Rev. Wright Follows Obama to D.C.
ABC News’ Tahman Bradley reports: This Sunday, while Barack Obama polishes off his inauguration address and enjoys a concert at the Lincoln Memorial, his controversial former pastor Rev. Jeremiah Wright will speak at Howard University’s chapel service.
Wright usually appears once a year at the Washington, D.C., school’s chapel as part of a rotation of distinguished speakers and members of the clergy. Wright’s fiery style and thought-provoking messages typically draw a capacity crowd when he appears at the historically black university each year.
Wright’s appearance in Washington, which comes just two days before Obama is to be sworn in as the nation’s 44th president, will likely draw enormous attention. During Wright’s appearance at the National Press Club last April, the world clearly saw that the pastor doesn’t really hold his tongue. Wright, his image tarnished by incendiary comments he’d made while pastor of Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago — comments that got injected into the 2008 presidential race — criticized then-Sen. Obama’s rebuke of his earlier controversial statements. In response, Obama denounced Wright, and he and his family resigned their membership of Trinity church.
Howard University’s official inauguration activities will include a symposium next Monday hosted by Spike Lee and a viewing campaign brunch on Inauguration Day.
It’s not clear whether Wright has been invited or plans to attend any of Howard’s official inauguration events.

How much press and attention does this draw away from the actual inauguration? And what happens if Wright decides to show up at an official inauguration event? No doubt the press will be gunning for an Obama/Wright confrontation…

What confrontation? Their last one was a sham. It was a sacrifice by Wright so he could give Obama an out from the controversy of being in Wright’s church. In other words, the American people have been had.

It’s all about the Rev. Wright first and foremost. Anything to keep your self in the national media. Serving God is a distant second after serving himself. And we wonder why organized “religion” turns off the average American. Find another job. Pastoring clearly is not it. your doing more harm than good.

To this day I scratch my head and wonder what Obama ever saw in Wright that would allow him to stay in the same room with the guy. However, those days may be over, and it looks like Obama is a guy that sticks with his decisions, which is an excellent attribute to have in a leader, especially when the decisions are based on doing the right thing. Unfortunately, at the end of it all Wright is a loser, looks like he always will be. End of story.

aww..twenty years as an active member is hardly forgotton sheep. Obama should get the Oscars and Wright be the sacrificial lamb for America. When? only time will tell. So far Obama has been on a long winning streak. Amen Amen. “Damn to America” rings throughout the nation alright with Obama leading the calvary singing hail to Halfrica.

Tolerence of murder and inappropriate sexual orientation is demoralizing and de-moralizing for America and Americans!
When PEBO does not protect the “least of these” and condones an ignorance of anatomy he is not wise but just politically pragmatic!
Roll on 2012! PEBO and the far left-wing so called prgressives are certainly de-moralizing America and Americans with their pseudo tolerance!

Obama lovers include:
1. Radicals
2. Liberals
4. Irresponsible
Those in categories 1 and 2 are who they are, and hate everything that made America great.
But they should be afraid of those in Category 3. When the young American’s realize they’ve been had by the elites, MTV, etc. They will come back with a vengence.
Posted by: teo | January 13, 2009, 12:28 am 12:28 am
It is apparent that Reverend Wright’s warped views of America are still an integral, influential part of the Obamas’ beliefs. As Wright begins to open up again, we will learn more about the true feelings of the Obamas.
Posted by: Mihann | January 13, 2009, 12:29 am 12:29 am
Judging from pictures, Reverend Wright looks to be more white than Obama, who is half white. I’d say he’s at least 75% white. Of course, this means that Wright is just another white racist.
Posted by: jdoe | January 13, 2009, 12:29 am 12:29 am
I voted for Obama. Reverend Wright is a marine and probably loves this country more than many of you in his own way. Obama doesn’t believe in any of the incendiary stuff that Rev. Wright said. But I do think Obama used Rev. Wright’s church to establish himself as a politician. Every politician needs a base. Obama was from Hawaii so he needed a base in the mainland. He found that by joining Trinity, marrying Michele and rooting himself in the black community of Southside Chicago. So Obama definitely used Rev. Wright and his church. But that is ok. I am glad he did.

I saw that speech he did in front of the press club. It was a big sham. We have all been had. What better way to clear Obama out of the mess he was in after first defending Wright then to get the Rev. to “flake” himself out in front of the world and give the Chosen One an “out”.
Totally brilliant. But a sham, nonetheless……

Johhny B. Good: “So Obama definitely used Rev. Wright and his church. But that is ok. I am glad he did. ”
The problem with liars is that you don’t know when they are saying the truth or when they are lying. How do you know he used Wright and not YOU and that his true ideas are more aligned with Wright’s?

Gawd, I’ve enjoyed watching these blogs for the last couple of months. You all were SOOOOO sure that “it’ll all come out and then Obama will be finished” etc. etc. yada yada…. Where IS IT?!?! I remember that whack job Corsi coming back from Africa and telling everyone on hate-radio that he had the goods on Obama, had proof that Obama was trying to help turn Ethiopia into a Sharia-Muslim nation. It was going up on his website the next day. WHERE IS IT? The answer: NOWHERE! Your silly predictions have all come up snake-eyes. But, like all good righties, you have no memory of past failures, but continue to smugly predict your enemy’s imminent downfall “really soon.” Pathetic. You have that in common with the Muslim extremists in the Middle East, who are always talking in dramatic terms about how much of a blow they’re dealing their opponents, when everyone knows it’s just hot air. I think you guys should be voted honorary Middle Easters…
Does it occur to you that when your predictions are completely wrong time after time, maybe you should do something different? Like get an education? Study history? Just wondering….

Posted by: usa | January 13, 2009, 1:19 am 1:19 am
usa: Clinton’s people were competent and did good work. I reserve the term “hacks” for people like Cheney, Rumsfeld, and Ashcroft, who had a corrupt agenda that had nothing to do with serving the country. I’m fine with many of the former Clinton people. The point is this: “change” means “change back to sanity from the insanity of the past eight years.” Clinton derailed himself with the Lewinsky affair. Were it not for that, his presidency would be looked on by historians as a great success.

usa: You only know what you’ve heard from other righties about Wright. The truth is, Obama rarely heard the kinds of sounds bites that you nuts keep bringing up, because Wright didn’t preach them very often. The bottom line is, either you believe Obama is a militant black nationalist or you don’t. Most people don’t. If you turn out to be right, you can do the victory dance, but if I were you, I wouldn’t be in a hurry to put on the sequined cowboy boots.

Posted by: nononsense08 | January 13, 2009, 2:32 am 2:32 am
President-Elect Obama has invited the first woman in history to preach at the Inaugural Prayer Service, which dates back to George Washington. The Rev. Dr. Sharon Watkins is the General Minister and President of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), a denomination of about 700,000 members. Having met Rev. Watkins, I can say that she is a bright and articulate woman, an individual of great compassion, and an energetic and insightful leader. It’s too bad this very capable and really just normal minister is being all but ignored for her historic contribution to this long inaugural tradition.
Compared to the message Dr. Watkins will deliver to the new president, Rev. Wright, whatever he says, will be a side-show.

Thank you George Bush. Due to your arrogance, ignorance and crooked friends, we now have an out and out communist to lead the US. Obama will tear down all of America’s strengths not to mention the border will be wide open with untold millions more bad people coming into the US-no not the innocent tomatoe pickers but those who prey on the American people. Why do you think Calif lost over 135,000 people last year-illegal immigration that is why! People are tired of their children living in a nation flooded with illegal dope and crime coming across our border which you, Bush did nothing about-letting all Americans suffer even the Mexican Americans who are here legally and being hurt also. Your legacy is just this. You gave us two good justices, ruined our southern border security, got us into an insane foreign adventure and worst of all, gave us a communist for President!!!
Posted by: rockychance | January 13, 2009, 2:42 am 2:42 am
What are they having, a rascist’s convention at Howard University? Spike Lee is a clone of Al Sharpton and the poverty pimp Jesse Jackson. Wright knows his student, Obama, still is part of the “family”. rockychance is correct
all the way—why doesn’t George move to Mexico City, he represented the people in Mexico more than he did the people in this country. He doesn’t understand apparently that he was just a tool for that crooked government, La Raza, and all the other Mexican thugs.
The democrats are called “useful idiots” by the commies and Bush is probably labeled the same by the Mexicans.

You know gay stuff, gitmo, global warming, getting our “image” corrected abroad, getting the troops home in a few months, charge into Pakistan to get OBL and yes even putting folks in the present admininstration on trial for the torture of those poor freedom fighters.
Theres no need to fear the economy we can just print up some more and take a few more bucks from rich guys like Wright.

Mr. Obama lacks the dignity and will never get the respect due him as the President of the U.S. Of course, Bush and Clinton were both not much better. We are on a downward spiral in America. We have lowered the standards for the individual who becomes President; we accept senators and politicans who break the law; Congress doesn’t do it’s job and we sit back and watch. I vote for another revolution. If you truly believe you are being trampled on by the Federal government, stand up and protest!

I find it ironic that some of the people posting here rant and rave about how hateful Reverend Wright is and then proceed to make hateful comments about Bishop Robinson, gay people and Obama himself. The following biblical quotes apply I think: “Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye, and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye.” (Matthew: 7:1-5) and “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you (Matthew 7:12).” In my mind self righteousness is not a virtue but a sin against man and God.

Idiots like the so called “Rev” Wright shouldn’t receive this much attention..
I am a conservative-black man….. and I didn’t vote for Obama but I won’t have sour grapes either. I voted for George Bush and I don’t have sour grapes now.
Fellow conservatives “learn from this” we got our butts handed to us this election becuase we continue the same strategy dividing other and trying to put them against one another. It didn’t work and that change starts with us..
Obama is the most unqualified person to ever hold the office of President but “oh well he is there now and America spoke loudly”… We have to think bigger than just democrat or republican. And it isn’t right to allege guilt by association… Wright is an idiot and so is Obama but they are both liberal idiots in their own rights not because they know each other. Wright may be a racist person who habors hate for America or the way it is ran but that doesn’t make Obama of the exact same mind…
We have to respect the ability to reason within all human beings…

I honestly would like this to see this guy tarred and feathered. He has taken impressionable black youth and told them that the US gov’t created the AIDS virus to murder them. He has convinced a huge congregation in Chicago that the US is the worst terrorist nation in the world and that America is run by greedy, rich, white folk.
However, during all of his racist rants he never once mentions that one man has given more to the continent of Africa then anyone else in the history of the world- George W. Bush. That little fact must just slip his mind.
It probably doesn’t fit into his sham of conning people into believing he is some great spiritual leader (who now lives in a 10,000 sg ft, $2 million, mansion surrounded by greedy white folk).
Barry and his racist rev are both con men.

Honest Guy – Did you mean: temerity???
Dictionary – Buy one, Use it, Love it.
You said “.. You people have the tamarity to insult our new President.”
I counter with – You people have the temerity to insult our outgoing President???
By what scale do you measure the last eight (8) years? It is only in the last 18 months that we have gone down the tubes, and that was because we lost sight of our conservative roots and pandered to the liberals.
President Bush is in no way 100% responsible for the mess we have made for ourselves. Hubris, greed and a do-nothing congress are responsible for at least 75%. Please remember two things about the position of POTUS.
First, it is a temporary position, eight (8) years at best.
Second, the POTUS does not work in a vacuum. Everything must be approved/funded by congress and adjudicated by the Supreme Court.
To blame President Bush because you are not happy is infantile and to take the incoming administration at their word is irresponsible.
As you feel free to vent all of your grievances on the outgoing President, I now feel free to do the same to the incoming one. As Obama has been preaching doom and gloom trying to exacerbate a temporary business downturn into a crisis for his own purposes, through his almost daily news conferences etc… I now hold him responsible for the Obamadepression of 2009.
I refer to him as Obama as you, and others like you did not, and don’t, have the courtesy to refer to President Bush in the proper manner.

So, when Obama invites Ayers to the White House, will Ayers claim victory for his cause?

rockychance: ” People are tired of their children living in a nation flooded with illegal dope”
Solution: restore authority to parents so they can keep their kids out of dope and crime the old fashion way.

Ron Powell: “… and Bush is probably labeled the same by the Mexicans.”
What exactly did Bush do for the Mexicans? There was no immigration reform and illegal immigrants are being sent back in droves on a weekly or daily basis.
Also, in order to prevent liberals from holding power for decades or longer, republicans need to be more pragmatic. Seal the borders, yes. The USA has a right to do so. But do not automatically give the hispanic vote to the democrats. There are millions of immigrant children being born here that will vote tomorrow. If republicans keep going this way, the party might eventually disintegrate. Family values wise, conservatives share more with americans of hispanic heritage than with liberal americans in general.

All the racist racism that has been and still is in this country and some of you want to throw your nose in the air because you are so appaled by what Rev Wright said. All the racist racism that is and has been swept under the rug and some of you want to talk about what Rev Wright said.PLEASE!!!!!

Rev Wright: Why do you HATE yourself so much? If Obama is 50% white, you Wright are probably 70%+ white. In other words, some in your family line were probably european whites. If so, by hating european whites so much, you are wishing you did not exist. Which I must say would have been a good idea. But instead of all that hate, accept who you are. Stop preaching racial hate and more so if you are a Christian pastor; that was not Christ’s message.

President Bush:
God bless you. Thank you for keeping our nation safe since 9/11. In the days following that attack, you were upfront with America; you said “this will now be the focus of my administration”. You have succeeded.
God bless you and your family.

Someone said referrin to Obama’s supporters: “Where are all these fools who were all over this place in election time shrieking GREATEST PRESIDENT EVER! They are nowhere to be found, are they?
Many of them where in Africa blogging away for Obama and probably paid for by his campaign; they had to quit their day job consising of sending phishing e-mails to americans.

Oh the Rev Wright…
I am a long time supporter of Rev. Wright. I have had the privilege of knowing his family. His mother was my high school vice principal. I am also an African American entrenched in some of the traditions of the black church. Many of the comments of Rev Wright have been said in some shape of form by other ministers and other black leaders. Many people do not understand the figurative meaning of some of these statements. Many comments of black leaders are about the policies and racism that is entrenched in American society. He articulates the frustration of many African Americans who served this country and then could not be served in various establishments in this same country of American. Every Sunday in some church in America the frustration, persecution hurt and pain of African people is articulated.
If a Jewish person living in Genrmany said they hated Germany who they be cursed like Dr. Wright. No, everyone who think the Jewish people have a right to their pain and frustration. Well so do African Americans… We will never forget. If we want to articulate our pain and frustration with the country in which we live, serve, pay taxes, etc., so be it. That is the beauty of America, free speech.

So what??? Call me when he’s actually speaking at a Barack Obama event…now THAT would be news! Only in this circus tent of a media would the fact that they are in the same city at the same time garner any attention whatsoever. Give me a break!!!

Philly in the House
Please quit calling yourself african-American. Unless of course you were born in Africa and have immigrated here. If you haven’t, then stop trying to claim the victim by proclaiming ties to a continent you have never lived on and probably never seen. If you were born in the US, then you are American, that’s it.
As for rev wright, he is scam artist, a low-life. He is profiting from exploiting people’s fears and needs. He has lied and told gullible followers of his racist church that the US created the AIDS virus. He has called America the worst terrorist nation in the world. He has said America deserved 911.
If he hates this great country so much, then why doesn’t he go back to Africa?
I’ve got some guesses. Could it be his 2 million dollar, 10,000sq foot mansion that he built. Or his luxury automobiles? He certainly doesn’t seem to mind “greedy rich white folk” when he can call them neighbors.

As a former US Marine who put his life on the line for America, and who assisted in preserving the health and life of a US President (Johnson), Rev Right has earned more rights to his ‘FREE SPEECH’ opinions than ALL the bigots who continue to target this bold American!
If more Americans were as vigilant as Rev Right in holding the nation accountable during the last 8 years, the US WOULD NOT be the basket case it is today.
Problem is that there are too many under educated Americans. Those small minds can only obsesses with mere words and the ‘small’. Little wonder US has elected and re-elected a total incompetent as their WORSE PRESIDENT to destroy America.

I could no more disown my Pastor than I could my own Mother – wouldn’t that statement make him STILL Obama’s pastor?
Posted by: richardm | January 13, 2009, 6:25 pm 6:25 pm
Patriot,
Although your service (and rev racist’s) are admirable, that does not give either of you the right to go unchallenged in claiming that the US gov’t created the AIDS virus to kill innocent blacks. Or to say that the US is the worst terrorist nation in the world. Most Americans disagree with both of the statements because they are flat out LIES.
Rev racist is a black joe goebells. He used pure propaganda to elevate barry’s status, and his own, within chicago to help line his pockets with millions of dollars. Have you seen his new country club mansion? I bet he doesn’t have too many black neighbors now. Way to “keep it real” rev racist!!!

Wright is right about 9/11! The US has been guilty about the charge of imperialism for quite some time, unfortunately for its citizens.

This obviously gets into a “very sensitive area.” But Be Clear, the following goes “Double Down” for “Spooks Who Sit By The Door” (and possible ‘jump in and participate.’) They are “Lackey’s” to the “Hard Right-Edge Fringe” who would choose to racially malign the President Elect; “There has been a recurring refrain from the Anti-Obama Folks, who have claimed that; “Any Negative or Complaint about President Elect Obama is regarded as a ‘racial slight’ or the party offering the ‘argument’ is assumed to be a racist.” To clear the air on this matter, let’s begin with an understanding of “where we are today.” First off, the Nov. 2008 Election DOES NOT make today ‘The Post Racism Era!’ Racism of various types are as ‘alive and well today’ as they were in the Pre-Civil Rights Act era (1964.) (Truth-Be-Known; despite the election of an African American President in this cycle, U. S. Race Relations are still “A-Work-In-Progress.”) We should recall, there were some folks who were “Not Necessarily” Big Fans of President George W. Bush. So, on to the matter of Anti-Obama sentiments; Consider this, Any Negatives or Complaints lodged against the sitting President G. W. Bush were NEVER questioned as to their RACIAL INTENT.’ And until “The Same” can be (undoubtedly) said, related to President Elect Barack Hussein Obama’s detractors, we have to be careful as to HOW we go about issuing Negatives and/or Complaints about the President Elect. That seems ‘reasonable and quite civil’ to me. But I do realize that could be somewhat overwhelming and extremely difficult for some others. (It’s just something we will have to continually ‘work on.’) We may want to begin by avoiding stereotypes and vulgar overtones. Hopefully you find this ‘status report’ to be helpful, as it is offered ‘with good intentions!’

USA… the only reason you bring up the price tag of our First Lady’s dress is because the RNC made a STUPID move in buying “Talking Points Barbie” designers clothes that by the way SHE WORE HAPPILY. If they all had been on the same page with the self proclaimed “Hockey Mom”, maybe they would have shopped at Walmart instead.
On to important matters. This country has turned a corner on a shameful past in electing Obama. I’m proud too.

Yeah, liberal jerks with your….your….your….EDUCATIONS!! I hate to break it to you fella…an inability to effectively communicate and a poor grasp on the English language ARE indicators of one’s ability to function as POTUS. I am embarassed for you for thinking otherwise. And I am embarassed for my country for having elected that man-child. TWICE.

Personally, I don’t have a problem with Rev. Wright or rightwing nut radio listeners. They both preach words of hate. The ones I have a problem with are “so called” christians who wear their morality and religion on their sleeve, yet their actions speak otherwise.

I believe the reason Obama stayed at Rev. Wrights church was cause he liked what he heard. I think you will hear more of the real Obama in days to come. Heaven help us. I turn off tv when he comes on.

I do not like Obamas speaking techniques. He lacks passion and looks grumpy and stern like Rev. Wright when he speaks. Watch how he hardly ever smiles or jokes. So serious like he has come to save the workd. Yeah right. We the people will save this country when we get a clue and begin to read and think again. Hope that happens then you will boo Obama

This whole Obama craze is ridiculously hysterical. This country is now being run by a maniacal despot handing out free lobotomies like candy.
I hope all Obama followers drown in his sea of corruption.
Welcome to the biggest cult in the world.
I wonder if this will eventually lead to Obama having sex with minors.
He makes me sick.

Most of the negative comments about Jeremiah Wright are based on ignorance. Rev. Wright is a man of God and true men of God don’t hold their tongues. They are brave because fear doesn’t enter into their souls. If you don’t like what he said, that’s your right. But, watch and wait. We’ll see who’s crazy.
