Caroline Kennedy Withdraws to ‘Put Family First’
A source insists that the "private matter" that caused Caroline Kennedy to withdraw from Senate consideration is NOT related to her uncle, Sen. Ted Kennedy’s health.
It is a "very private family matter" that came to light this week, after Sunday, a source tells me.
Caroline felt that New York Gov. Paterson was prepared to offer her the Senate seat, but this family matter made it clear to her that she had to "be at home, instead of in the Senate."
Caroline called the Governor late yesterday afternoon to withdraw. He asked her to reconsider. After more thought last night, she decided to "put family first."

It was a surprise to everyone when she expressed a sudden interest in public office and not it again is a surprise that she abruptly abandoned that endeavor. Who knows or cares what the reasons are, she has been a private person for years, and she is entitled to that privacy, this office would have changed that privacy access forever and I assume after some consideration it was just to much for her… would be for me and millions of others.

Nanny is illegal alien or paid cash off the books and without unemployment insurance? what? Tax dodges? Certainly NOT “HER Nanny’s ” family first.
Marriage issue? She should have never stepped into the light of day with the political dreams of bygone days.
The Dems already have one tax scofflaw about to run treasury. Having a senator with that problem is too much just now.

Other than being the offspring of JFK, what qualifications did Caroline have? Oh yeah, she supported Obama. Other than that, she has NO qualifications to be a Senator. None, nada, zilch. We are supposed to feel bad for her? We are supposed to fall to our knees before a Kennedy? She was only even being considered because of her family name not because of her experience or qualifications. The hypocrisy of the left really knows no bounds. How about picking someone well qualified no matter what political party they represent? Can’t have that. Only true believers in Obama need to apply.

Stephanopolous is, in the news industry, what is known as a Ken Doll. He was chosen, because he looks pretty while at the same time serious, but he brings absolutely nothing to the plate as a journalist. I mean, c’mon, this guy worked inside Washington and the best that he can do is relay the nonsensical “she needed to be home with her family” excuse? It was obvious to everyone that Kennedy really wanted this Senate seat and more than one insider said that she had it in the bag (though other insiders say the opposite). The NY Times, not known for being conservative, is reporting that tax issues, including a particular household employee, were what really de-railed the nomination. I wonder how it is that Stephanopolous couldn’t find any sources — doesn’t he know anyone?

For being so well connected, I am surprised that George S. did not know the real reason: nanny-gate and taxes. (Of course, the latter issue has not derailed our new SecTreas.)
Again, the question has to be asked: why don’t the rich just pay social security for their help? Why don’t they go through legitimate agency providing nanny, maid, butler services? Is this how the rich stay rich? Or can they not pay social security taxes for their help because the help are illegal aliens. Lots of avenues to explore for real journalists, not just news readers.

What are you talking about. Every single rock in Obama’s yard was turned over (pick the low fruit cocaine joke in that, of course). Where was your party in the vetting process? That’s who keeps candidates honest…the competition. If you have issues with the vetting of Obama, talk to your party leadership. But the truth of the matter is that there just wasn’t anything substantial there. Which is why we’re still hearing the lunatic fringe go on and on about a birth certificate and Rev. whoever.

People who are under 55 don’t get it. They don’t realize what the Kennedys meant to this country and the unique role that Caroline herself has played in the hearts of us all. Their big comment is “Who is she, anyway? Who does she think she is” The ignorance of youth astounds me. Caroline is a very honest, diligent, hardworking and honest New Yorker with impeccable pedigree, who would add class to the NYS Senate. She wound’t be in politics to get rich like Hillary Clinton and others. She’s got more money than all of us put together. Her “thing” is public service. It would have made her uncle so proud that she was carrying on the tradition of the Kennedy’s…that when one is fallen, the next one continues on. He would have died a happy man, seeing Caroline ascend to the Senate in the family tradition. Caroline would have done us proud. Maybe she has too much class for this profane age whose big idea of a good time is the porn channel. How dreary of all of you who “don’t get it”…and I include Patterson in that bunch. She’s too classy for most folks, alas. And as a sidebar, you’d better bet your bottom dollar that the Clintons were the ones who sent the word out to destroy Caroline’s reputation and chances to sit in Hillary’s chair in the Senate. She loathes poor Caroline because she supported Obama. And the Clintons are very bad people who take revenge to new lows. I’m sure it will come out that the Clintons sent their minions to destroy Caroline. Prediction: You haven’t heard the last of Caroline. Maybe she’ll sit it out for two years and make a comeback. To have the daughter of JFK and Jackie O as my Senator trips my light fantastic and is a surreal bounty for this Baby Boomer who was lucky enough to experience the real Sixties, not the black and white videos you see on t.v. that had nothing to do with that incredible magic time. It was marvelous, beyond description and the Kennedys led the way. Maybe they will again.

He asked her to reconsider.” Nice touch… Its about as believable as a $3 bill.

Again, Snarky… you may begin where you please the facts remain the white men have run this country into ground for thier greed…. so you think Freddie Mack and Fannie Mae has caused all this slow down? The white man clinton and the white man bush had plenty to do with it. I guess all of the taxs breaks for the rich could not keep up a float or the trillions of dollars we are spending in Iraq.
You think a black man making a 100 million dollars cause the problem? whats worse the 100 million or the 50 billion white man Bernard Madoff stole?

My family first moved to this country as part of the immigration wave of the 1880′s through the turn of the last century, NEVER owned slaves, and NEVER denied ANY person ANYTHING on account of their race, cred, color, or national origin (For the record, my parents were and are clergy who were fully supportive of racial integration and were disgusted by the racism they viewed on a regular basis growing up).
Just because we truly judge people by the content of their character and don’t believe in preferences EITHER WAY on the basis of race, creed, color, or national origin does not make us lemmings marching to the sea to unabashed governmental takeovers of our freedoms and liberties just because the person leading the march happens to be of a certain race, creed, gender, or color.

Sure…..just circle the wagons. The fact is that Mrs. Schlossberg was STUNNINGLY UNQUALIFIED for the seat, and most New Yorkers recognized that. The fact that she was even being considered was an insult to the state. But now, if she stills feels she’s qualified to RUN AND COMPETE FOR THE SEAT, rather than being entitled to have it handed to her, she may certainly do so in 2 years, and mount a primary challenge to the incumbent. Wanna Bet?

The long and short of it is that America chose a 1/2 black man as our president. Hopefully, he will do a fine job. This ends any excuses that blacks have in this country for not being able to “make it” here due to prejudice. The playing field is leveled and anyone who has what it takes can achieve anything they aspire to. How refreshing. So, no more Jesse and no more Al.

Ahh, Good on ya, lad. You’re finally starting to get with the dialogue. But let’s go back in the way back machine to “Amistad”. Now, as you recall in our last episode, “SAYGBE”, or “Cinquez” as the slavers called him, led an uprising of the slaves which actually caused a lot of hard feelings among a lot of people. BUT, the real surprise here is that “Cinquez”, AKA “Cinque” akshully became a slave owner his own self when he learned there was a pretty penny to be turned in the business. But Wait, you say. Was Cinquez a black man? Why yass, little Jimmy. He was. Just a footnote in history to show that we can’t always paint everyone with the same shoebrush. Who needed laws to stop them from mistreating another race? Why, I suppose the same could be said of the ragheads in Darfur, but since it’s not politically correct to blame ragheads for anything we may have to pass. What you need to do, my man, is expand your vision of how people treat others all OVER the world. And who has stole and killed in every country they have step foot in? Why that could be the black boys as well as the white boys, couldn’t it? As for equal protection under the law, why is it, do you suppose? that blacks are ersponsible for over 50% of violent crime in this country alone, as well as the highest educational drop out rate, illiteracy rate, juvenile pregnancy rate, illegitimate birth rate, well, I could go on, but you get the picture. You folks were just starting to get it together when the RATs came along and put you on THEIR plantation by offering you a free ride. As it turned out it was a one way trip to the poor house and it wasn’t even free. Now. Your turn, happy.

Mr. Stephanopoulos, it simply isn’t credible to report that Caroline withdrew to put family first. For example, if that assertion is accurate, it just reinforces how woefully unqualified she was to seek the appointment in the first place. Beyond that point, there were too many power brokers and party insiders pulling for her, both publicly and privately, for her to walk away from the seat. Instead, it appears that she wanted the seat, but not the hassle and scrutiny that accompanied it. You can guess with some reasonable accuracy that her claim to the seat was becoming increasingly tenuous, as more people contemplated the implications of her horrible media performances, refusals to divulge the kinds of information a candidate would have had to divulge, etc. Either that, or she had legal/marital/tax problems (take your pick) that would complicate her appointment. Your article doesn’t even try to reconcile the 800-lb question mark standing in the corner of the room. Frankly, your article reads like a press release from Caroline’s camp.

I suspect it has to do with some kind of tax issue. Her relationship with the Berg Man supposedly also hasn’t been great.
Give it to Cuomo. It’s better this way.

Come on George, you must be a friend of the Kennedy’s to publish this crap without the other side of the story:
‘but this family matter made it clear to her that she had to “be at home, instead of in the Senate.”‘
Yes she had to be home with her illegal housekeeper and her tax lawyer to keep her out of court! (Now we know why she wouldn’t reveal financial records while working for the NYC schools, or during this process.)
And stop saying the job was hers–the Post and the Daily News say it wasn’t and the Times has conflicting versions. The tax and housekeeper problem made her politically untouchable–if she wasn’t already due to her bumbling performance; inexperience and aloofness.
I say go back to your worthy charity work Caroline–which is entirely noble–and forget about public life for which you are wholly unsuited.
And George try being a JOURNALIST instead of a sycophant–you might like it.

… you think because some white folks went into a booth and pulled a lever for a democrat black man – all is good. what about the other 47%…
grant it.. things have improved but by no means has prejudice and racism went away. just like the civl rights laws did not stop your parents and grandparents from continuing to do thier hateful deeds…
my original point – white folks are quick to judge as if they are the saints of this country or world. but the facts state that everywhere they have gone death and greed has taken place.

There have been so many conflicting reports, there is no way for me to tell which is true.
What I do know is this (and I am a life-long democrat) – Caroline Kennedy did not deserve this job. If it were not for her name, we wouldn’t even be talking about her. And the entire way this has been handled just underscores why she should have never been considered. The multiple stories, the “personal reasons”, etc. If you want to be a senator, “personal reasons” is a flimsy excuse.
If she really wants to be an elected official, then she should mount a campaign and run for office and let the people decide. This whole debacle seemed like one big gimme game. “Make me senator because I’m a Kennedy, and if you’re handing out titles of Senator, then I certainly deserve one because of who I am.” Then, “Oh, if I’m not going to get it, then I’m dropping out, because 1-my uncle Teddy is sick, 2-I am no longer interested – No, I’m back in, I want it – No, I’m out because of personal reasons.”
Give me a break.

We used to be seperated by oceans and strong immigration laws. That has changed. We were attacked on 9/11 (incl black people)by a radical fundamentalist group supported by ME govnmnts. We finally got a leader with the balls to do something about it. He told us on the front end this would be a long battle and war because we were fighting for hearts and minds. This war is over our security. No attacks since 9/11 here. That includes your family. That includes your family of Americans. Not just black or white or the mellow yellow. whatever? The attacks in Africa are not the same either. Don’t try to compare the two.

Never was qualified, dumb as dirt on the issues and only thinking of herself – or is that the job description for being in the Senate? Let’s spend Trillions to start and build up the government programs and have only 7% of it actually going into the stimulation of the economy this year – a sure recipe for disaster, but then, these good folks probably don’t know how to read a recipe either – they have illegal under the table help at home doing that job. Rip-The level playing field was there all along. You were just made to believe it wasn’t. There are plenty of successful black men to prove it. Nothing is true today that wasn’t true a week ago. You will only hold yourself down when you think someone else had an unfair advantage and thats why they succeeded. That thought leads to failure because you have the built in excuse to allow yourself to fail. When you take that excuse away, you will find that you are responsible for yourself and you have to make the tough choice to do something about it.

I had black people to take out their frustrations on me I guess because I represented the white man. I had black people to befriend me because they saw the way they treated me as bad. I had white people to look down on me because I was poor. I had white people to teach me to lift my head. Ultimately, I had to look into myself and get right with me and realize I was responsible for me and no one else was going to help me.

As usual with this sanctimonious finger pointing crowd, “there are rules for me, and then there are the rules I make for you.” CHANGE, CHANGE, CHANGE!!! Don’t cry, Stephy.

But if a repub took a penny piece of bubble gum 40 years ago you in the media elite would hound them till they resigned and you all would not take “sorry” for an answer unlike with the democrats you so love. Hmm?

This is the most pathetic comment I think I have ever seen. No one in their right mind believes that she has withdrawn becusae “she is putting her family first”. How could George Stephanopoulos even be given a job as a journalist…. It is so pathetic that he is allowed to parade as an objective individual. If you want to be partisan get a talk show or be one side of a debate show, but don’t host a show as some “mediator” when that isn’t that case. That water you are carrying has to be the heaviest in histor George…..

JKF himself was a bum who left hundreds to die at the Bay of Pigs. Honorable men died too. He abandoned them. She is out because of affairs, tax cheating and illegal alien housekeepers. SOunds like the fruit hasn’t fallen far from the tree. America needs to wake up..the Kennedy fortune was made on illegal alcohol…..and it’s just a manipulative family with no real contributions. Best she retire her and any other oaf in the family. They have very little honor. Good riddance.

As a native New Yorker I can tell you noone in the circles I travel wanted her to be our senator.
The Kennedy’s should all go back to Massachusetts.
To compare this woman to Sarah Palin is just ridiculous. Sarah is the Governor of a State for petes sake. Caroline is just a Kennedy.
Great job Patterson. :)

Two thoughts: 1) Now that Ms. Kennedy is about to experience the losing end of her first political pissing match, I’m hoping she uses the experience wisely. My primary objection to her candidacy wasn’t the Kennedy name. It was the fact that she expected to waltz into the No. 2 or 3 political job in the state without showing herself tough enough to hold the office. Say what you will about Hillary, but the lady can definitely take a punch.
2) I know sometimes you gotta grease your sources, George, but c’mon… “put family first?” I think the latest version of Microsoft Word can kill lame quotes like that in spellcheck.

Mr. Stephanopoulos was it you that Jake Tapper was speaking of on Charlie Rose when he said there were those who did their work on their knees and Mr. Tapper was someone who did his journalism on his feet?
Your exhibition of “party line” with the Mrs. Schlossberg, sorry do not have the spelling as she somehow lost her name and became a Kennedy when grabbing for the brass ring, is equal to the political rape you took part in party line concerning Gov. Sarah Palin.
Mrs. Schlossberg is qualified to be New York Senator as she is of age, an American and not a convicted felon. The GOP should have pushed for her as she would have been defeated easily in the next election. She though like her mother, Jackie, was only prepared for staged performances, which was unlike the wit of Jack Kennedy and the banter of John John.
Is Barack Obama now such a boring old doll that ABC has to care about the soap opera of a Kennedy again?
There are a host of other people Mr. Stephanopoulos who should be profiled for this New York Senate seat. Why has not Ed Koch been vetted?
Try journalism sometime Mr. Stephanopoulos instead of “close sources” gossiping about Mrs. Schlossberg. New York requires a Senator, but then will probably get a Cuomo dynasty.
Happy Days are here again for you George.
PS: What was the bottom line here? That George Stephanopoulos posted gossip about something without factual details.
ABC will you hire all the bloggers here too.

What’s the big deal—-it’s not like Caroline is selling steel to Nazi Germany so they can build a war machine to conquer the world, or bottlegging during prohibition, or mansluaghtering a young lady with a car/bridge, or rape a young lady in Palm Beach, or killing a young lady neighbor—-OH! My bad—that was other Kennedy’s.

when people have an opportunity darn near given to them, ( not unlike the Kennedy bootleg money ), the only reason they bow out is: shes having an affair, her husband is having an affair, the housekeeper her Mamma employed that works for her is an illegal, her money is offshore and she might have problems w/taxes, or one of her kids is gay. Now there’s a curse. Nevertheless, she’d been exposed. Well, Obama isn’t qualified so, she might have done ok. Mr. george Stephanopolous is just a mouth piece for Clinton. What a homily man

George Stephanopoulos is a BOUGHT and PAID FOR Liberal/Democratic….puppet.
For this MINDLESS MINION, and Clinton “go to the grave keeping the Clinton’s secrets”, he “cried” during Obama’s Inauguration. Well, kudos for Obama as his Election was NOT “change”…but an example of the “changes” that had already taken place….years in the making.
Interesting is that, like ALL the Liberal/Democratic/Communist “place card reader” (aka: TV Journalists), they say “lets not let skin color be a factor” and yet THEY are the ones who “judge” people SOLELY by the color of their skin.
They create laws that make “protected classes”. They put women into the “minority” status when, in fact, the United States Population confirms that MEN are the “minority”. They favor the BLATANT DISCRMINATION of white males, who are DENIED soley because of their skin color and regardless of their “qualifications”, getting into Colleges.
They favor awarding Goverment Contracts to “anyone but white” as well as allocate benefits the same.
George Stephanopoulos could not even find his SPINE to ask Obama a TOUGH QUESTION during his “worshiping sessions”.
I guess when you are only 4 foot 2, and surround yourself with the “rich and powerful”, that is must be “politically correct” to continuously degrade the working men and women of this Country and our (exceptional) Military.
George Stephanopoulos here is a NOVEL idea and that is for you to start admitting your BIAS, and that of 99.9% of your “co-workers”, and start asking Obama (and his Chicago CORRUPT allies) TOUGH QUESTIONS NOW….instead of “piling on” later.
If you don’t then you will continue to be “laughable” and your bias (Liberal/Democrat) will be even more transparent…just like you “camera tears”.
Nuff said.

If Caroline Schlossberg isn’t taking the job she wasn’t offered due to the need to put family first, does this mean that VP Biden wasn’t putting his family first when he worked in the Senate after the tragedy of his wife’s death? How can her party–you know, the party of change who puts all the hated, crooked Clinton folks back in after eight years of blissful exile–celebrate Biden for taking that hour-long train ride from DC to DE (many folks’ commutes are that long) and somehow make sense of Mrs. Schlossberg’s crack at those indecent, non-family Senators?

Cried, George, when Obama was inaugurated?
I cannot tell you how stupid I find that. I can only think of 3 reasons why you would feel that the election of a black President so cathartic. Either:
1. You were full of the same knee-jerk hatred of Bush as your cohorts;
2. You perceive that your support of Obama redeems your personal failings of racial bias; or
3. You seem to think that Obama’s election “cures” all the racial bias that the unwashed, unsophisticated fly-overs have.
Ya know…I’m usually not given to swearing in my sarcastic comments, but this I cannot help:

Hasn’t this clan done enough to this country? We need one LESS Kennedy in the senate, not one more!
Posted by: big mike | January 22, 2009, 11:27 pm 11:27 pm
Everyone knows that J.F.K. stood for:
Just For Kinfolk.
I feel sorry for her. Her intellect is lacking and her education had to be given to her because anyone with a collage degree should be able to express themselves in public a lot better than she did.
Maybe she is a product of affirmative action.

This whole thing was a turd hunt from day one. Nothing more than a shameless power grab from another Kennedy who feels entitled. I’d rather it be someone with a track record. Go run for a spot in the state legislature and earn your way in Caroline.

I think it’s a friggin’ riot. A Kennedy gets caught with her hand in the cookie jar. But still, that’s better than her cousin Michael (cuaght with an underage teen) her cousin Bobby (caught with heroin), and her cousin Patrick (caught with multiple drugs).

If you want to do some public service Caroline, how about wiping the drool off of Uncle Teddy’s face and shirt?
Posted by: The Pistachio Kid | January 22, 2009, 11:41 pm 11:41 pm
It is simply not plausible that Caroline made it into her schools and universities based on merit. Based on her far below average organization skills, speaking skills, and, er, courage, any other pick gets the benefit of the doubt as being a superior Senator pick.
Posted by: Abby B. | January 22, 2009, 11:42 pm 11:42 pm
Aw! No sooner do we find out that Caroline Kennedy is, in fact, more than fully qualified to serve as a Senator representing New York State ( had an affair, is incapable of intelligible or intelligent speech, has no credentials, lies to the press, embarasses her children, etc.), she up and withdraws. Dang! Any other Kennedy whores who can take her place?
Posted by: Tsk Tsk Tsk | January 22, 2009, 11:47 pm 11:47 pm
OMG, I’m sorry. I forgot one very important part of her stellar resume. TAX CHEAT WITH NANNY PROBLEMS!
Yep, too bad she withdrew. Now we’ll have to search the gutters of NYC for someone else to replace Hillary.
Posted by: Tsk Tsk Tsk | January 22, 2009, 11:52 pm 11:52 pm
I feel a sort of guilt for slighting JFK’s family in my previous post. But come on. The existing batch of Congressmen, Greenspan, and Fannie/Freddie dirtbags have used corruption to drive the entire world into the ditch, and The News still treats them with kid gloves. Stephanopoulos, we are hurting out here!
How do Andrea Mitchell, David Gregory, and Barney Frank still have jobs? They have literally slept with the enemy! Of course, they have nothing to do with ABC, but you get my point. Caroline is the machine.
Posted by: Abby B. | January 22, 2009, 11:58 pm 11:58 pm
Hey, how old is Caroline Schlossberg’s kid? 13? I think he might be ready for the Senate as long as he has some kind of qualification- like cheating on a test or something.
Posted by: Tsk Tsk Tsk | January 22, 2009, 11:58 pm 11:58 pm
WHAT!!! You mean the US Senate wont be the House of Lords!
So in the immortal words of that famous tax cheat herself, Leona Helmsley: “only the little people pay taxes”
Posted by: TomS | January 23, 2009, 12:03 am 12:03 am
As another poster said, Caroline does look 61, not 51. She is the spitting image of Eunice Kennedy. EW! John Jr. got his looks from mom’s side of the family. Caroline ended up with the Kennedyesque horse-face, teeth, and brains. Although boyfriend “Pinch” is no looker, and reportedly is as dumb as she is, you still have to wonder what he saw in her? Oh, never mind. I forgot she’s worth millions. Millions earned from her grandfather’s bootlegging and Nazi connections.
Posted by: Tsk Tsk Tsk | January 23, 2009, 12:14 am 12:14 am
Caroline called the Gov to withdraw after he had met with her earlier. I guess not paying your taxes, an affair, and nanny problems would be personal problems. But it is a shame Caroline’s staff lied and used her Uncle Teddy’s health as the initial reason.
Teddy’s inner circle of friends are furious that his brain cancer has been cited by some in Caroline’s camp as the reason for her decision to withdraw her name.

Posted by: bastardcraig | January 23, 2009, 1:11 am 1:11 am
Nothing like a little spin doctoring george. Her inability to speak in complete sentences and use a noun and verb correctly was the personal issue. This episode clearly shows the bias present in mainstream media. The New York Times is going out of business due to their inability to report without a bias. I suspect ABC is next, followed by MSNBC and CBS. Why would anyone believe this drivel? Specious Argument George. Specious.

George is an ass. He’s a dem, he’s been in bed with Clinton. When will this country learn you can’t trust any of those people? Can’t stand any of them. I’m Greek and ashamed that Stephanopolis is too! Idiot.
Posted by: Dea | January 23, 2009, 1:51 am 1:51 am
No one’s buying this “personal reasons” story. And the suggestion (or the mere appearance) that it’s related to her uncle’s sickness, it’s just taking it from bad to worse.
Plenty of folk deal with job rejection and still keep their chin up.
So she’s not cut out for this, no need go after her personally here. Stay classy!

George Stephanopoulos is a disgrace for every reporter on this planet. The guy who was supposed to question the Messiah ended up crying for him.
Pathetic.
Posted by: Mauricio Villablanca | January 23, 2009, 2:50 am 2:50 am
Well now I’m really upset. Caroline Kennedy is now out of the running for the Senate seat, and the media NEVER asked her ANY of the pertinent questions, like:
-What newspapers does she read?
-Does she have a tanning salon in her home?
-Is her teenage daughter pregnant?
-Who purchased her wardrobe?
Unless these hard-hitting, all-important questions are answered, the world will never know what kind of a Senator she might have been.

“…now imagine (cue Matthew McConaughey trembling lip), she’s Sarah Palin.”
Drudge links to the full spectrum of “reporting” and viewpoints. I for one appreciate it. Thanks Drudge! Oh by the way, should I spew hate and grunt before finishing? Is that like, a requirement? God forbid I not meet the expectations of the left.

Since when is having an affair with a Big Jew from the New York times a disqualification for a Dem. in New York?
Posted by: Fred | January 23, 2009, 6:53 am 6:53 am
I must say, George Stephanopolous has mastered the art of taking a deep whiff of political gas passed by a Dem wannabe, and turning to the camera or his keyboard and praising the smell.
Posted by: John | January 23, 2009, 7:22 am 7:22 am
George,
You were worthless as a Clinton adviser (by your own admission (I read your book)) and this feel good piece on the elite just cements the fact.
Perhaps you would make a better “bridge” builder for Obama.

So many amazingly cruel, biting comments… Caroline wanted the spot – as anyone may. The governor saw that she was not as well-qualified as someone else, and chose someone else. Caroline sensed/learned he would, and withdrew, though with embarrassed excuses. Why is everyone so dramatic, and so harsh? The system is working, the governor made his choice, and things are going forward.

Caroline S. may be too “moral” to accept the senate seat.Obama and Hillary need a puppet more in line with their radical mentalities.Caroline is also more “visible” and all attacks from the left require as much stealth as possible. No doubt she would be asked to “support” issues J.K. and R.K. would not have approved of.

Personally, believe she found out that NE (along with Ed and Gail) had goods on her from PI and she saw her life flash before her eyes – a la Kennedy curse. Can’t say that I would blame spurned spouses (nor NE sales potential) at all. Who wants CK and the NYT Pub to make fools out of them? I say take the cheaters to the cleaners and let Ed and Gail make beautiful art together. Looks to me like Ed and Gail should team up in more ways than one. Don’t get mad…GET EVEN!
