Judd Gregg to Commerce?
Roll Call is reporting that team Obama is floating GOP Senator Judd
Gregg of New Hampshire for Commerce Secretary. No decisions have been made, but
Gregg — who is well-respected by Senate Democrats who disagree with
him on most issues — is in the mix. Symantec CEO John Thompson
is another leading candidate.
Of course, Gregg’s GOP colleagues will do everything they can to
stop him from taking the job if it’s offered. A Senate vacancy would
be filled by Governor John Lynch — a Democrat.

Funny that this story just surfaced the day after the Republicans showed their butts in yesterday’s vote.
Obama did not get where he is today on his looks, he is very shrewd and this just proves that the Republicans may think they have control but they have absolutely no idea who they are dealing with! Kudos Mr. President!

George:
How can we believe anything you say or write anymore? You are talking daily with your old cohorts in the Clinton White House. Carville, Bagala, and Podesta. Full disclosure please!

I think Obama should pick Gregg with the stipulation that the seat will go to a republican.
I am a big time Obama supporter but we need checks and balances people!
Reid and Pelosi will ruin everyone if they get a filibuster!

Obama may be coy, but Gregg is no fool either. This may finally be the “transparency” Obama was talking about.
If tapped, Gregg will acknowledge the honor of the offer, but refuse on the grounds he was elected to represent the people of NH and the best way he can do that is to remain in the Senate.

I’ve met John Thompson numerous times and he rocks.
I’m a Democrat and I have to say that I’d be uncomfortable with them having the veto and a fillabuster-proof Senate.

“Gregg — who is well-respected by Senate Democrats”
George, how can this be so? Is everyone overlooking Gregg’s role in getting his campaign treasurer Francis L. Cramer named as an immigration judge? As noted in the DOJ investigation, Senator Gregg’s role was more than a merely offering a recommendation, but rather the senator had been actively “pushing” Cramer’s appointment with full knowledge that the use of political considerations are illegal when employed in the naming of candidates to career positions.
