Huckabee Rips Bush, McCain and Chris Matthews
ABC News’ Tahman Bradley reports: Former Gov. Mike Huckabee, R-Ark., spoke to conservative activists at the 2009 Conservative Political Action Conference, in Washington, D.C., Feb. 26, 2009.
Ferdous Al-Faruque/ ABC News Before an audience of conservatives on Thursday, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee took aim at the 2008 GOP presidential nominee, Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., and former President Bush for supporting the government’s purchase last October of $700 billion in bad mortgages and debt held by struggling U.S. financial institutions. He also suggested McCain might have won the White House last year had he staked out a position in opposition to the bailout. "We can’t blame all the current situation on the Democrats. It was our Republican president and Republican Treasury secretary who said that the world would come to an end if they did not get $700 billion right now to buy up troubled assets. And sadly, the party of Ronald Reagan suddenly became the party of Chicken Little," he said. Several Republicans offered less-expensive rescue plans, "but they were spurned by both President Bush and Sen. McCain," Huckabee said. "With all due respect, Sen. McCain dramatically suspended his campaign, flew back to Washington, not to champion those congressional Republicans, but to join meekly Barack Obama in voting for the bailout, a bailout that most Americans opposed." Had McCain opposed the Wall Street bailout last fall, it might have even set him on a path toward winning the presidency, he added. "It would have been our best shot at winning the White House — a chance to offer a true, authentic conservative choice rather than a big government echo with a ‘me too’ way of doing things. We missed our chance." Huckabee, who was beaten by McCain for the GOP nomination in 2008, is thought to be a possible White House contender again in four years. The former governor didn’t just fire shots at fellow Republicans, he also slammed left-leaning MSNBC host Chris Matthews for saying "Oh, God" on the air as Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal took the podium for the Republican response to President Obama’s Tuesday speech. Huckabee, who has a talk show on Fox News Channel, noted his rivalry with Matthews before ridiculing the "Hardball" host and the cable network. "And of course now I’m in a different kind of competition. There are those other cable channels. There’s the one that just this week finally got religion. You know which one I’m talking about. The one we now call the ‘Oh, God’ channel after Chris Matthews finally realized there was a God and called him out just before Gov. Jindal’s speech the other night," he said. "Some of us call that the … not the MSNBC, but the M-S-B-S channel." Huckabee spoke at the Conservative Political Action Conference, an annual Washington, D.C. gathering of conservative activists.

Huckabee is a shill, and the more he exposes himself on Faux Noise, the more apparent his shillness becomes. And, BTW, who is he to measure the faith of any other human being. Speaking of BS! I guess he thinks he’s God now that he’s on tv regularly trying to be cool with his band while interviewing all of the Joe the plumbers of the world. What a silly, silly man!!

And Chris Matthews should have been fired for uttering “Oh God” — it doesn’t matter why he said it, it was unprofessional and disrespectful. The fact that he hasn’t been fired has shown just how low our standards for the media have fallen. I’m sure Walter Cronkite is rolling over in his grave.

Excuse me, O, but why should there be a health plan? Ever American has access to health care. We don’t need a plan that will require rationing or make health care more expensive like the Obama plan.
We have universal education. If you mean free college, that only means a proliferation of fly by night diploma mills and uncontrolled tuition increases with no real education.

You’re absolutely right about that. See most people don’t realize that it’s healthcare that is the cause of many people losing their jobs because the employers can’t afford it. This is why the foreign car companies are able to crush the American car makers…They’re not paying for their employees healthcare and that’s just 1 industry.

Hang – You have access!! Everyone does. Health care is provided at doctor’s offices, clinics, hospitals and medical centers. Free clinics are found across the country and no hospital can refuse to admit anyone in case of emergency – even if you can’t pay.
You have access, but in most cases you have to pay. Even if we had a socialized national health care plan, you’d still have to pay, but you’d pay through additional income taxes (most likely) not when acquiring services. But you still pay. The beauty of socialized health care is you get to pay for everyone – not just yourself.

Huckabee should have been President!! His speach on ‘why he bacame a Republican’ in the Republican debate was one of the best speaches I ever heard a Republican give!! (even though I am a young rep.) He states how he became a president because he works hard so nobody and no gov’t has to bail him out!! I think if more people had that hard working attitude we wouldn’t in the situation we are. To many people are expecting the (dem.) gov’t to help them. tax, tax, tax, spend, spend, spend!! This is what democrats want… and my future children, who I don’t know if I would want to bring them into this world (country) with this much debt and crisis. History repeats itself and no empire last forever…!!! its jealousy and greed which will cause something big to happen, bringing the honorable US to a fall. I think Huckabee is true and has the honesty and integrity to do it!! This is why the party needs to get everyone back on board and stand up for the things this country needs, the things that Ronald Reagan believed in and got us back on track for prosperity!!

No they do not. For those who do not have healthcare, we foot the bill by higher costs in our healthcare. That is the main reason Obama is trying to do something about it.
If people do not have healthcare the businesses and the people that do have it pay for those who don’t. If we insure everyone the businesses don’t have the increased costs nor do we that do have it.

Amazing that Huckabee had to make that last statement without even the guts to say a bad word. His chance at reviving his political career by badmouthing other Republicans seems disingenuous to be sure. After quoting Reagan, he seemed to leave out the main comment by Reagan, ie “Thou shalt not speak ill of another Republican.” Huckabee just talks like a jilted lover these days and the meanness in him is definitely showing. Seems Republicans are devouring their own these days. They better get their act together or they will never regain the majority and with folks like him insulting everyone, I can understand why Republicans lost.

Bush had to deal with the 911 attack along with Reps. and Demo’s. The economy boomed with the tax cuts initiated by Bush unfortunately both the Dems and Repbs. became irresponsible and spent the new money as fast as it came in to the Treasury. We are now suffering the consequences of both party’s irresponsibility. But make no mistake the true alligator in this pond is the Community Reinvestment act passed by congress which forced banks to loan money to people who had little chance, if any, to make the payments. Then these defective mortgages were sold around the world and have now come due and there is no money to pay them. Thanks to this error started some 20 plus years ago we all will pay. Goods will now cost each American (rich and poor) more money because of inflation and those who have saved for retirement have watched as their savings dwindle. The next thing we will see is the absents of jobs. We cannot now expect that more spending and looking the other way at congress (both parties) will solve the problem. We need a mechanism to create jobs, not spending which at best will only show short term gains. Logic must prevail. Emotional rhetoric is not an answer or a solution.

During the Bush admin we had a huge transfer of wealth to the elite upper five percent by way of generous tax breaks and/or subsidies. The republican plan is to severely shrink or do away with all those ‘unnecessary’ government funded programs like hospitals, schools/colleges, public infrastructure (water, electric, bridges, roads…..)
So its up to we the people as to what kind of a country we want to have – one where big business can shaft the worker with abandon? or one where ordinary citizens along with movers and shakers with more money can grow new businesses and have a market of citizens that can afford to buy their products.

To the moron who thinks all americans have health care – try getting cancer and figuring out the treatment you’re going to get if you have no insurance.
there are not free clinics everywhere – and hospitals are drowning in trying to provide coverage to the 48 million people who have none. its very expensive (INEFFICIENT) to have hospitals provide basic coverage to the poor.

GOP Strategist: Jindal’s Speech Was “Painful” And A “Good Night For Sarah Palin”
Lots of folks have been collecting the appalled reactions from people left right and center to Bobby Jindal’s response speech last night, and here’s a good one that passed unnoticed.
GOP strategist Ed Rollins, asked by CNN’s Anderson Cooper to react, offered up this (via Nexis):
COOPER: How do you think he did? I mean, clearly as Candy said he got a tough job following this President?
ROLLINS: It was a tough job. And obviously he was better on the weekend talk shows when he was answering questions as opposed to trying to give a speech. No one has ever really succeeded at this post and –
COOPER: It’s always kind of painful.
ROLLINS: It’s always painful and no one has gone on from this to — everybody thinks it’s a great launching pad. I wouldn’t recommend to any of my clients, whatever you do don’t take the honor.
COOPER: It’s true. Every year this person is a rising star and then they seems like they [Implode] and you never see them again.
ROLLINS: I would say this was a good night for [Sarah Palin].

I am not a huge fan of Huckabee but fact remains he is right about TARP, as history exposes and he is right about the new Spending deal. For the democratic koolaid drinkers who say Bush did it too, Does that make it right? We might be in for a complete collapse due to the failed policy of Obama and company. What corporation wants to expand when Obama is doing everything he can to punish those that do? As the DOW heads for another new LOW today maybe some koolaid drinkers will realize they actually drank poison. NAH… you would have to have some common sense for that.

Look all the political losers, like Huckabee, Karl Rove, and others seem to end up on Fox News channel, as a so called “Contributor” on Fox News, which hires all the losers.
Huckabee is a so called Preacher I’d personally would not attend any of his services, he spews alot a hate in his hick voice, he trys to make jokes to cover up the hate he spews, he even spews hate against his own party of losers.

I like the argument that just because Bush did it(TARP), does that make it right?
But then the writer does what is all too common with the right now. He seems too anxious to decide against Obama before the evidence is in. In one sentence we have “we MIGHT be in for a complete collapse” indicating speculation on the outcome of these policies but then he goes on to determine that these are failed policies before the speculation has had a chance to be answered. I’m also not comfortable with all these things going on but it’s not good logic to speculate on their outcome while defining them as already failed.

It is inevitable that a would-be recipient of such transfer will corrupt those with that power to get their share, and more. Thus the only cure for the “beltway phenominum” is curtailment of such transfers involuntarily (by government programs) and growth of voluntary means (charities, churches, unions, co-ops) of addressing naturally occurring inequitiesWill be a long road back from government “spreading the wealth around”, but like all journeys, it begins with a single step. The time is now, or never.

Hey Mack, I can see that you are steeped in misrepresenting and a good disciple of Limbaugh. Not a good sign for intelligent people. However, let us assume you are right about Universal free education. The Scandinevian countries and Germany with free college still have a far better education than the US. Of course you need a straw man for your arguement to have an appearance of holding some water. Right?

I can’t agree with about 75% of what Huckabee says, but one thing he does support, that I totally agree with, is the plan that would totally revitalize government and stimulate the economy like nothing else. “The Fair Tax Act of 2009″! I can’t understand why he’s not out promoting this legislation to the max to get it passed. I also can’t understand why more Republicans aren’t on board with this act, it’s their plan, and the best plan in year’s from those calling themselves Republican’s.

PiYush “Bobby” Jindal
There’s a reason for ..
Federal, State, City and County Governments
Federal Funds are Allocated to the States, making the State’s Governors, Mayors, County & City Governments Responsible for the Distributed Federal Funds.
Governor, PiYush Jindal that means YOU are Responsible for the [[4 Billion, Federal Dollars]] coming to you !
If you are Against “Big Government”
Reject the [[4 Billion]]
HYPOCRITE

PiYush Jindal gives the Impression that his State Funds itself, as in Hurricane Katrina !!
They were Bombarded with Millions and Billions from…
The Federal Government & The Private Sector, Funding and Independent Donations.
Jindal is still looking for more Katrina Funds, while Accepting 99% of the [[4 Billion]] from Obama’s Stimulus Plan.
What a Contradiction, regarding Independence and being [[Anti-Big Government]]

All the people on Faux News are mouthpieces for the Rightwing wack jobs. They support the rich and could care care less about the poor and middle class. Yes more tax breaks for the wealthy is their mantra. Reverse Robin Hoods. Take from the poor and middle class and give to the rich. And where does the wealthy make their money from? By exploiting the poor and middle class. I can’t wait for the typical Rightwingers BS comments! For once I wish you people would SUPPORT the Middle Class! But then again when Rush and Faux News gives you your daily marching orders you lemmings always obey! You people are SO pathetic!

Excuse me, O, but why should there be a health plan? Ever American has access to health care. We don’t need a plan that will require rationing or make health care more expensive like the Obama plan.
We have universal education. If you mean free college, that only means a proliferation of fly by night diploma mills and uncontrolled tuition increases with no real education

Hey Mack, why don’t you tell that to the countless people I talk to everyday, who are told they have cancer
and no way to pay for treatment. Or their insurance runs out, and to access resources thay have to have No assets to qaulifiy for any help, if there is any available.Everyone thinks that they are protected, but you are not. Check out you insurance coverage, and see how much they will pay if you get cancer.Or better yet, for how long?

Why is it that GOP politicians who lose always end up on FOX News or hosting some rightwing nut radio program?

It’s interesting to have a comment thread interrupted by false or defamatory statements. No credible economist has ever said “the economy boomed under Bush.” Huckabee is not “fat and sweaty.” Stop it!
If you can’t stick to the topic, make an interesting observation or add some relevant data, then DON’T COMMENT! Keep lurking, read the comments by people who have something worthwhile to say and move on. It slows things down to have to skim over your ignorant, dishonest or angry posts.

Huckabee is another in a long line of GOP dinosaurs. Here’s a guy that adheres to a set of beliefs that encourages people to SPEED UP THE WORLD’S DESTRUCTION. Cheery fellow.Like his cohorts, they truly do want to see the Prez, and therefore, the country, to fail. These men ARE NOT PATRIOTS.

Remember George W. Bush …
“This Economy is about to Crater… The Economy is about to Tank Out”
“This Sucker is about to Shut Down”
Ha !!
Bailed out the Damn Banks and Wall Street and Let the Bankers and let Wall Street Executives Run Wild with Tax Payers Billions.
Republican Talking Points: Big Government, get out of the Way and Let the Market Grow….
Yeah Right…
Go Bankrupt and get Bailed out by the [[Tax Payers]] you Notice that the Republican Party, Never Complain about this Dump on the Tax Payers Next Generation……
But You Hear the Republican Pundits Trash Obama, for Dumping this DEBT on the Nation’s Next Generation, because Bush is a Republican and [[Corporate Welfare]] is Acceptable and Dumping such DEBT on the Next Generation is [[Acceptable]] and is “Free Enterprise” Justified.
