Oprah Reacts to Blago’s GMA Interview: ‘I Think I Could Be Senator, Too. I’m Just Not Interested.’
ABC News’ Teddy Davis Reports:
Oprah Winfrey has weighed in on Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich (D) telling ABC’s Diane Sawyer on "Good Morning America" that Winfrey had been under consideration to fill Barack Obama’s seat in the United States Senate.
"I’m pretty amused by the whole thing," Winfrey told Gayle King’s Sirius satellite radio program. "My plan was to get up and watch ‘Good Morning America and work out. Then I thought: ‘Let me just lay here another half hour.’"
"If I had been watching," she added, "as I (normally) watch, from the treadmill, I would have fallen off the treadmill."
Listen to Winfrey’s interview here.
Winfrey said she would not have been interested in the Senate seat that eventually went to former Attorney General Roland Burris.
"Absolutely not," said Winfrey when asked if she would have been interested. "I would have to say: where would I fit it in with my day job, my mid-day job, my night-job, my radio-job, my magazine job?"
When King, the interviewer and a close Winfrey friend, said she was flattered that people think Winfrey could be senator, the queen of day-time talk made it clear that she thought she was up to serving in the "World’s Greatest Deliberative Body."
"I think I could be senator, too, I’m just not interested," said Winfrey. "I think I could be senator, too."

Pope Oprah! Pope-rah!
Why not? Much like the Catholic church, she owns half the world, she has following of about a billion dimwitted people, and she’s black. She’s a shoo-in!
Vote for Pope Oprah – - 75 cents per vote, and the winner will be announced on “American Idol”. Everyone in the audience will receive a new, government-owned, taxpayer-funded GM car, a year’s supply of turtle wax, and a lovely boxed gift set of Pope Oprah soap-on-a-rope-rah.
Yay! I love America!

Oprah has done very little for society. Stop kidding yourself.
Oprah has discussesd the same problems with the same people for decades on her TV show. Advice has come from tons of experts. Apparently none of it works, because she is still discussing the same issues with the same people. She lost her credibility years ago. Wake up world, Oprah doesn’t have the answers.

oprah and the other BIG O obama are liars. She got him millions of dollars so they could buy the whitehouse and in return she would get his seat as senator. This is clear and anyone saying anything different is simply on the goal of africans to take over this country.
Notice how the first thing he does is demands all the Muslims in the prison in Cuba to be let free even when it is known they murdered Americans.
Notice how mad oprah was when he got sworn in because she knew she was not going to get that seat as promised.

Oprah, I agree you could be a democratic senator also. The criteria for a democrat senator fits you to a “T”. It’s all about image. You would be led around like a puppet as Obama is now. Just vote like the democrat leadership wants and you’ll do just find.

Of course you could, first you are black and you simply DESERVE it since somewhere in your history I am sure some white person hurt your feelings and second ANY IDIOT CAN BE A POLITICIAN. Why would she want to be a senator?
She’s filthy rich, more popular than her “talent” can justify, and running her own empire any way she sees fit. She orders around millions of admittedly mentally-challenged fans, while soaking up their unlimited praise.
A senate seat could turn out to be a lot of work and conflict. That would be a ton less fun than what she’s doing now. Even Doprah’s smart enough to see that!
Thanks, but no. She’s doing just fine with her current gig. She evidently agrees.

Of course she could be a senator. She is: – at least 30 years old
- citizen for at least 9 years
- a resident of state elected
The question is would she be a good senator and even that doesn’t matter because if she wasn’t a good senator she would fit right in with the rest of them. The senate has gotten slightly better with biden out but with franken looming it may be a wash.

Didn’t the Democrats spend a lot of time and money questioning the qualifications of Gov. Palin? In the last month they have talked about two possible nominations for the Senate, neither of whom has ever held any public office. Democrats must see political experience like military experience: It’s necessary if you’re a Republican, not if you’re a Democrat. It’s something to be recognized for a Democratic candidate, unimportant for a Republican. You know, the old hypocritical, elitist double standard. Again and again.

Your description of President Bush is very telling of just how effective the liberal propaganda has been through the years.
For the record, Bush was not a “D” student as you claim. He actually received HIGHER grades at harvard and yale than john kerry, was never caught plagerizing TWICE like joe the biden, and he never FLUNKED out of lawschool like the messiah of global warming did.
If liberals were forced to stop referring to all republicans as “dumb” they would lose 3/4 of their insults.

Just what we don’t need is another celebrity trying to tell us how our country should be run. Just because they make lots of money on TV does not make them government material. Until we get someone in a political office who actually knows what it is like to be poor/unemployed/depending (praying-hoping?) for Social Security we will never have any political person do us a bit of good.

For those saying that Oprah has never done anything for anyone: tell that to the millions of sexual abuse victims she has spoken up for over the years or the people in New Orleans who have a house to live in thanks to her, or the thousands of other people her charities have helped. Strange how some of you were willing to swallow Palin because of her so called “executive” experience yet you want to look down at someone who actually runs a billion dollar corporation, who was a real journalist for years before being a talk show host and who can speak in complete and coherent sentences. Apparently she’s not as beautiful and thin as Palin.
BTW, name one thing ANY of you have done for anybody?

You are confusing requirements and qualifications.
Yes Oprah meets the minimum REQUIREMENTS to be a Senator (she is 30 years old and a citizen).
That does not make her QUALIFIED. She has no experience in government or any public office, or in reviewing, negotiating or approving legislation (which is the main function of the Senate). Oh, and she is also a fat egostical pig. Wait, maybe that does qualify her…
Posted by: rick | January 26, 2009, 5:17 pm 5:17 pm

we’re all in trouble, my friends…the liberals are still
unhappy…have you noticed. they have their guy in
there and they control both houses..but they’re still
unhappy……barbara streisand is concernce because
the few republicans that are left oppose eric holder.
it’s not good enough to control the government….

There is a lot of hateful words coming from here but her skin color has nothing to do with why I don’t like her. Same with Obama. Michael Steele would have made a better all black President than Obama. Oprah had not voted in a primary since the 80′s. The only interest was color based, and it was obious, unfortunately. I have nothing against color, but the person she supported and America chose will be the downfall of America.
Of course she thinks she can be senator. Everyone raves about her as she falsely tells them how there are many ways to God.
She will be responsible in part to those people being led astray.
If you only have to show up and vote present half the time like Obama did, anyone can be a senator.
She is very arrogant and a little humility would do her well but when millions are fooled like they are with her and Obama, there is nothing we can do. I am ashamed of the people from my own country.

I believe in self-confidence but Oprah Winfrey is beyond arrogant. She is a brilliant television personality who pandered to white American woman to catapult her success. All the while I feel she is as rascist as rascist can be. Her fawning over President Obama borders on nauseous, and its because he is black skinned and she believes she made him. America has been duped by Ms.Winfrey, her shows are her catharsis to expel “her” demons. Senator? Is she nuts? Oh, thats right, she supported a man whose only political no how is community affairs and 2 years in Senate and spent as much time running for President. Hilary Clinton had the experience and poof, she was ousted by a nation who wanted a no name because of their hatred for George W. Bush. This win was a win against 8 years of Bush.

Don’t kid yourself. If she threw her hat in, she’d be following it right into a seat. The masses will have spoken again. Common sense went bye-bye PERMANENTLY (not just in cycles) about 9 years ago.
Never have watched her show, never have read the books she recommends (I prefer something with more substance), and I loathe Dr. Phil. But you cannot deny she controls the thoughts and choices of the masses. You do so at your own risk.

What a sight it would be, seeing Oprah waddle down the aisle to take her seat in the Senate. Except she’d be stopped by the Sergeant-at-arms, who would explain to her that because she’s so fat she’ll either need to buy a second Senate seat from Blago or Durbin will have to resign from the Senate. Oprah enjoys the place she’s in: power without responsibility. No one can touch her. Why would she trade that for something where she’d have to be accountable.

Michelle and Oprah are built like a pair of ’51 Buicks.

A box of oatmeal could be a senator.

RE: Jackson Carter…
A box of oatmeal would be a BETTER senator than most there already.

There will be a revolution again in this country. It will be in the form of huge tax revolt……….. Millions of americans, who are employees and employers, will refuse to file or pay taxes…..there wouldn’t be enough prisons or gov. staff/police/military to handle or prosecute all of the citizens involved. the us gov. will go bankrupt unless it becomes accountable and the congress and president give back control of the gov.
to the citizens. it will make the amercian revolution
looks like a picnic. if we’re at the point where we are looked at as only sources of revenue and people like oprah, obama and al franken are regarded as statesman, then a revolution can’t be far behind.
then a revolution

…and until they repeal the income tax and we are
able to own property…this country will never be
free. what good is it to own a house if your can’t
own the land under it. we have murderers (ted kennedy), tax cheats( obama’s treasury/irs secretary), retards(nancy pelosi), inexperienced socialist wannabes(obama) and clowns(al franken) ..so what
difference would it make if we have a loud mouth, fat
celebrity a&% kisser like oprah. a revolution is coming.

Oprah a Senator??? What a joke! She thinks she would be a good Senator? She’s a racist PIG!! If she hadn’t opened her big mouth, Obama wouldn’t be president. He doesn’t have the sense to be president, that’s why he’s surrounded himself with Clinton rejects!!!

Senator?
Oprah has it all over The Obama – she can actually speak in FULL SENTENCES without the aid of a teleprompeter on any topic at all. I have to say that if the choice were between The Obama and Oprah, then I would vote for Oprah.
But seriously, Mike Hucabee would be a really great President.
