Meanwhile, in New Mexico…

So Bill Richardson wanted to be president, then vice president, then secretary of state.  He was picked as secretary of commerce, for about ten seconds before that fell apart.  So how is he spending this historic inauguration day?  Delivering the State of the State address in New Mexico.  This is what the governor said today:

"Now I know there are some legislators who were looking forward to my departure, and not having to deal with me this session.  I’m sorry to disappoint. I’ll try to make it up to you somehow."

At this moment we are trying to figure out how John Edwards is spending the day.

I don’t understand how Richardson ever got that far in the vetting process because he has been under official investigation for months now. The local newspaper, “The Albuquerque Journal” has been writing about this “pay to play” business for many months now. New Mexicans know how corrupt this man is. We remember when he was the head of the Energy Department and abused employees to try to cover up his many mistakes concerning national security at the national labratories.

And we also remember when Richardson was elected six years ago that he came into office with a treasury surplus. Now as the legislature goes into session today for the next sixty days the state is short approximately 500 million dollars for this coming year. It’s a good thing this guy is not going to be the Commerce Secretary.

Well I guess he is back in my home state. He has some shady dealings, but you have to expect that from politicians nowadays (except for Ron Paul).
