smith (D., Ga.), 1912
Appointed Secretary of the Interior by Grover Cleveland in 1893
“The South is serious with regard to its attitude to the Negro in politics. The South understands this subject, and its policy is unalterable and uncompromising. We desire no concessions. We seek no sops. We grasp no shadows on this subject. We take no risks. We abhor a Northern policy of catering to the Negro in politics just as we abhor a Northern policy of social equality.”
–Josephus Daniels, editor, Raleigh News & Observer, 1912
Appointed Secretary of the Navy by Woodrow Wilson in 1913
Appointed Ambassador to Mexico by Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1933
USS Josephus Daniels named for him by the Johnson Administration in 1965
“The Negro as a race, in all the ages of the world, has never shown sustained power of self-development. He is not endowed with the creative faculty. . . . He has never created for himself any civilization. . . . He has never had any civilization except that which has been inculcated by a superior race. And it is a lamentable fact that his civilization lasts only so long as he is in the hands of the white man who inculcates it. When left to himself he has universally gone back to the barbarism of the jungle.”
–Sen. James Vardaman (D., Miss.), 1914
Chairman, Committee on Natural Resources, 1913-19
“This is a white man’s country, and will always remain a white man’s country.”
–Rep. James F. Byrnes (D., S.C.), 1919
Appointed to the Supreme Court by Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1941
Appointed Secretary of State by Harry S. Truman in 1945
“Slavery among the whites was an improvement over independence in Africa. The very progress that the blacks have made, when–and only when–brought into contact with the whites, ought to be a sufficient argument in support of white supremacy–it ought to be sufficient to convince even the blacks themselves.”
–William Jennings Bryan, 1923
Presidential nominee of the Democratic Party, 1896, 1900 and 1908
Appointed Secretary of State by Woodrow Wilson in 1913
His statue stands in the U.S. Capitol.
“Anyone who has traveled to the Far East knows that the mingling of Asiatic blood with European or American blood produces, in nine cases out of ten, the most unfortunate results. . . . The argument works both ways. I know a great many cultivated, highly educated and delightful Japanese. They have all told me that they would feel the same repugnance and objection to have thousands of Americans settle in Japan and intermarry with the Japanese as I would feel in having large numbers of Japanese coming over here and intermarry with the American population. In this question, then, of Japanese exclusion from the United States it is necessary only to advance the true reason–the undesirability of mixing the blood of the two peoples. . . . The Japanese people and the American people are both opposed to intermarriage of the two races–there can be no quarrel there.”
–Franklin D. Roosevelt, 1925
President, 1933-45
“This passport which you have given me is a symbol to me of the passport which you have given me before. I do not feel that it would be out of place to state to you here on this occasion that I know that without the support of the members of this organization I would not have been called, even by my enemies, the ‘Junior Senator from Alabama.’ ”
–Hugo Black, accepting a life membership in the Ku Klux Klan upon his election to the U.S. Senate as a Democrat from Alabama, 1926
Appointed to the Supreme Court by Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1937
“Mr. President, the crime of lynching . . . is not of sufficient importance to justify this legislation.”
–Sen. Claude Pepper (D., Fla.), 1938
Spoken while engaged in a six-hour speech against the antilynching bill
“I am a former Kleagle [recruiter] of the Ku Klux Klan in Raleigh County. . . . The Klan is needed today as never before and I am anxious to see its rebirth here in West Virginia. It is necessary that the order be promoted immediately and in every state in the union.”
–Robert C. Byrd, 1946
Democratic Senator from West Virginia, 1959-present
Senate Majority Leader, 1977-80 and 1987-88
Senate President Pro Tempore, 1989-95, 2001-03, 2007-present
His portrait stands in the U.S. Capitol.
President Truman’s civil rights program “is a farce and a sham–an effort to set up a police state in the guise of liberty. I am opposed to that program. I have voted against the so-called poll tax repeal bill. . .. I have voted against the so-called anti-lynching bill.”
–Rep. Lyndon B. Johnson (D., Texas), 1948
U.S. Senator, 1949-61
Senate Majority Leader, 1955-61
President, 1963-69
“There is no warrant for the curious notion that Christianity favors the involuntary commingling of the races in social institutions. Although He knew both Jews and Samaritans and the relations existing between them, Christ did not advocate that courts or legislative bodies should compel them to mix socially against their will.”
–Sen. Sam Ervin (D., N.C.), 1955
Chairman, Committee on Government Operations, 1971-75
“The decline and fall of the Roman empire came after years of intermarriage with other races. Spain was toppled as a world power as a result of the amalgamation of the races. . . . Certainly history shows that nations composed of a mongrel race lose their strength and become weak, lazy and indifferent.”
–Herman E. Talmadge, 1955
Democratic Senator from Georgia, 1957-81
Chairman, Committee on Agriculture, 1971-81
“These Negroes, they’re getting pretty uppity these days and that’s a problem for us since they’ve got something now they never had before, the political pull to back up their uppityness. Now we’ve got to do something about this, we’ve got to give them a little something, just enough to quiet them down, not enough to make a difference. For if we don’t move at all, then their allies will line up against us and there’ll be no way of stopping them, we’ll lose the filibuster and there’ll be no way of putting a brake on all sorts of wild legislation. It’ll be Reconstruction all over again.”
–Sen. Lyndon B. Johnson (D., Texas), 1957
“I have never seen very many white people who felt they were being imposed upon or being subjected to any second-class citizenship if they were directed to a waiting room or to any other public facility to wait or to eat with other white people. Only the Negroes, of all the races which are in this land, publicly proclaim they are being mistreated, imposed upon, and declared second-class citizens because they must go to public facilities with members of their own race.”
–Sen. Richard B. Russell Jr. (D., Ga.), 1961
The Russell Senate Office Building is named for him.
“I did not lie awake at night worrying about the problems of Negroes.”

Kennedy later authorized wiretapping the phones and bugging the hotel rooms of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
“I’m not going to use the federal government’s authority deliberately to circumvent the natural inclination of people to live in ethnically homogeneous neighborhoods. . . . I have nothing against a community that’s made up of people who are Polish or Czechoslovakian or French-Canadian or blacks who are trying to maintain the ethnic purity of their neighborhoods.”
–Jimmy Carter, 1976
President, 1977-81
Winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, 2002
“The Confederate Memorial has had a special place in my life for many years. . . . There were many, many times that I found myself drawn to this deeply inspiring memorial, to contemplate the sacrifices of others, several of whom were my ancestors, whose enormous suffering and collective gallantry are to this day still misunderstood by most Americans.”
–James Webb, 1990
Now a Democratic Senator from Virginia
“Everybody likes to go to Geneva. I used to do it for the Law of the Sea conferences and you’d find these potentates from down in Africa, you know, rather than eating each other, they’d just come up and get a good square meal in Geneva.”
–Sen. Ernest F. Hollings (D., S.C.) 1993
Chairman, Commerce Committee, 1987-95 and 2001-03
Candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination, 1984
“I do not think it is an exaggeration at all to say to my friend from West Virginia [Sen. Robert C. Byrd, a former Ku Klux Klan recruiter] that he would have been a great senator at any moment. . . . He would have been right during the great conflict of civil war in this nation.”
–Sen. Christopher Dodd (D., Conn.), 2004
Chairman, Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs
Candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination, 2008
“You cannot go into a Dunkin’ Donuts or a 7-Eleven unless you have a slight Indian accent.”
“My state was a slave state. My state is a border state. My state has the eighth largest black population in the country. My state is anything [but] a Northeastern liberal state.”
“I mean, you got the first mainstream African American [Barack Obama] who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice looking guy.”
“There’s less than 1% of the population of Iowa that is African American. There is probably less than 4% or 5% that is, are minorities. What is it in Washington? So look, it goes back to what you start off with, what you’re dealing with.”
Sen. Joseph Biden Jr., (D., Del.), 2006-07
Chairman, Committee on the Judiciary, 1987-95
Chairman, Committee on Foreign Relations
vp, 2009
Bonus quote:
“It has of late become the custom of the men of the South to speak with entire candor of the settled and deliberate policy of suppressing the negro vote. They have been forced to choose between a policy of manifest injustice toward the blacks and the horrors of negro rule. They chose to disfranchise the negroes. That was manifestly the lesser of two evils. . . . The Republican Party committed a great public crime when it gave the right of suffrage to the blacks. . . . So long as the Fifteenth Amendment stands, the menace of the rule of the blacks will impend, and the safeguards against it must be maintained.”

I reread my post and do not believe I was saying “guilty as charged” on any subject. Your point about “mean spirited” also can be found in references made about likening “neocons” to the Nazi party (fascism)and the KKK. Still not sure of the def. of NEOCON (I’m an Ind. and have no traditional party affiliation) but besides that, I stand by my original statement, that no matter who the person/party is should not make any difference as to the decision whether to investigate or not. When we as a nation start holding individuals accountable for their own actions, we will find a more honest ethos amongst our populace. We hold, on an enlisted sailor/soldier, the strictest security checks to deem if he is acceptable to hold sensitive jobs in our military but offhandedly excuse elected officials of their prior affiliations and deeds. Am not passing a guilty/not guilty opinion but asking my government to use the same strict code of oversight, used on our military members, on the politicians that make the laws and take the taxpayers money. Am the wife and mother of military men so YES I know what I’m talking about…been there, done that!

Right wingers, elections are over, get over it. McCain is not clean and has never been clean and not Sarah Palin with US$ 180 000 in clothes and etc. The governor of Ill is angry at Obama for a reason and that is he could not get what he wanted from Obama and will never get it a corrupt deal with Obama. Obama’s hands are clean and remain clean.

Thank you for proving my point. You can tell people who don’t have any proof or have anything constructive to say. They resort to name calling and bitterness. I hope in stead of what you wrote. “And I thing your nuts” you were in your intelligent way trying to say “And I think you are nuts” or “And I think You’re nuts”. And the partial statement “Obama is not as intelligent as he pretends to be, …
What is that old saying about glass houses and stones?????
I think you have a right to say anything you wish, even if all you can come up with is incoherent insults. Did you forget “I may not believe what you believe in, but I will die to defend you right to believe it”. That is a paraphrase of course. I don’t know what black or white has to do with it. Or is Mr. Chaney black (ENRON

You are absolutely right and I DO agree with you! I do not like it when I see those terms either. Although, truthfully when I come across posters such as; BOisafraud, and David I can’t help but thinking of them as such. As for Mariann Pepitone, I just consider her a die-hard party loyalist. They REALLY should hire her! Its been a long time since I have seen such party loyalty!!!!
As for the remainder of your posting;
I absolutely agree with you! We are definitely on the same page!
However, and this does not necessarily pertain to you, how would you respond to those who continue to go on about Mr. Obama’s eligibility when the following has been issued and widely deseminated? (please keeep in mind, Imake no judgements–in your case anyway. I’m quite interested.)
FactCheck.org staffers have now seen, touched, examined and photographed the original birth certificate. We conclude that it meets all of the requirements from the State Department for proving U.S. citizenship. Claims that the document lacks a raised seal or a signature are false. We have posted high-resolution photographs of the document as “supporting documents” to this article. Our conclusion: Obama was born in the U.S.A. just as he has always said.
Update, Nov. 1: The director of Hawaii’s Department of Health confirmed Oct. 31 that Obama was born in Honolulu.
Update Nov. 1: The Associated Press quoted Chiyome Fukino as saying that both she and the registrar of vital statistics, Alvin Onaka, have personally verified that the health department holds Obama’s original birth certificate.

Our goal is to apply the best practices of both journalism and scholarship, and to increase public knowledge and understanding.

So you are saying that the reverend was like Lincoln, a radical in this time. That he spoke out against the oppression of black people, in his way. I am not understanding, please explain. Mr. Obama graduated from Harvard. I think you should write the president of Harvard and give him this information and tell him he let a “dumb” person graduate.

BOisafraud–
Stop your ranting and raving. My point is…do not make statements that you say are facts unless they ARE facts that can be checked out. You tell someone to check their history books, yet you go nuts on copy and paste when you are called out on your “fictional facts”.
My post had nothing to do with racism in this contry, just on how the two parties started. At least I gave places to check the statements I posted.
In my opinion, you could use some anger management training.
Also, learn how to read exactly what is posted instead of trying to “read between the lines” and retort with name calling and lies.

Richard Daley has hundreds of more crimes under his belt than Blago but he knows how to cover himself. David Axelrod was one of Daley’s cronies and knows exactly what needs to be done to protect oneself. Axelrod will be a huge asset to Obama

conspiracy theorists: your candidate lost the election (a fair election)by millions of votes and an electoral college landslide. last week your conspiracy theory lawsuit challenging the President-Elect’s citizenship was thrown out of the U.S. Supreme Court without any hearings. now the Illinois gaovernor. will you people ever rest? and to those who call him (in a derogatory manner) “Messiah” why don’t you keep your rapture-waiting, antichrist-coming hate mongering inside your close-minded churches. mayve the rapture has already happened and you weren’t chosen. maybe this is hell and you are being tortured by having a president you don’t want. at any rate, get on with your lives.

Debate is a great way to exchange ideas and see things from another POV. These postings that garble facts and reek of lies without factual reference to back them up is adding to the false rumor mill in this country. I am sick of reading a post stating “facts” that are not true.
If you are such a fan of debates, why wouldn’t you want the truth about where the debaters are getting their facts? Debates are extremely important when drafting legislation, however members of Congress have their facts straight (hopefully?) before arguing their position.

Now…
Let’s all close our eyes, take a deep breath, mentally hold hands, and sing a chorus of kum-by-yah….

“Obama is going down. He’s not the Messiah you all thought he was.” I never thought of him as the Messiah and I don’t think any person who believes in God thought of him in that manner either. But now that you mention it what was the name of the other man they crucified for talking too much?

Oh Yuck, like everyone is so totally negative. Really so totally anti-president elect. It’s like a total drag.
I don’t want to hear anything remotely negative about my beloved president-elect…..I want to continue to believe he is perfect because I voted for him.
Whatever the president elect may have done or not done doesn’t matter to me because I LOVE him. And, he loves all of us too!
Don’t confuse me with any facts that make me think my beloved president -elect is anything less than a deity.
Let’s all hold hands and wander together through the next four years without questioning Anything, because the newly elected president will take care of us; would never ever lie; would never do anything that wasn’t perfect; and will never ever do anything that is not perfectly wonderful. I know this because he was elected by a whole lot of people and a whole lot of people could never ever be wrong!!
XXXOOO to everyone who voted the same way as me.

I am not name calling. I could win this case in court demonstrating liberals at the very least as anti-American, at the worst, traitors.
As for hyporcrites, liberals are always praising messiahs of the poor, but are far less generous with their own $$$9 (check gov’t stats on charitable contributions given by liberal vs. conservative households)
As for being socialists… my God, that would be the easiest of them all!

Seems people are using Gov. Blagojevich’s ranting & raving about Obama not playing ball with him, as proof of
Obama being clean. My theory is Obama ” IS” involved ,
but didn’t offer anything close to what Gov. Blagojevich was demanding. He wanted much more than what Obama was offering. They were in middle of negotiations & the Governor was ticked off because of the lack of substantial offers from the Obama campaign. With Axelrod & Obama both lying about having no conversations with the Governor, my theory would make more sense.
Now, If you don’t think Obama & the Governor were talking, there is no hope that you could ever come up with a logical explanation or excuse for Mr. Obama!

I do not think anyone even considered or whose name was passed or hinted for the seat should be allowed to have the seat.
The seat should be given to an independent, a Republican or the person Obama stole it from. (public knowledge how he got the seat)
To keep anymore corrupt people from moving up in government.

Just a remember, that all the people on this blogg, one of them could be sitting next to you one day or living next to you right now.
With the anger, that is a scrarrrrry thought.
Good Nite and Good Luck and my God bless you all and give you all that you deserve.

One has to laugh at the the Obama haters. They did not like him as a candidate and what’s to sway them now. Even though Blago said he couldn’t get anything from Obama but appreciation and “F” him, the nut jobs are still contorting this to somehow taint Obama. LOL! You people need to get real. Obama is no more connected to this guy than the American citizens are responsible for Cheney shooting a “friend” in the face.

Please do remember that Illinois also had Senator Paul Simon (akin to Minnesota’s late and highly missed Paul Wellstone, a rock of ethics and service.)
Some of President Elect Obama’s campaign staff began in Illinois with Senator Paul Simon, a great gentleman, and promoter of Ethics Legislation. I agree with the person who said: some politicians who go to serve must by “association” be in contact with those who serve themselves at the public’s expense. I voted for Barack Obama. I would do so again.
It has been and is a privilege to see intelligence, service, contemplation and goodness on display for the American people.
To those who said he did not “take on his Democratic Party” vis a vis Sarah Palin who “took on the old boys network”. Please, see the Ethics legislation he helped pass with Paul Simon. And, his call to the Illinois Senate three months ago to pass new Ethics legislation. The latter action a possible incentive for Gov. B. to accelerate what actions he has taken.
My sister is a County Commissioner in Illinois. She is very dedicated having had a career earlier as a college professor. She met Barack Obama several years ago being introduced by Senator Paul Simon. She was very impressed and endorsed him as a State Senator immediately.
As someone noted: good people must also be part of the political scene, for our sakes!!! Be very proud of our President Elect as someone who has kept a vision of hope and care for our country & the world. Bless all. Thank you.

It seems like since the Ill. Gov is ” very angry” that he won’t get nothing from the Obama – then he must of been expecting something in the 1st place. and then got the shaft. I smell alot of rats.

FS…
Was busy and a little time has elapsed since our “e” dialogue and I see that the civility has gone out the window with the “bath water”. You mentioned, in your comment to me, a reference to Pres-elects birth cert. Not really concerned about that. What I want is to know that it’s not going to be “business as usual” in DC as so often the case is. I believe full disclosure whatever the outcome needs to be the order of the day if this country is to ever survive. What makes our country unusual and special is the fact that we are collectively willing to say “uncle” when needed. Our salvation as a nation isn’t about who is the lessor of the evils but should be about NO EVIL. We need to hold all people accountable for the decisions in their lives. One lady said it on a blog: “We are judged by the company we keep.” Politicians should think about that BEFORE they test the questionable waters. I still believe openness and let the chips fall where they may-for good or bad. Was it the French who said “a little revolution now and then never hurt anyone..?” I admit I cannot sight the link for this ;)

Apparently, ‘The Economy’ is no longer the topic of the day, the topic of the day is ‘The Blago’.
So the question we should ask ourselves is, “Is Blagonomics a bigger problem then our current economic situation?”
Or in an interesting way, is Blagonomics what caused our current economic situation?

Obama will lie and the media and Georgie Porgie and Charlie Gibson will swear to it. John McCain told it like it was. Don’t trust a politican from Chicago, Ill. Obama’s will go down in history as the ONE who didn’t really know what all the people close to him were doing. They were just some people in the neighorhood. Cut the BS Obama.

I am willing to sell my soul to the Devil, Rev. Wright, Bill Ayers, Bernadine Dorn, Rashid Khalidi, Father Pflager, Tony Rezko, Louis Farrakhan , who is the highest Bidder? -O

Bo writes, “Ahhh, I didn’t even know Blagojevich. I think he was friends with Jeremiah Wright, whom I never listened to in Church during the 20 years I attended. I think he lives next door to Mr. Ayers, but since I don’t really know him, I’m not sure. Michelle who?”
=================================
That’s hilarious. Please don’t tell you’re one of those folks who ACTUALLY THINK (I use that term loosely) the Rev. Wright “scandal” was credible? (lol) Fifty-two weeks per year for 20 years equates to what…..1,040 sermons? Yet the found ONE that had to be “spun” to low-level thinkers. You would THINK (I use that term loosely) there would be FAR MORE evidence than ONE sermon. That is of course unless you’re gullible. (lol)

Chief Washington Propagandist: see “Obama’s Effort on Ethics Bill Had Role in Governor’s Fall” http://www.nytimes.com/2008/12/10/us/politics/10chicago.html?_r=1&hp. “A phone call (Obama) made three months ago to urge passage of a state ethics bill indirectly contributed to the downfall of a fellow Democrat he twice supported, Gov. Rod R. Blagojevich. Mr. Obama placed the call to his political mentor, Emil Jones Jr., president of the Illinois Senate. Mr. Jones was a critic of the legislation, which sought to curb the influence of money in politics, as was Mr. Blagojevich, who had vetoed it. But after the call from Mr. Obama, the Senate overrode the veto, prompting the governor to press state contractors for campaign contributions before the law’s restrictions could take effect on Jan. 1, prosecutors say. Tipped off to Mr. Blagojevich’s efforts, federal agents obtained wiretaps for his phones and eventually overheard what they say was scheming by the governor to profit from his appointment of a successor to the United States Senate seat being vacated by President-elect Obama.”

Hi CLW!!! Just returned from a bus. function. Before I address you, let me take care of some housekeeping first (To all, excuse the typos–…a little too much merlot!);
To the phony “FS;” I still maintain that your need to duplicate my pseudonym
only underlines the desperation of the extremists. It was blatantly transparent in your post! Again, NO FACTUAL EVIDENCE!
To bckrd1; You are soooo right!!! it is hard to believe that Val would not have informed Mr. Barack of any impropriety. She is FIERCELY loyal to them!
To Patricio; Your comment: “You’re full of crap, your, (I swear! I CAN’T STAND THAT!!!! The proper contraction is YOU’RE!!!!!), obviously suffering from delusions of grandeur. Barack Obama will be Impeached within two months of him taking office, for gross corruption and perjury. Enjoy”
I ask you to please elaborate upon your postng. Suffering from delusions of grandeur? …Do we know each other? I take it that you KNOW who I am? If so, you are welcomed to share it with the rest of this board. As far as Mr Obama’s fate, is there news and evidence that you are aware of that we should know? Please share… of course, please cite your sources with your supporting evidence. Thank you very kindly.
HEY CLW!!!!! How was YOUR day!!!! So glad to hear that the birth certificate is not an issue for you! In answering your question (good one too!) I HOPE that it will not be business as usual BUT Mr. Obama will have to move to the center if he is to succeed. The country has historically been “center to right,” and I still believe that to be true. His true change will come in his vision. Under Mr. Bush, (I voted for him twice), our country has suffered. In his defense, he felt what he did/is doing as the right thing. I DO NOT mean to come across as flippant! A lot of lives have been lost. However, history shall judge Mr.Bush. Mr. Obama realizes that we are in a global economy/world. There must be a new way of doing things other than the sterotypical American mantra; “God bless America–and nobody else!” THIS is the change in my opinion.
As far as your french analogy (whatever the proper word/way to call it), one could argue that the election itself was sort of a mini revolution.
I hope you get this! Only my BEST to you and your family (I would love to give you my personal email so that we may chat!), and let me say…. although we may disagree (yet to be seen because we seem to agree), I’m happy/proud to connect with someone who cares overall about America!
Have a good one! Hopefully read you tomorrow as I continue to do my civic duty!

CLW, again we agree! It is about accountablity. Its a rough road to DC (over the last 20 years.) That’s why, (I was JUST speaking to a friend of mine who is a therapist–not mine though), that although the next 6 months will be REALLY rough, I think it will be a good thing because people will “come-back” to what exactly is important to them and what makes them truly happy. I personally think those things will be very simple. However, they are things of which people are willing to fight/die for.
My best to everyone–even BO(whatever), David, Mariann, & Patricio! Just as I told my friends who are extrmely liberal that Mr. Bush is our President, I so do tell you, Mr. Barck Hussein Obama is our 44th President of the United States of America! Let’s all try and support him… at least give him a chance! God bless!

The Chicago Tribune posts a picture of Obama and Blago at the bipartican governors’ meeting on Dec. 2. Are we to believe that they only shook hands and neither one ever mentioned the Senate seat?

I should be glad but I am not. I had contacted the Governors office in the past for help with a state agency and got none. However what the people and the state of Illinois legislators are trying to do to the Governor is wrong. What happen to the land of the free, and innocent until proven guilty. Blagojevich has the right to his job until the next election or he is proven to be guilty in a court of law. I don’t care what the tapes may appear to say; he is innocent for now. How can we say we are a country of freedom when we are judged and convicted before all the fact in court are heard? This has become the norm in America and it is just wrong, shame on us all, shame on Illinois. Freedoms lost.

Obama is responsible for drawing attention to himself in this case.
The idea that a President should speak of “revelations” and call for an elected official to “resign” without due process based on Thought police allegations is scary.
Under Colors of Law alone, Obama is on the wrong side.
DOJ is to have no Opinion for the press, so Lincoln is rolling over in his grave at the injustice by the system, rather than any possibly manufactured tape of Blago the “hairdo”.
I thought taped conversations could not be admitted evidence in Courts , because voices can be manufactured these days.
At least you have not changed your hair-do George, under heavy criticism of the Illinois Govenor’s.

Posted by: woman citizen | December 13, 2008, 5:43 pm 5:43 pm

Wow this is a brilliant deduction George. Ever stop to think that maybe the reason Obama didnt wheel and deal with Blago is because everybody in Chicago knew that Blago was under investigation?
Obama is about as corrupt as they come. Can you say 800,000.00 funneled to ACORN through a front group? Can you say broken campaign pledge after broken pledge? Can you sealed campaign donor list? Can you say Rezko sweetheart deal,or Ayers CAC? Can you say sealed original birth certificate, college admissions records, and Pakistani passport?
Oh, and of course Axelrod just happened to have “misspoke”,,,, how conveneient.

Amazing how quickly the political players , and media have dubbed Blago “unfit” . He is the same man he’s been the whole time Obama has backed him. This unfit label could be true, but is only a ploy to protect Obama and others from any singing that Blago will ultimately do.

Did you guys know that most Americans can’t pass a basic civics quiz…that most Americans don’t know what’s in the U.S. Constitution (or any official government document for that matter)? Most of what I read on these message boards is nonsense and is completely uninformed. Politics are give and take–always has been, always will be. No squeaky clean person could ever be elected because there is no such thing. There’s not a religion on the planet that doesn’t address this. When I vote, I’m not trying to elect Jesus or any other squeaky clean religious figure. In fact, I doubt someone as squeaky clean as Jesus could even be elected–We wouldn’t believe a single Ad from his campaign. I vote for people whom I believe can get things done that are in the best interest of all Americans. Any politician who has done something that is harmful to the American people should be appropriately scrutinized. But the people with whom you associate are not a primary determinant of your character. Your character allows you to process these relationships in ways that are consistent with your values. There’s not a person reading this message who doesn’t know, interact, or share families with someone whose character is questionable if not downright disdainful. We DON’T always dis-own and distance ourselves from everyone who doesn’t pass our character test. In fact, we can learn something from these people. Obama ran a campaign, was elected, and will have the responsibility to govern. The others (like Clinton) lost and therefore have to choose how they will play. That’s the way it goes. Basic civics will teach you that. If you think that moral perfection fuels democracy and capitalism, your are naive. “Let he among you who be without sin cast the first stone.”

Changemyvoteplease,
Don’t just change your vote, if you’re a Democrat, do us all a favor , and change your party affiliation. Apparently you, as well, as a lot ogf Obama haters can’t read, or hear. Anybody that has read the transcript, or listened to the tapes of recorded conversations., or listened to Patrick Fitzgerald himself. Knows that Obama offered the Governor, NOTHING, ZIP, ZERO. But you haters, and fools would prefer to write your own story, devoid of facts, intelligence, or common sense. Did you even read the article? I don’t need Obama to tell me he didn’t do anything wrong. I have Gov. Blagojevich’s own words.

Posted by: randy | December 18, 2008, 2:03 am 2:03 am

Yes, the fact is that the Obama team did not take the hook. However, if they knew about the corruption why did they do nothing about it? I think the fact nothing was done about it by Obama and his administration is telling.
