Can Palin Come Back if She Doesn’t Go Away?
ABC News’ Rick Klein Reports: When Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., lost the election, the advice for Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin was close to universal: Go away for a while, to prime yourself for a comeback down the road. Palin had the perfect place to disappear: home. She could go back to running a state, maybe run for re-election in 2010. Up in Alaska, she’d be safely out of the media glare while she prepped for a presidential run in 2012, or whatever other plans she has for the future. But she has hit a detour on her way to silence: herself. Palin is everywhere, fighting and refighting the battles that dogged her during the campaign. Last week came word of an interview in which she sounded off anew about her handlers in the McCain campaign, Caroline Kennedy and media bias, with particularly harsh words for Katie Couric. (“Katie,” she said, “you’re not the center of everybody’s universe.”) Now comes Palin in a "What I’ve Learned" piece in the Esquire, where she takes on the media, again: “Bored, anonymous, pathetic bloggers who lie annoy me,” she says. “I’ll tell you, yesterday the Anchorage Daily News, they called again to ask — double-, triple-, quadruple-check — who is Trig’s real mom. And I said, ‘Come on, are you kidding me? We’re gonna answer this? Do you not believe me or my doctor?’ And they said, ‘No, it’s been quite cryptic the way that my son’s birth has been discussed.’ And I thought, ‘OK, more indication of continued problems in the world of journalism.’” The latest round of Palin comments prompted this from James Rainey, the Los Angeles Times’ media critic: “Sarah Palin said she’d prove all her doubters wrong," Rainey writes. "She’d stick to her job running Alaska, she said after the election. She’d do top-notch work. And she’d steer clear of those nasty national politics.” “It just might work one day, if the good governor can get a grip on her other self, the one that can’t resist pontificating, ducking responsibility for her own stumbling statements and taking off after that Great Satan, the media.” Americans love comeback stories. But can you have a comeback if you don’t ever really go away? ABC’s Imtiyaz Delawala points out that Palin is also playing media critic in a fight with the most influential newspaper in her home state. She recently engaged in a fiery e-mail spat with the editors of the Anchorage Daily News. This is from an e-mail message the governor sent the newspaper’s editors: “Hello Mr. Doyle and Mr. Dougherty! “Please, say it aint so: did you really allow a story to run in your paper today claiming Levi Johnston is a high school drop out? Did I read that right? “And did you really print a story last week suggesting I had any connection with Sherry Johnston’s activities in the past six months or so and you won’t correct the story? Did I read that right? “And is your paper really still pursuing the sensational lie that I am not Trig’s mother? Is it true you have a reporter still bothering my state office, my very busy doctor (who’s already set the record straight for you), and the school district, in pursuit of your ridiculous conspiracy? “And, oh, I could go on . . . “Come on Mr. Doyle and Mr. Dougherty, I so desperately want to have even a tiny bit of faith in the ADN. You’re stripping me of even a shred of faith in your reporting if any of the recent aforementioned strange and untrue reports were taken seriously by the ADN. Would you shed some light on what you’re thinking regarding these false reports you’ve pursued and/or printed?”

Governor Palin will run and win the presidential election in 2012. Her record of accomplishment will be compared to Obama’s failure over the next four years.
In four years, the change mantra will belong to anyone except Obama. Change will finally come to Washington in the form of a true reformer, a tireless advocate of smaller government, and a person who is intelligent enough to understand why our founding fathers granted favored strong states over a strong federal government.

Palin needs to hang it up already. What a losing jerk who has no sense of class whatsoever, a slut for a daughter, a loser for a future son-in-law and of course the “hide her in the closet” in-law that dispenses drugs without a pharmaceutical license. As for the paternity of Trigg… still wondering how she could take a 10 hour flight home after her “ater broke”. When it is your 5th child, things move along rather swiftly… and I defy anyone to produce a picture of her while “expecting” Trigg, belly in full bloom – and don’t try to tell me she is physically fit enough to hide it. That’s hog wash.

truth, you do not get to decide alone who our next president will be. We all have a say in that. Governor Palin will make a great president just as she has been a great governor. Nothing will change in Washington until we elect someone who has the vision and stength to enact real change. There just isn’t anyone out there with the kind of record for reform that Governor Palin has.
Governor Palin has a support site that already has 65000 dedicated people ready to assist her in her run in 2012. She is not going to go away. The libs and their allies in the press understand this and that is why they are attacking her. The attacks will backfire just as they did when they tried to destroy Reagan.

The writers of this piece must be like 8 years old. When you’re 8 years old, perhaps the 9 week period that hat elapsed since the election feels like forever. Perhaps it seems so long because they are impatient for their messiah to take office?
Palin has been deluged with requests for interviews and appearances since the election ended. Even people like the big ‘O’ who had no place for her while they were working on getting ‘the one’ elected are suddenly interested in speaking with her. Have no fear ABC. This nation in general, and people who rely on television for their news in particular, have the mental faculties of fruit flies. They’ll forget all about Sarah Palin soon enough.

I LONG for the day Palin disappears from the news. She is no longer entertaining – she is pathetic. She won’t be nominated for anything in 2012, since the GOP realized that she almost singlehandedly lost the presidential election for them. Better yet for us Dems, maybe we should encourage her to run, thus ensuring us another victory.

Of the four candidates in 2008 (Obama, McCain, Palin, Biden) she was the most qualified to be PRESIDENT.
-Most executive experience
-Most government reforms implemented
-Understood energy, national security and the economy better than the other three
-Broadest and most diverse list of accomplishments out of the four of them
-Highest approval rating of any governor in the nation
After 4 years of a calamitous, Socialistic economy, threats to our national security, staggering inflation and civil unrest, Obama will be drummed out of office.
The good-lookin’, sharp-shootin’, self-made gal with the experience, the know-how and the common touch is going to put this country back on track in 2012.
Thanks Libs, for electing a complete doofus into an office he’s woefully unqualified for. It’ll make Sarah Palin’s 2012 victory that much easier – - and sweeter. You betcha! ;)

Sarah Palin’s handlers could yank out her cheap dangling earrings, string some chunky pearls around her neck, put her in a tailored jacket, and give her a new hairdo to go along with her speech, but they couldn’t take the Pamela Smart out of her. No matter how long she would rehearse those lines, she would still curl up her lip and snarl whenever she wanted to make a point. And someone forgot to tell her anything about diction and lowering her voice.
The Witch of Wasilla is pathetic and self defeating. Nothing could be better for the Democratic party. I say BRING HER ON!

The more I hear from Palin the more she sounds like a broken record career politician. Certian politicians like Bush and now Palin make a career out of laying problems at anyone’s feet other then their own. How refreshing would it be if people and the politicians themselves expected personal responsibility and accountability, a concept that Palin has obviously not even considered. Anyone who talks in absolutes and is constantly blaming other should be nowhere near power, as Bush has shown.

Governor Palin is a breath of fresh air in the political world. She didn’t get elected because of her name. She didn’t have a rich family that could buy her way into elected office. She simply worked hard, perservered, and in the end succeeded where many other failed. As a governor, she is one of 50 people selected to lead out of a pool of 300 million. And the liberals want you to believe that she lacks intelligence? Anyone with the record of accomplishment that governor Palin has should be an inspiration to us all. Who out there doesn’t hope their own child works hard and SUCCEEDS like Governor Palin?
If she were a Democrat she would be lauded for these successes. As a Republican, she will be forced to defend herself against sophmoric attacks. Thankfully Governor Palin is stronger than her mean spirited detractors.

What did Mark Twain say? Never pick a fight with someone that buys ink by the barrel.
Palin is fighting a battle that she cannot win and really does not have to fight. That battle is with the media. Assuming she does go after the 2012 GOP nomination, she will go up againist at least six other contenders and have to raise millions of dollars to compete. She will need every ally she can get. She definitely does not want to make an enemy of the media. If she does, every little mistake, every misstep along the way will be covered extensively.
Sarah – go home to Alaska and take McCain’s advice. The year 2009 is way too early to bid for the 2012 nomination.

People can’t wait to see what stupid thing she is going to say or do next. I can’t stand the woman, but she’s good for a laugh now that she isn’t a chicken bone away from the presidency. Does she actually have any common sense? Anyone who “quit” high school is a dropout, regardless of whether they complete it through other means later. So what?? The things that she has done or hindered, while in the office as gov, is about the same as what Blago did, except that he was caught!! Sure, she should open her mouth more and often, so that people can really see the true persona of this person with each word uttered!!

I am not scared or Repubs being in office, but I really am scared of anyone being President that has not likely read a book in years! I would expect an average 10th grader to be able to answer several some of the questions about US domestic and foreign policy that flew right over Palin’s head! Palin is so light(weight) that she could tap dance on Cool Whip!!

Biden made many mistakes, but the media took no attention to that.
Obama made mistakes during the election ( among others 57 states) but the media took no attention of that.
Sarah Palin made a mistake and the media enlarged that mistake a 100X .
And the interview and the debate that went well the media almost took no notice of.
And in this way the lib media created a total distorted image of Sarah palin.

At the very least, I hope she buries her heads in some books and take notice to what’s going on in the political world outside of Alaska, in the next 4 years and then…..just maybe she will have a shot (I highly doubt it) but there obviously are some of you that are willing to support her.

Reagan, Bush, Clinton and Bush…combined! According to Obama we will have a trillion dollar deficit for many, many years to come. If that’s not gloom and doom…then what is. The left philosophy won’t last…continuing to spend a ton of money isn’t the answer. Bush turned into a Socialist…I’m happy to see him go, but Obama’s agenda to spend won’t work over the next four years….

Give me a break. This lady needs to go back to shooting Moose instead of her mouth.

But she’s right when it comes to the ridiculous stories that the mainstream media ran as fact – that was a disgrace and no one in the media is willing to stand up and admit they were flat out wrong – they reported various lies about a teenagers and infants as fact – several times.
You may not like Sarah Palin’s politics or her style or even her – and that’s OK – but on this issue, she’s right and the day that we just let the media get away with printing whatever they want (regardless of the truth) – is a pretty sad day. They need to know they did wrong and if they’re not going to correct it, they at least need to make sure they don’t repeat those cases where they show serious lack of judgment.

I would think she should be taking care of the govenors office and her family, instead of this crap blaming the press for the loss. It was not the press – it was Palin herself losing.

You know it’s funny – this is an article implying that Palin should go away, when the reality is, Palin has returned to Alaska, she’s running her state and the media continues to GO TO HER for interviews. She’s not seeking out interviews – they’re going to her.
To top it off, people claim to be tired of Palin, yet every interview she gives ends up being picked up by all the major media networks – they’re the ones keeping her in the news.
Palin is a public figure – she always was. She’s going to be out there giving interviews, just like she did before the election season and she’s going to continue even though the election is over. How many governors out there actually ignore the media?? Very few, if any!

Throughout the 2008 presidential campaign, vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin became the #1 target of the media. Her straight-forward, no-nonsense approach was just a little too “rustic” for them, and she was criticized relentlessly. Whether it was her family, her knowledge of issues, her experience, or her wardrobe, nothing was off limits for the media who were foaming at the mouth to get Barack Obama elected.

I 100% agree that Gov. Palin is right on this. We most definitely won’t hear a single word against Carolyn Kennedy. Too bad the media have been bought out by people with nothing more than image behind them. A name (e.g. Kennedy) doesn’t automatically qualify a person for a job.

I can’t remember a campaign where the media went after the children of a candidate like they have Gov Palin’s family. The media was always at least respectful and stayed away from the children no matter what party the candidate was from. They have hit an all time low. I can’t think of a single media report (other than FOX) that was given about her accomplishments, administration, budgeting, cabinet appointments, state Commander-In-Chief etc. She deserves to speak out, and last I knew (at least until 20 January) we still had free speech in the constitution. You go Sarah, we love ya !!

Regardless of whether or not people find her intelligent, qualified or fit for the Presidency there is 1 huge problem. Palin rallies and gets a rise out of the Republican base and little else. This is the same Republican base that has atrophied and withered away during 8 years of the Bush administration. She doesn’t attract or excite anyone outside of the party faithful.
Should the Republicans really want to try and defeat Obama in 2012 or run against most likely Hillary in 2016 they need to expand and grow their base. She stands little chance little chance if Obama has any sort of success in his 1st 4 years and Hillary would destroy her coming out of 8 years of improvement. (If the Obama White House fails it won’t matter, we will all be learning to speak Chinese or Russian to communicate with our new masters)
If anyone really expects Palin to attract much needed new blood to the Republican Party you are only kidding yourself, she just doesn’t appeal to anyone outside the base. Now she is slowly making herself look even more inept by saying it is everyone else’s fault but her own for the election and campaign snafus. She is doing herself a disservice, it makes it look like she couldn’t handle the situation and left it all up to her “handlers.” Really? You were running for the Vice Presidency and just sat back and did as you were told even as you now say things were going from bad to worse? How does this “pity me” line of defense she is now spinning inspire anyone to have any faith in her abilities?
Watch as the Republican Party disowns her over the next 2-3 years.

Proof of media bias against Palin?
Remember all the stories about how outrageous it was for the RNC to spend 150K on clothes for Governor Palin? Where is the same outrage and coverage of Obama asking for $150,000,000 for the inauguration? That’s right, 150 MILLION dollars. Bush had to declare an emergency to free up that huge sum. Couldn’t this money be used for better purposes? Couldn’t we feed a lot of homeless people with 150 Million dollars?
Contrast that to Governor Palin. She announced recently that she will not request and will not accept a raise for as long as she servers as governor. This is leadership by example. Obama? He has demonstrated that he is all about the power and prestige – this is not change. Change will have to wait until 2013 when Governor Palin moves into the white house.

Governor Palin also maintains a budget surplus in Alaska. Unlike most governors, Sarah Palin was intelligent enough to realize that state proceeds from high oil prices would not last forever. She returned $1200 per person to the citizens of her state and banked the rest. If only we could get Washington to do that.
Also, Governor Palin has finally pushed through the new gas line. Governors in Alaska have been trying to accomplish that for nearly 30 years. Governor Palin took on the oil companies that were opposing construction and has through her hard work and understanding of the impediments achived a great success. The citizens of her state and in fact the entire nation will reap the benefits of a reliable, cost effective source of clean natural gas.

Palin would be better suited for a stint on the Real Housewives of Anchorage. Or, perhaps she could host another rightwingnut radio program on family values. Perhaps, Jamie Lynn Spear’s mother and she could discuss parenting, where they went wrong.

Sarah said “God’s will has to be done in unifying people and companies to get the gas line built,” and asked the congregation to pray for that. “I can do my job there in developing our natural resources and doing things like getting the roads paved and making sure our troopers have their cop cars and their uniforms and their guns, and making sure our public schools are funded. But really all of that stuff doesn’t do any good if the people of Alaska’s heart isn’t right with God.”
Actual construction of God’s pipeline still hasn’t started. Back in 2007, Sarah said construction should start in summer of 2008. So who’s to blame for the foot-dragging? Do we blame Sarah for not developing resources in a timely fashion? Do we blame the congregation for not praying for unification? Do we blame the people of Alaska for having heart problems? Or maybe God changed his mind about the gas pipeline and forgot to tell Sarah. One thing is for sure, when it comes to blame, Sarah will shift any trace of it off her own shoulders.

Let me help you Palinites out, because without doubt, I am not drinking anything nor taking any drug.
-Never believed the stories about her baby. Never heard about them until I heard Palin complain about the nonsense. In my mind, she said the child is hers–who am I to question?
-Never thought Palin to be at fault regarding the clothing fiasco. That’s all the fault of handlers from my experiences. She probably just gave her dress size. The rest was up to the “consultants.”
-Never bought into the Africa stuff. If it did indeed happen, it was just a gaffe. These people were worked so hard and had to absorb so much–simple mistake in my book.
-Always respected her religion AND that was probably the ONLY time that I have been sympathetic to her plight.
WHY I FEEL THE WAY I DO; I have listened/watched all, if not most, of her interviews. I have researched her track record as Governor, and I have read her positions….
With that in mind, I ask you Palinites what exactly are YOU all drinking or chemically ingesting?

Blo – Community organizers are church organizatons helping the community in various ways. They staff the food pantries, clothing closets and often emergency shelters. They are the Boy Scouts, the Girl Scouts, Boys and Girls Club, Habitat for Humanity, 4-Hers and the list goes on. They are the people out there trying to help those less fortunate or for what ever reason are “undesirable.” Since you asked.

Yes, I’ve heard this lie before. The claim is a total fabrication, and the sources that publicized it have retracted the story. Go to Snopes or Factcheck and do a little research before keeping these stupid rumors going.

Or in barry’s case he can be called a community agitator. He helped acorn stage sit-ins at banks that were meant to pressure bank/lending execs into giving poor people loans that they COULD NEVER pay back. He also sued banks/lenders in the 90′s for discrimination if they didn’t hand out loans to deadbeats.
Barry also hung out with one of the worst community agitators in chicago- rev racist.
Some other community agitators that didn’t end up with such good results were Hitler, Sal Alinsky, Karl Marx, David Duke ect.
Please don’t give barry a halo just because he calls himself a community organizer.
And for the record, michell o did order iranian cavier and lobster and it was one heck of a bill. Kind of like barry’s $10,000 suits and her new $40,000 ring she just bought (finally change we can believe in) ha!

David, your posting only underlines that you have serious issues of which I pray that you seek help. I KNOW for a fact (with my own eyes)that proof-positive has been presented to you on MORE than ONE occasion regarding the incident you cite. It is PLAINLY & SIMPLY untrue!!! It is WRONG of you to continually try and spread/promote untruths! Once again for your benefit:
Correction of the day award goes to The New York Post’s Page Six, which ran this item today:
The source who told us last week about Michelle Obama getting lobster and caviar delivered to her room at the Waldorf-Astoria must have been under the influence of a mind-altering drug. She was not even staying at the Waldorf. We regret the mistake, and our former source is going to regret it, too. Bread and water would be too good for such disinformation.
The original item, which ran on October 17th, has been scrubbed from the Post’s Web site.
David, your posting is only an example of your desperation and willingness to remain dilusional.
(slap)(slap)
SARAH PALIN IS INEPT & UNINFORMED!

This hoax e-mail, which purports to show a copy of Michelle Obama’s exorbitant room service receipt, reproduces a flyer that was posted on the blog of a pro-Hillary Clinton political action committee, Puma PAC. The flyer quotes Michelle Obama saying that “someone is going to have to give up a piece of the pie” for the sake of universal health care and education. It then pictures a receipt from the Waldorf-Astoria hotel in New York City, dated October 15, showing a total charge of $447.39 for lobster appetizers, lobster, caviar (Iranian caviar, no less), champagne and room service charges. The receipt is signed with the name Michelle Obama.
We certainly hope this is an Adobe Photoshop job, since the alternative explanation is that someone ran up a $450 bill at the Waldorf-Astoria just to perpetrate a cruel hoax. Or perhaps that someone stole Michelle Obama’s credit card. Or that there’s someone else named Michelle Obama, someone with expensive tastes. What’s certainly true is that Michelle Obama, the presidential candidate’s wife, did not dine on lobster in New York on October 15. She was more than 600 miles away giving a speech in Indiana.
The New York Post, which originally reported the fabricated story as true on October 17, has retracted its article. Darragh Murphy, the director of Puma PAC, has also retracted the flyer and apologized for perpetuating the hoax.

Oh Get over yourself! Most people volunteer in their community – I personally don’t know anyone who doesn’t get out there and help. They volunteer in many ways, shapes and forms and they come from all cross sections of the community and represent all political parties. Republicans volunteer too – even those conservative churches that people love to hate, with pews filled with Republican voters – they are out there volunteering too. When Palin said “being a mayor is a little bit like being a community organizer except …” she was responding directly to Obama’s comment about her political experience. Everyone knows it. She said nothing about any other community organizer or community organizing in general, and frankly, after what Obama said about Palin’s experience, he deserved it. Maybe every mayor in the country should have been offended by his comments – but they weren’t – just like every community organizer in the country really wasn’t offended by Palin directly responding to Obama’s comments about her experience. And by the way, when Obama was a community organizer, he was NOT a volunteer – he was a paid staff member of the organization he worked for – equating that with the volunteers who help in their communities on weekended or after work is way off base.

FS, I support Governor Palin because of her ability to lead. Anyone who takes an unbiased look at her accomplishments in Alaska cannot honestly say that she has failed to govern effectively. You might not agree with her on certain issues but then I doubt there is any politician that supports 100% of your positions.
However, I believe her record on reform is her most important accomplishment. Washington is broken and has been for a very long time. Whether we elect a Democrat or a Republican the system never changes. We lurch from the excesses of one party to the excesses of the other party and our government gets incrementally worse. Most establishment candidates will resist any meaningful changes to this cycle of failure and greed, including Obama. Governor Palin will force change where it is needed. She does not care if it is her own party or the opposition party that is the problems; in either case, she will challenge that failed view of government and seek to bring change. She has done this in Alaska and we sorely need the same thing in Washington.

Sarah Palin is protesting and complaining too much about many people. This is hurting her chances for 2012. Some of her accusations were cruel and facts do not support her statements.
Sarah Palin is beautiful, appears friendly, and delivers great speeches. Possibilities would be great for her, if she just stopped her negativity. And I doubt if she will, this has been evidenced over her whole political life of service. She takes criticism personally, and has usually has gone out to damage or destroy those who anger her.
I researched her intensely as I was excited about her being selected. Unfortunately, I soon became alarmed.
Her present behavior is very unbecoming, and reveals just how inexperienced she is. I am a woman, and running is not easy for woman. But she needs to just let all of her complaints go.
Just an opinion from a registered Republican.

James, I appreciate your view. However, we agree to disagree. We are looking at the same data and interpreting it differently. That’s O-Kay and its WONDERFUL! That’s why its called “intellectual” political discourse. If that is what you see when you view Sarah Palin, then she should really value you as a supporter.

One other comment. I saw many of you made positive comments she was strong for reform. Sarah never reformed government. FBI who had been in Alaska since 2004(before Sarah became governor and mainly she won because FBI has just raided politicians offices in August just prior to her running for governor November), is agency responsible for Alaska government change. Ten politicians, etc indicted sure does help make lawmakers tow the line. Sarah just likes to try to take credit for reform. Sarah did nothing to cause any change. And FBI is still there. Appears Alaska government was pretty corrupt.

Dave Wrote:
“Don’t forget Palin sold the private jet and fired the private chef. Again, leadership by example. She is truly a woman who cares about the people she was elected to represent.”
——————————–
Good try, but wrong. Palin moved the chef to another position cooking for other government types, saving the good people of Alaska NO MONEY WHATSOEVER.
“CHOW HOUNDS … Remember the long-time executive chef who lost her job at the Mansion when Sarah decided to live mostly in Wasilla instead of Juneau? Stefani Marnon was first reassigned as a “constituent relations assistant” in the governor’s office and later to the state museum.
Earwigs report she’s finally landed where they really appreciate a good chef: the Legislative Lounge. Lawmakers were smacking their lips in anticipation, according to Sen. Kim Elton’s newsletter.”
As for the jet sold on eBay story, it’s another lie/falsehood as well. It never sold on eBay, they tried and it was eventually sold eslwhere at a discounted price.
Both the Chef & plane myths are the bizarrely made up stories that were crafted to make her look like a good executive but don’t hold up to any scrutiny. Who cares if you sold a plane on eBay or not, why lie about it? It did get sold. Yet Palin plugged away on that one hard.
This is the same fiscal conservative and budget minded Palin who after becoming mayor of Wasilla in 1996, “spent more than $50,000 in city funds to redecorate her office, without the council’s authorization.”
In addition, “Despite being elected as a full-time mayor with executive responsibilities and a salary of $68,000, which she subsequently reduced to $64,000, Palin hired a city administrator, John Cramer, thus adding another salary to Wasilla’s budget. Apparently this was brokered by Republican party leaders after some Wasilla residents, upset by Palin’s inability to differentiate between official responsibilities and personal preferences, threatened a recall.
To have a full-time administrator in a municipality of less than 7,000 residents, when you already have a full-time mayor, smacks of managerial overkill or a mayor that can’t do the job.”
John Cramer’s Salary? $50,000.
In addition, “Palin, who portrays herself as a fiscal conservative, racked up nearly $20 million in long-term debt as mayor of the tiny town of Wasilla — that amounts to $3,000 per resident. She argues that the debt was needed to fund improvements. “
So keep spinning the myth of Sarah Palin from saving money to being some sort of executive mastermind capable of balancing a budget on her pinky. It just doesn’t hold up to any scrutiny and you really, really don’t have to look hard.
One other bit her supporters don’t realize, if she runs in 2012 she will actually have to debate this time. Not the one and your done, can I call ya’ Joe? farce she index carded her way through. She will face a gauntlet of Republican party debates against the likes of Huckabee’s and Romney’s gunninng for the same spot. Do you really think she will be able to squeak with with a few “You Betcha’s” and a wink. wink?

Created Alaska’s Petroleum Systems Integrity Office
Created Climate Change Subcabinet for Alaska.
Overhauled the state’s ethics laws
Developed a competitive process to construct a gas pipeline.
Chaired the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission.
Chaired the National Governor’s Association (NGA) Natural Resources Committee,
Served two terms on the City Council and two terms as the mayor/manager of Wasilla, Alaska.
Chaired the Alaska Conservation Commission
And the media were and are silent about the accomplishments of Gov.Palin.
The main stream media only wanted to talk about gossip and lies.( and spreading gossip and lies about Palin and her family).
And what were Obama and Biden saying?
? Was she the one who said…
“57 states in the USA?” (he probably believes that given barry’s level of patriotism and knowledge of accurate American history)
“JOBS is a 3 letter word”- biden
“Roosevelt came on television in 1929 and told Americans to be calm about the crash” -biden
“Bosniac”-biden
“You want to see how middle class I am? Go down to katie’s restaurant”
(it closed 20 years ago joe)
“Hillary is more qualified then I am, she would have been a better choice”
(can anyone of you liberal lemmings imagine if Palin had said that about Romney)
And the media were completely silent about this mistakes.
Only when Palin made a mistake ,this mistake was enlarge 100X .so,to damage her.
Or her words were completely taken out of contex.

Palin isn’t the only one doing Esquire interviews. Lookie what Mike Huckabee told Esquire:
I must say I did not think that either the Charlie Gibson interview or the Katie Couric interviews were unfair. In fact, if anything, Katie Couric was extraordinarily gentle, even helpful. [Palin] just…I don’t know what happened. I can’t explain it. It was not a good interview. I’m being charitable.

I can’t believe “baby rumors” are still a topic. I have huge major problem with Sarah’s tale about her membranes leaking, then she gave speech, and ultimately flew back to Alaska to give birth. As I am past obgyn nurse – her related story was absurd and medically dangerous for her and her baby. No obgyn doctor would medically allow a fifth time pregnant woman with leaking membranes to fly. This would be medical malpractice. She should have been advised to go to hospital immediately even if she had no labor symptoms. Birth of her baby who was one month early could occur quickly (highly likely since fifth child)since membranes were leaking and fragile. No airlines allow pregnant women to fly legally in their last month of pregnancy and considering her circumstances absolutely would be forbidden.
Sarah Palin put herself and her baby in great danger. Baby was one month early and she knew he was already diagnosed with problems. Medically she had no way of knowing if he had other coexisting medical conditions as well. Likelihood of neonatal intensive care for her baby were high. And possibly life threatening intervention and care needed. If baby born on plane- medical help for baby would not be available. Baby’s life was endangered.
I could care less if Trig is Sarah’s or not. Just upset that Sarah did not put her baby’s welfare first. This was her fifth child and this is 2009. All pregnant woman get prenatal educational material. She knows better.
Her actions can not be excused!!! I challenge anyone to medically debate me regarding this information. Trig could have died. What if he was born on airlines and needed neonatal intensive medical care!! Chances for this to occur were high.
Republican or Democrat – makes no difference. Sarah Palin did not put the safety of her baby first.

NOOOOO!!! Keep her out there, for the longer she stays and the more she opens her mouth, it will be so obvious that she is a total empty-headed self-destructor. Now we hope that Joeplumber and war correspondent will return and do another full interview with her. We truly want to keep her on the scene as long as possible.
Posted by: Sareena Jones | January 14, 2009, 6:09 pm 6:09 pm
Sharon – the baby was born safe and sound without incident – a perfectly normal delivery. Unless you were there and have first-hand knowledge, you are in no position to judge or to say that Palin put her baby in danger. Even Palin’s doctor has said that the baby was never in any danger. That whole story is just something that people cling to try and paint Palin as a bad mother – it’s easier than talking about her political career and accomplishments.

I love all of the open-minded liberal comments about Gov. Palin here.
Let’s be honest. Without the FIERCE protection from the mainstream media, Joe Biden would have been exposed for the plagerizing, foot in his mouth, delusional senator that he was.
And how can anyone forget that witout the complete ADORATION barry himself enjoyed from the msm, he would have been exposed for the socialist, anti-American, racist person he is. Can anyone imagine rashid khalidi, ayers, michelle, barry , and rev racist sitting around the oval office doing fist bumps to eachother (provided ayers doesn’t try and blow it up).
Thank you mainstream media! Throughout this election you proved once and for all that objectivity is out the window and it has been replaced by your own agendas.

“I could care less if Trig is Sarah’s or not.” – posted by Sharon
Just a tiny little detail, at the Republican National Convention, Trig was 3 months old and Sarah’s daughter, Bristol was 5 months pregnant, so as an OBGYN nurse, how can you even consider those baby rumors as anything but folly? Clearly, Bristol not Trig’s mother. I know that the media loved to leave that detail out when reporting the “baby rumor” story, but facts are facts, whether you like them or not.

Her own party was slamming her but I don’t here her whining about that. If she runs in 2012 her own party will have a good time slamming her again. Wait till the Rove slander machines take their toll on her. When McCain ran against Bush they had robo-calls that said McCain had fathered a black child, referring to the child John and Cindy adopted. Why is it that repubs can’t run on their own merit and have to slander everyone including people in their own party even if it’s not true?
Posted by: rickyt1234 | January 14, 2009, 6:28 pm 6:28 pm
rickyt1234 – Criticism from her party is one thing – seems she doesn’t have a problem with that. The article is about how the media took lies, started by bloggers, and reported them as fact without any concern for truthfulness or fact-checking (very irresponsible). The stories about Trig not being Palin’s son is just one example – reporting Bristol’s boyfriend as a “high school dropout” is another – the list goes on. Still, to this day, no one in the media has stood up and apologized for telling lies about Palin’s children – none of them have accepted responsibility for that.

Thinking about it; Those are Sarah Palin’s allegations and not necessarily the media. Honest to goodness (not that it did not occur)I don’t recall seeing anything in the traditional media about her youngest not being hers (and I read 5 or 6 newspapers daily.) The first I heard of it, was when SHE (Palin) mentioned it during some interview. As for her future son-in law, (which remains to be seen.), high school is in session. Is he attending? If not, he has “dropped out.” From my understanding, both young people are studying for their GED (General Equivalency Diploma) which in many states is not held with the same regard as a High School Diloma. So? Wherein is the lie?
The Governor keeps these mistruths alive herself and via a reality that she has created for herself. The criticisms of Sarah Palin does not lie in all this “noise.” Her criticism is that she is wefully uninformed–especially for the high office she sought.
That’s not the media’s fault, or John McCain’s, daughter’s, daughter’s boyfriend, handlers, the Father, Son, or the Holy Ghost!
Its Sarah Palin’s fault

You are making medically uneducated statements. What you are saying – you know better and challenge national standardized prenatal protocols made by a commission of top medical professionals. Have you worked in neonatal intensive care, or OB-Gyn labor and delivery or an OB-Gyn MD office giving prenatal advice?? I have, and I am an RN licensed to have given/give prenatal advice, and know the prenatal protocols. I worked OB-Gyn for ten years.
Be apprised I did not have to be present to make my medical statements. What she did is major “NO-NO WAY” per Ob-Gyn professionals. My sister who is nonatal intensive care RN back in Nebraska was outraged. My husband developed the first successful neonatal transport in the United States. He is a State EMS Commissioner. Told me he had discussed with some of the University of California at San Francisco neonatologists and Ob-Gyns – just shook their heads. No way!!
You may have your opinion. But you are choosing to ignore medical protocol/facts, and most importantly the safety of baby Trig. Ignore safety of Sarah too. If you ever have children I hope you put your baby’s welfare and safety first. If you are a female I truly hope you put your safety as a top priority too.
My stance is not in any way political. This is a medical opinion following guidelines.

Sarah Palin has no other way to get herself into the spotlight of news and the media now except by bringing up such ignorant conversations that makes her look even more ridiculous than she did when she was hand picked to run for the Vice President. I hope to God that Americans have more sense in year 2012 not to vote for her again. She’s such a liar and a cry baby.

Wondering what the smart and wise of the Republican party think about where they are and where they are headed?
Doesn’t sound like Paling fits into the future of the party, looks more like she is the antithesis of all that is wrong with the GOP. Do you really think she does anything to build up outside of the base?
http://www.riponsociety.org/forum109a.htm
The Way Back
-Tom Davis
Republicans must be wondering: Can it get any worse? As late as 2006, we held the White House and a majority in both houses of Congress. Come January, all three will be in Democratic hands – with a near-filibuster-proof majority in the Senate.
As chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee for two of its most successful cycles, I’ve seen our party in much better shape. But I’ve seen it in worse shape as well.
Republicans rebounded from landslide losses in 1964 and 1974 that were more devastating than this year’s. Our presidential candidate, Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., received 46 percent of the popular vote this year. He carried 22 states and came within a few thousand votes of carrying four more.
He did as well as could be expected considering the circumstances. He was outspent 4-1 as he carried the banner of a party whose two-term incumbent had lower poll numbers for a longer period than any president in American history, had involved the country in an unpopular war and had seen the economy collapse in October. No other Republican could’ve come close to those numbers.
But let’s not kid ourselves, our party is broken. In no small way, we’ve been victims of our own success. We fought communism and won. We fought stagnation brought on by high taxes and restrictive government policies. Today, voters take low taxes as a given, and the burden of proof – even in the wake of the financial crisis – is on those who would regulate, not those who would remove regulations.
With the heavy lifting out of the way, we indulged in more trivial pursuits – and this led to trouble. We talked to ourselves and not to voters. We became more concerned with stem cell policy than economic policy, and with prayer in schools rather than balance in our public budgets and priorities. Not so long ago, it was easy to paint the Democrats as the party of extremists. Now, they say we’re extremists, and voters agree.
As a result, we’ve seen our support erode. Urban centers remain under Democratic control. Exurbs and rural areas remain under Republican dominance. But in the battleground that lies between – the suburbs — we were winning them; now we’re not. Our candidates are safe in a swath that extends from North Texas across to North Alabama and up through Appalachia. Elsewhere, we are on the run. Almost every voter who can be convinced – who sometimes votes Democratic, sometimes Republican – now votes Democratic.
We’ve long-since given up on the African-American vote. We’re forfeiting the Hispanic vote with unwarranted and unsavory vitriol against immigrants. Youth vote? Gone. We ask for nothing from these idealistic voters, we offer little except chastisement of their lifestyle choices and denial of global warming, and we are woefully behind the Democrats in learning how to connect with them.
Soccer moms? They’re not comfortable with much of our social policy agenda, so many are gone as well. NASCAR dads? They’re our last redoubt, and the trends even there are not encouraging as unemployment rises and 401 (k)s are decimated. They want clean, competent government that meets basic challenges. They don’t see tax cuts or stimulus checks that net them another $500 per year as meaningful, and they are not comfortable with the profligate deficits that result. As one veteran Republican campaign professional told pollster Charlie Cook: Voting for tax increases hurts politically much more than voting for tax cuts helps.
So what do we do? First, we eliminate checklists and litmus tests and focus on broad principles, not heavy-handed prescriptions. Free trade. Strong defense – at home and abroad. Government as small as is practicable in these times. Economic, education and energy policies that promote growth, energy independence and a competitive agenda that will allow businesses to grow and compete, not be protected by artificial barriers.
That’s it. Believe anything else you want, but advocate for those things outside the structure of the party.
Second, remind ourselves the first principle of conservatism is not tax cuts or free trade or even smaller government. It is prudence, and prudence should be our guide.
Prudence dictates we take seriously the concerns of those who elect us and tailor our policy proposals to counter the government-mandate-heavy ideas bound to emerge from the other side.
Americans want something done about the 43 million of us who lack health care. The question is not: Should government care? It must. The question is: Do we get a top-down, Washington-knows-best, one-size-fits-all “solution” or a Massachusetts-style program that preserves choice for patients and discretion for doctors?
Prudence dictates we build on the No Child Left Behind Act and get serious about education reform. Americans demand top-notch schools, and it is our constitutional duty to ensure this happens. Yes, constitutional. We’ve reached an age where we can’t, in practice, provide for the common defense or compete economically without an educated citizenry. We should maximize local control … so long as local control is working. We need to measure, and we need to see that failure is addressed. Remember, it’s about the students, not the institutions.
Prudence dictates we pursue energy independence on all fronts. It is our key to a secure future and our bulwark against the price swings we’ve endured in recent years. Moreover, our views enjoy broad support, and we should press the advantage. Americans support drilling offshore and in areas of oil-rich Alaska now deemed off-limits, because they know we can do it safely. They know, with 250 million cars on our roads, that fossil fuels – oil, coal, natural gas – represent at least part of our energy solution. They also know we can’t continue to depend on dysfunctional countries for our energy supply. They know we can conserve more, do more to develop alternative fuels, including nuclear, and adapt smarter policies to get the most from our potential. We were on the right track with this in the 110th Congress, and we should press forward.
The energy legislation we’ll see in the next Congress will give Republicans a great opportunity to draw bright lines between our policies, which promote growth, innovation, prosperity and choice, and Democrats’ policies, which promote regulation and top-down government dictates and invariably reduce the quality of life. We must remind voters that making energy plentiful and affordable remains the best thing governments can do for the environment.
What we can’t do is go back. I’ve heard much talk of going back to our conservative roots, to the issues that helped us win in 1980 and 1994. That issue matrix has changed so much as to be nearly unrecognizable now. The voters who dealt us our electoral disasters in 2006 and 2008 did so because they thought we were all too true to our roots. That we were exclusive, favored rich over poor, and didn’t care sufficiently for the plight of the little person.
Also, I suspect this call to return to our “roots” really is a call to do nothing. And doing nothing, I hope Republicans will agree, is not an option.
We need to talk less about the size of government and more about its efficiency. Voters want action on the issues that affect them most: energy, security, education, transportation and health care. We need to show these issues can be tackled without creating huge government bureaucracies or necessitating growth-killing tax hikes.
We also need to stop talking about how much we hate government if we expect people to elect us to run it. Perfecting it, reducing it to its ideal size, having it accomplish what we need with minimal resources requires that we embrace it and study it and work hard at it.
Also, as Newt Gingrich has pointed out, we need to remember that every election is important and that it’s important we field good candidates in every race. Eight years ago, we found out it mattered a great deal who the Secretary of State in Florida was. We need to find new leaders and nurture them and re-invest in the organizational infrastructure we need to build our base of volunteers and, again, have the best get-out-the-vote effort.
All is not lost. Even today, significantly more voters identify themselves as conservatives than liberals. They want us to succeed, and they don’t want to return to a society of handouts and big government. But we won’t get there by waiting for the Democrats to fumble the ball. We won’t get there by trying to divine what Ronald Reagan would do in any given situation. We can get there, though, if we stop the infighting and show we have a better way.
The party with the best, freshest ideas always wins. That can be us – that needs to be us – once again.

No Sharon, what I am saying is you weren’t there. Why not leave the judging of the situation to the medical professionals who actually were there? Just like those in the media, you don’t have all the facts so you are in no position to judge.
I’m not questioning your medical credentials, but given the fact that the media irresponsibly reported many falsehoods about Sarah Palin, her baby and her delivery, maybe, just maybe, the information you have is not so solid.

Sorry – I did not mean to insinuate Trig was not Sarah’s. Just was attempting to say I was shocked rumors were still posted here. Then said I could have cared less if Trig wasn’t. You are quite correct regarding your facts. Smile- Bristol can not be Trig’s mother as claimed. FYI – I never fell for these blogger rumors anyway.

FS – It’s Palin’s fault that the media ran stories based on lies started by bloggers (and yes, they did – google “Grandmagate” all the major networks reported it – even CNN)?
Palin’s criticism is leveled at the media that reported lies as fiction, and those that continue to try to prove those lies – such as the Anchorage Daily News. She has an obligation to set the record straight – these are children (and teens) the media is lying about. I may not agree with Palin politically, but I understand her desire to set the record straight and hold the media accountable.
As for criticism from those in her party – to me, it seems she doesn’t have a problem with that. Her problem seems to be with the media reporting fiction as fact.
By the way, if I were to tell a lie about you, would that somehow be your fault? Perhaps you gave me a reason not to like you, so I’m justified in starting the lie, blogging about it and convincing the mainstream media that my lie is true – they don’t need to bother to check the facts because of course, blogger 123 is credible. As an avid newspaper reader, if you read that blogger123 is a source in any story, do you take it seriously?
Read through some of these comments on this message board – it’s obvious that people believed incorrectly reported news stories about Palin, Trig, Trig’s delivery, Bristol’s pregnancy and others. These people refuse to believe the true, corrected versions of the story and use the falsehoods as the basis for not liking Palin’s politics.

Thinking about it- When you drop out of high school you are considered a high school drop out even though you do get GED. Yes a high school diploma and a GED are equivalent from an educational perspective but the bottom line is you dropped out of high school. So I don’t see where the media stated anything but the truth regarding that issue.

The post about your concern for baby Trig’s health is ridiculous. Ridiculous because you just voted for a man who has 2 times voted against the Infant Born Alive Act (the only sitting senator to do so by the way).
Barry felt it was against the mother’s wishes to give medical treatment to a baby born alive after a botched abortion, regardless if the baby could survive on its own outside the womb.
In addition, he said “it would often inconvenience the doctor”.
Even nurses’ testimonies of taking babies still ALIVE to the lay and die amongst the dead babies corpses did not sway his vote.
Palin knew Trigg was going to have down syndrome. She chose not to abort him. She seems to me to be an exceptional mother.
Please don’t throw your compassion for babies around only when it fits your cause.

When it comes to the rumors about Trig being Bristol’s baby, all the press did was repeat what the McCain camp said.
According to Media Matters:
Contrary to Palin’s telling, most media outlets only addressed that story after the McCain campaign called attention to it on September 1, when it revealed that Palin’s unwed 17-year-old daughter, Bristol, was pregnant. The campaign insisted it had to go public with the news in order to deflect the “disturbing, nasty smears” being spread online.
Only after Republicans threw a spotlight onto the online conspiracy theory did the press make references to it. And once the McCain campaign claimed liberal bloggers had spread the rumor, the press dutifully repeated the claim -
[Bristol] is pregnant — a revelation the Alaska governor made public yesterday to refute rumors spread by liberal bloggers that she’d faked her own pregnancy to cover up for her daughter’s earlier one. (New York Post)
The 17-year-old daughter of Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin is pregnant, Palin said on Monday in an announcement intended to knock down rumors by liberal bloggers that Palin faked her own pregnancy to cover up for her child. (Reuters)
The announcement came after a swirl of rumors by liberal bloggers that the governor’s fifth child, who was born in April, was in fact her daughter’s. (The New York Times)

Thinking about it: I’ll bite. I just googled “grandmagate” (286 hits) and “grandma gate” (381 hits) Unfortunately, I’m only seeing references to various blogs and not credible media as you suggest. Nothing is coming up under “news.” But, here is a point. I do think it is the responsibilty of traditional media to investigate these blogs and determine merit. After all, there is a remote chance of a substantive story. Remember–that’s how Matt Drudge became famous.
If one is pre-disposed in believeing something disparaging about someone, or thing, then one will believe it no matter what evidence is placed in front of them a la this “Michelle Obama lobster dinner” untruth. (…and what’s wrong with a lobster dinner if you can afford it anyway?)
Governor Palin has no need to “set the record straight.” However, she is being called to the floor because her political positions are contrary to the way she actually conducts herself. For example: To say that the young people have not “dropped out” of high school is a convoluted view of what is actually true. High School is in session! Are they, or are they not attending? If not, they have “dropped out” of the traditional education path. It remains to be seen if they achieve their GED’s (I so hope they do and continue on!)
But, again, this is just noise. Palin refuses to accept responsibility for her own inadequacies and I would very much disagree with you that she does not have a problem with criticisms from her own party. She is lambasting her handlers, how the campaign was ran, et alia.
Its everyone’s fault EXCEPT Sarah’s.

*shrugs* There is nothing whatsoever *great* about Palin’s Governorship. When it comes to Alaska, Popeye could be a swell Governor.
Alaska is the one state that’s in the money because of its oil, so no worries there. Palin did put some urgency behind that gas pipeline project, but still hasn’t got anywhere with the oil companies who are supposed to fill that pipeline.
As long as she does absolutely nothing Alaska will hum along just fine and she can loudmouth about everything she “brought to the table”.
This is the same Palin who made a dogs breakfast of Wichita’s sports center (they’re still suing over it), and who was exposed by the “liberal media elite” as a total nitwit.
So why not forget about this blabbermouth until she forces herself into the public spotlight again? She’s got 4 whole years for a policy 101. Perhaps she’ll use it.

Governor Palin will make a great president in 2012. I don’t agree with her every issue but she seems to be very effective. I like that she has a countdown clock in her office to remind her to make every second count. She is one of those high energy people who has the personal charisma to lead.
I also hate the way she is constantly attacked. If all the Democrats have to offer is attacks on Governor Palin then they are not fit to lead. Where are the solutions to the problems our nation faces?

One of Sarah Palin’s most memorable gaffes occurred during the Charlie Gibson interview. While discussing the Georgian conflict, Sarah brought up the close proximity of Alaska to Russia. Charlie asked what insight into Russian actions the proximity of Alaska gives her. Apparently thinking insight meant ‘in sight,’ Sarah replied “They’re our next door neighbors and you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska…” LOL
But now, in the Esquire interview, Sarah attempts to rewrite history (again). She claims her comment was taken out of context. Don’t even go there, Sarah; the context is what makes the comment so hilarious! Furthermore, she says we “have to let it go.” Sorry, Sarah, ‘You can see Russia’ is one bell that’s way too big to be un-rung.

What is that rancid smell: You are hogwash! Calling Bristol Palin a slut is completely uncalled for and out of line! If you could I would dare you to walk up to Todd or Levi and call her that! You wouldn’t have the guts! If you did someone would have to call 911 and tell the paramedics to come and scrape you up off the floor! And another thing, it is nobody’s business, not even yours, who Trig actually belongs to! If you had a brain in your head, though. you’d know that it’s physically immpossible to have a baby on April 19th and have another full term baby only eight months and 10 days later! You need to learn to count! Even if Bristol had gotten pregnant immediately after giving birth to Trig, the baby would not have been due until the last of January! Since Tripp was born on December 29 and was a full term 7 pound baby there is no way Trig could be her child!

Gov. Palin said that the Couric interview did not go well the first day. If it was up to her she would not have gone back for more. SHE knew she was in over her head on the first day of the interview. She stated that she did not watch the final product. Why? BECAUSE SHE KNEW HER PERFORMANCE WAS HORRIBLE BEFORE IT EVER HIT THE AIR!!! Don’t give me some bull about the editing. If Gov. Palin had given a BRILLIANT interview, it would not have mattered how they edited. Her brillance would have shown through NO MATTER what part would have aired. She needs to keep quiet, STUDY, and come back like a serious contender. Not some whinny poor loser.

How can Sarah learn from her mistakes if she refuses to even recognize them?
Katie Couric gave Sarah a second chance to explain her ‘You can see Russia from Alaska” remark. Instead of having learned from her mistake and giving Katie a coherent answer, Sarah gave the same stupid reply. Then she blamed the media (Sound familiar?) for the mocking she got.
PALIN: That Alaska has a very narrow maritime border between a foreign country, Russia, and on our other side, the land, uh, boundary that we have with, uh, Canada. It, it, it’s funny that a comment like that was, uh, kind of made to, um, cari-, uh, I don’t know, you know. Reporters!
Katie Couric gave Sarah a THIRD chance to correct herself.
COURIC: Explain to me why that enhances your foreign policy credentials.
PALIN: Well, it certainly does because our, our next door neighbors are foreign countries. There in the state that I am the executive of. And there in Russia—
Sarah never learns. She just digs herself into deeper and deeper holes.

Many other interviews later in the campaign and the debate with Biden went well.
Only some parts of the Couric interview went bad.
But you can judge someone only because some parts of one interview went bad.
Obama and Biden also made mistake; but the media were silent about this mistakes.
And still this is what happened.
The bad part of that Couric interview were enlarge 1000x times and showed almost every day and the media deliberately took no attention to the interviews and the debate that went well.
And so the media created a distorted image of Palin.

You Palinites are an interesting group. On numerous postings here you have noted that “next time” Sarah Palin will be “better prepared”, she will be “better versed” in foreign policy etc. Well, I guess you are admitting that at present, she is inept and uninformed. Therefore she was NOT ready for the high office she sought. I’ll accept that from you folks. So, I guess we have some common agreement?
Given the problems of our country, it is just unconscionable that the Republican honchos put forth such an inept candidate (and I don’t blame HoneyCakes for this–she is on her own narcissistic wave and is who she is) But, as Americans don’t you think it is high time we put aside party politics and put our country first?
There is nothing wrong with being pretty. There is nothing wrong with the “girl next door.” There is nothing wrong with winks, accents, dropping your “g’s” “t’s” and such. What is wrong is when one does not comprehend the magnitude of the high office that they seek and only view it as another election…. just another race to be won. Its time to step away from the television folks; the “q” ratings, popularity et alia AND begin electing leaders who are intelligent, capable, and informed.

From a candidate questionnaire:
Are you offended by the phrase “Under God” in the Pledge of Allegiance? Why or why not?
PALIN: Not on your life. If it was good enough for the founding fathers, its good enough for me and I’ll fight in defense of our Pledge of Allegiance.
Did she not express herself clearly or does she really believe the founding fathers wrote the Pledge of Allegiance and put the God in it too?

We’re as scared of Palin as we are of Joe The Tax Evader, Ken “Porn” Starr, Linda Tripp, Newtie Gingrich, Bobby Livingston, Dan “Melon Boy” Burton, Tom “Exterminator” Delay……
Your gig is up dittoheads, you need new material!

I really can’t blame Governor Palin for being angry at all the “yellow journalism” being printed about her family. The lies about her family go way too far America. Grow up Media and report the news not gossip lies! If you are a news reporter who cannot report the truth then PLEASE go work for the National Enquirer.

If Obama and Biden were more like Sarah Palin….
“57 states in the USA? That remark was taken out of context! The salacious mainstream media is always picking on me! It’s a classic case of classism! How dare they put me under a microscope like this! They need to let this go!” – Barack Obama
“JOBS is a 3 letter word?”
“Roosevelt came on television in 1929 and told Americans to be calm about the crash?”
“Bosniac?”
“You want to see how middle class I am? Go down to katie’s restaurant?”
“Hillary is more qualified then I am, she would have been a better choice?”
“I don’t think those were all my EXACT quotes, but even if they are, they were taken out of context and mocked by the nasty mainstream media. They are always exploiting me!” – Joe Biden

dfesta, what lies are you talking about and what media outlets have reported them? Please be specific.
Posted by: Rudy | January 15, 2009, 11:54 am 11:54 am
I am talking about the personal attacks on Governor Palin in regards to her son Trig as this particular article points out. Many people on this blog really are very low class individuals and I make this statement based on their ridiculous comments.
Posted by: dfesta | January 15, 2009, 12:05 pm 12:05 pm
dfesta, you said the media were reporting lies. The people on this blog are not the media.
Posted by: Rudy | January 15, 2009, 12:18 pm 12:18 pm
I never claimed the people on this blog were the media, God help us if that were the case. Only that the news media selectively reports issues that are negative or somewhat half-truths. For example this article gives Governor Palins letter to the editor of the ADN however it does not show the response from the editor of the ADN. ABC news could have printed the entire article which would have explained the Governors concerns.

The entire email exchange is rather long so this blog provides a link to it right in that section’s heading.

Why isn’t she concerned with the suffering of the rural Alaskans instead of herself? Good governor? Next president? Your palinites are blind and deaf. She should be impeached.

Everyone is taking pot shots at Palin. Get over it..She has alot more on the ball than most other people..As for Barney Frank..He is noting more than a lying disgusting thug.
The bias in the media is one of the most frustrating elements of society today. Please just present the facts and let us all use our own value system to come to our own conclusion: left, right, moderate, or otherwise.

I’m thoroughly disgusted with all of the name-calling and character assassination regardless of who does it. However, the truth is, as it has been studied and verified by the unbiased Pew Foundation, that the main source of all of the hatred and lies and character assassination has been by the far left leaning media. It becomes nothing less than propaganda which unthinking and illiterate people accept as truth (that was Goebbels’ and Hitler’s invention) and repeat it.
Posted by: David | January 15, 2009, 2:17 pm 2:17 pm
Leftist bias in the media is pretty widely accepted at this point.
Furthermore, it is also commonplace for yuppies from the urban and suburban areas of the country to disparage those that come from more rural areas.
Palin had no chance with the typical leftist soccer mom that inhabits the wealthy suburbs of Northern Virginia, New Jersey, or, anywhere – really.
This is a nation truly polarized. Left and Right. Urban and rural. Rich and poor.
A nation divided cannot stand. We are on the road to civil strife.

The brain is like a computer… garbage in, garbage out.
To watch and listen to some comedic nitwit make fun of and disparage someone else is nothing but “garbage in”. The best entertainers never do it… if they make fun of anyone it is themselves.

All said, Palin and her family were bashed and trashed.
After her nomination Democratic ambulance chasers filled Alaska motels. That was to be expected of course, reminiscent of Florida a few years back.
Was the news media biased?
They admitted they were on national television after the election. What’s to prove, they confessed voluntarily.
Palin may be plain spoken but none the less successful and this writer would happily trade our Govenor with Alaska.

The media has no sense of fair play. If the candidate was a liberal the media would turn their head. The media hates conservatives and will go to any length to undermind a conservative. I am so glad newpapers are in decline, now we have to deal with the liberal tv anchors. I wonder what ever happen to fair play.

I did not vote for the Republican ticket this year, but am nonetheless revolted by standards of journalism not far above those of Pravda or the Volkische Beobachter and sometimes almost as crudely obvious

Sara Palin is hated by the far left and vilified by the bloggers/journalists for several reasons.
The entire feminist movement is a bunch of bologna. Feminazis do not stand for women’s rights, they stand for LIBERAL women’s rights. Any woman that is powerful and conservative becomes public enemy # 1.
The fact that Sara Palin is pro-life is enough to make any feminazi’s head spin. Combine that with her happy marriage, good looks and Christian faith and you know she was going to receive worse treatment then even the Holocaust denying Ahkmadenijead received at columbia college.
Perfect example of this is the treatment that the blundering idiot Biden got from the mainstream media. That guy said more ludacris things on any given day then Palin did in a month.
However, we never really heard about those hilarious comments because he was pro-choice and thus, protected from scrutiny. Even sat nite live worships the ground that abortion advocates walk on, which is why tina fey is now a superstar.

Rigtwingers are hateful bigots? What are you talking about?
Wasn’t it your party who was founded to ensure the survival of slavery? Only when the republicans whooped your democratic butts did slavery see an end in this country.
Wasn’t it your party that was overflowing with segregationists and KKK members only 50 years ago? (Wallace, Byrd, ect).
Finding an “open minded” liberal is about as easy to find as a patriotic liberal.

If America elects Palin or anyone else of her intelligence level, we will deserve whatever comes our way. Did anyone notice she could not even accurately express Alaska’s petroleum production? She overstated it by a factor of six, yet she was portrayed as an energy expert. If we elect her we are dumb.

Look up the word “moron” in the dictionary and you won’t find a picture of Sarah – it will be her communications director, Bill McAllister. “It was a complete surprise to us,” he said of the reaction to Sarah’s latest video. “It was not the governor’s intention to be in the national news on these subjects now. Absolutely not.”
Yeah, and monkeys might fly out my… But what WAS the governor’s intention then?

We just elected an anti-American, racist, socialist to the United States presidency. Believe me, in 4 years time the American people will be screaming for a Romney or a Palin.
Have any of you obamabots noticed how excited the stock market has been about BO’s presidency? It has been THE WORST SELL-OFF the market has experienced post election in history, but you don’t see them discussing that on msnbc, cnn, abc, do you?
They are too busy congratulating themselves over their mission accomplished with the election of BO.

That bastion of truth, Sarah Palin, wrote in an especially sarcastic email to the Anchorage Daily News “Please, say it ain’t so: did you really allow a story to run in your paper today claiming Levi Johnston is a high school drop out? Did I read that right?”
Damn straight they did. Levi is a former Wasilla High hockey player, not a current one. That’s because, drum roll please, HE DROPPED OUT.
