Rice on Hillary: ‘She’s Terrific’

Outgoing Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice told me on "This Week" that she has spoken to Sen. Hillary Clinton, President-elect Barack Obama’s pick for State. "She’s terrific," Rice said, "I have known her for a long time, ever since she brought her freshman daughter to Stanford when I was provost at Sanford. I think she’s going to be terrific." Of her possible successor, Rice said, "President-elect Obama has made his choice and he’s made a terrific choice. Hillary Clinton is someone of intelligence and she’ll do a great job. She also has what’s most important to be Secretary of State, and that is that you love this country and you represent it from the basic of faith in it’s values, and I know that she will do that." Rice said she looks forward to returning to her life at Stanford University in about a month. "I’m going to go back to Hoover at Stanford University, back west of the Mississippi where I belong," Rice said. She said she’ll be working on K-12 education issues. "I really do believe that if we don’t prepare our people for the concerns, the jobs of the 21st century, that we’re going to turn inward, and we’re going to protect, and if the United State turns inward and protects, the whole world will and that’ll be a bad thing." –George Stephanopoulos

Phillip, she said she was going back to the Hoover Institute at STANFORD, (can you read?!?!?!) the country’s most prestigious political think-tank. I’m sure if wanted to write her, you’d find her there.

How can we ever forget Condoleeza Rice’S testimony before Congress after 9/11 when she was asked about the briefings in eary August of 2001 about the intel that “Osama Bin Laden was bragging that they were going to hijack planes and fly them into tall buildings”. Her response was that they didn’t do anything because the intel was not specific enough, because it didn’t give dates and flight numbers and subsequently the World Trade Center was destroyed. Immediately after 9/11, all airplane flight doors had locks installed so that, in the future, no-one could get into the cockpit to “fly planes into tall buildings” Had she and others acted in time more than three thousand people would not have perished; but in spite of her inaction she was shortly thereafter awarded the “Medal of Freedom”. What a shame!

I am delighted these two outstanding women already have a strong relationship, we need everyone working together to address the serious problems we face and those we share with our friends around the world.
I agree with Kim, I also appreciate women celebrating the strengths of other women–it does not happen often enough.

Condi sold her soul and always knew better than the administration. Unlike Bush, however, I think she actually wrestles with what she has done to her country, her legacy and the community from which she came.

I just love these arm chair quarterbacks who second and third guess the people who actually have to make hard decisions based on the best possible information our intelligence has at the time. You guys sound SO intelligent now after the fact. Why don’t all of you “I know better than the intelligence community”, better than the Secretary of State, better than the President of the United States, all go run for office? Since you can do it better, or can’t do it any worse, why aren’t you signing up to run for those very same offices you are so eager to advise from the comfort of your own keyboards?

The unsaid truth is Condi made it possible for Barack to be elected.
Condi’s Blackness could NOT be denied as was possible with the very light-skinned Colin Power.
She forced enough Americans to notice and choose between their racism and reality. She performed well enough that enough Americans became comfortable seeing an African American at the top of the power structure.
AND She was the VERY FIRST CLEARLY indisputable, very dark skinned, African American in such a position.
So comfortable, that in many ways she became boring — whether you agree with her agenda or not is not relavent to this point.
It’s not that she succeeded or failed, was left or right wing, but that she fulfilled the duties of the job in a way that no sensible person could interpret in a color-conscious way, and in doing so, she helped advance racial equality in the deep fundamental way that was going to be nec. for Obama to win the Presidency.
Of course there are many other reasons, but merely by being who she is, she helped, and it’s clear she is very happy with the result. So cut her some slack.

Together with George W Bush, you will go down in history as someone who destroyed world peace brought misery to millions of people. Justice can only be done if you and your masters are tried in the Hague for war crimes.

staphonopolous you are a joke. Nobody takes you seriously except the wacked out liberals in America. Charlie, Katie and Oprah might like you but the majority of Americans can’t stand you because you a fraud as a journalist.

Great feel good story staphonopolous. Now maybe you can spend some time on a real story like Obama’s birth certificate and the Supreme Court.

I sometimes wonder do you ever feel disgusted with yourself for all the monstrous acts you’ve committed? You are guilty of so many many things that I don’t even know where to start! But don’t sit back too comfortably, cause there will come a time when you and your pal, George Bush, will pay! Oh yes…

“staphonopolous you are a joke. Nobody takes you seriously except the wacked out liberals in America. Charlie, Katie and Oprah might like you but the majority of Americans can’t stand you because you a fraud as a journalist.”
Speaking for “the majority of Americans”, eh? I’m thinking the majority of a Americans wouldn’t want to be within a mile of you, let alone have you speak for them.

“Hillary is terrific.” Really. Don’t you mean HORRIFIC? And spell that first syllable any way you like.

One wonders: is Condi’s focus on K-12 issues due to her experience with “W”?

Have you heard of Singapore math? Rice
did a fabulous job on the international
stage. What’s even more impressive is the understanding of education as a national security issue for the future. Let’s make sure the next generation of Americans is not afraid of the world.

Condoleeza Rice, a class act. She is worthy of the place she has earned in history. I would be glad for any one I know to study under her leadership.
I look forward to Dr. Rice’s work and can only say that it is unfortunate that we will not have her service in the Executive Branch of the United States government for the next few years.
Dr. Rice, in your studies, do not forget to study the ways that well planned homeschooling enhances the lives of many K-12 students and the burden that is carried by those that choose to give their children quality educations from home.
All the Best!

I love both of these two women.
Hillary inspired me to be interested in presidential election.
Rice inspried me to be a great woman. I haven’t played piano for months. Recently, I watched Rice’s video playing piano in front of the queen. After that, I made up mind to continue playing piano too. No matter what work I do, I got remember, I’m a woman, I should keep improving myself as a woman. Thanks.

you people are a joke; comparing the usa to nazis is such a stupid and moronic comment. We took action after we had been attacked and a homicidal dictator was eliminated. You ignore what actually happened
