Two Years Ago Today…

Two years ago today, in an email and web video to supporters, then-Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., announced he would form a presidential exploratory committee.

“Running for the presidency is a profound decision — a decision no one should make on the basis of media hype or personal ambition alone,” he said. “And so before I committed myself and my family to this race, I wanted to be sure that this was right for us and, more importantly, right for the country.

“For the next several weeks, I am going to talk with people from around the country, listening and learning more about the challenges we face as a nation, the opportunities that lie before us, and the role that a presidential campaign might play in bringing our country together.”

He formally declared his candidacy in Springfield, Ill., on Feb. 10, 2007.

“a decision no one should make on the basis of media hype or personal ambition alone”
its kind of amusing the way he feels the psychological need to always publicly deny what he is actually doing.
Like when he said Ryan’s divorce records shouldnt be made public when his people had been agitating for months for them to be released.

Wow…maybe we should make this a holiday also. And while we’re at it, why did the media attack Joe the Plumber, tear into his past and ridicule him for having owed $2K in back taxes, but when the Messiah’s Treasury Sec pick had an “oversight” or “honest mistake” of $34K plus employ and illegal, it was swept under the carpet? Do folks really think we’re not looking and listening to what is going on? Funny how Ole Joe was crucified and the Obama’s annointed one gets a pass…double standard? Mmmmmm…

“And it was TWO years ago today that Obama stopped doing his job as SENATOR that he swore to the state of Illinois that he would do while collecting a huge paycheck funded by your tax dollars”
Obama actually did not miss as many votes as John McCain.
Which was surprising since Obama had more campaigning to do to catch up in name recognition to Hillary.
I would say Illinois was quite fine with his decision as he won handily.

i really wonder how much race plays a part in the bitterness that many people express in these comments about Obama, particularly now that the campaign is over and done…

“Awwwwww right wingers hate it when their Family Values champions are inevitably exposed as hypocrites. ”
I dont know that Ryan was a family values candidate. But he was extremely qualified and actually would have worked as a Senator. Bu the was in Obama’s way so the compliant press had to march out to do their duty.
But speaking of hypocrisy of your graven idol- are you denying that Obama spoke about about the divorce records being unsealed?

Obama managed to fool most of the people all of the time to paraphrase a laudable notable.

Not that these whistful reflections are Crystal Pepsi are super relevant, but I wonder if we might possibly get a story about Obama bloated budget proposal.
Including such pared to the bone stimulus items as
$6 billion to weatherize “modest income homes.”
-$6 billion to provide internet in “underserved” areas

“ROFLMAO….the Chicago Tribune was taking its marching orders froma little known Dem state Senator? ”
But he was supposed to be the CHOSEN ONE!
“Obama said his campaign would not use the records, then when the judge spoke, he stated no Democrats should use the records something echoed by Daley. ”
He didnt need to use them then. The noise machine repeated them and drove Ryan out The point is that he boys were one one pushing this this issue in the first place.
Then he feels the need to deny publicly what he has been doing all along. Its a common thread with him.
Probably psychologically damaged because his daddy dropped him.

-$6 billion to provide internet in “underserved” areas”
Given the internet’s ability to provide everything from markets to education, this is similar to the electrification programs of the government during the early 20th century.
How do right wingers think we are going to compete on the world market with an antiquated infrastructure?

Wonder how long it took obaba to get the money from China to pay for his inauguration? If you need a citizenship just buy a house in the USA. I am not kidding…..what next?

“You may not agree with some STUPID decisions I have made. But I hope you can agree that I was willing to make the STUPID decisions.” George Bush’s farewell address.

pefros—so true! they went to school at the Rush Limbaugh Center of Advanced Conservative Studies. they have all their little codes (quotation gestures with their fingers), stupid acronyms (“Obamanation”), marching songs (“Barack the magic negro) and highly affected ways of speaking. home schooling is better than that mess.

Curious—i think only could explain the gut-level hatred toward Obama. these aren’t people with rational objection to policies. they hate his guts to the core. only race and religion can foment such hatred. you already see people writing about “their” God, like God is property of their cynical, hateful views.

Go read the Bye-bye Bush thread for abject hate. You guys are “1984″ scary.

BertieW—we are “1984″ crazy??? you, who think God belongs only to you (“The First Amendment means I dont [sic] have to worship your god.”) so God is a republican. and you know this through revelation.
1984 was Ronald Reagan’s time. that was a crazy time. or are you talking about the Orwell book?

Posted by: Paul Wall | January 16, 2009, 7:37 pm 7:37 pm

there’s no doubt that some people hate Bush. for them politics are like a religion and they hate the president. for me nothing is so serious that i would hate someone. for me hate doesn’t feel good. i try to stay away from it.
if we would have open dialog with each other or if posters met each other in person the tone would be very different.
the impersonality of all this brings out the worst in people.
sometimes it brings out the worst in me and i apologize for that. and not always do you get to say you are sorry for something you said to someone.
so i apologize to you Bertie and i will try to better. not just on this blog but other ones as well.
what if something someone wrote to us was the last thing we ever read, the last contact we ever had? that’s too sad.

Paul – I’m afraid your extension of humility will cause some some gloating in some. I’d recommend caution in casting pearls to the swine.

John | Jan 16, 2009 4:29:26 PM—”media attack Joe the Plumber.” he is only an apprentice, never a plumber. he was a plant for McCain/Palin and was actively campaigning for McCain while saying Obama scared him. he should be scrutinized. now he’s a reporter in Israel! imagine that.

Fortunately, whatever Joe the Plumber is up to in Israel has been left to our imagination. There’s been a nice 2 day reprieve where he hasn’t been acknowledged. Hopefully, the media will stay out of Pajamas Media and we can imagine Joe clearing out latrine lines for the Israeli Defense. Keep up the good work with the rotorooter, Joe!

Mr. Obama will be the worse President in this history.

I liked him in the beginning, but the more I listened and read his two books, the more I got suspicious.
I was put off soon, not just because of his shallowness but also because there was an air of haughtiness in his demeanor that was unsettling. His posture and his body language were louder than his empty words.
