Jindal Shows Off His Cookies

ABC News’ Teddy Davis reports: Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal (R) is trying to make the most out of being chosen to give the GOP’s Tuesday response to President Barack Obama’s speech to Congress. First, he received extensive coverage for announcing on Friday that he was not accepting some unemployment compensation dollars out of a concern that they would have required a change in state law which would have imposed a new tax on the state’s businesses once the stimulus dollars dry up. Then there was the Sunday appearance on NBC’s "Meet the Press" where he cast himself as a reformer by saying the GOP was "fired with cause" in 2006 and 2008. That was followed by the effort to build-up his email list by running web ads pointing Americans to BobbyJindal.com where they could sign up to get speech excerpts. Now he’s showing off his cookies. In a blast email which hit my in-box Tuesday evening, Jindal informed his supporters that chocolate chip cookies are his "favorite snack" and he showed off a photo of the "extra large batch" of cookies which were made for the press corps on Tuesday. On top of the cookie photo, Jindal included three photos of himself in the private study of the Louisiana governor’s mansion preparing for tonight’s address. For all his 2012 appeal, Jindal still has a major hurdle: he’s up for re-election in 2011 which could make it exceedingly difficult to campaign in states which hold early nominating contests. He also is under pressure to prove himself to be a compelling communicator in the GOP response itself.

I hope I get to vote for Bobby Jindal on a national ticket soon. He has done a great job with Louisiana.

you go right ahead and vote for him. He needs to clean up that STINKY dump OF A STATE, LOUISIANA. I was recently there, Louisiana is an eyesore it looks like a 3rd world. SO, before he goes and point a finger and be the new pigeon for the Republicans he needs to CLEAN UP THAT STINCH in LOUISIANA.

I think ABC gave the President a slap in the face by putting on Jindal after the President. We all know he has 2012 aspirations for the White House.

Irresponsible? Perhaps Governor Jindal should have listened to President Obama’s Presidential Address before taping his message to the viewers. It appears that Mr. Jindal is irresponsible, arrogant and presumptive one. I have one question, Gov. Jindal. It’s a simple one.
How much did it cost the Federal government to bail-out Louisiana? Fiscal responsibility? Get real.
Since you like to revisit history, perhaps you could recall John Donne’s quote: “No man is an island, unto himself.”

I think Jindel’s response hinder bipartisanship in the White House. Differences on how you want to do things is an argument that occurs while it is being written. I only think that republicans are complaining because they are no longer in control. Voting for or against is their right.

Jindal’s part of the 8-year Repl.problem/Obama is the solution.

How dare “Bobby” Jindal talk to the American people as if we were a bunch of third graders? His facial expressions, the tenor of his voice, his careful repetition of key phrases made me feel he was talking down to us, as if we couldn’t possibly have a clue how the country’s economic crisis could be rectified. Oddly, his “response” was to paraphrase President Obama’s speech, telling us the Republicans want the same things — economic recovery, small business growth, etc. — without any of those pesky details like HOW to stimulate a recovery. He’ll have to run for president far later than 2012; the third graders won’t be old enough to vote until at least 2020.

Did we listen to the same speech? or What speech did Gov.Jindal hear? Why are the Republicans playing politics? He was bragging about continuing to treat the poor of his state poorly.
President Obama’s plan is a realistic attainable plan for those who truly want to see a progressive America; Governor Jindal appeared to be making a campaign speech. The speech appeared to be telling anyone who is listening to not beleive in our President ideas regarding a strong approach to the economy. We don’t need to be divided! We need to be working together. Why is this so hard to understand? Payment plans only work if you have a job. I wonder how many more people have to lose their jobs and homes before this governor and others like him get a clue.

It was so obvious that the Republicans were pulling some plays out of Karl Rove’s handbook–seriously, why was it even ok for a governor who is receiving federal money for his state to respond to the president in regards to fiscal responsibility and fiscal conservatism? I thought it was pathetic.

Jindal comes off like Mr. Rogers. Can this man and this party be that stupid?
The newsmedia are rolling in the isles at his speech. He has shown himself to be the laughing stock of the world. He even makes Sarah Palin look brilliant. LOL

Where do these govenors come from?? Jindal and Palin???? Rather a scary thought.
They really make a good pair don’t they. Both airheads.
Maybe people should start listening to Obama, what he plans and see who is fighting him on the plans.
He’s been in office ONE MONTH and people are expecting everything to be changed. It took 8 years to get to this situation and it can’t be cleared up in one month.

The republicans are just never going to give up the fact that they lost! I mean to have Jindal on right after Obama’s speech to the congress was blantant disrespect to our new incoming president. So far from what I have seen is that the republican party is doing everything to try to make President Obama fail. Quite frankly that is a d$#( shame and it will blow up in their face for the quest to regain power.
When will they understand or get it that the American people are tired of the fear tactics & politics of old. We have tried, tried, tried again their ways for over 20 years and we keep getting the same old results, more for the rich and the middle class becoming the poor. For the first time I and the majority of Americans feel that our new President is really insinc with what is really going on and this is so because he refused to be placed in a bubble & sheltered from the reality of America. I applaud him for that.

WE all know that Obama is a great orator but how does that make him believable? He sure promised a lot and we are supposed to believe we get all that by taxing the richest 2% in the country. I just don’t get it. The man has no record of accomplising anything except running a campaign (if he was the one running it) and all of the sudden he is the greatest man in the world. It takes more than a great speaker to convince me. The backdrop of Nancy Pelosi cheering him on made me sick to my stomach. I really think people need to look beyond the hype and the speeches and delve into what the agenda is of this powerful party. They do have a lot of power and with the slobbering media completing the package, we could be headed into a dangerous direction. I know everyone likes the Obama image but who is pulling the strings. We need to stop comparing him to great leaders in the past because he hasn’t done anything yet to be classified as great. Keep your eyes and ears open.

I was watching the news last night and they showed Bush at SMU and one of the things he said he looks forward to doing now is reading the “NEWSPAPER” because that is something he missed doing, it kept him up on what is going on. What does that tell you? Well to me it says that Bush was out of touch with the people he worked for, but was in touch with the super rich & big CEO’s and their agendas.
All the republican party did last night was a poor job at campaigning for a job that is not even open right now. He was condescinding in his tone as if the American people are slow to understand the just of what is going on in our country. Well Jindal & the rest of your republican hard heads we do get it and we finally have a president who is for everyone, not just the rich! As long as he do his best and try to turn this trillion dollar mess he has inherited from your republican president & adminsitration, I believe he will do just fine with or without your support. Because our President Barack Obama has the support of the people (majority of America) who voted for him to make changes in the way the government has done business in the past, get it past. Until you are ready to move forward with new, fresh ideas and move beyond your own political agendas thinking that what we the people want, you will continue to be the party on the outside looking in!

Well, the nicest thing I can say about Gov Jindal is to remind him that cookies do crumble as did his response to the President’s address last night. What planet does this guy live on? Is the Republican so out of touch with what is going on in this country that they would designate him as their spokesperson? First Palin, then Jindal…what is next? Elmer Fudd?

Posted by: Marie N | February 25, 2009, 10:01 am 10:01 am

Gov Jindal tried to use the same old story that his party used for the last 7 years. The scare tactics and lies, from terror threats to they are going to make goverment bigger or spend way to much. If memory serves me, all in the last 8 years the goverment grew by leaps and bounds, money was leaking out of capitol hill like water spilling out a hole in a dam all with no over site, health care sored but this is understandable for Gov Jindal party, as health care proponent’s and carriers are Rich almost as bad as Wallstreet’s CEO’s. You can talk the talk Gov Jindal, but you can not walk the walk.

Bobby Jindal is strike three. McCain was the first, striking out on low ball tactics, then Palin who hit a grounder only to be fielded by the revelation about cheating on her taxes and thrown out at first. If Jindal is to be the savior and standard bearer of the “new Republican party”, he definitely needs some more ojt. The babble he generated last night came away as more reminiscent of Limbaugh rather than the RNC who supposedly manipulated his words to deliver their message, rather than his own. All talk, no solutions. The RNC needs to return to the dugout for a new battle plan, and one that hopefully will help rather than hinder.

It will be great fun watching the religious, extremist, lunatic neo-con, fringe Republican Pary slap it out for control….Palin slapping Huckabee slapping Jindal……Talk about win/win/win for Democrats. Looks like the morally and intellectually bankrupt Republican Party will be out of business for the forseeable future. A fate they have brought on themselves. Talk about poetic justice.
