EmailThe latest ABC News/Washington Post poll has just been released. President Barack Obama is at 68 percent approval. He leads the Republicans in Congress on trust to handle the economy. Democrats in Congress are at 50 percent approval rating, while the GOP in Congress is at 38 percent. The poll also finds that 87 percent of the country is worried about the federal budget deficit. A whopping 59 percent say they are "very concerned" — up 10 points in two months. Read the full charts and questionnaire here. More to come … –George Stephanopoulos UPDATE: On the president’s stimulus plan, 64 percent approve, 62 percent think it will help their area, 46 percent expect it to help personal finance, 46 percent think feds will police spending well. The poll also finds a huge partisan split on Obama. Ninety percent of Democrats approve of the president, whereas only 37 percent of Republicans approve, and 67 percent of Independents approve. The poll also found that 73 percent think the president is trying to work with the GOP, but only 34 percent think the GOP is trying to work with him.

1. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Polls are for strippers. Following these things is relatively pointless at any one time point as the trends are more important.
2. I place little trust in the ‘wisdom’ of the stock market. The thing is mostly driven by either hopeless optimists or chicken littles.

It is just amazing to me that the first comment should be from someone who thinks the President of The United States is a “NO BRAIN MORON”. This from someone who types in ALL CAPS probably because he doesn’t understand what a shift key is. And then because he does not understand the post button ends up posting the same comment twice.

I am sorely tempted to launch into a serious rant but with the limited brain power Mr. AsianGOP is displaying it would probably be way over his head.
The crisis that we all are facing is not President Obams’s fault any more than it is Mr. AsianGOP’s or mine for that matter. It is a combination of ignorance and greed on the part of men and women in power and the inherent flaw in the two party system that doesn’t allow for even a small bit of the power to be shared with honest and hard working Americans. We are to busy fighting among the left and right for centrists to even have a moment. There are no partisan politics there are only people who when out of power will say or do anything to get back in and it applies to both sides of the aisle.
Think back to the Newt days. Every dog has his and it will come back around.
We have all be deluded into thinking that there is somehow a rightness to the American way of life that lifts us above and beyond any other country out there. Look around please. We are surrounded by crooks and thieves and we have come to a major fork in the road.
The fact that almost all of our governments are made up of self serving men and women whose primary goal is keeping their jobs through re-election seems to evade the thought process of most people. Everyone has their hand out and now so does John Q.
Crooked Bankers, Crooked Wall Streeters and the Crooked Politicians who allowed them to take the money right out of our pockets are to blame here.
Everything different is the same.

President Obama is the only person wise enough and determined enough to help get our country back on track. We have so much to be done to undo Bush and Cheney’s grim handywork on our government. The stock market has become a racket that also needs an overhaul for everyone’s benefit.

I have never seen such stupidity in my life as the recent behaviors of the GOP. It seems they are out of date and many need to retire. President Obama is trying to take us into a new world that we really have to enter and those GOP fools can’t see the forest through the trees. The people of their states ought to fire them in the next election. We need progressive thinkers and new blood in the senate and congress who “care” about the people of these United States. Correct me if I am wrong but, isn’t that what they were elected for – to care about the people ? I firmly believe in what President Obama says ” There are no blue states or red states, only The United States.” AMEN

President Obama is doing the best job that he can considering the serious problems that face our country. I suppose there are some who think he should have already solved all our problems after being in office for only 1 month … although these problems were decades in the making. I say if you think you can do a better job then you should run for Pres. and give it a try. The naysayers are always knocking the ideas of others who are actually trying to solve the problems and rarely offer anything positive in the way of ideas, solutions or support. Remember -if you are not part of the solution then you are a part of the problem.

I am happy to see that most people commenting here remember that Mr Obama has only been in office for one month. I don’t know how much more any one could have done in that amount of time. It is still going to get worse before it gets better…but it will get better.

As I said in another forum, numbers after 1 month need to be viewed with caution. It is entirely possible to have a halo effect skewing the numbers this early in an administration. Even GWB had good approval numbers when he first took office.
Let’s see what kind of staying power these numbers have in 6-9 months when policy decisions are a little better vetted against actual performance against promises made.

I want to be here only marginally more than I want to die trying to escape it.
While here, I performed some empirical research & found that roughly 60% of the indigenous peoples of America were born with a specific cerebral malformation.
It seems that important parts of their brains became dislodged either thru a birthing accident or some other traumatic episode thereafter which resulted in those parts “taking root” in their host’s buttocks.
I have the feeling that you suffer from this malady as you just displayed the typical symptom of this particular problem.
The only cure that I’m currently aware of is to have your brains surgically removed from your buttock & placed in a jar by the side of your bed.
If you can’t afford the expensive surgery, you might take advantage of the “home remedy” wherein you enlist the aid of anyone that finds you suitable for expending their time & energy & ask them to repeatedly kick you in the buttock region until your brain dislodges itself & returns to where it ought to be.
That could take awhile. It depends on just how far up your butt that you keep your brains.

No more bailouts, especially to the financial institutions that caused this world financial disaster. Let’s reward the banks and credit unions that followed the rules and loan them the money to make news loans on mortgages, for entrepreneurs, for college students, etc.
I haven’t heard one word from Democrat or Republican about indicting the CEOs, their top management and their boardroom buddies and business partners who caused this world economic crises.
These scumbags took the first bailout money and used it for bonuses, golden retirements, retreats, and other personal gain, including buying up other banks, which by the way was set up by Paulson in secret before the original bailout was passed by Congress. Do you hear either Republican or Democrat demanding the removal of these tyrannical, arrogant, greedy oligarchs from power and replacing them with honest people? Do you hear any Democrat or Republican demanding the CEOs and their boardroom buddies who caused all this world pain be indicted, prosecuted, their assets frozen (past, present, future, deferred)? Do you hear our government anywhere demanding the breaking up these mammoth oligarchy financial institutions into smaller banks that are transparent and can no longer cause another Great Depression like the one we are descending into? NO. Why: Because every one of our politicians, from President to local municipality politician is owned by the very rich who paid most of their campaign costs and who own this country and government,write the legislation including tax codes, and who mostly pay no or little taxes.
The only way we can stabilize and return our economy and country to health for everyone of us who is hurting and/or fearful of losing our house, our health care, our jobs, if we haven’ done so already, is to write to your federal and state legislators and President Obama, and to all you local media, that we want these oligarchs removed immediately,jailed, indicted,prosecuted,their assets frozen(past,present,future,deferred, and their and their family’s passports surrendered; that we want these huge financial monopolies dividied up, letting the bad parts fail and the healty ones survive; new people put in; and their operations transparent. Let every politician know that you are ready to vote them out at the next election if they don’t listen to you.
This will return our economy to health -restoring our financial integrity and trust, and return our jobs and return fair and just wages.

There’s almost no way to ferret the truth out of any debacle in WDC. They protect each other…unless there’s something in it for the squealer.
No one takes the blame; No one admits participation; No accountability anywhere. Who ya’ gonna’ call?
Best thing to do now is run with it. Take an example from the pricks that already made off with major monies & go after whatever you can get too.
Sounds un-American doesn’t it?
Can’t be. Our business leaders are doing it. They wouldn’t do anything to hurt us or this country now would they?
