I would suppose that “I won” “I trump you” and all of Pelosi’s rantings about the repubs “getting nothing” “the party’s over” etc is bi partisan. They really do live in their own world don’t they.

I think Hannity may be a better comedian than Rush, but they both make me laugh.

Limbaugh is at the heart of the Republican party’s problems over the past few years. Listen to this guy!”Liberalism is our problem”??? We have just finished 8 years of CONVSERVATIVE leadership and our country is in the tank economically and in many other ways. Our position in the world is as bad as it has ever been. Anti-Americanism is at an all time high. These facts ARE NOT DUE to liberalism. Limbaugh, like most conservatives, just refuse to admit when they are wrong, or will not even admit that there is a possibility that they are wrong. This is why they will continue to fail politically. There is a new generation of Americans who are sick and tired of this mentality.

Limbaugh is a little to far right for me, but I do agree with him on one thing.
Just because Obama is the first Black President in this country, DOES NOT mean I have to agree with him.
Tax CREDITS did not work for me when they did them a few years ago, and they WILL NOT WORK now.
Give the American people a TAX HOLIDAY for 6 months. PEOPLE THAT WORK pay NO TAXES during that period (AND NOT AT THE END OF THE YEAR EITHER), this will turn the Economy around. Think of all the people looking at the extra money in their paycheck. THEY WILL SPEND it and they will spend on the things that are important to them.

So I suppose the rest of the media swooning over Obama this week is bipartisan. Take someone like Chris Mathews for example. He said he must do everything within his power to make this president a success. As opposed to doing everything within his power to make the last president a failure.
Obama is a hack. Plain and simple. He doesn’t like critisim and it shows. The media toes the line with him. They are beyond in the tank, if that is even possible, but they are. Watch Diane Sawyer sometime, it’s pathetic.
Obama saying “I won, I trump you” should scare the daylights out of every single person that considers themselves to be American. It indicates that he does not believe in our traditional government nor does he believe in checks and balances from congress. Quite scary. Obama thinks he is a dictator, so does his wife.
Start with your own house Obama. Act in a bipartisan way and talk in a bipartisan way first. You can set the stage. Don’t be a hack and just expect 48% of this nation just to accept you and “change” because you say so. That is the fault of the other half of the nation to vote for an incompetitent, inexperienced, learn as you go smooth talker.

Limbaugh has been lying to his own audience so long, we have a whole class of Americans who actually believe he understands how things work. The problem for those Limbaugh believers is that Rush has become so arrogant over the years that he instructs more hatred than lies. For most Americans Rush Limbaugh represents just another fat slob with a big mouth, but for ditto heads, Rush is the leading sensible voice of the free world.

Rush has to hope Obama fails because it’s good and profitable business for him…

I mean, Democrats in power is a dream come true for him, he’ll have plenty to talk about. And his minions will listen, clinging onto his every word. No, Rush is certainly not the Messiah, but he surely knows one when he sees one.
As he spews his partisan opinions, that some believe to be the gospel, he is totally and completely unaware of the shift in a country that has embraced the idea that change is possible.

I don’t particularly like Obama’s brand of liberalism: it reeks too much of socialism. But the fact that I’m against his policies doesn’t mean I want him to fail. This is where Limbaugh gets it wrong. Those who believe in a conservative amount of government shouldn’t be hoping that Obama’s policies will fail, just to prove themselves right. They should be saying “This WILL fail” and when it does, they can claim the moral high ground. They should be hoping our country can pull itself out of this economic mess. If Obama’s brand of liberalism works, then so be it, we conservatives are proven wrong, but I highly doubt it will have the results he and his supporters say it will. I wish this country nothing but success, but I’m nearly sure that any government “stimulus” won’t bring the success that we want and need.

What law school or graduate program did Rush complete? Intelligent, in his drug stupored dreams.

Face it: Rush is not smart intellectually. he’s smart as a debater. He can argue anything – but in all reality he’s just a male Ann Coulter (I know, I know I thought Coulter was a dude too).

I saw quite a bit of that interview on Fox–call it a fascination with the morbid LOL–and although a part of Limbaugh’s POV could be put down to just a difference of opinion and philosophy with Obama and what he represents, a part of it was just plain falsehoods and hate. He’s a very disturbed man and it saddens me that he has the audience that he does. I’m divided as to whether POTUS was right in trying to stamp out this fire–and thus put the spotlight on this fat turd–or whether it would have been more powerful to just ignore Limbaugh…

I’m shrub laugh – whenever I’ve had the bad luck to inadvertently listen to Limbaugh’s ranting has always struck me as UNintelligent, a highly offensive Bush toady, and greatly misinformed on most topics that he has the supreme arrogance to opine on.

Its amazing that most attacks on Limbaugh are personal. Doesn’t any one have the courage to take on his ideas in the same way he attacks liberalism. THAT is what America is all about – a free exchange of ideas. Some of us really do believe that Bush did a reasonably good job. Do we forget who was president when Bin Laden did all of the prep work for 9/11? Has there been another major terrorist attack since? Give the man some credit even if you don’t agree with everything.

I believe anyone who can get past Limbaugh’s stic will recognize he is very intelligent and has a lot of great ideas for our county. Listen to his prescription for fixing America and compare it to what Obama is saying; you too will find you agree with the polices advcated by Mr. Limbaugh. I do wish however that Limbaugh would temper his remarks a little, but his ideas are really classical Americana.
If you really want to see how Obama’s ability to communicate policy find some videos of Ronald Reagan from the 70′s and 80′s. It is striking how small our politicians today seem in comparison. They don’t have the coherant vision and they surely lack the charisma and insight of the great communicator.

Of course, as long as he remains in the #1 spot you’ll always have critics saying, “Rush is just an idiot,” “he’s just a loudmouth,” “he has a drug problem,” etc. But look at the excerpt above, which is very typical of his somewhat inflammatory stance, and you see someone who is a critic of the immensely popular new President because he is opposed to his ideology. Not just Howard Stern-style sensationalism, but a reasoned analysis of the flaws in his position. And twenty years is not a flash in the pan.
When the President of the free world goes to the trouble to say, “don’t listen to that man,” it’s more than just the routine critic shooting off his mouth.

If Limbaugh is so smart, why does he not accept opposing opinions on his show. He could then have an intelligent debate as opposed to hateful, ignorant dribble. He’s the exact mirror image of Hugo Chavez. He and Hugo should attend another banquet side by side with the King of Spain. LOL

I agree, I have heard Republicans scream socialism every time a Democrat comes into power. It’s a very old argument that I heard even as a kid. My parents, racist and from the deep south hated Kennedy and I remember them screaming socialism.
I was under the impression that we have been a Socialist country for some time now. Long before Obama thought to run as President.

I knew there were some intelligent people reading the news this morning. Or perhaps all the intelligent people didn’t even read this because it says “Limbaugh” in the title.

Rush is just a talk show host who has become very wealthy commenting on politics. Obama is a brilliant financial wiz who managed to attend Harvard Law School from monies saved making 12K per year as an activist. Then he made one speach, wrote a book and became a millionaire. He managed to traverse Chicago politics and not get dirty, pal around with terrorists and not agree with their philosophy, attend Rev Wrights church for 20 years and remain oblivious to his message of hate. This is truly the Mesiah that Rush best not mess with!!

Lots of pots calling the kettles black! What happened to “change” and “hope.” Instead we get a lot of the same old vitriol and hatred.

I think the idea here is that Limbaugh is failing to understand that the only reason to hate liberalism is BECAUSE it is believed to fail based on historical example, not because of the naughtiness of the word itself.
We weren’t terrified of Communism because it was ‘liberal’ or ‘left’ or ‘socialism’, it wasn’t because those foreign baddies just were using such a scary word. It was because these governments were subversive, appealing in their ideology, but ultimately unsuccessful. History is written by the victors, and if Communism had successfully birthed new nations of great happiness and prosperity, it’d be the USA that looks antiquated, not Cuba or North Korea that look sinister.
In other words, Limbaugh defeats his purpose by suggesting that he ‘wants’ Obama to fail, because it reduces him from a man of convictions to a man of petty grudges. Even if Obama isn’t on the same ‘team’ as Limbaugh, to ‘hope’ the country is going to fail under Obama’s watch doesn’t seem to make much sense.

Obama implied that taking a comedian serious is profoundly non-productive, given RUSH has defined a politial party that doesn’t exist.

Fran. U truly are a misguided soul, aren’t you? I feel sorry for you. U obviously didn’t get the point of my message so I’ll say it only once more.
Some of the dumbest people I know, think they are smart because they have degrees. A degree gets you a higher salary, nothing more. Sure, they may know things that other people don’t but in the long run, they’re just as capable to be as dumb as everyone else. The country needs leaders that can think on their feet. Leaders to solve problems and not pontificate and placate us with what we want to hear. Rush is an entertainer first (he makes that quite clear) but behind his entertainment, he makes some solid sense. (Note: I haven’t listened to Rush in over 10 years, since Clinton, but I’ll defend his right to say it!)
As for Bush, there’s no point in discussing; 1. a previous, out-of-office administration. Get over it. 2. regardless of whether or not you acknowledge his service, he did serve and fly jets, which is more than Obama and Clinton have done., 3. whether or not his degree measures up to Obama’s. Self admittedly, Bush acknowledges he was an average student. This just proves my point though. Degrees mean nothing! For every Bush that got through, there are problem ten others with the same background.
You are obviously blinded by the same misguided ideology that you accuse Rush and Republican’s of having. The fact you can’t see the forest through the trees tells a great deal. Wake up and look around. I’m sure you’re a nice person, just blinded and a little misguided though.
And before you rail off, you should know, I’m from Chicago and I HAVE met Barak Obama at a fund raiser. He is an affable, charismatic and eloquent individual. I am a Conservative but am willing to give the man a chance. The American people spoke and now I have to suffer the consequences, as all conservatives do. That doesn’t mean I won’t offer “loyal party opposition.” When he screws up, I’ll speak against. So far, I’m 50/50 on the man. What scares me more about Obama is not his “light” resume” but the fact he brings Chicago machine politics to Washington. We’ll see what four years brings.

When John said that Limbaugh and, by inference, his ilk are entertainers he was hitting the nail on the head. The extent to which they can cause real problems is much more the degree to which their financial success induces “news media” to imulate their techniques than their ability to actually change minds. The funniest part about this entire Limbaugh and Hannity (and other’s like them), thing, is the fact that the owner of the media upon which they air their vitriol is a liberal. Rupert Murdoch and his soon to be heir, son James, are about as liberal as one can get. And they laugh all the way to the bank as they exploit their right wingers to keep the advertising dollars flowing into their coffers.

Obama has shown his inexperience during the first week in office. He is asking for a trillion dollars of taxpayer money and wants a vote immediately. No questions asked. Limbaugh was out of line with his comments . Obviously Obama gives him more credit than he deserves. Not very presidential.

When I was raising my children, I would discuss people’s behavior, both as a good example and as a bad example. It gave them an idea of what behavior we wanted them to emulate in life. I was not afraid of the people that I used as bad examples. I was not battling them. I simply used them as a learning tool. Obama is simply doing the same. Rush’s behavior and the other’s who”entertain” using fear, and divisivness are not helping this country. America is better than that. We can disagree and even disagree strongly, but do it well. In the past, I would occasionally listen to Rush. A few years ago listeners called with concerns about the power grid problems and the business of providing electricity to the West Coast. Rush sounded credible in his defense of the huge electrical power companies doing the best for the people. Within weeks, Enron collapsed and the greed, fraud, and lack of caring for the needs of the people was apparent. I concluded that Rush is talented as sounding like he knows the facts and we can trust him. The Enron incident illustrated perfectly that he takes a grain of truth and maniuplates for his own end; he cannot be trusted. He could have said to the callers concerned about the West Coast electricity problem, I don’t know enough about this I will investigate and get back to you. Did he? No. He made his unassailable pronouncement of how everything was fine and the companies should be trusted. Big business is here to help the citizens, says Rush. Enron proved him wrong. What did he do? Simply colored his opinion after the Enron scandal and moved on. He never addressed what he had foisted on his listeners. We truly do not need that type of behavior from anyone ~ neither Rush, other politically motivated “entertainers” or from our politicians. Again, we are better than that and we deserve better than that.

You might to be careful about criticizing Bush and Limbaugh about drug use because Obama has no defense on this issue. We have only Obama’s woird that he quit taking drugs. And Obama has lied so much, we know his word isn’t worth a hill of beans. Maybe we should make incoming Presidents take drug tests.

Rush is a joke, no one with half a brain listens to him and believes what he spouts. Could someone explain to me why the repubs, not to mention the purported democrat Denise, are so hyped up about the “socialism”? Do they even know what socialism is? If they are so against redsitributiuon of wealth, any chance they would give up their Medicare and Social Security benefits? How about the checks they all received under President Bush to stimulate the economy? I bet those got cashed. Do they buy agricultural products from farmers who get subsidies? I think so. Bush was a great president who saved this country from attack over the past 7 years. The Dems in congress like Pelosi, reid, Frank and Dodd are the ones who made this economic mess by passing our mortgages to people who couldn’t pay.

After reading some of the comments here I agree that the largest problem America faces is the ignorant rantings of so called conservatives. So called, because they really do not have enough knowledge base to even have a credible dogma. They adapt what they think is cool, or what their fathers or other authority figures told them to, no thinking required. The problem with the conservative approach is that the world is changing faster than their ability to process change. So they are perpetually befuddled by what they cannot understand going on around them. If it was up to today’s conservatives, we would all live in 1950′s conditions again. And if you asked a 1950′s conservative, he would want to go back to 1915, and so on. These people are genetic outcasts, that would not survive the evolution they do not believe in, if it were not for the liberal values that protect their petty stupidities and allow them to earn their keep.

You GOP types are exactly why we are in this mess b/c you were all drinking the Bush kool-aid for the last eight yrs.

They explained that the Nation was headed for financial disaster, the burden of which would fall entirely and unfairly on the Taxpayer. In typical fashion Pelosi, Reid, Barney Frank etc. hysterically denounced the report, saying there was nothing at all wrong with the numbers, and accusing the Republicans of outright Racism. Horrified and frightened by the dreaded, but common accusation, the Republicans immediately changed the subject and tried to make it all go away. Even as they are the party of Lincoln and pushed through the Civil Rights Act of the 60′s to a howl of protest from the Democrats, the media has painted Republicans as racist daily every since. The very word strikes fear into their hearts, and they immediately fall over backwards to prove that it just-aint-so.

Rush wants Obama to fail for one reason only, if he succeeds it repudiates everything Rush has been saying for years. And why isn’t anyone asking why he would want someone to fail just because he disagree’s? It proves Rush doesn’t want this country to succeed as much as he wants his ajenda in force whether it succeeds or not.

I’m not a democrat or republican. I’m an American, the choosing of sides is part of the problem. Seems like people put party before country, these days and it’s time to put country before party, which I believe Obama is trying to do.

This country is rapidly moving toward a European style socialist democracy. It started big time with FDR and continues today. The Obama administation and more so the Democratic controlled Congress are poised to take more major steps toward that goal. Just be careful before you abandon all those principles America was founded on. Contrary to your post, the constitution’s language of “promoting the general welfare” was NEVER used by our founding fathers to justify the welfare state…..that is a recent occurence primarily beginning with FDR. In fact, even old Davy Crockett warned of this in early 1800′s when congress was considering pensions for soldiers (and he was a soldier’s soldier). My we have come a long way since then.
While the European socialist democracies have their points, they are not the utopia you imply. Their unemployment rates (as a whole) run several point higher than the U.S. American’s freedoms still trump them (unless you are going to extol the licentious freedoms in the Netherlands, et al.). More importantly, the pure socialist democracies will never by themselves be able to maintain “super power” status in a dangerous world.
You may disagree with the use of America’s military power by the Bush administation, but make no mistake…….it is sorely needed in a dangerous world.

As far as I can see, we’re doing everything we can to keep the free market in the country alive… that’s not really ‘socialist.’ It’s responsible.

I’m well aware of what ‘free market’ means in America. For the last 70 years we’ve had regulation. It’s worked pretty well. This is not the first bailout, either. As far as ‘nationalizing banks…’ I have to disagree. These banks were begging for money and the gov’t took a (preferred) stake in them – kinda like you do when you buy stock in a company. The leadership of these companies, while closely watched, is NOT in gov’t hands, which, according to my definition, would be nationalizing. ‘Nationalizing banks…’ is, ironically, another example of hate-speech (see my other post).
You are right, though, we should be able to let them fail. The former administration labeled them ‘too big to fail.’ I, personally, disagree. However, I’ll freely admit that I don’t know how big ‘the econoym contracts a bit’ part of allowing several multi-national banks, auto-manufacturers, etc. going under would be. I did hear that a GM bankruptcy would cost 1M jobs, which is bad. In fact, it may create more chaos than you or I’d be comfortable with. I’ll leave that call for the experts (who decided to control it).

We had a 14 trillion dollar economy before we started to see if we could fix it. If a bunch of banks and businesses failed because of stupid investments then a lot of banks would have bought the fire sale parts and we would have gone on. Would we have had a slow down? YES and we should be smart enough to know thats what happens. Years of growth then one or two of going backwards then years of growth again.

Who should really care whether the Rush is off or on?

Rush is hard to listen to because he mainly just likes the sound of his own voice and rarely has anything to add to any issue. But, if McCain were president and some liberal were saying, “I hope McCain fails”, it seems likely that Rush would be calling that person “UnAmerican”.

I don’t know a single so called conservative that practices what he or she preaches, and I live in a very so-called conservative state. Living with another and being un-married, cheating on your wife, chemical abuse, totally living by the ten commandments, being a closet gay or open, depending upon Social Security or an government bailout or handout is not Conservatism.

Just finished watching a segment on “60 Minutes”.
After crying about what I just watched on those who lost their jobs, the Father who lost his son in Irag, I believe it is time to get rid of the evil on the Wavelengths. There is nothing wrong with opinions and opposition and questions,and protection of the the First Amendment, but what Sean and Rush and others that fit the mould of these two, the portrait is EVIL.

Personally, I don’t see much reason for you to be concerned about President Obama’s policies (to date). The executive branch is not proposing the take-over of any ‘means of production and distribution of goods’ or the ‘administration’ of such.

What has Obama done in his first week? 1)Stop torture and honor the Geneva Conventions and started the process to close Guantanomo (serving our constitution, treaties, and rule of law),
2)Opened up the Freedom of Information policy to be what it was meant to be,
3)Instigated a transparent government program,
4)Instigated a stronger ethics program
5)Pay freeze for those who earn over $100K in his administration,
6)Involve both the Republicans and Democrats in the Economy Package
7)Opened up embyronic stem cell research,
8)Released the “gag” on family planning and services programs overseas,
9)Set up his open government website (we hope to see more)
10)Hired people on his cabinet and administration that have merit and that are Republicans, too. Kept Gates on.
11)On day 2, he and his Sec. of State set a strong policy for foreign affairs with a strengthened Dept. of State where “Development, Diplomacy, and Defense” would be the integrated strategic tools.
I’ll tell you, this is great government and I’m proud to see this going on.

I hear Rush talking about how all of the problems in our country stem from the liberal influence in America. How exactly does that work? With all of the legislative power and control of our government, the GOP could not put down a toothless minority? Were they incompetent? Did Barney Frank’s vote somehow count for more than other congressmen? I don’t really care for him much myself, but he must be a lot more intimidating in person if he really pulls that kind of power. I know, some people like to wave and shout about the last two years of congress being under the DNC’s control. But, please, be honest, do you Really think a gridlocked congress with a hostile president (the do-nothing congress) could even put a dent in the legislation of the decade before it? Did they have some kind of magic wand or shiny slippers they could bang together to override a VETO? Neither party accomplished much in the last two years.
I will agree with you Repubs, whole heartedly, there are some dems in congress who are absolute scoundrels. That does not change the fact that they were not the scoundrels who drove our country into the muck. The country was still, unambiguously, being driven by the GOP and the neo-conservative block for the last decade. If you are driving the car when it goes into the swamp, you don’t get to blame the person in the back seat for being a bad driver.

The results have not been satisfactory. The wealthy got wealthier. The trickle was sent to China (with tax credits thrown in to make it sweeter for the shareholders) and the Middle Class got it in solidly in the butt. America has slid up to the #3 slot on the wealth disparity chart of modern nations – right behind Turkey and Saudi Arabia. When Bush took office, the CEO’s of our country were averaging 200 times that of their own workers. That number is now at 435 times per worker. In contrast, the highest paid CEO’s in Europe are in England, pulling in a wopping 15 times their average worker.
ONE-TENTH of ONE PERCENT of Americans – about 300,000 people – have the same income as the bottom HALF of America.
Our Country will never return to greatness if the middle class is not healthy.
Repubs, I’ll concede to you that Obama might do a horrible job. I like what I’ve seen so far, but none of us will really know for another two or three years how its all going to settle. I promise though, if Obama fails so horribly as a lot of you expect, I WILL eat my own words and take responsibility for my voting.

It doesn’t seem so in many cases. President Obama didn’t say anything about NOT listening to Rush Limbaugh… he said, “You can’t just listen to Rush Limbaugh and get things done.” The “just” in the sentence is important to understand what’s being said.
If a person or group of people ONLY listen to an ideologue (which Mr. Limbaugh has often called himself)that clearly is aligned with one side of a debate, they will not be as likely to come to agreement than if they listen to and honestly consider various viewpoints.
Our country must not fail… and for that we must work to find those things we can agree on rather than those things which separate and divide us.
We have to do all we can to maintain the UNITED States — that’s what the president’s comment was seeking to address.
I don’t agree with much of what Mr. Limbaugh says, but I do support his right to say it… and I voted for Barack Obama because he represents me.

The extreme right cannot yet accept that fact that a non-white has come to become the President of the United States. It’s not so much what they said at a particular time, but rather just watch and listen to them over the course of next months, in so many words and talking points, you will come to realize it. Personally, any person that stays loyal to a Party is crazy in my eyes. There isn’t a Party that has everything right. There are views on both sides of the isle that make sense, and views on both that don’t.
It’s time to hold our elected leaders accountable. And if you didn’t elect that current administration, pay attention to what they do. Visit the White House web site once a week, visit the soon to be up and running Recovery.org and analyze the administrations thoughts and plans. If you like them, give them credit. If you don’t, bug the crap out of your local leaders to do something about it.

The policy you mention is not “a longstanding 30 year policy”… it originated with Reagan in the early 80′s and has been enforced or not enforced since then by each succeeding president.
Also, it isn’t about “sending money around the world to fund abortions” — it is actually more geared to avoiding abortion by allowing organizations to freely advise on family planning issues that do include, but certainly do not advocate abortion as birth control.
You are on the internet — please read up on this if you wish to understand it better.

I’ve known individuals from the Eastern bloc countries who now live in the states. I’ve heard expressions of concern that certain behaviors of the Bush administration reminded them of the police states they had left. For instance -the wiretapping, the NSA databases, the clamp down on demonstrations, ect., were similar to government intrusions they had lived through.

Personally I hope all Rushs’ followers and the Republicans in office who listen to his show for support in their “conservative” views continue. President Obama just opened up the Freedom of Information Act – after it had been severely curtailed by the Bush administration.

As a republican, i don’t put much weight to what Rush Limbaugh says these days! I believe he was one of the reasons why we lost last election. His very acidic partisanship is not good for our party and our country.

There you go again, twisting Obama’s campaign assertions. Obama campaigned on change to find the common ground as a nation. Do you realize that one of the greatest achievements of this nation is when we as a people found a way to compromise for the good of the country?! Indeed, Obama accused the Bush administration of being wrong on the Iraq war and the torture treatment of Gitmo prisoners. But Obama didn’t promise not to listen to the Republicans. Maybe it’s all lip service in the end, but I think he is struggling to find the middle ground.
The stimulus is a compromise of spending and tax cuts. The Republicans believe it should be mostly tax cuts and minimal spending. The Democrats want more spending and less tax cuts.
We quite frankly need both. We are now fighting over how much percentage of each. And we’re willing to stoop down and make this country fail just for the sake of winning our side of the argument. Is that silly? We have people that are suffering from this downturn, let’s figure out quick what we need to do as a nation. Spending is partly required so that this will trigger businesses to have purpose. You can’t just give the tax cuts to businesses because people stopped spending ‘cuz quite frankly they’re afraid their jobs will be gone.
Now, if the government can create programs that will cause the businesses to bid on those jobs (such as improving the power grid of this country), then that will result in businesses hiring (not government) and hopefully that’ll help.
We also need to give tax relief to businesses that are on the verge of bankruptcy … we need to give them relief. So, we don’t loose more jobs.
So both of these things need to be done. What percentage of which program, who the hell cares?! Just do something and error on the side of being generous! I’m opposed to just giving money for no purpose. Money can be used to create jobs, that’s what we need.

We can not ask a man to do this, but our representatives. We have a great republic, and we need to teach people that it is not a democracy.

Obama said you can’t JUST listen to Rush Limbaugh and get things done. He meant you can’t JUST listen to one side (particularly an extreme side), you need to hear all sides. And then Limbaugh proves he’s right by ranting about socialism.
Limbaugh doesn’t have to worry about paying his doctor bills. People who are getting laid off because Bush let the economy go on a joyride do need to worry, and they are not going to care if their conservative ideology isn’t pure enough.
Obama is a pragmatist. He wants to get things fixed. Limbaugh is an ideologue. He wants to stick to dogma. His problem is that if Obama succeeds, it means Limbaugh’s dogma is wrong–and preserving his ideology is more important to him than saving the country. Maybe that’s good conservatism as he sees it, but it’s sure not patriotic.

People who listen to Limbaugh and believe in what he says proudly call themselves “ditto head”. That’s like putting on a sign that says “Hey, look at me! I’m stupid. It’s a funny thing: the “Obama” organization knocked off ANOTHER radio talk guy this week.
Note: I have literally NEVER listened to Rush Limbaugh, other than what of his nonsense has appeared on teevee news.
It looks to me that censorship and self-censorship in the mainstream news and on the “left” will force all commentary into right-wing places. ABC might want to think about THAT.

I don’t like Rush Limbaugh. I do like Obama. But this story has little to do, at least overtly, with racism. It has to do with attitude, politics, ratings, and $. Rush knows that if he puts out a statement saying ‘I hope Obama fails’ that the reaction will be loud. He can then go on to couch his words in many ways, as he has. The bottom line is he wants ratings because ratings = income. Politically, he has a right to want ‘liberalism’ to fail. The problem is that by stating it the way he has – that he wants Obama to fail – people hear the headline, not the explanation (of which I doubt the sincerity anyway, but at least it’s an explanation).
Limbaugh wants to be controversial. He wants people to hear the headline only and be appalled and scream bloody murder for two reasons: he can claim they’re stupid for not listening to his entire reasoning/explanation, further building himself up in the eyes of his listeners, and more importantly, it keeps him in the news.
The problem I have with Rush Limbaugh is that, no matter what Obama might do or say or how he might act, Limbaugh already has him pegged. He ‘just knows.’ He is all-seeing and all-knowing and Obama couldn’t possibly do anything he approves of – at least for the reasons he would approve it. He is so cynical and so smug and so mean-spirited that I believe he wants Obama to disagree with him. He wants Obama to get legislation passed that he disagrees with. He wouldn’t know what to do if Obama suddenly had an ‘epiphany’ and did everything Rush wanted him to do. And (after today at least), I have no time for people like that. There is no wisdom in this type of overt cynicism. This is why I feel Rush is a pathetic figure. This is why I feel sorry for him. This is why I feel sorry for his listeners – at least the ones who will only believe what he tells them and won’t think for themselves. This country was not built on cynicism. Cynicism, for the sake of cynicism, is in my opinion, un-American. There you go, Rush. Until you gain some ounce of humility, your current attitude makes you one of the most un-American people alive today. How pathetic is that?

No, the people taking out loans they could not afford were what caused the mortgage problems – pure and simple. Place blame where it belongs. If people did not buy these houses and fall for scams designed to make them believe they could afford a $300,000 house on their $30,000 a year income, the housing market would have continued to chug along as usual. People wanting what they couldn’t afford created a bubble and all bubbles eventually burst. Bush wasn’t out there strong-arming people into buying houses they couldn’t afford. He wasn’t strong-arming banks into giving loans to people who don’t qualify. He had nothing to do with the mortgage mess.

I think Rush has proposed a Bi-partisan compromise to the current stimulus package. Since the ongoing debate (and sometimes reflected on this blog) is whether the Obama stimulus plan (primarily a Keynesian economic model) will work, or whether the supply side economic model (tax cuts) will work.
Since Obama got 54% of the popular vote and McCain got 46%, Rush proposed that the $850 billion be allocated in the same percentage, i.e. take 46% and use it for tax cuts??
How about it folks? Sounds very bi-partisan and it would unite us as Americans??

Barack Obama was elected President of the United States by the people of the United States – and he was elected with a mandate to fix failed Republican policies.

There are some of us who do not believe this “stimulus” package will stimulate the economy (far from it – it will result in a scale of government waste never before witnessed in our history). Yet, Obama supporters do not look at the issue itself (the merits of the stimulus package) and are instead more inclined to insults and united, unquestioned support for Obama.
It’s a sad state of affairs in this country that so many have given up belief of the power of the individual and self-determination in favor of government coddling.

It’s funny to me that almost every post bashing Rush was a personal slam. Not once did did Rush call President Obama or his supporters idiots. The policies that failed were not truly conservative in nature. They were in fact, liberal. The Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac mess started in 1999, almost a year and a half before President Bush took office. It caused an inflationary period in the housing market and ultimately failed. But no one is saying that. It’s all blaming Bush and Rush and all “Right Wing Greed.”
It was Left Wing Greed that wanted poor people to own homes. Noble but not really all that smart. Credit was loosened so that low income families can buy homes. The problem is that there were any number of people who received loans for money that they could never afford to repay. They made bad decisions and ultimately failed. The added money to the economy that was infused by this practice, ultimately led to the Wall Street failure.
Remember though, it is not personal.

Rightwingers hate anyone whose different then them or has an education. They would have really hated a indivdual born 2009 years ago who loved the poor,disavowed the rich,war,hatred and bigotry. Label me a right-winger if you want, but I believe that this stimulus package will be a big failure in that it will NOT stimulate jobs (outside of new government and union jobs). It will fail, and we who pay taxes (and future generation of taxpayers) will be left holding to bill.
Silver lining is gains for the Republicans in the 2010 congressional election cycle as many Americans begin to realize that this “stimulus” package has done little to move the economy forward.

Again: Rush does not support Obama’s economic policies (nor do I). In this regard, he hopes Obama fails (as do I). In other areas I hope he succeeds: protection of U.S. citizens, appropriate safeguards of our borders, growth of the U.S. economy, etc. But I don’t believe this “stimulus” package (in current form) is good policy, so if he does pursue it, I hope he fails.

And for him to say liberalism is at fault when we had 8 years of a Republican president with 6 of those years a Repub Congress.They worked closely to de-regulate, award no-bid contracts and privitize many previously held government jobs, at higher cost and lower quality. At the same time, Bush grew the government while railing against big government.
Limbaugh is a multi-millionaire who cares nothing about the average American.

Frank: The President’s ability to get things done is based on the laws Congress prepares for him to sign. There are very limited powers that come from the President alone. I’m no fan of Obama’s but I don’t believe at any time during the campaign he led his supporters to believe that he would be governing by bypassing Congress. He’ll have an easier time of things with a Dem Congress working with him, but by no means does he create laws himself. And if Congress moves slow, then he will have to sit and wait until they produce legislation for him to sign (or veto).

Frank, as I said in the post, the president either passes or vetos bills. He does not create them or pass them in congress. He can make suggestions and throw his support behind legislation (like Obama’s doing now, like Bush did with the stimulus package and the bailout) but he does not make laws – congress does.

I don’t think we are far apart in our thinking, we are just on different pages of the same book. I DO NOT want America to fail. I believe in the power of the individual as opposed to reliance on government and the heavy-handedness of government. I don’t want to Americans to lose jobs; my 401k tanked just like most everyone else’s. When I say “I hope this stimulus package fails” it is because what is being paraded as a “stimulus” package is actually a significant downpayment for an ideologicial, left-leaning agenda. Read the details of the package and you will understand why there are many on the Right who are not in favor of this package. At the highest level it is implied this package is intended to jump-start the economy to put people back to work (jobs are the heart of any economy, not government spending). So how is that bailing out states who don’t manage their budgets properly, funding for contraceptives, $400M for climate change research, etc. contribute growing our economy? I DO NOT want more government control of our economy, nationalization of our banking system, nationalization of healthcare, etc. Government got us into this mess through intervention (through imposition of the “Community Reinvestment Act”) and needs to get out of the way. It is making a bad situation worse and leveraging a “crisis” to promote ideological policies (call it “socialism” if you like).

People like rush and hannity who’s personal finance afford them the ease at hoping Obama fail, Rush Limbaugh signed a contract in 2001 for $297 million dollars to broadcast through summer 2009,that’s $33 million per year, some of you are but one paycheck or one pink slip from the poor house,please don’t let people the likes of rush and hannity seal our doom.

Frank – Relax. Anyone can propose a bill. Any citizen can call up their congressman or state legislator and propose an idea for a bill. Only a lawmaker can actually introduce (sponsor) legislation. So if the President has an idea for legislation, he still needs to have someone in Congress sponsor the bill in order for it to be introduced as legislation. The President does not have “huge” powers, which is a good thing, and very farsighted by those who designed our system of government.

What is causing this current economic crisis? One basic simple thing, excessive unpaid debt on our Banks ledgers, that is resulting from people not being able to pay their mortgages on time.
What is the conservative answer? Tax breaks to the wealthy and allow the Banks to fail.
Even George Bush knew that we had to move to buy up some of this debt to allow for the Banks to be able to start lending again. Credit these days is on a short leash, and in spite of the $700 Billion TARP, the ledgers are still overwhelmed in mortage debt.
Turn our back on it as Rush Limbaugh would have us do? Call people names?
Will that solve the problem?
God help us, we need swift action from our leaders not nonesense from the likes of those whose only concern is increasing their radio or TV ratings.

Some people just can’t hold two different thoughts at the same time. Reasonable people want Obama to stay in good health and live in the White House for the next 4 years. But at the same time, people who believe in small government want Obama and the “big government crowd” to FAIL in their attempt to continue the big government policies that are so destructive of individual liberty. I hope Obama and all of these big government supporters FAIL and FAIL BADLY in the policy wars. I wish all the best for Obama PERSONALLY.

But as Bush looks forward to leaving office, the nation is stuck with the results of many of the Bush administration’s failed policies.
To mark the passing of Bush’s last full year in office, ThinkProgress rounded up statistics on some of the most significant effects of Bush rule in 2008:
– Number Of U.S. Troops Killed in Iraq: 322.
– Number Of U.S. Troops Killed in Afghanistan: 151.
– Number Of Jobs Lost: 1.9 million.
– Number Of Banks Federal Government Now Owns Stock In: 206.
– Number Of Uninsured Americans: 47.5 million.
– Change In Housing Prices: declined 18 percent.
– Change In Health Insurance Premiums: increased 5 percent.
– Change In Number Of Delinquent Mortgages: increased 75 percent.
– Change In Use Of Food Stamps: increased 17 percent.
– Change In Dow Jones Industrial Average: declined 35 percent.
– Change In Bush Approval Rating: declined 9 percent to 29 percent.
Paul Krugman noted recently that the Bush administration’s failings have often been obscured in the short-run because the White House was particularly effective at inventing an alternate reality that it then “impressed on the public.”
In 2008, however, despite its repeated attempts to wish it away, the reality of its domestic policy failures caught up with Bush administration and the nation.

Of course Rush and his neocons want our new POTUS to fail. Rush is only doing what his extreme right wing GOPers need him to do so they can have at least a slight chance to win and regain power in the next election.

Rush Limbaugh is taking heat from all sides for his comments about hoping President Obama’s administration is a failure.
Bill Bennett disagreed with his fellow conservative and said Limbaugh was wrong to say he wishes Obama will fail.
Now Politico reports that Republican House Member Phil Gingrey has a Message for Limbaugh: “Back Off”
“I think that our leadership, Mitch McConnell and John Boehner, are taking the right approach,” Gingrey said. “I mean, it’s easy if you’re Sean Hannity or Rush Limbaugh or even sometimes Newt Gingrich to stand back and throw bricks.
You don’t have to try to do what’s best for your people and your party. You know you’re just on these talk shows and you’re living well and plus you stir up a bit of controversy and gin the base and that sort of that thing.
But when it comes to true leadership, not that these people couldn’t be or wouldn’t be good leaders, they’re not in that position of John Boehner or Mitch McConnell.”
Media critic Michael Wolff thinks Limbaugh is just being played by Obama:
Right now Rush is being played. The Obama dinner with conservative columnists, shortly before his inauguration, was as much about excluding Rush as coddling the columnists. Not only did the conservatives fawn, but Rush fumed.
It got under his skin. Indeed, the rumor that he might in fact be there (likely coming from the Obama camp), and then his evident lack of an invitation, highlighted the slight.
He’s tried to make it out to be a political point ever since, but mostly he sounds like a guy who’s hurt he didn’t get invited to the hot party.

Limbaugh just signed on with Clearwater for 5 more years are something around $300 – $500 million dollars. So he’s just earning his money. Bush’s approval rating of 25% means there are 75 million dolts in America, and if they only spend $5 apiece over 5 years, they will pay his salary, and the rest is revenue for his company. Pure capitalism. HL Mencken once said, “Never overestimate the intelligence of the American people”.

Fifty-three percent of American voters voted for Barack Obama; 46% voted for John McCain, and 1% voted for wackos. Give that 1% to President Obama. Let’s say the vote was 54% to 46%.
As a way to bring the country together and at the same time determine the most effective way to deal with recessions, under the Obama-Limbaugh Stimulus Plan of 2009: 54% of the $900 billion — $486 billion — will be spent on infrastructure and pork as defined by Mr. Obama and the Democrats; 46% –
$414 billion — will be directed toward tax cuts, as determined by me [Rush Limbaugh].
Limbaugh: The economic crisis is an opportunity to unify people, if we set aside the politics.
The leader of the Democrats and the leader of the Republicans (me, according to Mr. Obama) can get it done.
This will have the overwhelming support of the American people. Let’s stop the acrimony. Let’s start solving our problems, together. Why wait one more day?

This is absurd, Rush is right again! The CHANGE syndrome heard around the World.
