The Note, 1/22/09: Clean Breaks — Obama Starts With What He’s Not

By RICK KLEIN What we’ve learned about the Obama era in less than 48 hours: Sometimes symbols matter — other times, not so much.  President Obama may have some unlikely allies — but will be missing at least one who was once thought likely. TurboTax will not be the software of choice in the new White House.  Second times can be charmed — or just annoying ways to silence bloggers and lawyers.

Madam Secretary has a certain ring to it, too.  Washington is stirring to life at Obama’s direction — Cabinet secretaries being confirmed, Capitol Hill hearings on major policy priorities, big changes handed down at the White House, in both style and in substance. It’s momentum time for the new president. Executive orders that fulfill campaign pledges, or introduce himself to the public as just plain different than the guy that preceded him — that’s the easy part. So far, almost every move Obama has taken has been to undercut, gut, or reverse something former President Bush did — welcome moves, surely, to a country that was ready to see that helicopter leave. New movement Thursday, per ABC’s Jake Tapper: “Later this morning, President Obama will sign new executive orders that will, among other tasks, shut down the detainee center at Guantanamo Bay by Jan. 22, 2010; shut down the CIA detention centers around the world; establish a process with Defense Secretary Gates and the attorney general through which the Obama administration will decide what to do with the detainees going forward; and require all U.S. interrogators to adhere to rules in the Army Field Manual.”  Obama looks abroad in his second full day in office: Meetings with his national security and foreign policy teams, capped by an appearance at the State Department at 2:40 p.m. ET, alongside Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton. Look for the Gitmo order as part of the president’s 10:30 a.m. ET meeting with retired military officers. And the first Robert Gibbs briefing (really, this time) around 12:30 p.m. ET. The first full day in office made the point that someone else is now in the most famous of homes.

“Madam Secretary has a certain ring to it, too.”
As if something has changed in the title from the last 8 years?
That sentence is as far as I got and am going to get with this obama love fest.

No more need for lobbyists if you employ them. No need for pork barrel attachments if your legislation is pork. No more money for staffers already making over $100K/yr. So how many does that impact? Let’s put a tax evader in charge of the IRS. Let’s hire a person who was fired for lying and cheating to head up foreign relations. No need to hold terrorists prisoner. They never have a nice day at Guitmo and they have feelings too, boo hoo.

Posted by: mmonroeliveson | January 22, 2009, 9:04 am 9:04 am

Obama starting his presidency with what he is not? One example of what he is not is open to racial differences.
First, the pastor at his inaugural talks about the “yellow” ones that need to “mellow” IE: don’t work so hard to succeed, you aer making the others look bad. If you are brown; you can “stick around”. White? You are a pathetic loser that have been saved by the grace of the messiah Obama. You can now “think right”.
Second, we now have Robert Reich stating that he doesn’t want the stimulus money to go to “white construction workers”.
Obama surrounds himself with people that are racist, sexist, and elitist. He is a disgrace.

Posted by: James | January 22, 2009, 9:12 am 9:12 am

Who’s Robert Reich?

Posted by: Amy | January 22, 2009, 9:23 am 9:23 am

Amy, Robert Reich is one of Mr. Obama’s economic advisors. He is a Clinton retread and from his statements about preventing the stimulus from going to “white construction workers”, he appears to be a racist.
Do poor white families not deserve any assistance?

“No need to hold terrorists prisoner. They never have a nice day at Guitmo and they have feelings too, boo hoo.”

Silky; In your usual manner you attempt to dismiss anyone else’s opinion as ignorance by making up some stupid catty response. I don’t expect any of the detainees will be released into the US society. I do recognize the potential for some of them to repeat the kind of terroristic acts we witnessed on 9/11 after they’ve sneaked in.

Can you imagine what would happen to a Republican if he said the same thing as Robert Reich? What if a Republican used the terms “yellow”, “brown”, and “white” in the same way that Obama’s preacher uses them?
Media bias is a danger to our democracy. We need a press that will hold both parties accountable, not advocate for one and atatck the other.

Dear Mr. President sir; Kindly consider that it’s about the economy. You can back off on the campaigning for now, you’re the president, the evil Bush administration is over, and we need you to help with the things we need most, income, security, food, shelter. You don’t have to personally fix the economy. We are willing to work our way out of trouble. What we need most of all right now is to be confident in our government. You can gain our confidence by showing some confidence in us. After all it wasn’t us little guys that screwed things up, it was the ones you gave the TARP money to. Thanks in advance for your consideration.

Can’t view the video from work and it sounds like the link is bad, anyway. I also know that he, while one of the most highly-reguarded business minds of the last 10-15 years, is one voice of many that Obama listens to. That’s not something that I, as a white guy, am too concerned about. Assuming he said what you say he said, there is also context to consider.

“Madam Secretary has a certain ring to it, too.”
biased hacks – When you said “As if something has changed in the title from the last 8 years?” it is obvious that a) you can’t count – Secty Rice began in that position on January 26, 2005 b) Secty Albright held the position for 4 years also in the Clinton Administration and c) “A certain ring to it” means exactly what it says – YOU are the one inserting biased anti-remarks. Anyone elected High School President and addressed as President Billy Smith of Local High School knows “it has a certain ring to it” or anyone becoming Fire Chief knows “it as a certain ring to it”. Please become part of the solution to our country’s problems – not a gasoline thrower looking for a spark to ignite your negative thinking. And there’s nothing wrong with this love fest – a lot of people who saw GWB elected not once, BUT TWICE suffered way to long and in too much pain – don’t put exceeding joy and happiness down to please yourself.

Please speak for yourself we were not all glad to see that helicopter leave. I in no way was glad to see Bush leave because with Obama I certainly feel naked in this country now with him in control and the Congress we have. The media is the main reason that he was elected and I hope when he goes down and tears this country apart the media goes with it as well.

As Bill Bennett, author of the Book of Virtues once said, “elections matter.” Obama is exercising his legitimate powers. Deep breaths, everyone. Perhaps someday the 50% who rarely or never vote will understand the significance of this quote.

Posted by: kseyetie | January 22, 2009, 10:42 am 10:42 am

Jill,
The state of Maine is as white as it gets, and we voted for Obama. I consider Obama the first President who really represents me. His values are my values. The Bushes have a summer residence here but I don’t think they understand what most Mainers are going through. I don’t know what the problem is with the guy in Arkansas, but if the Republicans understood his problems any better than Barack, he would have been better off by now, wouldn’t he? We’ve had two Bushes and one former Arkansa governor in the last twenty years.

Posted by: Amy | January 22, 2009, 10:42 am 10:42 am

The principles on which this country was founded were opposition. Opposition to taxation without representation, opposition to denial of freedom of religion, opposition to a general lack of freedoms in the sense that we were subjects of the queen. Dissent is at the core of American values. You dissent with my opinions. I dissent with your opinions. we both will have to live with the affects of change. Change sometimes brings undesireable results. In this case we have been safe for 7 years doing what we were doing. Why change? The rule of thumb is if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. The issue is national security, but you want to make it about rights, rights of prisoners. Make no mistake, the only right even a citizen prisoner enjoys even within our judicial system is the right to a fair and speedy trial and legal representation. Court appointed attorneys generally do no more than negotiate plea bargains. All other human rights are forfeited if there’s enough evidence to be placed under arrest. The detainees at Guitmo aren’t US citizens, so how is it that they have more rights than our citizens?

Ignorance is such a wonderful thing.. as exemplified by the anti-Obama bigots posting here. After having a spoiled, war-duty-evading, C-student son of a privileged family, we are “microscoping” for imperfections in the all-too-human members of the new administration. In this hypocritical world, where we find “die-hard conservative” politicians and preachers buying and attempting gay sex in their backrooms and airport bathrooms, it is not surprising to find a collection of likely perverts and criminals casting stones at the teams being assembled by the new administration. Get off your high wooden rocking horses and go find something useful to do, like play with yourself! It should give you more pleasure!

Posted by: Al Schweitzer | January 22, 2009, 10:43 am 10:43 am

I don’t think some of you are being fair to the President. First I applaud the man for freezing wages of staffers and vowing more transparency to government. Heck, the CEO of the company I work for won’t even make those kinds of moves. Instead, they lay the workers off while they give management more bonuses. Second, its really not all on his shoulders to fix the economy. Its really easy to blame the government and deregulation for the financial mess we’re in. But if we’re really honest, we created it ourselves by buying things we couldn’t afford and putting everything on credit when most folks couldn’t manage their lives. It was bound to come crashing down eventually. You can’t keep digging that deep a hole and expect it to all be fine.

Posted by: WhatChange? | January 22, 2009, 10:44 am 10:44 am

James – Robert Reich did not state that stimulus funds should not go to “white construction workers”. He said the industry is largely dominated by male white construction workers and he believes that “contractors should be required to provide at least 20 percent of jobs to the long-term unemployed and to people withincomes at or below 200 percent of the federal poverty level.” In this way, the stimulus would address more unemployed and underemployed women and minority groups who are less represented in that industry. His proposal targets an income level not a specific set aside for specific groups. You should have actually read the article instead of misrepresenting Dr. Reich.

It’s incredible we have a president now who is immediately working on reversing many of the things Bush has done. Closing secret detention centers, that’s just amazing. So far I’d say he’s doing a phenominal job. Far better than anything McCain would be doing.

Posted by: keredte | January 22, 2009, 10:55 am 10:55 am

mmonroeliveson – you stated and then asked: “The detainees at Guitmo aren’t US citizens, so how is it that they have more rights than our citizens?” – well first, they don’t have more rights than us citizens, BUT and this is something you in your obsession with Monroe miss – a democracy protects it’s rights by extending the process to others. If we have faith in our process, faith in our judicial system, faith in what happened (rightfully captured, rightfully accused) then what is to fear? Gitmo is a chicken cut slap in the face of our beloved Democracy extended by a neo-con agenda formulated before the election of 2000 to cover their arses. I am insulted and infuriated and your insinuation that you would even suggest that these detainees have more rights than we citizens. What we citizens will NOT and should NOT abandon is our pride, faith and strong foundation of our Constitution which I think you “Monroe” would say is a lot more important than fanning the ignorance and perpetual infinity fear of unknown “terrorism” used as a convenience of avoiding our responsibility as a nation in DEFEATING terrorism. Any man (our military or another supporting their cause of nation) is entitled to face his accusors and a trail – it doesn’t always happen for our beloved, but by all that is sacred we will demand it happens for everyone. We as a nation are better, and for your to hint, suggest or fan flames of desent in opposition is your right – but you are 100% wrong.

It’s is a known fact that the middle class are hit hardest in taxes.
The economy and everything else is an all time low. Yet congress still spends
like there is no tomorrow. Why doesn’t
Congress take a 10% pay cut? It certanily wouldn’t hurt them, with all
of their perks. Pelosi could get rid of
her BIG AIR PLANE THAT THE TAX PAYER
HAVE TO PAY FOR, THAT DOESN’T SEEM TO
BOTHER HER. Over $2000.00 an hour to fly. What applies to the to the average
citizen does not apply to all of those

The American People are so tired of

President Obama stated that he needed to raise taxes on ammunition reloading supplies to discourage re-loaders. He claimed that re-loaders can put up to 4 times the amount of gun powder in a cartridge as the manufacturer could.
First, no way. There simply isn’t enough room in the casing. Second, it would blow up the gun if you tried. Re-loaders are very careful to stay within specifications. We like our guns in one piece and our hand attached to our arms.
My point is, if Obama is going to listen to and believe nonsense like that, what other foolish things is he going to believe? Does he take everything Diane Feinstein tells him as accurate fact?
Maybe he should ask someone who knows something about a given field before taking a position on a subject. No Mr. President, pigs can’t really fly, no matter what Sen. Feinstein tells you.

OnTheGloryRoad, this should really come as no surprise to you. I was watching a discussion, that reached mammoth proportions on this website the other day, regarding the use of waterboarding and other mean of “interrogation” that have been internationally recognized forms of torture by the USA. (This when good ol’ boy Cheney admitted that we hadn’t been “perfect” about not torturing detainees.)
The fundamentalist, radical “born again” neo-con “Christians” all maintained that, since terrorist organizations were beheading and perpetrating other atrocities on Americans around the world, we had a perfect right to torture, maim and kill detainees.
Of course, the rational posters kept attempting to point out everything you just said in your post, and that we were only dragging ourselves down into the much with the terrorists if we behaved as they did. We were no better than they were if we emulated their behavior.
And I found myself sitting here in stunned dismay. I, personally, am an atheist. Yet even *I* was perfectly capable of grasping the concept that two wrongs do not make a right, and that once our executive branch decides that the Constitution of the United States of America didn’t pertain to *them*, the rights we hold so dear as US citizens were in very real jeopardy.
And those fundamentalist, radical “born again” neo-con “Christians” never *were* able to see any disconnect between the fact that they loved to loudly proclaim themselves as Christians, but were willing to use “but they do it, too” as justification.
I can only console myself with the knowledge that an anonymous internet forum like this tends to draw the true crazies, and they are not — by any stretch of the imagination — indicative of the way the majority of Americans think or feel.

63tango, Robert Reich did indeed talk about setting up specific rules to prevent money from going to, in his own words, “white construction workers”. Charlie Rangel asked him specifically if he would support tying money to rules that would require states to funnel the money to specific minority groups instead of simply looking at needs. This is racist and Obama should be ashamed. We do not need a government that decides who is eligible for aid based on the color of their skin. Why do we need rules that mandate who the money will go to if those rules are not designed to favor one group over another. I see this as a simple implementation of Obama’s pledge to “spread the welath”. If you are white and low income you have a right to question whether you will be shafted so other favored groups can get more of that wealth redistribution.
This is a sick and racist attempt to divide people based on political views.

– The American public is bemused by the tasteless show-biz extravaganza surrounding Barack Obama’s inauguration today.
– There is something to be said for some showiness in an inauguration. But one felt discomfited all the same.
– This is an inauguration, not a coronation.
– Is there a parallel between Mrs. Obama’s jewel-toned outfit and somebody else’s glass slippers? Why limousines and not shank’s mare?
Why would the Times do this, raining on Obama’s parade? These were not, of course, comments about the coronation of King Obama; they are comments about the inauguration of another historic president, Ronald Reagan, in January 1981.
Obama lacked the ability to praise his predecessor as Reagan did for Mr. Carter. To appreciate how remarkable this is, recall that under Carter, about 50 Americans were held hostage by Iran for 444 days — released the day of Reagan’s inauguration. Under Bush, there has not been another terrorist attack since Sept. 11, 2001.
I now get what his change is about. C’mon, I do hope we unify as a country, for we are divided, however, booing a departing president is horrible, an insult and shame.
When will the first reporter ask President Obama to admit that he has made mistakes? HA! That question will disappear for the next four years. It will be replaced by the new question for conservatives on every liberal’s lips these days: Do you want Obama to succeed as president? If not, you are unpatriotic if you do not wholeheartedly endorse his liberal agenda.
I guess it depends on the meaning of “succeed.”

BSKI, just how much of a “disgrace” did Laura Bush and the two daughters create? At Obama’s inauguration, you all “booed” them too as they left Washington.
Yes, BSKI, I can certainly see how your party is definitely more mature and well mannered than the Republicans ever were.

Is this supposed to be journalism? Talk about wide-swaths! “The country was ready to see the helicopter go” (with Bush on it)?? Oh, is that right, the ENTIRE country? Or just the barely 52% that voted for Obama? Because the other 48%+ was more disappointed to see a pseudo-socialist take over. It will be interesting to see what Obama has left after he has gone through his bag of “anti-Bush” actions. Since all he talked about was not being Bush, I can’t wait to see him come up with an original action after he’s done wasting time with this.

Doesn’t matter what Reich says, blacks and other minorities will loose jobs to undocumented workers. Some think that Dr. Kings dream came true on 1/20, as long as we continue to look at color when enacting laws, projects and other legislation his dream will never be realized. I guess the concept of those best suited for a job or contract should get really escapes our law makers. Stop trying to make up for the past. Realize that these injustices happened and ensure they never happen again. We are all equal regardless of the color of our skin. Do not create an atmosphere of overcompensation. By the way what the hell was the comment “white think right” supposed to mean? Also he couldn’t think of a better speech than to make this about race?

Just a comment … but I find it VERY disrespectful that this author continuously refers to our new President as MR. Obama. He is the President of the United States … whether you like it or not … you should address him as such … PRESIDENT Obama.

hey I wonder if President Obama had to fumigate the White House to rid the smell of Bush and any other Republicans who also stunk it up?

Hey Rick Klein, Kim Sung Il called, he wants you and the rest of his propaganda/PR team back in Pyongyang ASAP: his popularity ratings have slipped from 100% to 99.99%.

Does anyone really believe that Bush & Co. just randomly locked up these people for no apparent reason??? These are criminals that want to harm us any way they can. Let’s bring our troops home to secure our borders and infrastructure as tight as possible BEFORE we let these criminals loose!!

lauri you need to pack up and move to china. Thats a good place for you to be and have all your thoughts and messages screened so you do not say anything against the government. You may also need a leash. So you don’t get lost following the rest of the tell me what to do people. Good luck! sounds like you cannot live life without being told what to say and do.

Sounds like Obama is just trying to please the world instead of worrying about our country. Let’s make sure our enemies are happy that Bush isn’t protecting us any longer.

I strongly disagree with the media’s point that Gitmo is reason for terrorist recruitement. These perverted and misguided muslim mind has thousand reasons to do jihad. Look at India.

Cheney reminded me of that character Potter in that Jimmy Stewart movie It’s A Wonderful Life. did anyone also noticed that. My mother and I were talking about that on the phone and she asked me who Cheney reminded me of and I knew right away. Now that is funny. Personally I also think Cheney was trying to get sympathy from people being in the wheel chair like old man Potter because he knew his day was finished and I also noticed Cheney had that same old scowl look on his face on President Obama’s inauguration day which gave me the impression that he wasn’t a happy camper lol.

Well, just as US prisons are great training grounds for criminal activity upon release – I expect that many who are “detained” (such a bland word for unrightful, open ended imprisonment) at Guantanamo, previously guiltless of any crime (or they would have been charged and prosecuted), will now be only glad to exact revenge for the lives that have been ruined.
Sadly, the neocons will use this to tell us “we told you so” about their release.
Fighting fire with fire is seldom a good practice.

Posted by: Tom | January 22, 2009, 11:49 am 11:49 am

onthegloryroad; I readily acknowledge that out of concern for the opinions of mankind we can release or try the detainees immediately or in 120 days or whatever. It is important that we set the example since we are world leaders. My problem is I have a tendency to prioritize the security of the US over the approval of other nations. Other nations don’t have to live with our mistakes. We do. Time will tell whether we did the right thing. It’s all speculation at this point. But history will reveal that being tough on our enemies has rewarded us with our own freedom.

I’m wondering if President Obama saw the same resemblance between Cheney and that Potter character and if so I hope to God he had a good laugh that night with Michelle talking about it in private.

grumpy – I give Bush credit for taking strong steps that seem like they would protect our country against terrorists. But when you can arbitrarily designate someone as an “enemy combatant”, and then skirt international (and US) laws – you have to suspect that the Bush admin. preferred to strongly err on the side of safety. That included casting a wide net that brings in many more than just the guilty, denying any process laws to the people, hiding them in secret facilities, and using questionable practices to extract information and confessions.
BTW – not sure many pundits read this article. I did not see anywhere that these people will be released. Just that they will be given due process to defend the accusations leveled.

In 2000, Rep. asked that we give Bush a chance. In 2004 they asked not to change horses in midstream.
I think that its only fair that Rep. give Obama a chance. As there is no question about the election results, and supreme court rulings, its the only fair thing to do.
Dont lose heart, you can always hire Ken Starr to burn money investigating Obama for something, we the people, dont care about.
I am sorry that they Booed Bush. If I was there I would summon the strength to suppresses my rage, and give one more condescending round of applause.

Tom, I agree with you that GWB did cast a wide net, but let’s remember that he was responding to the loss of 3,000 US citizens on 9/11. I know that Pres. Obama has only suspended the legal process for 120 days, and that the closings don’t necessarily mean that all will be released, but we all need to remember that the extremists calling for Jihad are of the same mindset today as they have been for hundreds of years and are hell bent on our (the infidels) destruction. We need to work on our homeland security BEFORE we start releasing ANYONE is my point.

“I hope President Obama sends a message to Rush limbo bimbo to shut up for once and for all.”
Laurie, sweetie, your putting more faith in your president than one man is capable of producing. While I understand that you believe he is your new daddy thats going to beat up every kid on the block that offends you I have to remind you of a little constitution you may have forgotten. Its called FREEDOM OF SPEECH and ALL people in these United States are entitled to it. Not just the ones who are living in Obama Nation. If you dont like it, then honey dont listen to it. Simple is as simple minded oopss.. i mean simple does.

President? Lmao. I don’t even feel the need to post the title Mr. before the name Obama. It’s a joke that this man is even the President. I love the way people claim it’s not about race, but 93% of black voters voted for Obama (though I’m sure it was truly based on his political view, overwhelming experience and ability to vote ‘present’ how many times?) he attended a ‘church’ that spewed anti-white propoganda for years, only renouncing Rev. Wright after this all came out in the open. I’m tired of it only being racist if white with something to say. He spent $170 Million on his coronation celebration, money which would have been better spent building homless shelters and keeping the illegals out of this country. If the terrorists don’t want to be detained, quit trying to kill Americans! If you don’t like being broke, uneducated, working for minimum wage, then learn to read, get a better job and quit having kids to collect a welfare check. Why doesn’t NObama try actually enforcing child support orders instead of giving out tax credits as rewards? Cabrini Green was once a nice apartment complex in the middle of Gold Coast Chicago, how did it turn into a drug infested hole in the wall? As far as I’m concerned, give help to the middle class people who need, get rid of all the illegals taking our jobs, help the people making minimum wage get a skill set instead of entitling them to free money and focus on the issues, not the color of peoples skin. But with people like Bobby Rush (previously a Black Panther) and his wife Michelle who wrote that Princeton paper on the evil white people, how much positive change can we truly expect from Nobama? Remember, he never said it would be a good change. Obama spends dollars, but the man doesn’t make any sense!

thanks for the link to Reich blog. I’ve read several posts there. Economic issues are sometimes hard for me to grasp, but this guy writes very clearly.
Maybe too clearly. Now I understand more, I’m really scared.

How do we know Bush kept America safe after 9-11? Because we were not attacked again right away? Like terrorist have a schedule on attacking America. Look at history …. We might have just been lucky or where is the evidence that he prevented any, His own people said the torture (waterboarding) did not yield any useful information to prevent future attacks. I do not beleive for one minute Obama would not have people in place to help prevent an attack from happening. He will receive a briefing everyday just like GW as well as past presidents. He also received information the GW W. House had, just like GW received from his predecessor did. It is just what you do with that information that counts.

I can’t believe we are still talking about GWB he’s gone and thank goodness he is the economy couldn’t take anymore of that idiot. My mother who is 81 years old lost most of her retirement money and you die hard republicans still still up for the no good bleeping bleep bleep. Obama will do the best he can with the mess Bush left him and as an American living in Canada who voted for Obama I know it will take more than four years to fix this mess the republicans left the American people in. And those quoting Mrs. Obama as only helping single mothers I’m sure she meant all mothers but at the time was talking about single mothers you can twist anything someone says to make it look negative open you ears and see that she is a woman that is also helping the military families are you going to say something negative about that. I would love to meet her in person and talk about health care in Canada and how it works and it is not socialized medicine.

Murdering terrorists around the world are applauding Obama’s ideals and sensitivity. I can see them now firing their machine guns into the air like a bunch of mentally ill Balrogs, delirious in their excitment and anticipation.

You said; “… require states to funnel the money to specific minority groups instead of simply looking at needs. This is racist and Obama should be ashamed. ……. “I see this as a simple implementation of Obama’s pledge to “spread the welath”. … “This is a sick and racist attempt to divide people based on political views.”
I say; “James is the idea of “Funneling Money to specific minority groups” the ‘New neocon mantra?’ Your “Rabble Rousing” is no more than “Pig Sty Slop” intended to ‘Incite Racial Prejudice and Civil Divisiveness’ – the mere “Tactics of Racial Separatist!”
Is the thought of Racial Reconciliation so frightening to you? The ‘sane majority of the U.S.’ should “Ban ALL Civil Rights Pimps” on the Far Right and the Far Left.
On another frequently referenced topic, related to the troublesome remark made by Pastor Joseph Lowery saying; “White Think Right” – this is the sentiment of an aged (80+ yr. old), MLK, Jr. Civil Rights Activist and his attempt at a “back-hand slap” at the Bondage of Slavery, Post – Slavery (“Share Croppers”, “40 Acres and A Mule”) and the Jim Crow era.” For what it’s worth; accept it or reject it – it’s this ‘Old Man’s Opinion’ and he’s earned the right to have it!

First off, HE IS NOT BLACK !!!! His father was from one of those Saudia Arabia countries and his mother was white. They ARE NOT BLACK from his father’s country, get your facts right people. Second , any “MAN” that will not stand up and put his hand over his heart and repeat the pledge of allience is not my president. And why did he need to be sworn in twice? Is swearing on the bible not good enough for him?

This is soooo surreal. Ignorance is still prevalent in the 21st century. It’s like you bigots would give up your livelyhood, and safety rather than give up your hatred, and ignorance I must add. I have never seen a bigot who was not an idiot. Such hatemongores that continue to recruit and stir up division. You know no facts, you twist that which you can’t understand or read, you call things true because some other bigot said it, you’re pathetic. The dumbest thing about this whole conversation is that PRESIDENT Obama has only been COMMANDER AND CHIEF one day and you’re complaining of no change. You guys are sadly comical. Those of you who claim to be Christians, please please call yourselves religious bunch–the only people that Jesus attacked, “Ye hipocrits and blind.” I am a Christian, follower of Christ, and would not want to be associated with you in-the-name-of-Jesus haters. I will pray for you, least you take your places in Hell.
