Hasselbeck Visits President Bush

ABC News’ Kate Barrett Reports: Elisabeth Hasselbeck of ABC’s "The View" spoke today about her family’s recent trip to the White House to visit President Bush.

The conservative co-host, joined by her husband and former pro football player Tim, and their two children, paid a visit to the Oval Office last Friday. During their time with the president, 3-year-old Grace peered out the window with Bush as they talked about dogs and 14-month-old Taylor characteristically head-butted the commander in chief as a sign of affection.

"That’s the moment right before he clocked the president in the head," Hasselbeck said, showing photos of their visit.
The segment will air on "The View" on Monday, Jan. 19 during the president’s final day in office.

Hasselbeck called the visit "remarkable," describing it as "historic and comfortable in the same moment."

The former "Survivor" contestant also weighed in on how the president has fared during his own challenges while in office.

"It was eye-opening for someone who has even supported him to be in his presence and be able to comfortably talk with him," she said. "He is so not the caricature that we have been fed for so long and he’s a good man. And I hope that people can give credit where credit is due as he exits and this transition happens."

SHE HAS AS MANY BRAINS AS HE DOES THAT IS WHY SHE LIKES HIM SO MUCH.SHE WAS ALSO A PALIN FAN…SHE SHOULD ALSO LEAVE THE VIEW MANY PEOPLE DON’T WATCH JUST BECAUSE OF HER ND I AM ONE OF THEM.

This story was not as important as the as- kicking Ann Colter gave the hags at The View this AM. The five of them did their usual liberal gang up, but Colter is smarter than all them put together.
Hasslebeck should leave the show since they gagged her way back when as she was always on her Rev. Wright/BHO attacks (and rightfully so). She should move to FOX where she’ll be on tonight with Hannity.
For as many that the last poster thinks don’t watch The View because of Elizabeth, I know double that, that don’t watch because of the four other liberal hags. Colter speaks the truth, but those four single mothers didn’t want to hear it, especially Whoopi and Shari.

Couldn’t agree with you more, me! Get rid of her, and why on earth would The View even consider having Ann coulter on their show. She’s got some mental problems in my opinion!

In reference to that comment I disagree Elizabeth is a brilliant lady and I enjoy the show mostly because of her. If anyone gets to me is Joy., so you are missing out.

I guess you saw a different show today than I did. Coulter didn’t kick anyone’s * and instead came near getting her’s kicked by Whoopi who I’m sure would have done it in a genteel and civilized way.

Dumb and Dumber. Hasselbeck, Bush, Palin… just won’t go away.

I love Elisabeth Hasselbeck, she is great! Keep it up Elisabeth

Elisabeth is a moron. She’s cute and cuddly until she talks politics. Then she has no clue. Coulter got her a$$ handed to her on the show. Coulter creates controversy then makes money from it. Any PR is good PR.
Coulter is out of touch, as well.

Ann Coulter just needs a hug, poor thing.

THANK YOU Mr. Bush for your serve to our country and for the people (even if they don’t think so), I am proud that you took on the job and did your best! We are not perfect people and even though the media thinks they are… the only true and perfect ones. I hope Obama can help and serve this country and the people in a way that is best for THE country and THE people. I for one will do as John McCain ask the people to do work with Obama to bring out the best for our country and for the people.

No one takes Elisabeth seriously. Stupid is as stupid does! This is a girl whoes claim to fame is “Survivor” and a marriage to a washed up NFL player. NEXT!

Stupid is as stupid does.

Posted by: JR | January 12, 2009, 7:33 pm 7:33 pm

I don’t believe Elisabeth to be stupid. I simply disagree with her politically. She’s allowed to believe what she wants and be a self-appointed Bush apologist if she wants. Good for her for having the honor of visiting the Oval Office and shaking the hand of someone she apparently believes in strongly. I’m as much of a Democrat as anyone can be. But if I’d be happy about a media-prominent Dem getting to visit Obama or Clinton or whoever else, I have to be pleased that someone on the other side of the fence got to do the same thing with a Republican.

Why does abcnews.com promote this dimwit on a daily basis? She is one of the worst personalities on tv.

Go Elisabeth….she really is the most intelligent and well spoken of them all. Her career is rising as the rest of the View are on the final stages of their careers…

I no longer watch the show because I cannot stand Joy! She’s a complete idiot and makes a fool of herself every time she opens her mouth. And she thinks she’s funny. Regardless, watch Joy the entire time Elizabeth is talking about her White House visit. If looks could kill Elizabeth would be dead. GET RID OF JOY (LESS)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: Viewless | January 12, 2009, 8:58 pm 8:58 pm

Bush truly is delusional. To think that the guy still thinks that the federal response to Katrina was adequate truly is shocking.
He conveniently omitted the part where he and Condi were warned twice during the summer of ’01 about an attack and they didn’t do a damn thing.
I think it’s starting to set in with him that he will be regarded as one of the worst Presidents that we ever had. And I voted for McCain…FWIW.

Elisabeth has a right to her opinions and I have the right not to agree. Normally when I find myself turned off on her it’s more about her being smug. Sometimes she sounds soooo judgmental as well. I can not get my head around her even wanting to go meet this man in his office, but different strokes.

Posted by: Susan | January 12, 2009, 9:58 pm 9:58 pm

I think Elisabeth had the right what to say on her believe and be proud to the man who keep us safe since 9/11/01.
At least he is natural born US citizen!!! not like the one that could not come out from the dark side and still hide his word from the people who elected him. Show us and clarify how you become Natural born US citizen and challenge that to the public before your sworn in!!!!

Elsabeth is entitled to her opinions; however opinionated. U don’t have to hate someone’s views and hate the person’s personality; separate the two. She may be a ‘dumb broad’ in politics, but a wonderful wife/mother/etc
Hate her views, but just love God’s creature!

Human decisions follow by thier actions contributes to a creation recognize as a society. Therefore, a well educated person will have the grasp to why and how’s in contrary to those of why and if’s. Anne Coulter is all about facts.

This whole discussion about the relative intelligence of Conservatives makes me laugh. Liberals want us to approach “issues” with an open mind – and, if that open mind, God forbid has a different conclusion to thier’s then there is no limit to persoanl attacks and name calling. When I read this nonsense coming from the downline who can barely form a well formed forumla it makes me laugh even more. So let us start the age of enlightenment with these obviously stupid people out of office and out of the lime light. As much as I want this President to succeed and this country to be stronger and better it will be a shame to perpetuate the vacuous reasoning of the liberal mindset.

Lori said: Go Elisabeth….she really is the most intelligent and well spoken of them all. Her career is rising as the rest of the View are on the final stages of their careers…
LMAO–what “career?” A reality show loser with a pretty young face and limited brain function?? Her future includes infomercials and Fox News guest spots–if you consider that a “rising star,” then you live in a very “interesting” world.
As far as her being intelligent…um…have you ever WATCHED the show??

Posted by: don | January 13, 2009, 10:10 am 10:10 am

The show is about whoopie playing the race card to justify whatever stupid things she says, behar is a pig in lipstick drowing in hatred, sherry is spew whatever talking points the left wants to hear, barbara stopped being a so so journalist a long time ago.
They’re all threaten by Elizabeth beauty and brain. The ugly lefties attacked Elizabeth because they knows she exposed them for what they are. It’s entertainining to hear stupid things from these idiots then Elizabeth tries to set them straight.

I am happy that Anne Coulter has come back as the rightwing nut spokesperson. Did she take time off to eat? Why does she always show up for early morning interviews in a tight, black mini? Where was she the nite before?

Posted by: Denise | January 13, 2009, 11:10 am 11:10 am

The socialist libs will soon get what they deserve. Althought their buddies on the view in Whoopie less, and Baba Wawaw and Joy the ugly, will continue to live the high life . They are all for socialism until they bear the brunt . Will be interesting to see how happy the new rule will make them….

President Bush did not cause hurricane Katrina. He is not personally to blame for the mismanagement of the disaster effort. The MAYOR and the GOVERNOR were to blame. The federal government came in because the local efforts were not cooperating. The President did what he could at the appropriate time. I admire the president MORE because, in spite of all the unfair hatred and blame, he continues to be humble and gracious. His reward is waiting for him on the other side of eternity.

Posted by: Valerie | January 13, 2009, 1:43 pm 1:43 pm

It sickens me how the audience claps at every derogatory statement made against our President (Bush). He is a hero for keeping us safe. He is a hero for being humble in spite of the gross hatred towards him. History will show that he was the man that our country needed – a humble man, more concerned for the safety of our country that for his own popularity; and someone who did not strike back at the vile, untrue, and despicable accusations made against him. Those who so vilely criticize the leader of our nation should be ashamed of themselves. Those who stand by in silence are equally guilty.

Posted by: Jonathan | January 13, 2009, 1:51 pm 1:51 pm

Ann Colter is an obnoxious, ugly “witch” who does nothing but spit out hatred wherever she appears. Why does Barbara Walters take her garbage? She is a dangerous woman who needs to be kept off of shows like the VIEW if she shows no respect for the hosts or their audience. Stay on FOX and preach to the choir you “witch”! We don’t need this kind of hatred now in this country as we begin a new chapter in American history. Ann Colter only cares about herself and selling her trashy books. We need to come together as a country. Deal with it Ann President Obama won. You lost so shut up!

Posted by: Jeriyn D. Bifulco | January 13, 2009, 6:26 pm 6:26 pm

Anne coulter is extreme with some of the things that she says/writes. But there is some truth to the madness. Society today has fallen far from what it used to be. There is no accountability and at times there is no standard. Everything is about making a quick buck. It is true about what she says about hollywood figures, who everyone knows is not ready or qualified mentally (other word “mature”) to be single parents. But use it to gain publicity. Movies, tv series that promote such themes as well (Mama mia) Seriously…..a movie that says its ok to sleep around with multiple men and a child trying to seek the truth of who is her father. How low has society gotten. The issue with mixed raced celebrities/figure heads and which race they represent, to me is ridiculous. It is the year 2009 and people still can’t get past the color of another persons skin. You would think that there is more blacks in this country now because Obama won. But the truth is, he won because of his credibility. Not because of the color of his skin. Becaus we all know that there are more white’s then there are blacks in the US. The color of your skin shouldn’t even be an issue. We all live in a very diverse & multi-culture world. To still be arguing about the color of our skins is absurd. We should be arguing about solving world hunger, the cure for AIDS, cancer, etc & world peace. I do feel though that her statement about criminals coming from single parent mothers is extreme. The numbers may suggest it, but there are plenty of criminals that come from a traditional parent fixture as well. In some cases, they may even be worst. Bottom line is……society has failed us. The goverment has failed us. We have failed each other. Because we all choose to live our lives with blind folds on.

No Bush did not cause Katrina but there are people that still don’t have a roof over their heads that they can call their own. If it weren’t for people like Brad and Angie there would be a lot more. Didn’t see Lizzie and Timmy down there helping people out, did you?

Posted by: Rose Szymanski | January 18, 2009, 12:59 am 12:59 am

I like Elisabeth. I don’t even watch The View anymore, because I cannot stand listening to Barbara and Joy. I believe that we should support our country and our president. People like Joy are disrespectful and a disgrace to our country. I wish that there was a last day for Joy on The View, so I could wear a stupid pin like she is wearing for President Bush’s last day. Then, if Barbara would retire (please!!!), I could watch the show again! Let’s see how they feel about President Obama when he makes mistakes, because he will, just like any other president does. I want President Obama to do well. I will respect and support him just like I would any other president.

The more I read comments on political blogs, the more discouraged I become. The liberals never have anything positive to say – instead they call Elisabeth and Bush “stupid”. Elisabeth has a Fine Arts degree from Boston College and Bush has an MBA from Harvard.
I’ll bet you a million bucks not a single poster on this thread has an equal education.
Elisabeth and Bush are both gracious, genuinely nice people, who amazingly put up with more hatred spewed at them by ignorant leftists than I can imagine.
Those who can, do; those who can’t, teach; those who can’t teach, write nasty comments on blogs.

Elisabeth is the only intelligent person on “The View”, but even that can’t persuade me to watch because Joy Behar makes me sick. She’s such a blowhard. And Ba-ba Wa-wa isn’t much better. If Ann Coulter ripped them on their own show, I’m sorry I missed it. That would’ve made my day. There’s only one reason I’m glad the Bush Presidency is over and that’s so I won’t have to listen to the left blame everything in the world on him. How could anyone have prepared for 9/11? And how the mishandling of the Hurricane Katrina aftermath got blamed on him is beyond me. I’m curious to see if Obama gets ripped for every move he makes. I truly hope not. As of today, he is my President and I am willing to give him a chance. I do not believe he is the messiah that some believe, but I am hopeful for our nation’s future.

Elisabeth, not that you really care what any of us really think. Bravo to you for standing up for President at the time Bush. I didn’t vote for President Obama but as an American I must respect his position in office. I didn’t agree with everything Mr. Bush did, but I think he got blamed for a lot of things that weren’t necesarily his fault. But he and Laura have shown great grace and hospitality in there term and in these weeks of transition. Our children have for years seen nothings but back biting and fighting and finally they get to see true grace unfire. He has been very gracious to the Obama’s and I am thankful to see they in turn have been gracious to the Bush’s, in turn. Thanks for speaking out and saying what so many want to but aren’t in the position to get to say.

I don’t watch the “The View” because I can’t stand how they just favor who they only like excluding Elizabeth. She is the only one that has class in that panel. Joy is the most annoying person I have ever seen. Whoppie should just go whoppie! Barbara should be in a museum in the mummys section. Elizabeth is the only one that can complete a sentence properly. Go Elizabeth, you should have your own show.

G-DUB! I’m happy with President Bush, a Harvard grad btw, and how he handled his time in office. Not since Pearl Harbor had America been attacked on it’s own soil. I think he handled it magnificently and applaud him for finishing his years with the magnitude of stress he endured. It’s about time the America went to the offense against those people around the world who burn our flags and preach nothing but hate. Obviously, economic affairs give him a bad rep. but his ideas were totally changed from when he ran in 2000. I think it would be awesome to meet the man one day.

I did not know Americans had such hatred towards people. Its ok to dislike people’s views but to feel this much hatred towards a person because of their views is disgusting. Why all the nasty comments about Elisabeth. After all, the program she is on is called ‘the view’ and if she can’t express her views then whats the point of the show?? You are all so stupid.
