Boehner Sympathizes with Jindal
ABC News’ Teddy Davis reports: House Republican Leader John Boehner sympathized with Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, 37, on Wednesday after he was widely panned for the delivery of the GOP response to President Barack Obama’s Tuesday speech to Congress. "I thought the message in his speech was very good. Clearly anyone in that situation is going to find themselves in a very difficult situation following the President," said Boehner. "The President is a very good communicator. But I thought the message contained was very good." Boehner addressed Jindal’s "very difficult situation" at a Wednesday lunch with reporters sponsored by the Christian Science Monitor in Washington, D.C. Jindal, who has been touted as the Republican Party’s version of Obama, was tapped for his high-profile speaking role earlier this month by Boehner and Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell. "Gov. Jindal embodies what I have long said: The Republican Party must not be simply the party of ‘opposition,’ but the party of better solutions," Boehner said in a Feb. 11 statement announcing Jindal’s selection. ABC News’ Ferdous Al-Faruque contributed to this report.

I’m not a republican but the speech was pretty good. It does seem that the republican did not want to change their way of thinking when society has changed. Not so say the dems know exactly what’s going on. I do like Obama only because thus far he seems to get it. I want the republicans to get it and the dems in congress to get it understand it and make better legislation.

The Note – Your Source for Republican News!
Republicans are currently the minority party, and, in the last election, the Democrats gained more members as well as votes. But ABC keeps us informed of every little nuance among the minor Republicans, AS IF WE CARE!
News flash to ABC: McCain lost. The Democrats control the House, and Senate (barely). The President is assembling a new cabinet of people whose decisions will affect your lives and mine. Might you find some interesting stories among the people who have actually assumed power?

That was one flat, boring, and obviously self-serving speech. And, still, no ideas to help the country except “cut taxes”. Sorry, Bobby & John, we’ve been there and done that and look at what it has gotten us.

The problem with the Republican response:
It was disconnected from the speech that the President actually gave. I would expect a response to contain points of agreement identified and points of disagreement identified. It was a generic broad brush response that came off as anti-many things and gave me the impression that Republicans will cooperate only if they get their way otherwise don’t count on them to support anything.
Posted by: George | February 25, 2009, 2:25 pm 2:25 pm
Gov Jindal’s reply to the President’s speech was an out-and-out, campaign add for himself and should have ended with “I’m Bobby Jindal and I approve this message”. It is slightly less than 4 years to the next Presidential election, so why not get an early start?

Doh-bama, you have got to be kidding! It seems as if you don’t like Obama, but give me a break, if you really think Jindal was better than Obama, you are the pathetic one. Jindal’s response was embarassing, and if this is what the Repubs have to counter the Dem leaders, it is a sad state of affairs. I’m not a Repub (thank God!) but at one time I did think Jindal may be good, but for heavens sake, someone give him some speech lessons (and teach him how to walk with confidence!); the way he walked to the podium last night was a little goofy and his whole speech was disappointing. The Repubs are in serious trouble.

ABC has the distinction of holding a long bias against Barack Obama. Remember Charlie Gibson and that runt Stephanopolous who tried to derail Obama’s run to the White House while giving McNasty a free ride?

Sad, just sad. You Repugs are in some serious trouble come 2010 and 2012! If that’s one of your rising “stars” you guys need a galaxy. What an awful speech, or maybe it just sounded so terrible after listening to Obama for nearly an hour and I could have listened to him all night. He is an incredible orator and what he says has substance, too. Poor Jindal. Repugs, please don’t do that to him again. He almost made Palin look good.

George W. Bush has already won the Laughing Stock of America and the World award. I don’t know what speech that you were watching but Jindal was terrible. If he’s the best candidate that the Republicans have to run in the next election then it looks like the Republicans will suffer another devastating loss and it will be another slam-dunk for Obama. Jindal cannot hold a candle to Obama’s delivery of a speech.
It was a just a pathetic attempt on the part of the Republicans to make Obama look bad when in fact Obama reminded us that it is possible to have a President that can actually speak English and has the capability to put two sentences together, unlike those fools G.W. Bush and Dickie Cheney who are the laughing stock of the entire World and who totally messed up this Great Country.

Not only was it a poor performance but it was also one lie after another. The DEMOCRATIC sheriff Gov. Jindel is referring to was the same Sheriff that blocked people from New Orleans from crossing the bridge into his parish to escape the floodwaters.
And this is the same gov who has a low unemployement rate because of federal dollars flowing into his state for disaster relief following a natural disaster (wouldn’t it be nice if we had a monitoring system to prepare for these disasters….Bobby said NO!)
Bobby, do you think we forgot that the Federal taxpayers gave LA $175 billion in the last 5 years and we actually swollowed the lie that you figured out how to pay for all of your charter schools and infrasture rebuilding from TAX CUTs? It is those federal dollars flowing into your economy that is keeping your unemployement below 6%. But Louisiana is losing 400 jobs per day — so keep thumbing your nose at the stimulas money. There are a ton of Govs who will take it instead.

Isn’t it interesting that Louisiana has been taking so much Federal money in the past several years. It is currently getting $750,000 million in farm aid (not part of the stimulus) and millions in other forms of funding. They received money for Katrina, which was a natural disaster. If Louisiana was in such good shape under Jindal, why are they taking all this money? Typical two-faced argument by Republicans.
Posted by: td | February 25, 2009, 3:01 pm 3:01 pm
NewCongress2010 maybe your point would make sense if Jindal hadn’t taken all that ‘gov’ money he got for Katrina and Rita. The thing that makes me crazy is the hypocrisy of Jindal. The only reason he is not taking all of that stimulus money is because he wants to run for office in 2012. Otherwise, he would be just like Crist in FL and taken all the money (so he can help his state out, the nincompoop!)

Moderately entertaining to see that my wife was not the only one that thought Jindal’s delivery sounded abit like Mr. Rogers. Rumors are also going around that Jindal is overexaggerting his story about Katrina and Harry Lee, as the sheriff who is now deceased gave an interview in 2005 that he did not find out the reason that private boats couldn’t be used in the reccue was insurance until 7 days after Katrina hit. Still this is just rumor and may turn out to be nothing, so grain of salt.

By the way, anytime a Republican makes a comment about Democratic politicians not paying their taxes, just point to Palin, she did the same thing as Daschle, if not worse…didn’t pay taxes on the per diem that she got for living at home. And she used state funds for her kids travel expenses.

It was every bit that bad and more. He sounded like he was reading a 6th grade book report. And every point he brought up had already been refuted by the president in a much more concise, clear way. If the rising star of the Republican party is so out of touch with current events that he thinks the correct thing to do these days is to play to the 20% far right voters of America then the GOP will be in the permanent minority.

what a joke!, Jindhal was a complete dud. The GOP is trying to find “their Obama”, and it is so transparent. All he could do was criticize, instead of finding constructive middle ground. Obama has been trying to reach both sides of the aisle. He is truly trying to change the tone, and Jindhal is just playing the same old GOP song. “I won’t get along do dah, do dah”. I am sure they would have been the same naysayers to Kennedy’s plan to put a man on the moon. They would have said “that is complete science fiction, stuff of comic books!”. It takes audacious plans to get a country moving. “No” is the easy word,. then nothing changes, but “Lets try” that is hard, as Wayne Gretsky said “I’ve missed 100% of the shots I never took”. It seems like the GOP has party over country. I thought they were spouting the reverse in the campaign. Hmm. Interesting..

Boehner may think Bobby’s speech was swell, but most commentators on the right (including Fox News) panned it, and rightfully so. First of all, it was not a response to Obama’s speech, it was a regurgitation of past GOP talking points and an urgent call to take refuge in the ideas of yesterday and the last century. Republicans, including Jindal, have not yet learned that what worked in the fifties and the eighties will not work in the twenty-first century. As long as they are looking backwards instead of forwards, they have nothing to offer.

Jindal is just not ready for prime time. The Republican platform of just cutting taxes isn’t going to get it done in the 21st century economy. I’m a registered Democrat who voted for Obama, but I’m a moderate on some issues. I do happen to think that cutting the corporate tax (if they get rid of tax loopholes) would be a good thing. But, I also think that government has a responsibility to offer healthcare to those citizens who do not already have it with their employer. Jindal failed on so many fronts, both in style and substance. He should have offered substantial policy differences in at least one area of interest to Americans (for instance, healthcare or education)instead of doing a campaign ad for himself. Totally wrong venue for promotion. He could have done a lot of better by taking just 1 issue in his limited time and drawn a contrast with Obama. Anyway, I never thought that a hard-core, right-wing Republican will be able to bridge the divide to win a national election. Pawlenty is tons better with cross broad-sections of his party and he governs in a “blue state”. Pawlenty has political deftness and conservative credentials to boot. Pawlenty is the real competition to Obama, not Jindal.

But when Republicans disagree with Palosi or Obama and they are against Females and African Americans and are racist.

Every time I hear a Republican politican talk about the Democrats spending money, I want to line them up and go down that line soundly slapping each one in the mouth. Talk about wasteful spending…them, after they approved every spending issue that Bush put before them…..those Democrates that helped them, get in line, too. Jindhal not only did you not look like an idiot, you sound like one to me. If I am not mistaken, isn’t your State the one that your party’s leader turn his back on? Duh….you ought to be ashamed of yourself. Louisianna is still in peril.

How on earth he prepared his reaction before hearing what has to be said! It was awful!

AngieinPA, my sentiments exactly! LMAO! Mr. Rogers is all I could hear. Whatever message he intended to deliver was completely overshadowed by his terrible delivery! Whether you like it or not, in public speaking, delivery is everything.

The Republicans are bringing NOTHING to the table. Their whole agenda amounts to one word “no”. That’s it, nothing more. The only idea they have is a single word and Jindal’s entire “response” summed up to that single word. Until the Repubs come up with something other than more tax cuts for the rich the majority of the American electorate will be tuning them out.

Bobby’s speech content was good, but his delivery could have been better. Fortunately for President Obama, his backdrop pet scarecrow (Biden) and clapping monkey (Pelosi) definitely gave his speech more impact.

seem like all republicans want are huge tax cuts for the rich so those rich people can shut down and move there companies over seas…also they take the money and put it in off shore accounts so they donat have to pay taxes.

Obama made a great speech – one that will go down in ‘History’. He is the one that we need to lead us through this ‘depression’.
He is wise beyond his years, just a special person that fits the situation. The Republicans can wine, cry, name call, threaten and be as sarcastic as possible. But they have no ideas other than to cut tax’s for the rich. They ran this country into the ground and now are trying to blame the Dems. What a joke that whole party has turned into. ‘Boner, Jindel -dommies personified.

President Obama has spent 1.5 billion dollars/hour since being sworn in. Yet the left feels that Bush’s “failed policies” (much less spending) caused the current global economic crisis. I don’t get it.

News flash to Amy! After McCain’s convention, McCain was ahead of Obama. If the economy had not taken a dip just two weeks before the election, McCain would be the President right now.
Yes, Obama won, but ONLY by 3 percentage points. As for states, McCain won 21 states. This means Obama’s popularity could easily be reversed.
His populary now is at 57%, according to the Rasmussen poll which is the most accurate poll. That number is down by 30%. Wall Street reacted very negatively to Obama’s speech last night.
And a litte history. When Clinton was first elected, he too, got absolutely carried away and tried to pass every far left policy he could think of and bashed Republicans every step of the way. As a result, his party LOST both houses of Congress only TWO years into his first term. Obama seems poised to do the same.
Posted by: marco | February 25, 2009, 3:35 pm 3:35 pm
Amy,
The Democrats don’t control the Senate barely, they have filibuster proof control when you consider that they need only get the vote of one Republican (usually one of the Senators from Maine). The Republican party as a whole has nothing to gain by supporting anything the Democrats do, because the Democrats will get all of the credit if it works. The only chance the Republicans have is if the program fails and they can say they opposed it. Either way, the Democrats have no one to blame for their failures but themselves now.

When Gov. Jindal was making his approach from the room that he was in, I thought that it was a skit from SNL, and when he started to speak, I was convinced that it was a joke. I think that Gov. Jindal should not take Boehner, Limbaugh and McConnell praise so seriously because they are completely out of touch with reality and last night it showed. 80% agreed with the President’s road to recovery speech, As a country we should forget about the other 20% of the WACKOS, if they want to live in tents, or starve or buy guns, let them have there way, good riddance.

The left blames the republicans for “not contributing”, yet it was Speaker Pelosi who rejected all republican’s input and told them to go away. It’s kind of hard to contribute when you’re being shouted down.
Posted by: Open-Mind | February 25, 2009, 3:38 pm 3:38 pm
That Republican response to the Presidents speech was the worst I have ever heard. It was pathetic. This is the GOP’s frontman? C’mon. Bush didn’t veto a single spending bill during the entire time that the GOP was in control of congress. Bush vetoed the SCHip bill that would have insured more kids, and now congress improved an even BIGGER s-chip bill…Bush shot himself in the foot on that one. Bush was against a new GI bill (and so was McCain) because it was too generous to veterans. It still got approved by a bi-partisan veto-proof majority…McCain voted against it. The GOP is lost because it is split into too many stubborn factions each composed by single-issue voters.

By refusing to except Stimulus package monies for the state of Louisanna, I think Jindal is doing the residents more harm than good.
There is no way he is oblivious to how poorly alot of the residences are currently living within the state. If for no other reason, take the monies for them and allow them an opportunity to provide a better way of living for them and their families.

This response is just another example of what is wrong with our current system. It seems that neither party will sit down with the other to find common groud from which to build this country up.
It is all about personal agendas and party politics.
People are suffering, many companies are stealing our resources and capital to support their own profits and we have to listen to stuff like this.
It was all, “our” way is better, “their” way sucks.
When asked to participate in the process, the only way is always their way. If the Dems wont play by our rules, we wont play.
The problem is that it was the same way when the power was reversed.
It is time to stop the BS and get to work finding solutions that work. Talk, compromise, sell your options with facts and figures that prove it is right.
Work the problems till a real solution is created. If your idea is really better, sell it with details not with half truths and twisted words.
My favrote critcisms are those that are so selective. The High speed rail money is for a train to Disneyland say the repulicans. BUt what about the proposals to link major midweastern cities like Chicago, Milwaukee Madison and Minneappolis, to increase the business commerce in the area. Then expanding it to other major cities, to eliminate the constant need for Fuel wasting cars and Airplanes.
Lots of good things can be done if they just stop looking for only the negatives.
I think the real majority of the people in this country that may not post to these things, are as tired as I am.
We dont want great big government, but it should be big enough to handle the big issues in the country. Stop fighting and start working.

I think Jindals ‘better solutions’ speech was right on. In fact, so does Obama. Obama’s 1st year tax cuts for a 1st year recession – same as Bush. Obama will not trial the Gitmo prisoners – same as Bush. Now Obama wont exit IRAQ before Aug 2010 – same as Bush! Maybe the GOP does have better solutions. If Obama was not engaged in ‘looting’ America, and if he did not appoint tax cheats and lobbyists for cabinet positions, then I would be willing to say ‘good start’.

I think it’s sad that we can’t seem to get beyond Repubs and Dems and what is best for either party. Look, I’ve been a Dem all my life and will be one til the day I die, but, people, our country is getting ready to fall off the cliff. When you get right down to it, it really doesn’t matter who is in power, AS LONG AS THIS COUNTRY SURVIVES and it is high time we get past this petty political bulls___! Repubs, Obama is the Pres, get over it already, and let’s begin to think of THE COUNTRY. Have you ever heard of the saying, “a house divided against itself cannot stand?” What are we going to do as a nation (of repubs, dems and independents)? How are we going to survive?

Ricky, the Dems may have an almost-filibuster-proof majority, but that doesn’t change how American voter view the GOP. People are tired of all the partisan bickering that has thus-far resulted in a do-nothing congress. That is one of the reasons that the Democrats won so many seats last November and will probably win a few more in 2010 if the GOP keeps playing their little schoolyard political games.

I think it was obvious to all that Jindal’s opinions were quite similar to the President’s. Did not see much opposition here. Boehner saying PiYush did a good job is about as clownish as their last presidential team. PiYush got out there like Kermit the frog and babbled about the Disneyland-Vegas hover-rail, government’s bad – but trust Republicans to run a bad thing, quoted a race baiting sheriff, and right after the President just delivered an uplifting speech proclaiming Americans will come out of this dire situation, PiYush said the exact opposite. Jindal and the Repubicans say that tax cuts are the way to end the recession but the Bush admin already did that and look where it got us. Bush tried the tax rebate thing a year ago and it barely made a blip on the economy. Tax cuts alone will not do it! History has already proven that. Republicans need to open their eyes.

You love to attack republicans on a personal level (its like listening to a bunch of kindergarteners teasing a fellow classmate), but, as soon as someone talks sense against your candidate, they’re racists, facists, whatever. Obama is an eloquent speaker, which makes him an exceptional liar, and you eat it up. He told you in a previous speech, only the people who really got sucked in to bad loans, lost jobs, etc, where going to get money – LIE! Read the fine print not to mention, what government ARMY is going to review every case to make that determination?!?! Also, they are giving money to banks that don’t need it, nor even asked for it (re: Chicago National Trust). WHY??? Because its easier to control a bank when you have the hands on its purse strings. FACE IT – Obama is buying up America, and WE are paying for it…

I don’t know why there is so much criticism about Jindhal’s speech last night. It was short, sweet, and to the point. It had all the conservative, logical, common sense approach to handling these problems. It was SO much better than all the hot air spewed out by Barack Obama. Jindhal talked about the inefficiency of the government after Katrina, a prime example of why the government shouldn’t get bigger and that individuals are better at doing things. All Obama wants to do is make the government more powerful. Spending on more social programs is marxist heaven. Jindhal was spot on and had real solutions. I am so happy that the GOP has a huge pool of talent in its future. I thought Pelosi’s eyes were going to keep popping out of her head! Go Jindhal, we are proud of you! You proved that reason, not emotion is the better choice!

I actually like the idea of a high-speed rail system. But it bothers me it’s being sold as “stimulus” that will probably only benefit Illinois (President Obama’s turf) and Vegas/LA (Pelosi/Reid turf). The fact is, it won’t get done in time to stimulate anything, and somehow the entire country is expected to pay for trains that only benefits two states.
Note that I live in Illinois along the planned rail route, so my criticism is not about being selfish.

Republicans plan is to cut taxes so you can spend as you wish. How many roads you going to build or how much insurance will you buy with $12 a month tax cut. Businesses get tax cuts pay someone 20 million then move to the Caymans. That thinking has not worked.
Universal health care was another knock by Jindal. When do they wake up and realize fewer people have health care? And some insurance bureucrat tells you what doctor to see, rations the services you can have and often say no you can’t have treatment so the company makes money. That system is broken.

When Republicans say tax cuts are the answer, that’s just reassurance to their big business buddies. While an individual would receive a whopping $300-$600 rebate, big businesses pocket hundreds of tousands of dollars. And what they leave out is, money for tax cuts is borrowed as well. All this blabbering about borrowing money from China, yadda yadda yadda is a scam.

It’s good the Republican Party is distancing themselves from Bush. What I want to know is how long did Bush sit on the economic issue until he came running (literally) to the podium requesting an emergency bailout fund? Maybe just as long as he sat on the report citing an imminent attack on the World Trade Center?

Hey Mark, you want to dis the President of the United States, well Republicans had control of Washington for 7 years and 8 at the top. So they had thier chance to fix things and what did they do? mmm Lets see they spent spent spent, they gave companies big tax breaks for moving jobs over seas, did not create jobs for those losing them when thier company when over seas, Gave jobs in Iraq to friends companies with the no bid contracts, let SEC slide by with out doing thier job, Let the big companies gouge everyday Americans, Let Wall Street run amok (come on a 1.2 Million dollar office), two wars raging, let Osama Bin Laden off easy, let the housing crash (this is not all thier fault but it did happen on thier watch). So it is like this If we the republicans are in charge it is spend, tax break for top 1%, spend some more, give big breaks to companies sending jobs over sea’s causing job loses, and home loses, and spend and give more tax breaks to the top 1%. Yep seems about right.

The republicans pulled this bozo out of the swamp simply because it would have been impossible for any republican in Washington to rebuke anything that Obama laid out last night since everyone knows that it was their playing lap dog to Bush for eight years that got us into this nightmare. It would have been a big joke for any one of them to try and make a rebuttal to this brilliant speech and they all knew it. Anyway, I was overjoyed to hear that Mitch McConnell played a part in recruiting this little spineless weasel for this lame attempt in trying to out speak a great leader.

He’s almost as bad as Palin the supreme idiot. Talking to Americans like we are 4-year olds is not how to gain respect. Cutting taxes for the richest 2 percent is the one and only GOP solution to every economic ill. If he refuses stimulus money for his constituents (who are in one of the most impoverished states in the country), just to further his selfish and egotistical 2010 presidential campaign, then the Louisiana legislature should impeach him. Cmon GOP, you can do better than this guy.

Then revenue from is will go into an LA-San Fran line, then a Vegas-Phoenix line, then a Phoenix-Oklahoma City line, and so on and so forth. JOBS around a vast spectrum. Environmental studies, Land surveyors, Laying tracks, Building rail cars, conductors, etc…what’s so ridiculous about a new, advanced, high speed, light rail system? I don’t get it. I guess they’re acting Hooverish resisting the New Deal freeway system.

justirighttoo you should see Jindal state, it is not what he claims. And Jindal did use goverment aid to help clean up his state. Jindal does not think the unemployed in his state deserve anything. But then again if companies did not out source to other counties we might have jobs here in the USA.

Action speaks louder than WORDS!!! It is affirmative, Obama is the BEST!!! Now, adopt an attitude of gratitude, an appreciate him by actively becoming a part of the solution. Losers complain, while real WINNERS take action(s) that create positive changes.
Practice being PROACTIVE, instead of reactive, and we will become ONE America, standing strong, a country that others will be proud to emulate.
Peace and Blessings Sheryl :)

So once again, Repubs are circling the wagons and drinking another bottle of denial. Jindal stunk it up because he tried to be “me too” guy on Obama’s story of success. American’s didn’t buy the B.S.! Then Jindal tried the old, phony propaganda of “government is too big” with the Katrina fiasco. What a divergence from the truth! Americans remember who was in charge during Katrina. We know it was a Republican disaster; handled by political hacks who were friends of Bush, but not necessarily qualified to run FEMA. REPUBS HAVE EGG ON THEIR FACE BECAUSE THEY ARE STUBBORNLY STUPID AND ARROGANT. THEIR “NO TAXES ON THE RICH” SHIP CAN SINK IN VIOLENT FLAMES. Stuff it GOP.

They just don’t know what to do….They got Michael Steele heading their party…….Before Obama, David Duke probably had a better chance of heading the GOP than Michael Steele

The Republican response is indicative of what I have maintained for some time: they are in disarray and out of touch with the middle class. Why would anyone think they could change this quickly (if they ever do at all)!

Obama and his supporters are great. They are the real “compassionate” Americans that Bush used to brag about with his party. Repubs: L. Graham, Bhoener, Hattch, McCain, etc, are dinosaurs. They are going extinct. They consume too much with their belief in no taxes, but plenty of perks for Big Oil, pharmaceuticals, military contractors, mining companies or any giant corporation solely concerned about profits but not the environment, jobs, education, health care, green energy or infrastructure. Again, Repubs are dinosaurs–their time has passed.

Please! The republicans believe in small government???!!! What a laugh! They only believe in small government when they are not in charge! And how about that lie about how republicans “went along” with big government spending, THEY WERE IN CHARGE OF IT!!! They led it, they did not just ‘go along’. Republicans only want America to fail and fall further because they are out of power.
Posted by: Sean | February 25, 2009, 4:30 pm 4:30 pm
The Republican response was a complete dud!
First of all, Jindal didn’t respond to anything directly said by the President in his speach. You can tell this was a well rehearsed “canned” response.
That should not be the point of it, nor should the point of it be to promote Jindal himself.
I can’t believe Jundal used the example of a conversation during the Katrina aftermath to bad mouth the governments response to it. His entire point was to say that government was the problem and that the private sector should be looked to more as the solution.
This is the problem with the Republican Party now. Katrina occured during Bush’s presidency – so he should have said negative things about Bush and his own Republican Party’s response to Katrina.
If Jindal runs for election against Obama – Jindal doesn’t have a chance!!!!!

I have quit watching ABC, I like Charlie Gibson and george Stephenopolisis… but ABC keeps putting the super republican George Will on the air with his biased garbage.
As long as George Will is on ABC they will be at the back of the pack and bankrupt.

“Gov. Jindal embodies what I have long said: The Republican Party must not be simply the party of ‘opposition,’ but the party of better solutions,” Boehner said in a Feb. 11 statement announcing Jindal’s selection.” said Boehler.
What “better solutions?” Jindal didn’t offer any “better solutions.” He just said “The President is wrong. We need less government and more tax cuts.”
That has basically been the Republican line for the past 30 years, and people are finally starting to wake up and realize that it doesn’t work. All it gives us is incompetent government and tax cuts for the wealthy.
By the way, Jindal, speaking as someone who lives in Washington state — in the shadow of Mount St. Helens and Mt. Rainier — I wouldn’t mind $140 million in govt. funding for “volcano monitoring.” You wouldn’t have objected to that money being spent on a new Gulf Coast hurricane warning system.

These people don’t “get it” because they all make over $250K a year and are not under threat of foreclosure. Isn’t it odd that in the poorest states in the U.S. the GOP dominates. Card Carrying [[Conservative Republican]] ….
David Brooks On PiYush [Bobby] Jindal’s Pre-Recorded Rebuttal…
Keep in Mind, PiYush Jindal made his Rebuttal Speech, Prior to hearing President Obama’s Speech !!
Read on…
PBS: David Brooks, reacting to Bobby Jindal’s rebuttal speech about as strenuously as Brooks ever reacts to anything.
I’ll sum up: DISASTER NIHILISM INSANE DISASTER. Basically, the lyrics of the typical Norwegian black metal band, spoken aloud by the author of Bobos in Paradise.
Anyway, for everyone who wanted a more substantive response to the man who launched a thousand channel changes than, “OMG he is Kenneth the Page,” there you go.
BROOKS: Not so well. You know, I think Bobby Jindal is a very promising politician, and I opposed the stimulus package -
I thought it was poorly drafted – but to come up at this moment in history with a stale, “government is the problem…we can’t trust the government”…it’s just a disaster for the Republican Party.
The country is in a panic, now. They may not like the way the Congress passed the stimulus bill. The idea that government is going to have no role in this…in a moment where only the Federal government is big enough to do stuff…to just ignore all that and say government’s the problem…corruption, earmarks, wasteful spending – it’s just a form of nihilism.
It’s just not where the country is, it’s not where the future of the country is. There’s an intra-Republican debate: some people say the Republican party lost its way because it got too moderate, some people say they got too weird or too conservative. He thinks they got too moderate, and he’s making that case.
I think it’s insane.
I think it’s a disaster for the party.
I just think it’s unfortunate right now.

Governor Jindal may not like big government, and he may not like Washington spending, but I am amazed at the hypocracy. Tens of billions of dollars in federal aid flowed to Louisiana and other states devastated by Katrina. I didn’t see one Republican refusing to take the money. Oh yes, many didn’t like the way some of it was spent (“my pie isn’t as big as your pie”) but they took the money anyway. So I pray that we do not have another diaster in New Orleans and Louisiana in the future – otherwise I for one am going to tell the Gov, sorry kid you can’t take that money – people gotta suffer and make it on their own (even when fellow Republicans and FEMA directors in suit and day before the kleig lights tell survivors things are just fine – “how do I look on screen”).

I missed both Obama and Jindal last night so I decided I better go back and read Jindal’s comments cause by all the fuss, it must have been really bad. Then I reaad it and thought it was fine. It certainly embraced what Republicans believe – government run health care and big spending bills will be a disaster. BTW, any of you doubters, talk to someone in the UK about their health care. It is a disaster…but, hey, you voted for the guy…

Dumb Republicans want to cut taxes, which will lead to less services. Less medical services. Less police services. Less fire prevention services. Less disaster relief services. Less retirement and entitlement payments. They want to cut taxes to Reagan era lows (Why they love that fool, when he cut taxes one year and raised them every single year afterwards, is beyond me) but our population has ballooned by 65,000,000 people (and that doesn’t factor stressors placed on the services by illegals).

He wasn’t that bad — what else did you expect from a Zombie party — they are about as dead as Citibank, and no thank you they have to resusitate themselves.
Not only was the speech a remix it was patronizing — how old did Jindal think the population was — he spoke to us as if we were children. That was the most insulting. Not only should his writer be fired; he should go away for about 10 years and grow up himself!!

These days Republicans have no ideas, no creativity, no energy, no passion, nothing new to offer. They have only one idea for everything –”Tax Cuts! Tax cus! KP, it reads fine..yeah if you like to hear “government’s bad, less taxes, let the republic party run the bad thing”. But, the visual was atrocious!!! Then to have an anchor baby rebutting the President was borderline straight jacket material.
Posted by: BruhMan | February 25, 2009, 4:52 pm 4:52 pm
JB, why don’t you just take a seat with all of your Republican heroes. Get out of our way. We don’t need GOP cry babies whose only “original idea” is to keep cutting taxes for corporations and wealthy people. Yeah, Repubs want all of us to enjoy those big tax cuts. Well, it’s all proportional. If you are a billionaire then it pens out, if you are working and middle class, those big Repub cuts amount to potato chips. The wealthy get back 80 cents on the dollar, the rest of us would only get back 3 cents–in relative terms of write-offs and earned income. So come on over to the party of the people, not the rich. You are still welcomed, unless you’re filthy rich and greedy.
Posted by: Demsrgreat | February 25, 2009, 4:52 pm 4:52 pm
The idea expressed in Gov. Jindal’s speech is well received, but it does not address the inherent greed in people. Yes, people should be in charge, but who is there to protect the people from those who allow greed to take over. I think this was evident in the last administration, and the effects are being felt today.

Someone on the left, please explain the folowing rational.
Republicans prefer responsible spending and tax cuts for business, because they stimulate the economy and make the US attractive to businesses that create jobs. Worked for Reagan who inherited Carter’s recession. Worked for W who inherited the the dot.com crash and 9/11. But you feel this bad?
Democrats prefer big government, big spending, and big taxes for business. This approach failed for both FDR and Carter. But you feel this is good?
Please explain. Thanks.

Dave,
The Republicans being morons won’t save the Democrats from having to put up or shut up. It is their show now. Of course Jindal gets bad reviews. He went up against The Chosen One. The two greatest speakers in history, Obama and Clinton, speak like a black preacher and a high school debater, respectively. Big deal, I am not impressed with the speaking style of either. Now you have to be an orator to be President. That opens the field up to any small town Baptist preacher. You get what you deserve.

The Republic Party wants to cut taxes so low while a Democrat is in office so the government will shut down. There’s no doubt in my mind Republicans hate America with a passion. But, notice, while they hate government sooooo much, they all keep saying “keep me employed by voting me in.” That’s straight jacket material. If you hate government soooo much, get the hell out of it. If you looooove the private sector soooo much, go be a part of it. Nooooo, these bumbling fools are the welfare queens to the nth degree. CEO’s and CFO’s cooking the books under republican rule, and the first bank bail out, that we had to have and was to help the everyday people, but in the end the Republicans gave billions to these banks with no over site, and we hear about the bonus, the parties, and the vacations on Taxpayers dimes all under republican rule. Governor Jindal meant well, and is probably great for Louisiana. But his presentation, as the rising star, puts the Republican Party in a dismal position. Sometimes, during the presentation, I thought he was sent to hurt the party. Especially when he said that Americans should not listen to anyone who says that America’s best days are behind her….Boehner said that.

Oh but you were ok with Bush’s spending, yep the pot calling the kettle black. It is ok if we do it but not if you do it. Very kindergarten analogy. It is going to take a lot to recover from the last 8 years. If the Republican are so good why did the last few year take us to the brink of bankruptcy. Where are thier Ideals to fix what is now broke? Where were they when the fat cats got fatter?

So from the comments I read the Republicans lost, Dems are in control (and have the answers to save the country) so all Republicans and those that voted them into office should just leave America (because shoot if the Dems have the answer why are we arguing with them). Only one voice to be heard and it should be Democrat.. Sounds almost like a dictatorship in the making. But wait.. who’s been in control of Congress for the past hhhmmm 2 years?? Could it be…
Posted by: txjan1212 | February 25, 2009, 5:35 pm 5:35 pm
txjan, I’m for that. If Republicans hate government so much…leave!!! Just listen, they all proclaim that government is bad, government has never ran anything effective, cut taxes so the government will not be able to provide services….BUT ELECT ME TO BE THE ONE RUNNING THE EMPTY GOVERNMENT?!?!?! That’s straight jacket, kindergarten, 1980, novice political material. It’s dried up, stale, and emphatically rejected as of Nov 4, 2008. I say they leave this great country and it’s government to those of us that love it.
Posted by: BruhMan | February 25, 2009, 5:45 pm 5:45 pm
txjan1212 you need to check again for who has been in control of Congress for the past 2 years, and this means control not more members in the seats, you know filibusters and all that, it is the percentage that counts. Also we need to get this country moving again, it will take all of us to do it not just us or them ALL of us. As they teach us while working for a company you need team work, but you will always get the squeaky screw. We as American have to ask are these people elected looking out for me, or for themselves. Our elected Officials need to be working for the AMERICAN PEOPLE. If you are not for ALL the American People you are agaist them.

You are mistaken if you think I’m fine with Bush’s spending. Never said that. Bush did not spend like a republican, he spent like a democrat. Irresponsible spending is bad, regardless of who does it. In that respect, President Obama is three times as bad as President Bush. Those are the numbers.
Posted by: Open-Mind | February 25, 2009, 5:48 pm 5:48 pm
Bobby Jindal’s speech moved me,”OK THAT’S IT, THAT’S IT”. However, even though Obama had a great speech at last night, today, Stock markets says Dow closed down 80 points, again. Obama’s glorious inauguration’s day, the day Tim unveiled rescue plan of Banks, Obama enunciated of the Bill of Stimulus package and Obama signed on the Bill, stock markets plunged totally 1,000 point more. You know, Citi bank’s stock marked for $2.75 which you can’t buy ice cream. NO MORE BIG SPEECH BY PRESIDENT,OBAMA UNTIL STOCK MARKETS IS STEADFAST.

Oh yeah, you probably want to point to Obama now, but forget it. This started with Bush–actually the king of deregulation himself, Reagan. A guy who pretended to be a common man, but was just a shill for the rich. He ditched the Dems after he made his millions. Another turncoat Reagan was. FDR’s depression started with Coolidge, I believe. But yes, let’s all blame the guy who is president now. Some open mind you have.

Janet, you do know the DOW is fake, right? There is nothing different about DuPont, Johnson & Johnson, Merck, GM, Ford, McDonald’s, Exxon, Chevron, Pfizer, etc that would have changed between the President speaking and today. It’s only 30 companies, and what you’re seeing is their true worth. What took place over the last twelve years is rampant speculation. THE DOW IS FAKE!!! If you’re a DOW watcher, you’ll go blind before you’re able make profit enough to benefit you. They’ve taken all of your investments, cooked the books, shuffled dollars between crooks (Bernie, Stanford and the boys) held the taxpayers hostage for $700B more, and you’re worried about 30 companies losing a combined 80 points today? Demsgreat, sorry but again you are mistaken regarding history.
FDR inherited the recession which (according to most economists) lasted TEN YEARS because he followed the same “New Deal” tax/spend policies advocated by President Carter and now President Obama. FDR’s “cure” for the great depression was what caused it to last so long.
You’re also mistaken that I am “blaming” President Obama for the current global recession. I am simply questioning his decision to follow a fiscal path which history has shown to fail … twice.

Demsgreat, I’m also curious what you believe Bush “deregulated” that caused the current global recession and US financial crisis.
If you’re referring to the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (which repealed many of the banking regulations of the 1930s), that was signed into law by President Clinton, not President Bush.

Since Obama’s election, the GOP has trotted out the two people of color to SPEAK for the ENTIRE party as if somehow, America has been blind to the fact that we never SAW or HEARD of Steele and Jindal before Obama was brought it. The GOP folks here will say, “we heard of them” and that’s fine. But AMERICA as a whole hasn’t heard of them. The whole point is to put Steele out there to garner Black votes and it just won’t happen. Not ever. Black Americans will not vote Republican — not in numbers that matter in a voting bloc. It’s an insult to think that the GOP’s all-White, old rich guy set have decided to retire to the background and have Jindal and Steele speak for them to give their party a sense of “diversity.” All that’s happened is the 62+ million Americans who voted for Obama in November are laughing because this is an old game — and as usual, the GOP remains behind the times. Best to stop yapping and whining everyday and just get to work and recognize Obama as being their president as well, and earn their salaries. The numbers in the Senate and House are not going to change significantly enough for their whining to matter. The constant barrage of whining to the press everyday just makes the voters mad. WHERE DO THESE GUYS GET SO MUCH TIME and WHY do they think finding the only two Republicans of color to do their dirty work is going to matter to Black America — or to Democrats?

It looks like this Republican spokesman is trying to put lipstick on another Republican Pig. Anyone with any intelligence saw Jindal’s rebuttal as just more of the same lame trickle down Republican fiscal baloney that we have heard from them since Herbert Hoover. Now they apparently think that because Jindal isn’t a typical Old Racist Southern White Boy that the public will believe that they are Responsible and the Democrats are Irresponsible. They are better at creating a laugh than any other Clowns I have listened to.

Open-Mind, you win on old Slick Willie. He played along with deregulation–to a point. But to say that things got out of hand during his presidency is a joke. As you might say: “The dot.com bust hardly compares to what we are living with today. As for Bush, when you have 2 terms and at no point think things are starting to spiral out of control, then you try to hide the free fall for a year, well . . . that is irresponsible and reckless, and harming Americans who have had no say in the game. So, if you want to ignore Bush and Cheney’s pathological misdeeds, then go right ahead. Democrats can be fools, but they aren’t evil. Sorry, Bush and Cheney are.

Bobby Jindal is a joke – they must’ve run him out of his country, for his lack of empathy. He’s trying so hard to please us, white America and frankly, it’s disgusting. I voted for Obama. I’m white, a former Republican and upper middle class. Fancy that, Bobby Jindal.

We northerners are sick and tired of the idiotic politics of the south, not to mention he told like 2 straight up lies about 1) the pork in the plan and 2) the rail way from disneyland to LA. One word of advice to all the republicans out there read a history book government is the answer. and if you want to minimize the cost of government cut our ridiculously large military budget

JFI – The magnetic train Bobby Jindal (BJ) mentioned is completely self powered. It is intended to link Las Vegas to Los Angeles so that people can commute. Disneyland happens to be in Anaheim. Depending on traffic Anaheim can be anywhere from 1-2 hours from Los Angeles. However, Disneyland would be a great destination for the train. It is centrally located in one of the most traffic congested areas in the world. So BJ, get a clue.

Really they would have better off to let McCain do it-
Jindal had all of the buzz words alright but I think some jr. high school kids could have done something more polished than that.
Enough has been said about the speech so I won’t belabor the obvious but it’s pretty clear the GOP does not get it at all.
They keep try and reliving the 2006 and 2008 elections and still can’t believe the reign of corruption is over… HA HA HA

Perhaps Governor Jindal is unaware of the Mount St. Helens volcano disaster, or of the many active volcanoes in the U.S. that pose significant risks to our citizens? And the huge volcano in Yellowstone National Park could be a global catastrophe if it erupts. It’s prudent to see reasonable funding of volcanoes because of their potential to wreak havoc on vast areas and affect air travel as well. It may not be wise to let politicians pick & choose which projects they want to fund, especially if they have little or no knowledge of the scope of these projects.

Frankly, I was embarrassed for Jindal. His body language was that of an unsure teenager and his inability to read his cue cards made him look sophomoric. I’m sure this speech won’t make his highlight reel. Ouch!

As an Indian American I have watched Mr. Jindal’s meteoric rise in American politics with some interest even though I don’t agree with him on the issues. Yesterday he completely flopped. His body language showed discomfort, his voice had no authority, even the content of the speech with silly references to what he had done in Louisiana wasn’t up to the gravity of the situation we face now.
If this was the republican response to Barack Obama, it was like shining a flash light back at the Sun.

The Fat Boy, Rush Limbaugh Defends Jindal, Warns Conservatives They Are ‘Making A Real Mistake If They Go After’ Him
The response across the political spectrum to Gov. Bobby Jindal’s (R-LA) speech last night has been overwhelmingly negative.
Even the most enthusiastic conservative talkers had harsh words for Jindal’s speech, calling it “cheesy,” “insane,” and “not his greatest oratorical moment.”
But Jindal still maintains one key supporter — Rush Limbaugh. On his radio show this afternoon, Limbaugh leaped to Jindal’s defense.
“I love Bobby Jindal, and that did not change after last night,” he said. Limbaugh then directed this admonition at his fellow conservatives:
LIMBAUGH: The people on our side are really making a mistake if they go after Bobby Jindal on the basis of style.
Because if you think — people on our side I’m talking to you — those of you who think Jindal was horrible, you think — in fact, I don’t ever want to hear from you ever again. … I’ve spoken to him numerous times, he’s brilliant. He’s the real deal.
It should come as no surprise that Limbaugh would try desperately to shield Jindal from any criticism. Limbaugh repeatedly refers to the Louisiana governor as the “next Ronald Reagan.”
During his Feb. 28, 2008 radio show, Limbaugh explained that Jindal is among the small group of conservative leaders with the “guts to articulate” right-wing “Rushism” principles.
The affection between the two is growing stronger over time. Limbaugh recently praised Jindal for rejecting unemployment benefits in the stimulus package.
In an interview with Limbaugh in 2007, Jindal gushed that he reads Limbaugh’s books and that he is a “huge fan” of Limbaugh’s program.
In addition, Jindal proudly displays Limbaugh’s kind words for him on his campaign website, where there are links to Limbaugh transcripts and articles.

I thought this was a blog about Jindal. Instead you’ve turned it into an ad for Rush Limbaugh. It’s like asking for a comment about Obama’s speech and instead talking about how much Oprah influences him.

Bobby Jindal reminds me of the alien pawnshop owner who deals alien weapons in “Men in Black” and “Men in Black II” This character’s name in those two movies was “Jack Jeebs” (played by Tony Shaloub). Bobby Jindal not only looks like Jack Jeebs but he is also a slimy, under the radar dirty dealer and expert at deception. The whole Republican Party seems these days to be filled with pathetic loser types who make a profession of being obstructionist and opposing for the sake of opposing, regardless of what the majority of the American people want or what their opposition costs the American people.
Almost 70 percent of Americans approve of the job Obama is doing. So the Republicans come across as sore losers when they attempt to play ‘gotcha’ politics at the very time our country is hurting so bad. Jindal even bragged about continuing to treat the poor of his state poorly. And after all, it was the Republicans who spent 9 trillion dollars and wasted it. Now that Obama tries to spend about a trillion all told to FIX the economy …NOW Republicans ( and their fat cat Wall Street allies) react like spoiled children who don’t get their own way. They always get mad when the poor get anything. The stock market goes up only when the poor get the shaft………. #(*_! them and the horse they rode in on!

I agree with Boehner. Jindal did a great job. It is unreasonable for anyone to compare him with the Nokia Communicator who got into the white house with his mouth and nothing else. Jindal has brains and we know this because his work in Louisanna speaks for itself. As for the communicator, he is also a fast worker-look at the trillion dollar defecit he has got the country into! Americans take great joy in anyone who can talk them out of their money . This is what the credit cards and the Communicator have done to them. Very rarely, a jewel like Jindal can emerge and is quickly discarded as this nation prefers ‘costume’ jewellery. America, Jindal is your priceless Jewel from India. Treasure it and you will find your way out of this mess so that riches and greatness can be restored to you. If you bury this ‘priceless jewel’, America you are heading for poverty!

The kick off campaign of Gov. Jindal, I mean the GOP response was a mess. His delivery was like he was talking to a class of 3rd graders. (Maybe he got the same 3rd grade class that Gov. Palin was answering questions for!) No new ideas, just auto response of the GOP agenda which by the way DIDN’T WORK.
I’m new to this arena, so I don’t profess to be an expert like some on the message board, but it seems to me that if the GOP was in control for the last 6 years, and in the White House for the last 8 years, then why are we in the horrible state we are in? The GOP had the reigns. Look where you took us.

Posted by: Tonya | February 26, 2009, 8:44 am 8:44 am
The GOP was asleep for the last 8 years on the economy. The administration kept saying the economy was fine–we’re having a little down turn–there is no recession–they wouldn’t even use the “r” word because they didn’t want to upset anyone. Last fall they finally got it, but it was too late, so now we have to scramble to “catch up” to what was going on.
Gov. Jindal’s response was not a response to the President’s speech. It was just more of the “tired rhetoric” we’ve heard before—”we gotta cut taxes to grow the economy.” Republicans don’t seem to want to “work with the President” unless he does it their way—that’s the message I got from the so-called response.

Jindal is definitely running for President 2012. His speech was disconnected from Obama’s, it was totally self serving. Speaking of which, he’s such a tough guy, saying he was turning away stimulus $$, when he was offered 3.8 billion, but took just over 3.7 billion of it – ooooooh, he’s such a ‘tough’ guy! Says his state didn’t ‘need’ extra unemployment benefits. I’d like to see HIM live on current benefits, and see what he’d do if he couldn’t get hired by the time they ran out.
The Republicans’ answer to Obama? Do they mean a non-white candidate? Come ON. Let’s be a little racist, shall we?

I live in La. Jindal is as fake as a $3 bill. Real conservatives here in La actually pan him on talk radio and at the watercoolers on a daily basis. He’s a joke here. He has “book smarts” so to speak, but is actually quite weak and ineffective, with dubious leadership skills. He only cares about one thing- his own political future and how he can advance it. He’s spending money like crazy here in La. There has been one state controversy after another with Jindal since his election a sort time ago- and this is a very conservative state! He’s a loser. The country and Rush Limbaugh found that out Tuesday night.

Gov, Jendyl made one statement that was not entirely true….Louisiana received millions of dollars for infrastructure after the flood from the government. All was not achieved by his efforts and ideas. People don’t forget things like that. It is hard to follow Obama in a speech but he looked like he linked on to all of his phrases and incorporated them in his speech trying to make everyone think they were his. I would have appreciated his own phrases not copies of Obama.( i.e. the people are resilient and many others.)

“Right message??” When Jindal would rather see the people of NOLA drowning, and still DO NOTHING, while complaining about money to be spent on monitoring things like volcanoes, so that in the event of a catastrophe, people do not have to die??? This shows the compassion of the conservative repubs like Jindal, who is really another ‘see nothing, do nothing’ character, and just save the ‘myself’ persona. Then trying to emulate the president, quoting himself as the colored son of immigrants who also has made it. Gimme a break, while he may be another politician, he is not Obama and never will be.

Here is my thing – Gov Jendyl complained about the $140M the USGS spends (which only a part) is for volcano warnings. Gee where would Louisiana be if there was no hurricane warning???
Is this guy all the Republicans have? What a joke! All the ‘free’ money the American Taxpayer is still paying to help Louisiana and this guy has the nerve complain!!
I am amazed that the governor would use this example, considering his own states recent brush with a catastrophic natural disaster.

Hey if we are going to take away volcano monitoring lets take away the rest too. Tsunami warnings in the Pacific? Who needs em. Tornado warnings by weathermen…gone! Hurricane warnings to citizens…not needed! I mean seriously…I know volcanoes don’t erupt all that often but Mt. St. Helen was not that long ago, a volcano in Alaska is about to erupt (last time it erupted in 1980 it almost brought down a plane, which had no warning!).

In order for America to succeed everyone has to work together, just like they teach us at School and work this is called TEAM WORK. You are either for America or you are against her. Elected Officials need to work as a team to put it’s people number one again and not the big Companies. When Jobs moved out of the USA, and no jobs are created what do you think was going to happen? America has been outsourced for way to long. Put America back to work and make any company that takes jobs away from Americans pay through the nose in taxes. You can talk how American are the back bone of the USA, but actions speak louder and we have seen the actions of this. Very Simple, No Jobs means no spending, No Spending means no products being bought, Nobody buying mean no jobs.

Let the stats speak for themselves. For those governors opposing the stimulus bill:
State Infant Mort. Edu. Wage
MS 1 50 48
LA 2 48 31
SC 3 41 40
AL 4 45 33
Fix your state problems before offering any opinion to the rest of the union!!!
Wake up, America. Why would these governors offer anything meaningful to this country? Do you trust Bobby Jindal to offer anything substantial to your kids education, health care and the economic development of this country? He can’t even fix the state of LA, what makes you think the so called “solutions” offered by him will be anything but a boat load of crap (pardon my language)… If you truly want to save your childrens’ future, please invest in education and health care. If we don’t, the whole nation will, one day, become one of these four states!!!

Gov. Jindal’s speech was smarmy and the Republican message has been rather disingenuous. Jidal and Steele are the lipstick and the Republican party is the pig.

Bobby is Against “Big Government”
That is…
Borderline Bull-Spit !!!
Most of the Millions sent to Louisiana have Come from “Big Government”
Jindal has his Hands out on All Fronts..
An 90 % or More is from [Federal Millions]
PiYush Jindal is a [[HYPOCRITE]] to the [[HIGHEST DEGREE]]
If Jindal is Against “Big Government” I’d love to See it on paper.
His State Depends [[Heavily On Government Funding]] and the Audacity of Jindal’s Platform was that “Big Government” is the Evil Guy and yet..
It is Jindal who is Constantly Seeking MORE Millions from “Big Government” for New Orleans and Pretends that he is standing on “Republican Principles” by Denying a Poultry [[100 Million]] from a …
[[4 Billion Federal Check To His State]]
PiYush Jindal has Both Hands Out for Government Millions, for New Orleans and he’s getting a Big Fat [[4 Billion Dollars]] from Obama’s Stimulus Plan !!!
Yet it is “Big Government that needs to get out of the Way” !!
If “Big Government” got out of the way…
New Orleans would be Under Water, Right Now, without “Big Government !!
There’s a Reason why there is Federal, State, County & City Governments, Mr. Jindal..
You and Your State [Louisiana] are a Prime Example of Federal Millions [[New Orleans]] and Federal Billions [4 Billion] to Jindal’s State of Louisiana, Minus Jindal’s Nick Picking by Jindal Minusing Out of [[100 Million]] Federal Dollars…
Jindal, Don’t Accept Any of the Damn Money, because this Shameless Display of what is suppose to be “Republican Principles”
Is Plain Ole Double Talk and Political Aspirations, being Placed Above Your State Residence.
PiYush Jindal, You are Not Ronald Wilson Reagan, No Matter how much Rush Limbaugh, has Convinced You, that you are.
You are not ready and You will Never, Ever be Ready…Period

Jindal is so Messed Up, that he had to Run to [Disney World] as his Sanctuary !!

Obama is Right, “It did not take over night to the U.S. into this MESS and it will take Time to get the U.S. out of this MESS”
President Obama also said, “It will get WORSE, before it gets BETTER”
—————-
That’s Sobering, That’s a FACT and that is the BITTER REALITY”
So looking at the Stock Market, every day is not a Reflection or Indicator of this New Presidency, it is a SIGN of the TIMES.
Note: The Stock Market has been BAD for Nearly 7-8 Months.
——————
The Stock Market will take some time to Recover.
Speculators, Dictate Wall Street and the Inaternational Markets are even WORSE than the U.S. Market.
—————
Wasn’t Wall Street Bailed Out By President Bush ?
Bailed Out Wall Street & even Bailed Out Banks !!
Noone Bailed Out the Average American Citizen…

I’d rather have Obama in the Oval Office, than McCain-Palin…
On Any Day of a Calender Year.

Why should people who actually WORK or WANT to work for a living (this means we exclude many Obama supporters)
Wednesday morning on the CBS Early Show, Vice President Joe Biden asked, “But what I don’t understand from Governor Jindal is what would he do? In Louisiana, there’s 400 people a day losing their jobs. What’s he doing?”
But that claim is wrong if you look at the numbers from the Louisiana Workforce Commission.
“In December, Louisiana was the only state in the nation besides the District of Columbia, according to the national press release, that added employment over the month,” said Patty Granier with the Louisiana Workforce Commission.
“The state gained 3,700 jobs for the seasonally adjusted employment,” Granier said of the most recent figures.
The latest statistics show from the week ending January 17th, there were 4,527 claims for unemployment insurance in Louisiana. For the next week, that number dropped to 4,179. Economists credit a diverse economy for Louisiana’s resilience to unemployment.
………………Yeah, the last person we should listen to is someone who not only runs things, but runs them well!!!…

Of course, the Obamaphile media already have their long knives out for Governor Jindal… in a similar approach to the one used on Palin: paint him as a wack-job, an eccentric, and just too far-right for American voters. Outfits such as the Huffington Post are already trying to nip Jindal’s ascension in the bud.
But they are right about one thing; they DO have reason to fear the electoral appeal and success of Bobby Jindal. This accomplished conservative doer is the very antithesis to the Democrat’s unaccomplished, liberal talker now in the White House.
Jindal oozes competence, and is a gifted communicator, with a trademark rapid-fire delivery. And his resume is nothing short of astounding.
His story as the son of Indian immigrants is truly a fulfillment of the American dream. Simply put, Jindal embodies a GOP ideal; America offers a chance to those who want it take it and run with it, rather than entitlement to those who simply have the “audacity” to come here and demand it.
So go get ‘em, Bobby… you’re a good man, and perhaps someday a great one.

“The GOP has to be the Party of better solutions” ….You’re kidding right??..WHAT SOLUTIONS!?…I like Jindal. I think he has a good upside. I have NO idea what he was trying to accomplish on Tuesday…I’m NOT talking about his “delivery”, I’m talking about CONTENT. Think about this. The President spends a good 15 minutes talking about Healthcare….Then Jindal comes on. The LA Governor formerly headed the states Healthcare System –at the age of 24!…So I’m waiting for this nuanced, in-depth response about the “free market Healthcare solution” to counter the Dems plans…What do we get? Opie!…He’s talking to me like I’m 7 years old. He brings up Katrina (??)..That’s all bad enough but the REAL CRIME is that the guy brings ZERO to the healthcare debate other than a couple of throw-away lines. Bobby Jindal’s got to know more about healthcare than virtually any other pol around and he punts!!…Today we’re hearing healthcare’s going to cost a trillion over the next decade. What’s the GOP counterplan???…Who knows!…I guess “Americans can do anything” except hear a decent alternative from the GOP’s resident healthcare “expert”!

Obama is a Far Greater Speaker than Ronald Wilson Reagan, but Krauthammer is right as right can be, in his assessment of President Obama.
The Following Presidents all moved this Nation…
1. President Barack H. Obama
2. President John F. Kennedy
3. President Ronald W. Reagan
4. President Franklin D. Roosevelt
5. President Harry S. Truman
6. President Teddy Roosevelt
7. President William J. Clinton
8. President Abraham Lincoln
You can Choose the Order, but it is a Natural Fact, these Men Moved a Nation and it translated across the Globe.

Reagan Redux
Like the Gipper, Obama offers hope — and wishful thinking
Howard Fineman
WASHINGTON – Pundits are declaring Barack Obama’s speech to Congress was “Reaganesque” in style and tone.
And it’s true: He is a “Great Communicator.”
But Obama is channeling Ronald Reagan in a more profound sense. Like Reagan, his promises are grand – and his budget is wishful thinking. Like Reagan, he’s betting that arithmetic matters less than inspiration.
At a similar spot in a different time – a deep recession in the twilight of the Cold War, 198….
Reagan promised to Double Defense Spending, Cut Taxes sharply and Balance the Budget. The plan was an impossible pipe dream.
And yet Reagan’s optimism helped lift the country out of its funk and restart the Economy.
Note: President Obama is in that Same Situation and confronting the same Tough Issues, and handling these Issues with a similar yet Bolder Manner.
I Wish him well.

PiYush “Bobby” Jindal
There’s a reason for ..
Federal, State, City and County Governments
Federal Funds are Allocated to the States, making the State’s Governors, Mayors, County & City Governments Responsible for the Distributed Federal Funds.
Governor, PiYush Jindal that means YOU are Responsible for the [[4 Billion, Federal Dollars]] coming to you !
If you are Against “Big Government”
Reject the [[4 Billion]]

PiYush Jindal gives the Impression that the State Of Louisiana, Funds itself, as in Hurricane Katrina !!
They were Bombarded with Millions and Billions from…
The Federal Government & The Private Sector, Funding and Independent Donations.
Jindal is still looking for more Katrina Funds, while Accepting 99% of the [[4 Billion]] from Obama’s Stimulus Plan.
What a Contradiction, regarding Independence and being [[Anti-Big Government]]

Jindal, Pronounces his name [[Jindle]]..
To appease his White Audience, they are not Fooled by this Deception.
His name is Pronounced [[Jindaal]]

I thought Jindal speech was great. And no, he was not trying to be a sweet talking snake oil salesman. A doer talks like Jindal. A talker with no plans talks like Obama. With where the country is, I’ll take a doer over a talker any day.
