I SAID Israel was the reason for the hatred of extremists. Did I not.
Those Western oil companies were there at the request of the national leaders. Now, there may have been some lousy decisions and deals made by corrupt leaders but that is hardly a basis for generations of hatred. And much of that hatred should be directed at the corrupt leaders that betrayed them.
That we have peaceful relationships with Arab/Muslim countries that are not at war with Israel is not irrelevant. It completely makes my point–that continued belligerence on the part of those aggrieved by Israel is counter productive.
How is Israel to make peace with people who have vowed to fight for and until Israel’s annihilation. Of course Israel takes more land and removes belligerents. It is a defensive buffer. I agree completely that it breed’s resentment but the root cause is the failure of Palestinian political groups to renounce violence. Israel’s relative restraint over the years should be lauded. I hope for a peaceful resolution for the sake of both peoples.
So I agree Israel is a big part of the problem but for people like bin Laden, his battle isn’t political it is religious and anyone who doesn’t worship as he does is an infidel. It is that type of extremism that we need to be concerned with. Because bin Laden and his followers will not be content with a peaceful resolution of the Arab/Israeli conflict with a Sovereign Palestine. It is the complete and utter end of Israel and her allies that they seek.
And they do hate our freedom because they fear it. And they fear it because it is a threat to their own belief system.

This nation has a long history of media “bias.” Before radio, television and the internet, newspaper editors have long endorsed a particular political candidate, and — obviously — tried to portray their candidate in the best possible light. And the other candidates in the worst.
If you consider yourself a Democrat, you cannot be an educated and informed Democrat until or unless you do your own research into the Republican party. And if you consider yourself a Republican, you cannot be an educated and informed Republican until or unless you do your own research into the Democratic party. You cannot simply listen to your own chosen “party line” and then expect to have anyone take you seriously or to sway others opinions. You just look like a “talking head” that way and others find your “arguments” absurd at best, and specious at worse.
I tend to lean toward the Democratic party’s thinking, I’ll freely admit that. (Although I am neither a registered Democrat nor Republican. I prefer to make up my own mind on a case-by-case basis.) But, if you read all of the comments here, you will notice that I posted a comment to the ABCNews web/editors accusing them of engaging in tabloid journalism in their ill-advised choice of headline.

I did not vote for Obama Because:
There is a reason Planned Parenthood gives him a 100 % rating.
There is a reason the homosexual community supports him.
There is a reason Ahmadinejad, Chavez, Castro, Hamas etc. love him.
There is a reason he said he would nominate liberal judges to the Supreme Court.
There is a reason he voted against the infanticide bill.

Would you support a White President who went to a church which has tenets that said they have a

3. Adherence to the White Work Ethic
4. Pledge to make the fruits of all developing and acquired skills available to the White Community.
5. Pledge to Allocate Regularly, a Portion of Personal Resources for Strengthening and Supporting White Institutions

Would you support a President who went to a church like that?
Just change the word from white to black and you have the tenets of Obama’s former church. If President Bush was a member of a church like this, he would be called a racist. Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton would have been marching outside.
This kind of church is a racist church. Obama did not wake up after 20 years and just discovered he went to a racist church. The church can’t be about race. Jesus did not come for any particular race. He came for the whole world.
A church can’t have a value system based on race. The churches value system has to be based on biblical mandate. It does not matter if it’s a white church or a black church it’s still wrong. Anyone from either race that attends a church like this would never get my vote.
Obama’s former Pastor Jeremiah Wright is a disciple of liberal theologian James Cone, author of the 1970 book A Black Theology of Liberation. Cone once wrote: ‘Black theology refuses to accept a God who is not identified totally with the goals of the black community. If God is not for us and against white people, then he is a murderer, and we had better kill him.
Cone is the man Obama’s mentor looks up to. Does Obama believe this?
So what does all this mean for the nation?
In the past when the Lord brought someone with the beliefs of Obama to lead a nation it meant one thing – judgment.
Read 1 Samuel 8 when Israel asked for a king.
First God says in 1 Samuel 1:9 ‘Now listen to them; but warn them solemnly and let them know what the king who will reign over them will do.’
Then God says
1 Samuel 1:18 ‘ When that day comes, you will cry out for relief from the king you have chosen, and the LORD will not answer you in that day.’ 19 But the people refused to listen to Samuel. ‘No!’ they said. ‘We want a king over us. 20 Then we will be like all the other nations, with a king to lead us and to go out before us and fight our battles.’ 21 When Samuel heard all that the people said, he repeated it before the LORD. 22 The LORD answered, ‘Listen to them and give them a king.’
Here is what we know for sure.
God is not schizophrenic
He would not tell one person to vote for Obama and one to vote for McCain. As the scripture says, a city divided against itself cannot stand, so obviously many people are not hearing from God.
Maybe I am the one not hearing but I know God does not change and Obama contradicts many things I read in scripture so I doubt it.
For all my friends who are voting for Obama can you really look God in the face and say; Father based on your word, I am voting for Obama even though I know he will continue the genocidal practice of partial birth abortion. He might have to nominate three or four Supreme Court justices, and I am sure he will be nominating liberal judges who will be making laws that are against you. I also know he will continue to push for homosexual rights, even though you destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah for this. I know I can look the other way because of the economy.
I could not see Jesus agreeing with many of Obama’s positions. Finally I have two questions for all my liberal friends.
Since we know someone’s value system has to be placed on the nation,
1. Whose value system should be placed on the nation?
2. Who should determine that this is the right value system for the nation?

This was a feel good effort by Bill Clinton and Democrats in the last Congress led by Barney Frank and Chris Dodd. Frank and Dodd were warned about the impending financial crisis in 2006 but did not want to lose the votes of the new homeowners who could not keep up with the payments. First of all, yes it was the Democrats fault. They pushed for legislation that forced banks give loans to people who could not possibly pay it back. ACORN and asscoiate groups used despicable tactics (like a buying a bunch of single shares and showing up at board meetings to threaten banks when they didn’t loan to the ‘underprivileged’. Bush warned that Fannie and Freddie were going to be a problem starting in the FY02 budget. He did so again in the FY05 budget stating “The Administration has determined that the safety and soundness regulators of the housing GSEs lack sufficient power and stature to meet their responsibilities, and therefore…should be replaced with a new strengthened regulator.” And still warnings went unheeded. When some honest Republicans tried to do something, the Demos and some turncoat RINOS killed it to line their own pockets. President Bush emphatically called Congress to pass a reform package for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, saying “first things first when it comes to those two institutions. Congress needs to get them reformed, get them streamlined, get them focused, and then I will consider other options.” (President George W. Bush, Press Conference, The White House, 8/9/07) Again the warning went unheeded. Still loans were being made to anyone with a pulse regardless if they could pay it back or not. President Bush publicly called for GSE reform 17 times in 2008 alone before Congress acted.

If you are 54, then you were born in 1954 (2008 – 54 = 1954), which would have made you no older than 21 when the last of our people left. I served in the U.S. Army for four years. (51 months to be exact because I “extended” my original term by three months.) As I said, the normal tour of duty for Vietnam was 12-months.
So yes, there were many months where I was officially in the US military but not in-country and/or the Vietnam war was not officially going on. But the inclusive dates for the war encompass the vast majority of the time I spent in service.
It is also worth noting that, during that era, women were not allowed in “combat MOS’s” in the military. (They are now.) So I’m not going to try to get you to believe that I ever served as point-guard on a combat patrol or whatever. Nevertheless, according to Department of Defense statistics, approximately 7,500 women served on active military duty in Vietnam. The Veteran’s Administration puts the numbers even higher, at around 11,000.
I spent the entire time (other than time spent in training) in the service working in the Medical Command. So even when I wasn’t actually in-country, I was working with soldiers who recently had been, whether at Walson Army Hospital in Ft. Dix, New Jersey or in Europe.
So for “Lu” to suggest that I am a “naive” “young man” that knows nothing about our national defense is ludicrous.

And yes, getting rid of a dictator (that this country supported up until recently) makes the Iraqi people a whole lot better off than having any semblance of a power grid, clean drinking water, roads without random explosive devices buried along them, and any sense of personal safety. I was at the Minneapolis VAMC for the surgery and had a stroke on the operating table. So I spent a couple of months there having speech, occupational, and physical therapy. While I was there, there was another female in residence. Her physical therapy appointment was always just before mine, so we used to talk when she was done and before they were ready for me.

That is why…and it is the last time I will say it, there is pending court action to get to the real, actual birth certificate and other documents which are sealed and locked up. The stock market slide began following the takeover by Congressional Democrats. Moreover, because of Obama’s excessive spending plans this market will not recover to its high during August 2007 for 10 years.

I cannot understand the level of hatred I see expressed here on both sides. The divisive politics of Karl Rove and company have been truly effective, aided and abetted by the Hannity/Limbaugh/O’Reilly/Olbermann-influenced useful idiots, who have somehow been convinced that giving rich people (like Hannity/Limbaugh/O’Reilly/Olbermann tax cuts is good for the lower classes.
Well, we now see where that has led us, so keep on supporting those politicians who promise everything, around election time, and deliver nothing.
This especially includes the current Senate and House majority leaders, so I am not making a partisan argument, as most of you here have been doing.
We should all speak loudly and clearly, and start holding all these people accountable for the irreparable harm they have done to our country. They all did, Republicans and Democrats alike. If you want to waste your time bickering about the supposed evil left because ONE SMALL GROUP chose to hold a shoe-throwing event, go ahead. This labeling of all for the actions of a few shows a superficial understanding of what is meaningful and important.

Rove took division to a new height. Our “Uniter not divider” failed to make good on that promise. The right has been running campaigns “against” half the country for a while now and the people spoke this election. And a good part of you must have slept thru the Clinton years when there was plenty of Clinton bashing. It remains to be seen, but I predict coming up the far left will hate Obama and some on the right will end up being upset they have to respect some of what he does. The only thing I’m pretty sure of is they’re all about the same, and they go laugh somewhere in a bi-partisan party room, about how much they keep us fighting while they take what they want.

In the weeks leading up to war with Iraq, Collin Powell’s State Department negotiated with Ankara’s parliament for permission to use Turkish territory to launch 62,000 US troops against Iraq. Despite being authorized to deliver millions in US aid, Powell failed to secure a “northern front” for the Coalition forces. This left the most advanced division in the U.S. Army stuck in Texas and over 14,000 pieces of equipment, including the latest M1-A2 Abrams battle tanks, Bradley fighting vehicles and Apache attack helicopters on ships in the Mediterranean Sea. Additionally, this division boasted the Army’s most sophisticated computer systems, allowing for the first time in actual battle, the linking of all vehicles, tracking both each other and the enemy on the battlefield.
It wasn’t until almost a month later that the 4th ID finally joined the war effort after having been re-routed through Kuwait, arriving too late to be part of the initial attack. With the advance of American troops into the Sunni Triangle and the last vestiges of Iraqi resistance thought to be crumbling, it was not clear whether the 4th would see any action or take more of a stabilization role. The 4th ID had initially been a key part of the American war plan, to invade Iraq from the north through Turkey as the 3rd Infantry Division invaded south from Kuwait.
It is now understood that many troops loyal to Saddam abandoned their posts and uniforms and took up arms against Coalition forces when they reached the outskirts of Baghdad. Had there been a simultaneous push down from the North, as originally planned, the al Queda uprising and Sunni Insurgency may never have come to pass and many of those who perpetrated terror in post-invasion Iraq would have been captured or killed at that time.
It can be said with a fair amount of certainty that, had Collin Powell succeeded diplomatically with the Turks, a lot of Americans and Iraqis would be alive today.
Powell failed, the liberation of Iraq got bogged down in a near Civil War, President Bush and Republicans were harmed politically and now he presumes to lecture Conservatives as to whom they should listen to. Screw him.

Funny how the Leftists like to blame the country being divided on Rove/Bush. Its tough to ‘Unite’ a country when one side is DETERMINED to divide it as we’ve seen for the past 8 years. Osama has been promising the same ‘Unite’ theme as Bush attempted.

Yet Clinton was the bad guy because he lied about a sexual affair.
There’s your divisive politics. Henry Hyde, a leader in the impeachment process, who later resigned after his own illicit affair was made public, later admitted that the impeachment of Clinton was payback for the Nixon/Watergate affair.
Now THAT is partisan divisive politics. And because of the fear of repercussions, the spineless Democrats refused to impeach a President who had authorized war crimes, torture of innocent prisoners (some may have been guilty; most were not) and illegal spying on innocent American citizens.

I did not vote for George Bush the first time, but because our country was headed for war, I started watching the news, and him, very closely. That meant comparing the news articles from the Washington Post, the New York Times and on TV with the actual transcripts of speeches, hearings and actual documents.
I see some of the lies perpetuated by our “professional” “news” sources are still extant, even though some of them were retracted by those same papers!

Hate is not reserved to either the right or left and very few folks on this blog bother to fair mindedly look at it as such since it does away with that whole “us against them” mentality. Instead of engaging in divisive ways, why not be a part of the solution? In other words, it’s far easier to be a critic rather than putting out solutions. Bush messed up by not having a long term plan after the first ‘Mission Successful’ invasion. Rather than boost the number of troops to control Iraq, then build it from the ground up, he kept troops levels relatively the same and allowed chaotic fektards to invade the country and wreak havoc for 5 more years.
One thing I will contribute – in my opinion, the Iraqis life will be improved. At least now they have the freedom of speech they deserve, unlike under Saddam’s dictatorship. Things take time, so hopefully it works out. But to disrespect the U.S. President by throwing a shoe is a little overboard. I guess that’s what Bush gets for giving Iraq the freedom of speech. But for Obama to throw celebrations honoring the shoe throwing incident is down right stupid and classless. Shame on Obama.

Although he was actually a moderate Republican, the truth is that from the day Bush took office the Democrat left tried to destroy him and his Presidency. They were aided by a biased and incompetent media, who echoed every Democrat criticism as if it were actually news. Obama is unequivocally the least qualified, least experienced, least accomplished individual to hold the Presidency. It has already become apparent that he will be a complete utter disaster. I read above that the Left feels “distain” for Bush. I beg to differ. If what the country has been put through during the last 8 years, calling him Hitler and even worse isn’t hate, then hate does not exist. Most Americans are oblivious to the semantic manipulation that pulls their strings – makes them buy crap they don’t need and vote for idiots they don’t know who stand for ideas they don’t understand. You (we) all disappear into echo chambers where all we hear is people who tell us that our side is smarter or more moral or genetically superior to those other ones. We aren’t supposed to put our heads together and do the work to solve the problems – we’re supposed to blame it on those other guys who didn’t pass the proper legislation to pay someone else to solve them. It’s all about who gets to be top dog, not about making things work right.

Oh, well, I could go down the comments, agreeing & disagreeing. I’m not particularly a Bush fan, on the domestic side, but he has actually tried to address domestic issues constructively, whether one agrees with his solutions or not. In foreign affairs, he’s been pretty effective, despite what you might read in the media or hear on tv.
I was a history major in college, so I have seen this kind of stuff before, in the books. Has there ever been a time where the media and the Democrats went bananas, irrationally attacking a sitting president in time of war? Yep – that’s what they did to Lincoln. Has there ever been a war where it took several tries to get things right, and where incompetence seemed to rule the day? Yep – any military history buff can point you in the right direction, from the Battle of Manhattan to the Civil War to the Vietnam escalation. War is mainly incompetence, and anyone who has actually served in the military knows that we win despite incompetence, not because of brilliance.
I actually have hopes for Obama. At least the man should be given a chance, which I expect the Republicans will do, unlike what the Democrats have done with Bush. I expect that history will see Bush as a middling president on the domestic side, and a pretty good one in foreign affairs. And the Democrats will be seen for the irrational fools they have been over the last 8 years.
What’s unusual about Bush is that he’s not a clever politician, like Clinton or Reagan, Nixon or Johnson. He’s more of a Truman type, and again, those who know their history will see the parallel.
As for the Democrats and their treatment of Bush, it’s been plain to me for years that the American left feels like its entitled to run the country, and goes ape when the rest of us manage to elect someone who isn’t a liberal.
Now the left thinks that in Obama, they have elected one of their own. I think they are wrong about that, but we’ll see. It might not be too long before the perpetual adolescents like Gilbert Gazan are throwing shoes at him.
